1989 Jaguar XJS 1989 Jaguar XJS

1989 Jaguar XJS

Lot #301 (Sale Order 1 of 67)

A really smart V12 with three owners and only 10,700 miles from newSuperb coachwork in Black with a red and white pinstripeClassic Jaguar Red Leather interior appears unmarked. Very tidy engine bay.Brakes fully overhauled and fitted with new springs and dampers within the last 300 milesEstimated sensibly considering the low mileage and excellent conditionXJS' of this quality are developing real 'legs' in the current market This 1989 Jaguar XJS V12 was a cherished purchase from the outset and was first registered on 23rd January 1989, remaining with its original owner for 20 years until July 2009. Remarkably offered for sale with just 10,700 miles from new, the car still wears its original Dutton Forshaw number plates and matching Dutton Forshaw rear window sticker and tax disc holder. There is some history on file, certainly enough to authenticate the mileage, with MoTs during the first owners custodianship dated 2001 at just 6,300 miles, 2004 with 7,721, and 2005 with 8,124, probably its most intensive period of use (following which the car was on SORN Certificates for some time a number of which are on file) until its next MOT in 2009 showing a mere 27 more miles added at 8,151. Subsequent MoTs in the file and available online confirm that a further 2,600 miles were added in the last 9 years. In 2009, F395 LTY spent 6 months with its second owner, an XJS aficionado, before becoming part of a private car collection where its life of occasional use has been continued. Just 1,000 miles have been added since 2011 bringing the total to 10,700 in all. The original Bill of Sale and order paperwork are on file and this remarkable Jaguar even comes with the original sales brochure in which the first owner had marked his preferred options. The original owner's handbook, wallet and radio/cassette manual remain with the car. The car presents today in truly exceptional condition having escaped the dreaded rusting and corrosion that so often lets these cars down. The interior is as magnificent and unspoiled as the exterior and the colour combination of Gloss Black with a Bordeaux interior is a delight.A recent comprehensive service by Clarke's Jaguar (leading XJS specialists) was completed in September 2016. The work included replacing the rear shock absorbers and springs + radius arms, new front springs, drop-link bushes and bars, a full service with all oils and fluids replaced, and the underside was cleaned and protected with Waxoyl treatment to finish. The car is 'on the button', drives exactly as it should with a pleasingly quiet engine, and will undoubtedly bring much pleasure to its next keeper. Click here for more information

The car is currently owned by a Ford enthusiast who acquired the car from Stephen Harper via Auto Sales Torbay, where Jason Dale ( RS Owners Club ) acted on Stephen's behalf to sell the car.The car's specification is as follows; Escort RS Cosworth Lux, 2.0-litre, 16-Valve YBT engine featuring Garrett T25 Hybrid Turbocharger. - finished in Dark Aubergine with a Red and Grey Hex Velour Cloth ( rather rare ). 4-Wheel Drive - Original Specification 'Pirelli' 225 45 ZR 16 Asymmetric Tyres ( specially developed for the Escort Cosworth ) - 5-Speed manual Gearbox - Electric Tilt & Slide Sunroof - Heated 'Quickclear' Screen - Heated and electric wing mirrors - ABS Electronic Anti-lock Braking, with Ventilated Discs front & rear and hydraulic assistance. - Current Mileage 80,965.The car has been maintained at 'Brooklyn Ford', to 'Original Standard Ford Specification', for the vast majority of its life, with Stephen returning to the original dealership to maintain the car. ( Belts, oil etc ) The original specification 'Pirelli' 225 45 ZR 16 Asymmetric Tyres are present and all carry very good tread, with Stephen having sourced, possibly one of the final sets available, just before selling the car in 2015. The 'History File' and 'Full Ford Owners Manual Pack' contain every piece of information originally issued with the Cosworth and even the 'Brooklyn Ford' paper wallet for the 3 sets of keys is still present – a very rare item in itself. In addition, – together with the 'Ford Privilege Club' Order Form, the file also contains the original 'Purchase Invoice', 'Sales Receipt', and the DVLA 'Cherished Numbers Invoice / Receipt' for N3 SJH. The original Ford exhaust is still doing its job, the 'Brooklyn Ford' Dealership Plates, Main Dealer Sticker, and Tax disc holder are still in place as is the original stereo with all codes and paperwork in the history file. The car's interior is in lovely condition with the rather rare 'Red & Grey Hex Velour Cloth' appearing unmarked and the carpets are superb, helped by the existence of 'Ford Original Carpet Floor Mats' – including the 'Brooklyn Ford Contract Carpet Floor Mats' supplied with the car. Stephen Harper's dream as a 15-year-old boy whilst reading Autocar was to become a car designer, a dream that, pleasingly, came true. Having graduated from The Royal College of Art in Automotive Design, Stephen started at Austin Morris in 1974 as a Technical Apprentice following his father and great uncle at the firm. After the apprenticeship, he became involved in a number of projects over the years and has developed designs for Ford, Volvo, Rolls Royce, MG, Aston Martin amongst others. His involvement in the Escort RS Cosworth began whilst he was working for MGA Developments in Coventry, during 1989. Having worked with Ford on previous designs ( the Escort Van, Galaxy/VW Sharan and Mondeo projects ), he was invited to meet Stuart Turner, Rod Mansfield, and John Wheeler, together with Peter Horbury, Ron Saunders and MGA MD Mike Gibbs, to be briefed on the new CE14 Escort based project, code-named "ACE-14", an all-new rally car, based on a modified Sierra Cosworth floorpan. Ford's Motorsport Division, needed a car to replace the, recently banned, Group B RS200 and to follow on from the early rallying successes of the Sierra RS Cosworth. MGA named the project in-house 'Feral' – the domesticated cat gone wild, which truly summed up the spirit of the car! Stephen's initial sketches were based around the requirements of Ford SVE with manufacturing partners, Karmann. Stephen's designs incorporated plenty of air intakes and outlets, along with substantial bonnet air vents to meet John Wheeler's need for huge cooling intake capacity whilst the car was 100mph sideways on the dusty Acropolis Rally. He then developed the design of the Escort RS Cosworth together with Ford SVE, MGA, Karmann, and the Ford Stylin Click here for more information

