Ford Popular 100E Ford Popular 100E

Ford Popular 100E

Lot #101 (Sale Order 1 of 164)

In 1959 the old Popular was replaced by a new version which was in production until 1962. Like the previous model it used a superseded Anglia body shell, this time that of the 100E, and it was powered by a strengthened 1172cc side valve engine producing 36 bhp. The brakes were now hydraulic with 8-inch drums all round. The basic model stripped out many items from the old model but there was a large list of extras available; on the De Luxe version many of the extras were included as standard. In total 126,115 Popular 100Es were built. The Motor magazine tested a 100E in 1960 and found it to have a top speed of 69.9 mph, acceleration from 0-50 mph in 19.6 seconds and a fuel consumption of 33.2 miles per gallon, the test car cost £494 including taxes with a comment that it was the lowest-priced orthodox saloon on the British market. In 1960, the manufacturer's recommended retail price of £494 was equivalent to 26 weeks' worth of the average UK wage. Click here for more information

MG 1300 Mk. II MG 1300 Mk. II

MG 1300 Mk. II

Lot #102 (Sale Order 2 of 164)

In 1962, a quite revolutionary new saloon was launched by BMC at the same time as the brand new MGB. Initially wearing the Morris badge, it was hot from the drawing boards of Alec Issigonis and Pininfarina. The Morris 1100 saloon was bristling with new technology and although the Mini had been launched very successfully in 1959. It was then given a face lift and now sported a 1275cc engine and a two door body. The fascia and instrumentation were improved and soon adopted as the MG 1300. The Mk. II adopted the Riley walnut veneer fascia panel that carried a revolution counter, speedometer, fuel, oil pressure and water temperature gauges as well as a smart leather-covered three-spoked alloy steering wheel. Fiat 130B Coupe by Pininfarina Fiat 130B Coupe by Pininfarina

Fiat 130B Coupe by Pininfarina

Lot #103 (Sale Order 3 of 164)

Gianni Agnelli, the founder of Lancia ordered a Fiat 130 shooting brake as his company car. The advanced (and prize-winning) lines penned by Paolo Martin of Pininfarina were admired globally especially when combined with equally advanced suspension geometry in the form of four-wheel independent suspension, to wit, Macpherson struts all-round and torsion bars front and coil springs rear. This rare right hand drive 'B' version benefits from significant refinements over the earlier 'A' version in the form of dashboard redesign, advanced fibre-optic internal lighting and more power. Both 'Motor' and 'Autocar' journalists agreed that, 'seldom have we encountered such excellent handling in a car of this size'. Described as in good condition by the current vendor, it has been stripped and repainted in recent years by one of its previous owners, the noted motoring journalist, Martin Buckley of Classic & Sports Car through Cotswold Classic Car Restorations. Supplied with a stainless steel exhaust as well as numerous spare parts including headlights, fabric, new radiator, four wheels and much more. With an extensive history file, this elegant sporting tourer is offered without reserve. Click here for more information

Sunbeam Alpine Mk. IV GT Sunbeam Alpine Mk. IV GT

Sunbeam Alpine Mk. IV GT

Lot #104 (Sale Order 4 of 164)

The Sunbeam Alpine is a sporty two-seat open car launched in 1953, it was the first vehicle from Sunbeam-Talbot Limited to bear the Sunbeam name since the 1935 takeover of Sunbeam and Talbot by the Rootes Group. Ken Howes and Jeff Crompton were tasked with doing a complete redesign of the Alpine in 1956 to produce a dedicated sports car aimed principally at the US market. Ken Howes contributed some 80% of the overall design work and, throughout its production cycle, the Alpine was manufactured in four subsequent revisions through to 1968. Production stopped shortly after the Chrysler takeover of the Rootes Group. The Series II of 1960 featured an enlarged 1,592cc engine producing 80 bhp and revised rear suspension. A Series II with hardtop and overdrive was tested by The Motor magazine in 1960, they recorded a top speed of 98.6 mph, acceleration from 0-60 mph in 13.6 seconds and a fuel consumption of 31.0 miles per imperial gallon. Alfa Romeo Spider Alfa Romeo Spider

Alfa Romeo Spider

Lot #105 (Sale Order 5 of 164)

The Alfa Romeo Spider was manufactured from 1966 to 1993 and is widely regarded as a design classic, remaining in production for almost three decades. The three first series were assembled by Pininfarina in Grugliasco and the fourth series in San Giorgio Canavese; this was the last rear wheel drive Alfa Romeo. The Spider underwent a major styling revamp in 1983 which saw the introduction of black rubber front and rear bumpers. The front bumper incorporated the grille and a small soft rubber spoiler was added to the boot lid, which altered the exterior appearance of the car considerably. Various other minor mechanical and aesthetic modifications were also made and the 1600 car dropped the 'Junior' name. The Quadrifoglio Verde (green four-leaf clover) model was introduced in 1986 with many aesthetic tweaks, including side skirts, mirrors, new front and rear spoilers, hard rubber boot mounted spoilers, unique 15 inch alloys and optional removable hardtop. MG B GT

Lot #107 (Sale Order 7 of 164)

The MGB was launched in May 1962 to replace the MGA. Introduced as a four-cylinder roadster, a coupe with 2+2 seating was added in 1965 with production continuing until October 1980. The GT sported a ground-breaking design by Pininfarina with the launch of its fastback styling. By combining the sloping rear window with the rear deck lid, the GT offered the utility of a hatchback whilst retaining the style and shape of a coupe. Acceleration of the GT was slightly slower than that of the Roadster due to its increased weight although top speed was improved by 5mph to 105mph due to better aerodynamics. Maserati 3200 GT Maserati 3200 GT

Maserati 3200 GT

Lot #108 (Sale Order 8 of 164)

The Maserati 3200 GT was styled by Italdesign whose founder and head, Giorgetto Giugiaro, previously designed, amongst others, the Ghibli, Bora and Merak and so certainly had the pedigree behind him. Sold mainly in Europe, the 3200GT shared the twin-turbo 3.2 litre, V8 featured in the Quattroporte IV and Shamal, revised and tuned to 365bhp. The tail lights consisted of LEDs arranged in the shape of a boomerang. The outer layer of the 'boomerang' provided the brake light, with the inner layer providing the directional indicator. Sadly, the U.S. insisted on bulbs and so, as is so often the way, style made way for bureaucracy. Nevertheless, it went on to be a great success until 2007 with the boomerang rear lights being the more desirable.Supplied by Evans Halshaw Maserati on 9th of March 2001, this UK right hand drive Maserati 3200 GT manual is finished in rare Verde Mexico with beige leather and Verde carpets. Specified from new with Briarwood trim, gold clock and sports suspension, this 3200 GT is a real credit to the current owner who has lovingly maintained the car to a high standard with no expense spared. The mileage is supported with a superb service history, service book and a file full of invoices and previous MoT's, all in chronological order. This combined with the original service book, tool kit, V5c registration document and two keys equates to a very good history file. The throttle bodies have been upgraded to contactless and refurbished in 2017 with specialists Maserati Shed and recently the car has undergone a £4,000 service from Maserati Shed which included a 6,000 mile service, an MoT test with no advisories a cambelt change and new suspension arms. In 2015 the car benefitted from a brand new clutch and boasts four new Pirelli tyres. Our vendor spent three months searching for the correct 3200 GT and in the last four years he has lavished over £11,000 on her with new brake lines, suspension arms, anti roll bar drop links, a recent ABS ECU and new clutch. The service history accompanying this car is comprehensive and detailed. The vendor states this vehicle needs to be viewed in order to fully appreciate it and this should inspire the very best of confidence for any bidder. Click here for more information

Triumph Stag Triumph Stag

Triumph Stag

Lot #109 (Sale Order 9 of 164)

Stylish, fast and practical, the Stag began life as a Triumph 2000 based styling exercise by Italian carrossier Giovanni Michelotti. A 2+2 convertible, Michelotti's design featured a quad-lamp grill and sculpted front and rear ends, the latter destined to appear on many future Triumphs. By the time production commenced in 1970, the 2000's six-cylinder engine had been replaced by a three litre V8. A padded, 'T' shaped roll bar bracing the door pillars and windscreen was one of the Stag's most distinctive features and the model was available in soft top, hard top, or soft with hard top formats. Motor Sport described the Stag's interior as, 'well appointed, having all the usual instrumentation one would expect in a high performance car.'This Mk. II example was delivered on 1st March 1974, the first day of the new 'M' registration for years 1974/75. Finished in Mimosa Yellow, with a fully documented repaint in 2010, we are informed the paintwork presents well. From photographs taken during the restoration works it is evident that the car was structurally very solid and a worthy project to work upon. Presented with the original bronze interior with period brown carpets, the hood is in good order as is the original hood mechanism. TPJ 615M is fitted with the desirable 3.0 Ford Essex engine, which was professionally rebuilt and installed in 2010 and has travelled only 2000 miles since. The Ford engine was not only more reliable than the original V8 but also generated slightly more power and is coupled to the desirable manual gearbox. The car has a small history file with numerous old MoT test certificates, recent invoices for servicing, water pump, engine rebuild and repaint amongst many other parts bills this coupled to an MoT test certificate valid until June 2019. This is a great opportunity to own a very British classic that represents great value in the market and is most importantly in excellent usable condition. Click here for more information

Bentley T2 Bentley T2

Bentley T2

Lot #112 (Sale Order 12 of 164)

The Bentley T-Series was the Bentley badged version of the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, available as a four or two door saloon with coachwork by James Young or Mulliner Park Ward. The Bentley differed from its Rolls-Royce equivalent by its more rounded front grille, while the badging on the wheel covers, boot lid and gauges naturally featured Bentley motifs rather than the Rolls-Royce logo. In October 1966, the 'T' saloon's pre-tax 'list price' of £5,375 undercut the Rolls-Royce by £50! The Bentley was technically an identical twin of the Rolls-Royce and seemed to have been purchased mostly by owners wishing for a more understated luxury saloon. The earlier sporting image of Bentley motorcars differing from Rolls-Royces had gone by the time the Silver Shadow/Bentley 'T' was introduced and this was no longer a primary reason to purchase a Bentley over the Rolls-Royce sibling. Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet

Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet

Lot #113 (Sale Order 13 of 164)

In May 1974, Volkswagen presented the first generation Golf as a modern front-wheel drive, long-range replacement for the Volkswagen Beetle. Later Golf variations included the Golf GTI 'hot hatch' introduced in June 1976, a diesel powered version from September 1976, the Jetta notchback saloon in October 1979 and from the end of 1979 the Golf cabriolet built by Karmann. September 1983 saw the introduction of the second generation Volkswagen Golf, the Mk. II, that grew slightly in terms of wheelbase, exterior and interior dimensions while retaining, in a more rounded form, the Mk. I's overall look. There was not a Golf Mk. II based cabriolet model, instead, the Mk. I cabriolet was continued over the Mk. II's entire production run. Karmann, in Osnabrueck, Germany, was until 2009 the largest independent motor vehicle manufacturing company in Germany. For more than a century, they have undertaken various roles, from design to production and assembly of components for various automobile manufacturers including Chrysler, Porsche and the Volkswagen Group. This stunning little cabriolet is offered in complete original factory specification with an automatic gearbox and a mere 18,000 miles from new. Owned previously by a long term lady owner, the GTI aerodynamic body styling is complete with 15 inch polished alloy wheels, sports seats and ABS braking system. It boasts the factory original interior described as unmarked and without wear to the bolsters. This is an Owner's Club member car with genuine history and stamps within its Volkswagen history file and service booklet, it is offered with original factory soft top in great condition and original tonneau cover and rear glass window. A recent oil and filter change is coupled to a new MoT certificate valid until August 2019. In such original condition and with a genuine 18,000 miles from new this is a very desirable Volkswagen. It is sure to attract enthusiasts and collectors but could equally be the perfect Chelsea runabout, an ultra urban chic example with an automatic gearbox. Click here for more information

Rover Mini Moke Rover Mini Moke

Rover Mini Moke

Lot #114 (Sale Order 14 of 164)

The Mini Moke was introduced in 1964 and was designed for the British Motor Corporation (BMC) by Sir Alec Issigonis. The name comes from Mini, the car with which the Moke shares many parts, and Moke, which is an archaic dialect term for donkey. The initial design was a prototype for a light military vehicle in the style of the American Jeep, but its small wheels and low ground clearance made it impractical as an off-road vehicle. It was subsequently offered in a civilian version as a low-cost, easily maintained utility vehicle. In 1990, British Leyland (by then called Rover Group) sold the Moke name to Cagiva, a motorcycle manufacturer in Bologna, Italy. Production continued in Portugal until 1993, when Cagiva transferred the tooling to their factory in Italy with the intention of restarting production in 1995, which they never did. Since Cagiva did not own the Mini name, the 1,500 cars they built were sold simply as Mokes. This brought the total production run of Mokes and Moke derivatives to about 50,000. Porsche 968 Convertible Porsche 968 Convertible

Porsche 968 Convertible

Lot #116 (Sale Order 16 of 164)

The Porsche 968 was manufactured from 1992 to 1995. It was the final evolution of a line of water-cooled front-engined rear wheel drive models that begun almost 20 years earlier with the 924. Like the 944, the 968 was sold as both a coupe and a convertible. The 968's basic styling was an evolution on that of the outgoing 944, itself based on the earlier 924. In an attempt to create a 'family resemblance' between models and associate it with the luxury 928 Gran Turismo, elements were borrowed from its upscale sibling. Others included a swooping headlamp design inspired by the 959 later incorporated in the 993 911. The 968 was powered by an updated version of the 944's 3.0 litre straight-four engine, producing 237 bhp. Changes to the 968's powertrain also included the addition of Porsche's then-new VarioCam variable valve timing system, newly optimized induction and exhaust systems, a dual-mass flywheel and updated engine management electronics. Both the VarioCam timing system and Tiptronic transmission were very recent developments for Porsche, first introduced on the 968 and would later become a feature of the Type 993 air-cooled six-cylinder engine. Austin 1100 Mk. I Austin 1100 Mk. I

Austin 1100 Mk. I

Lot #117 (Sale Order 17 of 164)

In 1962, a quite revolutionary new saloon was launched by BMC at the same time as the brand new MGB. Initially wearing the Morris badge, ADO16 was hot from the drawing boards of Alec Issigonis and Pininfarina. Offered in many guises by Innocenti, Morris, Riley, Wolseley, Vanden Plas and Austin, the AD016 was truly universal in its appeal. In line with BMC's policy at the time, Austin badged versions of the ADO16 were built at Longbridge, whilst Morris and MG versions were assembled at Cowley. The original Mk. I models were distinctive for their use of a Hydrolastic suspension. Marketing material highlighted the spacious cabin when compared to competitors such as the Ford Anglia, Vauxhall Viva HA and BMC's own still popular Morris Minor. Unlike almost all of its competitors, the AD016 featured front-wheel drive instead of the rear-wheel drive. The Mk. I Austin/Morris 1100 was available, initially, only as a four-door saloon. This little early Austin 1100 is in original condition throughout and presented in the correct factory colour specification of black with contrasting red interior. The car remains unrestored with the original paintwork still present. Registered new in 1965, it remained with its first owner in Canterbury, Kent a vicars wife for three years before being sold to its second owner who was a local employee of Barratts of Canterbury, an Austin main dealer. The second long term owner stored the car in a garage within the walls of Canterbury Cathedral from 1968 until they passed in 2013. Click here for more information

Bentley T2 Bentley T2

Bentley T2

Lot #118 (Sale Order 18 of 164)

In 1965, Bentley Motors, well aware that the S series had become dated and a little hard to distinguish from their Rolls-Royce stablemates, set about changing this perception. An opinion shared by Archie Vicar in the Motorist's Illustrated Digest, December 1965. The same correspondent gave the car a favourable review, especially in comparison to its Rolls-Royce stablemate. Unveiled in 1965, the entirely new T range with a specification to silence even the most vociferous of critics was a success. Introduced with a range of engineering upgrades to give a car of very advanced technical specification and with every effort to reduce vibration; harmonic dampers were fitted to the propeller shaft and the entire engine, gearbox and rear suspension were mounted on their own sub frame, with the final drive unit carried on a flexibly mounted cross member. Each car underwent two thirty-mile road tests before delivery. Craftsmen continued to use beautiful veneers, together with traditional deep pile Wilton carpet and leather upholstery, using eight hides to a car and even built in quadraphonic sound! Yet beneath the sleek exterior, performance was remarkable. The T2 introduced in 1977 is the evolution of the original saloon model. These later series cars offer a higher level of specification and numerous improvements which include a larger engine of 6.75 litres and revised suspension, brakes and steering, with only 568 produced. Introduced in early 1971, this impressive two-seater sports car replaced the 280 SL. As with the previous generations of SL's, the vehicle came as an open roadster with a removable hardtop roof. The R107 body shape went on to become one of the longest running styles from Mercedes-Benz, remaining in production until 1989 with some 13 variants during the production run. This delightful example of Mercedes-Benz's 'Little Black Dress' is presented in metallic Silver with matching blue interior complete with new carpet set. The W116 was Mercedes-Benz flagship luxury sedan produced from September 1972 until 1980. The W116 were the first Mercedes-Benz models to be officially called the S-Class, although earlier sedan models had already unofficially been designated with the letter 'S' Ð for Sonderklasse or 'special class'.The car was presented in September 1972. The model range initially included two versions of the M110 engine a straight-six with 2746cc, the 280 S and the 280 SE, plus the 350 SE, powered by the V8 with 3.5 litre engine which naturally was more desirable to those driving a flagship Mercedes-Benz.This silver with contrasting blue trim example was first registered in August 1974, receipts in the history file lead us to believe this example was restored between 1998 and 2000 with numerous Mercedes-Benz invoices for parts and has since been looked after by a number of Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts. Mercedes-Benz E220 Sportline Convertible Mercedes-Benz E220 Sportline Convertible

