Tri-B.S.A 500 (circa 1954) Tri-B.S.A 500 (circa 1954)

Tri-B.S.A 500 (circa 1954)

Lot #105 (Sale Order 1 of 79)

The Tribsa, or Tri-B.S.A was a custom built cafe racer or off road motorcycle of the 1960s and 1970s. Its name was an elision of ‘Triumph’ and ‘BSA’ and the purpose was to combine the best elements of each marque to give a superior bike to either. A Tribsa involved a Triumph parallel twin engine installed in BSA motorcycle frame. Although both the BSA A65 and the Triumph twin engines were overhead valve units, only the Triumph had twin camshafts which facilitated tuning for greater power output. The BSA frame was a duplex-cradle design which was considered stiffer and stronger than the Triumph's single downtube item hence the best of both and Tribsa was built experimentally at Meriden by Triumph in 1973 using surplus BSA A65 frames which led to a ‘factory Tribsa’ which was to use the BSA A65 frames. Not many of these hybrids were produced and factory records are vague. This Tribsa has been estimated as a 1954 built motorcycle, BSA records show the frame was manufactured from 1954-1959 and Triumph records show the engine was manufactured between 1953 and 1954. The motorcycle is described as being in good original condition, although she will require tuning due to lack of use. The vendor seems to think the bike was raced in the 1957 Isle of Man TT although has no supporting evidence to confirm this. These café racers are handsome machines and this interesting example is supplied with a V5C registration document.]]

Triumph Daytona Rickman Metisse Triumph Daytona Rickman Metisse

Triumph Daytona Rickman Metisse

Lot #106 (Sale Order 2 of 79)

In motorcycling terms the name Metisse was born in 1959 when scrambling brothers Derek and Don Rickman built and successfully raced a machine made up of a BSA frame and gearbox, a Triumph 500cc engine and Norton forks. This was to be the beginning of a line of successful off-road racers, road racers and street bikes. Built on a combination of passion for motorcycles and innovative engineering, the machines from the small factory in New Milton, Hampshire found their way to winners circles all over the world. In 1966 the film star Steve McQueen bought a Triumph engine Metisse to compete in desert races in the U.S.A and described it as ‘the best handling bike I’ve ever owned’. This Steve McQueen desert racer is based on the Metisse Mk. III that has been the class-winning off road motorcycle since the 1960’s. She presents well in sumptuous shade of dark green. Powered by a 650cc Triumph engine, this attractive classic would surely look good in any collection.]]

Harley-Davidson ‘Iron head’ Harley-Davidson ‘Iron head’

Harley-Davidson ‘Iron head’

Lot #107 (Sale Order 3 of 79)

The Ironhead was a Harley-Davidson motorcycle engine, so named because of the composition of the cylinder heads which were made of iron instead of aluminium. The engine is a two-cylinder, two valves per cylinder, pushrod V-twin and it was produced from 1957 until 1985 until replaced by the Evolution engine in 1986. The Ironhead name was applied to the Harley-Davidson Sportster motorcycles that used this engine. This 1000cc Harley-Davidson is an impressive looking motorcycle. It is easy to see why the brand has such a loyal following. This beauty from Wisconsin was registered on 1st August 1978 and presents well in black with a purple tank design. Offered to auction with a V5C registration document and we are informed by the vendor that the bike will be supplied with a current MoT test certificate.]]

Greeves TS Trials 250 Greeves TS Trials 250

Greeves TS Trials 250

Lot #108 (Sale Order 4 of 79)

The company founded by Bert Greeves ,MBE soon after WW2 was the same Invacar company that won a major contract to provide motorised, three-wheeled, invalid carriage vehicles to the UK Government Ministry of Pensions and National Insurance. The invalid carriages sold well and established a firm foundation for the factory, based in Essex. The factory possessed its own foundry and very soon, became expert in the new technology of fibreglass moulding. As a keen trials rider, Bert Greeves soon indulged his interest and started to build motorcycles for trials and scrambles and in 1954, a roadster joined the range. Using Villiers or British Anzani engines and suspension based on the invalid cars' rubber units, the frames illustrated another Greeves innovation. In place of the normal tubular front section and steering head was a single enormously strong aluminium alloy H-section beam. This Greeves TS Trials bike presents in very good condition after being restored although she does require a little recommissioning due to lack of use. Supplied with an official dating certificate and a V5C registration document, this 250cc motorcycle looks to be attractively estimated given the condition and rarity of this motorcycle.]]

Matchless G12 (650cc) Matchless G12 (650cc)

Matchless G12 (650cc)

Lot #110 (Sale Order 5 of 79)

The Matchless G12 was produced by Associated Motorcycles at the former Matchless works in Plumstead, London. Developed in 1958 specifically to capture the potentially lucrative US market, it was one of the last motorcycles made under the Matchless name. It was also produced as the AJS Model 31 by the same company. Designer Phil Walker knew that it had to be a 650cc but wanted to use as many parts from the Model 11 as possible. The cylinders could not be bored out further so the stroke was lengthened from 72.8 to 79.3mm resulting in a capacity of 646cc. This meant developing a new crankshaft and primary chaincase which also provided the opportunity to add a Lucas alternator.  This Matchless was restored a few years ago and still presents in nice order today. We are advised by the vendor that she runs well and is a good starter. These handsome bikes with their semi-chromed fuel tanks are a testament to a once thriving British motorcycle industry. Supplied with a V5C registration document.]]

Royal Enfield Crusader Sports Royal Enfield Crusader Sports

Royal Enfield Crusader Sports

Lot #111 (Sale Order 6 of 79)

Royal Enfield was the brand name under which The Enfield Cycle Company Limited of Redditch, Worcestershire, sold motorcycles, bicycles, lawnmowers and stationary engines which they had manufactured. Enfield Cycle Company also used the brand name Enfield without Royal. The first Royal Enfield motorcycle was built in 1901. The Enfield Cycle Company is responsible for the design and original production of the Royal Enfield Bullet, the longest living motorcycle design in history. The 250cc class was important in the UK as it was the largest engine which a learner could ride without passing a test. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, Royal Enfield produced a number of 250cc machines, including a racer, a Scrambler with the biggest-seller being the Crusader, a 248cc pushrod overhead valve single producing 18bhp. This matching numbers motorcycle is a project that needs completing although we are advised she requires not too much work to finish her. A box of spares is supplied as is a workshop manual and owners handbook. The bike is supplied with a V5C registration document confirming the registration number SHM 834 is transferrable if required, together with a number of invoices confirming recent work carried out.]]

Triumph Thunderbird GT Triumph Thunderbird GT

Triumph Thunderbird GT

Lot #112 (Sale Order 7 of 79)

The 6T Thunderbird was launched publicly at Montlhéry near Paris in 1949 where three standard-production bikes were ridden around a circuit by a team of riders who between them averaged a speed of 92mph over a distance of 500 miles. All three machines were ridden to the circuit and back to the Meriden factory. Triumph obtained further lasting publicity with Marlon Brando's 1953 motion picture ‘The Wild One’, in which he rode a 1950 6T Thunderbird. In the book ‘Triumph Motorcycles in America’, there is a letter reproduced from Triumph's importers to the producers objecting to the use of their machine in this film about rowdy motorcycle gangs. From 1960, the Thunderbird acquired Turner's rear fairing nicknamed the 'bathtub' on account of its shape; a feature which was quickly dropped in the USA market but remained in ever-abbreviated forms for the home market before disappearing altogether for the final year of production, 1966. Before then in 1963, the Thunderbird, along with Triumph's other 650cc models, was given the Turner-designed unit engine. Throughout this time, however, the Thunderbird retained its distinctive nacelle. This handsome motorcycle, with the smaller rear mudguard, is a matching numbers example and appears to be pretty original. She is supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 14th November 2018.]]

Vespa 400 Luxe Vespa 400 Luxe

Vespa 400 Luxe

Lot #114 (Sale Order 8 of 79)

The Vespa 400 is a rear engined microcar, produced by ACMA in Fourchambault, France, from 1957 to 1961 to the designs of the Italian Piaggio company. Three different versions were sold, the Luxe, Tourisme and GT. The car made its high profile public debut on 26th September 1957 at a press presentation staged in Monaco. The 400 was a two seater car with room behind the seats to accommodate luggage or two small children on an optional cushion. The front seats were simple tubular metal frames with cloth upholstery on elastic 'springs' and between the seats were the handbrake, starter and choke. The gear change was centrally floor mounted. The rear hinged doors were coated on the inside with only a thin plastic lining attached to the metal door panel skin allowing valuable extra internal space. The cabriolet fabric roof could be rolled back from the windscreen header rail to the top of the rear engine cover leaving conventional metal sides above the doors. The 12 volt battery was located at the front of the car, behind the dummy front grille, on a shelf that could be slid out. The spare wheel was stowed in a well under the passenger seat. Vespa is known around the world for its scooters, but few people may know it produced one economy car. The company’s president felt that FIAT’s prominence in Italy should not be challenged, so the Vespa 400 was produced in France. This wonderful little car is presented in great condition having been restored over a two year period between 2015 and 2017, after it was found abandoned in a barn in Liguria in Italy. Every effort was made to source the missing parts and restore it to as much its original condition as possible. The car comes with a new engine, clutch, interior, brakes and tyres, it also comes with the original French documentation. This is a rare car and to find one restored to this level is a delight. Surely this will turn heads wherever it is driven due to its cute desirability.]]

Land Rover Defender 90 - ‘The Man from U.N.C.L.E.’

Lot #122 (Sale Order 9 of 79)

In a modern take on the classic television serial in the 1960s, CIA agent Solo and KGB agent Kuryakin are forced to put aside longstanding hostilities and team up on a joint mission to stop a mysterious international criminal organisation that is bent on destabilising the fragile balance of power through the proliferation of nuclear weapons and technology. The duo's only lead is the daughter of a vanished German scientist who is the key to infiltrating the criminal organization, and they must race against time to find him and prevent a worldwide catastrophe. The action sequences are superb and this Guy Ritchie directed action extravaganza represents, as you would expect, a relentless parade of cars, helicopters, motorbikes and planes in superbly choreographed stunts. One such vehicle is the petrol V8 powered Land Rover Defender 90 presented here. During the film, it is disguised with an earlier Series III front but the underpinnings are definitely 1991. It also benefits from a full exterior roll cage and 'Old Man Emu Suspension', especially designed in Australia for superior performance across all terrain. We are informed that this ex-MoD Land Rover was initially acquired by Warner Brothers in 2012 and modified by Alex King, the picture vehicle coordinator of Dena Films, for a number of sequences in the 2015 film, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Presented in great condition with an MoT test certificate valid until January 2019, this is, quite simply, great fun and a fabulous collector’s car for fans of the film or indeed Land Rovers.]]

Range Rover Classic Range Rover Classic

Range Rover Classic

Lot #127 (Sale Order 10 of 79)

The first generation Range Rover was produced between 1970 and 1996 and while certainly upmarket compared to preceding Land Rover models was not designed as a luxury type 4x4; the early Range Rovers had basic, utilitarian interiors with vinyl seats and plastic dashboards designed to be washed down with a hose. Features such as power-assisted steering, carpeted floors; air-conditioning, cloth/leather seats and wooden interior trim were fitted later. The Range Rover was a body-on-frame design with a box section ladder type chassis, similar to contemporary Land Rovers. The original Range Rover utilised coil springs as opposed to leaf springs, permanent four wheel drive and four wheel disc brakes and was originally powered by the Rover V8 engine. This very early four door was initially built in Solihull between 15th and 25th February 1982 and was despatched to Appleyard Farm Services Ltd, Ripon, Yorkshire, on 1st March. It was first registered on 11th November 1982 and is still on its original registration plate, all documented with accompanying BHIHT Heritage Certificate. Presented in Sahara Dust with Bronze Teddy Bear trim, the interior is completely original including rather unusually, the headlining. Having been Ziebart rust proofed from new, the condition is exceptional with the original Ziebart sticker still in the rear window. Recent maintenance includes new rear shock absorbers, exhaust, fuel pump, under bonnet soundproofing and OEM radiator and it was also fitted with a Fairey overdrive unit which is functioning correctly. Documentation accompanying the vehicle includes a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in April 2019, correspondence from BL Cars Limited regarding the Supercover warranty, sales brochure, original handbook, radio instructions, and sales invoice from the Land Rover Centre Huddersfield, in 2006, showing 38,771 miles, plus supporting MoT test history to verify the current mileage of 57,600. One of the best examples we have come across and certainly worthy of the 'Classic' badge.]]

Renault 5TX Cleveland Convertible Renault 5TX Cleveland Convertible

Renault 5TX Cleveland Convertible

Lot #129 (Sale Order 11 of 79)

The Renault 5 was launched onto the right hand drive UK market in the autumn of 1972, where, alongside the recently launched Fiat 127, it competed as an imported but more modern alternative to British Leyland's Mini and Chrysler Europe's Hillman Imp. The 5 narrowly missed out on the 1973 European Car of the Year award, which was instead given to the Audi 80. The R5 borrowed mechanicals from the similarly popular Renault 4, using a longitudinally-mounted engine driving the front wheels with torsion bar suspension. OHV engines were borrowed from the Renault 4 and larger Renault 8; there was a choice, at launch, between 782cc and 956cc according to price level. The 5TS and 5LS both with the 1,289cc engine from the Renault 12 was added from April 1974. As on the Renault 4, entry level Renault 5’s had their engine sizes increased to 845cc in 1976 and at the top of the range later models had the engine sizes expanded to 1,397cc. The Renault 5 went on to enjoy cult status when the turbo and rear engine Group B derived Maxi cars were introduced. The car offered on sale here is an incredibly rare convertible R5 TX, believed to be a Cleveland conversion. Renault never produced a convertible R5 themselves but Cleveland offered the service and later in 1989 the Belgium firm EBS. The Clevelandbodywork incorporates a sturdy roll-over bar and chassis strengthening members. All exposed metal areas were fully treated and rust proofed before final assembly. The opening boot, combined with folding rear seats, provided access to a generous luggage space. The rear parcel shelf facilitates the neat stowage of the hood and provides extra space when the hood is raised. It can be raised and lowered by one person in just a few moments. This car has benefitted from a recent bare metal respray in its attractive metallic blue. The interior is in incredible condition for a car of its age and shows little sign of wear. The TX models were the top specification for the R5 range; including power steering, electric windows and alloy wheels. Having covered 75,000 miles this car offers a unique opportunity to acquire a truly rare car and one you would be lucky to see another example of. The car is supplied with a V5C registration document, MoT test certificate that expires in December 2018 and unique A100 OVJ number plate.  ]]

Rover P5B Saloon Rover P5B Saloon

Rover P5B Saloon

Lot #132 (Sale Order 12 of 79)

In 1965, Rover's Managing Director, William Martin-Hurst, secured the tooling and production rights to the '215' V8 engine from Buick. Rover redeveloped the engine and launched it at the end of 1967 which, along with some other modifications, transformed their already highly regarded and successful P5 flagship into the P5B. The new aluminium V8 was significantly lighter and considerably more powerful than its predecessor, delivering 160bhp and a massive leap in torque to 210lb per ft at 2600rpm, vastly improving pace, comfort, balance, handling, economy and reliability. Rover's only gearbox capable of handling such power was the Borg Warner Type-35 automatic. Rover now possessed a formidable sporting saloon to take on the finest from Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar. Solihull production soon doubled to keep up with orders; however the creation of British Leyland in 1968 had the long term effect of thwarting Rover’s impressive growth and image-building. A strategic decision was taken to market Jaguar, now sitting alongside Rover in the British Leyland stable, to the luxury audience. The impressive V8 engine flourished for decades afterwards within the Rover, Land Rover and Range Rover stable, as well as other marques such as TVR, Morgan and MG.Originally registered on 1st August 1969, this car was purchased by a Mr Freeman in Leicester, who ordered it in Bordeaux Red with Ebony Black leather. Mr Freeman owned and used SUT 154H sparingly from new until he passed away in 1985, whereupon his daughter had the car stored until selling it to the current owner Mr Oxley in Derbyshire in 1986. Due to an exceptional level of care, having been stored correctly and owned by Rover enthusiasts, the car has covered just 10,424 miles from new and the original factory panel work remains in extremely good order; indeed the doors shut like a new car. The car is accompanied by the original book pack, a V5C registration document, full complement of tools, old MOT’s and a current MoT test certificate valid until August 2018.Used by government ministers and royalty on a regular basis, these quintessentially British Rovers are supremely comfortable to drive with a simple and uncluttered instrument layout where virtually everything is at your finger tips. This example is a genuine time-warp example and we would doubt a more original car is available in such condition. This represents a unique opportunity for any collector and viewing is strongly recommended.]]

