1935 Fiat Balilla 508 Van 1935 Fiat Balilla 508 Van

1935 Fiat Balilla 508 Van

Lot #101 (Sale Order 1 of 88)

The first genuine Italian subcompact automobile, the Fiat 508 holds an important place in the countrys automotive history. Developed by a “whos who of the countrys best engineers, including Dante Giacosa, it was popularly nicknamed …Balilla after a military hero of the 18th century who was becoming well known again in this era of Italian nationalism. By the admission of one of its designers, Antonio Fessia, “there was nothing original in the design, but where the 508 succeeded was in getting so much of itself right the first time. It was comfortable enough for those who desired comfort and economical enough for those who required economy while also being priced attractively at 10,000 lire”versus the 25,000 lire charged for the Fiat 509 built only three years prior.Perhaps unsurprisingly, the …Balilla became an immediate success both in the Italian press and in the salesrooms, with 112,000 being built between 1932 and 1937. It was manufactured not only in Italy, but also in locations as diverse as Germany, France, and even Poland, thus seeing Fiats popularity spread across the European continent. The significance of the …Balilla to the companys success in the 20th century cannot be overestimated.First delivered on the 18th of September 1935 to the Azienda Elettrica Governativa in Rome, this particular Fiat Balilla is one of the few examples produced from the factory as a Van. Over recent years this FIAT Servizio Course Van has been restored to its former glory and a special note goes to its mobile front screen and beautifully restored woodwork in the rear.Due to their rarity, these Fiat Balilla 508 Vans are very desirable cars for many collectors. Sold with a bill of sale.View 1935 Fiat Balilla 508 Van on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1935-fiat-balilla-508-van' for further details.

1974 Lancia Fulvia 1300 S Coupå 1974 Lancia Fulvia 1300 S Coupå

1974 Lancia Fulvia 1300 S Coupå

Lot #102 (Sale Order 2 of 88)

The Lancia Fulvia does not need much introduction for the motorsport interested person. Also known as the tipo 818 it was Lancia‚s competition car of choice during the late 60s and early 70s. It won the World Rallye Championship in 1972 when it was replaced by the incredible Stratos. Introduced at the Geneva Car show 1963 it remained in production an amazing 13 years fizzling out of production 1976. During this time it was of course updated many times and it came in three basic versions from the start. The Berlina or Saloon, the Coupe and the Sport. The Coupe is the car we have in the auction today and the Sport was the Zagato version of the Coupe. The early cars held the designation 1,3 or 1,6 whereas the later cars such as this one were known as the 1300 or 1600. The competition version, sold to the public were called HF and there were also HF rallys which were even more competition orientated. On offer with us here today is a wonderful example of the 3rd series that has a mere 22,000km recorded on its odometer which is reflective of its overall condition. The engine is said to sound very clean and with its very realistic reserve, represents a great opportunity to join the classic Italian sports car club.View 1974 Lancia Fulvia 1300 S Coup’å on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1974-lancia-fulvia-1300-s-coupe' for further details.

1931 Alvia 12/60 Beetleback

Lot #103 (Sale Order 3 of 88)

In 1931 the 12/50 had been joined by an even sportier partner – the 12/60hp. Introduced in 1931, the 12/60 came with a raised compression ratio and twin carburettors, modifications that raised maximum power to 56bhp. A sports saloon, four-seater sports and two-seater sports were offered, the latter clothed in graceful …beetleback coachwork. Testing a 12/60 …beetleback in 1931, Motor Sport found the car could almost touch 80mph, yet was capable of returning 30mpg even when driven hard. Today, Alviss 12/50 and 12/60 are among the most highly sought after sports cars of their day, with an enthusiastic following worldwide. This 12/60 …beetleback was dispatched from the factory on 19 November 1931 to Skurrays of Swindon, first registered WV 310 and believed by the current vendor to be used as either a dealer demonstrator or company car for a few months, before being sold in 1932 to Leslie Alan LansdowneLeslie Alan Lansdowne (LAL) a renowned Aeronautical Engineer who worked on the famous R100 airship and later helicopters. She was driven and maintained by him for 43 years initially in Yorkshire and later in the Somerset area around the village of East Chinock, where LAL worked as a stress test engineer for Westland Helicopters. Annual holidays were taken in the Alvis at the family home in Coverack, Cornwall. The car was run and maintained by LAL until his death in 1975 when she was bequeathed in his will to his niece and nephew, Marion Campbell of Boothby Graffoe, Lincoln and Alan Bland of Berkhampsted, the car was transported up to Lincolnshire and put into dry storage at the Campbell farm in Boothby Graffoe and registered in the name of Alan Bland.Around the mid-1980s Andrew Campbell son of Marion got to know Peter Leech a local vintage &classic car enthusiast, engineer and restorer, they decided the car must be restored from its now sorry state and came to an agreement with the owners, Andrews mother and uncle.Restoration work began in late 1988 being managed and competed by Peter Leech, numerous specialists were researched and involved (all receipts and correspondence for the complete restoration together with photographic record are included) Several coachbuilders were visited for the placing and the all-important body restoration and Wilkinsons of Derby were selected as the marque specialists and having an excellent reputation, their Frank Gilbert oversaw the body restoration and made copies of the beetleback ash frame for other clients.Alan Bland died in 1994 and registration passed to Andrew CampbellThe restoration was completed in April 1994 at a total cost of £32,000, at 1990 prices without any initial purchase price or costing of the 420 hrs labour recorded by Peter Leech. The car has been run and maintained by Peter & Andrew since with no expense spared and full records kept, she has competed just over 10,000 miles in the 23 years and has been on the road with running costs of £8,600.View 1931 Alvis 12/60 Beetleback on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1931-alvis-1260-beetleback' for further details.

1996 Ferrari 355 Spider 1996 Ferrari 355 Spider

1996 Ferrari 355 Spider

Lot #104 (Sale Order 4 of 88)

…Complex, sophisticated, and very fast, it is the quantum leap that has enabled the Ferrari V8 to run in proud parallel with the 456GT and 550 Maranello, enthused Car magazines review of the F355. First presented to the motoring press in May 1994, the F355 effectively re-forged the reputation of Ferraris V8 which, 328 and 348 notwithstanding, had suffered since the introduction of the Mondial …world car. The latter, with its four seats, well-appointed interior, and – relatively – soft ride, was considered far too sensible to be a …proper Ferrari; the F355 however, was cast in the mould of that great drivers car, the Dino 246GT. Just how great an advance it was may be gauged from the fact that the F355s best time around Ferraris Fiorano test track was three seconds quicker than the formidable 512TRs.Despite its prodigious performance the F355 was no mere …racer on the road, but a thoroughly modern automobile employing state-of-the-art technology, in the form of computer-controlled variable damping, to reconcile the differing requirements of ultimate roadholding and acceptable comfort. A light-action clutch, proportional power-assisted steering, and drivers air bag were other features calculated to make the car reassuringly user-friendly. The heart of the F355 though, was its phenomenal 3.5-litre V8 engine. Equipped with four overhead camshafts and five valves per cylinder – a layout borrowed from Ferraris Formula 1 engine – this remarkable unit produced a claimed 370bhp at 8,250rpm, with 268lb/ft of torque available from 5,000 to 6,500rpm. A six-speed gearbox, mounted transversely behind the longitudinally disposed engine, ensured a sufficiency of ratios to keep the motor on the boil whatever the situation. This left-hand drive F355 Spyder is finished in Argento Nurburgring silver with Nero leather, carpets and hood. With only 2 previous owners from new, a mere 38,000 miles recorded and a total service history with stamped original service book including a recent Cam belt service and M.O.T earlier this year, the car is supplied with extras including , Bluetooth stereo with dab radio and hands free, sports exhaust, air conditioning, electric seats, electric hood, power steering, original tool kit, and a desirable leather hood cover . Sounding suitably throaty this classic 355 offered in arguably the best colour combination, with its desirable manual gearbox makes this car an instant classic that represents very fair value.View 1996 Ferrari 355 Spider on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1996-ferrari-355-spider' for further details.

1976 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.0 1976 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.0

1976 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.0

Lot #105 (Sale Order 5 of 88)

Group 4 homologation rules, which required 400 road cars to be built before F.I.A approval for international racing was granted, led to the creation of …Project 930 – the legendary Porsche 911 Turbo. Production began in April 1975: the Turbo married a KKK turbocharger to the 3.0 litre RSR engine, which in road trim delivered 260bhp and a top speed of 155mph. As impressive as this was, there was more to the Turbo than just top speed. It was also the best equipped 911 produced until that point, amazingly flexible – hence there being only a four speed gearbox – as well as being formidably fast. Indeed, standstill to 100mph was achieved in a mere 14 seconds.Borrowing the flared wheel arches and …tea tray rear spoiler from the Carrera model, the Turbo had aggressive looks to match the performance. It also incorporated the most luxurious interior yet seen in a 911, with leather upholstery, air conditioning and electric windows.Out of the only 644 Porsche Turbos produced in 1976 for the European market, #00060 is matching numbers, one of the first 200 and as such is very special. The 911 Turbo was the basis for the 934 group 4 car, its gearbox was almost identical to the 934, and the one we are pleased to offer here is one of these early cars. Delivered new to Porsche D’_sseldorf on 01st October 1976 (as shown in the cars Porsche certificate), #00060 was equipped with a Blaupunkt Bamberg radio, air conditioning (M559) and electric sunroof (M650). A German Classic Data expert evidence from 30.06.2016, is available in the cars file. This 930 has been restored completely several years ago and its engine has been rebuilt during this restoration. These affectionately named Ur -Turbos are in high demand nowadays and prices have risen considerably in recent years. The expert evidence available shows this Porsche with a value of äŒ240.000.Recently #00060s interior was restored/renewed and its engine management was repaired as necessary. The car received a new petrol tank, new fuel lines, brakes, wheels, tyres, shock absorbers and a new exhaust system. To make it ready for immediate use, all lubricants were changed.Offered here at a very sensible reserve this Porsche Turbo is certainly not to be missed by any collector or enthusiast. 1997 Bentley Brooklands 1997 Bentley Brooklands

1997 Bentley Brooklands

Lot #106 (Sale Order 6 of 88)

The Bentley Brooklands was introduced in 1992 as a replacement for the Bentley Mulsanne and Bentley Eight models. It was intended as a slightly cheaper alternative to the Bentley Turbo R featuring the same styling, and underpinnings of the Rolls-Royce 6.75 litre, V8 engine but without the more powerful models turbocharger. The Brooklands continued Bentleys design theme which was also used on contemporary Rolls-Royce vehicles throughout the 1980s and early 1990s. The exterior design featured the classic Bentley grill as well as dual headlights with wrap-around parking lights. As with many Bentley and Rolls-Royce vehicles, the Brooklands also featured the trademark descending boot lid and chrome B-pillars. The interior remained relatively unchanged from previous Bentley models but with a more curvaceous design element surrounding the leather-wrapped centre console. In autumn of 1996 Brooklands received an update in a form of light-pressure turbo, boosting power output to 300 bhp.Finished in Wildberry Metallic with a contrasting Parchment Leather interior, this lovely late 1997 model Brooklands has completed a mere 27,000 miles from new, supported by a file of invoices and handbooks. Offered with a UK V5 document, 3 sets of keys, and tools, this is an excellent example of a class leading executive car of the 1990s.View 1997 Bentley Brooklands on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1997-bentley-brooklands' for further details.

1989 Ferrari Testatossa 1989 Ferrari Testatossa

1989 Ferrari Testatossa

Lot #107 (Sale Order 7 of 88)

Ferraris flagship model of the 1980s, the Testarossa, revived a famous name from the Italian manufacturers past when it arrived in 1984. A car of abnormal design and performance, the new Testarossa was born to stupefy, as was clear from the day of its unveiling: instead of one of the traditional motor shows, Ferrari chose the stage of the famous Paris Lido nightclub for the new models launch. A …next generation Berlinetta Boxer, the Testarossa retained its predecessors amidships-mounted, 5.0-liter, flat-12 cylinder engine, which now boasted a maximum power output raised to 390bhp at 6,300rpm, courtesy of four-valve cylinder heads. Despite the power increase, smoothness and drivability were enhanced, the car possessing excellent top gear flexibility allowing for a maximum speed in excess of 180mph. Rivaling Lamborghinis Countach for presence, the Pininfarina-designed Testarossa succeeded brilliantly. Its side gill slats, which fed air to its side-mounted radiators, instantly became one of the modern eras most recognizable styling devices. A larger car than the 512BB – the increase in width being necessary to accommodate wider tires – the Testarossa managed the trick of combining high downforce with a low co-efficient of drag, its body design being notable for the absence of extraneous spoilers and other devices. Luxury touches in the well-equipped cabin included air conditioning, electrically adjustable seats, tilting steering wheel and plentiful leather. Detail improvements were made regularly throughout the Testarossas seven-year production run, one of the first being the adoption of dual door mirrors. One of the most recognizable and iconic models from the Italian company, the Testarossa would grace many young car enthusiasts bedroom walls in poster form during the late 1980s.Finished at the Maranello Ferrari works in October of 1989, the penultimate but one year of Testarossa production, this low-mileage example is finished in a classic Ferrari Rosso red, with a complementary black interior.Today, with just over 12,000 miles on the odometer, this example of Ferraris iconic supercar is in very good order. The interior shows extremely well, with only minor signs of use. The console and dash areas are clean. The exterior paint is detailed, and the black trim and rubber parts show very well. The compartments (engine and front trunk) are clean and original and the classic five-spoke star alloy wheels present beautifully. A better-kept, low mileage example will be hard to find anywhere; this surely represents the best way to purchase a landmark 1980s supercar of this calibre.Interested parties should note that VAT has not been paid on this car and will be applicable at the buyers local rate.View 1989 Ferrari Testarossa on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1989-ferrari-testarossa-4' for further details.

*Regretfully Withdrawn* 1960 Mercedes-Benz 190SL Roadster *Regretfully Withdrawn* 1960 Mercedes-Benz 190SL Roadster

*Regretfully Withdrawn* 1960 Mercedes-Benz 190SL Roadster

Lot #108 (Sale Order 8 of 88)

The Mercedes 300SL Gullwing coupe was unquestionably among the most remarkable designs of the post WWII era, but its extraordinary complexity and correspondingly phenomenal price both to buy and to run, severely restricted its sales appeal. Add to this the facts that the cabin became close to uninhabitable in hot climates, and the handling in inexperienced hands could be described as challenging, and the car became a very tricky sales proposition , especially in the crucial US market. The first part of a two-pronged solution was to introduce a convertible version of the 300SL, fractionally slower (for aerodynamic reasons) and with mildly tamed handling. But the major change was to bring in the 190SL roadster, First shown at the New York Motor Show in 1955, it carried the stunningly handsome lines and unmistakeable styling cues of the 300SL in a delightfully well-balanced two-seat design, on a conventional chassis, and was powered by a smooth two-litre four cylinder engine of proven reliability and more than adequate potency for any normal requirements. The model was an immediate success, and was to stay in production for more than eight years. Like many another open Mercedes it passed from …new, to …used , to …collectable status in almost unbroken succession, and has maintained its favoured status among collections of much more expensive classic for the past sixty years. This example dates from 1960, and is therefore from the late middle period of production, and is equipped with both a rare and very practical factory hardtop, and a folding soft top. It is very evident on examination that it has been the recipient of a great deal of care and benevolent interest all its life, which has been spent in the North-Eastern region of the USA. The coachwork is finished in Ebony black, and is of an appropriately glossy deep shine, and it has plainly been the recipient of expert refurbishment attention at some point in the cars life. The cars chrome brightwork, correct and original, has also been well kept, contributing to the overall pleasingly authentic feel, and, similarly, one of the rarest and most appealing aspects of its appearance is the very fine state of the shut lines, testifying to over half a centurys careful use. The interior leather is in a singularly handsome shade of wine-red, with correct, matching high-quality carpets., Again, it is evident that the interior has been received major attention at some point in the past, and also that the standard of authenticity and craftsmanship was of an uncommonly high standard. When the car came back to Europe, it was also found to possess exceptional driving qualities, and received a considerable amount of detailed servicing attention, including brakes and normal service items, from the highly-regarded London classic specialist engineer Bob Thredder, and a record of what was carried out is retained in the history file; this includes a current MOT certificate, and the car is of course registered at DVLA.This is a highly desirable example of a remarkable model, with the style and the engineering quality which is as evident now as when the car was introduced to the world, It is sure to provide many years of grace and entertainment, and will grace any collection.View 1960 Mercedes-Benz 190SL Roadster on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1960-mercedes-benz-190sl-roadster' for further details.

1963 Maserati 3500 GTi 1963 Maserati 3500 GTi

1963 Maserati 3500 GTi

Lot #109 (Sale Order 9 of 88)

Despite numerous racetrack successes that included Juan Manuel Fangios fifth World Championship – at the wheel of a 250F – and runner-up spot in the World Sportscar Championship with the fabulous 450S, both in 1957, the marques most successful season, Maserati was by that time facing a bleak future. Its parent companys financial difficulties eventually forced a withdrawal from racing and Maseratis survival strategy for the 1960s centered on establishing the company as a producer of road cars. The Modena marques new era began in 1957 with the launch of the Touring-bodied 3500GT, its first road model built in significant numbers.A luxury …2+2, the 3500GT drew on Maseratis competition experience, employing a tubular chassis frame and an engine derived from the 350S sports car unit of 1956.Its designer was none other than Giulio Alfieri, creator of the immortal Tipo 60/61 …Birdcage sports-racer and the man responsible for developing the 250F into a World Championship winner. The twin-overhead-camshaft, six-cylinder engine was a close relative of that used in the 250F and developed around 220bhp initially on carburettors, later examples producing 235bhp on Lucas mechanical fuel injection. Built initially with drum brakes and four-speed transmission, the 3500GT was progressively updated, gaining five speeds, front disc brakes and, finally, all-disc braking before production ceased in 1964.The wonderful 3500 GTi on offer today was the subject of an in-depth restoration from 2005 onwards. Finished in arguably the best colour combination for a 3500 – gunmetal grey over red this wonderful example of the marque is also reported to be in excellent mechanical order.3500GTs continue to gain popularity among collectors and are an excellent value compared to their Ferrari equivalents. Their handsome styling and luxurious appointments make them standout cars of their era.It is increasingly difficult to find good examples like this one. The presentation of this 3500GT makes it stand out from its peers and it is no doubt going to attract attention and admiration where ever it goes.View 1963 Maserati 3500 GTi Superleggera By Touring on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1963-maserati-3500-gti-superleggera-by-touring-4' for further details.

