Light charcoal sateen lining shows minor sweat staining with no maker stampings apparent. In excellent collectible condition. This cap is out of a 60+ year private Vet acquired collection that primarily focused on WW2 Kreigsmarine items.

Rare Early NCO/Officer's Black Panzer Beret "Schutzmütze"

This beret consists of two pieces: a crash helmet, which served to protect the heads of the panzer crew from injuries sustained when the vehicle was motoring over rough terrain, and a cover. The crash helmet is round-shaped, constructed with approximately 50 mm wide, reinforced, heavily padded band; the exterior and rolls covered in machine spun black wool. The indentation between the two rolls acts as a receiver for the elastic band on the covering beret, ensuring a secure fit. There are eight evenly spaced grommets placed around the circumference of the crash helmet, and nine evenly spaced grommets placed on top around the edges; the grommets are used for ventilation and are constructed of black Bakelite with . The interior of padded crash helmet part is constructed of padded cork like material with a black artificial silk covering. The sweat band is mostly not intact. The crown of the helmet has indentations with a black wool circular machine spun covering. The top cover also is constructed in this manner and we have taken photos against a strong back light to show this. The lappet or small pom-pom is intact. The edge of the cover has an internally sewn elastic band that still retains the elasticity. The flat wire embroidered insignia is crisply embroidered on a black rayon blend base and has been machine sewn to the body. The wreath/cockade insignia appears to have been "stretched" during the embroidery process as it is slightly misshapen and the machine stitched border is not uniform as shown in the photo of the interior of the cover. There is no reaction to UV lighting. Overall, with the exception of the "sloppily" applied wreath/cockade insignia, which may or may not have been period applied, (Please bid based on your own research, knowledge and expertise), this beret is a textbook period example!

Leather body shows normal period scratches and scuffs. Leather straps and ear flaps are still fairly supple. There is a "crack" in the adjustment strap but is not all the way through. Aluminum alloy 2nd pattern NSKK eagle device is in excellent condition. Leather tongue liner has the original oil cloth RZM tag and is dated 1936. The front interior has a cork strip. The rear soft leather neck flap does have a couple of superficial tears. Overall, in very fine collectible condition.

Twisted wire wrapped celluloid grip has toned to a medium cream color. Aluminum alloy pommel and cross guard still retain crisp detail to the raised relief areas. Double edged bright steel blade shows very minor surface pitting in a couple of spots and age graying throughout. Pressed metal scabbard is dent free and shows normal period wear.

Crisply die struck zinc badge still retaining some of the original silver finish to the wreath. Correct period construction by this maker. The detail is sharp throughout. Domed rivets are period construction. The catch mounting base is correctly constructed as well as the flat wire catch has the die strike "striation" marks along the edges. The weight of this particular badge is 40.3 grams. The reverse has a place on the wreath just above the RK maker mark where the finish has been rubbed away and there is a every small notch along the edge. The vets often checked badges and medals for silver and/or gold content. In original condition as found in WW2 U.S. soldier estate.

Slip on shoulder boards each having one acorn device that usually denotes the rank of Forestmeister. The right collar tab does show slight damage. There are loops for 2 awards on the left breast pocket. The Bakelite buttons show the Prussian style state service insignia with swastika. The matching pants do show slight age damage. Scarce rank!

Early Ground Rohm SA Dagger With Scabbard-Eickhorn

Early double oval Eickhorn maker mark. Nicely toned dark brown finish pearwood grip. Inset enameled SA button and typical Eickhorn "long neck" grip eagle. Nickel finish fittings with district stamp on reverse of lower cross guard. Double edge steel blade shows age graying and some original burnishing still remains in the crisply etched motto. The reverse shows the heavy grind marks from having the Rohm inscription removed. It was not all that uncommon for the soldier to have the inscription removed and not have the grind marks polished out. You can still make out the end of the leg from the letter "M" just above the maker mark. Anodized finish scabbard body with nickel fittings is in very fine condition. Leather hanger with nickel buckle is still supple.