Mercedes-Benz E220 Sportline Convertible

Lot #123 (Sale Order 23 of 164)

Mercedes-Benz introduced the 'E-Class' to the market in 1985 with the cabriolet version available from 1991. The W124 series was designed to last many miles with awards actually presented and received for high mileage versions. Much of the 124's engineering and many of its features were advanced automotive technology, incorporating innovations that have been adopted throughout the industry. It had one of the lowest drag coefficients of any vehicle at the time due to its aerodynamic body which included plastic moulding for the undercarriage to streamline airflow beneath the car reducing fuel consumption and wind noise. It had a single windscreen wiper that had an eccentric mechanism at its base extending the wiper's reach to the top corners of the windscreen. The coupes and convertibles had optional rear headrests that would fold down remotely to improve rearward visibility when required. Click here for more information

Lancia Aprilia Lusso Lancia Aprilia Lusso

Lancia Aprilia Lusso

Lot #124 (Sale Order 24 of 164)

Lovely Lancia Aprilia Lusso eligible to do VSCC events The Lancia Aprilia was the final car developed by Vincenzo Lancia and entered production on the month of his death. The design was highly advanced with production running from 1937 through to 1950. Innovative features included a steel monocoque construction, four pillarless doors, a narrow V4 overhead cam engine, four-wheel independent suspension and powerful hydraulic drum brakes. The model was successful in competition in period and continues to be a regular winner in the pre-war class in tough endurance events. The Aprilia is a wonderful balance of engineering excellence, pedigree and practicality. This 1938 Lancia Aprilia Lusso has had seven former keepers in its long history and was used as daily transport for a retired nurse in Edinburgh through the 1980’s. It was then laid up until it was bought at auction in 2008 as a running restoration project. The engineer who purchased the car set about rebuilding the mechanical components while the bodywork was repaired and treated to SRL rust prevention before repainting and re-assembling. At the time, the red interior was refreshed with new leather and a grey roof lining. The vehicle was then wisely converted to a 12 volt electrical system during restoration but could early be reverted back should the new owner wish to compete in VSCC events. In early 2010, the servicing and mechanical was carried out by marque specialist, Omicron Engineering. Purchased by the current owner in 2015, the car benefits from new carpets, a new cigarette lighter and the tyres were changed in 2015. Further works in 2015 have included interior trimming, new door stops, rubbers and weather seals for doors, windows and boot. This Lancia would benefit from some further time and financial investment. The car attended some local events such as the RAC Consistency trial in 2015 and 2016 and various Lancia pub meet ups. With prices of its big brother, the Aurelia, now into six figures, the Aprilia represents remarkable value for such an effective, practical and technically important motor car. Porsche 911 2.7 S Porsche 911 2.7 S

Porsche 911 2.7 S

Lot #125 (Sale Order 25 of 164)

The original Porsche 911, with its famous and durable design, was introduced in the Autumn of 1963 and built until 1989. From its inception, the 911 was modified both by private racing teams and the Porsche factory itself for racing, rallying and other competition. The original 911 series is often cited as the most successful sports/racing car ever, especially when its variations are included; namely the powerful 911-derived 935 which won Le Mans as well as other major sports cars races. In 1967, Porsche introduced the 911T model and subsequently a 911E version; however the 911S was the most desirable and with only 3,174 Porsche 911S's manufactured, good quality surviving examples are rare and highly collectable. Fiat X1/9 VS Fiat X1/9 VS

Fiat X1/9 VS

Lot #126 (Sale Order 26 of 164)

The Fiat X1/9 is a two-seater designed by Bertone and manufactured by Fiat from 1972-1982. Bertone subsequently took the lead from 1982-1989 and, in 1982, shortly after the introduction of the 1500 model, complete production was assumed by Bertone with models from this point forward badged as the Bertone X1/9. With a transverse engine and gearbox in a mid-mounted, rear-wheel drive configuration, the X1/9 was noted for its excellent handling and lightweight, removable hardtop. It succeeded a 1969 show concept car called the Autobianchi Runabout (with styling by Bertone under chief designer Marcello Gandini) and, unlike Fiat's marketing nomenclature at the time; the X1/9 retained its prototype code as its marketing name. This outstanding Fiat X1/9 was originally supplied by Clover Leaf Cars in Basingstoke on 1st March 1984 at a cost of £6,772.28, extras included the fitment of mudflaps and a stereo system according to the original invoice from Clover Leaf. Finished in the original colour combination of red/black with black interior, this Fiat has a full history folder confirming the low mileage of 19,504. The vendor has used the Fiat very little since acquiring the car, preferring to keep the car in his heated garage along with other cars in his collection. However, he has started the car regularly and informs us she runs very well. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 24th July 2019 together with a magnificent history folder, original handbooks and spare keys. This Fiat X1/9 is formerly the property of Fergus Powell, the founder member of the X1/9 Owners Club and is surely one of the best examples available anywhere today. Viewing in person is strongly recommended. Click here for more information

Triumph TR3A Triumph TR3A

Triumph TR3A

Lot #128 (Sale Order 28 of 164)

The Triumph TR3 was built between 1955 and 1957 by Standard-Triumph in the United Kingdom, during which time only 1,286 cars were produced for the home market. According to the TR Register, as of 2002, there remain only 893 registered TR3/3A's on UK roads. Although it was usually supplied as an open two-seater, an occasional rear seat and bolt on steel hard top were available as extras. The four-speed manual transmission could be supplemented by an overdrive unit on the top three ratios, electrically operated and controlled by a switch on the dash. In 1956, the front brakes changed from drum to disc, becoming the first British series production car to be so fitted. Because of these disc brakes, the TR3 and subsequent TR3A's became known for their superior braking ability, making it an autocross favourite. In 1957, the TR3 was replaced by an updated version, the TR3A. Updates included new wide front grille, exterior door handles, lockable boot handle and came with a full tool kit as standard. Throughout the 1960's it was not Ferrari or Lamborghini that had the beach front kudos in Cannes or St Tropez but the plucky Fiat Jolly. Mercedes-Benz CL 600 Bi-Turbo Coupe Mercedes-Benz CL 600 Bi-Turbo Coupe

Mercedes-Benz CL 600 Bi-Turbo Coupe

Lot #132 (Sale Order 32 of 164)

The CL-Class is the coupe derivative of the S-Class luxury saloon with the V8 and V12 coupes called the 500 SEC and 600 SEC respectively. In 1994, the model names were changed to the S500 Coupe and the S600. Without venturing into the AMG range, the new CL offered the most powerful of all models, the 5.5 litre, V12, bi-turbo CL600. If you want the best, this is it. It introduced the refined active body control; fully active suspension and bi-xenon HID lights. The ABS system is hellishly complex but, using suspension rams, regulators and enough computer technology to power the space shuttle; it keeps this car absolutely flat through the corners.Aside from the tech under the bonnet, the main focus is on customer comfort; climate control, TV, heated and cooled (and massaging) seats, powered door and boot closing, heated steering wheel and plumbed in telephony. In 2003, the CL 600 had two turbochargers added but still achieved, almost effortlessly, ghost-like quietness. Originally acquired new in 2004 by Mr. Martin Pollins, it was looked after by Mercedes-Benz with invoices to show. Later, in 2008, it passed to Ray Stamp with regular visits to Mercedes-Benz specialists for servicing and repairs when required. Mr. Stamp used and enjoyed this luxurious motorcar right up until this year. If you can find one of these cars, the prices vary but with good examples, like this one, often exceeding the estimate show here today. The optional extras requested run into double figures and includes the items listed above as well as double glazing of course. The condition is excellent from top to bottom and all systems and features are fully operational. Supplied with a fresh MoT test certificate and extensive paperwork, this is ready to be driven away from the sale and, given the reliability of these expertly-built machines, to Australia and back. MG B Roadster

Lot #133 (Sale Order 33 of 164)

The MGB was launched in May 1962 to replace the MGA. Introduced as a four-cylinder roadster, a coupe with 2+2 seating was added in 1965. The MGB was a relatively modern design at the time of its introduction, utilising a monocoque structure instead of the traditional 'body-on-frame' construction used on both the MGA and T-types. The lightweight design reduced manufacturing costs while adding to overall vehicle strength. Wind-up windows were standard and a comfortable driver's compartment offered plenty of legroom. The MGB's performance was considered brisk at the time of its introduction with a 0-60mph time of just over 11 seconds aided by the relatively light weight of the car. Triumph TR6 Triumph TR6

Triumph TR6

Lot #135 (Sale Order 35 of 164)

To modernise the Triumph TR5 that had evolved from the Michelotti designed TR4, Triumph looked to produce a new modern body. Triumph commissioned Karmann of Germany but the task was difficult as Karmann had to produce a new body style whilst retaining much of the original structure. The restyle included a new nose, wings and a new tail. The TR6 and was produced between 1969 and 1976. The home market TR6 initially produced 150bhp but was later detuned to 125bhp. Due to their greater power output, the early models are sought after amongst the Triumph enthusiasts.Delivered on 23rd October 1973, this very original Triumph TR6 is finished in Pimento Red over a black interior with red carpet which is arguably the most desirable colour combination. Complete with working overdrive, the bodywork is good, the panel gaps on the rear panel and scuttle are all still visible and uniform. The car remains unrestored and, although repainted in the past, retains that originality that is so often lost when stripped down and rebuilt with non-factory parts. The interior is correct to factory specification, the seats are in great order and the car is offered with both half and full tonneau covers. The history file contains the original handbook, old MoT's, tax discs and service invoice history dating back to 1987 when the previous owner purchased the car and maintained the history from then on for over 25 years. It has a current MoT test certificate valid until August 2019, importantly with no advisories. Recent mechanical works include an oil and filter service and the fitment of a new metering unit to the PI system. The period correct deep dish wheels are in very good order, as is the chrome trim surrounds and the recently fitted new Pirelli Cinturatos tyres. One of the most original TR6'S available, a genuine right hand drive UK supplied example with good history. Click here for more information

Lot #136 (Sale Order 36 of 164)

FORMERLY THE PROPERTY OF SIR BARRY GIBB OF THE BEE GEES Mercedes-Benz introduced the W123 four-door versions in January 1976 and while there were some technical similarities to their predecessors, the new models were larger in wheelbase and exterior dimensions. The styling was also updated, although stylistic links with the W115 were maintained. Initially, all models except 280/280E featured quad unequal-size round headlights and the latter large rectangular units. In 1980/81 the carburetted 280 versions went out of production and the fuel-injected 280E continued to be offered. In September 1982, all models received a mild facelift which included the rectangular headlights, previously fitted only to the 280/280E which were standardized across the board as was power steering. Since February 1982, an optional five-speed manual transmission was available in all models. Optional extras included MB-Tex upholstery, velour or leather upholstery, interior wood trim, passenger side exterior mirror, five-speed manual gearbox, four-speed automatic gearbox, electric windows, vacuum powered central locking, sun roof, air conditioning, climate control, Alpine horn, headlamp wipers, cruise control, power steering, seat heating, catalytic converter for the US markets and later European models. Power assisted disc brakes were standard on all W123s.This very good, low mileage, 1982 Mercedes-Benz 280 TE Estate finished in Chamonix White with black half leather interior was supplied with electric windows, central locking, air conditioning and Mercedes mudflaps. Purchased by Sir Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees in 1988, it remained with the Gibb's family for 20 years. The odometer is reading 33,300 miles but the speedo was replaced after a few thousand miles which is documented in the history. In very good order inside and out, recent work carried out include refurbished sills, new headlight lens, re-upholstered drivers' seat, new Alpine speaker system, a Pioneer under seat sub-woofer and a period style radio head unit. This 280 TE has recently been featured in Classic & Sportscar magazine's 'Giant Test' which was arranged by model expert Mark Cosovic of W123 World. The car is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in September 2019, the original service book with the owners manuals and a file containing service bills and old MoT test certificates going back to 1989 when in the Gibb's family ownership. 1965 Sunbeam Rapier ‘Works Style’

Lot #137 (Sale Order 37 of 164)

This ‘Works Style’ built Sunbeam Rapier was manufactured during December 1965 and was not registered until 1967. The first owner was, Betty Haig, who was not only the great niece of Field Marshall The Earl Haig, but was also an accomplished racing, hill-climb and rally driver in her own right. She won an Olympic Medal in her first pre-war rally, in Germany, with an 11/2-litre six-cylinder Singer, and then won outright the Paris-St Raphaël Feminin Rally in her PB MG. After the war she won the Ladies' Cup and her class in the 1948 Alpine Trial in an AC. She drove an experimental Monte Carlo Rally in an Morris Minor with Elsie Wisdom and Barbara Marshall, and won the 11/2-litre class in the very tough 1949 Alpine Trial with a works TC MG. Betty also drove her HRG to a class-win in a Swiss hill-climb, changed to a Healey-Silverstone, raced a Cooper-JAP and a vee-twin Cooper 1000, drove the highest placed foreign car, a Triumph TR2, in the 1952 San Remo Rally, raced her AC Ace at Goodwood and Brands Hatch, a Turner in Italy and took Ladies' Cups at Prescott and Shelsley Walsh with a Lotus Eleven. She was also successful with the TT MG Magnette she raced at Goodwood and Silverstone, gaining a Coupe de Vitesse with an Austin-Healey 100 inn later Paris-St Raphaël Rally, and breaking the Ladies' record at Prescott in a Lotus 23. During the 1951 Le Mans 24 hours, Betty and Yvonne Simon managed to finish 15th in a Ferrari 166 MM Berlinetta. Her road cars included a number of Porsches and later, this Sunbeam Rapier. In more recent years, this Rapier has been prepared, specifically, for regularity rallying, and has an impressive specification. The 1725cc engine was built by Chris Draycott and produced, according to the rolling road printout, 125bhp and 145lbft of torque. Fuel is provided from the twin electric fuel pumps (switchable), from the large capacity alloy fuel tank via the twin 40DCOE Weber carburettors, whilst a specially prepared overdrive gearbox sends drive to the wheels via a Gripper 4.22:1 limited slip differential. The brakes have been uprated with pipework routed through the interior, Aeroquip hoses and a fly-off handbrake. The interior is well equipped with a Moto-Lita steering wheel, a pair of speedometers, one, registering mph and another in km (not fitted), a Brantz International 2 trip meter, a pair of stopwatches, rally seats, Luke full harness belts, plumbed-in and hand held fire extinguishers and the standard rev counter, auxiliary gauges and a fuse and relay board. The coachwork presents well whilst the underside (note the sump guard fitted), is also in good order and is protected by a coating of wax. The car sits upon a set of Minilite alloy wheels with two spare Minilite wheels stored within the boot; all are fitted with excellent Avon tyres. We are informed that the Rapier, starts easily, drives and handles very well, is surprisingly quick and always draws interest wherever she goes. This UK registered Sunbeam Rapier has an MoT test certificate valid until May 2019, with that, its FIVA and MSA papers, its impressive specification and equipment, what rally shall a lucky new owner enter? Ford Capri 2.8i Special

Lot #138 (Sale Order 38 of 164)

The Ford Capri was the Ford Mustang of Europe. A mind boggling array of options meant that the Capri could be whatever you wanted it to be, just like the Mustang. The Capri was, in fact, a far more varied animal than the Mustang with engines ranging from 1300cc to 3100cc as well as a myriad of trim specifications. The Capri was released to the press on 24th January 1969 at the Brussels Motor Show and caused a sensation. For the 1982 model year, a new sporty version debuted at the Geneva Motor Show called the 2.8 Injection. Power rose to a claimed 160bhp giving a top speed of 130mph. The Capri 2.8 Injection breathed new life into the range with the four-speed gearbox replaced with a five-speed unit early on and at the same, in 1984, upgrading to the Capri Injection 'Special' using half leather seating and a limited slip differential. Externally, the car could be easily distinguished by seven spoke RS wheels and colour-coded grille and headlamp surrounds. Click here for more information

Ford Focus RS Ford Focus RS

Ford Focus RS

Lot #143 (Sale Order 43 of 164)

The Focus is a compact car designed under Alex Trotman's Ford 2000 plan, which aimed to globalize model development and sell one compact vehicle worldwide, the Focus was primarily designed by Ford of Europe's German and British teams. The second generation Focus RS is the Focus that Ford originally claimed it was unlikely to manufacturer, however they did and the latest 'Hot hatch' was born. One of the most controversial aspects of the car was its drivetrain, which remained front, not four-wheel drive. After awarding the car five stars, this is what the team at Auto Express had to say about the new Ford Focus RS when launched: ÒThe engineers have done an amazing job. It's got storming performance, amazing handling and grip, but also real character thanks to that charismatic five-cylinder engine.ÓOriginally registered on 1st September 2010 this immaculate Focus RS is finished in the striking colour of Ultimate Green and has only covered 28,000 miles from new. Mercedes-Benz SL 320 Roadster Mercedes-Benz SL 320 Roadster

Mercedes-Benz SL 320 Roadster

Lot #144 (Sale Order 44 of 164)

Unveiled at the March 1989 Geneva Motor Show, the new Mercedes-Benz R129-series SL range was beautifully engineered. Based around a two-door monocoque bodyshell, its sophisticated, all-round independent suspension (double-wishbone front/five-link rear) was augmented by a host of active and passive safety features including electronic stability control, ventilated ABS disc brakes, adaptive-damping shock absorbers, front airbags and an integral rollover bar that deployed in less than a third of a second if the car ever sensed an impending flip. Suitably cosseting, the convertible's impeccably built cabin was a fully automated power hood and featured such advancements as memory seats, electric windows/mirrors and an adjustable steering column. Yet lurking beneath all the luxury and refinement was a performance orientated sports car. Click here for more information

Porsche 356 B (T6) Coupe Porsche 356 B (T6) Coupe

Porsche 356 B (T6) Coupe

Lot #145 (Sale Order 45 of 164)