1988 Bentley Continental Convertible 1988 Bentley Continental Convertible

1988 Bentley Continental Convertible

Lot #110 (Sale Order 10 of 88)

The incomparable Bentley Continental sports saloon has been synonymous with effortless high speed cruising in the grand manner since its introduction on the R-Type chassis in 1952. This magnificent tradition seemed to have ended with the demise in 1965 of the successor S-Type Continental, only to re-emerge triumphantly in 1984 with the introduction of the T-Series Continental. Flagship of the range, the new Continental was a worthy scion of this noble British family, impeccably engineered and hand-built in the time-honoured manner by Mulliner Park Ward Limiteds peerless craftsmen. Like its illustrious forebears, the modern Continental represented the ultimate in bespoke coachbuilt motoring, designed to appeal to those discerning – and necessarily very wealthy – clients with the most refined of tastes, a well developed appreciation for the finer things of life and a refusal to accept anything less than the very best. Far from being an outmoded concept, this uncompromising approach was so successful, and demand for the exclusive Continental so sustained, that it remained in production well into the 1990s, the last (Convertible) examples being delivered in 1995, by which time the UK price had risen to well in excess of £100,000.The essence of Continental ownership was most aptly summed up by Autosports inimitable John Bolster. Writing in 1958, Bolster noted that the Continental was a classical design that achieved a high degree of excellence by sheer quality of construction: …In doing so, it develops an individuality, a character, call it what you will, that makes it entirely different from any other marque. The man who drives a Continental lives in an enchanted world, for everybody calls him …sir and he may park where other lesser cars may never tread. Despite the passage of more than 50 years, Bolsters words ring every bit as true today as they did then. The current vendor purchased this Continental Convertible for its condition, and driving quality and it has served its purpose being used for a long four week trip into Europe where it performed faultlessly. Recently serviced and with recent work to the brakes, the car notably benefited from a new hood some 18 months ago. Being offered for sale reluctantly, this beautiful Bentley Continentals history file includes sundry bills, current MoT certificate and a V5C registration document.View 1988 Bentley Continental Convertible on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1988-bentley-continental-convertible' for further details.

1981 Ferrari 308 GTSi 1981 Ferrari 308 GTSi

1981 Ferrari 308 GTSi

Lot #111 (Sale Order 11 of 88)

Ferraris line of highly successful V8-engined road cars began with the 308 GT4 of 1973. Badged as a …Di-no, the all-new 308 GT4 2+2 superseded the preceding Dino V6. The newcomers wedge-shaped styling – by Bertone rather than the customary Pininfarina – was not universally well received but there were no complaints about the performance of the 3.0-liter quad-cam V8 engine, which was carried over to its successor.Introduced at the Paris Auto Salon in 1975, the contemporary styled 308 GTB – Ferraris second V8 road car – marked a return to Pininfarina styling following the Bertone-designed 308 GT4. Badged as a …proper Ferrari rather than a Dino, the 308 GTB had changed little mechanically apart from a reduction in both wheelbase and weight, retaining its predecessors underpinnings and transversely mounted engine that now featured dry-sump lubrication. In road tune this superbly engineered power unit produced 255bhp, an out-put good enough to propel the 308 GTB to a top speed of over 150mph. Produced initially with fiberglass bodywork – the first time this material had been used for a production Ferrari, the Scaglietti-built 308 GTB used steel after April 1977. Further developments included the introduction of an open-top GTS version with Targa-style removable roof, the adoption of Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and, finally, revised cylinder heads with four valves per cylinder on the Quattrovalvole (QV) model in 1982. An exhilarating drivers car and a Ferrari purists delight, the 308 GTSi and its many derivatives proved a huge commercial success for Maranello, with over 12,000 sold.Delivered new to Italy in 1981, this stunning example was imported into the UK by the current owner to add to his varied collection of classic cars. The Ferrari shows a mere 42,000 miles recorded, with just over 4,000 miles having been covered in the last 24 years. Since being brought into the UK the 308 has benefitted from a repaint and now presents beautifully, with a very nice contrasting crema leather interior. The 308 is supplied with the correct Ferrari book pack, wallet, period brochure and tool kit, in addition to a UK V5 document and new MoT certificate. All in all a very well sorted and beautifully presented example of the ultimate entry level Ferrari.View 1981 Ferrari 308 GTSi on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1981-ferrari-308-gtsi-3' for further details.

When in 1975 her father inherited his Earldom, she received the tile Lady Diana Spencer, following that she became Her Royal Highness, the Princess of Wales on her marriage to The Prince of Wales at St Pauls Cathedral in 1981.As The Princess of Wales, Diana was known for her charitable work, and was in fact patron of over 100 charities, but with the pressures of Royalty taking its toll it was announced that her marriage was over and she was to separate. By 1994 after reducing the time spent working on her public life, and with a lesser need to travel with Royal Household vehicles the Princess knew exactly the car she wanted. Her choice of an Audi Cabriolet would well have been due to the cars understated elegance combined with a powerful engine, said to have first impressed the Princess when she borrowed a cabriolet belonging to Viscount Linleys wife Serena.Very few cars are actually owned by the Royal Mews, apart from the limousines intended for State use, and most vehicles made available for …Junior royalty are provided by manufacturers hopeful of some beneficial exposure, and this Audi Cabriolet was no exception having been presented to her for her personal use by Dovercourt Audi of St Johns Wood. With the Royal Mews not owning many cars apart from State vehicles, a few members of the Royalty were provided with personal cars by manufacturers direct, this is the same situation with the Audi we have on offer today. This blue Audi Cabriolet remains registered as L541 GJD and is offered to auction after long term storage, having not been in the public eye for many years. With its history file containing the relevant handbooks and manuals and several good-quality photos of Diana using the car, one of which has the young Princes in the back with the registration number clearly visible. The vehicle was purchased by the current vendor in 2004 and used it as an everyday family car to approximately 2009 then placed it in storage, once the full importance of the vehicle became apparent. The vehicle has been captured in numerous press images showing the Princess stepping in and out of the Audi with the number plate clearly visible.View 1994 Audi Cabriolet on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1994-audi-cabriolet' for further details.

1967 Lotus Elan S3

Lot #113 (Sale Order 13 of 88)

With the introduction of the improved S3 model in September 1965, the Elan became available as a fixed-head coup’© for the first time, having previously been sold only in drophead form with optional separate hardtop. Other civilising improvements included electric windows, re-designed dashboard and better trim. Powerful, light in weight and endowed with exceptional roadholding and handling, the Elan proved an immense commercial success for Lotus, slightly fewer than 9,000 being produced by the time production ceased in 1973.Most interestingly this S3 was not first road registered until 1980 and we understand from previous sale record research that the car may well have been used in competition possibly by the factory prior to that date, the body tub and the rear wings having been modified to accommodate a wider rear track indicating racing specification. We understand over the years the car was the subject of considerable restoration including much engine work. Most recently new front discs as well as many mechanical ancillaries have been renewed making the car an excellent road going example. Offered in very good mechanical condition all round it has recently undergone a new MoT inspection.Since its first registration this charming British sportcar has had a mere 4/5 caring owners meaning that it remains in excellent cosmetic order throughout.Finished in the iconic colour combination of British racing green/gold with black interior, the car is offered with Swansea V5 registration document. The Lotus Elan was named one of the finest handling cars of all time, with light nimble steering and performance to match, this example with its interesting history is certainly a fine example of the marque.View c.1967 Lotus Elan S3 Drophead Coup’© on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/c-1967-lotus-elan-s3-drophead-coupe' for further details.

1974 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Veloce

Lot #114 (Sale Order 14 of 88)

A modern classic by Pininfarina, the simple-yet-elegant “Kamm tail Spider bodywork premiered on the 1970 Spider Veloce would prove enduringly popular, lasting into the 1990s. The Spiders mechanics were essentially those of the Giulia saloon while the engine was the GTVs double-overhead-camshaft four. The original 1750 version was a one-year-only model, with the advent of the Spica-injected 2000 model in 1971. Wind tunnel testing resulted in the 2000s signature drag-reducing Kamm tail, while other improvements over the earlier Duetto models included bigger brakes and a limited-slip differential. Outstanding speed, acceleration and handling were all characteristics of this class-leading model, which nevertheless possessed a quite remarkable docility, even at high speeds. This car on offer today is finished in in Rosso red with black interior, first registered in the USA, from the dry climate of California, the car is in good all round mechanical and cosmetic condition, it comes with Italian registration where it has been for the last 9 years and a recently passed MOT for an easy UK registration. The car comes complete with tools and is believed to be 4 owners from new the car. A perfect car for the coming summer months.View 1974 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Veloce on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1974-alfa-romeo-2000-spider-veloce' for further details.

1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SL 1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SL

1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SL

Lot #115 (Sale Order 15 of 88)

When Mercedes redesigned its famed SL in 1971, there was a lot of equity behind it – after all, when the incomparable 300SL Coupe and Roadster were built fewer than 20 years before, they set the world on fire. The next-generation 230/250/280SL in 1963 brought Mercedes sports car down to Earth, replacing both the incredible 300SL and four-cylinder 190SL. For the next SL, Mercedes started with the chassis of the mid-size “W114/115 model and added the motors from the large “W116 S-Class. The result was a luxurious V8 Convertible that ended up being the longest passenger car series ever produced by Mercedes to date.By the late 1980s – near the end of production – the third-generation Mercedes-Benz SL was somewhat dated. Although it had gotten various updates and new engines over the years, it was still fundamentally the same car Mercedes-Benz had introduced back in 1972. Despite its age, the final iteration, the 560SL, remained a prized automotive status symbol and an iconic part of the brands lineup, until it was finally replaced by the all-new fourth-generation SL in 1990. This highly original example of the Mercedes-Benz 560SL is believed to have been a one owner car in California until may 2015 when it was purchased by its last owner, a collector in Germany. Its one of the extremely rare 560 SLs and one of the last 107 designed models, this example with just 42,000 miles since new and believed by the last owner to be correct, and is condition would indicate so. Elegantly presented in red with original tan interior, this beautiful 560SL is complete with both soft and hardtops and tools. A high quality Mercedes-Benz ideally suited to open top touring, with nearly all the power amenities as a modern car, yet with the elegance and style of the classic Mercedes-Benz SL. 1986 Austin Healey BN2 100M Spec

Lot #116 (Sale Order 16 of 88)

Automotive developer and racer Donald Healey, looking to reach a broader sports car market, developed this iconic British sports car in 1953 using a 4-cylinder Austin A90 engine. An initial success, British Motors Corporation saw the value of a strong competitor to the Triumph TR Series and took over production. The BN2 was fitted with a real four-speed manual transmission, still with overdrive on the top two gears. Other features that distinguish the BN2 from the BN1 are the slightly larger front wheel arches, different rear axle and being the first 100 with optional two-tone paint. In 1955, a high-performance 100M model was introduced, with larger carburettors, a cold air box to increase engine air flow, high-lift camshaft and 8.1:1 compression pistons. It produced 110 bhp (82 kW) at 4500 rpm. The front suspension was stiffened and the bonnet gained louvres, along with a bonnet belt. Approximately 70% of 100Ms were finished with a two-tone paint scheme, including one White over Red and another in Black over Pink for display at the 1955 London Motor Show. In all, 640 100Ms were built by the factory. This Right-hand drive BN2 …100M is believed to have been LeMans specd early on in its life and has all of the correct specifications with upgraded SU carbs rather than the H6 purleys, the reason for the upgraded SUs was for reliability and ease of road use.Presented in two tone Healey blue and white, the Healey was re-imported back to the UK in the 1990s, appeared on …the cars the star documentary with Roger Menadue, Healeys lead road tester and has recently been awarded 2nd place in the 2016 Austin Healey Club National Concours dElegance.Recently fully serviced and Motd the vendor describes the car to be in great mechanical working order and ready to use this summer. 1967 Mercedes-Benz 250SL Pagoda 1967 Mercedes-Benz 250SL Pagoda

1967 Mercedes-Benz 250SL Pagoda

Lot #117 (Sale Order 17 of 88)

The Mercedes-Benz W113 roadsters, designed by Paul Bracq, were produced from 1963 through to 1971. They were known as the …pagoda roof SL. All models were equipped with an inline-six cylinder engine with multi-port fuel injection. The bonnet, trunk lid, door skins and tonneau cover were made of aluminium to reduce weight. The comparatively short and wide chassis, combined with an excellent suspension, powerful brakes and radial tires gave the W 113 superb handling for its time. The styling of the front, with its characteristic upright Bosch “fishbowl headlights and simple chrome grille, dominated by the large three-pointed star in the nose panel, paid homage to the then already legendary 300 SL roadster. The 250 SL was introduced at the 1967 Geneva Motor Show. Production had already commenced in December 1966 and ended in January 1968. The short one-year production run makes the 250 SL the rarest and most collectable of the W 113 series cars. The 250 SL retained the stiffer suspension and sportier feel of the early SLs, but provided improved agility with a new engine and rear disc brakes. Range also improved with increased fuel tank capacity from 65 L to 82 L. Like its predecessor, the 250 SL was offered with a 4-speed automatic transmission, and 4-speed or ZF 5-speed manual transmissions. For the first time, an optional limited slip differential was also available. The 250 SL also marked the introduction of a 2+2 body style, the so-called “California Coup’©, which had only the removable hardtop and no soft-top: a small fold-down rear bench seat replaced the soft-top well between passenger compartment and trunk. Offered here is the very rare right hand drive California Coupe with manual gearbox, finished in the desirable white with contrasting black hardtop. The current vendor is only the third owner of this very original car which is currently showing just 33,000 miles since new. We are told that there has been very light restoration on the car and the chrome work was recently sent to England where it was cleaned and restored. This car presents very well and is a superb opportunity to acquire the rarest of the Pagoda models in its original and unmolested form. The car is supplied with her Maltese registration certificate and a valid VRT until 2018.View 1967 Mercedes-Benz 250 SL Pagoda on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1967-mercedes-benz-250-sl-pagoda-2' for further details.

1974 Aston Martin V8 Saloon 1974 Aston Martin V8 Saloon

1974 Aston Martin V8 Saloon

Lot #118 (Sale Order 18 of 88)

Aston Martin had always planned that the DBS of 1967 would be powered by the companys new V8 engine, first seen in 5-litre form in the works Lola-Aston Martin sports-racing cars. Production problems, however, intervened and the DBS used the 4-litre, twin overhead camshaft, straight six of the concurrently produced DB6. It was not until September 1967, that the DBS V8 was finally announced with production commencing the following April. With its platform chassis and independent suspension – coil spring/wishbone front, de Dion tube rear with Watt linkage and twin radius arms – the fine handling DBS was a perfect home for Tadek Mareks all-alloy V8.Boasting four overhead camshafts and Bosch electronic fuel injection, the 5,340cc V8 produced an impressive 320bhp at 5,000rpm; the resultant 160mph plus performance was nothing short of sensational in 1970. After David Brown sold Aston Martin in February 1972, the DBS V8 was replaced by the Series II model, now simply called the Aston Martin V8. Gone were the four headlamps and slatted grille and in their place was a black mesh grille flanked by single headlamps. The major mechanical changes were limited to electronic ignition and standard air conditioning. One of only 967 examples built between 1973 and 1978, this stunning example is recognisable by its twin headlights, black grille and the pronounced air intake on the bonnet. We are pleased to note this stunning Aston is fitted with its original 310hp V8 and automatic gearbox, which when combined make for very nicely driving GT car.Finished in a striking combination of Navy Blue metallic with a contrasting grey leather interior, and offered with Dutch title papers, original owners manual and history file, this is a beautiful thoroughbred GT car which offers strong investment potential for the future.View 1974 Aston Martin V8 Saloon on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1974-aston-martin-v8-saloon-4' for further details.

1985 Ferrari 208 GTS Turbo 1985 Ferrari 208 GTS Turbo

1985 Ferrari 208 GTS Turbo

Lot #119 (Sale Order 19 of 88)

In 1980 Ferrari introduced a two-litre version of the 308, the 208 GTB and 208 GTS. Produced mainly for the domestic Italian market, where new cars with engines above 2-litres were subjected to a much higher value added tax. The engine was de-bored to 68.8 mm (giving it an undersquare design) for a total displacement of 1,990.64 cc, resulting in one of the smallest V8 engines ever produced. Fed through four Weber 34 DCNF carburettors, the V8 produced 153 bhp at 6800 rpm.In 1982 the two-litre 208 was succeeded by a turbocharged and fuel injected version, the 208 GTS turbo unveiled at the Turin Motor Show. It was the first ever turbocharged road-going Ferrari. The 208s engine was given a single KKK turbocharger with wastegate valve, Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and Marelli electronic ignition. Forced induction increased power to 217 bhp at 7000 rpm. A GTS version was introduced a year later, in 1983.Both outside and inside the 208 Turbo was almost identical to the contemporary 308 Quattrovalvole. It could be recognized by NACA ducts in front of the rear wheel well openings and “turbo badging on the tail and shrouded exhaust pipes; the normally optional deep front spoiler and black roof aileron were standard.Production ended in 1985 after 437 GTB turbo and 250 GTS turbo cars were produced. In 1986 they were replaced by the 328-based, intercooled GTB/GTS Turbo. The 208 turbo offered here was built in 1985 and first registered in 1987 when it was imported to Malta by the first owner.Finished in Rosso Corsa over Nero leather, the car was used regularly by the first owner around the small island. It was then bought by its second owner who was the President of the Ferrari Owners Club in Malta, who set about a comprehensive restoration. The current vendor is the third owner and has been in possession of the car for the last 17 years. During his ownership the car has been fastidiously maintained and serviced every year at the Cronos Ferrari specialist in Sicily. The vendor describes the car to be in pristine condition, completely rust free and an absolute joy to drive. This particular car was also featured in the Hollywood film, …The Devils Double, where the car was driven sporting early 1990s Iraqi plates by Dominic Cooper. We are told the car performed her duties admirably during a gruelling day of filming, without missing a beat. The vehicle comes with her Maltese registration and a valid VRT until July 2018.View 1985 Ferrari 208 GTS Turbo on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1985-ferrari-208-gts-turbo-2' for further details.