Ferrari 308 GTS QV Ferrari 308 GTS QV

Ferrari 308 GTS QV

Lot #137 (Sale Order 13 of 79)

The 308 GTB was launched at the Paris Motor Show in 1975, it was built alongside the 308 GT4 and designed as a replacement for the 246 Dino. Designed by Leonardo Fiorvanti, the man who styled some of the most iconic Ferrari's including the Daytona. The new 308 sported a rakish and attractive body which fused classic elements of Ferrari styling with a thoroughly modern design. For the first two years of production, the body of the 308 was produced in fibreglass after which steel was used. The 308 shared a similar tube frame chassis as the original Dino and 308GT4 with four-wheel double wishbone independent suspension. The engine was a V8 unit which was positioned behind the driver and transversely mounted with double overhead camshafts and four 40DCNF Weber carburettors, later replaced with Bosch K Jetronic mechanical fuel injection. At the 1982 Paris Motor Show, Ferrari launched the 308 Quattrovalvole, in GTB and GTS form. The main change from the 308 GTBi/GTSi it succeeded, were the four valves per cylinder which pushed output back up to 240hp restoring some of the performance lost to the emission control equipment. The interior also received some minor updates such as a satin black three spoke steering wheel with triangular centre; cloth seat centres became available as an option to the standard full leather. This left hand drive 308 GTS Quattrovalvole, presented in Rosso Corsa with Nero leather interior, has recently been the subject to having over £24,000 spent on it by marque specialists QV London and Joe Macari. This work included rebuilding the gearbox, new clutch, carrying out a full engine service including cambelts, new H/T leads and new sub frame mounts. The brakes have been fully overhauled, the radiator was removed and reconditioned and new tyres were fitted. At the same time, the under fairing and rear bumper was repaired and repainted. This 308 GTS QV is supplied with a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate which expires in April 2019 together with copies of the invoices for the recent work carried out. The GTS is the popular choice due to the Targa roof which, when removed, provides the occupants with the thrill of open top motoring at high speed whilst listening to the howl of the Ferrari V8 engine.]]

Jaguar E-Type Series I 2+2 Coupé (4.2 litre) Jaguar E-Type Series I 2+2 Coupé (4.2 litre)

Jaguar E-Type Series I 2+2 Coupé (4.2 litre)

Lot #139 (Sale Order 14 of 79)

The Jaguar E-Type was manufactured between 1961 and 1975 and its combination of good looks, high performance and competitive pricing established the marque as an icon of 1960's motoring. The Series I was introduced, initially for export only in March 1961, the cars at this time used the triple SU carburetted, 3.8 litre six cylinder XK engine from the XK150S. The 3.8 litre engine was increased to 4.2 litres in October 1964, although there was never a fixed specification for this unofficial model, the Series I½, can be recognised by glass covered headlights, small 'mouth' opening at the front, signal and tail lights above the bumpers and exhaust tips under the number plate in the rear. The 4.2 litre engine offered increased power and usability whilst retaining the same outward appearance as the earlier cars. This rare Jaguar is one of 974 right hand drive Series I 2+2 coupés ever made. This beauty from Coventry had a full body refurbishment with Andy Marshall of Mansfield in 2015 and presents stunningly in red. The original interior is in good order and shows a lovely patina. We are informed by the vendor that this E-Type runs well and sounds wonderful. This car benefits from uprated Fossway brakes with vented discs. This attractive car is presented to auction with a V5C registration certificate.]]

Durant Runabout Star Four Tourer Durant Runabout Star Four Tourer

Durant Runabout Star Four Tourer

Lot #140 (Sale Order 15 of 79)

Having been forced out of General Motors – a company he founded – William C Durant began rebuilding his automotive empire, incorporating Durant Motors in New York in January 1921. Competing with the mid-priced Chevrolet, the company's first product was the 35hp four-cylinder Model A, which was joined the following year by the 70hp six-cylinder B-22. Built in the former Sheridan plant at Muncie, Indiana and powered by an Ansted engine, the B-22 was catalogued for just three years (1922-1924) and today survivors are rare. In 1922, Durant introduced the Star, intended as competition for the Ford Model T, and later that year acquired the bankrupt Locomobile, which gained him entry into the luxury car market sector. Following the General Motors policy of offering cars in every price bracket, Durant continued to expand, introducing the Chrysler-competitor Flint in 1923 and establishing the Mason Truck Company. Like many of his contemporaries, Durant was crippled by the Wall Street Crash of October 1929. Production plummeted and despite receiving approximately $90 million of its owner's own money, Durant Motors was gone by 1933. This Durant Runabout has had an interesting life having been converted to a pick-up at some stage; she was then re-bodied into the Tourer format we see today. This right hand drive Durant has VSCC documents and is eligible for hills climbs which the vendor has used her for. These two-seaters with a Dickie seat are great cars and quite versatile, hence the popularity in using them for eligible events. We are advised by the vendor she runs well with no known faults and is supplied with a V5C registration document.  ]]

MG B Roadster MG B Roadster

MG B Roadster

Lot #147 (Sale Order 16 of 79)

Conceived in the late 1950s and launched in 1962, the MGB would turn out to be one of the most successful sports cars of all time. Attractively styled, cheap to run and easily maintained by the home mechanic, the 'B' carried on MG's traditional role of providing affordable, sports car motoring for the ordinary enthusiast. The MGB was mechanically similar to the preceding MGA, though with heavier, unitary construction bodyshell. To compensate for the newcomer's increased weight, the existing B-Series engine was stretched from 1622 to 1798cc, while the MGB's aerodynamically efficient lines made the most of the maximum available 95bhp to achieve a top speed which just topped the magic 'ton'. A 'right first time' design that changed little over the years apart from the adoption of a more robust five-main-bearing engine in 1965 (fitted from the start of GT production that autumn) a minor facelift for 1970 and the adoption of plastic bumpers (to comply with US legislation) for 1975, the 'B' enjoyed an 18-year production life and sales totalling in excess of 500,000 cars. Its popularity remaining undiminished today, the classic MGB is one of the easiest sports cars of its era to run and maintain in the 21st Century, being served by a worldwide industry of spare parts and service providers. A desirable chromed bumper model, this particular 'B' roadster has had just three owners from new; the last being a private collector who purchased the car a couple of years ago and the first owner, we are told, bought the car as a wedding anniversary gift for his wife. Subsequently consigned to barn storage, it was fully restored to mint condition by a family friend between 2007 and 2009, with further works undertaken in 2015. Finished in black with red leather trim, noteworthy features include original restored Jaeger instruments, original Bakelite steering wheel and 'bullet' wing mirrors. This MG B Roadster is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in February 2019 and sundry other restoration invoices. 'APO 677B' has covered only some 5,000 miles since restoration and is described as a pleasure to drive. The MG B represents fabulous value in today's market and enjoys excellent club support, specialist services and parts back up; a motor car just awaiting a new owner to enjoy forthcoming summers.]]

BMW Z3 M Coupé BMW Z3 M Coupé

BMW Z3 M Coupé

Lot #154 (Sale Order 17 of 79)

The M Coupé, manufactured from 1998 until 2002, was developed under the leadership of engineer Burkhard Göschel with the intention of adding increased torsional and structural rigidity to the Z3 roadster’s chassis. The development team had a hard time convincing the board of directors to approve the model for production, but it was eventually given the green light as long as it remained cost-effective to manufacture. When the director of design at BMW first saw the coupé version of the Z3, there was a long silence, not least because this was 'mocked-up' by a handful of dedicated designers during evenings and weekends. Not just a convertible with a hardtop, the entire chassis was redesigned, the roof lengthened, more power added (obviously) and finer, under the skin details, like cooling fins on the differential. The engine is the same 3.2 litre unit from an M3, offering a vast amount of horsepower per unit weight. With over 6,000 miles of testing at the Nürburgring, you can be sure the Z3 M Coupé is well tested and up to the task of shifting to 155mph and back down again equally as quickly, all within the confines of BMW's legendary build quality. This fabulously presented Z3M Coupe is presented in Black with contrasting black with red insert leather trim. Originally delivered new in 2000 this example was cared for by Performance Motors Limited in Singapore servicing twice in 2002 at 16,807 kms and in 2004 at 32,998 kms shortly before the owner decided to bring the car to the UK in late 2004. Upon arrival the car was sent to a BMW main dealer in Worcestershire to replace the instruments panel and thus providing the car with UK specification instruments. This example was then serviced by an independent Ferrari/Maserati specialist in March 2005 with 147 miles on the odometer, an approximate 22,652 miles. The new owner in 2005 was clearly an enthusiast servicing the car with BM-TEC and the maintenance record from then until now is commendable with a further nine service stamps added to the first three, with BMW specialists and main dealers included, most recent service in June of 2018 by Renaissance Cars of Ripley.Offered with an MoT valid until October 2018, Original BMW book pack including stamped service booklet, three keys and recently serviced this example has clearly been in the right hands. A fabulous driving experience combined with increasing values make the BMW Z3 M Coupé very desirable and we believe this is no exception.]]

Lamborghini DLA 35 Tractor Lamborghini DLA 35 Tractor

Lamborghini DLA 35 Tractor

Lot #159 (Sale Order 18 of 79)

Built well before the foundation of Automobili Lamborghini SpA in 1963, this DLA 35 tractor represents the heritage of Ferruccio Lamborghini's automotive empire. After serving as a mechanic in the Regia Aeronautica during World War II, Lamborghini set up a small car and motorcycle repair shop near Modena before branching out into the manufacture of tractors using surplus military hardware. By the mid 1950s Lamborghini Trattori SpA had become one of the largest agricultural equipment manufacturers in Italy, gratifying state of affairs that no doubt prompted Ferruccio Lamborghini's declaration, 'A tractor a day keeps the misery away!' This is one of an estimated 117 DLA 35 tractors built, chassis number '3030' is powered by Lamborghini's own three-cylinder engine with a displacement of 2,200 cc and a relatively potent power output of 36 bhp. The tractor has come from a large agricultural estate in Padua in northern Italy where in recent years it has been displayed in the previous owners large private collection. Finished in the correct orange and blue livery, this delightful tractor would make a distinctive and welcome addition to any significant collection of classic agricultural machinery, or a unique addition to any Lamborghini collection. It has the potential to draw crowds, especially when exhibited alongside the most beautiful supercars sharing the marque's famous 'raging bull' emblem, such as the legendary Miura and Countach. This vehicle comes with a NOVA number and will need to be registered.  ]]

Audi S2 Audi S2

Audi S2

Lot #160 (Sale Order 19 of 79)

Audi developed a sports version of the Coupé in 1990, called the Audi S2. This replaced the famous Audi Quattro and featured the well-proven 2.2-litre in-line five-cylinder 20-valve turbo petrol engine, which was derived from the engine used in the Audi Quattro. The S2 came as standard with quattro-permanent four-wheel drive system and was capable of 150 mph. The S2 was initially available with a 2.2-litre turbocharged engine which produced 217 bhp. In 1992, the engine received minor upgrades, including distributor-less ignition, which increased power output to 227 bhp. Although not a dramatic power increase, the engine now produced 350Nm of torque (up from 309Nm) and featured an over boost function that allowed up to 380Nm in short bursts. The S2 will accelerate from 62.1 mph in 5.7seconds, continuing to a top speed of 152 mph. On offer here is a very solid 1995 manual car. The vendor spent a long time looking for the right one, with so many corroded or abused cars out there. Bought because “he just always wanted one” he has now scratched the S2 itch and has decided to move the car on. He always buys his cars based on condition rather than mileage and it’s true with this one also. Whilst not perfect, it is very good structurally and mechanically, having just had a service on done which included all oils and the cambelt. The interior shows some signs of wear, but this is hardly surprising for a car of this age. The vendor reports that the car runs and drives perfectly and that it accelerates quickly embarrassing many much more modern cars. These cars are becoming rarer by the day and are surely a future classic. Supplied with its original service log book with many service stamps, V5C registration document and MoT test certificate that expires in June 2019.]]

Ford Capri by Tickford (2.8 litre) Ford Capri by Tickford (2.8 litre)

Ford Capri by Tickford (2.8 litre)

Lot #162 (Sale Order 20 of 79)

The Ford Capri was the Ford Mustang of Europe. A mind boggling array of options meant that the Capri could be whatever you wanted it to be; just like the Mustang. The Capri was released to the press on 24th January 1969 at the Brussels Motor Show and caused a sensation. For the 1982 model year, a new sporty version debuted at the Geneva Motor Show called the 2.8 Injection. Power rose to a claimed 160bhp giving a top speed of 130mph.  Tickford were coachbuilders owned by Aston Martin and in 1981, Aston Martin created an engineering service subsidiary choosing the name 'Aston Martin Tickford', rekindling the specialist service available to all vehicle makers, which had been the Tickford philosophy for the first half of the century. The Tickford Capri was a successful project with 86 vehicles being reworked by the coachbuilder; this example is number 56 from the production run. Mechanically, there are a number of changes most notably the fitting of a front mounted turbocharger, rear disc brakes were standard on the Tickford and suspension modifications like Bilstein dampers fitted together with a limited slip differential. Cosmetically the Capri was treated to a subtle bodykit and revised front grille. The extensive modifications continued with the interior. Leather surfaces were added, although the seats remained cloth (leather seats were an option). Wood was added to the dashboard and centre consol. The result of the extensive modifications by Tickford is a Capri that is quick, handles well and has the necessary braking power for such a machine. The process of converting a Capri started with transporting new car bodies from Germany and stripping them down at Tickford’s facility in England. The process was cumbersome and inefficient, which no doubt contributed to doubling the cost of the original donor car. After literally being taken apart and re-assembled (by hand), the price virtually trebled to £14,747.77  This example has been featured in the Tickford Owners Club magazine and is clearly a well cared for example. The low mileage of 41,025 is supported by a comprehensive history folder. Recently the clutch thrust bearing was replaced and as the gearbox was removed the vendor had new bearings fitted to the gearbox at the same time. Producing some 205 bhp we are advised she drives with no known faults. During our inspection, the 2792cc engine started immediately when requested and sounded delightful. Showing no signs of corrosion the bodywork is in very good order, the Diamond white paintwork virtually unblemished. The grey velour trim is in lovely condition and is best described as commensurate with age and mileage. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until November 2018 together with the original service books, bill of sale and pepperpot alloy wheels. The classic Ford market has been very buoyant of late with Capri’s being particularly sought after. With an estimated 40 Tickford Capri’s surviving these are probably the rarest and most coveted.]]