1998 BMW E36 M3 Evolution Hartge 3.5 1998 BMW E36 M3 Evolution Hartge 3.5

1998 BMW E36 M3 Evolution Hartge 3.5

Lot #303 (Sale Order 3 of 67)

Just 62,000 miles, very high-spec E36 M3 Evo with a manual box and factory Hartge conversionRare in the UK, the Hartge conversion includes a 3.5-litre engine, tuned suspension and sports exhaustArguably the most desirable colour scheme of Estoril Blue and Grey Nappa LeatherIn virtually flawless condition, a unique M3 Evo with prices of the second generation cars only going one wayIn 1992, BMW introduced their new M3 at the Paris Motor Show. Based on the E36 platform, the second incarnation of the M3 was a different animal to the 1980's E30 original, with a straight-six in place of the fizzy four, modern styling and a more refined demeanour. At this time, the Motorsport Division's new take on the iconic M3 was to utilise the standard M50TU engine (used in other E36s and earlier E34s), however, there were numerous upgrades over the standard M50 including individual throttle plates for each cylinder, continuously variable 'Vanos' valve timing, lightweight pistons, graphite-coated connecting rods, larger inlet valves, and re-designed equal length exhaust manifolds. The resultant 24-valve, S50B30 engine had a capacity of 2990cc and produced 282bhp, an output approaching 100bhp/litre, pretty impressive. The torque curve is not dissimilar to Ayers Rock, in that it is high and flat - and the dual mass flywheel contributes to the engine's ability to rev to nearly 7,300rpm. In 1996, the M3 was developed further with an increase in capacity to 3,152cc becoming known as the (M3) Evolution. The model was also remembered for its road holding and all-round ability and was awarded "Best-Handling Car" by Car and Driver magazine in 1997.The example we have on offer is a face-lift Evolution built in December 1997 and first registered in February 1998. Having been specified from new with an impressive list of options including; metallic Estoril Blue paint, Grey Nappa leather, rear spoiler, top-tint screen, Power front and rear windows, Sunshine roof, Armrest, Business radio, Park distance control and auto-air-conditioning. Another option ticked when ordering this example was to have the car delivered directly to the Hartge workshop for some further improvements, for the added cost of £16,000. The Hartge package included a 3.5 engine conversion taking power output from 320 to 350bhp, tuned suspension, sports exhaust, 17'' Hartge alloy wheels, bespoke interior components, and exterior decals. Becoming increasingly popular and difficult to source in excellent condition, this E36 M3 offers a very rare opportunity to own an example that is showing just 62,000 miles and has the added benefit of a conversion from new by a highly regarded team of engineers whose name is synonymous with the BMW Motorsport racing teams of the 80s and 90s. Having formed part of a collection, this car has been subject to a light recommissioning including a replacement Vanos unit by 'Mr Vanos', a full inspection service, and recent MoT. The car presents in immaculate condition inside and out and performed without fault on test. To be sold with the V5 showing just 3 previous owners, original book packs, order forms from BMW and Hartge, old MoT Certificates, and various other receipts and invoices. This is a true drivers car, and with E36 M3 values steadily on the increase this may turn out to be a serious investment, but will certainly turn out to be serious fun. 1963 Jaguar E-Type Series I 3.8 Roadster 1963 Jaguar E-Type Series I 3.8 Roadster

1963 Jaguar E-Type Series I 3.8 Roadster

Lot #305 (Sale Order 5 of 67)