1950 Austin A90 Atlantic Convertible 1950 Austin A90 Atlantic Convertible

1950 Austin A90 Atlantic Convertible

Lot #120 (Sale Order 20 of 88)

Designed in 1947, built in and released in 1948, the A90 convertible was conceived to earn dollars, and the Austin Motor Co. had it sights set firmly on the US to get them. Initial reaction in the States was that of trepidation, a quirky British car, certainly different, but what is it? Along to the rescue came Alan Hess, the then PR man at Austin, and well known for his daring stunts in the interests of promoting Longbridge products. He conceived the idea of proving the worth of this new Austin, and took off for the racetrack at Indianapolis. With a standard production convertible finished in Seafoam green metallic paint, with biscuit coloured interior, he thrashed the course for 7 days and 7 nights continuously, with the aid of his fellow compatriots, Dennis Buckley, Charles Goodacre, and George Coates. The rewards were high, 63 speed and endurance records achieved, some in new categories, others stolen from their American holders. Today it has a cult status, and is highly sought after by those enthusiasts who long for something Flamboyant, Americanised and Over the Top. In other words something special, and different. This wonderful example was the property of King Farouk of Egypt, the penultimate King of Egypt, succeeding his father Fuad I in 1936. Farouk was only 32 when overthrown in the 1952 military coup detat, and then forced to abdicate and exile to Switzerland. He died in 1965 in Italy. The A90 was first delivered in April of 1950, finished in Seafoam Green with Maize trim, and supplied with an optional radio, which is still fitted today. On his exile Farouk took the car with him to Switzerland, where it later fell into the hands of an A90 enthusiast. In the late 1990s the Atlantic was repatriated into the UK and the long term of ownership of a Mr. David Wilkins, who commissioned a comprehensive restoration over the coming years. After completion the car was then shown on the club stand at the 2014 NEC Classic Car Show. A well known car in Atlantic circles, this nicely restored example, finished in Ice Blue metallic with a Royal Blue leather interior, is supplied with a file of invoices, correspondence, copies of previous title documents, a newly issued MoT certificate, original parts and service manuals and even its original Egyptian registration plate. An interesting choice for the collector, with a fascinating history.View 1950 Austin A90 Atlantic Convertible on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1950-austin-a90-atlantic-convertible' for further details.

1963 INNOCENTI 1100S SPIDER

Lot #120A (Sale Order 21 of 88)

Innocenti was an Italian machinery works originally established by Ferdinando Innocenti in 1920. After World War II, the company was famous for many years for Lambretta scooters and from 1961 to 1976, Innocenti built, under licence, the Mini with 998cc and 1,275cc engines. At the November 1960 Turin Motor Show, the 950 Spider was presented. Styled by Ghia and produced by OSI near Milan, the style was classical of the era with rear-wheel drive and aesthetically, with small rear fins; the formula of a small car with a small engine and small price tag would meet the demand of the Italian public. From 1963, the car was equipped with a new engine with increased capacity up to 1098cc, designated ‘S’ which also offered small aesthetic changes and the adoption of disc brakes. This fantastic little car is believed to be one of only two in the UK and one of only 2,000 made. It is the later ‘S’ model with the bigger engine, twin carburetors and disc brakes. This car was imported to the UK in 2015 from Rome and has had four owners; it is now registered in the UK with an MoT test certificate valid for a year. The owner believes it underwent a major mechanical rebuild in 2010 and has had a new fuel tank. With the running gear of the Austin-Healey Mk. II Sprite underpinning the car, parts and knowhow are cheap and readily available, thus ensuring this hugely desirable and rare Italian sports car can offer enjoyment for years to come.

1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Sport Cabriolet

Lot #121 (Sale Order 22 of 88)

Porsche developed a reputation early on for their surprising performance from their small displacement rear-engine sports and racing cars. These …giant killers could outperform cars with much higher horsepower figures by making light cars with incredible handling. This combination gave Porsches their truly unique driving characteristics and dedicated following of Porsche enthusiasts.Starting in 1963 with the original 911, Porsche has produced a line of six-cylinder rear-engine sportscars that could compete with much more powerful cars thanks to their low weight and superior handling. The 911 quickly became an icon of performance and handling and offered a driving experience unlike anything else. 1987 Ferrari Mondial 1987 Ferrari Mondial

1987 Ferrari Mondial

Lot #122 (Sale Order 23 of 88)

The final Mondial evolution was 1989s Mondial t (Coupe and Cabriolet). It was a substantially changed model, “spearhead of a new generation of V8 Ferraris, according to Road & Track magazine. It was visually different from preceding Mondial models, the most recognisable being the redesign of the air intakes to a smaller rectangular shape. Additionally, the door-handles were of a visually different design, as were the front and rear bumpers which became body coloured. New front and rear wings cover wider tracks and are re-profiled to a fuller shape compared to preceding models, which feature a rolled lip.The …t called attention to the cars new engine/transmission layout: the previously-transverse engine was now mounted longitudinally whilst the gearbox remained transverse, thus forming a …t. By adopting this layout, a longer engine could be mounted lower in the chassis, improving handling dramatically. The …t configuration was used by Ferraris Formula One cars of the 1980s, and would be the standard for the marques future mid-engined V8 cars, beginning with the 348, introduced later in the year. The transverse manual gearbox was fitted with a Limited Slip Differential with a twin-plate clutch design with bevel gears driving the wheels.Considerably more spacious than previous Ferrari 2+2s, the Pininfarina-styled Mondial has been described by Car magazine as …the closest youll get to supercar family transport. This very special 3.4 T Mondial Cabriolet on offer today shows little mileage for its age and is one of just 51 right hand drive examples produced, it is supplied with a history file including service history and previous Mots. It is rare to find such a spectacular car in such a colour combination, surely a magnificent opportunity to acquire a car with great provenance and careful ownership, simply stunning.View 1987 Ferrari Mondial on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1987-ferrari-mondial' for further details.

2005 ASTON MARTIN VANQUISH S 2005 ASTON MARTIN VANQUISH S

2005 ASTON MARTIN VANQUISH S

Lot #122A (Sale Order 24 of 88)

Developed from the 1998 Project Vantage concept car, the V12 Vanquish entered production in 2001. The Vanquish marked a large step in the company’s engineering featuring a bonded aluminium chassis combined with many pieces of traditional craftsmanship ushering in a new era for Aston Martin. V12 Vanquish featured a body tub made from extruded aluminium and Carbon Fibre with extensive use of more Carbon Fibre and composite materials throughout the crash structure of the car. This extremely rigid and safe body-shell was then clothed in hand-finished, Superformed aluminium panels. Underneath the handmade bonnet sat a 460bhp version of the Aston Martin V12 engine, delivering its power via a 6-speed manual gearbox controlled by an electro-hydraulic paddle shift gear change. Building on the sales success of the original Vanquish the Vanquish S featured an increase in engine power (up from 460bhp to 520bhp) and revised gear and back axle ratios. Top speed was quoted as being in excess of 200mph, making it one of the fastest Aston Martin road cars built at Newport Pagnell. The exterior panels were still lovingly hand finished in the factory panel shop from Superformed aluminium. Discreet changes to the ‘S’ included a bigger, revised grille, front splitter and a raised rear ‘spoiler’ built into the boot lid to keep the car stable at high speed. Inside, the Vanquish S showed what could be achieved with beautiful hand stitched leather. The dashboard and many of the smaller interior pieces were now trimmed in hide adding to the bespoke feel of the already impressive coupe or 2+2. Very late cars adopted updated switchgear, an Aston Martin audio system and standard fit Satellite Navigation screen. Finished in meteorite silver with obsidian black interior, this UK delivered right hand drive Vanquish S has covered under 20,000 miles from new. It comes with a vast history file showing that no expense has ever been spared and a full main dealer service record to support it. This includes an upgraded Alpine sound system with rear camera and the very rare and sought after, manual gearbox conversion by Aston Martin Works. Also included is the original manual, a V5C log book and MOT certificate valid until November 2017.

Lot #123 (Sale Order 25 of 88)

…Most important was the double overhead cam engine. Like Rolls-Royce, no horsepower figure was quoted, but surely it was at least 320. More important was its massive amount of torque. Taken together with the turbine-like characteristics of the V12 engine, it mattered little which gear one was in or at what speed. Stanley Nowak on the 356GT4 2+2, …Ferrari on the Road.Introduced towards the end of 1972, the 365GT4 2+2 was the biggest and best equipped four-seater Ferrari so far. Flagship of the Maranello range, it reaffirmed Ferraris determination to compete with the worlds finest luxury saloons. Based on the preceding 365GT 2+2, albeit lower, longer and wider, the newcomer was fitted with a four-cam version of the 4.4-litre V12 engine while retaining its predecessors mechanical underpinnings. A total of only 524 had been completed by the time production ceased in 1976.This wonderful and original right hand drive 2+2 Pininfarina Coupe is an example of the ultimate Ferrari of its day and – being one of only 100 right hand drive cars in existence- it is also incredibly rare. Chassis 19603 was the subject of an engine rebuild in 1999. Having covered less than 5,000 miles since the carburettors and clutch were replaced in 2014, the brakes and suspension were also rebuilt in the early part of 2016, and most recently tuned by Dick Lovett in April this year.Finished in arguably the best colour combination for a 365, this is perhaps your last chance to own a front engined manual V12 Ferrari on carburettors for under £100,000.View 1976 Ferrari 365 GT4 2+2 on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1976-ferrari-365-gt4-22-3' for further details.

1989 Porsche 911 Speedster 1989 Porsche 911 Speedster

1989 Porsche 911 Speedster

Lot #124 (Sale Order 26 of 88)

In 1989 Porsche reintroduced one of their most iconic body styles – the Speedster. This uncompromising variant hadnt been offered since 1959, a time when 356s were rolling out of the factory and the 911 was still five years from inception. The first 911 Speedster was displayed at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1987 but it would be 16 months before production actually began in January 1989. Regular 911 Cabriolet body shells were used for the mechanically standard Speedster, these being equipped with a cut-down, more steeply raked aluminium framed windscreen and special frameless one-piece side windows. Both the standard narrow-body and wider Turbo shell were available in most markets although bizarrely only the latter could be specified in North America and Germany. Inside, the seat rails were dropped by 20mm, the seats themselves having been a combination of Sport backs with standard lower sections. The rear seats were disposed of and the vacant area carpeted like the Club Sport, an optional storage box (again like that of the CS) having been a sensible upgrade. A manual heater and wind-down windows were fitted as standard. 2065 Speedsters were built (all in 1989), 63 of which were imported to the UK in RHD specification, and 823 went to North America. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a genuine UK RHD Speedster, supplied with a very comprehensive maintenance record. Described by the vendor to be in good all-round condition this speedster is finished in silver on a black interior, shows just over 55,000 miles on the clock and resembles an excellent opportunity to own one of the most iconic and elegant of 911s. Offered with the car is a full service history, the original tools, spare wheel, jack, UK V5C Log Book and has recently had a new Mot. This beautiful iteration if the iconic Porsche Speedster offers its lucky new owner a cast iron investment which also happens to be a fantastic and useable fast road car.View 1989 Porsche 911 Speedster on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1989-porsche-911-speedster-2' for further details.

1962 Bentley S2 Continental 1962 Bentley S2 Continental

1962 Bentley S2 Continental

Lot #125 (Sale Order 27 of 88)

…The Bentley S2, with its sister Rolls-Royce models, gives high-speed travel in silence and luxury, while the driver and passengers enjoy the sense of well being that only British craftsmanship can give. The V8 engine, with its flashing acceleration, certainly contributes to the result and is a definite step forward in Rolls-Royce technique. – Autosport. The Continental version of the Bentley remained, as ever, exclusively a coachbuilt car. The firms of H J Mulliner, Park Ward, James Young and Hooper (with a solitary example) all offered bodies on the Continental S2 chassis, which differed from the standard version by virtue of its four-leading-shoe front brakes, shorter radiator and, up to chassis number …BC99BY, higher gearing. Of these four, James Young and Hooper would soon cease coachbuilding, leaving only Mulliner and Park Ward to carry on a noble tradition.Consolidating its in-house coachbuilding capability, Rolls-Royce purchased H J Mulliner in 1959 and two years later the firm was merged with Park Ward, which had been acquired in 1939. The car offered here is a rather early example of Park Wards influential …straight through wing body style.Bentleys of this era were always bought by illustrious clients, and this example is no exception. The S2 was purchased from new by the entrepreneur John Bloom, best known for his role in the “Washing Machine Wars of 1962-64 when he drastically reduced prices by direct sales that cut out the retailers. His company Rolls Razor made great inroads into the market but several manufacturers obtained injunctions to stop them selling at below the fixed retail price. Bloom was a controversial figure whose aggressive techniques shook up a complacent market but who gave new power to the consumer.Bloom was seeking a Rolls Silver Cloud III Drophead Coupe at the time, however as supply was so limited he resorted to purchasing the Bentley version and sending it back to the factory to have the appearance altered to that of the comparable Rolls Royce of the time. Later the Bentley was owned by the very popular and highly successful pianist Russ Conway, who was a feature of the UK Singles Chart between 1957 and 1963. Ownership passed subsequently to the Managing Director of Bristol Motor Cars, who had the S2 converted to Left Hand Drive specification and shipped to the United States, where it stayed for many years. Our vendor purchased the car and repatriated it into the UK, sympathetically restoring the S2 to the beautiful example you see here today. Chassis BC67BY was returned to its original Bentley S2 specification, and painted in Steel Grey, with a retrimmed grey leather interior. The current Left Hand Drive format has been retained, though it would be straightforward to convert the car back to Right Hand Drive if desired.Offered with a UK V5 registration document, this unique Continental is genuinely a very special example of one of the finest post-war Bentley coupes.View 1962 Bentley S2 Continental Drophead Coupe by Park Ward on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1962-bentley-s2-continental-drophead-coupe-by-park-ward' for further details.

1972 Porsche 911 2.4 S

Lot #126 (Sale Order 28 of 88)

Porsches long-running 911 arrived in 1964, replacing the 356. The latters rear-engined layout was retained, but the 911 switched to unitary construction for the body shell and dropped the 356s VW-based suspension in favour of a more modern McPherson strut and trailing arm arrangement. In its first incarnation, Porsches single-overhead-camshaft, air-cooled flat six displaced 1,991cc and produced 130bhp; progressively enlarged and developed, it would eventually grow to more than three litres and, in turbo-charged form, put out well over 300bhp. The first of countless upgrades came in 1966 with the introduction of the 911S. Easily distinguishable by its stylish Fuchs five-spoked alloy wheels, the …S featured a heavily revised engine producing 160bhp, the increased urge raising top speed by 10mph to 135mph.A lengthened wheelbase introduced in 1969 improved the 911s handling, and then in 1970 the engine underwent the first of many enlargements, to 2.2 litres. The Ss power output then was 180bhp, increasing to 190bhp with the introduction of the 2.4-litre engine for 1972. Tenacious adhesion, responsive steering, very good flexibility, superb brakes, meticulous finish and a solid, unburstable feel were just some of the virtues praised by Motor magazine in its test of a Porsche 911 in 1973.This beautifully presented 911 is offered in the very desirable colour combination of black on black with Recaro sports seats. The car benefitted from a complete concours standard restoration in 1988 with £30,000 spent in work. Since then the car has been with the current vendor and has been sympathetically maintained by marque specialists. Recent work has been carried out to ensure the engine is tuned and sealed correctly, chrome trims replaced and the car generally overhauled. The car feels tight on the road with the engine pulling smoothly and progressively on the pristine Fuchs wheels. In overall good condition and only requiring minor detailing to bring back to concours condition, this car presents an excellent chance to own one of the best Porsches of the 1970s. An extensive history file with various invoices, a current MOT and UK V5C registration all come with the car.View 1972 Porsche 911 2.4 S on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1972-porsche-911-2-4-s' for further details.

1958 Autobianchi Bianchina Transformabile 1958 Autobianchi Bianchina Transformabile

1958 Autobianchi Bianchina Transformabile

Lot #127 (Sale Order 29 of 88)

Founded in 1899 by Eduardo Bianchi, the Bianchi Company made vehicles for 56 years. These included full-size cars, tanks, and trucks with Mercedes engines. But the factory was destroyed during the war and he had been unable to recover. In 1955, Milanese industrialist Ferrucio Quintavalle organised a new company involving Bianchi, Fiat, and the Pirelli Tire Company, called Autobianchi SpA. Trucks would continue to be manufactured by the firm, and motorcycles would be manufactured by Eduardo Bianchi SpA.Two years later, at the Milan show, the first car to carry the name Autobianchi arrived. The Bianchina Transformabile (Convertible) was one of the first adaptations of the 500 Nuova, using its chassis, engine, and transmission, but with a very attractively styled coupe body with a roll-back roof, reminiscent of the French Vespa 400.In 1958, it was given a stronger engine and became available as a sedan, coupe, convertible, and station wagon. During this year, Giuseppe Bianchi, Eduardos son, sold the family holdings in Autobianchi to Fiat, and in 1963, Fiat gained full control. In 1960, just over 30,000 of these cars were built. The 1960 Geneva show saw the debut of what was arguably the prettiest of all the models, the Bianchina Special Convertible. It was a little luxury car, with a luxury price, and it was immediately accepted by the fashionable jet setters as a second car or runabout. Designer Luigi Rapi drew a well-proportioned shape, highlighted by a side spear chrome moulding. Interior fittings were more attractive. The indicators were fitted separately below the headlights, not on the bumper guards. The cooling slots on the side below the doors and the chrome borders below the body edge were eliminated, and the windscreen was more angular. The model went through three series with minor alterations and improvements, in total 9,350 units of the Bianchina Cabriolet were built.Finished in two tone Azzurro blue over cream, this cute and largely unmolested Autobianchi Bianchina is said to be in good overall condition and its …Transformable roof makes for pleasurable summertime driving.View 1958 Autobianchi Bianchina Transformabile on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1958-autobianchi-bianchina-transformabile' for further details.

1990 Porsche 994 S2 1990 Porsche 994 S2

1990 Porsche 994 S2

Lot #128 (Sale Order 30 of 88)

Announced in 1981, the 944 was the third of Porsches new family of front-engined sports cars. A close relative of the 924 original, the 944 was constructed along similar lines and from a distance was hard to tell apart from its progenitor. Beneath the bodywork (50mm wider than the 924s) was a 2.5-litre, 163bhp overhead-camshaft …four fitted with twin balancer shafts to counter the vibration often encountered in such units. The rear transaxle – a five-speed affair this time – was retained, while the 924-type running gear was suitably up-rated to cope with the 944s superior performance. Subsequent developments included a Turbo, 16-valve 944S, 3.0-litre S2 models and a cabriolet, while the base models 8-valve engine grew to 2.7-litres. Porsche claimed a maximum power output of 211bhp for the S2 and a top speed of around 150mph.This particular Porsche 944 S2 is a two owner car from new. An original UK specification car that was shipped to Hong Kong. The next owner purchased it from a local doctor in 2000 who then re patriated to the UK shipping the car with him and has owned the car ever since. With its Original hood, immaculate interior, carpets and door panels, and all dials and gauges work as they should it has had a recent service and fluid and filter change. Having covered just 65,000 miles in total this low mileage S2, from such long term ownership must be one of the best on the market today. Offered with sundry service bills, current MoT/tax and Swansea V5C document, this is a great value-for-money car offering performance approaching that of a 3.0-litre 911 Carrera at a fraction of the cost.View 1990 Porsche 944 S2 3.0 Litre on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1990-porsche-944-s2-3-0-litre' for further details.