Ford Lotus Cortina Mk. I Ford Lotus Cortina Mk. I

Ford Lotus Cortina Mk. I

Lot #164 (Sale Order 21 of 79)

In 1961, Colin Chapman was commissioned by Harry Mundy to design a twin cam version of the Ford Kent engine and its first appearance was at the Nürburgring in a Lotus 23 driven by Jim Clark. Soon after, the engine appeared in the Lotus Elan. During the engine's development, Walter Hayes at Ford, asked Colin Chapman to fit the twin cam into 1,000 Ford saloons for Group 2 racing homologation. Chapman accepted the contract and the type 28, or Lotus Cortina as it became known, was born. Whilst Ford supplied the two door body shells and took care of the marketing, Lotus engineered the mechanical and cosmetic changes which included the 1558cc engine along with the Elan's close-ratio gearbox, front quarter bumpers and Lotus badges. They also made changes to the interior with a new centre console to accommodate the revised gear lever position, different seats and a later styled dashboard that incorporated a tachometer, odometer, oil pressure, water temperature and fuel gauges. A wood rimmed steering wheel was the finishing touch. Originally registered on 1st May 1966 this Lotus Cortina appears to have been well looked after. The previous registered keeper had the car under his stewardship for 23 years and in October 2007, the car featured in Classic Car Mart magazine. These highly collectable Fords are in high demand, particularly examples such as this that are on the Ford register. The engine started immediately during our inspection and had good oil pressure. We are advised by the vendor she drives as she should. Supplied with a V5C registration document and history folder this ‘Fast Ford’ will evoke great memories for men of a certain age.]]

Morris Mini Cooper ‘S’ Mk. I (1275cc)

Lot #165 (Sale Order 22 of 79)

To many, its designer Alec Issigonis included, the notion that the Mini might have a future as anything other than basic transport was anathema, and the idea of a high-performance version was laughable. One man though, saw it quite differently. Racing car manufacturer John Cooper already knew quite a bit about tuning BMC's A-Series engine, he was running the company's Formula Junior effort at the time, and a test drive in a prototype Mini convinced him of the car's competition potential. The result, launched in September 1961, was the Mini Cooper, a car that offered a size/price/performance package that was nothing short of miraculous. The Mini Cooper soon established its credentials as a rally and race winner, and the stage was set for even faster versions. The first of these, the 1,071cc Mini Cooper 'S' of 1963, took engine development a stage further and provided the basis for the 971 'S' and 1275 'S' of 1964.This original right hand drive UK supplied Morris Mini Mk. I Cooper S was built on 11th November 1965 and first dispatched on 26th January 1966 to Stewart & Arden Limited in Acton, London. Originally specified in Tartan Red with a black roof and red, gold and grey trim this is a single fuel tank example due to being pre 1966 when twin tanks were a standard fit. This example was also fitted with a heater as an extra. In 1996, Mr De Silva purchased this car and from then until 2017 he undertook a full restoration on LBL 924D, with much of the work carried out by The East Anglian Mini Centre Ltd in Ipswich. The restoration was of a very good standard and the car now presents unsurprisingly as new. Accompanying the car is a history file detailing the restoration, the original handbooks, Heritage certificate and an MoT test certificate valid until May 2019. The number plate on this example also holds some value, with works cars displaying LBL including the Monte Carlo Rally winner LBL 6D which the team retained, alongside LBL 66D and LBL 666D, for their works rally cars. It is thought a mere 345 Morris Mini Cooper S cars remain on UK roads today and with examples in this condition commanding well over £50,000, frankly, this looks like incredible value especially given its rarity and wow factor.]]

Ford Thunderbird Convertible Ford Thunderbird Convertible

Ford Thunderbird Convertible

Lot #166 (Sale Order 23 of 79)

The Ford Thunderbird (‘T-Bird’) began life in February 1953 in direct response to Chevrolet's new sports car, the Corvette, which was publicly unveiled in prototype form just a month before. Under rapid development, the Thunderbird went from drawing board to prototype in about a year, being unveiled to the public at the Detroit Auto Show on 20th February 1954. It was manufactured by Ford in the United States over eleven model generations from 1955 through to 2005. The second to fourth generation Thunderbird convertibles were similar in design to the Lincoln convertible of the time and borrowed from earlier Ford hardtop/convertible designs. While these Thunderbird models had a true convertible soft top, the top was lowered to stow in the boot area, considerably reducing available boot space when the top was down. The overall appearance was a sleek look with no trace of a convertible top at all. This 1957 Thunderbird can only be described as beautiful; a series three example which, importantly, is the last of the first model released and has the desirable porthole hardtop along with the contrasting soft top. Imported into the UK in November 2012, the car obviously saw little or no rain in its former life and has been used sparingly since its UK registration. The 5113cc, V8 engine performs well and sounds exquisite and 699 YUN is finished in gleaming white with contrasting red leather interior. Oceans of chromework and overall excellent condition make this a stunning looking T-Bird and the car is supplied to auction with a V5C registration document. Thunderbirds as good as this are hard to find, there are very few driving experiences that can compete.]]

Bentley Mk.VI Special by Padgett Bentley Mk.VI Special by Padgett

Bentley Mk.VI Special by Padgett

Lot #167 (Sale Order 24 of 79)

Padgett Motor Engineering was established in 1957 in Newbury, Berkshire by Alan Padgett. Alan was apprenticed as a motor mechanic in York during World War Two until his conscription in 1946 and served in the Royal Air Force in the Far East. By 1949 he was back in England and, having finished his apprenticeship, started working part time on motor vehicle repairs including vintage cars. In 1954, now married, he and his wife moved to Newbury, Berkshire. Alan was involved with racing Bentleys after selling his first vintage car (a 12/40 Lea Francis) and buying a 1926 Speed Model 3 Litre and from 1954 he worked part time with Tony Townshend at Whittonditch works to gain essential experience. By 1964 a newly emerged class of post-war Bentleys were well known in racing, the Mk Vl sports and racing 'special'. The Bradley Brothers were the first to take this route and must be given full credit for such foresight. Padgett’s first design, which proved to be popular, was built with a modified chassis design, moving the engine and transmission rearwards creating the traditional sporting lines of a Bentley sports car, thereby setting a trend that has survived to this day. This ever improving class of sports car paved the way for another style of Bentley to get the headlines. The Bentley R-Type Continental Sports Saloon, upgraded to Rally Specification, of which some 12 have been rebuilt, proved to be the most highly sought after Bentley of any genre. Jeremy Padgett eventually took over full control of the business in 1995 when his father retired, after 54 years as a motor engineer. This attractive two seater Bentley Mk. VI (Big Bore) Special with split screen ‘V’ windscreen and rounded tail was one of the first specials built by Alan Padgett in 1969. The previous owner purchased the special in 1976 from Harry J. Sibley, a Rolls-Royce specialist based in Cornwall and, to aid the purchase, he told his wife that the car had extra wide seating capable of accommodating two adults and two small children. The only changes made to the car were in 1977 when he had an outside handbrake and a new external stainless steel exhaust system fitted. Much later he changed the polarity to negative earth and fitted electronic ignition. This Mk. VI Special changed hands in 2016 and has been in a private collection ever since. Finished in the traditional British Racing Green with brown leather interior, this beautiful Bentley Special is supplied with a V5C registration document, copies of old registration documents going back to Alan Padgett’s ownership in 1969, a number of old MoT test certificates, the bill of sale from 1976 and items of correspondence including a letter from Padgett. Listed in Bentley Specials & Special Bentleys, this is an opportunity to purchase a very attractive and properly maintained Bentley Special which was built by one of the leading Bentley builders of the time.]]

Mercedes-Benz 190 Evolution

Lot #169 (Sale Order 25 of 79)

In 1984 Mercedes-Benz introduced the 185hp 190E 2.3-16, colloquially referred to with the name of the company that honed its four cylinder powerplant, Cosworth. The aim was to compete with BMW’s M3 in the Deutche Tourenwagen Masters. To help this the 16 valve cars were different from the other 190 models. The body kit reduced the drag coefficient to 0.32 and the steering ratio was quicker, though in production form the car is best known for the driver who won a publicity race at the new Nurburgring Grand Prix circuit, a young Ayrton Senna. This attractive Blue-Black Mercedes-Benz 190 was registered in February 1998. The current vendor has owned this German powerplant for the last 18 years. The vehicle is presented with bills and receipts for servicing, and recent paperwork for new tyres and a major service. Interested parties should note that in December of 1999 this 190 was recorded as a Category C insurance loss. The vendor tells us that he has driven the car about 40,000 miles during his ownership and at one time this was his daily drive.]]

Aston Martin V8 Banham Convertible Aston Martin V8 Banham Convertible

Aston Martin V8 Banham Convertible

Lot #171 (Sale Order 26 of 79)

The six-cylinder styled DBS had been around for a couple of years awaiting a V8 engine that had been especially designed for it. In early 1970, the DBS V8 was finally ready to become one of the fastest cars available at the time. The 5.3 litre engine was able to develop 320 bhp which gave it the ability to reach 160 mph. From April 1972, the DBS V8 received a restyle and a new name. The 'DB' was dropped as David Brown had sold the company and the car became known simply as the 'Aston Martin V8'.With the demise of the DB6 Mk. II Volante in 1970, Aston Martin were not able to offer a convertible motorcar until 1977 with the introduction of the V8 Volante. This presented a niche in the market; there are always wealthy customers with a desire for something unique and unusual. Paul Banham and his company, Banham Conversions (Banmoco) became well known for his cabriolet conversions on Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce, Ferrari, Daimler and Jaguar cars. The company was perhaps most noted for their stylish conversion on the Jaguar XJ-S. Sadly the company went out of business in 2004. This Aston Martin V8 Convertible was purchased by the vendor in September 2002 with 67,286 miles on the odometer. The car had some service history with various invoices and had several owners, with the previous owner having bought the car just a year earlier. The car had apparently been in storage for six years prior to his purchase. The car was originally built in March 1973 as a coupé in Cornish Gold and was converted by Paul Banham in 1980 and repainted in the current colour Storm Red. In 2005, it underwent a full chassis and mechanical restoration with Aston Martin specialist Trinity Engineering, which was completed in May 2006. This included engine overhaul, new automatic transmission, complete suspension rebuild with new bushes, brake overhaul, electrical overhaul and complete chassis overhaul with many new sections including sills. The interior was also re-connolised. In short, everything was done to bring the car to mechanical and structural excellence, all at a cost of over £35,000. Over the next few years, further work was carried out by Trinity Engineering including, in 2007, a new alternator, speedo drive, viscous fan, stainless exhaust silencers, driving lamps and interior cubby box fitted. In 2008, the fuel pumps were rebuilt. The following year, all the interior vinyl trim was replaced with black leather and new carpets fitted. In 2011, the roof frame was overhauled and repaired; it also had structural repairs to a post and windscreen pillars and a new windscreen and seal fitted. The car was little used from 2012 onwards and from 2015 it was kept in a dry garage. In March 2018, the car had a complete major overhaul with Trinity again to bring the car back to mechanical excellence; this included work on the engine, transmission, electrical system, suspension, brakes, chassis repairs, wheels refurbished and new turbo speed tyres fitted; all at a cost of over £27,000. The car’s bodywork has always been excellent and this Aston Martin has been maintained as necessary by Trinity Engineering and a local classic car bodyshop near to the home of the vendor. This V8 Convertible is supplied with a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate which expires in April 2019.]]

Chevrolet Corvette C1 Chevrolet Corvette C1

Chevrolet Corvette C1

Lot #172 (Sale Order 27 of 79)

The legendary North American motor-car designer, Harley J. Earl, convinced GM that they needed to build a two-seat sports car after seeing the offerings from Jaguar, MG and Alfa Romeo landing in the USA from Europe; many being repatriated by GIs returning from the Second World War. In 1951, Earl and his Special Projects crew began working on a new car, which was code named 'Opel'. The result was the 1953 Corvette, unveiled to the public at that year's Motorama car show. Taking its name from a small, maneuverable fighting frigate called a Corvette, the first Corvettes were virtually hand built in Flint, Michigan in Chevrolet's Customer Delivery Centre. The outer body was made from, what was then, a revolutionary new composite material called fibreglass; selected in part because of limited steel quotas left over from the Korean War. Underneath that radical new body were standard Chevrolet components, including the 'Blue Flame' inline six-cylinder truck engine, two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission and drum brakes.  We are delighted to offer this stunning 1954 Corvette finished in the classic combination of Polo White with Al Knoch Sportsman red interior. This Corvette, model designation 2934, is fitted with the correct specification of the ‘Blue Flame’ engine with three single-barrel Carter side-draft carburettors attached to an effortless ‘Powerglide’ automatic transmission. The chassis/VIN number E54S004574 may be broken down to identify the following; the E denoting that this is an early 6-cylinder engined Corvette, 54 denoting 1954 as the year of manufacture, the S denoting the final assembly plant at St. Louis and the final numbers, 003647, denoting the production number. The coachwork finish, chrome and interior are all described by the owner as in excellent quality and the car comes complete with original spare wheel and jack with side screens.  The interior is in a condition commensurate with the rest of this stunning C1 and we are informed all the gauges work correctly. A set of whitewall tyres have recently been fitted. Supplied with a V5C registration document together with a current MoT test certificate, this Corvette is a superb example and one that should be viewed to ascertain the quality.]]