UK-supplied, right-hand drive car in Opalescent Silver Blue with a dark blue interiorOrdered from Ritches Ltd of Glasgow on 13/02/1963. Original order form with the carReturned to the UK in 1983. Current owner for 18 yearsWith its Jaguar Book Pack, Sales and Service Handbook, Buff Log Book, and the original Tool KitSupplied with a history file containing 27 previous MoTs and some invoices dating back to 1977Restored roughly 12 years ago, now displaying some blistering on the paintwork Attractively guided to allow for cosmetic improvements. '388 XKE' will remain with the car It is difficult to imagine the impact that the Jaguar E-type had when it was launched back in 1961. When the average saloon had a top speed of 70 mph and most were desperately dull, the E-type was an instant sensation, pre-empting computer-aided design. The eminent aerodynamicist, Malcolm Sayer, uniquely applied complex mathematical formulae to create the E-Type's stunning shape. Ironically, he hated being called a stylist, yet he designed what is arguably one of the most beautiful cars ever seen. Today's manufacturers build hundreds of prototypes when developing a new car but Jaguar built only a handful of cars prior to launch and the story of the E-type is now legendary around the globe.388 XKE is finished in Opalescent Silver Blue metallic with a Dark Blue leather interior and matching Dark Blue convertible hood and was first registered in February 1963 (as FSW 414) to a Mrs.Margaret Martin of Castle Douglas in Dumfries and Galloway. According to the original Log Book, it had a further two owners to leaving the country for foreign parts just after 1974. We are led to believe the car returned to the UK during December 1983 and has since been enjoyed by five owners with the current custodian having that pleasure for the past 18 years. The car comes with its original Jaguar Handbook Folder containing the Operators, Maintenance and Service Handbooks and a Jaguar Sales and Service Handbook along with the original order form from Ritches Ltd of Glasgow ( 13/02/1963 ) Also in the pack is the original Buff Logbook detailing the first owners prior to going abroad. This Jaguar comes with a history file dating back to the 70s with a total of 27 older MoT Certificates and quite a few bills for completed works, both mechanical and bodywork over the years. The car had a bare metal respray approximately 12 years ago, along with a new hood, and an interior refurb at the same time although, unfortunately, there is no evidence in writing of these works. However, today 388 XKE clearly needs some attention to the body and paint as there is evidence of blistering, however, it still looks pretty smart and this is clearly an ongoing usable project. With this in mind, the Jaguar has been attractively guided, making this a great opportunity, for a reasonable outlay, to get behind the wheel of one of these desirable Series 1 Roadsters. Full Vauxhall main dealer service history. 8 services in less than 8,000 milesAll original Hand and Service books. DVLA MoT History, along with Spare KeysThis must be the Lowest Mileage One Owner Example of this Marque on offer in the market todayDeveloped in conjunction with Lotus and actually built at the Lotus factory in Norfolk, the VX220 was by far the most exciting sportscar that Vauxhall had ever produced. Very similar to the superb Lotus Elise, the VX220 had an aluminium chassis tub and lightweight GRP bodywork which gave it an all-up weight of just 930kg. Power came from Vauxhall's smooth and punchy 16-valve 2.2-litre Ecotec engine which developed 145bhp and 150lb/ft of torque. It could launch the car to 60mph in just 5.5 seconds with a top speed of 140mph. Unanimously hailed by the motoring press as one of the all-time great drivers' cars, it was also voted Top Gear's 'Car of the Year' in 2003.This sparkling little VX220 2.2-litre Targa was first registered on 4/10/2002 and has only covered 7,948 miles from new with its one and only owner. It has a full Vauxhall Main Dealer service history and despite its limited mileage, has been serviced eight times. It is finished in Brilliant Silver with Red leather and Charcoal suede sports seats and is supplied with the original factory removable Targa panel and soft top. The car is accompanied by its original Handbooks, its MoT History, and two sets of keys. Prices for these focussed little cars bottomed a few years ago and now they are very much on the climb. An active forum supports owners and specialists have begun to remanufacture unobtainable parts, all clear signs that the VX220 has reached classic status. This must be one of the lowest mileage, one owner cars on the market and would be perfect for a Vauxhall collector or VX enthusiast. Click here for more information

1991 Ford Fiesta RS Turbo - 3,882 miles 1991 Ford Fiesta RS Turbo - 3,882 miles

1991 Ford Fiesta RS Turbo - 3,882 miles

Lot #308 (Sale Order 8 of 67)

A true 'time-warp' example - with an incredible 3,882 milesAs original as you'd expect and in the best colour Potent CVH 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine with a Garrett T2 turbocharger 132bhp with a top speed of 133 mph and a 0-60 time of 7.9 secondsThe Fiesta RS Turbo was the high-performance model in the Ford Fiesta Mk3 range and was introduced as a three-door version only, in April 1990 with production continuing until 1992.Theoretically, it was only available from specially appointed Ford RS dealers, which was a bit of a marketing ploy. Powered by a potent CVH 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine with a Garrett T2 turbocharger, it was blindingly quick, developing 132bhp with a top speed of 133 mph and a 0-60 time of 7.9 seconds. The transmission was lifted from an Escort RS Turbo and the suspension was developed to cope with the higher cornering speeds. Visually, there was a set of 14'' RS alloy wheels, a body kit, green rather than blue stripe mouldings, colour-coded rear spoiler and door pillars, opening rear quarter windows, green tinted glass and RS bonnet louvres. Anti-lock brakes and a 'Quickclear' heated front windscreen were options at extra cost.Inside the car, the differences included Raven coloured Recaro seats trimmed in Benetton/Ascot, a grey leather trimmed gear knob, and a three-spoke steering wheel with the RS Turbo logo embossed on the centre cap. The car was also fitted with a sunroof, electric windows, and central locking. The car presented here then, is something very special indeed. It is a completely standard 1991 Ford Fiesta RS Turbo, having covered just 3,882 verifiable miles. This car was bought new by a Mr Lee Robert Hannah on the 8th August 1991 and was used only sparingly, covering just 3,500 miles before, in 1995, it was SORN'd and taken off the road for safe-keeping. Lee also owned a 1989 Ford Escort RS Turbo S2 (Lot: 311 in this auction), which he and his father both shared and cherished over the years. Both being Ford enthusiasts, their cars were always extremely very looked after. Very sadly, Lee passed away leaving both cars to his father, transferring ownership prior to his passing, with his father now showing as the 2nd keeper (on this Fiesta).Subsequently, Mr Hannah left the cars in storage until July 2017, when he then sent both to his local Ford garage to be fully serviced (including new timing belts etc.). Since then, this immaculate Fiesta has covered a further 6 miles only. The car is in simply outstanding condition, the interior can only be described 'as new', whilst it is totally original under the bonnet, with its original Ford exhaust system and Fiesta RS Turbo-specific square tailpipe still present. Likewise, the underside of the car is totally as it left the factory, with all markings still in place, including all the factory Waxoyl; the word 'Turbo' on the fuel tank is also clearly visible. The original tyres have been replaced due to their age, otherwise, the car remains exactly as it was. Unsurprisingly, the car is accompanied by spare keys, all its Ford booklets and manuals, plus all receipts and invoices for everything ever done to it. The original purchase receipt and finance proposal are also present. This really is a 'one-off' car with probably the lowest mileage of any Fiesta RS Turbo anywhere. This is a real opportunity to buy a remarkable example of a rare 'Fast Ford'. Very seldom do completely unmolested RS cars with so few miles and a confirmable history come to the market. With classic Ford prices for exceptional cars only going one way, this Fiesta RS could be a shrewd purchase. Click here for more information