This stunning Porsche 356 coupe rolled off the production line on 21st February 1962. It was finished in the rare and highly desirable colour combination of Champagne Yellow with green faux leather and corduroy inlays. Champagne Yellow was a new colour offered for the first time in 1962 and set the tone for the 1960s movement, the only interior colours available to contrast this were only green or black. A European specification example it first delivered to Bologna, Italy. In its stunning colour combination it would have certainly rustled the feathers of its local rivals, Ferrari and Lamborghini, before finding its way across the Atlantic to the Porsche friendly state of California, USA, in the 1970s where it was adorned with the blue plate registration '356 6T2'. Porsche 911S Targa Porsche 911S Targa

Porsche 911S Targa

Lot #146 (Sale Order 46 of 164)

The original Porsche 911, with its famous and durable design, was introduced in the Autumn of 1963 and built until 1989. From its inception, the 911 was modified both by private racing teams and the Porsche factory itself for racing, rallying and other competitions. The original 911 series is often cited as the most successful sports/racing car ever, especially when its variations included the powerful 911 derived 935 which won Le Mans, as well as other major sports cars races. In 1967, Porsche introduced the 911T model and subsequently a 911E version, however the 911S was the most desirable and with only 3,174 Porsche 911S's manufactured, good quality surviving examples are rare and highly collectable. This original, low mileage and well preserved classic fuel injected Porsche 911 2.7 S is finished in vibrant red coachwork together with a beautiful black interior and red stitching. The car had been lovingly owned by Captain Bob Stanell in California from new, due to ill health he sold his collection in late 2015. Presented with just 35,521 miles on the odometer and accompanied by a comprehensively stamped and original service booklet, this car was snapped up by our vendor who wanted a dry, rust free low mileage example for his collection, thus OBA 598P found its way to the leafy Surrey suburbs. Our vendor has since lavished circa £15,000 with specialist Eporsch in Bisley, Surrey, predominantly on mechanical work which enabled the car to be returned to European specification and included a top end engine rebuild. All invoices for the work can be found within the cars history file including the most recent service in November 2017, also accompanying this is an MoT test certificate valid until August 2019. This example is a true reflection of its low mileage and indeed a very desirable 911S. The interior is as new, the Targa roof has been restored and the car represents a genuine collectors example competitively priced with fabulous coachwork. Click here for more information

Alvis TD21 Drophead Coupe Alvis TD21 Drophead Coupe

Alvis TD21 Drophead Coupe

Lot #147 (Sale Order 47 of 164)

The Alvis TD21 was a British sporting car made by Alvis cars between 1958 and 1963. It was an updated version of the TC 108G with body construction by Park Ward who at the time were better able to supply them to the quantity, quality and price required. The cars were built slightly taller and a drophead coupe was added to the range. The 2993 cc engine was uprated, mainly by an improved cylinder head and increasing the compression ration from 8.0:1 to 8.5:1. A new four speed gearbox from the Austin-Healey appeared. Overdrive was available on the manual transmission from late 1960 to 1962. Suspension was similar to the TC 21, independent at the front using coil springs with leaf springs at the rear and a front anti roll bar added. Wire spoked wheels became an option. From 1959 the all drum brake set up was changed to discs at the front retaining drums at the rear. A car with manual transmission was tested by the British magazine The Motor in 1960 and had a top speed of 103 mph and could accelerate from 0-60 mph in 13.5 seconds. Click here for more information

Fiat 500L

Lot #148 (Sale Order 48 of 164)

The Fiat 500 was produced between 1957 and 1975 with limited production of the Fiat 500 K estate continuing until 1977. Despite its diminutive size, the 500 proved to be an enormously practical and popular car throughout Europe capturing the hearts and minds of the public. Launched as the Nuova 500, it was marketed as a cheap and practical town car. They only measured three metres long and were originally powered by a tiny 479cc two-cylinder, air-cooled engine, the 500 redefined the term 'small car' and is considered one of the first city cars. The 'L' or Lussopenultimate model like the one offered here today, was produced between 1968 and 1972 and featured a much modernised interior including a renewed dashboard which brought the car up to date. Greater comfort and style were provided in this new model for the new generation. Click here for more information

Talbot Sunbeam Lotus Talbot Sunbeam Lotus

Talbot Sunbeam Lotus

Lot #149 (Sale Order 49 of 164)

In the mid-1970s, the British automotive industry was in crisis, marred by bad management, frequent strikes and decreasing competitiveness compared to the increasingly successful Japanese automakers. It took its toll on Chrysler UK, which was the name given to the former Rootes Group after its takeover by the US based Chrysler Corporation. In particular, the Linwood facility was generating losses due to many reasons, including under-utilised capacity. The Talbot Sunbeam-Lotus was one of the most exciting hot hatchbacks to emerge from the 1970s. Chrysler originally commissioned Lotus Engineering to produce an effective entrant for international Group 4 rallying to compete with the dominant Ford Escort RSs and this required that Talbot produced an appropriate road car for homologation reasons. Lotus took a 1.6GLS shell, installed a 2.2-litre version of the Lotus 16-valve four-cylinder engine and a five-speed ZF gearbox, and the Talbot Sunbeam Lotus was born. Lotus Excel Lotus Excel

Lotus Excel

Lot #150 (Sale Order 50 of 164)

Launched in October 1982, the Excel received two major upgrades during its 10 year production run. With the introduction of the Excel SE, a 180bhp engine, versus the standard 160bhp engined car. In October 1985, the bumpers, wing and interior were changed, including a new dashboard. In October 1986 the Excel SA with automatic gearbox was introduced. Further facelifts in 1989 saw Citroën derived mirrors, as featured on the Esprit, and 15 inch OZ alloy wheels to a similar pattern as the Esprit's. Toyota engaged Lotus to assist with engineering work on the Supra. During this period, Toyota became a major shareholder in Lotus, later giving up their holding when General Motors bought Lotus.Part of the deal between Lotus and Toyota included the use of many Toyota mechanical components in Lotus' cars. The original Excel (aka the Eclat Excel) used the W58 manual transmission, driveshafts, rear differential, 14x7 inch alloy wheels, and door handles from the Supra Mk. II, which was made from 1982 to 1986. The engine was the familiar all aluminium, DOHC 2.2 L Lotus 912 slant-4 engine used in the Lotus Esprit S3. Click here for more information

Peugeot 504 Monte Carlo Cabriolet Peugeot 504 Monte Carlo Cabriolet

Peugeot 504 Monte Carlo Cabriolet

Lot #151 (Sale Order 51 of 164)

The Peugeot 504 was the company's flagship model and was revealed at the Paris Salon in 1968. The original release date of the car was delayed due to industrial and political disputes that raged across France at the time. The original car was a four-door saloon that came with a sunroof as standard. The engine was a petrol four-cylinder unit that delivered 79 bhp. Most of these early cars came with a carburettor though there was the option of fuel injection. The four-speed manual gearbox had a column mounted change, although this could be upgraded into the three-speed automatic transmission. In 1969, the Peugeot 504 was voted car of the year and won the accolade due to its excellent styling, performance and reliability. It was this year that the 504 Cabriolet and the 504 Coupe were introduced, styled by the Italian coachbuilder Pininfarina, they were debuted at the Geneva Motor Show. Both the 504 Cabriolet and the 504 Coupe received an engine that was more powerful in 1974, the two models were fitted with the V6 2664 cc engine that was developed in collaboration with Renault and Volvo. The V6 engine was phased out of the Cabriolet in 1977 and all later examples reverted to the injected 'four'. Finally, the 2-litre engine got a five-speed gearbox. Then, from October 1981, there was a new 'Monte Carlo' dashboard. Production finished in 1983. Click here for more information

BMW Alpina B12 Long Wheelbase

Lot #152 (Sale Order 52 of 164)

Alpina was established in 1965, pre-dated by its founder, Burkard Bovensiepen, using his skills to produce tuning kits for a range of car brands, including BMW. Today Alpina, a vehicle manufacturer in its own right and still a family firm, guided by Bovensiepen and his sons, Andreas and Florian - continues to enjoy close co-operation with BMW. Based on the BMW 750i and 750iL, Alpina released the B12 5.7 in 1995 and the B12 6.0 in 1999. In contrast to the cars they are based on, these models are not electronically limited to a top speed of 155 mph, but reach top speeds of more than 174 mph and 181 mph respectively. According to Alpina the B12 5.7 was the world's first vehicle with an electrically heated metal catalyst as standard and produced 387bhp. Just 296 B12'S were produced; 202 5.7 litre examples and 94 6.0 litre cars, rarer still were long wheelbase examples. Click here for more information

AC Cobra by Dax Tojiero

Lot #153 (Sale Order 53 of 164)

The hugely charismatic DAX Cobra has remained the undisputed market leader for more than 25 years and has steadily established itself as a much sought after classic sports car in its own right. The car's enduring popularity owes much to DAX's policy of continual product improvement and painstaking attention to detail. A number of engine choices have been used from the small-block Chevrolet V8 to other popular engines including units from the Ford small block and all-aluminium Chevrolet LS ranges with Rover V8 and Jaguar units also proving highly popular. It is no exaggeration to say that these cars amaze all who go out in them; harnessing the power with consummate ease and providing levels of grip, composure and ride comfort that simply have to be experienced to be believed. Even Jonathan Palmer was heard to say, 'Wow, that's just staggering!' when taking the new DAX demonstrator for a few laps around Brands Hatch; great praise indeed from an ex-F1 driver! Jaguar E-Type Series III Fixedhead Coupe Jaguar E-Type Series III Fixedhead Coupe

Jaguar E-Type Series III Fixedhead Coupe

Lot #154 (Sale Order 54 of 164)

The Jaguar E-Type was ten years old and needed a new lease of life. History repeated itself and it was a huge success when Jaguar debuted its robust V12 engine in a sports car instead of the saloon for which it was designed. Despite its sports car heritage, Jaguar depended on saloon vehicles for its survival and had developed the twelve-cylinder engine to power them with sufficient torque and refinement. Larger and softer in nature with weight redistributed 53/47, the Series III had lost the wilds of its youth but gained the long-legged touring profile to which it was arguably better suited. Robert Bell in Motor was quoted as saying at the time that ""all we expected to try was a new engine, but what in fact we drove was a new car. Not a yowling, aggressive Ferrari like machine with which, perhaps, most people associate a V12 engine, but a very smooth, quiet and refined grand touring sports car"". Volkswagen Beach Buggy by Kombat Volkswagen Beach Buggy by Kombat

Volkswagen Beach Buggy by Kombat

Lot #155 (Sale Order 55 of 164)

For Beach Buggies built on the chassis of an existing vehicle, the Volkswagen Beetle was commonly used as the basis for the buggy. The Beetle platform was used because the rear engine layout improves traction, the air-cooled engine avoids the complexities and failure points associated with a water-cooled engines. The front suspension was considered cheap and robust and the spare parts from Volkswagen were cheap and readily available. Beach Buggies with glass-reinforced plastic (fiberglass) bodies come in many shapes and sizes. The original fiberglass Beach Buggy was the 1964 'Meyers Manx' built by Bruce Meyers. Many other companies worldwide have copied the original fiberglass Beach Buggy. This Beach Buggy is based on a 1300 Beetle that was originally registered on 4th January 1971 and was converted into its current format by Kombat. We are advised by the vendor that she runs well and is great fun to drive. The engine starts 'on the button' and the gearbox operates smoothly and correctly. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 22nd May 2019 this Beach Buggy is offered for sale without reserve. Click here for more information

Lada Granta FIA TC1 WTCC Works Factory Race Car

Lot #156 (Sale Order 56 of 164)

This Genuine FIA TC1 WTCC Works Factory Race Car/Rolling Chassis was the original works car for the 2014 season driven by Touring Car driver James Thompson who drove for Lada between 2009 and 2015. In 2014 Thompson finished 15th in the Championship standings scoring 22 points behind his team mate Robert Huff with the Team Lada Sport finishing a respectable 3rd in the Constructors' Championship. The sister car driven by Huff can still be found in a museum which is where this example presided until purchased by our vendor. The new TC1 class introduced for 2014 was very different to the previous year's S2000 class with large changes to aero, bodywork and engines resulting in teams spending double or in some cases four times the cost to build. In this instance, we are informed Lada Sport spent in excess of €500,000 just on the TC1 chassis in order to compete let alone the added expense for the engines; when complete the cars weighed in at only 1100kg and needed ballast to make the minimum weight to race.We are pleased to offer this rolling shell with the wiring loom present and correct and with the original steering wheel valued at over £5,000 alone! A genuine factory works TC1 car and importantly not a privateer effort, this car has the original FIA Passport barcode and label present and correct. Offered without the 2014 engine, gearbox or accompanying race seats which were retained by the works team this is an exciting opportunity to buy a very special recent works racing car with huge potential to build into a very competitive race, track or hillclimb car. Viewing is strongly recommended to appreciate the level of simply incredible detail; the specification is extensive and very different to the cheaper BTCC or similar national championship cars. The Caterham Seven Sprint is the latest in a long and incredibly varied line of models and was launched at the Goodwood Revival in September 2017. Aston Martin DB5 Aston Martin DB5

Aston Martin DB5

Lot #160 (Sale Order 60 of 164)

There was a certain innocence to product placement in the early sixties. Incorporating a brand or product into a movie probably just seemed like a good idea at the time. Eon Productions - having been spurned by Jaguar - turned their attentions to Aston Martin to provide the 'daily driver' for MI6 agent, James Bond... the rest is more than just history. To many observers the Aston Martin DB5 is the epitome of the company's models during the David Brown era, boasting both beauty and refined high performance. It is also perhaps the best known Aston Martin in the world, having starred in the James Bond films Goldfinger and Thunderball, complete with machine guns and other gadgetry. In evolution terms the DB5 is a Series V DB4 but with a 4.0 rather than 3.7 litre engine, its coachwork embodying detail changes; it thus featured similar stunning styling from Touring of Milan, incorporating DB4 GT-style faired-in headlamps, with aluminium panels attached to a lightweight steel frame using Touring's Superleggera method of construction. Underneath the platform chassis used independent coil spring wishbone front suspension with a live rear axle located by Watt linkage and parallel trailing arms. Following its launch in July 1963 in saloon and convertible forms the DB5 received much praise, not least for its performance. A maximum of 148mph in standard trim, allied to 0-60 and 0-100mph in 7.1 and 16.9 seconds respectively, made the DB5 one of the fastest cars available and a match for the very best from Europe. Its production, however, was fairly short-lived, ending in September 1965 after 1,021 had been manufactured. Click here for more information

Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider

Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider

Lot #161 (Sale Order 61 of 164)

With the introduction of the Giulietta in 1954, Alfa Romeo established the 'small car, big performance' formula that would characterise its finest offerings from that point on. The Giulietta's arrival caused a sensation; demand quickly outstripped supply, causing Alfa Romeo to rethink its production strategy and become a high volume manufacturer. Designed by Pininfarina on a modified Sprint coupechassis, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider was the company's second post-war model. The little two seat Sports Spider was introduced in 1955 at the insistence of New York importer Max Hoffman, who saw how well small British and German sports cars were being received in America. The Giulietta Spider offered brisk performance (almost 100 mph) from its free revving, all alloy, 1.3 litre twin-cam four, mounted in a steel unibody chassis that weighed less than 1900lbs at the curb. The design was unmistakably Pininfarina exuding elegance and sophistication. Click here for more information

Ferrari 250GT Pinin Farina Coupe Series I Ferrari 250GT Pinin Farina Coupe Series I

Ferrari 250GT Pinin Farina Coupe Series I

Lot #163 (Sale Order 63 of 164)

By the early 1960s, road car production had ceased to be a sideline for Ferrari and was seen as vitally important to the company's future stability. Thus the 250, Ferrari's first volume produced model, can be seen as critically important, though production of the first of the line - the 250 Europa, built from 1953 to '54 - amounted to fewer than twenty. The 250 Europa's introduction heralded a significant change in Ferrari's preferred coachbuilder; whereas previously Vignale had been the most popular among Maranello's customers, from now on Pinin Farina (later Pininfarina) would be Ferrari's number one choice. True series production began with the arrival of Pininfarina's 'notchback' Coupé on the 250GT chassis, 350 of which were built between 1958 and 1960 within the sequence '0841' to '2081'. However, the relatively small scale of production meant that cars could still be ordered with subtle variations according to customer choice, as well as enabling a handful of show cars and 'specials' to be constructed on the 250GT chassis. A number of important developments occurred during 250GT production: the original Colombo-designed Tipo 128C 3.0-litre engine being superseded by the twin-distributor 128D, which in turn was supplanted in 1960 by the outside-plug 128F engine which did away with its predecessor's siamesed inlets in favour of six separate ports. Developed from the 1.5-litre unit that powered Ferrari's first ever sports car - the Tipo 125C - this supremely versatile engine proved equally at home on both road and track, effectively establishing the worldwide reputation of the marquee. On the chassis side, four-wheel disc brakes arrived late in 1959 and a four-speed-plus-overdrive gearbox the following year. More refined and practical than any previous road-going Ferrari, yet retaining the sporting heritage of its predecessors, the 250GT is a landmark model of immense historical significance. The ownership history of this fabulous and rare Series I sports car can be traced (with the exception of one or two in the 1970s) within the history file and the evidence will show the following: Chassis 0975GT was first sold to Mr Mariotti in July 1958 from a dealership in Geneva, Switzerland. He had the car for three years and in 1961, sold it to Jean-Pierre Morand also in Switzerland; the original Swiss Registration document can be seen on file. During the 1970s, there appears to be one or two owners whose identity is unknown until it was sold to a dealer Mr Pierre de Siebenthal who then sold the car on to Mr Giordanengo in Italy in 1984. In October 1998, he then sold it to Mr Stober in Berlin, Germany who then instructed Mr Giordanengo to carry out a restoration. Mr Stober then sold 0975GT to Mr Peter Kirste in Germany in 2001. Whilst in his ownership, he entered it into a Ferrari Club Deutsche Concours event in Baden-Baden in 2003 when the car finished third overall. He kept the car for nine years until 2010 when he sold it to Mr Gotz Habisreitinger in Germany. It was he that then carried out what appears to be a full restoration of the car in 2010 by Peter Rosenmayer Sport and Race Cars in Stuttgart, who also famously the same year, restored the ex-Denny Hulme Monaco winning Brabham Repco of 1967. All itemised invoices for this restoration can be seen on file, showing a total expenditure of 60,172 Euros and also two CDs itemizing the restoration are also on file. The comprehensive history file shows many TüVs, whilst in Mr Habisreitinger’s ownership, which are Germany’s equivalent to the UK’s MoT test certificate. In the history file, there is a report carried out by an independent specialist for insurance purposes who marked 0975GT with a 1-2, which in Germany is excellent condition. The car was then sold to Hexagon Garage in London in 2012 who then sold it to the present owner, who has only driven the car a mere 300 miles since then. This fabulous Ferrari sits on the iconic Borrani wheels of which there is a spare with the car and it also comes with a tool kit roll. The present paintwork in Nero Tropicane, is the original colour and the quality of which would be extremely difficult to find anywhere, as is the interior which is also in the original colour hide from when it left the factory and is also in exemplary condition. This truly is a fabulous car and we believe it is fitted with its original matching numbers Colombo three litre engine. It would certainly grace any collection or would be a great competitor to any Concours event anywhere in the world. Click here for more information

