Very high condition antique Colt, Single Action Army Revolver made in 1877. Serial number 38835 is Lot #351 (Sale Order 1 of 401) Very high condition antique Colt, Single Action Army Revolver made in 1877. Serial number 38835 is a .45 caliber, 7 1/2" barrel Colt with blue finish and one piece walnut grips. The serial numbers match in all visible areas including the trigger guard, back strap, frame and the last four digits of the number are on the cylinder. All markings are clear with the 3-line patent dates marked on the frame. The .45 caliber is the early style marked on the back left flat of the trigger guard. Most of the blue is present on the barrel, ejector housing and trigger guard with minor loss of finish on the back strap and cylinder. There is feathering present on both sides of the front sight and on both sides of the front trigger guard. This is the indication of the original polish marks that most collectors look for. The walnut grips fit perfectly and may have had a light coat of varnish applied. The action is crisp and functions perfectly. The bore has a small area of minor roughness. This is an outstanding Colt in nearly new condition.

Beautiful engraved Colt Single Action Army Revolver with carved Steer Head Pearl grips. Made in 189 Lot #383 (Sale Order 34 of 401) Beautiful engraved Colt Single Action Army Revolver with carved Steer Head Pearl grips. Made in 1895, this antique Colt is made in a very scarce configuration of a .41 caliber with a 7 1/2" barrel. This combination is seldom found and even more scarce with a black powder frame. The engraving is a period style engraving often seen on guns engraved in New York. The markings are all clear with the serial number 159712 matching on the trigger guard, frame and back strap. There is a vin number visible 754 on the inside flat of the loading gate and on the front of the cylinder. Colt applied these vin numbers to guns that were returned to the factory for reconditioning. No further disassembly was done to search for these numbers on other parts. The left from trigger guard also has the "VP" (Verified Proof) mark that would have been stamped at the time of the reconditioning. The restored finish is extremely fine with only minor loss on the high points of the revolver. The slightly oversized carved pearl grips are of the period with small chips present in some areas and on the corners. This Colt is accompanied by a 1978 Colt Archive letter indicating that no record exists for this gun. Small hang tag states factory re-do engraving in the late 40s.

Attractive antique Colt Single Action Army Revolver, London shipped during one of Buffalo Bill's Eur Lot #473 (Sale Order 124 of 401) Attractive antique Colt Single Action Army Revolver, London shipped during one of Buffalo Bill's European tours. Verified by the Colt Archive Department letter, Colt SAA Serial Number 144081 is a .44/40 caliber with a 5 1/2" barrel, blue finish and unlisted stocks which is an indication that it left the factory with standard rubber stocks. It was shipped March 16, 1892 to the Colts Patent Firearms office in London, England. Buffalo Bill performed in London from May 9th through October 27, 1892. This gun could have been purchased in London and used in the Buffalo Bill Wild West before it came to the U.S. upon their return. The current rubber stocks are the seldom seen "high horse" or "eagle less eagle" grips that were produced for a very short time and are of the correct period for this Colt. They fit well and may be original to the gun. The markings are all clear and legible with the Colt Frontier Six Shooter marking on the side of the barrel being light. The gun has a flawless action and a strong bore with light roughness. The finish is expertly and beautifully restored, reportedly by Dave Lanara.

Unique Colt Single Action Army converted to a .45 smooth bore. This antique Colt, serial number 150 Lot #478 (Sale Order 129 of 401) Unique Colt Single Action Army converted to a .45 smooth bore. This antique Colt, serial number 1502 appears to have originally been manufactured as a .22 caliber Rim Fire due to the "22 CAL" marking on the left rear flat of the trigger guard. It is the writers opinion that the factory converted this gun to a .45 caliber smooth bore before it left the factory. The serial number matches on the frame, trigger guard, back strap and barrel. The cylinder has a number "6" marked on the side. This cylinder is the earliest style with no approaches cut before the bolt notches. The barrel has the correct early style italics address from 1874 but has no signs of rifling and minor roughness. The walnut grips fit very well and appear to be original to the gun. There is some finish remaining on the trigger guard and on the ejector housing. Smooth bore guns were often used by trick shooters in Wild West Shows. This gun likely has a very colorful history.

Beautiful factory engraved Colt 1877 Revolver with gold cylinder and pearl grips. This is an outsta Lot #480 (Sale Order 131 of 401) Beautiful factory engraved Colt 1877 Revolver with gold cylinder and pearl grips. This is an outstanding example of Helfricht engraving from 1889. The Colt Archive Department lists serial number 71036 as a .38 caliber, 4 1/2" barrel, nickel finish with gold cylinder and pearl grips shipped to the J.F. Schmelzer & Sons Arms Company in Kansas City, Missouri in a two gun shipment. Factory engraved 1877s are scarce but any gold factory finish is hardly ever seen. Most of the original nickel finish remains on all components. The gold is partially worn on the cylinder. This gun has high coverage of beautiful scrolls on the barrel and frame. The action functions correctly in both single and double action. The markings are all crisp and sharp. The bore has strong rifling with some roughness. The pearl grips fit very well and may be original to the gun. This is an outstanding example of a factory engraved 1877 that would be a fine addition to any Colt collection.

ATTENTION COLLECTORS OF HISTORICAL OLD WEST ARTIFACTS: "Cased, Presentation Smith & Wesson, First M Lot #486 (Sale Order 137 of 401) ATTENTION COLLECTORS OF HISTORICAL OLD WEST ARTIFACTS: "Cased, Presentation Smith & Wesson, First Model, Second Issue .22 caliber Tip Up Revolver. The overall condition of this historic Smith & Wesson Revolver is excellent. The frame retains 100% original bright silver finish. The hammer and trigger retain 100% vivid case colors. The cylinder retains 95% bright blue, the barrel retains approximately 45% bright blue, the other 55% is present but has lost its lustre. The rosewood grips are near factory new. The inscription "Kate Fisher", which is engraved on the backstrap is a very old inscription, which bears no resemblance to factory work of that era. However, this Revolver was manufactured in approximately 1868 and was probably inscribed c. 1875 or 1876, judging from the age and the structure of the letters. It is original and authentic. "Kate Fisher" was the sweetheart of Doc Holliday. Her exploits on the frontier could fill a book. Her nickname was "Big Nose Kate" and she ran saloons and brothels in Dodge City and other frontier towns where she became the girlfriend of the infamous dentist. This Revolver really must be seen to be appreciated." Ron Ogan, Historian, Palm Beach, Florida. Framed documents will be sold with this historical Smith & Wesson. Please note this artifact is in its original Smith & Wesson marked Gouda Percha case. Dan Hardesty Estate Collection.