1986 Porsche 911 (930) Turbo SE 'Flat Nose' 1986 Porsche 911 (930) Turbo SE 'Flat Nose'

1986 Porsche 911 (930) Turbo SE 'Flat Nose'

Lot #309 (Sale Order 9 of 67)

One of only 18 UK, right-hand drive (C16) cars in 1986. Well spec'd from new In 'The Patrick Collection' for the first few years, 5 owners in total. Indicated mileage is 33,791Strikingly finished in Minerva Blue Metallic with an Ivory and Blue interior and matching Fuchs alloysStamped service book, comprehensive history file, appropriate registration C16 TSE, fresh MoT In late 1973, in contrast to most car manufacturers who were struggling with the fallout from the oil crisis, Porsche was on a high. Having accrued a wealth of experience of turbocharging air-cooled engines from their racing programme, it seemed to make perfect sense for Porsche to utilise that knowledge by applying it to their famous rear-engined sports car, and consequently, at the 1973 Paris motor show, they unveiled a prototype turbocharged 911, the Type 930.By attaching a KKK turbocharger to its 3.0 air-cooled flat-six engine (that could trace its origins back to the 911 RSR), the 930 was the most powerful production Porsche thus far and, suddenly, the 911 was a supercar. The production-ready 911 Turbo was shown at the Paris show in autumn 1974, and not surprisingly in an era when turbocharging was seen as rather exotic, captivated the world's motoring press. Rightly, it was billed as a supremely fast and luxurious flagship model, combining ballistic performance and head-turning looks with air conditioning, electric windows and other creature comforts. The car's power and performance were celebrated (and kept on the ground) by an enormous 'whale-tail' spoiler and a wider track that needed those bulging wheel arches to keep it decent. Anyone who followed the 'World Championship of Makes' (essentially an international championship for long-distance Sports Car racing), will remember their surprise at the shape of the new 935 when it first appeared at Mugello in March 1976. Subsequently, these 'Flat Nose' 935s and 936s (in Group 6) were to prove very competitive in the hands of Ickx, Mass and Stommelen and during the next two seasons managed four victories in eight World Championship races and a triumph at Le Mans in each year. However, Porsche began to worry that all these high-profile victories by the works Flat Nose cars – most famously the 'Moby Dick' 935 - might alienate the vast number of private clients who were investing their own money in conventionally shaped competition 911s, hence decided to restrict their efforts for 1978 to an entry at Le Mans. However, the distinctive look of these Le Mans cars struck a chord in the minds of their road car customers. This demand was initially catered for by 'Kremer Racing' who offered a conversion but subsequently this service was taken up by the factory's own Customer Department to special order (Sunderwunschen) from 1981, only becoming a factory option in 1986. Officially titled 911 Turbo SE Flachbau, the model was over twice as expensive as a standard 930 Turbo when new and featured the dramatic, 935-style, sloping front end in steel with cooling vents and 'pop-up' headlights, extra cooling intakes at the rear, an uprated engine of 330bhp (from 300), a dual-exit exhaust, and a limited slip differential, The interior was more luxurious with pockets under both sides of the dashboard, heated front seats, a sunroof, a unique centre console, steering wheel, and a gear lever knob with gold crests. The term 'Flachbau" literally translates as 'Low build' however in the UK they have become known as Flatnose, Slantnose or SE cars. This stunning Porsche is a genuine 1986 (C16) UK car and was finished in Minerva Blue Metallic with an Ivory and Blue leather interior before being delivered to Monarch Porsche of Birmingham. It's one of only 18 Flat Nose cars imported into the UK that year, all of which were coupes. When ordered by Monarch for their customer the following options were chosenC16. UK specification RHD. 058. Recoil bumpers. 139. Heated passenger seat.220. Limited slip differential 40%.261. Heated and adjustable passenger door mirror. 330. Blaupunkt Toronto stereo. 340. Heated driver's seat. 383 and 387. Sports seats with electric height adjustment. The car comes with its original hand and stamped service books, a comprehensive history file, the appropriate registration number C16 TSE, and a fresh MoT. The current indicated mileage is 33,791.The cars first owner was Alexander Patrick of Patrick Motors who, after a short period of use, placed it into the, fondly remembered, Patrick Collection in Birmingham. The Porsche was subsequently enjoyed by a further three owners before becoming the property of our vendor, who has also used it lightly before placing it in storage where it has been relaxing for the last five years.A fabulous example of one of these very rare Flachbau Porsches. 1999 Aston Martin V8 Coupe 1999 Aston Martin V8 Coupe

1999 Aston Martin V8 Coupe

Lot #310 (Sale Order 10 of 67)