Morris Mini Cooper 'S' Mk. II Morris Mini Cooper 'S' Mk. II

Morris Mini Cooper 'S' Mk. II

Lot #174 (Sale Order 28 of 79)

Designed by Alex Issigonis in 1959, a new concept in car design was born. With a monocoque shell, transversely mounted engine and front wheel drive, the new 'Mini', soon became popular across a broad spectrum of the population. The potential for competition use was soon seen by John Cooper; and once he had persuaded BMC the two worked together culminating in the birth of the Austin Mini Cooper and the Morris Mini Cooper in 1961. Victories in the 1964, 1965 and 1967 Monte Carlo Rallies set the Mini on the road to fame but probably the greatest publicity was gained from their, somewhat unfair, disqualification for lighting irregularities in the 1966 event after coming in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. A more powerful Mini Cooper, dubbed the 'S', was then developed in tandem and released in 1963 and Cooper S variants are still made to this day under the BMW flag. Approximately 2,500 Mk. II Cooper S models were built making it one of the rarest versions of this very collectible motor car. This Mk.II Cooper S 1275cc example was a feature car in 2004's Mini Magazine whilst in the tenure of the owner who lovingly restored this car between 2000 and 2004. Originally registered in October 1968 the car is presented in Sandy Beige over Snowberry White with a Webasto sunroof; one of only 11 Mk.II's on the Cooper register in this colour combination. We are informed that all modifications were made within the first 18 months and are led to believe by coachbuilders Radford, this included a Radford dashboard which sadly had to be replaced. Unfortunately no invoices exist to confirm the Radford link but a buff log book can be found within the history file detailing the car was originally registered as a Radford De Ville from new. We are also informed the hydrolastic suspension has been replaced by Hi-Lo adjustable shock absorbers and an old sales listing suggests that the engine was 'breathed on' by Downton. The engine itself has been bored and honed to 1330cc with twin SU carburettors and a modified cylinder head to name just a few enhancements; all of which helped to achieve a rolling road tune by Peter Baldwin, Wiltshire in 2012 of 98bhp.Full details of the engine and the car itself can be found in the history file which includes information from previous owners and also contains the article from Mini Magazine. This is a rare car with a cherished number plate and is well known to the Mini Register and Owners Clubs alike. Viewing is strongly recommended.]]

Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet by Karmann Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet by Karmann

Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet by Karmann

Lot #176 (Sale Order 29 of 79)

One of the 20th century's most iconic automobiles, the Volkswagen 'Beetle' transcended its origins as the German 'People's Car,' going on to become an all time best seller and cult classic. Originally conceived by Dr. Ferdinand Porsche, the Volkswagen inspired great loyalty and enthusiasm based on its practicality, reliability, adaptability and affordability. The Beetle was simple to build with an air cooled engine eliminating the whole water cooling system of pumps, pipes, hoses and radiators as well as reducing the risk of freezing in cold northern winters. It was in 1948 that Wilhelm Karmann first bought a VW Beetle sedan and converted it into a four-seater convertible. The Beetle Cabriolet began production in 1949 by Karmann in Osnabrück, after being successfully presented at VW in Wolfsburg. The Cabriolet was more than a Beetle with a folding top. To compensate for the strength lost in removing the roof; sills were reinforced with welded U-channel rails, a transverse beam was fitted below the front edge of the rear seat cushion, and the side cowl panels below the instrument panel were double wall. In addition, the lower corners of the door apertures had welded in curved gussets. The doors had secondary alignment wedges at the B-pillar, all in all producing a rigid chassis for the little convertible. This 1958 original right hand drive example is in lovely condition and presented in gleaming white with a contrasting burgundy hood. This Beetle has undergone a full restoration at the hands of the current vendor who purchased the car in 2011. The bare metal restoration included new sills, floor pans and heater channels, together with new wiring throughout. The vendor's dream was to enjoy this car on lazy summer days driving to the coast with the family. He confirms that the car ‘drives brilliantly’ and is rust free having been wax oiled at the time of restoration. This Beetle Cabriolet boasts the uprated 1641cc engine which enables the driver to comfortably keep up with modern day traffic, compared to the 1200cc original engine. Accompanying the car is an excellent history file including photos of the restoration process. Early examples of the right hand drive Karmann Beetle convertible are rare and in its current condition, this is an extremely desirable example which is aching to be loved and enjoyed for many years to come.]]

Ford Sierra RS Cosworth Ford Sierra RS Cosworth

Ford Sierra RS Cosworth

Lot #177 (Sale Order 30 of 79)

The sight of rival manufacturers reaping the rewards of a successful circuit racing programme prompted Ford to renew its alliance with engine builder, Cosworth, to create the Sierra. Assembly of the minimum 5,000 units required for Group A homologation commenced in June 1986 at the company's Genk plant in Belgium. Based on the three door Sierra bodyshell, the RS Cosworth combined the standard 1,993cc Pinto engine's cylinder block with a forged steel crankshaft and connecting rods, the first time the latter combination had been seen in a production Ford engine. Topping it off was a Cosworth developed, twin camshaft, 16 valve cylinder head fed by a Garrett AiResearch turbocharger, the latter being deemed necessary to achieve a competitive power output for racing, which in time would amount to over 500bhp! Even in standard road trim, the Sierra RS Cosworth produced a staggering 204bhp, its Weber-Marelli engine management system ensuring that the resulting stupendous performance was delivered with minimal turbo-lag. Needless to say, the standard Sierra underpinnings were comprehensively uprated to cope. 6,021 examples had been completed when production ceased in 1992, and today the model is highly sought after. With, remarkably, just one owner from new, this example of Ford’s flagship Sierra, the RS Cosworth, is offered in black coachwork and original grey Ford trim and is accompanied by a comprehensive 30 year service history. Originally purchased and registered on 23rd April 1987, this example has been serviced by our vendor’s local garage, Byfleet Ford, every year since new. All receipts and invoices are included in the history file together with the original order form, MoT valid until July 2019 and UK V5C registration document. The car also boasts all original stereo and seat covers. This is a Ford enthusiast’s dream; the car may not have been restored to concours standard and the mileage may not be sub 100,000, but few or no Cosworths can boast such comprehensive history from just one owner and, as such, we believe this is an incredibly collectable example.]]

Lotus Esprit Series I

Lot #183 (Sale Order 31 of 79)

First shown as a prototype on a modified Europa chassis at the 1972 Turin show, the Esprit was launched at the 1975 Paris Motor Show. It went into production in June 1976, replacing the Europa in the model line up. Lotus focused on the engineering, but the styling was given to Giorgio Giugiaro and his then new Italdesign studio. Giugiaro suggested the name Esprit, which remained on the production car. Power was supplied by an all new 160 horsepower all alloy Lotus, 2.0 litre, twin-cam, four-cylinder, mid-mounted engine. The S1 is easily distinguished from the second series car by its shovel style front air dam, lack of rear quarter ducting, and Wolfrace alloy wheels. Inside, the unique green faced Veglia gauges also set it apart from its young brother. The Series I Esprit gained fame through its appearance in the 1977 James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me.Presented in white with contrasting black leather, an iconic combination for the S1, this is one of less than 270 cars produced globally and one of just 50 registered in the UK. A right hand drive matching numbers Esprit that was originally used by Station Garage Taplow as a demonstrator model. Its second owner, Mr Caesari, purchased it with only 2,500 miles on the odometer, due to the deterioration of the factory cellulose finish, it was returned to Lotus for a full repaint under warranty. Mr Caesari used the car extensively and regularly serviced the car. The body, chassis, gearbox, steering, and suspension remain all original, and the car has no known accident damage. The car was sold to Mr Simon House in 2004, passing through three more owners including a Lotus specialist, until it was most recently purchased by media mogul and car collector Chris Evans. MoT certificates dating back 30 years, original bill of sale, along with the original owner’s manuals remain with the car. The history file is very impressive, with bills for service work and maintenance dating back to 1981. Recently the car has been treated to a full ‘C’ cambelt service including carburettor tune, consumables and road test by the renowned Esprit Engineering (Lotus Heritage service and repair centre). This is coupled to an MoT test certificate until March 2019 with no advisories This car is excellent and has been cherished inside and out. With Esprit's slowly climbing in value, just try and find an iconic white matching numbers Series I for sale under £70,000! BMW 635 CSi BMW 635 CSi

BMW 635 CSi

Lot #184 (Sale Order 32 of 79)

Karmann manufactured the early 6-Series BMW's from launch in 1976 before BMW took production in house. The most significant technological upgrade on the E24 range took place in 1982 where after all models were constructed upon the more advanced E28 chassis right through until production ceased in 1989. This 1989 635CSi has the pure elegant lines associated with the earlier cars which accentuate the 'shark-nose' design in the absence of the front skirts and the other exterior evolutions which came with the later generations. At the same time, this model enjoys all of the benefits associated with construction on what was then the brand new E28 platform. This excellent, original 1987 BMW 635CSi is finished in the BMW classic colour scheme of Alpine White with Cardinal Red leather interior and is one of the last of the chrome bumper models. This lovely BMW 635CSi is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in April 2019, a good history file and comes complete with all its tools and handbooks. With the iconic predecessor 'E9' shaped examples now being highly coveted within collections around the world, the successor (E24) cars are coming into good favour and prices for well cared for examples are beginning to show some promise of following a similar trajectory to the earlier cars. A handsome, safe and engaging modern classic which would provide stylish and reliable everyday use or equally be at home in a collection for occasional use and classic car shows.]]

Volkswagen Beetle Volkswagen Beetle

Volkswagen Beetle

Lot #185 (Sale Order 33 of 79)

There are few cars as iconic as the Volkswagen Beetle. It is a car that occupies a significant position in motoring history. The Beetle holds a record that any car company would be proud of, it is the longest running and most manufactured car of a single design platform anywhere in the world. Quite an automotive feat for this air cooled, rear engine and rear wheel driven car. This attractive one owner Beetle is presented in Marathon Blue with a grey cloth interior. The vendor has expressed to us the excitement of buying his first brand new car. He would have been surprised in 1975 to know that the car, his pride and joy, would still be in his possession 43 years later! Accompanying the car is a substantial history file containing receipts for all expenditure on this Beetle, it also contains the two original instruction manuals and a V5C registration certificate. The vendor informs us that the odometer stopped working in 1988 at 42,531 miles, as evidenced on the MoT test certificates. A new odometer was fitted by Brooks Restoration and Coachworks during a back to metal respray in 1991 and during the three year gap the vendor estimates 10,000 miles of use. As a practical classic the new owner could use this Beetle on a regular basis or for showing at club meetings.]]

Mercedes-Benz SL 380

Lot #186 (Sale Order 34 of 79)

Introduced in early 1971, this impressive two-seater sports car replaced the 280 SL; the body and chassis of the 3rd generation SL considerably heavier and longer than its predecessor but still showing a slight resemblance. The standard transmission provided a top speed of 130mph and a very respectable 0-62mph in 8.8 seconds. As with the previous generation SLs, the vehicle came as an open roadster with removable hardtop roof. The R107 body shape went on to become one of the longest running styles from Mercedes-Benz, remaining in production until 1989 with some 13 variants during the production run. This very attractive 380 SL has only had three owners and presents extremely well in the classic colour combination of gold with a brown a checked interior. This low mileage example has a large file of bills, receipts and previous MoT’s, accompanied by a service book showing 16 service stamps. Clearly a good example of these very popular vehicles, this beautiful roadster is offered with a nice history, a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until February 2019.]]

Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider

Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider

Lot #191 (Sale Order 35 of 79)

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta was introduced in 1954 in coupé form and was the first truly mass produced Alfa Romeo. It was also a return to elegance rather than the utilitarian looks of the earlier models. April 1955 saw the introduction of the Berlina (saloon) and later in the summer of that year, the beautiful and almost ageless Spider saw the light of day. All of the Giulietta models (750 series 1954 - 1959) were driven by the all alloy, twin overhead camshaft engine with gearing via a four-speed, all synchromesh gearbox. Importantly; the Giulietta is known for its reliability and durability with parts and services being readily available from many specialists throughout the UK and Europe. We are delighted to offer this Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider which, according to the Alfa Romeo Historic Archive in Arese, Milan, was manufactured on 19th November 1957 with the original body colour of white, and was sold on 21st March 1958 in Melegnano, Milan. The engine bay is finished in black and gives away the original colour in places. Mechanically, the original 1290cc engine has been replaced with a later 1290cc Berlina block (a common change in period) mated to the standard four-speed gearbox. An early, rare and sought after cylinder head is fitted and fuelled via twin DCO3 sand cast Weber carburettors. As the historic racing fraternity knows, these carburettors are in very high demand if a set can be found. The engine is also of interest in that it has an early cylinder head with the fuel pump located and driven off the exhaust camshaft. The chrome work does require some renovation and the wheels look original and untouched. The interior is in good condition and the hood, on removing it from its stowage, operates correctly and is in good order. A large history file accompanies this Giulietta and includes early Giulietta Register club magazines, many magazine articles and cuttings with road test reports from Autocar, Motor and Road and Track and an original Alfa Romeo spare parts catalogue. A large quantity of invoices and notes from its early days in the UK also give a fascinating insight into the car, including records from the well known Alfa Romeo racing driver of the period, John Dooley of Brookside Garage. The Giulietta's V5 records the car as having first been registered in October 1996, and in fact the car has been in long-term ownership since then. However a sales invoice from 6th December 1974 suggests the car has been in the UK since 1974; as does a letter from Alfa Romeo (Great Britain) Ltd. dated 21st June 1976, stating that the car is to Spider Veloce configuration. The present owner has had the fuel pump replaced with an electric one, new pistons and there is a workshop manual included with documents. Seatbelts have been fitted making it safer to use on the roads but they are attached via a removable clip, so they can be removed if one prefers in keeping with its originality. Also, to note, the car has more recent Giulietta register information and as the present owner is a member, it is listed. There are a brand new set of tyres on the front and some spares are included with the car including a head gasket. This is one of the prettiest of all Alfa Romeos and Giulietta Spiders and as such very sought after and hard to find in right hand drive format.  ]]

Ford Lotus Cortina Mk. I Ford Lotus Cortina Mk. I

Ford Lotus Cortina Mk. I

Lot #193 (Sale Order 36 of 79)

In 1961, Colin Chapman was commissioned by Harry Mundy to design a twin cam version of the Ford Kent engine and its first appearance was at the Nürburgring in a Lotus 23 driven by Jim Clark. Soon after, the engine appeared in the Lotus Elan. During the engine's development, Walter Hayes at Ford asked Colin Chapman to fit the twin cam into 1,000 Ford saloons for Group Two racing homologation. Chapman accepted the contract and the type 28, or Lotus Cortina as it became known, was born. Whilst Ford supplied the two door body shells and took care of the marketing, Lotus engineered the mechanical and cosmetic changes which included the 1,558cc engine along with the Elan's close-ratio gearbox, front quarter bumpers and Lotus badges. This stunning example has been comprehensively and sympathetically upgraded to a ‘fast road’ specification. During the 80’s the car was substantially remanufactured using a new bodyshell but retaining its distinctive Lotus components. The engine was rebuilt by noted specialists Twincam Techniques and engineered to accept the larger 45 DHLA Dellorto carburettors. Equipped with oversize valves, competition valve springs and Burton hi-lift camshafts, we are informed this car develops in excess of 140 bhp. Further enhancements include new carpets, headlining and door trim panels. A comprehensive document book accompanies the car and containing the full ownership history, FIA paperwork and invoices from the rebuild. This Lotus Cortina is presented in fantastic condition, we are informed she runs and handles well and is ready for road or track use.]]