1960 Jaguar Mark 2 3.4 1960 Jaguar Mark 2 3.4

1960 Jaguar Mark 2 3.4

Lot #129 (Sale Order 31 of 88)

Although the Mk I was a great success, selling four times as many as the larger Jaguar saloons, Jaguar boss William Lyons was not content. He knew it could be improved.Happily, virtually every aspect that had been criticised received attention in the new MkII range introduced in October 1959. These cars were to rank among the best loved Jaguars ever made and are today regarded as classics. There were some detail changes, including a redesigned interior that was more modern but retained the traditional Jaguar image.Jaguar saloons led the field in production and touring car races during much of the 60s. Not surprisingly the quickest and most successful private entries came from John Coombs Jaguar dealership in Guilford. John Coombs had significant race experience and his dealership simply got it right for a fortunate few racing enthusiasts. Very early on that included Hill, Salvadori and Salmon.Rolling off the production line on November the 13th 1960, this particular Mark 2 was subject to an older bare metal restoration and retrim that took place in 1991. Reflective of its current condition, the car has been very well looked after and can only be described to be in all-round good overall condition. The car was also fitted with power steering at this time for increased usability. In 2008 the car received further attention focusing on its mechanics which included an engine rebuild, new electrics, aux fan, breaks upgrade and automatic conversion (matching manual gearbox with overdrive is included in this sale).Finished in green over green this sale represents a fantastic opportunity to purchase a very loved and usable example of the iconic Mark 2 Jaguar that has even been fitted with electronic ignition just last year. Not to be missed. View 1960 Jaguar Mark 2 3.4 on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1960-jaguar-mark-2-3-4' for further details.

1974 Jaguar E-Type Series III 1974 Jaguar E-Type Series III

1974 Jaguar E-Type Series III

Lot #131 (Sale Order 33 of 88)

Whilst the concept of the Jaguar E Type was without doubt one of the finest pieces of automotive design ever to be put into general production, one of the problems with its continued development was the inevitable weight gain. Throughout the 1960s ever more stringent safety legislation emanated from the USA and, as this market was a major breadwinner for Jaguar, it was perhaps unavoidable that the purity of the original design would be compromised to compete within it. Emissions legislation had forced the adoption of twin Stromberg carburettors on trans-Atlantic bound cars resulting in a reduction in power to 177bhp instead of the quoted 265bhp for European examples breathing through triple Webers. However, the balance was to be redressed with the introduction of the Series 3 model powered by Jaguars new 5.3-litre, overhead camshaft V12 developing 272bhp. This resulted in a top speed in excess of 140mph with 0-100mph taking just 16 seconds, the fastest ever acceleration figures for the model. Revisions to the running gear included anti-dive geometry on the front suspension and ventilated disc brakes. Power steering was standard and flared wheel arches were incorporated to allow fitment of wider rubber to maintain grip. A deeper radiator aperture with chrome grille completed the restyle. With manual or automatic transmission options the Series 3 ensured the immortal E Type would survive into the new decade of the 1970s.This lovely original matching numbers example rolled off the Browns Lane production line on 13th July 1973, to be despatched later that summer to local dealer P.J. Evans (which later became Evans Halshaw). The E-Type was finished in Old English White with a Russet leather interior and both black convertible hood and hardtop. Our vendor, a hugely enthusiastic owner and prominent member of the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club, has owned the E-Type for a number of years. During this time he has always maintained the car very carefully, as have the 4 previous custodians. Showing 80,000 miles recorded from new, it is really welcoming to see such a nice genuine example of what is rapidly becoming one of the most popular of the E-Type variants.View 1974 Jaguar E-Type Series III Roadster on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1974-jaguar-e-type-series-iii-roadster-2' for further details.

1951 Jaguar XK120 Roadster 1951 Jaguar XK120 Roadster

1951 Jaguar XK120 Roadster

Lot #132 (Sale Order 34 of 88)

The Jaguar XK120 caused an absolute sensation when it was launched at the 1948 Motor Show. In the post-war era of rationing, general austerity and hardship it came as a stunning vision of what the future might hold.It was, without doubt, the most beautiful car in the world, and the fastest unsupercharged production sports model ever made up to that time. Its claimed top speed of 120mph was so astonishing that to prove it Jaguar took one over to Belgium and clocked 132mph!The response from the public at the Motor Show launch on 20th October 1948 caught Jaguar by surprise, and as orders poured in it was immediately obvious that the level of home and export demand could only be satisfied by moving from a lightweight alloy-bodied ash frame construction to tooling up for volume production in steel. This took time to achieve and the first 57 right hand drive cars, and 183 left-hand drive cars, were hand-produced in lightweight aluminium alloy.Throughout the 6 year production run, Jaguar manufactured a mere 609 Right hand drive roadsters for the home market and we are proud to be offering one of them here today.Finished Mist grey with red leather interior, this Matching numbers UK Right hand drive XK120 Roadster has been subject to a recent no-expense-spared mechanical and cosmetic renovation. Mechanical works completed included overhauling the brakes, steering, suspension, all bushes and carburettor, as well as the supply and fitting of new exhaust system, vitreous enamel manifolds, shock absorbers, rear leaf springs, clutch, plugs, brake lines, fuel lines, petrol pump and complete electrical system.Furthermore the quality level in which the cars detailed cosmetic restoration has been finished, can only be fully appreciated when viewing the car in the flesh.Having been subject to a bare metal respray, total re-trim including all weather equipment and re-chroming of all of the brightwork, this rare Right hand drive XK120 Roadster is truly a fantastic example and is ready to be enjoyed in the forthcoming summer months.View 1951 Jaguar XK120 Roadster on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1951-jaguar-xk120-roadster' for further details.

1973 Jaguar E-Type 1973 Jaguar E-Type

1973 Jaguar E-Type

Lot #133 (Sale Order 35 of 88)

One consequence of the E-Types long process of development had been a gradual increase in weight, but a good measure of the concomitant loss of performance was restored in 1971 with the arrival of the sensational Series III V12. Weighing only 80lb more than the cast-iron-block 4.2-litre XK six that it replaced, the new all-alloy, 5.3-litre, overhead-camshaft V12 engine produced 272bhp, an output good enough for a top speed well in excess of 140mph. Further good news was that the 0-100mph time of around 16 seconds made the V12 the fastest-accelerating E-Type ever.Other mechanical changes beneath the Series IIIs more aggressive looking exterior included ventilated front disc brakes, anti-dive front suspension, Lucas transistorised ignition, and Adwest power-assisted steering, while automatic transmission was one of the more popular options on what was now more of a luxury Grand Tourer than out-and-out sports car. Flared wheelarches, a deeper radiator air intake complete with grille, and a four-pipe exhaust system distinguished the Series III from its six-cylinder forbears, plus, of course, that all-important …V12 boot badge. The interior though, remained traditional Jaguar. Built in two-seat roadster and …2+2 coup’© versions, both of which used the long-wheelbase floor pan introduced on the Series II …2+2, the Series III E-Type continued the Jaguar tradition of offering a level of performance and luxury unrivalled at the price.Manufactured in October 1973, this Series III E-Type has covered an unbelievably low 2,500 miles from new- having been cared for and caressed by its current custodian since 1990. At this time the car was restored to an exceptional standard ( costing in excess of 100,000 GBP then by English Cars of Distinction) The car was uprated to the high specification presented today, which included Connolly leather throughout with matching bound carpets and burr walnut veneer dashboard. The steering and suspension system was also uprated with all components Zinc plated or powder coated. Brakes were uprated to vented discs and chrome wire wheels. The engine was also enhanced with a 90’ã70 bore and stroke firing from 4 strombergs and producing 272bhp mated to a 5 speed gearbox. The result is a sensation. Finished in iconic primrose, over chocolate bean interior and having covered just 2,500 miles this has to be one of the lowest mileage V12 roadsters to be offered on the open market.View 1973 Jaguar E-Type V12 Series III Roadster on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1973-jaguar-e-type-v12-series-iii-roadster' for further details.

1963 JAGUAR MARK 10 1963 JAGUAR MARK 10

1963 JAGUAR MARK 10

Lot #133A (Sale Order 36 of 88)

When production for the Jaguar MK IX finally came to an end, Jaguar introduced the new code named ‘Zenith’ MK 10. Originally produced for the American market the new design boasted a newly shaped front end which included four headlamps set into rounded front fenders together with a newly designed grill. The interior however stayed much the same and in classic jaguar style included an abundant amount of woodwork including the dashboard, escuthcheons, window trim, a pair of large bookmatched fold out rear picnic tables, and a front seat pull-out picnic table stowed beneath the instrument cluster. Still a stylish and majestic Jaguar sports saloon of the mid 1960’s the wonderful MK 10 was equipped with either a 4.2 or 3.8 litre 6 cylinder engine giving plenty of power to the driver. This particular example, finished in Pearl Maroon with a cream leather interior, was first delivered to New Mexico in 1963, where it had two further owners before later finding its way back to the UK and the current ownership. Since being imported the car has been part of a collection in the UK where it has been used sparingly and kept in dry storage. Fitted with the 3.8 litre motor as installed into the contemporary E-Type, this Mark 10 is offered with a thick file of invoices and other history, in addition to a current UK MoT certificate. A great looking and ground breaking executive car of the 1960s.

1971 Jaguar E-Type 1971 Jaguar E-Type

1971 Jaguar E-Type

Lot #134 (Sale Order 37 of 88)

One of the greatest post-war sports cars, Jaguars E-Type made immediate headlines on its launch at the Geneva Show in March 1961. Here was a sleek and beautiful 150mph car with a competition pedigree: 0-60mph and 0-l00mph in 6.9 and 16.2 seconds respectively. It could be bought for just over £2,000, almost half the cost of an Aston Martin or Ferrari. A direct descendant of the XK120 and competition C and D-Type models that so dominated 1950s sports car racing, the E-Type shared its 265bhp 3.8 litre twin-cam straight-six engine with the XK150 …S, mated to a Moss four-speed gearbox with synchromesh on the top three ratios.Beneath the William Lyons/Malcolm Sayer-styled body, available in either closed or roadster form, the steel monocoque chassis sported all-independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes, mounted inboard at the back. This is a superb and completely restored LHD Jaguar E-Type Roadster, 4 – speed manual.Having been part of a prominent European collection for over 30 years, this matching numbers E-Type is beautifully finished in midnight blue with tan interior and mohair hood, and sits on chrome wire wheels.A period wireless is fitted and an E-Type in such specification and condition simply leaves no wishes open to its next lucky owner. These still underrated series 2 E-Types against their series 1 brothers, which are now sold at minimum twice their prices, are definitely more agreeable to drive with their non-crash gearbox, and have enough power to cruise on a warm spring or summer day with the top down. A superb investment.View 1971 Jaguar E-Type Series II 4.2 Roadster on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1971-jaguar-e-type-series-ii-4-2-roadster' for further details.

1968 Daimler 250 V8 1968 Daimler 250 V8

1968 Daimler 250 V8

Lot #135 (Sale Order 38 of 88)

Jaguars principal motive in purchasing Coventry neighbours Daimler had been the acquisition of much needed production capacity without the expense of constructing on a distant …green field site. The fact that the purchase also included Daimlers splendid lightweight V8 engines was entirely incidental from Jaguars standpoint, yet would result in the creation of one of the finest sports saloons of the 1960s.First seen in the rapid, if controversially styled, SP250 sports car, the 2.5-litre version was judged superior to Jaguars 2.4-litre XK six and so the opportunity arose to create an medium sized, upmarket model based on the Mk2 saloon, something Daimlers leading distributor, Stratstone, had been crying out for. The job was made relatively easy by the V8s compact nature and the generously sized Jaguar engine bay. Launched in 1962 as the …2_-Litre V8 (later …V8 250), the new Daimler came with Borg Warner automatic transmission as standard. More refined than the equivalent Jaguar, the Daimler turned out to be a fine performer to boot, its 110mph top speed exceeding that of an overdrive-equipped, 2.4-litre Mk2 by a wide margin. Not surprisingly, the V8 was soon outselling its Jaguar rival and in due course became the most successful Daimler of all time with more than 17,600 sold up to the end of production in 1969.This wonderful 250 on offer today is finished in silver over black. Described by the vendor to be mechanically excellent the car has been used on a variety of continental tours and events. Bodily both the chassis and paintwork are in excellent order. 1990 JAGUAR XJS CONVERTIBLE 1990 JAGUAR XJS CONVERTIBLE

1990 JAGUAR XJS CONVERTIBLE

Lot #135A (Sale Order 39 of 88)

The XJ-S had been under development since 1968 and as a 2+2 fixed head coupe was intended as a replacement for the now legendary E-type. From the beginning it was only available with the V12 engine which gave excellent performance with 0-60mph being dispatched in a very respectable 6.9 seconds and a top speed of 150mph. Later in the XJ-S’s life it was also available with a six cylinder engine and a manual gearbox. As with any vehicle that has had as long a production life as the XJ-S there have been major developments. One of the more significant ones for the XJ-S was the launch of the convertible in May 1988. The XJS we have for sale was manufactured in 1990 with Right-Hand Drive specification and the classic 5.3 V12 engine and automatic transmission. This example has been fastidiously maintained and garaged, with the vendor informing us it comes with a full service history. The car looks extremely elegant in Arctic blue with a lovely dark blue Mohair hood. In the current market the Jaguar XJ-S represents exceptional value for money and surely represents the ideal way to enjoy open air motoring whilst still maintaining the gentleman’s club effect.

* Regretfully Withdrawn* 1954 Jaguar Mk VII Special by William Turball Slack * Regretfully Withdrawn* 1954 Jaguar Mk VII Special by William Turball Slack

* Regretfully Withdrawn* 1954 Jaguar Mk VII Special by William Turball Slack

Lot #136 (Sale Order 40 of 88)

The car shown here started life as a Jaguar Mk. VII and was purchased by an eccentric farmer who would use it as a vehicle for ferrying livestock around the farm. The farmer eventually came to his senses and traded the Mk. VII into the prestigious Caffyns Jaguar Dealership in East Sussex where their chief engineer, William Turnball Slack decided to purchase the car.In 1954 …Bill began his endeavour to convert the Mk. VII into the unique two-seater roadster that is for sale here. He shortened the chassis and reduced the wheelbase by 30 inches. Mechanically, it has kept the original Mk. VII running gear which was retained and reconditioned. …Bill converted the rear suspension to coil springs and replaced the steering box with a rack and pinion setup. It uses a Jaguar 3.4 XK140 Engine (recently fully recommissioned) for its power, the bodywork is polished aluminium, the doors have wooden racing D Type hinges and it still has its original Mk. VII chassis number. It was originally built for touring and competition, hence the body is composed of a very high standard aluminium which is riveted on a steel frame, and the bulkhead is also steel. He used the car on the road but also entered it into a few hill climbs. Bill owned the car for over 30 years, before selling it to his friend and neighbour in 1995. The car was then kept in dry storage by its new owner, who regularly started the car, but barely used it, meaning the car had a very genuine 6,833 recorded miles, when it passed to its third owner. It is worth mentioning that Bill Slack did such a fantastic job on this Jaguar that his expertise were called upon by Colonel Rixon Bucknell. Bucknell is renowned for building the Rixon Bucknall Special, a car credited with the only chassis that Jaguar ever sold to a private individual for the creation of a one-off vehicle. Rixon wanted a car that had the charm of the pre-war cars, but he also wanted to enjoy the modern post war performance. Bill Slack would help him achieve this, adopting methods that he used on this car, such as shortening the length of the car by 30 inches. Slacks knowledge and skill meant he would subsequently join Rixon on many of his European tours, as well as helping him with more projects.More recently the Mk. VII underwent a major 11 year recommissioning, a meticulous effort carried out by Timothy at Willow Triumph Classic & Sports Car Specialist in Darlington. The vendor has told us that the car is exceptionally fun to drive and that it starts first time and runs perfectly.Todays mileage is showing just over 7,100, which we are told is accurate by the vendor and would probably make it one of the lowest mileage XK engines in existence. It has now had a total of 6 owners with purchase dates and recorded mileages at each sale in the history file. This is without doubt a very rare car, a true one off and the only one of its kind. The large history file has many receipts (including a bill for over £10,000 plus the bill for a full rebuild in 2011, together with photos of work carried out), a handful of MOTs and a Heritage Certificate. The car also comes with UK V5C and current MOT.View 1954 Jaguar Mk. VII Special by William Turball Slack on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1954-jaguar-mk-vii-special-by-william-turball-slack' for further details.

1969 Jaguar E-Type Series II 4.2 Roadster

Lot #137 (Sale Order 41 of 88)

The Jaguar E-Type (a.k.a. Jaguar XK-E) is a British sports car, which was manufactured by Jaguar Cars Ltd. between 1961 and 1975. Its combination of good looks, high performance and competitive pricing established the marque as an icon of 1960s motoring. More than 70,000 E-Types were sold. The Series 2 introduced a number of design changes, largely due to U.S. design legislation. The most distinctive feature is the absence of the aerodynamic glass headlight covers, which impacted several other imported cars, like the Citro’ân DS, as well. Unlike other cars, this retrograde step was applied worldwide for the E-Type. Other hallmarks of Series 2 cars are a wrap-around rear bumper, re-positioned and larger front indicators and tail lights below the bumpers, better cooling aided by an enlarged “mouth and twin electric fans, and uprated brakes.New seats were fitted, which purists claim lacked the style of the originals but were certainly more comfortable. The interior and dashboard were also redesigned; rocker switches that met US health and safety regulations were substituted for toggle switches. The engine is easily identified visually by the change from smooth polished cam covers to a more industrial “ribbed appearance. Air conditioning and power steering were available as factory options. This 1969 4.2 roadster is presented in silver with blue interior, at some point in its life converted to the more desirable right hand drive specification and given a set of triple SU carburettor, replacing the US specification twin Stromberg carburettors. The car comes with invoices on file from marque specialists CKL Developments totalling circa £11,000 since 2006.The car has been regularly used by the current vendor, a Jaguar club member, often for tours including trips to Europe in which the car has performed to expectations. The roadster comes complete with a UK V5 registration, a comprehensive history file of invoices and MoT certificates dating back many years, and a Jaguar owner handbook for the Series II 4.2.View 1969 Jaguar E-Type Series II 4.2 Roadster on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1969-jaguar-e-type-series-ii-4-2-roadster-2' for further details.