Narrow wasp serrated blade is in excellent condition. Armor hide handle and cross guard show some wear. Blade is serial numbered 024146 which dates it to 1972 according to Gerber's records. Original leather sheath and Gerber marked sharpening stone are both in excellent condition. These Vietnam War era Gerber fighting knives are quite desireable and getting harder to find, especially in this condition!

So…Where to start… Extremely well made- Silk like base material with twisted cotton fringe. The edge stitching for the fringe has been done in such a manner that it is hidden and on the inside of the edges. The multi piece Swastika has been applied using folds with a secondary black Russian braid. The white silk like circular center is also separately applied. The lettering on both sides is done in a period style chain stitching. Black ebony finish hanging pole has 2 gold colored acorns that are removeable. The twisted cotton hanger and tassel cords are much thicker than the fringe. Each tassel is very intricately constructed and have metal hanger rings. The letter "W" in Erwache is done using the double "V" method. The size is very close to the size of the Erwache "Rider" Standarte. There is no reaction to UV lighting whatsoever. We have shown this item to several knowledgeable collectors and have posted photos on the WAF forum. Nobody has ever seen another one constructed in this way. There have been many different opinions on this... Period made for special event...Period manufacturers sample....Unfinished Rider's Standarte....Period occupied territory made...Reenactor's banner...Movie Prop....? In any case...definitely one of a kind and excellent conversation piece! Possibly the sleeper of the auction! Winning bidder will not be disappointed with the stunning workmanship of this item! Bell crown busby with black astrakhan fur on sides and yellow wool top with point folded over and secured with a button on right side; long yellow hat cord attached to loops at center back and left side; gilded metal crossed saber insignia and black velvet-covered oval device with embroidered "A" attached in front; metal scale chin strap with black leather backing secured at either side by a gilded metal button embossed with crossed sabers; leather half-lining with cord lacing. Maker marked inside "Made For Squadron A by the Warnock Co. N.Y." PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING HISTORY! In 1885 a small group of New York City gentlemen formed a private cavalry organization called the “First New York Hussars” and later the “New York Dragoons.” The group’s popularity and seriousness quickly grew. On April 2, 1889, the organization officially mustered in the New York State National Guard as Troop A, Cavalry. Fresh from its highly commendable service during the Brooklyn Trolley Strike in 1895, Troop A continued to grow and received a new designation, Squadron A, in February 1895. Squadron A’s popularity and success spurred interested horsemen in neighboring Brooklyn to form a mounted troop, Troop C, Cavalry (officially organized in December 1895.) New York’s cavalry volunteers during the Spanish American War included one troop, designated as Troop A, Cavalry, New York Volunteers, with 105 volunteers and three officers from Squadron A. The second troop, designated as Troop C, Cavalry, New York Volunteers, included volunteers from the Brooklyn-based Troop C, Cavalry. During the brief war, the horse soldiers in Troops A and C, Cavalry, New York Volunteers served in Puerto Rico where Troop C engaged in several skirmishes with Spanish troops. After the Spanish American War, in Albany, Troop B, Cavalry organized and mustered into service in January 1902. In Syracuse, Troop D, Cavalry mustered into service in April 1904. In Brooklyn, Troop C, Cavalry expanded into a squadron, Squadron C, to include two troops in December 1904 and another two troops added in 1908. Even Squadron A grew in size with another troop added in May 1907. Growth led to consolidation as the 1st Cavalry organized in late December 1911 to merge New York’s Squadron A and Brooklyn’s Squadron C with a new squadron, organized September 11, 1911, known as the Third Squadron. Headquartered in Albany, the Third Squadron included only two troops, Albany’s Troop B and Syracuse’s Troop D. Additionally, in 1912 six new cavalry troops organized. Four troops joined the 1st Cavalry: Troop L, based in New York City (immediately re-designated as Troop C); Troop M, based in Brooklyn; Troop H, from Rochester; and Troop I, from Buffalo. The remaining two new troops, Troop F, from Staten Island, and Troop G, from Utica, joined a newly created cavalry regiment, the 2nd Cavalry, organized in March 1912, with five troops pulled from the 1st Cavalry. Ultimately by mid-1914 the New York National Guard included one full cavalry regiment, the 1st Cavalry, plus one squadron, Squadron A, and one Machine Gun Cavalry troop, a company of machine gunners attached to division headquarters in New York City. In June 1916, New York National Guard cavalrymen responded to President Woodrow Wilson’s call to arms along the Mexican Border. New York supplied a full division known as the New York Division or, more officially, the 6th Division. The division included over 1200 cavalry troops from the 1st Cavalry (959 officers and men), Squadron A (219), and the Machine Gun Troop, Cavalry (65). When the United States joined World War I in July 1917, the deadly European war had already raged for nearly three years. The tactics and technology witnessed during the war’s first three years, specifically trench warfare and the use of new advanced weaponry like machine guns, heavy artillery, and tanks, rendered traditional horse soldiers obsolete. Consequently, when the New York National Guard’s old New York Division, or 6th Division, mustered into federal service as the 27th Division, the division’s cavalry units dismounted and served in the 104th, 105th, or 106th Machine Gun Battalions or the 102nd Trench Mortar Battery.