Porsche 911 / 964 RS America Porsche 911 / 964 RS America

Porsche 911 / 964 RS America

Lot #164 (Sale Order 64 of 164)

Just 701 RS Americas were built between 1992 and 1994; in 1993 617 of those were built with their rear seats replaced by carpeted storage; however the seating was restored for the 1994 models. Only four options were available on an RS America - an electric sunroof, air conditioning, a limited-slip differential, and a stereo system. Standard colours were limited to Guards Red, Black, or Grand Prix White, whilst the metallic colours of Midnight Blue and Polar Silver were available for an extra cost. Porsche's goal in creating the 964 RS was to offer a lightweight 911, producing a Carrera 2 stripped of most standard comfort features. However due to US import regulations the Carrera RS 3.6 was only available in Europe so it was slightly detuned to meet Department of Transport regulations and dubbed the RS America. The RS America was fitted with M030 Sport suspension, which included progressively wound coil springs, a larger front anti-roll bar, and uprated shocks. Standard were larger Carrera 2 Turbo wheels and 'Big Red' disc brakes whilst a fixed whale tail replaced the Carrera 2's retractable wing. The RSA was quick, taking just 4.6 seconds to reach 60 mph and could reach a top speed in excess of 155 mph.Porsche Cars North America CEO and President Fred Schwab famously claimed that "this is the car that the Porsche Club of America built," this after he and works driver Vic Elford had canvassed Porsche after club members expressed displeasure that the 911 was turning into a heavy GT car unsuitable for track sessions. Upon its introduction, Porsche declared that, "the 1993 911 RS America captures the spirit of the original RS with its emphasis on performance." Click here for more information

Bentley Azure Bentley Azure

Bentley Azure

Lot #165 (Sale Order 65 of 164)

The Bentley Azure was launched in 1995 and based on the platform of the Continental R coupe which had been launched in 1991. Volkswagen purchased Bentley from Vickers in 1998, three years into production of the Mk.I model. Volkswagen executives decided to keep the then-current Azure in production until 2003. Production of the new Azure began for the 2006 model year. Now based on the Arnage platform, power came from the then current variant of the Bentley turbocharged V8 making 450hp and 645 lb ft of torque. New Arnage was designed for the BMW 4.4-litre engine. However, due to strained relationships between the two manufacturers, Volkswagen was forced to significantly re-work the original 6.75-litre Rolls-Royce/Bentley V8 engine in 2001, including a switch from the old single-turbo system to a modern twin-turbocharger setup, reducing turbo-lag and increasing horsepower output. A new, model-specific six-speed automatic transmission fed power to the rear wheels. Bentley claimed a 0 to 60 time of 5.6 seconds and a top speed of 168 mph, slightly faster than the previous edition and still very good for a vehicle of this size and weight. Lotus Elan S4 Drophead Coupe Lotus Elan S4 Drophead Coupe

Lotus Elan S4 Drophead Coupe

Lot #166 (Sale Order 66 of 164)

The Lotus Elan was designed in 1962 by the legendary Colin Chapman, whose brilliance at lightweight chassis design produced one of the best handling sports cars ever; a design which is still revered as much today. The previous model, the Lotus Elite, had fibreglass monocoque bodywork which proved insufficiently rigid. Chapman introduced an effective steel backbone chassis to the Elan whilst still retaining the fibreglass bodywork. So successful was this chassis, that it still forms the basis of Lotus cars today. Only weighing in at 680kgs and with a cleverly designed twin cam 1498cc (and later 1558cc) engine built upon an existing Ford unit, it proved exceptionally nimble on the straights and in the corners showing Chapman's true understanding of suspension dynamics. In March 1968 the final Series 4 was introduced. Benefits included dashboard fresh air vents and improved interior trim and fittings. The fibreglass coachwork was lighter and incorporated flared wheel arches to accommodate the wider wheels; side repeater/indicators and larger Plus 2 rear lights were also added. Chevrolet Corvette C1 Chevrolet Corvette C1

Chevrolet Corvette C1

Lot #167 (Sale Order 67 of 164)

General Motors designer Harley Earl loved sports cars and was influenced by the GI's bringing home MGs, Jaguars, Alfa Romeos and the like after hostilities ceased in Europe in 1945. Even the small independent carmaker, Nash Motors, began selling a two seater sports car in 1951. Earl convinced GM that they also needed to build a two seat sports car. Earl and his 'special projects' crew began working on the new car later that year which was code named 'Opel'. The result was the 1953 Corvette taking its name from the Corvette, a small, manoeuvrable fighting frigate and it was unveiled to the public at that year's Motorama Car Show. Bentley Brooklands Coupe Bentley Brooklands Coupe

Bentley Brooklands Coupe

Lot #168 (Sale Order 68 of 164)

The Bentley Brooklands Coupe is a coupe version of the Bentley Arnage. As a hand-assembled car made in very small numbers, employing traditional coach-building techniques and craftsmanship skills in wood and leather, the Brooklands Coupe is the true successor to the discontinued Bentley Continental R and T. Lifetime production is planned for 550 cars, and deliveries started in the first half of 2008. The Brooklands is powered by a 6.75-litre Rolls-Royce twin-turbocharged OHV V8 engine, producing 530 horsepower and 774 lbft, the highest torque ever developed by a production V8 petrol engine. It was featured on Top Gear in series 11 by Jeremy Clarkson, and due to the car having so much torque, one of the car's tyres blew out during a power slide after prolonged aggressive driving with its traction control off. It can achieve 0 to 60 miles per hour in around 5.0 seconds, and a top speed in the region of 183.9 mph. With an optional Carbon fibre-reinforced Silicon Carbide (C/SiC) ceramic composite braking system with 14-inch SGL Carbon brake discs (only fitted with 20-inch wheels), the new Brooklands offers more stopping power than any other passenger vehicle currently available for purchase. Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster (4.2 litre) Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster (4.2 litre)

Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster (4.2 litre)

Lot #169 (Sale Order 69 of 164)

The Jaguar E-Type is not only one of motoring's all time greats but also a car that is coveted by almost every red blooded male. This has led to the Series I E-Type becoming ever more sought after and has given rise to fabulous recreations and spectacular restorations that are without doubt a higher standard than when the car was first produced. More than 70,000 E-Types were sold during its lifespan; around 60,000 of these were left hand drive mainly destined for the USA. When the Series I was introduced it was initially for export only with the domestic market launch coming four months later. The cars at this time used the triple SU carburettor, 3.8 litre, six-cylinder XK engine and non-synchromesh gearbox from the XK150S plus some very pretty but upright and uncompromising seats. The 4.2 litre cars were introduced in October 1964 with the same power and top speed of 150mph, but with more torque from the larger engine, a brand new all synchromesh gearbox, some very comfortable seats and brakes more in keeping with the advertised top speed. The 4.2 litre was a far better product and much easier to live with on a daily basis. Click here for more information

Datsun 260Z 2+2 Datsun 260Z 2+2

Datsun 260Z 2+2

Lot #170 (Sale Order 70 of 164)

The Nissan S30 (sold in Japan as the Nissan Fairlady Z and in other markets as the Datsun 240Z, then later as the 260Z and 280Z) was the first generation of Z GT two-seat coupe, produced by Nissan Motors Ltd of Japan from 1969 to 1978. It was designed by a team led by Mr. Yoshihiko Matsuo, the head of Nissan's Sports Car Styling Studio. HLS30 was the designation of the left hand drive model and HS30 for the right hand drive model. This model was sold in the United States for the 1974 model year only but was available in other countries until 1978. A three-speed automatic transmission was an option and the four-speed manual standard. 1974 brought for the first time to the S30 line a new 2+2 seating option, which offered room for four passengers and an extra 11.9 inches of wheelbase. These cars have a notably different roofline from the two-seat coupes, incorporating larger opening quarter panel windows. The 260Z claimed a few updates and improvements over the 240Z. The climate controls were more sensibly laid out and easier to work, and those cars with air conditioning now had the system integrated into the main climate control panel. There was also additional stiffness in the chassis due to a redesign of the chassis rails which were larger and extended further back than previous models. The 260Z debuted a redesigned dashboard and console and door panels for the interior, together with updated tail lights. Click here for more information

The DB9 was the star of the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show where it was unveiled to the public for the very first time. Aston Martin DBS Volante Aston Martin DBS Volante

Aston Martin DBS Volante

Lot #173 (Sale Order 73 of 164)

The Aston Martin DBS was a grand tourer based on the DB9 and replaced the 2004 Vanquish S as the flagship model. The DBS name had been used once before on their 1967-72 grand tourer coupé and the modern car was officially unveiled at the 2007 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on 16 August 2007, followed by the more traditional 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show. The convertible version of the DBS, dubbed the DBS Volante, was unveiled at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show followed this time by the 2009 Concours d'Elegance. The DBS Volante included a motorised retractable fabric roof controlled by a button in the centre console which could fold into the compartment located behind the seats in just 14 seconds. Impressively the roof could also be opened or closed even at speeds up to 30 mph. Other features includes rear-mounted six-speed manual or optional six-speed ‘Touchtronic 2’ automatic gearbox and a Bang & Olufsen BeoSound DBS in-car entertainment system with 13 speakers. The DBS was selected to be the service issue Aston Martin for the 2006 James Bond movie Quantum of Solace and stared in a record breaking action sequence towards the end of the film and an exhilarating opening scene for Daniel Craig's second outing as Bond. This stunning DBS Volante offered in Storm Black with Obsidian Black Caithness Leather stitched in silver is enough to make any Aston enthusiast go weak at the knees the moment the glorious V12 engine roars into life. As recently as June this year this example has had a service by Grange Aston Martin, Welwyn Garden City and is offered with 2 sets of keys, V5 registration document and an MoT certificate until August 2019. Boasting ceramic brakes, carbon pack and a Bang & Olufsen stereo system, this beautiful car was recently condition inspected by AutoLign due to an insurance claim in 2012 relating to minor water damage. AutoLign ensure any repair works are carried out to a high standard and the vendor confirms he has had no faults relating to the car repairs which we believe were in 2012. The DBS is sure to be a future classic, it looks and sounds fabulous especially with the roof down and is described as the only Aston Martin for a serious collector or investor. This low mileage fine example will surely pay generous dividends in years to come and while you wait why not imagine yourself as a suave 007. Click here for more information

Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Roadster Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Roadster

Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Roadster

Lot #174 (Sale Order 74 of 164)

The Mercedes-Benz 190SL with the 300SL made history at the New York International Motor Sports Show in February 1954 by being the first new production Mercedes-Benz to be unveiled outside of Germany. The impression given by the 190SL alongside the bigger 300SL was neat, sporty and with dashing lines. This was the trait of Mercedes-Benz designers Karl Wilfret and Walter Hacket. Despite opinions, the statistics tell their own tale as between May 1955 and February 1963, 25,881 of these cars were produced - it was a huge success for Mercedes-Benz. Its engine boasted four inline cylinders with a chain driven overhead camshaft and two Solex 44PHH carburettors, delivering a respectable 108bhp for that era. The body was a monocoque design, welded to the shortened chassis of the type 180 saloon. A racing version with aluminium doors and a small windscreen was never produced although these parts could be ordered from the Factory for weekend racing. Click here for more information

MG A Coupe

Lot #175 (Sale Order 75 of 164)

When the MGA arrived in 1955, it must have come as quite a shock to MG aficionados who had become accustomed to the pre-war look of the company's sports cars. It was a complete departure in styling and its beautiful streamlined body was right up to the minute in terms of appearance. It was powered by a new engine; MG had decided that the old XPAG unit had had its day and so introduced a much more modern B Series engine that had made its debut in the recently announced Magnette saloon. The 'A' was officially launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1955. Only 5,869 cars were sold on the home market, giving the MGA the highest export percentage of any British car and was replaced by the MGB in May 1962. Click here for more information

MG B Roadster MG B Roadster

MG B Roadster

Lot #176 (Sale Order 76 of 164)

The roadster was the first of the MGB range to be produced. The body was a pure two-seater; a small rear seat was a rare option at one point. By making better use of space the MGB was able to offer more passenger and luggage accommodation than the earlier MGA while being 3 inches (75 mm) shorter overall. The suspension was also softer, giving a smoother ride, and the larger engine gave a slightly higher top speed. From 1972 there were two different radial sizes factory-fitted to new cars, depending on whether the car was a roadster or a GT. Later on during the rubber bumper production period, alloy wheels were introduced on several different limited edition models - with the final 1,000 LE models being the last cars to leave the factory with alloy wheels. This nice example of the MG B Roadster is presented in Gunmetal Grey with a black interior and green piping. It comes with a black canvas soft top hood, a hard top and is fitted with the more sporty Mini Lite wheels. The car was restored in 2002 and as it was part of a deceased estate, there are no restoration invoices unfortunately but there is just one old MoT certificate with the mileage showing 75,931 miles, which we believe to be genuine. The car also comes with a MoT test certificate which expires on 27th June 2019. The car is generally in a good condition and was garaged while in the previous owner's care. Austin-Healey 3000 Mk. III BJ8 (Phase II)

Lot #177 (Sale Order 77 of 164)

The Austin-Healey was one the foundation blocks for one of the 1960s' most charismatic rally cars with the 3000 Mk. I introduced in March 1959. Powered by an enlarged 2,912cc straight-six engine that developed some 124bhp and offered in two-seater (BN7) or 2+2 seater (BT7) configurations, the progressively improved 3000 metamorphosed through Mk. II and Mk. IIa guises before the arrival of the ultimate Mk. III BJ8 in October 1963. After the stratospheric rise in Aston Martin and E-Type prices, the next British Sports car currently seeing early signs of investor interest is the Austin-Healey 3000 Mk. III (Phase II). Like its competitors, the 2+2 seater BJ8 proved a comfortable and fast grand tourer but has the benefit of multiple upgrades and the ability to win silverware whenever driven in anger, has elevated it above its rivals. BMW 3.0 CSL â'Batmobile' Recreation

Lot #178 (Sale Order 78 of 164)

The post-war renaissance of BMW began in earnest in the 1960s with the introduction of two pivotal models, the compact 02-Series - the forerunner to the huge selling 3-Series - and a larger, visually striking CS sports coupe, referred to internally as the E9, which evolved to become the 3.0 CSi. In factory nomenclature, 'E9' the BMW 3.0 CS Coupe, was a Karmann-built two-door based on the 2000CS. Enlarged to accommodate the M30 engine from the E3 saloon, it had appeared first in 2.8-litre guise. In all a total of 4,455 were manufactured from 1971 to 1974. The BMW E9 Coupe was one of the most handsome cars ever to roll from the Munich factory. Sleek and shark-like, it had a wonderfully elegant and airy cockpit with slim windscreen pillars, a large glass area, and a beautifully restrained wooden dash. A 3.0 CSL special homologation version for the European Touring Car Championship competition enhanced BMW's reputation as a manufacturer of sporting automobiles. Click here for more information

Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 Ferrari 365 GT 2+2

Ferrari 365 GT 2+2

Lot #179 (Sale Order 79 of 164)

Concurrent with production of the 275GT-series and replacing the 330GT MKII and 500 Superfast, Ferrari S.p.A. launched the 4.4 litre V12, '365' at the 1966 Geneva Motor Show; headlining their stand, with the luxurious, and very limited production, 'California' variant. The following year, Ferrari's first model with all independent rear suspension, the 365GT2+2, was unveiled at the annual Paris Salon - a result of the strategic partnership between themselves and Koni, it combined coil springs and shock absorbers to ensure excellent road-holding, thanks to the self-levelling system at the rear. The chassis had the same wheelbase as the 330 GT 2+2, but the bodywork was totally new, and more like the Superfast model, than previous 2+2s. It was the largest and most luxurious Ferrari ever made at that point...no surprise it attracted much attention and a full order book. The car's styling is most similar to that of the 365 GTC/GTS, slightly elongated to accommodate the rear seating and as with the GTB/4 and 330 GTC, the transmission involved the 'torque tube' system. In production from 1968 until 1971 the 365GT is from a decade of prolific growth for Ferrari and is a highly collectible, very versatile Grand Tourer, in the finest tradition. We are very pleased to offer this 365 GT 2+2 from the first year of model production; importantly a European specification example completed in Maranello on 28th May 1968 and delivered via Turin-based, main dealer Italcar S.p.A, to Signor Blangino of the same city, on 14th June 1968 all verified by a photocopy of the build sheet from Ferrari S.p.A within the file. Ferrari 360 Modena Ferrari 360 Modena

Ferrari 360 Modena

Lot #180 (Sale Order 80 of 164)