Jaguar D –Type by Realm

Lot #194 (Sale Order 37 of 79)

Built in 2007 using a Realm Engineering kit, this fine D-Type Replica was professionally constructed by the owner of a classic restoration shop in Germany over a period of three years. It has a rebuilt 3.4 litre XK block with a big valve cylinder head, triple Webber carburettors, D-Type cams, forged pistons, 9:1 compression ratio and a lightened and balanced crankshaft and flywheel. This is driven through a four speed gearbox and Jaguar XJ independent rear suspension, the front suspension being wishbones. The glass fibre body is lightweight and so the performance is quite lively and the handling good due to an excellent set up. Generally the car drives really well with plenty of room in the cabin and would easily suit a taller driver. This is a well built car in very presentable condition that has only covered 1,205 miles since completion. Currently German road registered with ‘H’ historic registration documents, the car bears the identity of a 1966 right hand drive E-Type Series I 2+2 and has Jaguar D-Type listed in the registration papers. The car can be supplied with UK registration documents if required, and is also supplied with a history file and photos of the build. A nostalgic drive to say the least with plenty of performance to match.  ]]

Jensen 541 Deluxe Jensen 541 Deluxe

Jensen 541 Deluxe

Lot #195 (Sale Order 38 of 79)

At the start of the 1950’s, Jensen had a sound commercial vehicle business providing bread and butter income and an exclusive car business making expensive Interceptor touring cars. The bodywork was mostly aluminium but as an experiment, Jensen had started making the large boot lids in a revolutionary material formed from hair-thin glass embedded in a resinous gel; glass fibre. The body was designed by Eric Neale in conjunction with Richard Jensen. First, he created the distinctive ‘mouth’ shape and the rest of the body flowed back from that point. A lattice of wooden body formers provided a reference over which skilled craftsmen beat a skin of aluminium. The finished car was exhibited at the 1953 Motor Show but there was one trick left up Jensen’s sleeve; production cars were to be constructed of glass fibre. The first few production cars are just known as the 541. As production increased, the options available increased, and a package incorporating the best extras was applied to the car marketed as the ‘541 Deluxe’. This Jensen was first registered on 6th November 1958 to Triplex Ltd in Wolverhampton. Subject to a restoration project a few years ago, this 541 presents in good order and we are advised she drives very well, even the overdrive unit on the gearbox operates correctly. This deluxe model is one of only 53 manufactured by Jensen and was one of their first cars to receive disc brakes all round. Finished in Imperial Crimson with beige leather trim, this Jensen is supplied with a V5C registration document together with a history folder with invoices dating back to 1992 and a copy of the original build sheets. These iconic stylish Jensen’s represent excellent value in the world of classic cars.]]

Jaguar E-Type Series III 2 + 2 Coupé Jaguar E-Type Series III 2 + 2 Coupé

Jaguar E-Type Series III 2 + 2 Coupé

Lot #196 (Sale Order 39 of 79)

The Jaguar E-Type was ten years old and needed a new lease of life. History repeated itself and it was a huge success when Jaguar debuted its robust V12 engine in a sports car instead of the saloon for which it was designed. Despite its sports car heritage, Jaguar depended on saloon vehicles for its survival and had developed the twelve-cylinder engine to power them with sufficient torque and refinement. Larger and softer in nature with weight redistributed 53/47, the Series III had lost the wilds of its youth but gained the long-legged touring profile to which it was arguably better suited. Robert Bell in Motor was quoted as saying at the time that "all we expected to try was a new engine, but what in fact we drove was a new car. Not a yowling, aggressive Ferrari like machine with which, perhaps, most people associate a V12 engine, but a very smooth, quiet and refined grand touring sports car". This original, matching numbers, left hand drive 1972 Jaguar E-Type Series III Coupé, fitted with the automatic gearbox option and air conditioning was supplied new to the USA. Imported to the UK from Ohio within the last couple of years, it has been fully recommissioned. This included a full service, a full brake overhaul including new discs and hoses, a new steering rack, the rear axle removed and new suspension bushes, a complete set of cooling hoses was fitted using wrapped silicone. This E-Type V12 Coupé has the original British Racing Green paintwork and black leather interior and is supplied with a V5C registration document and a MoT test certificate which expires in December 2018. We are informed by the vendor that it drives extremely well. These models have become sought after as a practical classic in which you can even take your children for a drive being the 2+2 Coupé.]]

Mercedes-Benz 230 SL Pagoda

Lot #197 (Sale Order 40 of 79)

The Mercedes-Benz W113 roadsters, designed by Paul Bracq, were produced from 1963 through to 1971 with their distinctive 'pagoda' hardtop roof giving them their contemporary nick-name. All models feature an inline six-cylinder engine with multi-port fuel injection using a mechanical pump system adapted from the diesel engine. All are rear-wheel drive and are equipped with independent rear suspension, a feature that greatly improved road handling. It made its debut at the prestigious Geneva Motor Show in March 1963 where Technical Director Fritz Nallinger introduced it as follows, "It was our aim to create a very safe and fast sports car with high performance which, despite its sports characteristics, provides a high degree of travelling comfort." Mercedes-Benz Chief Engineer Rudolf Uhlenhaut, who was as competent behind the wheel as most racing drivers, demonstrated the capabilities of the 230 SL on a tight short race track near Montreux in 1963 where he put up a best lap time of 47.5 seconds and, incidentally, out-performed Mike Parkes in his Ferrari 250GT. We are delighted to present this fine 1966 example of the marque. Originally supplied to the USA, this 230 SL was imported into the UK in 2016 and has recorded a warranted 22,298 miles. Presented in Signal Red with a contrasting tan leather interior, this SL looks very smart with excellent panel gaps and benefits from a cosmetic and mechanical restoration in the USA during 2015.  It is understood that a lady in Dallas was the first owner who then sold the car to a private collector about three years ago before it was acquired and imported into the UK by the current owner. This Mercedes-Benz comes with air conditioning and the all important Pagoda hardtop. Supplied with a V5C registration document together with a current MoT test certificate this 230 SL is in splendid order throughout.]]

Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Roadster

Lot #198 (Sale Order 41 of 79)

The Mercedes-Benz 190 SL is a two-door grand touring convertible with a removable hardtop that was produced between May 1955 and February 1963 with a prototype first shown at the 1954 New York Motor Show. It was sold alongside the faster, more expensive Mercedes-Benz 300 SL which it closely resembled both in its styling, engineering, detailing and fully independent suspension. However, the 190 SL did not use the 300 SL's purpose-built tubular space frame W198 platform but was built on a shortened monocoque R121 unit. The 190 SL was powered by a new 1.9 litre straight-four SOHC engine that developed 104bhp and was later also used in the W120, 180 and W121, 190 models. The four-cylinder engine block of the 190 SL was based on the six- cylinder engine of the 300 SL.  This Mercedes-Benz 190 SL was manufactured in 1960 and first registered in the UK on 20th June 1967. Having been stored in a barn in Spain for 20 years, she is in need of restoration although we are advised the engine turns over. This left hand drive example is finished in cream with red interior and is accompanied by a history folder. These stylish 60s sportscars are revered wherever they are seen.]]

Ford Escort Mexico Mk.I Ford Escort Mexico Mk.I

Ford Escort Mexico Mk.I

Lot #199 (Sale Order 42 of 79)

Ford’s frontline rally-car for more than a decade, the Escort proved capable of winning at World Championship level from 1968 to 1981. The Lotus twin-cam engine was the favoured power unit until 1971 when the 16-valve Cosworth BDA took over, while the factory also developed derivatives using the overhead camshaft Pinto and pushrod Kent engine. The latter was used only in the Escort 1850GT, which was developed specifically for the Daily Mirror World Cup Rally of 1970, the Kent engine being considered more reliable than the alternatives. The World Cup Rally finished in Mexico City, thus giving its name to the Escort ‘Mexico’ road car, and was the only event in which the 1850GT participated. It turned out to be a most rewarding venture for Ford as the works Escorts dominated, finishing 1st, 3rd, 5th, 6th and 8th. This Escort was built in May 1972 and first registered ‘RWC 483K’ as a Mexico by the Ford Motor Company, Warley, although the bodyshell is a Type 49 Twin-Cam to export specification (left hand drive, battery under bonnet, opening quarter lights). Painted Sunset Red, it was first used in Sweden as a ‘PR’ car and is pictured in advertising literature of the time. Returned to Ford’s Advanced Vehicles Operation (AVO), the Mexico was used as an experimental vehicle by the engineers before being strengthened and prepared as a back-up ‘recce’ car for the 1973 East Africa Safari Rally. At this time, it had a 1,840cc cross-flow Kent engine installed, while a BDA is known to have been installed at some time. The entire Ford works cars retired from that year’s Safari Rally and out of six red-finished back-up cars only two returned. Back at AVO, the cars were scheduled for decommissioning but company employee John Aedy was permitted to buy ‘RWC 483K’, together with an RS2000 bodyshell, provided that the car was returned to standard Mexico specification. The original 1,600cc cross-flow engine was refitted and the car converted to right hand drive, after which Mr Aedy installed the seats from the RS ’shell and used the Mexico as his daily drive for many years. The Mexico left the Aedy family’s ownership in 1988.   The penultimate owner purchased the car in 1998 and soon after purchase, this unique car was recognised for what it was and a seven-year rebuild commenced with assistance from John Aedy, who provided a number of useful spares. ‘RWC 483K’ was MoT’d and back on the road in April 2005 and since then has been featured in Classic Cars and Classic Ford magazines. At the end of that year, the engine was sent to CTM Performance in Dagenham where it was rebuilt, retaining the original block and enlarged to 1,760cc. Unleaded compatible, it breathes via twin Weber 40DCOE carburettors and produces around 150bhp. Copies of the aforementioned magazine articles listing this car’s most impressive build specification (too lengthy to include here) are available on request. Since completion ‘RWC 483K’ has been shown and won trophies at various classic vehicle shows. At the Classic Ford Show in 2006, the Mexico was signed by Tony Mason, Roger Clark’s co-driver on the ’73 Safari, who recalled driving ‘RWC 483K’ from Dar Es Salaam to Nairobi at night. Ex-AVO men Mick Jones and Bill Meade added their signatures at the AVO National Day in 2007. Presented in superb condition throughout, the car is offered with restoration invoices and a V5C registration document. Ex-works Fords are among the most sought after competition cars around, and although ‘RWC 483K’ has no in-period rallying history, it nevertheless represents a rare opportunity to acquire a genuine AVO-built example that, unusually, retains both its original bodyshell and engine.  Photographs courtesy of Luke Papworth of Hampshire Photography]]

Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster ‘Flat Floor’ Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster ‘Flat Floor’

Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster ‘Flat Floor’

Lot #200 (Sale Order 43 of 79)

Introduced in 3.8 litre form in 1961, the Jaguar E-Type caused a sensation when it appeared with instantly classic lines and 150mph top speed. While, inevitably, the car's stupendous straight-line performance and gorgeous looks grabbed the headlines, there was a lot more to the E-Type beneath the skin. The newcomer's design owed much to that of the racing D-Type and, indeed, the E-Type would be one of the last great sports cars developed directly from a successful competition ancestor. Just as in the D-Type, a monocoque tub formed the main body/chassis structure while a tubular space frame extended forwards to support the engine. The latter was the same 3.8-litre, triple-carburettor, 'S' unit first offered as an option on the preceding XK150. With a claimed 265 horsepower on tap, the E-Type's performance did not disappoint. Firstly, because it weighed around 500lb less than the XK150 and secondly, because aerodynamicist Malcolm Sayer used experience gained with the D-Type to create one of the most elegant and efficient shapes ever to grace a motor car. Originally despatched from Jaguar Cars on 5th December 1961 to their dealer in New York, this ‘Flat Floor’ E-Type was repatriated to the UK and registered on 1st November 1989. It appears she was restored in the late 1980s and at that time, had a colour change from the original Opalescent Silver Blue to the current colour of red and black interior. Now in right hand drive format, we are advised by the vendor she appears to be a quite sound example and runs well, although she has been used very little over the last few years and would benefit from some time and financial investment. Early Series I E-Types continue to attract commanding prices and this Jaguar appears to be attractively estimate given the fact she is a 1961 ‘Flat Floor’ example. Audi RS2 Audi RS2

Audi RS2

Lot #203 (Sale Order 44 of 79)

Collaboratively designed as a joint venture between Audi and Porsche and built on Audi's 80 Avant, the RS2 was Audi's first 'RS' vehicle and the first of their high-performance Avants (estates), using the most powerful and most thoroughly developed version of Audi's inline five cylinder turbocharged engine. Since its release, the RS2 has amassed an impressive cult following worldwide and is often regarded as being the vehicle that firmly established Audi as a producer of practical high-performance vehicles twinned with their permanent four-wheel drive Quattro drive train. All RS cars are usually produced in limited numbers and pioneer some of Audi's latest and most advanced technology and engineering prowess, therefore, 'RS' cars could be described as halo cars. Only 180 righthand drive cars were ever built for the UK, New Zealand and South African markets making this a very rare car. With 311bhp available, the RS2 could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds and achieve a maximum speed of 162 mph. In a 1995 road test, British car magazine Autocar timed the RS2 from 0 to 30mph at just 1.5 seconds, which they confirmed was faster than both the McLaren F1 road car and also Jacques Villeneuve's Formula One car of that time. Even by more modern standards its performance is exceptional. This well presented example, in iconic Nogaro blue with black leather and blue alcantara inserts along with carbon trim panels belies its mileage. The original “mega-estate”, this example is completely original and has been fantastically cared for throughout its life. Recently serviced including a new cambelt, the vendor reports that it runs and drives beautifully. The condition is impressive with little sign of wear on the seats or steering wheel. Being just 1 of just 79 righthand drive RS2's registered on UK roads today this offers a unique opportunity to not only attain an appreciating future classic, but also a car that offers Porsche 911 speed with Audi Avant levels of luxury and practicality. Assembled by Porsche at the same plant they produced the legendary 959, the RS2 is an impressive joint venture. With a 6 speed manual gearbox, Brembo brakes and Porsche cup alloy wheels you’d expect from a Porsche, but with luxuries such as air-conditioning Recaro seats and 4-wheel drive you’d expect from Audi, the RS2 was a true masterpiece of co-development. The car is supplied with a service log book with 23 stamps, V5C registration document, MoT test certificate that expires in April 2019, and many receipts.  ]]

Renault 5 Turbo 1 Renault 5 Turbo 1

Renault 5 Turbo 1

Lot #205 (Sale Order 46 of 79)

In 1980, seven years after winning the World Rally Championship, Renault introduced the new R5 Turbo as a pure homologation special to enable them to compete in Group 3 and 4 racing and international rally competition. The R5 was based on the production Renault 5 Alpine hatchback, but to meet the demands of its intended mission, Renault engineers scrapped the standard 5’s front-engine, front wheel drive layout in favour of a mid-engine, rear-drive layout that positioned the engine and gearbox longitudinally behind the front seats. The rest of the basic platform remained, but the R5 Turbo’s chassis was strengthened at the rear to cope with the increased loads introduced by the new mid-engine layout. Renault’s initial plan was to build 400 production examples, the minimum needed for homologation purposes, but when the car was introduced at the 1980 Brussels Motor Show, interest in the road going version took Renault by surprise. Huge demand prompted the company to put the car into limited production at its Alpine factory in Dieppe in France and in three years, the factory produced 1,820 R5 Turbos, but fewer than 600 of these were the first series R5s which today are the most desirable. To further exploit the popularity of the R5 Turbo, the car maker introduced a revised, lower-cost version called the R5 Turbo 2 for the 1983 model year. While original Turbo models used lighter aluminium components for the roof, doors and hatch, as well as a unique interior trim including seats dashboard and instrumentation, the Turbo 2 relied on the Renault 5?s steel body pieces as well as most of its stock interior components. This Renault 5 Turbo 1was manufactured in 1981 and imported into the UK in 1987. The vendor is a strong Renault enthusiast and has owned this very rare example since 1997. His passion was to attend rallies and shows gathering information and showing this and other Renaults in his collection. In September 2016, work was carried out by John Price Rallying at a cost of £6,153 this included new fuel injectors and pipes, a new fuel metering unit, reconditioned starter motor and alternator and new brake pads. Unfortunately due to poor health, the vendor has used the car very little since. The odometer reading 69,163km (42,195 miles) is thought to be correct although not warranted. Finished in the rare and highly desirable colour combination of metallic blue with contrasting blue and orange interior and badged as number 0008 car on the dashboard, this Renault 5 Turbo presents in excellent order. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a history folder, this rare and iconic classic of the 80’s looks for all the world like a Group B rally car, this may be the perfect chance to own a very rare and desirable Turbo 1. Jaguar XKR Convertible (5.0 litre)