Last of the hand built, Ford tenure Aston's 5.3-litre V8,349bhp,369lb/ft, 0-60 in 5.9secs and 170mphSuperbly presented in Buckingham Green with Magnolia hide piped in GreenFirst registered to Aston Martin and sold to its only owner after three monthsTop Drawer service history with 14 stamps from Aston Martin Works. 28,500 miles Works 'Safety Check at 18,452 miles. A full set of invoices detailing attentionVery rare car. Number 48 of only 101 Coupés built Under Ford Motor Groups tenure in the early nineties, Aston Martin launched the V8 Coupé at the 1992 British International Motor Show and such was the transformation that it only bore a passing resemblance to the Virage. The new car's styling was comprehensively updated to create a far more aggressive appearance, every panel, with the exception of door skins and roof, being different to that of the Virage. Revised cylinder heads, camshafts and pistons were also added along with twin Eaton Superchargers giving the new car an impressive 550bhp. Significant improvements to chassis and braking systems, larger wheels and tyres, and a completely new interior with Connolly hides and Burr Walnut fascias rounded off the new car. With the demise of the Virage in 1995, and for those customers who liked the look of the new Vantage but didn't want the brutal power of the twin supercharged V550, Aston Martin began to offer the 'V8 Coupe' which was launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 1996. This model shared the same chassis and body as the Vantage V550, with minor revisions to wheel arches and grille, and had basically the same interior. It also shared the same enhanced 5.3-litre V8 in fuel injected form, but without the twin superchargers, mated to a 4-speed Chrysler 'TorqueFlite' automatic gearbox resulting in a more relaxed uncomplicated car but still an Aston Martin with 350 bhp and a 0-60 time of 5.9 seconds!Production of the V8 Coupe ran until 1999 by which time only 101 examples had been built, one of the last truly hand-built Astons before the factory geared up for Vanquish production. This lovely example is finished in Buckingham Green with matching carpets and piping on the Magnolia leather seating. Number 48 of just 101, it was first registered in September 1999 to Aston Martin themselves before being sold a few months later to its one and only keeper who has diligently returned it for servicing on every single occasion to the factory where it was built. A one hundred per cent service record at the Newport Pagnell Works is the automotive equivalent of a Coutts chequebook and it doesn't get much better. There are 14 service stamps in the book from the first at 494 miles on 25/05/2000 to the most recent at 28,335 miles on 27/09/2016 and the car was subject to a Works Safety Check at 18,452 miles. The current indicated mileage is around 28,500 and the car's Ownership File contains detailed invoices relating to its attention at the factory. As you might expect, given its low mileage and history of care, this rare Aston is in superb condition both cosmetically and mechanically. The V8 Coupe was the 'last of the breed' before the arrival of the new era DB7 Vantage V12 and the Vanquish, and as such will always remain desirable and collectable, looking particularly appealing at today's guide and half the price of a V550. 1989 Ford Escort RS Turbo S2 1989 Ford Escort RS Turbo S2

1989 Ford Escort RS Turbo S2

Lot #311 (Sale Order 11 of 67)

Coming from a true Ford enthusiastA lovely example in very genuine condition with original paintwork and just 37,342 milesThe 'Series 2' Escort RS Turbo (1986-1990) was a much more civilised driving prospect1600cc, fuel-injected CVH engine now fitted with the water-cooled Garret T3 turbo and revised engine managementImproved gearbox, larger clutch and a limited-slip differential Based on the success of the previous model (subsequently known as the Series 1), the later Series 2 Escort RS Turbo (produced between 1986-1990) was more suited to the road, whereas the earlier car was a bit of a 'homologation special'. Many new features were adopted for the Series 2 including utilising the 1600cc fuel-injected CVH engine taken from the Series 1 Turbo but now fitted with the Garret T3 turbo (water-cooled, unlike the S1), revised engine management settings, lower overall gearing, an improved gearbox and limited slip differential, a larger clutch and improved KE Jetronic unit and inter-cooler. Suspension and chassis changes included stiffer front and rear springs, uprated anti-roll bars, mechanical ABS and larger brakes. The Series 2 car produced an impressive 132bhp at 5750 rpm, with maximum torque of 133 lb/ft produced at 2750 rpm, giving it ample performance with a top speed of 125 mph and a 0-60mph time of 8.3 seconds. The car presented here is a 1989 Ford Escort RS Turbo (Series 2). It was purchased new through the Ford dealership 'Quicks' of Old Trafford, by a Mr Lee Robert Hannah on the 30th March 1989. The car was used by Lee and his father, and in its early years, the V5C records a change of ownership between father to son, on two occasions. Both Ford enthusiasts looked after the car very well and maintained it via 'Quicks', who ensured it was Waxoyl'd from new. The history file shows the car's first MoT was carried out at 10,378 miles in July 1992, and it was regularly used until 2005, including family holidays to France (as shown by the old Polaroid pictures in the history file). At this point, the mileage had reached 37,303, and it is around this time that the car was SORN'd and placed into storage. Then, in 2017, this car (along with its sister car, a Fiesta RS Turbo, Lot: 308 in this auction) were taken to the local Ford dealership to be recommissioned and fully serviced (including timing belts etc.). Since then the car has covered just 18 miles more. Both cars were cherished by the family, which is why Lee's father kept them both for so long after his son's untimely passing. This particular Escort RS Turbo is somewhat unusual, in that it has the '88-spec bumpers and rear spoiler, but the '90-spec Interior; a few of these cars are known to exist, referred to as a 'changeover car', built during the period whilst Ford was revising the specification of the Escort RS Turbo. This is an immaculate example of the now revered Escort RS Turbo S2 with a fully documented history. It has been cherished all its life and is surely one for the enthusiast-collector. Click here for more information

1964 Bentley S3 Continental by Mulliner Park Ward 'Chinese Eye' 1964 Bentley S3 Continental by Mulliner Park Ward 'Chinese Eye'

