Victor Eldridge Johnson TypeB Trademark Phonograph Lot #152 (Sale Order 160 of 549) Victor Eldridge Johnson Type B Trademark Machine Disc Phonograph with fleur de lis design is exceptionally rare, in impeccable condition from having been stored in its original wooden storage box for most of the past 116 years! You may never find another machine quite like this, with its outstanding condition and many included accessories. This fine machine encompasses all of the rarest details of the Trademark machine such as the very desirable original Eldridge Johnson New Century reproducer with its original leather elbow with one slightly open seam, all attached to beautiful, original wooden tone arm that includes all of its original hardware and gleaming original golden oak finish. This is all attached to its original nickel plated cast iron lower support bracket that is only slightly oxidized. The crisp ID tag reads "Victor" made by Eldridge R Johnson, Type B is attached to the beautifully preserved golden oak cabinet with original finish which is handsomely appointed with the fleur de lis design and bold, crisp decorative trim at base - all of which are nearly flawless. This machine has its original, straight winding crank and record hold down with appropriate early knurling which is very lightly oxidized. The original turntable felt is very clean and well preserved. Early style "bolt action" brake, original nickel plating on both rear spring housing and speed control is lightly oxidized. The included horn is an original 15.25", all black leather elbow type horn with a 10" steel bell with beautiful, original black paint and gold pinstriping. While this is an original Berliner horn in very nice condition, it is most likely a replacement steel bell Canadian version, which includes the tiny rivet hole for attaching to leather elbow while remaining correct in size and style for this rare machine and can easily be changed by the lucky new owner. Also included with this fine ensemble is the original wooden storage box that has housed this treasure for many years has evidence of once having had a leather carrying handle which is now missing. It appears to be constructed of pine, with two interior compartments and two original hooks to secure the lid all of which is finished in the original gold varnish with only minimal storage wear. Also included are three needle boxes, two of which are black, faux leather covered cardboard marked "Victor and Monarch needles" plus one unmarked finger jointed wooden box with sliding cover. Also included is a finger jointed wooden box packed with cotton, likely from a medication, that was used to house the reproducer when not in use. A medium sized wooden handled screwdriver likely used to remove the lower support arm completes the list of included accessories, all of which are period appropriate and have likely been with this machine for most of its existence. This remarkable piece of history will be the crown jewel of any phonograph collection. ** IMPORTANT: The records photographed with this lot are separate, and are lotted in the immediately following lots. They do not inherently come with the lot. ** You can view the item playing at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCqxX14sj_0

Victor Eldridge Johnson Type M w/ 42" Horn & Stand Lot #221 (Sale Order 240 of 549) Victor Eldridge Johnson Type M, as seen on page 11 of "Look For the Dog" , this exceptionally rare ensemble may be one of the only compete, surviving ensembles of its kind. The 42", all brass horn with a 16.5" bell was designed to work with a leather elbow and remains untouched with lap seams and has a some minor dings and wrinkles. The original leather elbow is nicely intact however it is open at both seams. This remarkably rare stand, arm and horn cradle is completely original including original thumb screws and hardware, and is untouched and has vast flexibility in extension of height and length to accommodate a variety of applications such as the concert stage, public venues, or outdoor events. The nickel plated stand and arm show acceptable signs of age. In light of the intended applications for such an outfit, this machine has been fitted with oversized Ohio Talk o Phone long throat reproducer. With its greater weight and larger diaphragm, this increases the volume potential of this amazing machine and was most likely fitted with this reproducer by its original owner over 100 years ago. The handsome, early case design with spooled corners has its original golden oak finish and an Eldridge Johnson ID tag. The front of the cabinet includes provision for the standard front mount support bracket however there is no evidence of one ever having been used. It has its original crank and record hold down with the earlier diagonal knurling. The motor winds and runs. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire one of the most elusive ensembles of its kind and will make you the envy of all Victor collectors.

Stock Ticker Tape Machine - Western Union Lot #237 (Sale Order 256 of 549) Original Western Union Telegraph Company Low Base Stock Ticker Tape Machine - early low base stock ticker tape machine mfd. by Steward Company; Newark, NJ. Cast iron base retains 75+% original paint and gold pinstripe. Western Union Telegraph Company decal affixed to the front. "The first ticker tape was developed in 1867, following the advent of the telegraph machine, which allowed for information to be printed in easy-to-read scripts. During the late 19th century, most brokers who traded at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) kept an office near it to ensure they were getting a steady supply of the tape and thus the most recent transaction figures of stocks. These latest quotes were delivered by messengers, or "pad shovers," who ran a circuit between the trading floor and brokers' offices. The shorter the distance between the trading floor and the brokerage, the more up-to-date the quotes were. Ticker-tape machines introduced in 1930 and 1964 were twice as fast as their predecessors, but they still had about a 15 to 20 minute delay between the time of a transaction and the time it was recorded. It wasn't until 1996 that a real-time electronic ticker was launched. It is these up-to-the-minute transaction figures - namely price and volume - that we see today on TV news shows, financial wires and websites; while the actual tape has been done away with, it has retained the name." Comes with wooden base and replacement glass dome.