SS photo albums are quite rare. Period padded cloth cover with what appears to be a gothic letter S monogram made of a rubbery type material. There are 66 photographs in total. There are 13 original snapshot photos depicting single SS soldiers either posing for portrait or in the field. There is a large photo of Himmler on the inside of the front cover. There is a larger post card size photo of Hitler with writing along the edges and on the back. There is what appears to be a press photo of a higher ranking SS officer as there are remnants of the press paper on the reverse. There is an original snapshot photo of Hitler standing with a group of civilians and an officer (unpublished?), There is a snapshot of a black flag with SS runes being flown in front of a warehouse. There are several photos of groups of SS soldiers with combat gear. One photo in particular shows the soldiers wearing the GERMANIA cuff title. There are photos of what appears to be a mess hall and a medical facility with an SS soldier overseeing women doing laundry. There are several postcard photos depicting SS soldiers in uniform and postcard SS soldier wedding photos. There is a large photo of an SS soldier wearing winter combat clothing relaxing behind a tripod machine gun. You can see the SS runes on his helmet. One of the larger photos appears to be an SS sports facility building or gym with a clock tower on the roof and the SS motto with a double rune shield on the front of the building. There are other misc. photos showing crowds of civilians and possible family members. Fascinating and rare photo album! You gotta see all the photos of the photos!

Period contract tag by AERO LEATHER CO.-Early embroidered "flying Bomb" squadron patch used by the 62rd when they first activated and were assigned B-17 aircraft. A new design was used when they changed over to B-24 aircraft. Leather strip with silvered air crew wings is sewn onto the left breast diagonally. Theater made 5th AAF patch embroidered on wool base is on the left shoulder. Leather is supple and has been treated with a leather softener. Knit waist and cuff bands show wear. Original Talon zipper is intact and functions smoothly. Jacket is size 36. Original WWII period jacket with scarce Squadron patch!

In researching this company, it did manufacture a lot of private purchase leather items for WWII airmen. The UNITED CARR snap is the 1930-40's style snap. Unusual configuration having a Talon zipper pull and CONMAR zipper stop and functions smoothly. Knitted waist and cuff bands show minor wear. Scarce item and nice larger size.

Jacket is a size 36L and is dated Dec. 16, 1944. We showed this jacket around at the MAXX show in Monroeville to get opinions on the bullion insignia and all assessments were positive and that the insignia was period theater made and applied. Stunning 17th AB patch on the left shoulder as well as the bullion embroidered wings on padded wool having been applied with "Victory" stitching. The CIB is sterling hallmarked. It is named on the right interior breast pocket. "Storey..and has a W-4871 laundry stamping at the neck indicating this jacket was worn by 2 different soldiers which was not at all uncommon. Jacket has some light staining. In overall excellent collectible condition. Rare example!