1964 Bentley S3 Continental by Mulliner Park Ward 'Chinese Eye'

Lot #312 (Sale Order 12 of 67)

Supplied new to Sydney, Australia in 1964. Repatriated to the UK in 2015In an attractive shade of Caribbean Blue Metallic with original St. James red leather and Burr Walnut We understand that the car has covered 118,000 miles however there is (currently) no service historyFitted with a full-length sunroof and air-conditioning. Recently serviced at a Bentley specialistThe Continental S3 was favoured by celebrities and royalty alike, and was the epitome of 'Cool' in 1964 Bentley's magnificent Continental sports saloon has been synonymous with effortless high speed cruising in the grand manner since its introduction on the R-Type chassis in 1952. With the arrival of the final (S-Type) generation of six-cylinder cars in 1955, the Continental lost a little of its individuality but none of its exclusivity and this trend continued after the arrival of the V8-engined S2 in 1959. Although the S2 appeared externally unchanged, its performance was considerably enhanced by the new 6,230cc V8 engine. Power-assisted steering was now standard and there was no longer the option of a manual gearbox, Rolls-Royce's own four-speed automatic being the sole offering. The Bentley Continental was, of course, exclusively a coachbuilt automobile. The firms of H J Mulliner, Park Ward and James Young all offered bodies on the Continental S2 chassis. By far the most striking of these S2 Continentals were those bodied by Rolls-Royce's in-house coachbuilder Park Ward, and this design by Norwegian Vilhelm Koren, with its influential continuous front-to-rear wing line, would continue on the S3 Continental. Quad headlamps were the S3's major styling innovation, and on the H J Mulliner, Park Ward-bodied Continental they were contained in slanting nacelles, giving rise to this model's 'Chinese Eye' sobriquet. Headlamps aside, the most significant change was to the S3's engine, which boasted an increased compression ratio and larger carburettors, modifications that raised peak power by some 7%. Of the 312 S3 Continentals built between 1962 and 1966, a considerable number were supplied to prominent sportsmen and contemporary celebrities including Jayne Mansfield, Fanny Craddock, Sir John Mills and Harry Belafonte as they were "the car to be seen in" and pleasingly the Continental still retains that cachet. This lovely example dates from 1964 and is finished in an attractive shade of Caribbean Blue Metallic with original St. James red leather upholstery and Burr Walnut fascia and door cappings. It was supplied new by Mcdermott & Co. Bentley agents in Sydney, Australia where it has spent most of its life. It's A really beautiful example that has been maintained without regard to expense and, as a result, it drives in complete silence feels taut and smooth. Having been in sunny antipodean climes for decades, we understand that it is corrosion free and in excellent order underneath. We are advised that this pretty Continental has covered a total of 118,000 miles from new, however, although the car was repatriated to the UK in 2015, repeated attempts to trace its service history have failed (at this stage) so, we would advise potential buyers to form an opinion based on a close inspection, which is probably the best way with any classic, really. The car is fitted with a full-length Webasto sunroof and air conditioning, both of which were much appreciated when our vendor took the Continental on an extended trip to the Le Mans Classic in July of this year, during which it 'never missed a beat'. It was recently treated to a Bentley specialist service and will be given a, 'confidence-inspiring' once over before the auction. We can't help feeling that the World was a better place in 1964 when this bespoke Bentley rolled out the doors of HJ Mulliner, however, I imagine that a trip down through central France in this wonderful Continental on a sunny day with the Webasto rolled all the way back, would do a fair bit to restore anyone's faith in human nature. 1969 Jensen Interceptor Mkl 6.3-litre 1969 Jensen Interceptor Mkl 6.3-litre

1969 Jensen Interceptor Mkl 6.3-litre

Lot #313 (Sale Order 13 of 67)

A desirable late Mkl model with sought-after Italian dashboard. Restored some years agoVery genuine. Just three former keepers; the previous owner for 20 years Recently painted in the correct colour, whilst retaining a charming patina Well-known to the Owners Club; large history file Mklll wheels fitted to accommodate uprated Coopercraft front brakesFirst shown in London at the October 1966 Earls Court Motor Show, the Jensen Interceptor Mkl had a model life of just three years, before being superseded in October 1969 by the Interceptor MkII. Only 1,024 examples of the original car were built, with 923 being right-hand drive automatics, and just 30 or so are believed to survive today.Jensen started as a coachbuilding firm in the early 1930s, and after a period of putting their distinctive bodies on other manufacturers products, the company started producing their own sports cars. Oddly enough, for a company experienced in both design and coachwork, the Interceptor was actually designed by Carrozzeria Touring in Italy and built by Vignale, with the all-steel bodyshell arriving in the Midlands to then be paired with the inimitable 6.3-litre Chrysler V8 and automatic transmission. The Interceptor has rightly become one of the classic GT cars, favoured by Royalty and Rock Stars alike, and known to be smooth, quiet, very refined and easy to drive. When new it cost substantially more than an Aston Martin and was double the price of an E-Type Jaguar......The car presented here is a 1969 Jensen Interceptor Mark l 6.3, making it a late-production example of the original cars, and was first registered in January 1969. The car is in lovely genuine condition and is very solid, having been known to the owners' club for several years. Our vendor, who works in the exacting aviation industry, searched high and low for the soundest example he could find. Not content with its former paintwork, he had it expertly repainted in the correct hue of Old English White (whilst also having some parts re-chromed). It suits the car's lines perfectly, contrasting nicely with the very original black interior, which is gently patinated and still retains a characteristic smell of quality leather. The odometer currently indicates a mileage of 71,000 and, looking at the historical information in the owner's file and the car's overall condition, this would seem wholly credible (but is not verified). The car runs and drives very well, with good oil pressure and the addition of twin electric fans and a reserve electric fuel pump alleviates two of the model's known weaknesses. The car was purchased with the bigger (and better-looking) Mklll wheels fitted, which accommodate uprated 'Coopercraft' brakes. The Jensen has recently been serviced by the local specialists who have been looking after its mechanical needs for some time. A reconditioned gearbox was fitted just 1,000 miles ago, and that continues to work well A striking blend of Anglo-Italian with an Americana heart, the Interceptor Mkl certainly ticks a lot of boxes. Our diligent private vendor is a real classic car enthusiast, who's move abroad necessitates this car now being offered for sale. A rare opportunity today and viewing is thoroughly recommended. 1955 Jaguar XK140 FHC 1955 Jaguar XK140 FHC