Lot #206 (Sale Order 47 of 79)

The XK8 was launched in 1996 to replace the XJ-S. Two body styles were produced, a coupé and a convertible and the car was the first in the Jaguar line-up to use Jaguar's newly developed V8 engine. In 2000, the supercharged XKR was added to the range. This produced a staggering 503 horsepower, a subtle rear spoiler, wire mesh front grille and red exterior emblems were identifying features. The XKR's engine was made in England, the ignition system was from NGK in Japan, the transmission was a Mercedes-Benz 722.6, the lighting system was by Valeo in France and the supercharger was made by Eaton in the USA, it was truly a world car. The redesigned XK was styled by Jaguar's chief designer Ian Callum of Aston Martin fame. The standard XK model has a limited top speed of 158mph whilst the XKR had a limited top speed of 174mph. This 5.0 litre, XKR convertible was first registered on 9th July 2010 and has had just two former keepers. The black paintwork of this impressive example is in excellent order and the cream leather interior unmarked; all of this is complimented by Piano Black wood and brushed aluminium switch gear resulting in a delightful cockpit ambiance and offering a truly memorable driving experience. Triumph TR6 Triumph TR6

Triumph TR6

Lot #207 (Sale Order 48 of 79)

To modernise the Triumph TR5 that had evolved from the Michelotti designed TR4, Triumph looked to produce a new modern body. Triumph commissioned Karmann of Germany but the task was difficult as Karmann had to produce a new body style whilst retaining much of the original structure. The re-style included a new nose, wings and a new tail. The result was the 'Kamm' tailed TR6 and was produced between 1969 and 1976. The home market TR6 initially produced 150bhp but was later detuned to 125bhp. Due to their greater power output, the early models are sought after amongst the Triumph enthusiasts. This genuine UK right hand drive TR6 was originally registered on 16th April 1969. Subject to a restoration project in1999 including some new panels, this Triumph still presents in good order today, a testament to the quality of the prior restoration. In 2001 and at 96,235 miles, the engine was rebuilt by Cameron Gilmour specialists in Perth. This included a lightened and balanced flywheel, new ring gear and a ported cylinder head. This is a TR6 that has been well looked after and clearly benefits from the significant investment over the years. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 8th October 2018, together with a good history folder, this fuel injected Triumph is a great way to enjoy the summer.]]

Bentley Turbo R Bentley Turbo R

Bentley Turbo R

Lot #208 (Sale Order 49 of 79)

Manufactured from 1985 to 1997 with a total of 7,230 built in the 12 year production period, the Bentley Turbo R was a high performance luxury vehicle built at Crewe. The ‘R’ stood for ‘Roadholding’ to set it apart from its predecessor, the Mulsanne and also sported a revised suspension with wider tyres on alloy wheels, a first for a Bentley. The suspension changes, although seemingly subtle, transformed the soft and less than well-controlled ride of the Mulsanne into that of a real performer. This was achieved by increasing the anti-roll bar rates in the front and rear and by increasing the damping. A Panhard rod to anchor the rear suspension was also introduced, reducing side-to-side movement in corners. The Turbo R was sold alongside the Mulsanne Turbo for a short time although the Mulsanne was taken out of production in 1985. For the 1987 model year, the Turbo R received anti-lock brakes and Bosch fuel injection replacing the Solex carburettors. This Turbo R is finished in the delightful colour combination of Midnight Blue with parchment interior, piped in blue and with blue carpets. Originally registered on 1st August 1990 and supplied by Appleyard in Rippon, this well looked after Bentley has 21 stamps in the service books. The interior of a Bentley is an area of beauty with lots of space, leather and walnut. Benefitting from later type alloy wheels, this Bentley has spent some of the latter years in Ireland although was repatriated around two years ago. Also fitted with a sporty mesh grille, a badge bar and new front tyres this Bentley is supplied with a V5C registration document and a full years MoT test certificate, together with the original handbooks, this Turbo R represents superb value for money.]]

Lancia Fulvia 1.3S Series II

Lot #209 (Sale Order 50 of 79)

The Lancia Fulvia Coupe is the one that everyone really wants today. Yes, the Berlina is a great drive and an engineering masterpiece, but it really can't compare with its two-door cousin for desirability. It was introduced in and sported timeless styling by Piero Castagnero, based on a wheelbase that's 150mm shorter than the Berlina. The coupe shared no exterior panels with the saloon. At launch it also benefited from the larger 1216cc engine, which packed an impressive 80bhp at 6000rpm. Performance was hugely improved over the 1.1-litre saloon; and even more so, when it was upgraded to a 90bhp 1290cc power unit later in its life. Handling was known for its precision and neutrality, a point devastatingly proved in motor sport with the more potent HF. Styled after Monte Carlo, this exciting example is presented in red and black with a black interior. Residing within a private collection for the past 15 years, the car has recently been fully serviced which included the head and the valves being redone, and the carburettors overhauled. The car comes with its Italian documents. These are fun sports cars to drive and rare to find in this condition.  ]]

The mileage of 30,052 is warranted and confirmed by the original service book together with every MoT test certificate since the first one was issued in 1992. To be expected for such a low mileage example, the Acrylic White coachwork is in unmarked condition as is the sumptuous red leather interior. The exceedingly comfortable seats, with superb ergonomics for the driver, combine to make this a magnificent vehicle to drive or to be a passenger. Supplied with a V5C and an MoT test certificate valid until 16th August 2018, these magnificent machines were one of the finest ever manufactured at Crewe and are fast becoming recognised as such. ]]

Aston Martin DB 2/4 Mk. II Aston Martin DB 2/4 Mk. II

Aston Martin DB 2/4 Mk. II

Lot #216 (Sale Order 52 of 79)

Following the close of WWII, Aston Martin faced its third major financial crisis when a lack of capital prevented the development of new and necessary postwar models. A cryptic advertisement in The Times caught successful industrialist David Brown’s eye and by February 1947, a mere £20,500 was required for him to gain ownership of the firm. A few months later, another shrewd acquisition netted Brown to the Lagonda Company, which provided a modern 2,580 cc twin-overhead camshaft engine. In various forms, this basic engine design would continue through 1959, powering Aston Martin’s DB2, DB2/4, and DB Mk. III road cars, as well as the DB3 and DB3S sports racers. While these developments satisfied Brown the businessman, the racer inside nurtured the dream of scoring outright victory at the ultimate endurance competition, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Under the leadership of legendary team manager John Wyer and newly-hired drivers, including Jack Fairman, George Abecassis, Lance Macklin and Reg Parnell, racing began in earnest with the prototype DB2 models of 1949. One of these, LML/49/3, earned a Le Mans class podium finish. This promising start was followed by a trio of DB2s, LML/50/7, 50/8, and 50/9, who were entered in 1950 and two earned class awards. These were followed by the introduction of the DB3 and 3S competition cars, which moved the needle forward from 1952 through 1956. David Brown’s racing aspirations and his Works team efforts culminated in 1959, when the DBR1, driven by Roy Salvadori and Carroll Shelby, won Le Mans outright. That same year, the World Sports Car Championship also fell to Aston Martin, with additional help from the likes of such legendary drivers as Stirling Moss, Jack Fairman, and Tony Brooks. The hugely successful DB4, DB5, and DB6 Grand Tourers, powered by a new alloy twin-cam six, followed in the 1959 to 1969 period. A new V-8 engine debuted in 1969 as the DBS V-8, versions of this alloy masterpiece powering post-David Brown era Astons for a further two decades. Knighted in 1968, Sir David Brown’s 25-year stewardship produced, without a doubt, the most varied and universally revered range of Aston Martin motor cars. They all owe their very existence to the landmark DB2. The Aston Martin DB2 – The Start of Great Things This delightfully handsome Aston Martin DB 2/4 Mk. II has been owned by the vendor for the last 19 years. Throughout his stewardship, he has invested significant time and finances to improve the quality of the car resulting in this splendid example. In 2002 the car had a repaint and in 2008 the engine was rebuilt by marque specialist Davron in Salisbury. Additional work was carried out by XRN Ltd and the car was converted to run on unleaded fuel, the mileage at the time was 93,340. In 2009 five new wheels, tyres and tubes were purchased from MWS International, the same year also saw a replacement clutch fitted to the DB2. In 2012 the vendor had another clutch fitted by Davron, this was a lighter clutch and pressure plate from a DB5 thus resulting in a much lighter pedal action and making the car far more enjoyable to drive. The car also benefits from a stainless steel exhaust; the vendor has enjoyed a good relationship with Davron and they have carried out most of the servicing. Finished in British Racing Green with tan leather interior, this is a splendid colour combination for a car of the period. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a significant history folder, this Aston Martin has been enjoyed immensely by the vendor for virtually two decades travelling to a number of events in the UK and in France, however he now feels it is time to let someone else enjoy UNF 444. This is an opportunity to purchase a much loved and perfectly useable DB 2/4 Mk. II at a very realistic estimate.]]

Porsche Tractor Junior 108 Porsche Tractor Junior 108

Porsche Tractor Junior 108

Lot #218 (Sale Order 53 of 79)

The Porsche 108 was the smallest and most attractive of four tractors produced by Porsche from 1956 to 1963. The tractors were produced at the old Zeppelin factory in Friedrichs-hafen-Manzell, Germany. The appeal of the Porsche built tractors can be attributed to much more than just their stunning looks. Porsche tractors were designed with a fluid coupling to connect the engine to a six speed transmission – a distinctive feature of Porsche's tractors which offered the driver smooth gear changes. In 1960, Porsche introduced a new Bosch hydraulic lifting system, a significantly improved design when compared to the earlier 1956-'59 tractors. By 1963, production of Porsche tractors had ceased. Their compact styling and Porsche heritage have made restored Juniors a popular collectible item among Porsche car owners and vintage tractor collectors. This Junior 108 was rescued from a beach in Dunkerque where it was being used to pull in the fishing boats. It was fully restored in the 1980s and as such presents in good condition today. Since restoration, she has appeared at a number of Porsche events and was driven around the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit as part of the Porsche parade in 1993. Finished in red with cream wheels, this tractor starts on the button and runs well. Collectors of Porsche tractors will appreciate how difficult it is to find a good Junior 108, Bonhams sold such an example in the U.S. for $77,000 (£57,922) in August 2017. Aston Martin DB7 Volante Aston Martin DB7 Volante

Aston Martin DB7 Volante

Lot #224 (Sale Order 55 of 79)

Introduced in 1993 to the public, the handsome new DB7 was Aston Martin's first six cylinder model since production of the DBS had finished in 1971. Styled by Ian Callum, its lines were evocative of earlier Aston Martin models and elements of the DB4/5/6 could be seen in its design. Arguably one of the most attractive looking cars ever produced by Aston Martin, the DB7 was well received and attracted new customers worldwide with its traditional layout of the curvaceous two-door coupé body and powerful six or twelve-cylinder engine. At the Geneva Motor Show in 1999, Aston Martin introduced the six litre Cosworth designed and built V12 engine with 24 valve heads, developing 420bhp and 400 ft lb of torque accelerating from 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds with a top speed limited to 185mph. Other changes included chassis and braking upgrades, the much more powerful engine demanding greater quantities of air intake and cooling, as well as uprated brakes. Ian Callum enlarged the grill, added fog lamps and re-styled the valances to give the car a more aggressive look. This desirable V12 Volante model looks fantastic in its Mendip blue paint with Parchment and blue piped interior and dark blue mohair hood. The 5.9 litre V12 reportedly runs beautifully and drives incredibly well through its 5 speed automatic gearbox. The quality of this car can be seen as well through its comprehensive service history that has been regularly carried out by Aston Works and main dealers. The car was last serviced in June 2017, comes with a fresh MoT test certificate and is supplied with a V5C registration document as well as comprehensive service file and owners manuals. The car also benefits from rare upgraded Works Visual Dynamic rear lights, tracker and factory ordered sports exhaust adding to the already impressive soundtrack. This timeless beauty is no doubt ready to take pride of place in any discerning collection.]]

Marmon Quattroporte III

Lot #225 (Sale Order 56 of 79)

Produced by Maserati, the Quattroporte is a four-door, luxury sports saloon, for which the name translated from Italian literally means ‘four doors’. There have been six generations of this car; the first was introduced in 1963 and the current model launched in 2013. The Quattroporte IV from 1994 was a restyled, four-door version of the Ghibli II Coupé designed by Marcello Gandini. The new car, smaller than its predecessors, was aerodynamic and featured Gandini's trademark angular rear wheel arch. A 2.8-Litre, twin-turbo, V6 was installed producing 280bhp and reaching a claimed top speed of 158mph. In 1995, a new release, the V8, 3.2-Litre Biturbo from the Maserati Shamal was introduced, developing 330bhp with a claimed top speed of 168mph. This delightful Maserati is registered in Portugal and presents in virtually unmarked condition. The brown coachwork is unmarked and the sumptuous interior with its ample legroom, wooden dashboard and leather interior is in superb order. We are advised this Quattroporte drives with no known faults; the vendor is a knowledgeable classic car enthusiast. The odometer has a reading of 33,671km (20,922 miles) which, whilst not warranted, is thought to be correct. Supplied with a good history folder, this Maserati is one of the best examples we have seen.]]