Jaguar XK180 Concept Evocation Jaguar XK180 Concept Evocation

Jaguar XK180 Concept Evocation

Lot #138 (Sale Order 42 of 88)

In 1999 Jaguar presented a new concept car at the Paris Motor Show to commemorate their 50th anniversary. It was designed to be a modern homage to the iconic styling of their C and D Type racers, with modern running gear and a futuristic interior. That concept car was based on the Jaguar XKR with a 4.0 litre supercharged V8 engine producing 450bhp. The car had a 5 speed automatic gearbox transferring all the power to the rear wheels, giving an impressive 0-100km/ph time of 4.5 seconds. As a concept car, it is understood that Jaguar only made two examples of the car.The car on offer here today was developed in 2015 to be a close replica of that concept car from 1999. Based on a 1985 Jaguar XJS-C chassis, this X180 Evocation has been meticulously engineered by Fokkens in the Netherlands to have all the presence of the original car.Underneath the bonnet is the 3.6 litre engine with 5 speed manual transmission from the donor car, developing a healthy 230bhp. It is reported to have only 500km on the odometer and is presented in excellent condition throughout. The build cost for this car is quoted as being c. äŒ120,000, so with this Evocation we have a great value car which would turn many heads at any event. A truly unique Jaguar and a must for any collector.View Jaguar XK180 Concept Evocation on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/jaguar-xk180-concept-evocation' for further details.

1953 Jaguar XK120 Roadster 1953 Jaguar XK120 Roadster

1953 Jaguar XK120 Roadster

Lot #140 (Sale Order 44 of 88)

The Jaguar XK120 made its debut in 1948 and quickly built its reputation as a success in the world of motor racing and rallying, picking up a victory at Silverstone in 1949 as well as several notable runs in some of Italys most famous races, not to mention the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1950. Not surprising considering it assumed the mantle of the fastest production car in the world at the time. This particular example is in its original Pastel Green and was first registered in 1953; it comes with a rich and colourful history, having reportedly only covered a remarkable 18,000 miles. It was delivered new on the 12th November 1953 to a Newton Abbot Dealer by the name of A C Bulpin & Sons, its first owner was L R Weaver.A young mechanic at the Garage – a Mr David Harrison – loved the car but could not afford it at the time. Fortunately for Harrison, the car would return to the garage 3 years later, at which point he managed to purchase the XK120; it would then remain within the Harrison family for over 60 years.Mr David Harrison was a keen racing driver and took the car to compete on numerous race circuits and hill Climbs during the 1960s. In 1966 he changed the engine from the standard 3.4 litre to a …hot 3.8 litre Jaguar XK engine with a lightened fly wheel, wide sump, competition clutch, balance crank and polished and ported head. This change resulted in him winning the fastest time of the day at the 1966 Wiscombe Park hill climb.A lack of garage space led to Mr David Harrison lending his pride and joy to the Totnes Motor Museum and it was not until the late 1970s that David Harrison had the model removed from the Museum and recommissioned. This decision was the result of much persuasion from his keen son, whose own involvement with this car began in 1961, when he was brought home from hospital in the XK120 as a new born baby. From this point onwards it would be his son who maintained the family heirloom. Robert Harrison was an Auto Engineer, who maintained the vehicle himself, he also rallied it and took it to shows. When not in use it could be found on display at the World of Country Life Museum, where it stayed in its original condition until early 2017. It is a safe estimate to say this car has spent over half of its life on display in museums.Re-commissioning work to the vehicle in the 1990s included a respray in its original pastel green, new wire wheels with stainless spokes and a disc brake conversion installed. The 3.8 litre racing engine it received in 1966 is still present, while the green leather interior has been superbly looked after and has a wonderful original patina.More recently, in February/March 2017, it was fully re-commissioned. It received new brake callipers, brake pads, various bushes, plus many other new items. In June 2017 this remarkable XK took Part in the XK Owners Club Coastal Tour in aid of Prostate Cancer. It took part in the first stages (Birmingham to Beaulieu to Exeter to Penzance to Bridgwater and finally back to Birmingham) it covered some 900 miles without causing the owner any problems. The car being offered presents wonderfully in its original colours and showing a recorded mileage of just over 18,000 miles with several MOTs (25+) to support this. The car comes with original VE60s, Jaguar Heritage Certificate and an extensive history file of service receipts and bills. This car offers a wonderful opportunity to acquire a very original, UK delivered XK120 with remarkably low mileage and a great prospect for investment.View 1953 Jaguar XK120 Roadster on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1953-jaguar-xk120-roadster' for further details.

1968 Jaguar E Type Series 1 Roadster 4.2 1968 Jaguar E Type Series 1 Roadster 4.2

1968 Jaguar E Type Series 1 Roadster 4.2

Lot #141 (Sale Order 45 of 88)

On its 1961 Geneva Show debut the E-Type caused a sensation. With all the promise of its looks confirmed by independent road test results, that not only recorded a 150mph top speed but also 0-60mph and 0-l00mph in 6.9 and 16.2 seconds respectively; fast indeed, and the match of any exotic thoroughbred then available, combined with superb road-holding and remarkable docility. One of the greatest post-war sports cars, Jaguars E-Type made immediate headlines on its launch in March 1961. Here was a sleek and beautiful 150mph car with a competition pedigree that could be bought for just over £2,000, almost half the cost of an Aston Martin or Ferrari. A direct descendant of the XK120 and competition C and D-Type models that so dominated fifties sports car racing, the E-Type shared its 265bhp 3.8 litre twin-cam straight-six engine with the XK150 …S, mated to a Moss four-speed gearbox with synchromesh on the top three ratios.Beneath the William Lyons/Malcolm Sayer-styled body, available in either closed or roadster form, the steel monocoque chassis sported all-independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes, mounted inboard at the back. This original right hand drive car was manufactured on 26th February 1968 and delivered with cream paintwork and a black interior; the car was then exported to Australia before being repatriated to the UK in 1970. The car was resprayed red and was subject to a thorough restoration in 1994 and has been well maintained since.Work includes Coopercraft front brakes, uprated suspension and a 123 electronic distributor. The engine was professionally rebuilt in 2009 and a stainless steel exhaust system was fitted. It had a new Suffolk and Turley hood and the hood frame was also refurbished at this time. Recent work includes rebuilt rear brakes, rebuilt shock absorbers, new hoses, new chrome bumpers and wheels with new Pirelli Cinturato tyres.Said to have an excellent panel fit and drive very well, this original UK delivered car comes with a valid MOT, large history file and V5C registration document.View 1968 Jaguar E Type Series 1 Roadster 4.2 on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1968-jaguar-e-type-series-1-roadster-4-2' for further details.

1962 Jaguar E-Type Roadster 1962 Jaguar E-Type Roadster

1962 Jaguar E-Type Roadster

Lot #142 (Sale Order 46 of 88)

Introduced in 3.8-litre form in 1961, the E-Type caused a sensation when it appeared, with instantly classic lines and 150mph top speed. The newcomers design owed much to that of the racing D-Type: a monocoque tub forming the main structure, while a tubular spaceframe extended forwards to support the engine. The latter was the same 3.8-litre, triple-carburettor …S unit first offered as an option on the preceding XK150. An optimistic 265bhp was claimed, but whatever the installed horsepower, the E-Types performance did not disappoint; firstly, because it weighed around 500lb (227kg) less than the XK150 and secondly because aerodynamicist Malcolm Sayer used experience gained with the D-Type to create one of the most elegant and efficient shapes ever to grace a motor car. Taller drivers though, could find the interior somewhat lacking in space, a criticism addressed by the introduction of foot wells (and other, more minor, modifications) early in 1962.This exceptionally rare example of the early Series 1 3.8 model has enjoyed the ownership of just one family from new. On 13th December 1962, chassis 878720 left the factory for its long maiden voyage to New York, where on arrival it was registered to Mr. Frank Blair on 16th April 1963. We note in the file is an invoice stating additional options specified, such as seat belts and wing mirrors. In 1982, Mr Frank Blair passed his precious much loved car to his son, Dennis Blair, who continued to maintain and uphold its pristine condition. The level of originality of this E-Type really is breath-taking. All original documentation has been preserved and presented in its original wallet. Also included are the original bill of sale, temporary certificate of registration, Jaguar periodic maintenance vouchers, manufacturers warranty, Jaguar overseas distributor and dealers booklet, also operating, maintenance and service handbooks. Furthermore the E-Type is supplied with its original keys, toolkit, jack and tonneau cover. Amazingly the body number, hand written in the factory, is still clearly visible on the fire wall.Showing a mere 42,000 miles recorded from new, this genuine one-family car is offered in very well preserved condition. An extremely sound investment, and quite possibly a unique opportunity for the Jaguar enthusiast.View 1962 Jaguar E-Type Roadster on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1962-jaguar-e-type-roadster' for further details.

1975 ISO Lele Sport 1975 ISO Lele Sport

1975 ISO Lele Sport

Lot #143 (Sale Order 47 of 88)

As a prototype, the Iso Rivolta Lele debuted at the 1969 New York International Auto Show. It was a 2+2 configuration that filled the gap between the two seater Grifo and the four door Fidia. The …standard Lele also used the Corvette 327 cid V8 with either a manual or automatic transmission. Giugiaro of Bertone styled the Lele, naturally.Based on what came later, therefore, the Iso Lele can rightly be termed today as an act of vision. It resulted from a promise that Piero Rivolta, son of Iso founder Renzo Rivolta, made to his wife, for whom the Lele was named, that Iso would be a full-line car company.Even among Italo-exotica, the Lele is an incredible rarity. A total of 285 Isos were built from 1970 through 1974, when Iso left the car business with a maximum of 20 Lele Sport models (Lele IR6 Sport) produced. The Sport had the Ford 351 Cleveland V-8 engine uprated to produce 360 bhp (35 bhp more than a standard car) and a ZF five-speed manual gearbox. The Sport was also fitted with additional gauges set into the passenger-side dashboard, Sports trim and lightweight bumpers with chin spoilers and an air intake – all of which are retained in this 1975 Lele Sport. This is a very rare car, there were only 285 Leles produced, the rarest incarnation was the SPORT of which 40 were produced with only 11 Right Hand Drive versions. These cars were defined by the following features and specification, fitted with the Ford 360 cobrajet engine (5763 cc) producing 360 bhp coupled to a 5 speed ZF gearbox, the Sport was also fitted with lightweight seats and bumpers giving a saving of 550 pounds over a standard car and an extra 35 bhp made this a very potent motor car in period, with a quoted top speed of 167 miles an hour, the sport was also fitted with an integrated front chin spoiler to make it more stable at speed, it also serves to make the car look great, all this at a cost of £11516-00 in 1975 a massive £1571-00 over and above the standard automatic car. All this verified by the original price list and sales brochure that come with the car.Finished in red with black leather interior, air conditioning, electric windows and power steering which was an extra on this late car. Showing 34000 miles which I believe to be correct, and fitted with a full length electric sliding roof and a radio cassette. The car has been subject to much recent refurbishment, including a full screens out repaint, new head lining, new window rubbers, 4 x correct Michelin XWX tires, brake over haul, high flow radiator, new clutch, new water pump, cylinder heads removed checked skimmed and refitted with new head gaskets, plus the usual plugs points, leads, coil etc.The car performed extremely well on a recent trip to the Goodwood Members Meeting, a 250 mile round trip, it surprised me greatly by returning over 20 to the gallon! With the price of the ISO Griffo now In excess of £250000-00 this car must surely be an interesting alternative.View 1975 ISO Lele Sport on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1975-iso-lele-sport-2' for further details.

1964 CRAYFORD MINI SPRINT 1964 CRAYFORD MINI SPRINT

1964 CRAYFORD MINI SPRINT

Lot #143A (Sale Order 48 of 88)

Crayford Engineering (more commonly known simply as Crayford) was an automobile coachbuilder based in Westerham, Kent, and formed in 1962 by Jeffrey Smith (engineer and designer) and David McMullan MBE (sales). The company specialized in converting European coupés and saloons into convertibles and estates, with notable products including the convertible Mini. According to Crayford, the “Crayford Mini Sprint was developed and tested over many thousands of miles and has scientifically engineered chassis developments, to give improved rigidity. The superb roadholding and handling of the standard car is, if anything, enhanced. The wonderful spacious interior is almost exactly as standard. The car simply has a folding top. A sleek, clean design, built by leading hood manufacturers of England, in tough good-looking ‘Vynide’, with a rear window as large as the saloon. Easily let down, and if necessary, put up, from the driving seat. A real convertible for the family man – The Crayford Mini Sprint. The car to get you there quickly, safely, and more economically, with fresh air and sunshine to hand.” First registered in December 1964, this wonderful example is a very early example of the BMC approved conversion by Crayford, fitted with Crayford upgrades such as the Cooper 998cc engine. With its first owner in Buckinghamshire from new until the 1980s, the Sprint has enjoyed a full photographic (and no expenses-spared) restoration over 2015-2016, which used many new/old stock genuine parts. The Sprint was also treated to a few upgrades, notably the fitting of rare microcell reclining seats, a desirable Les Leston wood-rimmed steering wheel and Cooper S wheels and disc brakes. Finally the Sprint enjoyed a full mechanical re-build (engine, gearbox, carburettors), and a full professional re-paint and re-trim, to produce the excellent example presented today. The Sprint is finished in Tweed Grey with a Blue/Grey interior, and offered with a handbook, older log book, and current UK V5C document, in addition to a current UK MOT certificate. Pleasingly the Mini will be offered with its original registration number of 1070 PP. As testament to the quality of the restoration, the Sprint was awarded winner of the John White trophy at the Beaulieu national Mini Cooper day 2016, and was shortlisted for best in show at Goodwood Revival 2016. Crayford Mini Sprints are exceptionally rare variants of the early Mk1 Mini, and this wonderful example is quite possibly the best in existence.

1952 Bentley Mk VI Special 1952 Bentley Mk VI Special

1952 Bentley Mk VI Special

Lot #144 (Sale Order 49 of 88)

“In a very short time, however, it was easily seen that the pressed steel Bentley bodies were as elegantly proportioned, as highly finished and as comfortably furnished as anything the traditional coachbuilders of the past had done; with the added virtues of immunity from rot and greater rigidity. Anthony Bird & Ian Hallows, The Rolls-Royce Motor Car, 1964.The policy of rationalisation begun in the late 1930s continued at Rolls-Royce after the war with the introduction of standard bodywork on the MkVI Bentley. Rolls-Royces first post-WW2 product, the MkVI was introduced in 1946, a year ahead of the Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith. Although mechanically similar to the MkVI, the latter was exclusively a coachbuilt car, the first …standard steel Rolls-Royce, the Silver Dawn not appearing until 1949.With greatly improved reliability, a Bentley Mk VI made the perfect platform to build into a special recreation – encapsulating the magic of pre-war Bentley Motoring during the golden age. Geoffrey Shrive built thirty-three of these Shrive Specials at Harlington during the late 1960s and 1970s: most went to USA. This car left the workshops and went to Scotland, where it remained until last year when it was discovered in a barn in Carlisle. This particular example showing just over 85,000 miles was a base saloon until it was sold to renowned Bentley collector Charles Teall. A partnership was formed between Teall and David Simpson and as a result two similar, hand beaten, MK VI specials were created in 1973.Mr Teall used this car extensively throughout the 1970s both for general use and for competition in Bentley Drivers Club and VSCC meetings. The car has gone on to take part in more than 30 events since it was completed. Well Known to the Bentley Drivers club the MKVI has previously passed through the hands of former chairman of the Bentley Drivers Club, who purchased it for his son-in-law as …the best car available. The vendor has had a no expense spared preparation to this lovely example ready for road rallies such as “The Road to Mandalay rally in 2015 with bills and invoices to show. Following a detailed report by Taylors, Charles Teall was once again involved with the car only this time for recommissioning work, and Roach Manufacturing were appointed to attend to bodywork issues. The mechanicals were thoroughly rebuilt, including a full engine rebuild, and the car re-engineered to exacting standards. Bills in excess of £74,000 were incurred in the process, and are fully detailed in the history file. The car completed, without issue, the Endurance Rally Associations “The Road to Mandalay rally in early 2015, driving 5,000 miles from Singapore to Rangoon (via Mandalay). An example that really represents a rare opportunity to acquire a Mark VI with rally pedigree and prepared to the highest standards. Ready for road and endurance rallies the car is currently sitting on 18 wheels. There are a number of spare parts that are also included in the sale.View 1952 Bentley MK VI Special on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1952-bentley-mk-vi-special' for further details.

As 1960s jet-setters partied down at sandy beaches all over the world, they were most often seen not in their Ferraris or Maseratis but behind the wheel of a Fiat Jolly. The Jolly, based upon the reliable mechanicals of the Italian “peoples car, the 500, featured dune buggy-like bodywork by Ghia of Turin, with open sides, a simple surrey top, and wicker seats that would have looked at home at an English garden party. It was often finished in brilliant, shiny colours, making it all the better to match ones swimsuit or yacht club burgee. Jollies were all the rage on the streets of resort towns, and if you were really a member of the jet-set, you carried one upon the deck of your yacht as a tender. For a mere two years between 1964 and 1966 an “economical version was available with normal bumpers without chromed tubes and tubular chassis seats and a wrapped plastic cord. The Fiat 500D Jolly by Ghia that is offered today is one of the rarer “economical versions and was purchased as a gift for Mrs. Klier Mariannein by her husband in 1963 in celebration of her daughters birth. This wonderful Ghia 500 Jolly has always been owned by the same family until this year.Included in the sale are numerous photos of the car that resemble exactly how it appeared when it was purchased by Mrs. Klier and her children, as well as when it was repainted in yellow livery during the …80s. At this time Mr. Kliers family owned a Hotel in the prestigious marine town of Alassio in Liguria and #273192 on occasion held the privilege of chauffeuring VIPs in and around the hotel grounds. The car was recently discovered by Coys specialists in a garage of Alassio, a village in Liguria, in the same barn-find condition that it is offered today, the history of the car is known, certain and continuous. The body is in very good condition and quite understandably as a barn find, we are advised that the mechanics will require light recommissioning. Included in its history file are the original Italian registration papers alongside a certificate from the Reistro Italiano, both confirming that the Jolly body was built in period by Ghia. This is certainly a unique opportunity to acquire an original and “barn find condition Fiat 500 D Jolly Ghia.View 1963 Fiat 500 D Jolly by Ghia on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1963-fiat-500-d-jolly-by-ghia' for further details.