Last Ditch Japanese Bayonet W/Bamboo Scabbard

Late war bayonet with 3/4 wrap wood grip and squared pommel. Unfullered blade still retains nearly all of the original blued finish and is maker stamped with symbols for Toyoda Jidoshoki Seisakusho (Toyoda Automatic Loom Works) under Nagoya supervision. The pommel is serial numbered. The cross guard is straight and semi squared off at the end. Cord wrapped bamboo scabbard is in excellent condition with metal throat and tip fittings. If you like "minty" items, this scarce last ditch bayonet would be extremely difficult to upgrade!

RARE! Original Direct Collector Acquired US Army 4 Star General Named Uniform-James F. Collins

Lot #200 (Sale Order 201 of 213)

Amazing uniform named and worn by 4 star general James Francis Collins. All original and as acquired by the collector DIRECTLY from General Collins. I Corps patch on the right shoulder which is correct as General Collins commanded the I Corps Artillery in the Philipines and Japan at tghe close of WW2. He served exclusivly in the Pacific Theater during WWII. Collins was later commander of forces in the Pacific Oceans Area and that patch is on the left shoulder. All the ribbon bars are correct. There are two Joint Chief Of Staff Badges, one on each pocket. Tunic is dated 3-22-60 and named to Collins at which time he was the rank of Lt. General. The 4 silver General's stars on each shoulder strap are very detailed. The pants are not named but came with the tunic. Also included is an original 8 X 10 B&W photograph and table name cards-There is also a very detailed biography of General Collins. Just an amazing one of a kind piece of history!

Very intricate construction with bullion, silk and cotton embroidery. Double sided. This was brought back by an occupation soldier in 1946. These type banners were usually for groups associated with the defense of the Japanese homeland. Rare item and displays nicely. It measures from end of fringe to end of fringe approx. 40" X 34". In excellent condition.

Double sided example. The end without the fringe has the pole hanger stitching. Twisted gold silk fringe on 3 sides. Original cloth maker tag is intact. Outside of being wrinkled from storage, a near mint example. It measures approx. 30" X 44"

WW2 German Soldier Engraved Blade Dress Bayonet-Holler

Single panel acid etched 8" blade with spear point as worn by NCO's. Crisp detail to the etching with double eagle motif. Maker stamped F.W. Holler in an oval with this firms thermometer trademark. The chrome fittings and blade are in excellent condition. The checkered Bakelite grips are crack free. The bayonet slot has a strip of red felt. Original period black painted scabbard is in excellent condition. The leather frog still has strong stitching. It does show wear at the top of the belt fold. In excellent collectible condition!

Rare WW2 Captured NSDAP Podium Banner With Vet Artwork-395th Inf. Regt./99th Infantry Division

Single sided podium banner with white twisted silk fringe. It measures approx. 30" X 36" The white circular center has a printed swastika and is separately applied. It measures approx. 19" in diameter. This banner has some of the most intricate and well done soldier art we have seen! Done by a soldier of the 395th Infantry Regiment of the 99th Infantry Division. All hand done and colors are still vivid. The top is missing one of the 3 hanger rings. There is also a small section of fringe missing. If you only wanted one very unique NSDAP banner for display, this has to be it!

Original carry bag with double zippers is contract dated 67'. The original Centex helmet has all electronics and has a contract date of 71'. The earphone amplifiers have come loose as they often do with these type helmets. The front visor is not present, otherwise in excellent collectible condition.

Double sided having 2 circular fields and a printed Political style eagle. Very finely made having a black felt band at the top just below the pole hanger loop. The bottom has a heavy silver bullion twisted cord fringe. Possiblly used in a Great Hall…High ceiling Nazi Government building..? It measures approx. 14" wide X 12' long. All period stitching and no reaction to UV lighting. Rare item!