Jaguar E-Type Series II 2+2 Coupé (4.2 litre)

Lot #226 (Sale Order 57 of 79)

The Jaguar E-Type was initially designed and shown to the public as a grand tourer in two-seater coupé form and as a convertible roadster. Open headlights without glass covers, a wrap-around rear bumper, re-positioned and larger front indicators and tail lights below the bumpers, better cooling aided by an enlarged 'mouth' and twin electric fans, together with up-rated brakes are all hallmarks of the Series II cars. The interior and dashboard were also re-designed with rocker switches being substituted for toggle switches. The dashboard switches also lost their symmetrical layout. New seats were fitted which purists claim lacked the style of the originals but were certainly more comfortable; air conditioning and power steering were available as factory options. This Jaguar E-Type was originally registered on 1st May 1969 and is a genuine UK registered right hand drive example. Described by the vendor as a car that runs and drives well, this matching numbers Jaguar is finished in red with a black leather trim and a manual gearbox. She sits well on a set of wire wheels and has a Webasto sunroof. The car is supplied with a V5C registration and an MoT test certificate valid until 18th September 2018 together with a collection of previous MoT certificates. Jaguar XK150 Drophead Coupé Jaguar XK150 Drophead Coupé

Jaguar XK150 Drophead Coupé

Lot #228 (Sale Order 58 of 79)

Although having a family resemblance to the XK120 and XK140, the XK150 was radically modernised. A one piece windscreen replaced the split screen and the wing line no longer dropped as much over the doors. The bonnet was widened, opened down to the wings and on the roadster, the bulkhead was moved back four inches to make the bonnet longer. In the interior, the XK140's walnut dashboard was replaced by one trimmed in leather and chrome. On the early drophead coupés, an aluminium centre dash panel with an 'X' pattern engraving was fitted which looked similar to the early 3.8 E-Type. It was discontinued after June 1958. The standard engine, the same as fitted to the XK140, was the 3.4 litre DOHC Jaguar straight six rated at 180bhp at 5750rpm but most cars were fitted with the SE engine that had a modified cylinder head with larger exhaust valves rated at 210bhp at 5500rpm. These were high performance, well appointed sports touring cars capable of 137mph and 0-60 in 7.8 seconds and could accomplish long distances with alacrity. This lovely, original, matching numbers, left hand drive 1959 Jaguar XK150 Drophead Coupé with overdrive was imported from the USA in 2015. Since arriving in the UK, the car has been fitted with a new sports exhaust system, new rear road springs, the front and rear shock absorbers replaced, new fuel tank and new fuel pump. The brakes have been overhauled and uprated with new ‘four pot’ front calipers and new calipers to the rear. This original XK150 Drophead is finished in black with black roof and a red leather interior. It is supplied with a V5C registration document and other documents from when the car was imported. This Jaguar XK150 represents a true driver's car and it is now ready for its next owner and further use, such as the great range of national or international rallies currently on offer; something it has been perfectly designed for.]]

Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Roadster Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Roadster

Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Roadster

Lot #231 (Sale Order 59 of 79)

The Mercedes-Benz 190 SL, along with the 300 SL, made history at the New York International Motor Sports Show in February 1954 by being the first new production Mercedes-Benz to be unveiled outside of Germany. The impression given by the 190 SL, alongside the bigger 300 SL, was neat, sporty and with dashing lines. This was the trait of Mercedes-Benz designers Karl Wilfret and Walter Hacket. Despite opinions, the statistics tell their own tale as between May 1955 and February 1963, 25,881 of these cars were produced - it was a huge success for Mercedes-Benz. Its engine boasted four inline cylinders with a chain driven overhead camshaft and two Solex 44PHH carburettors, delivering a respectable 108bhp for that era. The body was a monocoque design, welded to the shortened chassis of the type 180 saloon. A racing version with aluminium doors and a small windscreen was never produced although these parts could be ordered from the Factory for weekend racing.  This left hand drive Mercedes-Benz 190 SL was restored by SLS Hamburg in 2014 and as such still presents in excellent order today. The gleaming black coachwork is virtually unmarked and the contrasting red leather interior delightful. This 190 SL also benefits from having a hardtop. These super stylish sportscars from the 60s are head turners wherever they appear and an example as good as this, certainly stands out from the crowd. The car is supplied with a V5C registration document together with a current MoT test certificate valid until 28th February 2019 and a collection of invoices.  ]]

Porsche 911S Targa Porsche 911S Targa

Porsche 911S Targa

Lot #232 (Sale Order 60 of 79)

The original Porsche 911, with its famous and durable design, was introduced in the Autumn of 1963 and built until 1989. From its inception, the 911 was modified both by private racing teams and the Porsche factory itself for racing, rallying and other competitions. The original 911 series is often cited as the most successful sports/racing car ever, especially when its variations included the powerful 911 derived 935 which won Le Mans, as well as other major sports cars races. In 1967, Porsche introduced the 911T model and subsequently a 911E version, however the 911S was the most desirable and with only 3,174 Porsche 911S's manufactured, good quality surviving examples are rare and highly collectable. This original, low mileage and well preserved classic fuel injected Porsche 911 2.7 S is finished in vibrant red coachwork together with a beautiful black interior and red stitching. The car had been lovingly owned by Captain Bob Stanell in California from new, due to ill health he sold his collection in late 2015. Presented with just 35,521 miles on the odometer and accompanied by a comprehensively stamped and original service booklet, this car was snapped up by our vendor who wanted a dry, rust free low mileage example for his collection, thus OBA 598P found its way to the leafy Surrey suburbs. Our vendor has since lavished circa £15,000 with specialist Eporsch in Bisley, Surrey, predominantly on mechanical work which enabled the car to be returned to European specification and included a top end engine rebuild. All invoices for the work can be found within the cars history file including the most recent service in November 2017, also accompanying this is an MoT test certificate valid until August 2018 with no advisories. This example is a true reflection of its low mileage and indeed a very desirable 911S. The interior is as new, the Targa roof has been restored and the car represents a genuine collectors example competitively priced with fabulous coachwork.]]

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II

Lot #235 (Sale Order 61 of 79)

It’s hard to believe the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow recently celebrated its 50th Anniversary, with Crewe’s first ‘modern’ car unveiled at the Paris Salon in 1965. Employing unitary construction for the first time, the Silver Shadow’s elegant shape, styled by John Blatchley’s talented team, has stood the test of time remarkably well. The Silver Shadow broke new ground for the Crewe Company in a number of key areas, from the sophisticated fully independent suspension with an advanced self-levelling system to four wheel ventilated disc brakes. The only major components carried over from the Silver Cloud III were the excellent all aluminium 6.2 litre V8 and four speed automatic transmission with fluid flywheel, the latter replaced by GM’s excellent 400 three-speed box in October 1968 while the engine was enlarged to 6.75 litres the following year. Although no power output was ever divulged by the company, merely described as ‘adequate’, the Silver Shadow’s superior aerodynamics meant the car was perfectly happy cruising the motorways. Inside, the Silver Shadow combined traditional materials and craftsmanship with modern fittings like electric windows. No less than eight individual Connolly hides were used to trim the interior of each car and the standard of finish on the upholstery, rich Wilton carpets and burr walnut veneers was impeccable. Each Silver Shadow employed 20 electric motors, powering everything from the radio antenna to adjusting the individual front seats. Build quality on the Silver Shadow remained unsurpassed, each taking no less than 12 weeks to build from start to finish. This Rolls-Royce is a one owner example and has covered a warranted mileage of only 5,692 from new. Finished in the delightful period colour combination of Walnut with beige leather trim the interior of this Silver Shadow II is unmarked and even smells like new. The dashboard on a Silver Shadow II is an area of beauty, almost like a piece of furniture with an abundance of wood and chrome. This Rolls-Royce also benefits from having picnic tables in the rear, footrests and front headrests. Supplied new by Lex Mead on 19th March 1980 this remarkable car is in totally original condition and can surely be described as the best example available anywhere today; where else can you find a one owner, 38 year old, 5,771 miles Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II?  ]]

Porsche 911 / 996 Turbo Porsche 911 / 996 Turbo

Porsche 911 / 996 Turbo

Lot #236 (Sale Order 62 of 79)

The 996 model is a superb car; quick, reliable, well made and the birth of the water cooled Porsche 911. With a wide range of models on offer, the most iconic is, of course, the Turbo. Featuring four wheel drive and a 3.6 litre, intercooled engine, derived from the 1998 Le Mans winning GT-1 car, pushing out 420bhp and hitting 60mph in a whisker over four seconds, this is genuine supercar territory. The 996 was seen as a more relaxed and usable 911; however, in Turbo guise, the driver would get the best of both worlds; a luxury leather interior with every creature comfort combined with the ability to drop the hammer and reach a top speed of a claimed 190 mph. The 996 Turbo was available with either a 6-speed manual or a 5-speed tiptronic transmission with revised styling and a wider stance than the naturally aspirated 996 Carreras along with new bi-xenon headlamps. The Turbo also came with Vario Cam Plus as well as stability management - a necessity with over 400 bhp under your right foot. This lovely example is presented in black with matching black leather interior and comes with all its original books and wallets. The car has a very good service history and has numerous factory options which enhance its desirability including heated seats, 5-speed tiptronic transmission (tiptronic buttons for steering wheel), park assist and sunroof to name a few. Both service book and front under bonnet stickers showing these options are still present on the vehicle. The present owner has spent around £8,000 on the car in the last year and invoices showing this can be seen on file. These models are highly sought after and still offer exhilarating performance at a fraction of the price of many competitors.  ]]

Porsche 911 / 996 Carrera 4 Porsche 911 / 996 Carrera 4

Porsche 911 / 996 Carrera 4

Lot #238 (Sale Order 63 of 79)

On its debut, the 996 featured the most significant changes to the Carrera model since its 1963 introduction, namely the water-cooled engine replacing the previously air-cooled unit. Other changes included a sleeker body with a more steeply raked windshield and a redesigned interior. The performance characteristics remained superb with reliability at its core. This Carrera 4S is the ultimate incarnation of Porsche's 996, it has the more desirable 3.6 litre engine coupled with a six-speed manual gearbox.  This Porsche Carrera 4 has only had three former keepers since being registered on 24th July 2002, the current vendor owning her for the last five years. Finished in the delightful colour combination of silver blue metallic with black leather interior, this Porsche is described by the vendor as driving well with no known faults. Clearly this has been a car that has been well looked after. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate, together with a hardtop, this Porsche is ready to enjoy immediately.  ]]

MG B Roadster MG B Roadster

MG B Roadster

Lot #239 (Sale Order 64 of 79)

The roadster was the first of the MGB range to be produced. The body was a pure two-seater; a small rear seat was a rare option at one point. By making better use of space the MGB was able to offer more passenger and luggage accommodation than the earlier MGA while being 3 inches (75 mm) shorter overall. The suspension was also softer, giving a smoother ride, and the larger engine gave a slightly higher top speed. From 1972 there were two different radial sizes factory-fitted to new cars, depending on whether the car was a roadster or a GT. Later on during the rubber bumper production period, alloy wheels were introduced on several different limited edition models - with the final 1,000 LE models being the last cars to leave the factory with alloy wheels This lovely example of the MG B Roadster is presented in  Gunmetal Grey with a  black leather interior  and green piping. It comes with a black canvas soft top hood, a hard top and is fitted with the more sporty  Mini Lite wheels. The car was restored in 2002 and as it was  part of a deceased estate, there are no restoration  invoices  unfortunately but there is just one old MoT certificate  with the  mileage showing 75,871 miles, which we  believe to be  genuine. A new MoT test certificate  will be supplied before it is due to go to Auction. The car is  generally in a good  condition and was garaged while in the previous owner’s care.     ]]

Range Rover HSE by Holland & Holland

Lot #243 (Sale Order 65 of 79)

The Range Rover is a large luxury four-wheel drive sport utility vehicle launched in 1970 and is now in its fourth generation.  In 1967, the first Range Rover prototype was built with the classic Range Rover shape clearly discernible although with a different front grill and headlight configuration. The design of the Range Rover was eventually finalised and signed off in 1969. After 25 years from the introduction of the first-generation Range Rover, the second-generation Range Rover model, designation P38A, was introduced for the 1995 model year with an updated version of the Rover V8 engines. The new model offered more equipment and premium trims positioning the vehicle above the Land Rover Discovery to face ever increasing competition in the SUV marketplace. Just as AMG is synonymous with the Mercedes-Benz performance division and Fords with RS Cosworth badges on the boot can always be relied upon to supply thrills on demand, Overfinch has been connected to Range Rover (and Land Rover) since the 1970's offering something a little more 'exuberant' to the world's best four wheel drive car ever built. Overfinch, in association with the world famous gun maker, Holland & Holland, produced a limited edition Range Rover in which standard extras of electric windows, electric sunroof, electric heated seats, tinted windows, radio, central locking, power steering and a stack CD player, were added to by the bespoke Holland & Holland features including unique saddle leather, gun stock wood veneers, picnic tables, satellite navigation, TV screens fitted to front head rests, Holland & Holland inlays, gun cabinet, mud guards and over carpets.  Originally registered on 28th February 2001, this Range Rover is a 4.6 litre HSE Holland & Holland example. Finished in Tintern Green metallic and fitted with most of the Holland & Holland extras listed above, she is supplied with a V5C registration document together with a current MoT test certificate valid until 12th April 2019 and good history file of works carried out over the years. Range Rovers are great to drive and a practical classic car; limited editions such as this are highly desirable.  ]]

Triumph TR4 Triumph TR4

Triumph TR4

Lot #248 (Sale Order 66 of 79)

Produced between 1961 and 1967, the TR4 combined a new, modern and aggressive body design by famed Italian stylist, Giovanni Michelotti with the basic chassis of the previous TR3A. The TR4 also improved passenger comfort with wind-up windows, face-level ventilation and an optional hardtop. The 2138cc engine of the late-production TR3A continued while the 1991cc engine was also made available to buyers who wanted to participate in two-litre racing. When equipped with the optional overdrive, the TR4 was good for a top speed of almost 110mph. Today, the four-cylinder TR's are among the easiest of post-war classic sports cars to own and maintain being supported by a multitude of component suppliers and other specialists. This example is presented in black with red interior including its original steering wheel which is rare. Originally exported to Kentucky, this left hand drive Triumph was repatriated to the UK and registered in 2017 and is supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 16th October 2018. These Triumphs are much sought after and often muted as one of the prettiest of the TR range. MG B GT MG B GT

MG B GT

Lot #250 (Sale Order 67 of 79)

The MGB was launched in May 1962 to replace the MGA. Introduced as a four cylinder roadster, a coupé with 2+2 seating was added in 1965, with production continuing until October 1980. The MGB GT sported a ground-breaking design by Pininfarina with the launch of its sporty 'hatchback' style. By combining the sloping rear window with the rear deck lid, the GT offered the utility of a hatchback whilst retaining the style and shape of a coupé. Acceleration of the GT was slightly slower than that of the Roadster due to its increased weight although top speed was improved by 5mph to 105mph due to better aerodynamics. This MGB GT has been rebuilt from the ground up by the vendor over a five year period, resulting in an MGB with exceptional performance. The specification is enormous and includes a new 4.0 litre V8 engine supplied by Turner Engineering including heavy duty iron flanged liners, a Real Steel high performance camshaft, Merlin big valve cylinder heads, John Earles crossover inlet manifold and carbon fibre air boxes. All of this is mounted to an LT five speed gearbox, with suspension and braking system suitably enhanced to ensure this unique MGB has the necessary handling and stopping power. Fuel injection has also been added, the mapping of which can be adjusted by the onboard tablet computer. Speedhut digital/analog instrumentation has been fitted including a GPS speedometer and lap timing. Finished in the Ferrari colour of Rosso Corsa with a new black leather interior, this MGB GT is supplied with a V5C registration document and a comprehensive history folder confirming the vendor’s expenditure to be far in excess of the estimate. This car is exceptional and is not for the faint hearted.]]