1955 Jaguar XK140 FHC

Lot #314 (Sale Order 14 of 67)

• Original, UK-supplied, right-hand drive 140, first registered in Liverpool
• Superbly restored around 5 years ago. Further recommissioning recently including conversion to wire wheels
• At some point, it has been fitted with a more powerful 3.8-litre engine from an XK150
• Fresh MOT, V5c, lots of invoices, Jaguar Daimler Heritage Certificate
• Sporting the appropriate registration number '140 FLF' this is a really lovely classic 140
The ever-popular Jaguar XK140 was introduced in October 1954 and remained in production until 1957. Rather than being an uncompromised sports car, the 140 was a much more comfortable and capable long distance machine than its predecessor the XK120. Upgrades included more interior space, improved brakes, rack and pinion steering, increased suspension travel, and telescopic shock absorbers and the styling was enhanced with a revised grille and larger bumpers along with new rear lights, which now incorporated the indicators. Available in Coupé, Drop Head Coupé or Roadster styles, the car was an immediate hit! Road going versions were powered by the Jaguar XK 3.4 litre engine with the Special Equipment modifications from the XK120, raising the specified power by 10bhp to 190bhp at 5500rpm, as standard.
This particular XK140 is an original, right-hand drive, Fixed Head Coupé manufactured in 1955 and is one of only 842 right-hand drive, home market cars. It was first registered on June 11th, 1955 by Litherland Motors of Liverpool and sold to a Mr Thomas Melling of Southport finished in the classic combination of Old English White with contrasting red leather trim and red carpets. Around five years ago, prior to our vendor's purchase, the Jaguar was subject to an extensive overhaul and, body-off, respray by a leading marque specialist. According to the accompanying paperwork the work carried out included;
Bodywork; doors, bonnet and boot lid re-fitted to produce excellent shut lines. Entire body fully prepared, primed and painted, including door shuts, engine bay and wheels. Brightwork polished and replaced where necessary. Body cavities wax injected and new body sealing rubbers fitted all around. Mechanicals; brakes serviced, gearbox rebuilt, oil & filters changed. Engine bay wiring fully overhauled. Cylinder block, head and radiator cleaned and painted. Cam covers and carburettor dash pots polished. Interior; Seats 're-Connollised' and the carpets cleaned. The account for this apparently totalled some £12,000.
It should be noted that at some stage in the car's history a stronger, more powerful 3.8-litre engine from the later XK150 has been fitted.
The expenditure has continued during our vendor's ownership and the car has been fitted with new stub-axles enabling the fitting of a set of chrome wire wheels, an engine tune and carb set-up and has covered only 4000 since competion of the work. The car remains in excellent condition and is sold with a fresh MOT Certificate, its Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, and the desirable registration number - '140 FLF'.
This is a really lovely XK140, one of the nicest we have seen.

1979 Ford Capri 3000S 1979 Ford Capri 3000S

1979 Ford Capri 3000S

Lot #315 (Sale Order 15 of 67)