The Ferrari 360 is a two-seater sports car manufactured from 1999 to 2005. It succeeded the Ferrari F355 and is a mid-engined, rear wheel drive V8 powered coupe. Ferrari partnered with Alcoa to produce an entirely new, all aluminium space frame chassis that was 40% stiffer than the F355. Along with a lightweight frame, the new Pininfarina body styling deviated from traditions of the previous decade's sharp angles and flip-up headlights. The new V8 engine utilises a 3.6 litre capacity and, despite what looks like on paper modest gains, in reality the power to weight ratio was significantly improved over the F355. The first model to be rolled out was the 360 Modena followed later by the 360 Spider and finally as a special edition, the Challenge Stradale. In all there were 8800 Modena's and 7565 Spiders produced with this example being amongst the last. Click here for more information

Bentley RT

Lot #181 (Sale Order 81 of 164)

A new Bentley Turbo R model was introduced in 1995. Changes included Zytek fuel injection and appearance modifications. In 1996 production of the short wheelbase Turbo R ended, leaving only the model hitherto sold as the Turbo RL , now known simply as the Turbo R. For 1997, the Turbo R was replaced by the sportier Turbo RT. The Bentley Turbo RT was the last, rarest, most powerful and most expensive of the Turbo R line. The Bentley RT came with the 400bhp turbo, 6.75 litre, V8 engine of the Bentley two-door Continental T installed. It is visually differentiated from other Bentley Turbo R models by its sport wheels, colour coded grille slats and colour coded bumpers. Performance was 'sufficient' with a top speed limited to 150mph; the ultra luxurious Turbo RT was nearly as fast as the sporting German luxury saloons of the time. The car's base price was £132,000, roughly £40,000 more than the Turbo R and was manufactured during 1997 and 1998 only with just 252 units produced. Click here for more information

Lot #182 (Sale Order 82 of 164)

The Diablo was presented to the public for sale on January 21st, 1990. Its power came from a 5.7 litre, 48 valve version of the existing Lamborghini V12 featuring dual overhead cams and computer controlled, multi-point fuel injection, producing a maximum output of 492hp and 428 lb/ft of torque. It could reach 62mph in about 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 202mph. The Diablo was rear-wheel drive and the engine was mid-mounted to aid its weight balance. The Diablo came better equipped than the model it replaced, the Countach, and had standard features including fully adjustable seats and steering wheel, electric windows, an Alpine stereo system and power steering from 1993 onwards. Carrying on Lamborghini's tradition of naming its cars after breeds of fighting bull, the Diablo was named after a ferocious bull raised by the Duke of Veragua in the 19th century, famous for fighting an epic battle with 'El Chicorro' in Madrid on July 11th, 1869. The Donald Healey Motor Company used the designations BN1 and BN2 for the first two Austin-Healey cars with BN4 for the 100-6 4 seater and BN6 for the 2 seater six cylinder cars. The 100-6 was born from the Austin-Healey 100/4, 100M and 100S models and marked the change over from the four cylinder to the six cylinder engine. The production of the BN4 had begun at Longbridge in May 1956, immediately after that of the four cylinder BN2 had stopped and it continued there until December 1957 before moving to the Abingdon plant. At introduction, only the 4 seater car was available as Donald Healey had become convinced that was what the market wanted. The BN4 was based on some of the lessons learned in the development of the BN3. For some unknown reason, the designation BN4 was given to the two-plus-two car. This is the only instance where the 'N' is used on a four-seater model. Click here for more information

Chevrolet Corvette C2 Stingray

Lot #184 (Sale Order 85 of 164)

The Corvette Stingray had grown to be America's most popular sports car since its debut in 1953 but it was time for a change for the 1963-1967 models. Even the most superlative design grows whiskers after a decade and Chevrolet chief, Bill Mitchell, and stylist, Larry Shinoda, faced a tough task; to improve a living legend. Not only did they succeed but their creation turned into a modern classic and they created the most collectible Corvette of them all sending sales soaring to record levels. Seeds were planted by the Stingray Special racer and experimental XP-720 which displayed a smooth fastback profile and split back window. These and other styling details such as pivoting hidden headlights, doors cut into the roof and a swage line dip all wound up in the production Stingray. The four headlights aligned with the pointy frontend when shut, rotating open when needed. Luggage space grew, though lack of a boot lid earned few plaudits. There was less fibreglass but nearly twice as much steel in the sculptured body, which rode a shorter 98-inch wheelbase. Click here for more information

Jaguar XK150 Fixedhead Coupe

Lot #185 (Sale Order 86 of 164)

The Jaguar XK150 was manufactured between 1957 and 1961 and despite having a family resemblance to the XK120 and XK140, the XK150 was radically modernised. A one piece windscreen replaced the split screen and the wing line no longer dropped as much over the doors. The bonnet was widened, opened down to the wings and on the roadster, the bulkhead was moved back four inches to make the bonnet longer. In the interior, the XK140's walnut dashboard was replaced by a leather trimmed unit. The standard engine, the same as fitted to the XK140, was the 3.4 litre DOHC Jaguar straight-six rated at 180bhp at 5750rpm. Either wire wheels or disc wheels could be specified and the suspension and chassis were very similar to that on the XK140. These were high performance, well appointed sports touring cars and could cope with long distances with alacrity. Click here for more information

Jaguar XKR Convertible

Lot #186 (Sale Order 87 of 164)

The XK8 is a grand tourer car that was launched in 1996 and was the first generation of a new XK series available in both coupe and convertible body styles and with the new 4.0 litre Jaguar AJ-V8 engine. The 1998 XKR was introduced with a supercharged version of the engine. Both the XK8 and XKR are electronically limited to a maximum of 155mph; the top speed of its predecessor, the XJS V12, being 158mph. A navigation system and self-levelling xenon headlamps came as standard with the XKR with Jaguar's adaptive cruise control as an optional feature available on both models. Both come with all leather interior, burr walnut trim and side airbags. Jeremy Clarkson, during a Top Gear test drive, likened the interior of the original XK8 to sitting inside Blenheim Palace. BMW 840ci BMW 840ci

BMW 840ci

Lot #187 (Sale Order 88 of 164)

When launched in 1989 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the BMW 8 Series felt like a glimpse into the future with its angular styling. An upmarket range with superior performance and price tag to match, the 8 Series was designed to be a standalone premium model although seen to be the successor to the 6 Series. The 8 Series was offered in 830i, 840Ci and 850i/Ci form and, when introduced in mid-1993, it was fitted with a 4 litre, V8 engine mated to either a five-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission. Producing a very healthy 282bhp, this version could achieve the 0-62mph sprint in an impressive 6.9 seconds; importantly with the naturally aspirated V8, acceleration was effortless and refined. Over $1 billion dollars are said to have been spent on the car's design with CAD design and wind tunnel technology. From mid-1995, production phased in the newer 4.4 litre M62B44 engine, which had better fuel economy and more torque, though power output remained unchanged. Click here for more information

Jaguar Series I E-Type (4.2 litre)

Lot #188 (Sale Order 89 of 164)

Launched at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show, the Jaguar E-Type 3.8 litre was nothing short of a revelation. With its heady blend of supercar performance, breathtaking styling and low price tag, the newcomer left rivals reeling and customers clamouring. Early sports car racing success at the hands of Graham Hill and Roy Salvadori amongst others helped cement its reputation. Built as a monocoque with a front sub-frame to cradle the engine, the model's combination of all-round independent suspension rack and pinion steering and four-wheel disc brakes gave it excellent road holding and handling capabilities. After that, the floors were dished to provide more leg room and the bonnet latches moved inside the car, whilst underneath the bonnet, the engine size increased to 4.2 litres in October 1964. Triumph Stag Triumph Stag

Triumph Stag

Lot #189 (Sale Order 90 of 164)

Launched in 1970, the Triumph Stag was a luxury grand tourer. Envisioned as a luxury sports car, it was designed to compete directly with the Mercedes-Benz SL class models. All Stags were four-seater convertible coupés but, for structural rigidity and to meet new American rollover standards at the time, the Stag required a B-pillar ‘roll bar’ hoop connected to the windscreen frame by a T-bar. A removable hardtop was a popular factory option for the early Triumph Stags and was later supplied as standard equipment. A new 2.5 litre, V8, designed and developed by Triumph’s Harry Webster, was later enlarged to 2997cc. Most Stags were fitted with a Borg Warner automatic gearbox although manual gearboxes with overdrive are available. Electric windows, power steering and power-assisted brakes were fitted as standard. This Triumph Stag was manufactured on 1st October 1973 and first registered on 5th November 1973, the registration mark was issued on the same day, it can be assumed that AJW 8M is the original registration number. Finished in the striking colour combination of Mimosa Yellow with black interior this Triumph Stag is fitted with automatic transmission and air conditioning. These iconic sports cars from the 70’s come in various conditions, this example is certainly towards the upper end of the scale, the fastidious vendor has a collection of cars and is only selling this Triumph due to lack of storage space. Showing no signs of corrosion and with an engine that starts ‘on the button’ we are advised AJW 8M drives very well with no known faults. Supplied with a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until 22nd May 2019, together with a history folder with invoices dating back to 1984 and a Heritage Certificate, this Triumph Stag is one of the best examples we have seen in recent times. Alvis TD21 Drophead Coupe

Lot #190 (Sale Order 91 of 164)

In October 1955 at the Paris Motor Show, Alvis displayed its first production car styled by the Swiss carrossier, Graber. Based on the existing TC21 Grey Lady chassis, the newcomer brought a much needed injection of Continental style and modernity to the Coventry manufacturer's range. Lighter, stiffer, and with a much smaller frontal area than the traditionally styled Grey Lady, the Graber Alvis enjoyed much improved handling and a higher maximum speed in excess of 100mph. The first Graber styled model, the TC108G, was built by coachbuilders Willowbrook, before production switched to Rolls-Royce's in-house coachbuilder Park Ward on the introduction of the improved and restyled TD21. Ferrari 365 GT4 BB

Lot #191 (Sale Order 92 of 164)

The first 'Boxer' was the 365 GT4 BB shown at the 1971 Turin Motor Show. Designed to rival the Lamborghini Miura and the newly developed Lamborghini Countach, it was finally released for sale in 1973 at the Paris Motor Show. 387 were built, of which 88 were right hand drive (58 for the UK market), making it the rarest of all Berlinetta Boxers. The Pininfarina-designed body followed the P6 show car with popup headlights. Though it shared its numerical designation with the Daytona, the Boxer was radically different. It was a mid-engined car like the Dino and the now flat-12 engine was mounted longitudinally rather than transversely. It has 380 hp which is also slightly higher than the Daytona. The engine shared its internal dimensions with the V12 from the Daytona, but was spread out to 180° as on Ferrari's 1970 Formula One car and was mounted above a five-speed manual transmission. MG A Roadster MG A Roadster

MG A Roadster

Lot #192 (Sale Order 93 of 164)

When the MGA arrived in 1955, it must have come as quite a shock to MG aficionados who had become used to the pre-war look of the company's sports cars. The MGA was a complete departure in styling for MG. Its beautiful streamlined body was right up to the minute in terms of appearance and it was powered by a new engine as MG had decided that the old XPAG unit had had its day. The MGA was powered by the much more modern B-Series engine that had made its debut in the recently announced Magnette saloon. MG had gone as far as building a full prototype of the MGA by using TD running gear, the 1250cc XPAG engine, a re-designed chassis, and the MGA bodywork. When it eventually became clear that the TF Midget was a bit of a lame duck and that it would have to be replaced, the new MG sports car was finally given the chance it deserved. The delay in production had one advantage in that it allowed MG to refine the design and install the much newer 1,489cc four-cylinder B-Series engine and its transmission from the Magnette saloon. Ferrari Testarossa Ferrari Testarossa

Ferrari Testarossa

Lot #195 (Sale Order 96 of 164)

Ferrari unveiled the new Testarossa at the 1984 Paris Motor Show marking the end of production of the Boxer, the car that had been the flagship 12-cylinder Ferrari model for the previous ten years. Styled by Pininfarina, the Testarossa paid homage to the great 50s sports racer that originally bore the name, simply translating as 'Red Head'; the rocker covers being painted red. The mid-engine, rear wheel drive configuration allowed the center of gravity to be positioned in the middle of the car, with a weight distribution ratio of 40% front and 60% rear, thus achieving excellent cornering and road holding ability. The Testarossa was produced with 16'' five-spoke 'Star' alloy wheels and disc brakes fitted all round; with 309mm discs at the front and 310mm discs at the rear. The Testarossa was larger than its Boxer predecessor; six inches wider and some 2½ inches longer which allowed more leg room. In addition, the temperature inside the cockpit was reduced as twin radiators were mounted in the rear; unlike the Boxer, where the single front mounted radiator had plumbing from the bonnet to the engine behind the seats, which made the cabin very hot, especially on a warm day. The distinctive side vents were as useful as they were visually striking, allowing excellent engine ventilation, whilst contributing to the car’s unique styling. Originally registered on 4th September 1987, this right hand drive Ferrari presents in excellent order throughout. The Rossa Corsa paintwork is unblemished as is the tan leather interior. A good service history accompanies E266 DPK and she is supplied with the original toolkit and jack. The car was last serviced in April 2018 including the cambelts. To be expected of such a high profile sports car, the engine sounds magnificent when running and negates the need for a radio. This Testarossa has been professionally stored in recent times and is supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 13th December 2018. One of the most iconic Ferrari’s of the period, this delightful example is more visceral and far more desirable than its later siblings. Click here for more information

Daimler Dart SP250 Daimler Dart SP250

Daimler Dart SP250

Lot #196 (Sale Order 97 of 164)

The Daimler Dart was built in Coventry and launched at the 1959 New York Motor Show achieving great success in the North American market. Built with a fibreglass body, the power was provided by the 2.5 litre Edward Turner designed V8 that soon became revered for the smoothness in its power delivery with 140bhp on tap. Independent double wishbone front suspension at the front and half elliptical springs at the rear with a live rear axle, kept the car on the road with stopping power supplied by hydraulic disc brakes on all four corners. The car was described as a 2+2 but the bench like rear seat offered very limited leg room unless the front seats were pushed fully forward. Daimler were soon forced to drop the Dart name when threatened with legal action by Chrysler's Dodge division, the car was then renamed the Daimler SP250. Click here for more information

Rolls-Royce Phantom Rolls-Royce Phantom

Rolls-Royce Phantom

Lot #197 (Sale Order 98 of 164)

An historic model in the continuing history of the Rolls-Royce marque, the Phantom was the first all-new design to be introduced by the company following its takeover by BMW. Produced at a new factory near Goodwood in Sussex, the Phantom revived a great name from Rolls-Royce's past that had always been synonymous with unrestrained luxury. In keeping with the tradition established by previous Phantoms, the newcomer was a very large motor car, outstretching the old Silver Seraph (the last Crewe-built Rolls-Royce) by 18"" while boasting a radiator shell 4"" taller. Priced at around £260,000 at time of launch, it was also 40% more expensive. At 140.5 inches, the new car's wheelbase was only fractionally shorter than that of the superseded Phantom VI that had ceased production in the 1990s; gone however, was the old pushrod V8 engine, its place being taken by an all-new 48-valve V12 of 6.7 litres capacity. Despite being normally aspirated, the latter produced 460bhp, comfortably exceeding the old engine's maximum when turbo-charged, albeit at a high 5,300 revolutions. This abundance of power was transmitted to the rear axle via a six-speed automatic gearbox, while air-sprung suspension and automatic level control ensured that ride quality remained uncompromised. A top speed of 149mph put the 2½-ton Phantom within sight of the supercar league, though models destined for North America were electronically limited to 130mph. While the body structure represented the ultimate in automotive technology, its accoutrements remained entirely traditional in choice of materials, consisting of the finest hide trim, genuine woollen carpets and carefully selected wood veneers. Certain dashboard features recalled those of earlier models, while there was a choice of five-seater 'Lounge' or four-seater 'Theatre' accommodation. Click here for more information

Porsche 911 / 996 Turbo Porsche 911 / 996 Turbo

Porsche 911 / 996 Turbo

Lot #198 (Sale Order 99 of 164)

The 996 model is a superb car; quick, reliable, well made and the birth of the water cooled Porsche 911. With a wide range of models on offer, the most iconic is, of course, the Turbo. Featuring four wheel drive and a 3.6 litre, intercooled engine, derived from the 1998 Le Mans winning GT-1 car, pushing out 420bhp and hitting 60mph in a whisker over four seconds, this is genuine supercar territory. The 996 was seen as a more relaxed and usable 911; however, in Turbo guise, the driver would get the best of both worlds; a luxury leather interior with every creature comfort combined with the ability to drop the hammer and reach a top speed of a claimed 190 mph. The 996 Turbo was available with either a six-speed manual or a five-speed tiptronic transmission with revised styling and a wider stance than the naturally aspirated 996 Carreras along with new bi-xenon headlamps. The Turbo also came with Vario Cam Plus as well as stability management - a necessity with over 400bhp under your right foot. Click here for more information

Ferrari F355 Berlinetta Ferrari F355 Berlinetta

Ferrari F355 Berlinetta

Lot #199 (Sale Order 100 of 164)

The Ferrari F355 was built from May 1994 to 1999 and was an evolution of the Ferrari 348. It is a mid-engined, rear wheel drive, V8-powered two-seat coupé. At launch, two models were available; the coupé Berlinetta and the Targa topped GTS. The Spider (convertible) version was introduced in 1995. One major difference between the longitudinal V8 in the 348 and that in the 355, apart from the displacement increase from 3.4 to 3.5 litres, is that the F355 features a five valve per cylinder head that is considerably more powerful, producing 375bhp. The nomenclature does not follow the formula from the previous decades, i.e. engine capacity plus cylinder number for example, the Ferrari 308 name comes from three litres plus eight cylinders, with the same for the 328, 348, 512 etc. This time, Ferrari used engine capacity plus number of valves per cylinder; proud to boast about this technological advancement, with the name 355 coming from 3.5 litres engine capacity and five valves per cylinder. From a driver’s perspective, the Berlinetta will always prove the more popular; the chassis possesses more rigidity and the overall car is lighter. And so it is with this example. Originally registered in Malaysia, this stunning Ferrari is finished in yellow with black leather interior. Having been professionally stored, this F355 presents in excellent condition both inside and out. Described by the vendor as ‘great fun to drive’ and with no known faults, this example is supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 2nd May 2019. There is only one thing better than driving a Ferrari- owning one! Photos courtesy of Luke Papworth from Hampshire photography Click here for more information