Land Rover Defender 90 Hardtop by Bowler Land Rover Defender 90 Hardtop by Bowler

Land Rover Defender 90 Hardtop by Bowler

Lot #251 (Sale Order 68 of 79)

The Land Rover Defender was launched in 1948 and, incredibly, production only finished in January 2016 after a continuous run of 67 years. Outwardly, there is little to distinguish the post-1983 vehicles from the Series III Land Rover. A full-length bonnet, revised grille, plus the fitting of wheel arch extensions to cover wider-track axles are the most noticeable changes. Internally, coil springs offered a more comfortable ride and a permanent four-wheel drive system derived from the Range Rover featuring a two-speed transfer gearbox with a lockable centre differential. A modernised interior and a new series of progressively more powerful and modern engine characterised things under the skin. This Land Rover Defender 90 Hardtop was originally registered on 31st March 2014 and has been subject to a number of modifications by marque specialist Bowler in Derbyshire, a quick look at their website confirms how well they know these 4 x4s and the quality of their workmanship. This particular example has been treated to the Bowler fast road package including; Bilstein suspension, 18” wheels with BF Goodrich tyres, protection package, Recaro seats, Bowler gear selector, brake upgrade front and rear and Bowler stage two engine upgrade. The result is a Defender that looks superb and drives exceedingly well. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate, this Land Rover certainly stands out from the crowd.  ]]

Ford Mustang Mach 1 Ford Mustang Mach 1

Ford Mustang Mach 1

Lot #254 (Sale Order 69 of 79)

1969 was the benchmark year for Ford Mustang in its proliferation of performance names and engines. No fewer than six factory performance Mustang models were available; GT, Boss 302, Boss 429, Shelby GT350, Shelby GT500 and the Mach 1. Additionally, seven variations of V8s were available in the 1969/1970 models; most of these also available in the new Mach 1. The Mach 1 started with a V8 powered ‘Sportsroof’ body and added numerous visual and performance enhancing items such as matt black hood treatment with hood pins, competition suspension, chrome pop-open gas cap, revised wheels with Goodyear Polyglas tyres, chrome exhaust tips, livery and dealer optional chin spoiler, rear deck spoiler, and rear window louvers. Standard on Mach 1’s was a fierce but cosmetic hood scoop that had integrated turn-signal lights mounted in the back. A more functional option was the signature ‘shaker hood’, an air scoop mounted directly to the top of the motor, used to collect fresh air and so named for its tendency to ‘shake’ above the rumbling V8 below. The interior came complete with teak wood grain details, full sound deadening material and high-back sport bucket seats. In 1969 endurance driver Mickey Thompson took three Mach 1 Mustangs to the Bonneville Salt Flats for a feature in Hot Rod magazine; in the process setting 295 speed and endurance records over a series of 500-mile and 24-hour courses.  This fantastic, original example is presented in charismatic orange with a black interior and is a genuine matching numbers car.  With only two owners from new, it was built in San Jose, California where it has spent all its life until recently imported to the UK by the present owner (NOVA number supplied with car). It is powered by a 351 Cleveland 5800cc V8 via automatic transmission and was restored in the USA to an extremely high standard. The car comes with power steering, disc brakes, its original radio and handbooks. These models are extremely rare and sought after on both sides of the Atlantic and this particular car would grace any private collection or indeed be an exhilarating everyday car. The sound of its V8 is certainly one to behold and even better when the accelerator is pressed hard!    ]]

MG B Roadster

Lot #255 (Sale Order 70 of 79)

The MGB was launched in May 1962 to replace the MGA. It was Introduced as a four cylinder roadster and a coupé with 2+2 seating was added in 1965. It was a relatively modern design at the time of its introduction, utilising a monocoque structure instead of the traditional 'body on frame' construction used on both the MGA and MG T-types. The lightweight design reduced manufacturing costs while adding to overall vehicle strength. The performance was considered brisk at the time of its introduction aided by the relatively light weight of the car. This lovely example is presented in British Racing Green with black leather seats which are in good condition and it also comes with a black hood and tonneau. The engine was rebuilt as part of a restoration which took place in the late 1990s and about five years ago, a new all synchromesh gearbox was installed. The car comes with a substantial history file containing many invoices from the present owners time with the car as well as past owners. The current vendor had a new head fitted with hardened valve seats so that it can run on lead free petrol, all the parts were purchased via the MG Owners Club. The carburettors have been fully reconditioned and new carpets have been fitted. With overdrive available in third and fourth gears, this great British sports car is still a joy to drive on country roads and is just as at home on the motorway.]]

Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster

Lot #258 (Sale Order 71 of 79)

Mercedes-Benz have been producing an SL (Sport Leicht) model or range of models since 1954. The similarly styled but mechanically unrelated 190 followed in 1955, completing the first generation of cars. The second generation SL's began with the 230 in 1963. It was distinguished by its lower waistline, big curved screens and a distinctive optional hardtop that earned the model its nickname of pagoda top'. Over its nine years of production, the second generation SL's engine grew in capacity from 2.3 litre (230 SL) to 2.5 litre (250 SL) and finally to a 2.8 litre (280 SL). The larger, third generation SL was launched in 1971, initially with just a 3.5-litre engine (350 SL) mated to four-speed automatic transmission. The car featured a two-door monocoque body shell with independent suspension all round, coil springs and anti-roll bar at the front, semi-trailing arms, coil springs and anti-roll bar at the rear. The power assisted steering was Daimler-Benz's own re-circulating ball system. Over its seventeen year reign, the R107 range was powered by no less than eight different engines - two sizes of straight-six unit and six versions of 90-degree V8 including the three litre straight six we have offered here produced from 1985. This delightful example was originally registered on 24th August 1989 and presents in beautiful condition. Clearly this Mercedes-Benz has been the subject of a restoration and this appears to have been carried out to a good standard. Owned by the current vendor since 2001, he has now decided to part company with his 300 SL due to lack of suitable storage space. Finished in light metallic blue with mushroom leather interior, this Mercedes-Benz is supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 21st December 2018.  ]]

Mercedes-Benz 450SL

Lot #264 (Sale Order 72 of 79)

Introduced early in 1971, this impressive two-seater sports car replaced the 280SL. The body and chassis of the third generation Mercedes-Benz SL was considerably heavier and longer than its predecessor but still showed a resemblance to them. The 3.5 litre, V8 engine underwent slight modifications to those being used on other models and the gear shift lever was placed on the floor in the centre of the car. The standard transmission provided a top speed of 130mph and a very respectable 0-62mph in 8.8 seconds. As with the previous generation SL's, the vehicle came as an open roadster with removable hard top and went on to become one of the longest running styles from Mercedes-Benz. A range of engine size were available, one of the more powerful and rarer was the 4.5 litre unit. Having just benefitted from a full respray in its original gold colour this lovely and rare 450sl looks fantastic glistening in the sunlight. The body is very solid with little to no sign of corrosion, the interior presents well and the soft top hood is virtually as new having only been fitted a year ago and never used. The car comes complete with its hard top cover which was repainted at the same time as the car. Having had a recent service it has covered just 2000 miles in the past five years. Perhaps most impressive is the service book included in the sale which shows 8 stamps at; 787 miles, 4,963 miles, 9,680 miles, 20,187 miles, 29,560 miles, 40,013 miles 67,026 miles and 89,400 miles. Its latest service was done at 105,000 and the car now shows 106,000 miles. The car starts and runs well on first attempt and drives as you’d imagine any luxury V8 Mercedes from this period would. This incredibly solid and well maintained 450sl offers a lot of style for the money, especially when considering the private plate is included. The car is supplied with its fantastic service history mentioned above, V5C registration document, MoT test certificate that expires in June 2019 and private number plate.]]

Lot #267 (Sale Order 74 of 79)

The Toyota Land Cruiser, in its many sizes and configurations, has had a long and successful history of reliable service through the most rugged of conditions. Patterned after the ubiquitous Jeep and Land Rover utility vehicles, the Land Cruiser demonstrated that Toyota could produce much more than just economical cars. Introduced in 1960, it was available as the FJ40 series (with F engines) but also BJ40/41/42 (short wheelbase), BJ43/44/46 (middle wheelbase) or HJ45/47 (long wheelbase). In line with this, a number of chassis options were also available with half cabs, soft tops and doors and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines.  They became indispensable in unsettled and remote areas of the world, hauled safaris through Africa, developed a devoted following among America's off-road culture and have spawned a host of imitators.  Finding a good vintage example of these archetypical utility vehicles can be difficult.  This Toyota FJ45 pick-up was originally registered in South Africa and imported into the UK in 2015. Finished in white with black interior, this rugged Land Cruiser presents in good order throughout and is aesthetically improved by the fitment of a bull bar and roll over bars. Supplied with a V5C registration document together with a current MoT test certificate valid until 8th October 2018, this right hand drive, rare FJ45 pick-up offers the flexibility of road or off-road motoring.]]

Ford Thunderbird Ford Thunderbird

Ford Thunderbird

Lot #275 (Sale Order 75 of 79)

The Thunderbird entered production in 1955 as a sporty two seat convertible. Unlike the Chevrolet Corvette, it was not marketed as a sports car but positioned as an upscale model and is credited in developing a new market segment, the personal luxury car. After a five year hiatus, Ford introduced a new Thunderbird for 2002 the 11th generation. Returning to the original formula for the Thunderbird, the latest version had a two seat coupé/convertible layout like the first generation Thunderbird and retrofuturistic styling to match. The 11th generation Thunderbird was based on the company's DEW98 platform, which was shared with the Jaguar S-Type. The sole engine of the Thunderbird was a Jaguar designed 3.9 litre V8, making 252bhp. Ford decided to make the 2005 model year the Thunderbird's last with no scheduled successor. The last one rolled off the assembly line on 1st July 2005 and, from its introduction in 1955 to its final phaseout in 2005, Ford produced over 4.4 million Thunderbirds. This fabulous 2002 California import is presented in Torch Red coachwork with full red and black leather trim and matching black hood. Recent new tonneau and draft deflector have been added by our vendor who recently took this example on a 2,000 mile continental road trip for which he stated the car did not miss a beat and returned a relatively generous 26mpg; not bad when twinned to a great sounding 3.9 litre V8. With contrasting white retro style porthole window and hardtop with storage trolley, GU51 EYW is accompanied by a new MoT test certificate and UK V5C registration document. We are informed that recent service work including a new air conditioning compressor has been carried out which our vendor hopes will provide the next owner with many years of enjoyable motoring.]]

A 2+2 convertible, Michelotti's design featured a quad-lamp grille and sculpted front and rear ends, the latter destined to appear on many future Triumphs. By the time production commenced in 1970, the 2000's six cylinder engine had been replaced by a three litre V8. A padded, 'T' shaped roll bar bracing the door pillars and windscreen was one of the Stag's most distinctive features and the model could be had in soft top, hard top, or soft with hardtop formats. Motor Sport described the Stag's interior as, 'well appointed, having all the usual instrumentation one would expect in a high performance car.'This lovely black on black Triumph Stag was first registered on 9th November 1973 and presents very well. The current vendor has lavished much time and expenditure with his car and recently undertaking a restoration on his beloved Stag. The history file shows no lack of upkeep denoted by older invoices and MoT certificated, however, it has been in the last two years that this Stag has been transformed, we are informed with bills surmounting to nearly £20,000. Included in the restoration was a full respray, rebuilt engine and gearbox. Recently £2,000 has been spent having the car tuned by a Triumph specialist and new roof frame fitted. A desirable manual with overdrive example offered with a new MoT, this Triumph Stag is certainly well priced and the perfect foil for lazy V8 motoring this summer with the roof down.]]

Lotus Esprit Turbo Lotus Esprit Turbo

Lotus Esprit Turbo

Lot #278 (Sale Order 77 of 79)

The 1987 Lotus Esprit benefitted from a far reaching restyle by Peter Stevens. Out went many of the sharp lines, to be replaced by a more organic aero look. It worked, too - the Esprit certainly looked like a contemporary product when launched, and still looks timeless today. There was a little more power and a little more weight, but overall the Esprit experience was uncorrupted by the update. The Citroën SM gearbox was replaced by a Renault GTA unit, along with outboard rear brakes. The interior for both cars was revised and featured new trim; combined with changes to the body moulds this resulted in more headroom and an enlarged foot well. This attractive Lotus presents well in black with a black and yellow interior. The vendor informs us that this Lotus was stored in a dehumidified garage. One of the few trips out the car has had recently was to the official Lotus heritage repair centre ‘Esprit Engineering' in Wiltshire who did a significant amount of servicing work. This included replacing the two alloy petrol tanks, a cambelt change and a full service. Offered to auction with a V5C registration document and an MoT valid until March 2019, this car would suit both the enthusiast and the collector. Viewing is highly recommended.]]

Mercedes-Benz 190D Ponton Mercedes-Benz 190D Ponton

Mercedes-Benz 190D Ponton

Lot #279 (Sale Order 78 of 79)

The 180-190 and 220-220 S 'Ponton' models looked very similar in appearance from the windscreen back to the six-cylinder somewhat longer 220s-220 S-220 SE models. From behind, one could not easily differentiate even the top of the line 220 SE from a 180 but for the longer bonnet and chrome touches. The 180-190 four-cylinders were widely used as German taxis. Only these shorter Pontons featured low-wattage parking clearance lights at front and rear bumper. A simple left-right toggle above and to the left of the driver's knee selected which side would illuminate so as not to needlessly run down the battery in winter. Heater air intakes were on both sides of the radiator grille only on the 120/121.  This left hand drive 190D Ponton was imported into the UK in 1989 and has been in the hands of the vendor for the last 19 years. We are advised the car needs a light restoration and the brakes need attention although we are advised the engine runs well. Finished in white, this Mercedes-Benz Ponton is an ideal project for a competent DIY mechanic.]]

Bentley Turbo R Bentley Turbo R

Bentley Turbo R

Lot #286 (Sale Order 79 of 79)

The Bentley Turbo R was a high-performance model produced by Bentley Motors Limited. It initially inherited the turbocharged engine from the Mulsanne Turbo and also sported a retuned suspension and wider tyres on alloy wheels, quite a departure for a Bentley. From the 1987 model year, however, the Turbo R's V8 engine was retuned with new Bosch MK-Motronic fuel injection for added torque. Other modifications carried out at the same time included new sports seats and a higher rear axle ratio. Motor Trend called the Turbo R 'the first Bentley in decades deserving of the famous name' in their review of the car on its introduction to the United States in 1989.The suspension changes, though seemingly subtle, transformed the heavy car into a real performer. Anti-roll bar rates were increased by 60% at the front and 80% at the rear and tuned dampers were added. A Panhard rod was also introduced, reducing side-to-side movement in corners. Spring rates remained the same as on the Mulsanne. Although official figures were never provided by Rolls-Royce, Motor Trend estimated the power output at 296bhp with 486lb/ft of torque. The Turbo R slotted above the Bentley Mulsanne S and Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit and it carved a well deserved niche in the world of performance saloons. This lovely example is presented in metallic blue with the wonderful classic combination of cream leather interior. It comes with a full history from new including 23 main agent stamps and a few specialist stamps. The previous owner has just spent in the region of £10,000 on the car, with some work carried out by the well-known Rolls-Royce and Bentley specialist Chelsea Workshop. These models possess poise and grace in bundles, with performance to match and this is a great opportunity to enter the world of luxury motoring for less than the price of a VW Golf!  ]]