1938 Bentley 4_ Litre MR Overdrive 1938 Bentley 4_ Litre MR Overdrive

1938 Bentley 4_ Litre MR Overdrive

Lot #147 (Sale Order 52 of 88)

By the end of the 1930s the …Derby Bentley, introduced towards the beginning of that decade following the firms take-over by Rolls-Royce, had undergone a number of significant developments, not the least of which was an increase in bore size in 1936 that upped the capacity to 4,257cc; a move that coincided with the adoption of superior Halls Metal bearings. This new engine was shared with the equivalent Rolls-Royce – the 25/30hp – and as had been the case with the preceding 3_ litre model, enjoyed a superior specification in Bentley form, boasting twin SU carburettors, raised compression ratio and a more sporting camshaft. Thus the new 4_ litre model offered more power than before while retaining the well-proven chassis with its faultless gear-change and servo-assisted brakes. The construction of modern highways in Continental Europe, enabling cars to travel at sustained high speeds, that had prompted the introduction of the Halls Metal bearings, would lead eventually to the adoption of an …overdrive gearbox, improved steering and lubrication system on Bentleys …Silent Sports Car, with the introduction of the …MR series cars in 1938. This car has chassis number B28MR and is therefore the 28th such car.The Derby Bentley was, of course, an exclusively coachbuilt automobile. Of the 2,442 manufactured, almost 50 percent were bodied by Park Ward in a limited number of styles. This particular example though was bodied by H.J. Mulliner as one of a handful of …High Vision saloons built by them; it was exhibited on their stand at the 1938 Earls Court Motor Show and is thought to be the only example with a full Perspex roof over the front seats, rather than just a small strip. It is also said to be the highest priced Derby Bentley ever sold; possibly because of the high price of Perspex, which had only been invented a few years earlier.View 1938 Bentley 4_ Litre MR Overdrive on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1938-bentley-4%c2%bc-litre-mr-overdrive' for further details.

1972 Rolls-Royce Corniche 1972 Rolls-Royce Corniche

1972 Rolls-Royce Corniche

Lot #148 (Sale Order 53 of 88)

Recalling the firms glamorous Grandes Routi’åres of pre-war days such as the Phantom II Continental, the coachbuilt variants of the new Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow and T-Series Bentley were limited to just two: a two-door coup’© or similar convertible, the former arriving in March 1966 and the latter in September the following year. Some of the frontal panels were shared with the standard four-door saloon but otherwise the new bodyshells were unique, featuring a distinctive dipping upper wing line with parallel crease, and revised, more rounded posterior. Construction involved shuttling the bodyshells between the Crewe factory and H J Mulliner Park Wards Willesden plant, a necessarily lengthy process that took all of 20 weeks for the saloon and slightly longer for the more complex convertible. These exclusive cars were hand built in the best traditions of British coachbuilding using only materials of the finest quality including Wilton carpeting, Connolly hide and burr walnut veneers, such painstaking attention to detail resulting in a price some 50% higher than that of the standard Silver Shadow. Nevertheless, demand for these more glamorous alternatives to the much more numerous four-door model was strong right from the start, a state of affairs that resulted in them being given their own model name – …Corniche – in March 1971. In Corniche form Rolls-Royces well-tried 6.7-litre V8 produced around 10% more power than standard and proved capable of propelling the car to a top speed in excess of 120mph with sports car-beating acceleration to match. Despite its sky-high asking price, the model proved a major success for Rolls-Royce; periodically revised and up-dated, it remained in production well into the 1990s, the last (Convertible) examples being delivered in 1995. Easily one of the most recognisable models built by Rolls Royce, most people have seen a Corniche Convertible on television, in movies or on exotic locations around the world. As a sportier model than the Shadow, the Corniche features a rev. counter, 10% more engine power, and uprated suspension. This beautiful early example was first registered in October 1972, supplied by Mann Egerton and Co. of London. The Bentley has clearly been very well kept over the years, which is supported by Rolls Royce history of maintenance works completed. In recent times the Corniche has enjoyed a cosmetic refresh, and now looks truly resplendent in Claret Metallic with a magnolia leather interior. Offered in excellent order in all respects, a wonderful car to own and a delight to drive.View 1972 Rolls Royce Corniche on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1972-rolls-royce-corniche' for further details.

1971 Lotus Elan S4 1971 Lotus Elan S4

1971 Lotus Elan S4

Lot #149 (Sale Order 54 of 88)

The original Elan 1500 was introduced in 1962 as a roadster. After a very short production run of just 22 cars the engine was enlarged and the car was redesignated the Elan 1600. An optional hardtop was offered in 1963 and a coup’© version in 1965. The two-seat Lotus Elan replaced the elegant, but unreliable and expensive to produce Lotus Elite. It was the first Lotus road car to use a steel backbone chassis with a fibreglass body. At 726 kg, the Elan embodied the Colin Chapman minimum weight design philosophy. Initial versions of the Elan were also available as a kit to be assembled by the customer. The Elan was technologically advanced with a DOHC 1557 cc engine, 4-wheel disc brakes, rack and pinion steering, and 4-wheel independent suspension. Gordon Murray, designer of the McLaren F1 supercar, reportedly said that his only disappointment with the McLaren F1 was that he couldnt give it the perfect steering of the Lotus Elan. The car presented here today was taken off the road some 38 years ago by the previous owner, awaiting the time for a full restoration. The then owner never managed to find the time and hence the car remained off the road for such a long period. In 2012 the current vendor liberated the Elan and set about a complete nut and bolt restoration. This extensive bare chassis rebuild took over two and a half years to complete, a testament to the dedication and precision of the work carried out.The car is now said to be in excellent condition throughout and there is a large history file with supporting photographs for all the work carried out. Finished in Cirrus white with contrasting black interior, this is a near-concourse condition car ready to be taken to shows or used daily. The car benefits from a current MOT and UK V5C registration.View 1971 Lotus Elan S4 on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1971-lotus-elan-s4' for further details.

1986 Porsche 911 3.2 Cabriolet 1986 Porsche 911 3.2 Cabriolet

1986 Porsche 911 3.2 Cabriolet

Lot #150 (Sale Order 55 of 88)

A …modern classic if ever there was one, Porsches long-running 911 arrived in 1964, replacing the 356. The latters rear-engined layout was retained, but the 911 switched to unitary construction for the bodyshell and dropped the 356s VW-based suspension in favour of a more modern McPherson strut and trailing arm arrangement. In its first incarnation, Porsches single-overhead-camshaft, air-cooled flat six displaced 1,991cc and produced 130bhp; progressively enlarged and developed, it would eventually grow to more than 3 litres and, in turbo-charged form, put out well over 300 horsepower.Porsches first take on a 911 convertible had been the Targa model of 1965, a …halfway house design chosen because of fears that a genuine soft-top would not meet US Federal safety regulations, but by 1981 the company felt able to proceed with the genuine article. Introduced in normally aspirated 3.0-litre form in 1982, the 911 Cabriolet lost little, if any, rigidity with the deletion of the Targa roll-over bar, while its speedily raised/lowered top featured a detachable, zip-fastened rear window. Introducing a …proper soft-top proved to be a shrewd move by Porsche, as sales immediately exceed those of the Targa version, and the popular Cabriolet continued when the …Carrera name was applied to all 911 models in 1983, co-incidentally with the introduction of the 3.2-litre engine. Not merely enlarged, the new engine was also extensively revised and produced 231bhp, 27 horsepower up on its predecessor. The 911 Carreras top speed was now 152mph, with 100mph reachable in a breathtaking 13.6 seconds.Finished in Stone grey with black interior, this 3.2-litre Carrera Cabriolet was subject to a restoration that finished in 2015, when the car was subject to a respray. The leather interior is reported to be in equally good order. Recently serviced this right hand drive 3.2 offers exceptional value and is offered with a realistic reserve.View 1986 Porsche 911 3.2 Cabriolet on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1986-porsche-911-3-2-cabriolet-5' for further details.

1951 Bentley Mark VI 1951 Bentley Mark VI

1951 Bentley Mark VI

Lot #151 (Sale Order 56 of 88)

Few cars lend themselves so well to the creation of modified and fast special tourers as the Bentley Mark VI, and no exponent of such modification is more celebrated than Syd Lawrence. Syd Lawrence was a talented engineer whose apprenticeship with General Motors was disrupted by World War One. He subsequently worked for Bentley Motors under Nobby Clark and Anzani before setting-up on his own at premises in Southgate, North London. Well known in Bentley circles, Lawrences workshop soon became a Mecca for those owners who had been previously struggling to keep their cars running on a diminishing stock of original parts.Chassis B35KL was supplied new in March 1951 as a 4 _ litre Standard Steel Saloon to a Mr P.J. Offenheimer of Holborn Viaduct, London.Later, this fabulous example is believed to have become the first Special modified by Lawrence around a Mark VI chassis. Known as “SLO1 (being Syd Lawrences original prototype MkVI chassis) the Special travelled to its next owner, a Mr. Trotter in Beverley Hills California, for many years before being repatriated in the late 1980s and into the ownership of well-known British Bentley collector John Donner.Donner embarked upon a no-expenses spared project to develop a comfortable and fast tourer to be known as …The Millennium Bentley. The Special body was removed (later fitted onto another documented Special “BDP 218) and the chassis was stripped and rebuilt by Eric Healey of well-known Healey Brothers of Irthlingborough in Northamptonshire. The engine was rebuilt, as were the gearbox and running gear. Pleasingly, and unlike many specials, period Derby Bentley splined knock-on wire wheels were supplied by Bob Peterson, which really add to the period feel of the Mark VI. Inspired by the iconic SS100 sports cars of the 1930s, a brand new alloy body was built by Nostalgia Cars of Honiton in Devon, a well-respected restorer and coachbuilder renowned for their evocations of 1950s Jaguar sportscars.Unfortunately John Donner passed away during the extensive build, and it fell to the family to have the car completed, before ownership passed to the cousin of well-known enthusiast Earl of March, who drove the car for under 2000 miles in 10 years of ownership. In more recent times the car has been repainted, the gearbox and brakes overhauled, and period Marchall headlamps with matching side lamps fitted. The Special is recorded in Ray Roberts standard work, …Bentley Specials and Special Bentleys (pages 255/256). As a result of all this hard work the car won the Patina Category in the Bentley Drivers Club Concours in 2012.In the current ownership the car has enjoyed a refresh by Hillier Hill, and a rev. counter has been fitted, as have a new tonneau and hood in black double duck.Finished in Verdant Green (the colour of the 2001 Bentley Le Mans EXP8 car) with a tan leather interior, and offered with a substantial history file, this is truly an elegant and exhilarating car to be driven and enjoyed to the full. Possibly finest MKVI Special on the market today.View 1951 Bentley Mark VI – Syd Lawrence “SL01 Special on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1951-bentley-mark-vi-syd-lawrence-sl01-special' for further details.

1978 Ferrari Dino 308 GT4 1978 Ferrari Dino 308 GT4

1978 Ferrari Dino 308 GT4

Lot #152 (Sale Order 57 of 88)

Introduced at the 1973 Paris Motor Show, the Dino 308 GT4 was a significant departure for Ferrari in several ways. It was the first production car from Modena to feature a mid-engined V8, a layout that would become common to their core range for decades to come, along with the first production model to feature Bertone styling rather than Pininfarina bodywork. The styling was controversial at the time, with some journalists comparing it to the Bertone-designed Lancia Stratos and Lamborghini Urraco. The chassis was based on the Dino 246 but was stretched to make space for a 2+2 Configuration. The 3.0 Litre V8 was integrally joined with the gearbox and had an alloy block and head with dual overhead camshafts fed through 4 Weber 40 DCNF carburettors. The GT4 was replaced by the Mondial 8 in 1980 after a production run of 2,826 308s and 840 208s.Making its name in the racing world at the fabled Le Mans in 1974 the GT4 was entered by N.A.R.T and was unusually featured in the prototype class, obviously a miss match for the Ferrari it failed to compete at a high level, the car finished at the end of a long list of …DNFs making for a poor first outing at the renowned event. Returning with the GT4 in 1975 the car was once again entered into seemingly the wrong class rather than the more appropriate GT class. Up against overwhelming opponents such as the Porsche 908 the Ferrari was deemed to slow and disqualified by the Automobile Club de lOuest. Ironically, the GT4s place was taken by a French car with even higher lap times! Almost certainly the reason Chinetti withdrew all of the N.A.R.T cars from the race, just minutes before the start. This particular example has been built to resemble the …GT4 LM of its era and has the colour scheme to match. The car is equipped with a MSA approved roll cage, an uprated suspension system along with shock absorbers and wishbones. An uprated oil cooler and a racing style bucket seat with harnesses are also equipped with the car. Also offered is a comprehensive service history along with many bills and invoices that show this car has been maintained well in the past and includes a bill of around £30,000 for recent work including a recent engine rebuild. Road legal and race prepared the GT4 resembles and fantastic opportunity to race in the competitive Ferrari Formula Classic series.View 1978 Ferrari Dino 308GT4 Race car on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1978-ferrari-dino-308gt4-race-car' for further details.

1969 Porsche 911 Targa 1969 Porsche 911 Targa

1969 Porsche 911 Targa

Lot #153 (Sale Order 58 of 88)

A …modern classic if ever there was one, Porsches long-running 911 arrived in 1964, replacing the 356 that had secured the fledgling companys reputation as producer of some the worlds finest sporting cars. The iconic 911 would take this reputation to an even more exulted level on both the road and racetrack. The 356s rear-engined layout was retained but the 911 switched to unitary construction for the bodyshell and dropped the 356s VW-based suspension in favour of a more modern McPherson strut and trailing arm arrangement. In its first incarnation, Porsches single-overhead-camshaft, air-cooled flat six displaced 1,991cc and produced 130bhp; progressively enlarged and developed, it would eventually grow to more than 3.0 litres and, in turbo-charged form, put out well over 300 horsepower. The first of countless upgrades came in 1966 with the introduction of the 911S. Easily distinguishable by its stylish Fuchs five-spoked alloy wheels, the …S featured a heavily revised engine producing 160bhp, the increased urge raising top speed by 10mph to 135mph. A lengthened wheelbase introduced in 1969 improved the 911s sometimes wayward handling, and then in 1970 the engine underwent the first of many enlargements, to 2.2 litres, in which form it produced 180bhp on Bosch mechanical fuel injection when installed in the top-of-the-range …S model. Two years after the original coup’©s introduction, a convertible 911 – the …Targa, named in honour of Porsches numerous victories in the Sicilian classic – arrived in 1966. Expected US safety legislation had prompted an ingenious approach to the soft-top 911, the Targa sporting a hefty roll-over bar to protect the occupants in the event of an inversion, together with removable roof and rear hood sections, which were stowed in the boot. For 1969 a quieter and less leak-prone fixed rear window replaced the less than perfect rear hood, and the ever-popular Targa would continue in this form well into the 1990s, sharing countless mechanical and styling developments with its closed cousin along the way. The much loved and instantly recognisable original Targa finally bowed out at the end of the 1990s when the Cabriolet became the sole open-topped 911 with the introduction of the Type 996 range for 1999.The motor car on offer today forms part of an active and significant international collection, used regularly this lovely example benefits from the full-time attention of the collection specialists and really wants for very little if anything at all. Equipped with a five-speed gearbox this lovely albert blue on black example is supplied with numerous bills and invoices along with other documentation. Throughout its constant and full-time maintenance programme it is likely to be one of the healthiest examples of its type.View 1969 Porsche 911 Targa on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/18727' for further details.

1963 Bentley S3 Standard Steel Saloon 1963 Bentley S3 Standard Steel Saloon

1963 Bentley S3 Standard Steel Saloon

Lot #154 (Sale Order 59 of 88)

The last Bentley to be built on a separate chassis, in 1962, saw the introduction of the Bentley S3 factory bodied standard steel saloon and at first glance it would appear that the all new S3 was merely an S2 with different headlamps. The introduction of the twin headlamps was clearly the most obvious change but the differences did not end there.Further changes included the introduction of smaller bumper overriders and the repositioning of the front indicators and side lamps into one single unit on the front wing resulting in an arguably more attractive appearance. The S3s interior now had individual front seats in place of the split bench seat found in the earlier S types; some, like this one, had air conditioning, electric windows and front seat belts. Mechanically speaking the S3 was the same as the S2 with a 6230cc Rolls-Royce V8 engine and automatic gearbox but this model was fitted with larger carburettors, improved power steering to aid smoother movement at parking speed and a Lucas vacuum-advance distributor to aid fuel consumption making it almost identical in mechanical specification to the S3 Continental that was being produced at the same time.Delivered in 1963, this Bentley S3 is finished in the highly attractive colour combination of Sterling Silver with a Wine Red Leather interior. Offered with a UK V5 document, this is a good opportunity for the Bentley enthusiast and we feel excellent value in the current market.View 1963 Bentley S3 Standard Steel Saloon on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1963-bentley-s3-standard-steel-saloon' for further details.

1986 Porsche 911 Turbo

Lot #155 (Sale Order 61 of 88)

Beginning in the early 1970s, Porsche had demonstrated the worth of an exhaust-driven turbine for developing tremendous power for a given engine displacement, astounding the racing community with its World Endurance Championship-winning 917s. The company was quick to adapt turbocharging to its Group 4 Type 934 and Group 5 Type 935 racing coupes, basing those ferocious machines on the street-driven Type 930. Throughout the later 1970s and into the 1980s, the 930 evolved into an ever-more sophisticated, luxurious, and powerful road car. By 1987, the Turbo boasted a 3.3-liter engine, which was connected to a smooth four-speed manual transaxle and could produce 282 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 289 foot-pounds of torque at 4,000 rpm, The ventilated brake rotors were drilled for increased efficiency, and a large intercooler was housed within the “Tea-tray rear spoiler. The 1987 930 Turbo, of which 1,695 were built for the U.S. market and another 786 for the “Rest of the World (RoW), was capable of a near-160 mph top speed. Type 930. 282 bhp, 3,164 cc SOHC horizontally opposed air-cooled six-cylinder engine with a single turbocharger and Bosch electronic fuel injection, Type 930/36 four-speed manual transmission, independent front and rear suspension, and four-wheel ventilated disc brakes. This beautiful original Porsche 911 Turbo is finished in the traditional Porsche colour scheme of Grand Prix white, complemented by a black leather interior. 1966 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2

Lot #156 (Sale Order 62 of 88)

The 330 GT 2+2 was launched at the Brussels Motor Show in January 1964 as an intended replacement for the successful 250 GTE. It was powered by the 209 engine previously used in the 400 Superamerica, which with various improvements but slight detuning now yielded around 330bhp.The wheelbase was about two inches longer than that of the 250, and Koni adjustable shock absorbers were fitted as standard. The bodywork of the 330 was altogether …sweeter and more essential than that of its predecessor, and had a particularly attractive sharpness of line. The car was also spacious and comfortable, living up well to its …GT denomination.Paul Frere, the noted Belgian racing driver and automotive journalist, road tested a 2+2 late in 1966. He came away suitably impressed: “In handling, this car is exactly like all Ferraris which I have driven before _ It is close to being as neutral as one could want_ But the most impressive feature of the handling of the 330 is the solidness with which it changes direction, particularly in s-bends, where it tracks with about the same precision as a modern race car. This lovely example that left the Maranello factory in December of 1966 and is presented in stunning black with tan hide interior. The car was owned and driven by a number of various keepers in the United States and America before being imported and sold in the United Kingdom in the summer of 2015, where is was purchased by the current vendor.Since arrival in the United Kingdom the vendor has completed some important restoration and upgrades with the help of Marque specialist GTO Engineering, invoices on file show circa £22,000 having been spent since 2015, with some £18,000 of that with the previously mentioned specialist. Work includes improved and rebuilt steering column, new exhaust pipes and silencers, clutch master cylinder, newly fashioned column switch and indicator stalk. Interior upholstery was also done at this time with new door panels and cleaning of leather seats and trim. The car is offered on a UK V5 registration, with a current MoT valid until August 2017 and a dating letter from Ferrari Classiche department in Maranello. The vendor has informed us that the well suited number plate 33 OF is to be included in the sale of the Ferrari. These iconic Italian sports cars are much sought after, and this 2+2 is no exception. A left hand drive example, now UK registered with recent work carried out by a well respected Marque specialist. These Ferraris were the envy of many in the 1960s, and remain so to this day. Not to be missed.View 1966 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1966-ferrari-330-gt-22' for further details.