Ferrari 328 GTS Ferrari 328 GTS

Ferrari 328 GTS

Lot #200 (Sale Order 101 of 164)

Perhaps one of the most recognisable designs ever penned for Ferrari by Pininfarina is that of the 308. The 308 was much different from Ferrari's first two-seat, mid-engined road car, the 246 Dino, as its design was angular, sharp and more forward thinking. Nevertheless, the 308 was an instant hit and it came to define late '70s and early '80s sports cars. As successful as the 308 was, Ferrari's engineers found ways to refine its design and mechanics without losing the flair that defined it. What emerged was a car that was improved in every aspect; a car that could stand tall amongst its siblings; that car was the 328. It exhibited several subtle differences from its predecessor, including moulded bumpers, a slightly smaller front grill and a roof spoiler. Pininfarina's designers also smoothed out the shape of the body to make it appear slightly less aggressive overall. Inside, Ferrari introduced new and more supportive seats and refined ergonomics with improved general quality to make the car's driving experience more intuitive. Mechanically, overall capacity was raised to 3186cc through increasing the bore and stroke which helped to bring maximum horsepower to 270 at 7000rpm. It could also reach a top speed of 160mph and travel from 0-60 in a brisk 5.5 seconds. Click here for more information

Austin-Healey 100/4 BN1 Austin-Healey 100/4 BN1

Austin-Healey 100/4 BN1

Lot #201 (Sale Order 102 of 164)

The Austin Healey 100 was built from 1953 until 1956 and was developed by Donald Healey to be produced in-house by Healey's small car company in Warwick. Healey built a single 100 or Hundred for the 1952 London Motor Show and the design impressed Leonard Lord, Managing Director of Austin, so much that a deal was struck with Healey to build it at Austin's Longbridge factory and so it was renamed the Austin-Healey 100. The name came from Donald Healey who selected it due to the car's ability to reach 100mph, as opposed to the Austin-Healey 3000, duly named for its 3000cc engine. The 100 was the first of three models later called the Big Healeys to distinguish them from the much smaller Austin-Healey Sprite. The Big Healeys are often referred to by their three-character model designators rather than by their models. The first series 'BN1' were equipped with the same 90bhp engines and manual gearbox as the A90, although the transmission was modified to be a three-speed unit with overdrive on second and top. Lot #202 (Sale Order 103 of 164)

This Bentley Turbo R is one of only around seven such vehicles made in 1996-97 at the behest of HR Owen to celebrate their purchase of the name of the James Young coachbuilding firm. The cars had many special features including vented front wings and bonnet, a smaller limousine-style rear windscreen for additional privacy and a glass panel in the roof. Inside, the cars had modified sports seats in two-tone leather with additional side bolsters. The traditional interior woodwork was replaced by carbon fibre trim to match the exterior paintwork. The dash instruments and foot pedals were also revised for a more sporting look and an engine start button and turbo boost gauge fitted. Stainless steel tread-plates engraved with the James Young logo were also fitted and the sound system upgraded. Mechanically the cars had a sports gearbox and the latest version of the 6,750cc engine with upgraded engine management systems that reputedly pushed the power output up to almost 400bhp. Naturally all these upgrades and special features did not come cheap and the cars cost over £187,000 when new. Click here for more information

Porsche 939 by Rinspeed Porsche 939 by Rinspeed

Porsche 939 by Rinspeed

Lot #203 (Sale Order 104 of 164)

Ever wondered what you would you get when crossing the Porsche 911 with the 928; in 1983 Rinspeed did just that. At the time, in 1983, Porsche didn't produce a 911 Turbo Convertible. To do this Rinspeed took a regular 911 Cabriolet and reinforced the car so it could cope with the extra engine-muscle. While they were at it they also added the exterior modifications that make the car so different from a standard 911. The modifications included a completely new flat-nose to resemble that of a Porsche 928. The tail section is also 928 like, including the tail-lights (something Rinspeed had done before, on the 1982 Eclipse). The front bumper is a Rinspeed piece, customers could choose whether they wanted these new parts in Kevlar of Carbonfibre. This crossbreeding resulted in a crossbred name: Rinspeed 939. The name of the Rinspeed 939 was derived from the simple calculation adding the last four digits of 911 and 928 together. The name was later changed to R39 because Porsche had already bought the 939 name therefore Rinspeed was no longer able to use it. Interiors could be made according to the customer's wishes, with many of the Rinspeed 939s fitted with Recaro- or König seats all in full leather. The Porsche Turbo engine was left almost untouched by Rinspeed. However, with the bodywork modifications the car was around 400kg lighter, increasing the power to weight ratio. DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND OUR CONTROL, THIS LOT HAS BEEN WITHDRAWN FROM THE AUCTION AND WILL BE ENTERED INTO THE HISTORICS NOVEMBER 24TH SALE The original Porsche 911 was introduced in autumn 1963 and manufactured until 1989. It was succeeded by a modified version, internally referred to as Porsche 964, but still sold as Porsche 911, as are current models. Mechanically, the 911 was notable for being rear engine and air cooled and, from its inception, the 911 was modified both by private teams and the factory itself for racing, rallying and other types of competition. The original 911 series is often cited as the most successful competition car ever, especially when its variations are included; namely the powerful 911 derived 935 which won the 24 Hours Le Mans and other major sports car races outright against prototypes. Presented in its original colour and offered with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, this stunning example is one of only 53 UK right hand drive cars believed to have been manufactured. The Heritage Certificate denotes factory options from new including Koni dampers, sports seats, sports brakes, rear wiper and tinted windows. This example has had the benefit of many thousands of pounds spent over the last five decades and comes with a vast history file complete with invoices, receipts, old log books and MoT's, the highlight of which is an invoice for £12,000 for a complete mechanical overall by respected marque specialists, Canford Classics. Our current owner, a self proclaimed petrol head with an eye for early Porsche models, has recently had the car repainted in its original colours and we are informed this was at significant expense. New rubbers and gaskets have been replaced where required together with new carpets. Serviced by the official Porsche Centre at Brooklands in January of this year at a cost of £1,700, this Targa example is sold with long MoT test certificate. We are informed the car drives and presents beautifully but is by no means a garage queen with trips to both Cornwall and the south west of France this summer. This is a great usable 2.4 litre Porsche in arguably one of the best colour schemes, it is collectable and with a fabulous history sure to be popular with auction attendees.

Porsche 911 / 930 Turbo Porsche 911 / 930 Turbo

Porsche 911 / 930 Turbo

Lot #205 (Sale Order 106 of 164)

Much of the Porsche 911's development had resulted from the factory's racing program, and it was the period Group 4 homologation rules, which required 400 road cars to be built, that spurred the development of 'Project 930' - the legendary 911 Turbo. In production from April 1975, the Turbo married a KKK turbocharger to the 3.0 litre Carrera RSR engine, in road trim a combination that delivered 260bhp for a top speed of 155mph. In 1978 the Turbo's engine was enlarged to 3.3 litres, gaining an intercooler in the process; power increased to 300bhp and the top speed, of what was the fastest accelerating road car of its day, went up to 160mph. But the Turbo wasn't just about top speed, it was also the best equipped 911 and amazingly flexible, hence only four speeds in the gearbox, being capable of racing from a standstill to 100mph in 14 seconds! The Turbo's characteristic flared wheel arches and 'tea tray' rear spoiler had already been seen on the Carrera model while the interior was the most luxurious yet seen in a 911, featuring leather upholstery, air conditioning and electric windows. More refined than hitherto, yet retaining its high performance edge, the Porsche 911 Turbo sold in the thousands, becoming the definitive sports car of its age. Click here for more information

Jaguar E-Type Series III Roadster Jaguar E-Type Series III Roadster

Jaguar E-Type Series III Roadster

Lot #206 (Sale Order 107 of 164)

Introduced in 3.8 litre form in 1961, the Jaguar E-Type caused a sensation when it appeared with instantly classic lines and 150mph top speed. While, inevitably, the car's stupendous straight-line performance and gorgeous looks grabbed the headlines, there was a lot more to the E-Type beneath the skin. The newcomer's design owed much to that of the racing D-Type and, indeed, the E-Type would be one of the last great sports cars developed directly from a successful competition ancestor. Just as in the D-Type, a monocoque tub formed the main body/chassis structure while a tubular space frame extended forwards to support the engine. As the E-Type evolved so did customers needs, Jaguar had developed the twelve-cylinder engine to power the new series III with sufficient torque and refinement. Larger and softer in nature with weight redistributed 53/47, and the Series III had lost the wilds of its youth but gained the long-legged touring profile to which it was arguably better suited, a very smooth, quiet and refined grand touring sports car. Porsche 911/993 Targa S Porsche 911/993 Targa S

Porsche 911/993 Targa S

Lot #207 (Sale Order 108 of 164)

The Porsche 993 was introduced in 1994 as a replacement for the 964 generation of the iconic 911 and was built until 1998. Regarded by many as the best generation of 911's ever produced from Stuttgart, this car was the last to use the air cooled, flat six engine that had powered 911's for the previous thirty years. The 993 was offered in a number of guises and specifications during its production life included, as shown, a desirable and well-designed targa edition. This last-of-the-line model was just one of four in 1998 in this configuration. Click here for more information

Porsche 911 Targa 4S

Lot #208 (Sale Order 109 of 164)

The 997 is the replacement model for the 996. It has kept the 996's basic profile, with an even lower 0.28 drag coefficient, but draws on the 993 for detailing. In addition, the new headlights revert to the original bug-eye design, drifting from the teardrop scheme of the 996. Its interior is also similarly revised, with strong links to the earlier 911 interiors while at the same time looking fresh and modern. In late 2005, Porsche announced the all-wheel drive versions to the 997 line-up. Carrera 4 models (both Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S) were announced as 2006 models. Both Carrera 4 models are wider than their rear-wheel drive counterparts by 1.76 inches (32 mm) to cover wider rear tyres. Click here for more information

Ferrari 412 Ferrari 412

Ferrari 412

Lot #209 (Sale Order 110 of 164)

The Ferrari 365 GT4 2+2, 400 and 412 are front-engined, V12, 2+2 grand tourers made between 1972 and 1989. The three cars are closely related, using the same body, chassis and engine evolved over time. After Ferrari's custom, their numeric names refer to the engines' single cylinder displacement expressed in cubic centimetres and therefore changed with each update to reflect the increasing displacement. The gearbox was either a five-speed, all-synchromesh manual with a single-plate clutch or three-speed automatic unit. Five-spoke alloy wheels were mounted on Rudge knock-off hubs. Fittingly for a large grand tourer, standard equipment included leather upholstery, electric windows and air conditioning. The body was altered with a raised rear deck granting more luggage space. Pininfarina made many subtle tweaks to modernize the exterior. The bumpers were body-coloured; at the front, there was a deeper spoiler and, at the rear, a black valance incorporated the foglamps and exhaust pipes. Today, its sleek, Pininfarina-designed lines and relatively limited production numbers have cemented its position as one of the most iconic Ferrari of the 1980's. Click here for more information

Austin 7 AD Tourer Austin 7 AD Tourer

Austin 7 AD Tourer

Lot #210 (Sale Order 111 of 164)

The Austin 7 was produced from 1922 through to 1939 and nicknamed the 'Baby Austin'; it was one of the most popular cars ever produced and sold equally well abroad. It wiped out most other British small cars and cycle cars of the early 1920's and its effect on the British market was similar to that of the Model T Ford in the USA. Prior to the Austin 7 though, larger cars were the order of the day but the forward thinking of Sir Herbert Austin felt a smaller car would be more popular. Austin put a large amount of his own money into the design and patented many of its innovations. In return for the investment, he was paid a royalty of two guineas on every car sold. Nearly 2,500 cars were made in the first year of production (1923), not as many as hoped, but within a few years the 'big car in miniature' had transformed the fortunes of the Austin Motor Co. and by 1939, when production finally ended, over 290,000 cars and vans had been manufactured. Austin-Healey 3000 Mk. III BJ8

Lot #211 (Sale Order 112 of 164)

The Austin-Healey 3000 was built from 1959 to 1967 and is the best known of the 'big' Healey models. The car's bodywork was made by Jensen Motors and the vehicles were assembled at the BMC Abingdon works. The 3000 was a successful car which won its class in many European rallies during its heyday and also ran at Le Mans during that period. As such, it's still used in competition by enthusiasts today. The 3000 Mk. III was launched in October 1963 and remained in production until the end of 1967 when production of Austin-Healeys ceased. Classified as the BJ8, the new model was the most powerful and luxurious of the big Healeys with a walnut veneer dash, wind-up windows and a 150bhp engine. Improvements to the engine included a revised camshaft, valve springs and twin SU 2"" HD8 carburettors together with a redesigned exhaust system and servo-assisted brakes. Alvis TA14 Drophead Coupe Alvis TA14 Drophead Coupe

Alvis TA14 Drophead Coupe

Lot #212 (Sale Order 113 of 164)

Following the end of World War II Alvis quickly re-emerged with a revised range of passenger cars. Alvis had been kept busy building Military vehicles during the war so it was able to revert to peacetime products quite quickly. As with most other manufacturers there was no time, or money, to develop new products, therefore the new Alvis 14 also known as the TA14 was really a freshened-up pre-war model the 12/70 - first introduced in 1938, the most obvious difference being the adoption of steel disc wheels in place of wire wheels. Alvis had always sold well built cars with sporting pretensions. The Alvis 14 come well equipped and beautifully finished. The TA14 used an 1892cc four cylinder engine and rigid axles at the front and rear. Click here for more information

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow

Lot #213 (Sale Order 114 of 164)

When the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was released to the public in October 1965, the development departments were showing the result of work carried out over a period of some ten years and had the largest production volume of any Rolls-Royce. The new models were technically striking in three ways. A monocoque chassis was used; all wheels were sprung independently and four wheel disc brakes now ensured stopping power of the sort that had come to be expected in a modern car. Under the bonnet, the V8 engine that had been introduced in the Silver Cloud series was employed. This very well presented Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow I is offered in cream with a beige Everflex and magnolia leather interior. Originally delivered to Hadley Green Garage on 3rd September 1976 and sold to Vaughn Associates in London, we are informed by the vendor that the second owner was the pianist and entertainer Russ Conway, to whom several invoices were made out to in 1997 which are included in the history file. Since his ownership there has been a continual record of services shown with countless invoices for maintenance and remedial work which is coupled to an original service booklet showing 11 stamps from main dealers and specialists until the late 80's. Also supplied with the car is a collection of old MoT test certificates and a valid MoT until January 2018, spare keys, tool kit and over mats. A lovely example of the iconic Silver Shadow sensibly priced for a new owner and with a slice of previous celebrity ownership. Click here for more information

Austin-Healey 3000 Mk. II BT7

Lot #214 (Sale Order 115 of 164)

The Austin-Healey 3000 was built from 1959 to 1967 and is the best known of the 'big' Healey models. The car's bodywork was made by Jensen Motors and the vehicles were assembled at the BMC Abingdon works. The 3000 was a successful car which won its class in many European rallies during its heyday and also ran at Le Mans during that period; as such, it is still used in competition by enthusiasts today. Introduced in March 1961, the 3000 Mk. II came with triple SU carburettors and an uprated camshaft, designated the BT7 Mk. II (four-seat version) and BN7 Mk. II (two-seat version); however, upon the introduction of the BJ7 (2+2 seats) model in January 1962, the number of carburettors was reduced to two. As a result of the introduction of the BJ7, the BN7 ceased production in March 1962, with the BT7 coming to an end in June of the same year. Click here for more information

Jaguar E-Type Series II Coupe (4.2 litre)

Lot #215 (Sale Order 116 of 164)

The Jaguar E-Type was initially designed and shown to the public as a grand tourer in two-seater coupe form and as a convertible roadster. Open headlights without glass covers, a wrap-around rear bumper, re-positioned and larger front indicators and tail lights below the bumpers, better cooling aided by an enlarged 'mouth' and twin electric fans, together with up-rated brakes are all hallmarks of the Series II cars. The interior and dashboard were also re-designed with rocker switches being substituted for toggle switches. The dashboard switches also lost their symmetrical layout. New seats were fitted which purists claim lacked the style of the originals but were certainly more comfortable; air conditioning and power steering were available as factory options. Ford Thunderbird Ford Thunderbird

Ford Thunderbird

Lot #216 (Sale Order 117 of 164)

The Thunderbird ('T-Bird') was manufactured by Ford in the United States over eleven model generations from 1955 through to 2005. The second to fourth generation Thunderbird convertibles were similar in design to the Lincoln convertible of the time and borrowed from earlier Ford hardtop/convertible designs. The overall appearance was a sleek look with no trace of a convertible top at all. The Ford Thunderbird began life in February 1953 in direct response to Chevrolet's new sports car, the Corvette, which was publicly unveiled in prototype form just a month before. Under rapid development, the Thunderbird went from drawing board to prototype in about a year, being unveiled to the public at the Detroit Auto Show on 20th February 1954. Similar to the Corvette, the Thunderbird had a two-seat coupe/convertible layout and shared some design characteristics with other Fords of the time, such as single, circular headlamps and tail lamps together with modest tailfins. Production of the Thunderbird began later in 1954 with the car beginning sales as a 1955 model on 22nd October 1954. Click here for more information

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Convertible by Mulliner Park Ward Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Convertible by Mulliner Park Ward

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Convertible by Mulliner Park Ward

Lot #218 (Sale Order 119 of 164)