1978 MERCEDES-BENZ 450SLC 1978 MERCEDES-BENZ 450SLC

1978 MERCEDES-BENZ 450SLC

Lot #156A (Sale Order 63 of 88)

The Mercedes-Benz R107 and C107 were produced by Mercedes-Benz from 1971 through 1989, being the second longest single series ever produced by the automaker, after the G-Class. They were sold under the SL (R107) and SLC (C107) model names as the 280 SL, 280 SLC, 300 SL, etc. up to the 560 SL. The SLC (C107) derivative was a 2 door hardtop coupe with normal rear seats. The SLC is commonly referred to as an ‘SL coupe’, and this was the first time that Mercedes-Benz had based a coupe on an SL roadster platform rather than on a saloon, replacing the former saloon-based 280/300 SE coupé in Mercedes lineup. The SLC had a shorter production run compared to the roadsters which meant that less than an eighth of the 107 chassis were built as 450 SLC’s, the most part ending up in America, making this low mileage RHD example on offer here today a very desirable car. Purchased by its current custodian in 1982, this beautifully preserved example of the ever appreciating W107 has been used by the family as a ‘secondary’ car receiving regular yet sparing use until this day. Having always been stored in a climate controlled garage, this special 450 SLC is described to be in good overall condition throughout! Delivered new on the 1st of August 1978 and finished in blue with light brown velour interior, this car has travelled less than 50,000 miles in total and only 15,000 miles since it was purchased by its current custodian in 1982. Verifying the mileage, included in the history file are every previous MOT since 1981, the latest due to expire on the 10th of April 2018. All proceeds of this Lot will be donated to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution who have saved an incredible 140,000 lives since its foundation, at the cost of 600 lives lost in service.

1926 Bugatti Type 37 1926 Bugatti Type 37

1926 Bugatti Type 37

Lot #158 (Sale Order 65 of 88)

Originally the Land Rover was a single model offering, which from 1948 until 1951 used an 80-inch (2,000 mm) wheelbase and a 1.6-litre petrol engine producing around 50 bhp. The four-speed gearbox from the Rover P3 was used, with a new two-speed transfer box. This incorporated an unusual four-wheel-drive system, with a freewheel unit (as used on several Rover cars of the time). This disengaged the front axle from the manual transmission on the overrun, allowing a form of permanent 4WD. A ring-pull mechanism in the driverês footwell allowed the freewheel to be locked to provide more traditional 4WD. This was a basic vehicle: tops for the doors and a roof (canvas or metal) were optional extras. In 1950, the lights moved from a position behind the grille to protruding through the grille.

1991 Porsche 964 Turbo

Lot #159 (Sale Order 66 of 88)

In 1952 and 1953, a larger 2.0-litre petrol engine was fitted. This engine has Siamese bores, meaning that there are no water passages for cooling between the cylinders. During 1950, the unusual semi-permanent 4WD system was replaced with a more conventional setup, with drive to the front axle being taken through a simple dog clutch. Around this time the Land Roverês legal status was also clarified. As mentioned above, the Land Rover was originally classed as a commercial vehicle, meaning it was free from purchase tax. However, this also meant it was limited to a speed of 30 mph on British roads. After an appeal to the Law Lords after an owner was charged with exceeding this limit, the Land Rover was classified as a –multi-purpose vehicle” which was only to be classed as a commercial vehicle if used for commercial purposes.

Lot #160 (Sale Order 67 of 88)

The Land Rover offered here was originally bought and used by the RAF until being retired from the force in 1983. Used regularly by her 4 previous owners it was decided that an overhaul was required. The Land Rover was the subject of a 2 year bare chassis restoration using either new-old-stock or refurbishing the current components to as-new condition. The car is fitted with a fairey overdrive, original clayton heater, rear seats, period battery and contactless fuel pump and distributor. The restoration was so complete that the car was featured in Classic Land Rover Magazine. There is a large history file complete with full photographic documentation of the restoration, current MOT and V5C registration. This is a wonderful opportunity to purchase a Series 1 Land Rover in as good condition as the day it rolled out of the factory.

…The Mustang can be tailored to be anything from a gentle in-town ladies car to an impressive 130mph highway performer. Undoubtedly its almost infinitely variable personality is one of the cars chief attractions_ – William S Stone, …The Ford Mustang.Ford created a new class of car almost overnight with the introduction of the Mustang sports coup’© part way through the 1964 season, catching the rest of the US auto industry off guard.Aimed at the affluent young, for whom a car was as much a lifestyle statement as means of transport, the Mustang succeeded brilliantly, achieving sales in excess of a quarter million by the end of …64.The secret of the Mustangs success was a broad appeal that extended beyond the target market thanks to a great value-for-money package combining sporty looks, decent economy and brisk performance. Mustangs could be ordered in specifications ranging from six-cylinder …economy to V8-powered luxury, while customers could choose from an extensive range of factory options, with the result that seldom are two Mustangs identical. This particular 4.8 Litre example is offered in easily the most desirable colour combination of dark moss green on a suited green interior. 1993 Mini ERA Turbo Sports Saloon 1993 Mini ERA Turbo Sports Saloon

1993 Mini ERA Turbo Sports Saloon

Lot #162 (Sale Order 69 of 88)

The ERA Mini Turbo is a modified Mini city car that was produced by Engineering Research & Application Ltd. under the ERA brand name from 1989 to 1991 at Dunstable in Bedfordshire, England. The fastest-ever version of the original Mini to be sold through official dealers, it has been described as “the spiritual successor to the Cooper and the 1275 GT.To create the car ERA installed a turbocharged Austin Rover A-Series 1300 MG Metro engine, which produced 94 bhp and gave the car a claimed top speed of 115 mph. The body kit was styled by Dennis Adams, who also designed the Marcos sports cars and the Probe concept car.The interior used MG Metro front seats trimmed in Connolly Leather hide, VDO instruments in an ERA-designed dash panel, pile carpeting, and a sunroof. Torque steer, common in a front-wheel drive layout, is mitigated by greater front-wheel toe-out and specially-made lower front suspension arms that provided 1.5 degrees of negative camber. The 6 x 13 aluminium alloy wheels were shod with wider 165 section low-profile tyres. The servo-assisted braking system had Metro ventilated discs and four-pot calipers at the front, with modified drums at the rear. The car featured adjustable shock absorbers all round, and the ride height was lowered.A total of 436 ERA Mini Turbos were produced in total. The Japanese in particular were and indeed still are huge fans of the Mini, and such many of the ERA Turbos found their way to Japan over the years. One of only 157 examples painted in red, the low mileage example you see here is no exception, having only recently been repatriated into the UK. Having spent so long in a kind climate the bodywork is presented very well, the soft grey leather is unmarked and in excellent condition, and the five-spoke alloy wheels have recently been refurbished. The little ERA is said to be huge fun to drive, which comes as no surprise with a powerful turbocharged engine, lightweight body and nimble chassis.Offered with a UK V5 document, fresh MoT certificate and a selection of period brochures and road tests, this ERA Turbo is a hugely enjoyable car which can only appreciate in value.View 1993 Mini ERA Turbo Sports Saloon on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1993-mini-era-turbo-sports-saloon' for further details.

1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia GTC

Lot #163 (Sale Order 70 of 88)

After world war ll Alfa Romeo were able to return to manufacturing Italian automobiles, however a new model was not launched until 1950. The new design being the 1900, a twin overhead cam 1859cc 4-cylinder saloon. However, it was the second model produced that proved significant, the guilietta of 1954, a 2+2 by bertone. The vehicle was powered by a light alloy 1290cc dohc four cylinder. Named “sprint it was fittingly capable of high speeds for its engine size reaching 102mph. Design by Orazio Satta Puliga, an engineer who had joined Alfa in 1938 and succeeded Wilfredo Ricart as head of design in 1946.The Berlina model hit the production line in 1955, and soon afterwards a Spider convertible by Pininfarina was available. In 1957, two limited-production models were added, the Sprint Speciale by Bertone, and the Sprint Zagato by that Milanese coachbuilder. In 1962 alfa Romeo introduced the Giuliettas successor, the Guilia a Sprint GT coupe version which followed in 1963, with engines available in many different specifications. The suspension had been tweaked and disc brakes were added all around.Just 1,000 GTCs were built from 1964 to 1966, most of them left-hand drive models. This particular example presented in white with a black interior is a rare right-hand drive example of which just 99 where ever built for the right hand drive market. Recently being recommissioned including a full respray of the body the car is said to be in good all-round condition. 1973 Triumph Stag

Lot #164 (Sale Order 71 of 88)

Stylish, fast and practical, the Stag began life as a Triumph 2000-based styling exercise by Italian carrossier Giovanni Michelotti. A 2+2 convertible, Michelottis design featured a quad-lamp grille and sculpted front and rear ends, the latter destined to appear on many future Triumphs. By the time production commenced in 1970, the 2000s six-cylinder engine had been replaced by a 3.0-litre V8 based on an overhead-camshaft four already being produced by Triumph for SAAB. A padded, …T-shaped roll bar bracing the door pillars and windscreen was one of the Stags most distinctive features, and the model could be had in soft-top, hardtop, or soft-with-hardtop forms. Introduced in 1973, the MkII version incorporated an engine revised to give smoother, quieter running and a revamped interior featuring a smaller steering wheel and redesigned seats among a host of other, more minor changes. This Stag has been in the same ownership since 1979 until 2016, and benefits from a thorough restoration by the previous keeper in 2001/02. 1969 FORD ESCORT MK1 – RACE/RALLY PREPARED 1969 FORD ESCORT MK1 – RACE/RALLY PREPARED

1969 FORD ESCORT MK1 – RACE/RALLY PREPARED

Lot #164A (Sale Order 72 of 88)

The Ford Escort Mk I was introduced in 1967 and was a commercial success in many parts of Western Europe. However, in the UK it was the best-selling car during the 1960s. In June 1974, less than six years after the car’s UK introduction, Ford announced the completion of the two millionth Ford Escort, a milestone unmatched by any Ford model outside the USA. The Escort used a brand new unitary construction body shell and came with a choice of 1098cc or 1298cc four cylinder, overhead valve engines. It also featured contemporary styling cues in tune with its time: a subtle Detroit-inspired “Coke bottle” waistline and the “dogbone” shaped front grille arguably the car’s most famous stylistic feature. The Escorts became very successful as a rally car and they eventually went on to become one of the most successful rally cars of all time. The Ford works team was practically unbeatable in the late 1960s / early 1970s and, arguably, the Escort’s greatest victory was in the 1970 London to Mexico World Cup Rally being driven by Finnish legend Hannu Mikkola. This Escort has been repatriated from South Africa, where it was prepared for motorsport use. The Escort is supplied with the relevant NOVA for UK registration in addition to South African shipping papers. A great, cost effective way to get into Historic Motorsport.

* Regretfully Withdrawn* 1982 Porsche 911 3.3 Turbo

Lot #165 (Sale Order 73 of 88)

Much of the Porsche 911s development had resulted from the factorys racing program. It was the period Group 4 homologation rules, which required 400 road cars to be built, that spurred the development of …Project 930: the legendary 911 Turbo. In production from April 1975, the Turbo married a KKK turbocharger to the 3.0-liter Carrera RSR engine in road trim, a combination that delivered 260bhp for a top speed of 155mph. But the Turbo wasnt just about top speed, it was also the best-equipped 911 and amazingly flexible – only four speeds in the gearbox. It was capable of racing from a standstill to 100mph in 14 seconds. The Porsche 930 Turbo sold in the thousands, becoming the definitive sports car of its age.As one of the most raw and unbridled cars available on the market in its day, the 930 Turbo has rightfully earned its place as a legend. It is quite rare to find an example as in excellent order as this one. Imported over from the United States by the current ( 5th owner from new) the car has only been used during the summer months.Unbelievably, the car has had over 50,000 dollars spent improving its performance and has only covered a mere 3,000 miles from a complete engine rebuild in 2012. Fitted with 3.4 litre pistons and selves, quick spooling K27 turbo with tail wastegate, RUF BTR clutch, lightweight flywheel , SC cams and B&B headewrs with SS dual exhausts. We are informed the engine has been tuned conservatively as is near impossible to hurt, but with still tons of untapped BHP if required. This European specification 930 Turbo Coupe presents in beautiful condition throughout. The cars history file attests to much maintenance and service work performed; making it a fine young-timer Porsche for the budding collector or enthusiast. Highly usable and entertaining to drive, these Porsches remain among the most iconic post-war automobiles.View 1982 Porsche 911 3.3 Turbo on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1982-porsche-911-3-3-turbo-3' for further details.

1956 Fiat Multipla 600

Lot #166 (Sale Order 74 of 88)

As Italys population took to the road again after the Second World War, there was a growing demand for practical yet affordable transport. The Fiat 600 was already a bestseller by 1956, when the Multipla was first launched, but the new model soon found a loyal following of its own.Designed to fulfil the needs of larger families and commercial users, the 600 Multipla was created by the engineering genius Dante Giacosa. Giacosas design was truly a feat of engineering packaging. By advancing the passenger compartment over the front wheels and moving the engine to the rear, he created one of the first successful monospace cars and was able to extract six seats from a car that was only 11 feet and 6.9 inches long!First produced on the 27th of March 1956 as can be seen by its FIAT Certificate of Origin that can be found in the cars history file, this Multipla 600 is a wonderful example of one of the rarer 1st series examples. The car underwent a …labour of love restoration overseen by its private owner over many years and was completed in 2016, and now a year later it is offered for sale.View 1956 Fiat Multipla 600 1st series on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1956-fiat-multipla-600-1st-series' for further details.

1971 Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV 1971 Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV

1971 Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV

Lot #167 (Sale Order 75 of 88)

Launched in 1963, the first of Alfa Romeos Bertone-styled coup’©s – the 1.6-litre Giulia Sprint GT – featured classically stylish four-seater coachwork designed by Bertones Giorgetto Giugiaro, though this was now manufactured not by Bertone but at Alfas new factory at Arese. Beneath the skin, the new two-door coup’© utilised the recently introduced 105-Series Giulia TI saloons five-speed manual gearbox, independent front suspension, coil-sprung live rear axle and – early cars excepted – all round disc brakes. The Sprint GT came with 106bhp on tap (up from the TIs 92bhp courtesy of two twin-choke Weber carburettors) an output sufficient for a top speed of around 112mph. Improvements to the inlet ports characterised the more-powerful (109bhp) engine of the Sprint GTV (or GT Veloce) introduced for 1965. A 1300 model – the GT Junior – arrived in 1966 and the range was further extended the following year by the launch of the 1750GTV, The latter powered by a 1,799cc, 118bhp version of Alfas classic twin-cam four, housed in a four-headlamp version of the existing bodyshell running on 14 – down from 15 – wheels. A short-lived but nonetheless popular model, the 1750GTV underwent a minor mechanical and styling revision part way through production before being replaced by the 2000 version in 1972. Drivers cars par excellence in the Alfa Romeo tradition, Bertones timelessly elegant Giulia coup’©s are among the most exciting sports saloons of the 1960s and today all versions are highly sought after. This stunning example is an original UK RHD car supplied in …Giallo Ocra, purchased by the vendor in barn find condition some three years ago. Marque specialist Velocesport were commissioned to undertake the restoration of the car, which had been off the road and hidden for over 20 years.Between 2014 and 2016, Velocesport sympathetically restored the GTV using as much of the original trim and interior parts as possible, with only those parts beyond repair being replaced. Finished in …Faggio dark aubergine and trimmed in …Cinghiale tan, with refurbished wheels and hub caps replaced. The underside has been sealed and wax oiled and the carburettors have been rebuilt and all necessary engine parts replaced. It is currently fitted with series one specification parts on the interior and exterior. The car is showing 78,000 miles on the clock and this is thought to be genuine due to the car being in barn find condition for so long, but has no history to verify this. The car comes with a UK V5C registration document and has a current MOT, valid until January 2018. The vendor informs us that it is a great joy to drive, is in a usable condition and turns heads everywhere it goes. This recently restored example of one of the best looking Alfa Romeos wants for nothing and is ready to enjoy for some summer driving.View 1971 Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1971-alfa-romeo-1750-gtv-2' for further details.

1922 Rolls-Royce SIlver Ghost Tourer 1922 Rolls-Royce SIlver Ghost Tourer

1922 Rolls-Royce SIlver Ghost Tourer

Lot #168 (Sale Order 76 of 88)

The directors were obviously as impressed with the car as the public were when they first saw it displayed_ the companys future, based upon Royces intuitive design genius and the uncompromising standards of workmanship he set, clearly lay in the rapidly expanding area of luxury cars_ – Edward Eves, …Rolls-Royce, 75 Years of Motoring Excellence.Although the 40/50hp model would in any event have earned its …The Best Car in the World sobriquet (actually first used by the Pall Mall Gazette in November 1911), Rolls-Royces decision to drop all other types only served to focus attention on what would become known as the …Silver Ghost.Prior to 1908, when it relocated to a new factory in Derby, the company founded by engineer Frederick Henry Royce and entrepreneur the Honourable Charles Stewart Rolls had manufactured a variety of models at its Manchester premises. Cars with two, three, four and six cylinders were made, and even an abortive V8, before Managing Director Claude Johnsons decision to concentrate on the range-topping 40/50hp. The latter had first appeared at the 1906 London Motor Show and became known as the …Silver GhostThe heart of the Silver Ghost was its magnificent engine, a 7,036cc (later 7,428cc) sidevalve six equipped with seven-bearing crankshaft and pressure lubrication.A sturdy chassis comprised of channel-section side members and tubular cross members was suspended on semi-elliptic springs at the front and a …platform leaf spring arrangement at the rear, though the latter soon came in for revision. The transmission too was soon changed, a three-speed gearbox with direct-drive top gear replacing the original four-speed/overdrive top unit in 1909. In the course of its 20-year production life there would be countless other improvements to the car, one of the most important being the adoption of servo-assisted four-wheel brakes towards the end of 1923.This magnificent Rolls Royce Silver Ghost tourer has remained under the last ownership since 1991. The car has a post war barrel sided torpedo touring body fitted to it made from Aluminium over traditional ash framing. The body is well executed & rakish in the extreme. The paint is recently redone in Burgundy over Black so presents beautifully. To the interior is sumptuous newish buttoned maroon leather to all the seating surfaces with maroon carpets to the rear & black rubber floor matting to the front.A side mounted spare sits on the running board as does a cabinet maker built open dovetailed battery box. The mahogany dash board contains a full quotient of period instrumentation. Mechanically the car is very sound having been looked after by the current owner who cut his teeth at Romseys famed Jack …O Lantern garage. The engine is very quiet & starts readily. Oil pressure is excellent & the car runs cool.A full length split tonneau cover comes with the car. The hood of black canvas is in good condition and erects easily for inclement motoring. A hood bag keeps the ensemple tidy when in the down position.Having just been serviced and having completed a recent trip to Amsterdam earlier in the month this wonderful Silver Ghost is in super order throughout & ready for extensive touring.View 1922 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost Tourer on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1922-rolls-royce-silver-ghost-tourer' for further details.

1968 Triumph TR5 1968 Triumph TR5

1968 Triumph TR5

Lot #169 (Sale Order 77 of 88)

Triumphs TR Series began with the unveiling of a prototype (the TR1) at the 1952 London Motorshow. The TR2 was launched the following year, and so began an uninterrupted run of two-seater Sports Cars that ended in 1981 with the last of the TR8s.Code named Zest, the TR4 was introduced in 1961 as a replacement for the TR3A. Though based on the chassis and drivetrain of its much-loved predecessor, it cut a far more modern dash, thanks to an all new Michelotti-styled body. Power was provided by Triumphs proven OHV four-cylinder engine with capacity increased to 2138cc. Other mechanical updates included a wider track front and rear, rack and pinion steering and an all-synchromesh gearbox. The optional overdrive now operated on second and third gears as well as top. There was also the option of a unique hardtop with fixed glass rear window, integral rollbar and removable centre section. The short-lived, but now much sought after, TR5 was visually identical to the TR4, but notably more potent thanks to the 2498cc straight-six that sat in place of the TR4s four-cylinder unit – a total of just 2,947 TR5s left the factory between October 1967 and November 1968.The 1968 example that we have on offer was purchased by the late T.D. Fitchett, Tony bought all the tooling from Triumph and his legacy is that his company supplies all retailers of Triumph spare parts. In 1998/99 the TR5 was subject to a full restoration to the highest standard by Tony with only original genuine factory parts being used to maintain the originality of the vehicle.A report by Andrew Holyoak on the vehicle states …The vehicle is in exceptional condition. The car has been dry stored and has only covered approximately 700 miles since 1998. The vehicle comes with a large history file, with detailed notes of the restoration with a hand written list by Tony, of parts and part numbers used on the car.It would be hard to find another vehicle that has been restored by a marquee expert, with as low mileage since the job was complete, on the market at the moment. With an estimate by a Triumph specialist stating to reproduce the work put into the car costing up to £75,000, this is surely a special car for a true collector.View 1968 Triumph TR5 on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1968-triumph-tr5' for further details.

* Regretfully Withdrawn* 1984 Mercedes-Benz 380SL

Lot #170 (Sale Order 78 of 88)

The Mercedes-Benz SL range of models have been in production for over sixty years metamorphosing from the Le Mans winning W194 of 1952 to the technologically advanced, aluminium bodied supercars we find today at Mercedes-Benz World. One thing however, has not changed over the years – its fundamental character and identity as an upmarket well-built sports car. You could say the fabulous SL AMG model of today with its gull wing doors is the spiritual successor of the 1956 W121 class Gullwing.Backed by its racing pedigree the SLs glamorous reputation was further enhanced by its appearance on TV when it was rare to see an episode of Dallas or Dynasty in the 1980s without the SL making an appearance! These 3rd generation SLs, the R107, looked …the part in all their guises – the soft-top up or down or with the Pagoda hard-top in place. The simple to use, almost genius soft-top mechanism when folded down out of sight under a panel gives the car its beautifully sleek, uncluttered appearance. With the hard-top in place you could be forgiven for thinking you were in a fixed head coup’©. No less than eight different engine options were available ranging from the straight six 2.8 litre to a mighty 5.6 litre V8. Although a manual gearbox was available, it is very rare and most examples are fitted with an automatic gearbox which best suits the cars designation as a grand tourer. This striking deep blue 1984 example presented here boasts the 3.8 litre, V8 engine and an automatic gearbox which provides a more than adequate turn of speed with the low revving V8 engine effortlessly propelling this …Sport Leicht along. The contrasting interior is described as being in good condition. The history file contains the V5 registration document together with a current MoT test certificate. The car was subject to a respray in early 2017 and is mechanically excellent. This SL presents an inexpensive opportunity to own an iconic Mercedes-Benz with the added benefit of being able to join The Official Mercedes-Benz Club which covers all the needs of an SL owner.View 1984 Mercedes Benz 380SL on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1984-mercedes-benz-380sl' for further details.

Lot #171 (Sale Order 79 of 88)

The Bentley T1 was a Bentley badged version of the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, differing from its Rolls Royce counterpart by its more rounded front grill, and Bentley motif badging throughout. Its price also undercut the Rolls-Royce by £50, designed to be sold to owners wanting an understated luxury saloon. With only 1,703 saloons produced compared to over ten times that number of Shadows, the Bentley could be considered more exclusive. The car for sale here was first registered in Septmeber 1975, and has been with its current custodian since 2005. Complete with a history file, current MoT and Uk V5 registration this T1 is finished in Serpia Brown. Bentley T1s are highly sought after and this example is offered with a sensible reserve.View 1975 Bentley T1 on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1975-bentley-t1' for further details.

2006 Lamborghini Gallardo

Lot #172 (Sale Order 80 of 88)

Lamborghinis new and restyled mid-engine model made its debut at the 2003 Geneva Auto Show. Inspired by a lengthy wing investigation process by Fabrizio Giugiaro of ItalDesign Giugiaro design firm, the production Gallardo was credited to the then Lamborghini design chief Luc Donckerwolke. The Gallardos main engineering was largely down to the Audi team”Lamborghinis senior design partner. An international jury convened by The Triennale di Milano art/design museum voted the 2006 Spider, “The Worlds most Beautiful Car. The Gallardos mechanical performance was comfortably worthy of the Lamborghini badge that sits proud on the front of the bull, Gallardo models offered performance worthy of the fierce breed of Spanish fighting bull that was their namesake. * Regretfully Withdrawn* 1950 Bentley Mk VI Convertible

Lot #173 (Sale Order 81 of 88)

The policy of rationalisation begun in the late 1930s continued at Rolls-Royce after the war with the introduction of standard bodywork on the Mark VI Bentley. Rolls-Royces first post-WW2 product, the Mark VI was introduced in 1946, a year ahead of the Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith.Although mechanically similar to the Mark VI, the latter was exclusively a coachbuilt car, the first …standard steel Rolls-Royce, the Silver Dawn, not appearing until 1949. A separate chassis was retained, the same basic design being built in three different wheelbase lengths, that of the Mark VI (and Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn) measuring 10 exactly. Notable features were independent front suspension and hydraulic front brakes.Powering the range was a new 4,257cc six-cylinder engine featuring …F head (inlet-over-exhaust) valve gear that permitted the use of larger valves than the pre-war overhead-valve unit with a consequent improvement in gas flow.As a concession to the marques sporting pedigree, the Bentley version was equipped with twin SU carburettors, the Rolls making do with a single Stromberg. The Mark VI was a 90mph car while its interior was typically well appointed, boasting leather upholstery and walnut dashboard and door cappings, while the right-hand manual gear change was a characteristically pre-war inheritance.View 1950 Bentley Mk VI Convertible coachwork by Park Ward on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1950-bentley-mk-vi-convertible-coachwork-by-park-ward-3' for further details.

1971 Porsche 911T Targa 1971 Porsche 911T Targa

1971 Porsche 911T Targa

Lot #174 (Sale Order 82 of 88)

Porsches long-running 911 arrived in 1964, replacing the 356. The latters rear-engined layout was retained, but the 911 switched to unitary construction for the body shell and dropped the 356s VW-based suspension in favor of a more modern McPherson strut and trailing arm arrangement. In its first incarnation, Porsches single-overhead-camshaft, air-cooled flat six displaced 1,991cc and produced 130bhp; progressively enlarged and developed, it would eventually grow to more than 3 liters and, in turbo-charged form, put out well over 300 horsepower. The first of countless up-grades came in 1966 with the introduction of the 911S. Easily distinguishable by its stylish Fuchs five-spoked alloy wheels, the …S featured a heavily revised engine producing 160bhp, the increased urge raising top speed by 10mph to 135mph.A lengthened wheelbase introduced in 1969 improved the 911s handling, and then in 1970 the engine underwent the first of many enlargements – to 2.2 liters. Tenacious adhesion, responsive steering, very good flexibility, superb brakes, meticulous finish and a solid, unburstable feel were just some of the virtues praised by Motor magazine in its test of a Porsche 911 in 1973.This wonderful 911T has been owned by the current vendor for over a decade. Its matching numbers engine was the subject to an engine rebuilt by renowned specialists Jazz Motorsport some 25,000 miles ago, then detailed 3,000 miles ago when the clutch was replaced. At this time a new interior was fitted (floor treated with anti-rust paint when the interior was done), along with a replaced dashboard ( the original having being subject to sun-stroke). The original gearbox was rebuilt (new dampers, tyres, brakes, and the Fuchs alloys were subject to refurbishment.Over the 10 years current ownership the best part of £35k has been spent. It is fully serviced every 12 months, and in my ownership has covered about 25,000 miles or 2500 per annum. It is driven regularly (Le Mans Classic every other year since 2008) and never misses a beat.View 1971 Porsche 911T Targa on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1971-porsche-911t-targa' for further details.

1973 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 1973 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000

1973 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000

Lot #176 (Sale Order 83 of 88)

Alfa Romeo produced the 105/115 series coup’©s between 1963 and 1977. They were successors to the Giulietta Sprint coup’© and shared the same shortened floorplan as the Giulia saloon. The design of the body shape was Giorgetto Giugiaros first major project for Bertone and it features similarities with his earlier design for the Alfa Romeo 2000 Sprint. At the time the balance of glass and metal and the flat grille with incorporated headlamps were ground-breaking styling features. All of the various models within the range featured four cylinder light alloy twin-cam engines with cubic capacities ranging from 1290cc to 1962cc. With the exception of US cars all engines featured twin carburettors. Disc brakes on all four wheels and 5-speed manual gearboxes were standard features of all cars. One of the latter incarnations of the 105/115 series coup’©s was the 2000 GT Veloce which is also known as the 2000 GTV. It was introduced in 1971 as a replacement for the 1750 range. The engine displacement was increased to 1962cc and it produced 132 PS. The interior trim was updated with the most noticeable difference being the separate instrument cluster rather than the gauges being installed in the dash panel found in earlier cars. Externally the 2000 GTV is most easily distinguishable by the grille with horizontal chrome bars which features the familiar Alfa heart shape in the centre.Finished in Rosso Corsa, this 2000 GTV is a rare original UK RHD example that has been prepared for racing. One of only 5,451 RHD examples made, this unique car is the only example to have had its roof modified for racing and is now provided with a hard-top.View 1973 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1973-alfa-romeo-gtv-2000' for further details.

2006 Hummer H1 Alpha 2006 Hummer H1 Alpha

2006 Hummer H1 Alpha

Lot #178 (Sale Order 85 of 88)

Originally designed strictly for military use the four-wheel-drive utility vehicle was released by AM Gernal to the civilian market due to popular demand. Boasting 16 inches (40 cm) of ground clearance as well as super-aggressive approach and departure angles, the Hummer could clamber over a 22-inch (56 cm) high obstacle, handle a 60 percent grade and wade through up to 30 inches (76 cm) of water. It is also capable of towing a load weighing in excess of 7,500lbs (3,400kg). A conventional Hummer H1 is powered by a 6.5-litre V8 turbo-diesel producing 205bhp at 3,400rpm and delivering a mighty 440lb/ft of torque at just 1,800 revs. The example on offer today has had a no-expense-spared, nut and bolt restoration and the engine has been upgraded to a 2009 GMC 2500 Sierra Duramax 6.6 litre engine producing 465Bhp with 660lb-ft of torque. Having had an all new transmission, gearbox, custom fuel tank fitted along with a new ECU box and high-performance fuel injectors fitted along with a host of other extras, this Alpha is likely to be one of the best examples in existence. Interior upgrades include four new Cobra Carbon Fibre leather seats, Bentley cross stitch leather interior upgrader with Alcantara roof lining. With just 800 miles on the odometer and with upgrade bills exceeding £120,000 the car is as new and is likely to be one of the most substantial road-going vehicles in the UK.View 2006 Hummer H1 Alpha on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/2006-hummer-h1-alpha-3' for further details.

1967 Cadillac DeVille Convertible 1967 Cadillac DeVille Convertible

1967 Cadillac DeVille Convertible

Lot #179 (Sale Order 86 of 88)

The Cadillac DeVille was originally a trim level and later a separate model produced by Cadillac. The first car to bear the name was the 1949 Coupe de Ville, a prestige trim level of the Series 62 luxury coupe. The 1967 DeVilles were extensively restyled. Prominent styling features were given a powerful frontal appearance with forward-leaning front end, long, sculptured body lines, and redefined rear fenders that had more than just a hint of tail fins in them. The full-width, forward-thrusted “eggcrate grille was flanked by dual stacked headlights for the third consecutive year. The squarer cornered grille insert had blades that seemed to emphasize its vertical members and it appeared both above the bumper and through a horizontal slot cut into it. Rectangular parking lamps were built into the outer edges of the grille. Rear end styling revisions were highlighted by metal divided tail lamps and a painted lower bumper section. Coupe de Villes got a new roofline, inspired by the Florentine show car created for the 1964 New York Worlds Fair, that gave rear seat passengers added privacy. As on that show car, the quarter window glass retracted rearward into a sail panel. Minor trim variations and slightly richer interiors separated DeVille from Calais. Tiffany style chrome signature scripts were again found above the body side molding on the rear fenders. New standard DeVille features included non-glare rear-view mirror, electric clock, Automatic Climate Controls, padded dashboard, Hazard Warning system, outboard seatbelt retractors and rear cigarette lighters in all styles. A slide-out fuse box and safety front seat back lock for two-door models were additional Cadillac advances for the 1967 model year. Technical improvements included a revised engine valve train, different carburetor, Mylar printed circuit instrument panel, re-tuned body mounts, and a new engine fan with clutch for quieter operation. This 1967 Coupe DeVille Convertible has recently benefitted from a repaint, a re-trim in tan leather and a replacement convertible roof. The DeVille is offered with a UK MoT and is ready to hit the road. What a fun way to enjoy the summer – simply add a few friends and lots of gas, and go for a cruise!View 1967 Cadillac DeVille Convertible on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1967-cadillac-deville-convertible' for further details.

1952 Triumph 250 TWN 1952 Triumph 250 TWN

1952 Triumph 250 TWN

Lot #180 (Sale Order 87 of 88)

In 1886, Siegfried Bettmann founded the Triumph bicycle factory in Coventry, England, and in 1896 he founded a second bicycle factory in his native Nuremberg, Germany, under the same Triumph name. Both factories branched out into making motorcycles: the Coventry factory in 1902 and the Nuremberg factory in 1903. In its early decades the Nuremberg factory produced models with the same 499 cc and 545 cc four-stroke engines as its sister plant in Coventry. Confusion between motorcycles produced by the Coventry and Nuremberg Triumph companies led to the latters products being renamed “Orial for certain export markets. However, in the 1920s there was already an Orial motorcycle maker in Lyon, France, so the Nuremberg motorcycles were renamed again as “TWN, standing for Triumph Werke N’_rnberg. After 1913 the English and German factories diverged, with the Nuremberg works making motorcycles with 248 cc and 269 cc two-stroke engines. After the Second World WarTriumph made successful models including the 200 cc Cornet split single two-stroke and the split-single 1 cylinder 350 cc Boss. A split single has one “divided cylinder (with 2 bores) but only one common combustion chamber and spark plug. Triumph/TWNs production of split singles began with the BD250 in 1939 designed by Otto Rieze. In 1956 Max Grundig took over the Nuremberg Company, merged it with his Adlermotorcycle and typewriter business and terminated motorcycle production under the Triumph and TWN names. This very original and largely unmolested Triumph 250 is one of the last of the earlier and more desirable …Triumph Werke Nurnburg (TWN) Triumphs produced in Nurnburg A.G. Truly a collectors piece, this 250 TWN has had the benefit of being in its current ownership for almost 20 years.View 1952 Triumph 250 TWN on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1952-triumph-250-twn' for further details.

1958 Mercedes-Benz 190SL 1958 Mercedes-Benz 190SL

1958 Mercedes-Benz 190SL

Lot #175 (Sale Order 88 of 88)

For those insufficiently wealthy to afford its hyper-expensive, race-bred sports car – the 300SL – Mercedes-Benz offered the less exotic but no less refined 190SL. Announced in 1954 and based on the 180 saloon, whose all-independently-suspended running gear it used, the 190SL did not enter production until January 1955, the delay being caused by alterations aimed at strengthening the saloons shortened platform to compensate for the open bodys reduced stiffness. “Very few new sports cars have been so eagerly awaited or so long in coming as the moderately priced SL version of the Mercedes-Benz, observed Road & Track magazine.Mounted on a detachable subframe along with the four-speed manual gearbox, front suspension and steering, the power unit was a 1,897cc overhead-camshaft four, the first such engine ever to feature in a Mercedes-Benz. Breathing through twin Solex downdraft carburetors, this M121 power unit produced 105bhp at 5,700rpm, an output sufficient to propel the 190SL to 100km/h in 14.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 171km/h. The fact that the 190s ride was more boulevard than sporting, and that many contemporary sports cars could outperform it while costing a good deal less, did nothing to deter sales. The model was a big hit in the US, where a good percentage of the slightly fewer than 26,000 produced between 1955 and 1963 found homes. The car offered here today was bought by the current vendor in 2015 when he imported it from California. Said to be in good condition overall, the car presents wonderfully in her red paintwork over tan trim. In her most recent ownership she has been well maintained and received regular yet sparing dry day usage, showing just over 70,000 recorded miles. Included in the history file are various bills and invoices, a current MOT and UK V5C registration.View 1958 Mercedes-Benz 190SL on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1958-mercedes-benz-190sl-6' for further details.