Rolls-Royce Motors formed Mulliner Park Ward by the 1961 merger of two Rolls-Royce subsidiaries: Park Ward of Willesden, London, a Rolls-Royce subsidiary since 1939 and H. J. Mulliner & Co. of Chiswick, a Rolls-Royce subsidiary since 1959. Mulliner Park Ward continues to operate as the vehicle customisation division of Bentley Motors Limited, the successor of Rolls-Royce Motors. The Corniche was a development of the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow with the two door variants of that model marketed as the ‘Silver Shadow Mulliner Park Ward’ two-door fixedhead coupé which was first seen in 1966 followed by the convertible version in 1967. The very handsome coachwork design was by John Polwhele Blatchley. The model was assembled and finished in London at Mulliner Park Ward as a continuation of the 1965 Silver Shadow Coupé, the Corniche name was applied from 1971 to all two-door coupés and convertibles. This Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Convertible was first ordered from H.A. Fox 20th January 1967 by Mr T.M. Rattigan, the playwright, and was originally going to be painted in sand with red leather and a red hood. In July 1967 the order was cancelled and the car was re-allocated for H.A. Fox own stock. At the end of 1967 the convertible was sold to Michael Caine Productions Ltd and the order changed to being painted in black with grey roof and tan leather upholstery, also specified was full air conditioning, hazard warning device, additional Grand Vitesse horns and BlueSpot self-seeker radio. The car was delivered to Sir Michael Caine, who had become a well-known actor following the success of films including Zulu, Alfie and playing Harry Palmer in The Ipcress File, Funeral in Berlin and Billion Dollar Brain, in Grosvenor Square, London in May 1968. In 1970 this very original Shadow Convertible was sold to Jake Leach, who with his wife owned the famous Chelsea restaurant The Gasworks on the Kings Road. His long-term ownership ended when he passed away in 2013. The car was sold and went into long term storage until now coming from the storage unit straight to Brooklands. Over the years it has hardly been used with the last MoT test certificate dating back from 2013 and the mileage reading 59,201. The oldest MoT test certificate on record is from 2005 with an odometer reading of 48,691. This example, except for the leather interior being re-connolized in light blue, appears to be in sound condition and is ready for cosmetic restoration and the mechanicals to be gone through. With only 505 early Mulliner Park Ward convertibles built this a rare opportunity to purchase a good project with good early providence. The car is supplied with a V5C registration document, copies of the original order forms and chassis cards supplied by the RREC, the MoT history, a picture of the car parked outside the restaurant and snippets from Memories of the Gasworks Restaurant, Chelsea. Jaguar XJS Celebration Convertible (4.0 litre) Jaguar XJS Celebration Convertible (4.0 litre)

Jaguar XJS Celebration Convertible (4.0 litre)

Lot #219 (Sale Order 120 of 164)

The Jaguar XJS is a luxury grand tourer produced from 1975 to 1996 and replaced the E-Type. The XJS was a competent replacement with better aerodynamics than the E-Type and was last produced on 4th April, 1996 by which time 115,413 had been produced during a 21 year production life. The car was re-engineered in May 1991 and renamed XJS (facelift). The rear side windows appeared enlarged and the buttresses stayed, although their appearance was minimised by the new side window treatment, as designer Geoff Lawson argued that they were part of the car's character. The car received a new 4.0 litre version of the AJ16 engine. At the same time, the car benefitted from a revision to the rear brakes; they were now fitted with outboard rear disc brakes, instead of the more complicated inboard items on previous models. It also received a more aerodynamic front and rear bumpers. Click here for more information

AC Cobra by RAM AC Cobra by RAM

AC Cobra by RAM

Lot #221 (Sale Order 122 of 164)

We are pleased to be able to offer this RAM SC Cobra, it being the original RAM demonstrator, professionally built by RAM Automotive. Ram Automotive cars, although similar in appearance to the other Cobra replicas, offer a quality not seen with many of the others. The RAM differs, under the double-skinned fiberglass shell, by way of a space frame chassis, instead of the cheaper ladder frame alternatives, and was developed in conjunction with the race constructor, Adrian Reynard and Adrian Cocking, the man behind RAM Automotive, an ex-DAX employee who left Dax to begin and develop the RAM Automotive business. The very nature of the RAM's chassis construction gives increased rigidity over most ladder frames and offers benefits in the cars handling. Jaguar top and bottom wishbones are hung onto the front of the chassis and used in conjunction with uprated road springs and dampers. At the rear of the car, a modified Jaguar XJ series rear axle is used with narrowed drive shafts. The space frame design, not only offers excellent handling characteristics, but also gives the safety conscious a well-braced body shell, there are many impact absorbing zones and the driver is surrounded by substantial framework. Also the fuel tank is set deep into the chassis behind the seats for protection. Most RAM Cobra replicas were fitted with a mildly tweaked Rover V8 engine; in some cases, such as this, an American V8 power unit was used giving similar performance to the original Shelby Cobra.'Moffy' has recently undergone works totalling over £10,000 to bring the car up to the condition that is presented today. These works included; a new handmade stainless steel exhaust system, replacement clutch cover, plate and bearings, new cylinder heads, refinished exhaust manifolds (headers), alloy sprayed, new double roller timing chains, special length push rods to suit the roller lifters, new crankshaft damper, heat shields to foot boxes and a new brake system bias valve. We are informed, that this Cobra, driven by its American Chevrolet 5357cc V8 engine via a five-speed Getrag gearbox and limited slip differential, is as raw as they come, having no driver aids, the intimidating V8 sounds superb and is nothing less than pure brutish fun! RAM Automotive have a pedigree endorsed by Shelby; this endorsement came about when a RAM replica was used as a centrepiece by Carroll Shelby at the Autosport Racing Car Show at the NEC Birmingham for the UK launch of the Shelby Transplant Trust. Today, 'Moffy' comes with its history file, including, 'How to Rebuild your Small Block Chevy' by David Vizard, historic number plate, its UK V5C registration document with it being correctly registered as a RAM Automotive SC and an MoT test certificate valid until June 2019. This Cobra is an important piece of the replica Cobra history, and we believe will surely only appreciate in time. Click here for more information

Bristol Brigand Bristol Brigand

Bristol Brigand

Lot #222 (Sale Order 123 of 164)

Historically, the Bristol Brigand was a British anti-shipping/ground attack dive bomber aircraft, developed by the BAC as a replacement for the Beaufighter. The same company, in peacetime then diversified into cars. Many models then evolved, all well-built and powerful, finally in 1982 the 412's morphed into the Beaufighter and the same trick was used on the 603 to become the Brigand. The arrival of the Brigand saw Bristol adopt the names of the famous Bristol Aeroplane Company models for its cars. The Brigand was superbly appointed; power included a turbocharger propelling this luxury coupe to over 150mph. Click here for more information

Riley 12/4 Tourer Riley 12/4 Tourer

Riley 12/4 Tourer

Lot #223 (Sale Order 124 of 164)

First introduced in 1926, Percy Riley's 9hp, 1087cc, twin camshaft four was an outstanding engine design by any standards, various versions powering Rileys until 1957. Looking to all intents and purposes like a twin overhead camshaft design, the Nine's cross-flow cylinder head featured hemispherical combustion chambers and valves inclined at an included angle of 90 degrees. The twin gear driven camshafts were mounted high in the block, operating the valves via short pushrods. This successful high camshaft layout was retained for the new Hugh Rose designed 1½ litre four introduced in 1935. The Falcon saloon debuted on this new 12hp chassis, which was also available with the familiar Kestrel saloon and Lynx tourer coachwork, while the following year the range was augmented by the Sprite two seater sports and three saloons; the Adelphi and six light Kestrel on the 112.5"" long wheelbase chassis and the all steel Merlin on the short wheelbase (106"") frame. Cadillac Coupe de Ville Cadillac Coupe de Ville

Cadillac Coupe de Ville

Lot #224 (Sale Order 125 of 164)

By the late 1950s Fleetwood-ladled bodies were becoming rarer and rarer at Cadillac and the Series 75 was among the last, although rather subtly, Fleetwood script and crests did not appear anywhere on the exterior of the car. The 1959 Cadillacs, with their amazing exaggerated tailfins and 'bullet' rear lights created a sensation on their introduction and have remained among the most celebrated and collectable of all post-war models. The frontal aspect of the design was equally extraordinary with a massive chrome grille. The cars were available as saloons, coupes and convertibles and were designed to offer the most lavishly equipped motoring in the world and accordingly this example is fully fitted with fingertip sensitive power steering, 'Wonder Bar' radio and air conditioning and cruise control. The car was intended to represent the state of the art in motoring terms at the dawn of the space age; more than fifty years later the car still stands out as a startling creation. MG A 1600 Mk. I Roadster

Lot #225 (Sale Order 126 of 164)

When the MGA arrived in 1955, it must have come as quite a shock to MG aficionados who had become accustomed to the pre-war look of the company's sports cars. It was a complete departure in styling and its beautiful streamlined body was right up to the minute in terms of appearance. It was powered by a new engine; MG had decided that the old XPAG unit had had its day and so introduced a much more modern B-series engine that had made its debut in the recently announced Magnette saloon. Ford Falcon Ford Falcon

Ford Falcon

Lot #226 (Sale Order 127 of 164)

We are delighted to offer this beautiful 1961 Ford Falcon that has been restored to an outstanding standard. This Falcon arrived into the UK, circa 1984, in a very poor state whereupon it stood for some years until being acquired by a gentleman, in 1997, who had a vision of restoring this car to the standard on display today. Employing two full time specialists in his workshop, this vision was not realised until 2013, after the car had undergone a year of full time restoration. Click here for more information

Maserati Quattroporte Maserati Quattroporte

Maserati Quattroporte

Lot #227 (Sale Order 128 of 164)

The Falcon was completely stripped of all parts and the bodyshell sandblasted with all areas of corrosion replaced or fabricated and finished in the original colour of Cambridge Blue metallic. All mechanical parts, including suspension, brakes, and the wiring harness were not only rebuilt, overhauled or replaced, but also finished to the highest standard. The highly respected motor engineers, Belcher Engineering, rebuilt the engine, manual three-speed gearbox, rear axle and steering box. Over £30,000 of receipts sit on file. This is by no means all that was spent, as there is no record for many parts, including the chrome or labour; it is estimated that the total cost of this restoration was in excess of £100,000. The correct interior materials, including the headlining, were sourced from the USA and, we think you will agree, have been trimmed to an extraordinary standard, matching the incredible detail of this Falcon. Such is that detail, that, you may not have noticed that some of the side chrome strips, that were missing when the car arrived in the UK, have been hand fabricated and finished; we cannot spot which ones these were and you certainly cannot see the fabricated, bronze window winder rollers tucked away in the doors. Front lap belts are fitted and an original FM period radio, again sourced from the USA, has been fitted. All screen and door rubbers have been replaced as well of a set of whitewall tyres. We are informed that the silky smooth 170 cubic inch (2.8 litre) straight six engine starts and runs easily with drive transferred via the three-speed, floor mounted, manual gearbox, resulting with the car driving the way you would expect with a restoration of this quality. With less than 1,000 miles since its completion, this Falcon comes complete with its history file, photographs of before, during and post restoration, a UK V5C registration document and is surely a potential prize winning car that is ready to be enjoyed immediately. Morris Traveller Morris Traveller

Morris Traveller

Lot #228 (Sale Order 129 of 164)

The Morris Minor was designed under the leadership of Alec Issigonis and over 1.3 million examples were manufactured between 1948 and 1971. Initially available as a two-door saloon and convertible, the range was subsequently expanded to include a four-door saloon in 1950 and wood-framed estate, The Traveller, in 1952. These charming and very English family cars were a typical sight on the roads for decades and for good reason. Their simplicity, practicality and price made them extremely popular. And popular they have stayed although the ash frame has always been a weak spot. Click here for more information

Ford Mustang GT Fastback 289

Lot #229 (Sale Order 130 of 164)

1966 was the last year Ford offered the original Mustang Fastback although the Mustang had a stellar year in sales. The '66 model Fastback featured a redesigned grille, new instrument cluster and new styled wheels. An automatic gearbox became available for the V8. In addition, the GT featured side racing stripes which took the place of chrome rocker panels giving the vehicle a serious performance-racing look. Although other Mustangs in 1966 sported the Mustang Pony emblem directly behind the front wheel wells, the GT Mustang featured a special GT emblem in its place. One of the most distinct features of the 1966 Fastback Mustang is the car's exit vents, which work with the vehicle's fully functional 'silent-flo' interior ventilation system. ** Withdrawn ** Citroën SM ** Withdrawn ** Citroën SM

** Withdrawn ** Citroën SM

Lot #231 (Sale Order 132 of 164)

In 1961, Citroën began work on 'Project S', a sports variant of the revolutionary Citroën DS. As was customary for the firm, many running concept vehicles were developed, increasingly complex and upmarket from the DS. Citroën purchased Maserati in 1968 with the intention of harnessing Maserati's high-performance V6 engine technology to produce a true Gran Turismo car combining the sophisticated Citroën suspension. The result was the Citroën SM; first shown at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1970 and which went on sale in France in September of that year. Factory produced cars were all left hand drive, although right hand conversions were supplied to the UK and Australia. The origin of the model name 'SM' is not completely clear. The 'S' may derive from the Project 'S' designation and the 'M' perhaps refers to Maserati; hence SM is often assumed to stand for 'Systeme Maserati' or 'Sports Maserati'. Another common alternative is 'Serie Maserati' but others have suggested it is short for 'Sa Majeste' (Her Majesty in French) which aligns with the common DS model's nickname 'La Deesse' (The Goddess). The iconic R107 Mercedes-Benz SL Roadster and SLC Coupe became so successful in the 1970's and 80's that it became their second longest production run surpassed only by the G class 4x4. Originally introduced in 1971 in 350 SL guise with a 3.5 litre V8 engine, it spawned some eight further engine derivatives and numerous options to extend the customers' desire for the wonderful roadster until 1989. While the C107 or SLC enjoyed a brief but relatively successful stint in rallying, the Roadster was always intended for luxurious top down motoring and as such, attracted celebrity ownership and a host of film and television appearances. Offering 197 bhp and a smooth automatic gearbox with a top speed in excess of 130 mph, imagine cruising along French boulevards or through Beverley Hills and you will understand the target audience for this iconic SL Roadster. This lovely example of the R106 Mercedes-Benz SL is presented in metallic blue with the complementary blue interior with the iconic check inserts and matching hood. With lovely paintwork and the original, well kept interior also boasting the original stereo, it is clear to see this car has been cherished. The history file accompanying the car contains the original maintenance booklet with numerous stamps including the most recent in April this year, this is coupled with an MoT test certificate valid until June 2019, importantly with no advisories. The current vendor purchased the car from a lady whom had the car bought for her 60th birthday and she covered a mere 800 miles during her ownership. The keeper prior to this had created a mileage log, which can be found in the history file, detailing every mile, fuel stop and maintenance record throughout his tenure, this is a nice touch and the provenance strengthens the quality of the ownership. Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG

Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG

Lot #234 (Sale Order 135 of 164)

The W210 is an executive car produced from 1995 through to 2002 and sold under the E-Class model name in both saloon and estate body types. AMG installed four engines in the W210; the body styling on all of the W210 AMG models was the same until 2000 when a facelift was implemented. The W210 E55 was the last vehicle for which a major portion of production took place at AMG in Affalterbach. Production was actually split between Affalterbach and the Bremen Mercedes-Benz facility until the end of 2001. Output of the E55 AMG was some 354bhp with a torque figure of 391ft/lb which propelled it from 0-62mph in just 5.7 seconds with a limited top speed of 155mph.These high-performance AMG saloons have become enormously popular of late and good quality examples are particularly desirable. This low mileage example in rare white with a black leather interior benefits from being a full EU specification facelift car and was imported from Japan in 2016. Since then it has been owned and cherished by its only UK owner who describes the car as stunning. An Aventgarde specification example extras include heated rear seats, rear blind, air conditioning and sunroof together with the automatic/steptronic gearbox; the private registration plate is also included in the sale. The history file shows a service history with an MoT test certificate valid until July 2019, UK V5 certificate and, with four new tyres, this E55 is a collectable and desirable example from a pre Mercedes-AMG era - something appreciated by modern classic enthusiasts. Lotus Elan S3 Drophead Coupe Lotus Elan S3 Drophead Coupe

Lotus Elan S3 Drophead Coupe

Lot #235 (Sale Order 136 of 164)

Introduced in 1962, the Elan featured a simple but effective steel backbone frame and all-independent wishbone suspension which used a modified Chapman Strut, as developed in Lotus Grand Prix cars, at the rear. Rack and pinion steering was sourced from the Triumph Vitesse and there were Girling disc brakes all round. The Elan's engine was a highly modified 1498cc (later 1558cc) Ford Cortina unit incorporating Lotus's own twin camshaft cylinder head and both the gearbox and differential came, likewise, from Ford. Introduced in November 1964, the S2 featured numerous detail styling changes and improved brakes. As one would expect given its background and specification, the Elan proved to be a highly capable circuit racer and, capitalising on the numerous successes achieved by privately entered cars, Lotus introduced their own version, the '26R', in 1964. Land Rover Series 1 Pick-up (107")

Lot #236 (Sale Order 137 of 164)

In the aftermath of the second world war, Rover's chief engineer Maurice Wilks used a 'demobbed' Willys Jeep around his farm in Anglesey and was impressed with its abilities. Eventually, it wore out and he was keen to replace it with a British vehicle, however, nothing remotely similar was available. Coincidentally, his brother Spencer, who was Managing Director at Rover, had reached the same conclusion as he struggled to get his Rover 10 to reach the more inaccessible parts of his estate on Islay. This is where The Best 4x4 by Far' started - a utility vehicle devised in 1947, they would have no idea that Maurice's resulting design would become an icon and launch a whole new industry sector. The vehicle appeared as the 'Land Rover' in 1948 and proved so popular with the military and the farming fraternity that demand massively outstripped supply. Click here for more information

Bentley Turbo R

Lot #237 (Sale Order 138 of 164)

The Bentley Turbo R was a high-performance model produced by Bentley Motors Limited. It initially inherited the turbocharged engine from the Mulsanne Turbo and also sported a re-tuned suspension and wider tyres on alloy wheels, quite a departure for a Bentley. From the 1987 model year, however, the Turbo R's V8 engine was re-tuned with new Bosch MK-Motronic fuel injection for added torque. Other modifications carried out at the same time included new sports seats and a higher rear axle ratio. Motor Trend called the Turbo R 'the first Bentley in decades deserving of the famous name' in their review of the car on its introduction to the United States in 1989. Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Roadster

Lot #238 (Sale Order 139 of 164)

The Mercedes-Benz SL (Sport Leicht) has been in production since 1954 with perhaps the most influential model being the W113 Pagoda of 1963. This second generation evolved from the 230SL to 250SL, finally becoming the 280SL. The W113 was replaced by the W107 in 1971 and as the engines became larger, the bodywork and weight of the cars also increased - as often happens in mid-life! The SL improved through the years with technical innovation but still managed to keep its fundamental character and identity of an up-market, quality sports car. Its reputation went from strength to strength and it was rare to see an episode of Dallas or Dynasty in the 1980's without an SL making a star appearance. The genius soft-top mechanism which folds down out of sight under a panel ahead of the boot lid gave the car a beautifully sleek, uncluttered appearance. Click here for more information

Mercedes-Benz CL600 Mercedes-Benz CL600

Mercedes-Benz CL600

Lot #240 (Sale Order 141 of 164)

The CL Class is the flagship of the Mercedes-Benz car range. It continued to follow the same development cycle as the S-Class though riding on a shorter wheelbase and offered with only the higher-output powertrains. It was the first Mercedes to feature Active Body Control, Bi-Xenon headlights and, on the early V12 models such as this one, it employed Active Cylinder Control. This shut down one bank of cylinders under light engine loads enabling it to achieve better fuel economy than the V8 CL500. Not bad for a car with a six litre V12 developing 367bhp and yielding a Soyuz-launching 0-60mph time of 5.9 seconds. It is as a Grand Tourer that this model is primarily designed for though. With more rear seat space than many executive saloons, a huge boot and a truly cosseting driving environment, the CL is one of the most soothing cars you could hope to take on a long trip. The performance is remarkable and the turbine-smooth V12 is, frankly, epic. Click here for more information

Jaguar XJS Convertible (5.3 litre)

Lot #241 (Sale Order 142 of 164)

The Jaguar XJS was a luxury grand tourer produced from 1975 through to 1996 and replaced the E-Type. Although it never had quite the same sporting image, the XJS was actually more aerodynamic with the last one being produced on 4th April 1996; at that stage 115,413 units had been manufactured during a 21 year production life. Power came from the Jaguar V12 engine with a choice of a manual or automatic transmission although the manual gearbox was soon dropped. V12 engine cars were unusual at the time with notable exceptions coming from Italian luxury sports car makers Lamborghini and Ferrari. The specifications of the XJS compared well with both Italian cars; it was able to accelerate to 60mph in 7.6 seconds and had a top speed of 143mph. Click here for more information

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II

Lot #242 (Sale Order 143 of 164)

When the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was released to the public in October 1965, the development departments were showing the result of work carried out over a period of some ten years. In February 1977, the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II was introduced. The most notable changes mechanically were to the rack and pinion steering and modifications to the front suspension which improved handling markedly. Click here for more information

Lancia Beta Montecarlo Spider Series I Lancia Beta Montecarlo Spider Series I

Lancia Beta Montecarlo Spider Series I

Lot #243 (Sale Order 144 of 164)

Lancia was founded on 29th November 1906 in by Vincenzo Lancia and his friend Claudio Fogolin; both Fiat racing drivers, as Lancia & C. The first Lancia, the 'Tipo 51' or 12 HP was constructed in 1907. Sadly in 1937 Vincenzo passed away and his wife and son Gianni Lancia took over the firm. They persuaded Vittorio Jano to join Lancia as an engineer; Jano had already made a name for himself by constructing some of the most successful racing Alfa Romeos of the time. The innovativeness, constant quest for excellence, the fixation of quality and complication of the construction processes together with the antiquated machinery meant that all cars essentially had to be hand-made. With little commonality between the various models, the cost of production continued to increase, whilst demand did not. The Lancia Beta Montecarlo is a mid-engined sports car which was produced from 1975 through to 1982. Cars from 1975 to 1978 were known as Lancia Beta Montecarlos and the latter cars produced from 1979 to 1982, simply as Lancia Montecarlos. Both series were offered in coupe and spyder versions and were constructed by Pininfarina. Total production amounted to 3,835 first series Beta Montecarlos and 1,940 second series. Daimler ELS 24

Lot #244 (Sale Order 145 of 164)

Produced from 1937 to 1939, the Daimler EL24 range was based on a Daimler rolling chassis, on which various coach builders fitted a variety of body styles from saloons and limousines to fixedhead and drophead coupe. The light limousine, as here, was usually bodied by Charlesworth and proved popular as Mayoral transport. The chassis was of a latticework box section with a special cruciform centre bracing which gave exceptional torsional stiffness. It also featured a built-in lubrication and jacking system with 'Gilt Edge' safety glass fitted throughout. Power came from a 3.3 litre straight-six rated at 23.8hp with push-rod operated overhead valves operated by a chain driven high clearance cam, a seven bearing crankshaft with a torsional vibration damper, SU carburettor and mechanical petrol pump. Depending on body style, the car had a top speed of around 73mph and 20-25mpg economy. Transmission was via a four-speed pre-selector gearbox with Daimler fluid flywheel and direct drive top gear. Suspension was by beam axles with semi-elliptic springs, a pair of radius rods at the front and Luvax shock absorbers. Brakes were Girling mechanical with a Dewandre servo. In all just 710 examples of all body types were made. Click here for more information

Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster

Lot #245 (Sale Order 146 of 164)

Mercedes-Benz have been producing an SL (Sport Leicht) model or range of models since 1954. The similarly styled but mechanically unrelated 190 followed in 1955, completing the first generation of cars. The second generation SL's began with the 230 in 1963. It was distinguished by its lower waistline, big curved screens and a distinctive optional hardtop that earned the model its nickname of pagoda top'. Over its nine years of production, the second generation SL's engine grew in capacity from 2.3 litre (230SL) to 2.5 litre (250SL) and finally to a 2.8 litre (280SL). The larger, third generation SL was launched in 1971, initially with just a 3.5 litre engine (350SL) mated to four-speed automatic transmission. The car featured a two door monocoque body shell with independent suspension all round, coil springs and anti-roll bar at the front, semi-trailing arms, coil springs and anti-roll bar at the rear. The power assisted steering was Daimler-Benz's own re-circulating ball system. Over its seventeen year reign, the R107 range was powered by no less than eight different engines - two sizes of straight six unit and six versions of 90 degree V8, including the three litre straight six we have offered here, produced from 1985. Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint Coupe Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint Coupe

Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint Coupe

Lot #247 (Sale Order 148 of 164)

The Alfa Romeo 2600 (series 106) was Alfa Romeo´s six-cylinder flagship and produced from 1961 to 1968. It has become historically significant as the last Alfa Romeo to have been fitted with an inline six-cylinder engine having twin overhead camshafts. This had been the traditional Alfa Romeo engine configuration since the 1920's, but gave way to four-cylinder engines as the factory oriented its production towards more economical mass-produced car models after the Second World War. The 2600 was introduced at the 1962 Geneva Motor Show and, from a sales point of view, the models were not a success despite deserved acclaim for that excellent engine. The flagship 2600 range was only a minor facelift of the 2000 range with a new engine, as this was all the factory could do with the resources available. Since the 2000 itself had basically been a 1958 restyling of the 1900, it left the 2600 with running gear a dozen years old at introduction. The 2600 Sprint made more of an impression. It was a large grand touring coupe which could seat four adults in comfort over long journeys at high speeds. As such, it did not suffer unfair comparisons to other models in the Alfa Romeo range; none of which could be directly compared to it. In that mode of operation, oriented more towards fast touring rather than sporting driving, the agility and handling balance of the smaller Alfa's mattered less, while the stability and smoother ride of the larger car, together with the wide power and torque band of the six-cylinder engine, came into their own. Added to the greater space and comfort, those virtues made a convincing case for the 2600 Sprint. The car also inherited the sharp, modern styling of its predecessor, the 2000 Sprint, and that certainly contributed to its being the top seller in the 2600 range. That shape had been the result of Giorgetto Giugiaro's first major project as head designer for Carrozeria Bertone, and is arguably one of the most influential designs in the history of automotive styling. Daimler Double-Six Series II Coupe V12 (5.3 litre)

Lot #248 (Sale Order 149 of 164)

The Daimler Sovereign was a name applied by to a sequence of luxury cars built by Jaguar but carrying the Daimler badge between 1966 and 1983; they were based on contemporary Jaguar body shells, chassis and engines. Jaguar Cars took over The Daimler Company in 1960 and the 1966 Sovereign was the second Daimler to be based on a Jaguar model. Subsequent Sovereigns arose with the series I, II and III Jaguar XJ6. The V12 versions of the Daimler, available from 1972 to 1997 were named Daimler Double-Six after the original Daimler V12s. An extended wheelbase version was introduced which eventually became the standard model. From 1975, the 2.8 litre was replaced by a 3.4 litre version of the XK engine. Finally, Jaguar introduced a short-lived two-door pillarless coupe version of the Series II using the short wheelbase floorpan with Daimler versions using both six and twelve cylinder engines. It is this, the coupe that has proved the most enduring. Built, as it was, in relatively low numbers but demonstrating a purity of profile that has become very sought after. Ford Anglia 'Allardette' Ford Anglia 'Allardette'

Ford Anglia 'Allardette'

Lot #250 (Sale Order 151 of 164)

When the Anglia 105E was introduced in September 1959, Ford switched to an overhead valve engine for its smallest family saloon. The 997cc four cylinder unit proved to be a very reliable unit and lent itself to being tuned, hence the success in Formula 3 and Formula Junior. The suspension retained the McPherson strut at the front and live rear axle however the gearbox was uprated to a four-speed unit helping the Anglia to a top speed of 73mph. Styling of the 105E was interesting with an 'open mouth' grill and reverse sloping rear window. The Anglia was an outstanding success for Ford, selling more than a million units until production ended in 1967. Click here for more information

Jaguar XJS Convertible (4.0 Litre)

Lot #252 (Sale Order 153 of 164)

The Jaguar XJS offers its owners a slice of, well deserved, motoring history defying critics, as it did, to become one of the world's most successful GT cars. From the introduction of the HE engine in 1982, the 3.6 AJ6 engine in 1984 which expanded to four litres in 1989, the cabriolet in 1985, the full convertible in 1988 and the face-lift model in 1993 to the final commemorative model in 1995. The XJS was continuously developed during its 20 year production life. It is, though, the facelift model presented here today offering a more modern look and feel. Better performance from the new 16"", five-spoke alloys and an improved interior with the biggest change being the long-awaited addition of proper rear seats. Jaguar XJ-S V12 Coupe (5.3 litre) Jaguar XJ-S V12 Coupe (5.3 litre)

Jaguar XJ-S V12 Coupe (5.3 litre)

Lot #255 (Sale Order 156 of 164)

We are delighted to offer this early example of the XJ-S range of motor cars and one with a warrantied low mileage, a rare beast indeed. This Jaguar was discovered in circa 2000 as having only 10,000 miles recorded and one lady owner with an exclusive address in Kensington, London. This Jaguar appears in very original condition today, the coachwork being very straight, with only a few age related marks. The coachwork is finished in its original colour of Squadron Blue with black painted rear panel and original polished Kent alloy wheels with excellent Pirelli P4000 tyres; it even retains a single door mirror (later models had two). Take a look inside and the originality continues; the light tan reclining seats are in good order whilst the headlining is very clean and does not droop. There is also the benefit of electric windows and inertia seat belts fitted for front and rear seat passengers. The Jaguar has had annual MoT tests with only local mileage being covered between tests, all verified by the records within the history file. That file also contains a magazine with this particular XJ-S featured upon the front cover and in an article within. We are informed that the car is a good driving example, however, please note that we are also advised that the fuel gauge is not working and the bonnet gas stays are weak; small details that a new owner may easily rectify. Inside the engine bay and boot, with battery and battery cut-off switch, appear all nice and genuine. This XJ-S comes with the afore mentioned history file, including an owner's manual, service book, a UK V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate valid until February 2019 and two sets of keys. Jaguar XJ6 Series I (4.2 litre) Jaguar XJ6 Series I (4.2 litre)

Jaguar XJ6 Series I (4.2 litre)

Lot #256 (Sale Order 157 of 164)

The Jaguar XJ6, launched in September1968, was the culmination of several years of development and a motor car specifically designed to streamline the, extensive and somewhat confusing, portfolio of models offered by Jaguar at that time. It was also the last model that Sir Williams Lyons had a, hands on, input into the design. The new car offered a measure of civility, driveability and safety that still managed to retain the principles of the earlier cars. Such was its ability the car received the Car of the Year award and the Don Safety Award, causing such a desire for these reasonable priced saloons and leading to second hand models fetching more than new cars on the dealership forecourts in its first year of production. These early examples represent the purist form of Sir William Lyon's design, with that and their outstanding ability, even on today's roads, have led them to be sought after by the connoisseur and collector alike. With the colour combination of Ascot Fawn and a tan leather interior, this Jaguar offered is a handsome example. The coachwork presents very well and an inspection of the engine bay shows a clean and tidy area, revealing that this XJ6 has been well cared for. The interior is in good order, the leather, although showing age related fading in some areas is not ripped or torn. The headlining is very good and the main focal point of the interior, the dashboard, with its array of chrome bezelled instruments (these were later changed to black) and switches, are in very good order and will certainly draw the eye. A Radiomobile eight track radio/cassette player is fitted and comes with a selection of, period, eight track, cassettes. A tow bar has been recently added to enable a lightweight 1960's race carto be taken to hill climb events only. We are informed that this Jaguar starts and drives very well, its engine pulls strongly and the automatic gearbox changes smoothly; the car being maintained as required to keep it that way. This fine example comes with a UK V5C registration document, history file and current MoT test certificate. It is only when you sit behind the wheel of an early XJ6 and experience its ambience that you may truly appreciate how good the XJ6 is and why the model has been referred to, as 'the best car in the world', here is your chance to experience that. Land Rover Series IIa (Long wheelbase) Land Rover Series IIa (Long wheelbase)

Land Rover Series IIa (Long wheelbase)

Lot #258 (Sale Order 159 of 164)

The Land Rover Series IIa is considered by many to be the hardiest Series model constructed. It is also quite possibly the model that features most strongly in the general public's perception of the Land Rover, from its many appearances in popular films and television documentaries set in Africa throughout the 1960s, such as Born Free. In February 1968, just a few months after its manufacturer had been subsumed, under government pressure, into the Leyland Motor Corporation, the Land Rover celebrated its twentieth birthday, with total production to date just short of 600,000, of which more than 70% had been exported. It was whilst the Series IIa was in production that sales of utility Land Rovers reached their peak, in 1969-70, when sales of over 60,000 Land Rovers a year were recorded. Sunbeam Talbot Mk. IIa Sunbeam Talbot Mk. IIa

Sunbeam Talbot Mk. IIa

Lot #261 (Sale Order 162 of 164)

The Sunbeam Talbot 90 was a sports saloon produced and built by the British firm by the same name from 1948 to 1954 and continued as the Sunbeam Mk. III from 1954 to 1957. The 90 was launched in 1948 along with the smaller engine Sunbeam Talbot 80 but many features dated back to the pre-war Sunbeam Talbot two litre. The body, available as a four door sports saloon or two door drophead coupe appeared completely new. The saloon featured the original AeroMinx 'pillarless' join between the glass on the rear door and the rear quarter window with its distinctive Sunbeam Talbot reverse slope. The 90 continued in production renamed as the 90 Mk. II with a new chassis and independent front suspension. The headlamps were raised by three inches to meet American regulations and the front driving lamps were replaced with a pair of small air intake grilles. The 90 Mk. II also had an enlarged overhead valve engine with 2267cc. The cars were successful rally cars with a Mk. II driven by Stirling Moss, Desmond Scannell and John Cooper taking second place in the 1952 Monte-Carlo Rally. The Mk. IIa arrived in 1952 with the main update on this model being the removal of the rear wheel spats. This was the last car to bear the Sunbeam Talbot name before the name was changed to Sunbeam Mk. III (without 'Talbot') in 1954.The Mk. IIa had a higher compression engine raising output to 77bhp. To cater for the higher speeds the car was now capable of, the brakes were enlarged and to improve brake cooling the wheels were pierced. Click here for more information

Lot #262 (Sale Order 163 of 164)

That Jaguar's XJS will become a 'bona fide' classic is beyond doubt. Launched in 1975, its twenty one year production life was a testimony to the excellence of its basic design. With all-round independent, coil sprung suspension, power assisted rack and pinion steering and disc brakes, its excellent ride/handling balance was justly praised by the contemporary motoring press. The cabriolet element of the car was often preferred over the straight convertible as it added more torsional rigidity and so increased performance. Click here for more information

Volkswagen Golf Mk. IV V5 (170bhp)

Lot #263 (Sale Order 164 of 164)

The Golf, as they say, needs little introduction suffice to say that it launched an entire new way of thinking. A small car with supercar performance; well-made and good looking. It is these qualities that ensured no one else ever really came close. Quite naturally, it evolved over the years with a few more refinements and more power. The fourth generation morphed into the V5 with the addition of an aluminium cylinder head boosting power to its highest yet, 150bhp. Fly-by-wire technology and a dashboard redesign completed the upgrade. Then came another upgrade, the desirable 170bhp version. Click here for more information