Strong 3.0 Essex engine - fully rebuilt just 1,200 miles ago £10,000 restoration - based on a very solid original shellOriginal registration, only 4 former keepers, rare non-sunroof modelIn the era-defining colour of Signal Orange; the performance bargain of the 1970sSubtle performance upgrades; drives superbly As exciting as the Capri Mkll was rational, the Mklll (1978-1986) was one of the industry's most effective facelifts with a distinctly modern shape, and its improved aerodynamics naturally resulted in better performance and economy. Quad headlights, wrap-around bumpers and a plethora of TV star associations restored the Capri's 'mojo'. At launch, the existing engine and transmission combinations of the Capri Mkll were carried over. Only two 3.0-litre versions of the Mklll were available, the 3000S (Sport) and the luxury Ghia. The 3000S is now generally regarded amongst enthusiasts as the most desirable. The character of the car stems from its cast-iron V6 engine. This is the legendary British-built, 2994cc 'Essex' version (not the 2.8-litre German V6 which was adopted by the Granada range), putting out 138bhp and a healthy 174 lb/ft of torque at 3,000 rpm. It's such a basic, solid but effective design, described by a motoring journalist of the time: ''I have visions of this engine having been created by a Dagenham blacksmith beating it out on an anvil, with its character akin to a shire horse: totally un-temperamental, uncannily flexible and effortlessly powerful.'' This mighty engine and better aerodynamic efficiency meant the hard-charging Mklll 3000S now combined a 0-60 mph in 8.5 seconds with a 122 mph top speed. Heady stuff indeed. The car presented here is a 1979 Ford Capri Mklll 3000S in a totally restored condition. This particular car, a rarer non-sunroof model and wearing its original registration number, has had just four previous keepers, the first of which was a manager at a Ford Dealership. Its closeted life meant it was a prime candidate for an extensive £10,000 restoration, with the restorer stating the shell was one of the best he'd ever started with. The inner wings and floor-pans are all believed to be original. The car benefited from a complete bare-shell renewal just two years ago and is now finished in 'Signal Orange' – a suitably extrovert colour for the 'less than shy' 3000S. A thorough approach to the job saw the underside blasted, etch-primed, 2k primed, painted with U-POL Raptor tinted signal orange, then finished with a good coat of 2k Ford Signal Orange. The engine was professionally rebuilt by Paul Finch of 'Finch Motorsport' in Northampton just 1,200 miles ago, fitted with a new Weber DGAS carburettor and a V34 rally camshaft, and is said to run and drive superbly. The restoration work also created an opportunity to fit a 2.8 special rear end, single leaves, an LSD, 2.8 special front struts, new control arms, and a full manifold-to-tip stainless steel Janspeed exhaust system. There are new 4-spoke RS wheels with R888R tyres, original and properly fitted Ford small logo flaps, plus original clips and fixtures etc. The Recaro seats and 'Carla' check cloth are in immaculate condition with original fishnets fitted, and no holes in the parcel shelf or door-cards. Everything is said to work as it should, even the clock. Our vendor describes the car as 'wanting for nothing', with an MoT valid until June 2019, hence he keeps it in a protective 'Carcoon'. If you've always wanted a special Capri – the 3000S is considered to be one of the stand-out models – then this example is the car for you. Don't miss it! Click here for more information

1978 Ford Escort MkII Mexico 1978 Ford Escort MkII Mexico

1978 Ford Escort MkII Mexico

Lot #316 (Sale Order 16 of 67)

All the attributes and charisma of its legendary predecessor Only 2,500 MkII Mexicos were built making them very scarce3-year restoration using genuine Ford parts. Original matching numbers 1600 cc Pinto professionally rebuiltSuperbly finished in Diamond White. Interior entrusted to marque-specialists, Aldridge TrimWe never use the expression "As new", but if we did, it would certainly apply here It was the Escort that really put Ford on the rallying map, proving capable of winning World Championship events from 1968, when the Twin Cam model was the works' frontline rally car, right through to 1981 when Ari Vatanen became World Rally Champion driving an Escort RS. In 1970 the Ford Twin Cam engine was replaced by a Cosworth BDA 16-valve unit to create the definitive Escort rally car - the RS1600 - though the engine was, in fact, homologated at 1,601cc to enable future enlargement up to the 2-litre class capacity limit. The first full 2.0-litre engines were homologated in 1972 and in works trim produced 235-240bhp. In this form, the Escort RS1600 proved good enough to win the RAC Rally three times on the trot between 1972 and 1974, as well as a host of other World Championship events. There was also a closely related 'spin-off' variant: the overhead-valve Kent-engined Mexico, which was intended to cater for those that wanted the RS1600's style but had no need for its stupendous performance. When the Escort was re-launched as the MkII in 1975, Ford were keen not to lose any momentum on the sportier versions of the standard saloon and almost immediately made a 'Mexico' version available. Produced in Saarlouis, West Germany, the Escort MKII Mexico was produced between 1975 - 1978 replacing its MkI namesake. Only around 2,500 were manufactured and the specification was similar to the earlier car with a 1600cc engine, this time utilising the overhead-cam Pinto unit. It featured an aluminium sump, engine mounts, alternator bracket, and a cast iron manifold. The gearbox was the 4-speed Type-B unit mated to the 'English' type rear axle. Suspension was the ubiquitous McPherson strut set up with Sachs Dampers and rear leaf springs. MkII Mexicos' were fitted with either 5.5 x 13-inch steel wheels or alloy four spoke 6J x 13-inch. Standard OE fit tyres were Pirelli CN36s. The car's performance was excellent and, together with great handling, made the Escort the car to beat in the World Rally Championship and the flat front Escort the most recognisable rally car of the era.Offered here is an authentically restored MkII Mexico in Ford's traditional motorsport colour of Diamond White with a black interior (the only option) still sporting its Birmingham registration and probably supplied by Bristol Street Motors, the RS Dealer during that period. When the car was discovered, it was in very good original condition, ideal for restoration and the process began about three years ago Genuine Ford parts were used throughout the comprehensive rebuild of the shell. The original matching numbers 1600 cc Pinto was rebuilt making use of the well-established skills of the Coventry Boring and Metalling company, and the interior was again entrusted to marque-specialists, Aldridge Trim.Very much in the spirit of its predecessor, the second-generation Mexico proved popular on the road and amongst club rally drivers, however with so few produced, they are now becoming scarce. This well-restored example is a must for an enthusiast or collector alike, Click here for more information

1979 Maserati Merak 2000GT

Lot #317 (Sale Order 17 of 67)

1970's Supercar with razor-sharp styling, mid-mounted engine and pop-up headlampsDelivered new to Modena, Italy, two private owners from the same family and just 79,390 kmOriginal, unrestored and extremely well preserved, offered with Bill of Sale and Maserati handbooksOne of just 213 2000GTs produced mainly for the Italian market, one of the most striking car designs of the 70'sDescribed as running and driving very well, a rare Italian GT that should feature in every classic car collection By the beginning of the Seventies, every 'supercar' manufacturer needed a mid-engine design, and Maserati was no exception, so they employed the services of 'Designer of the Decade', Giorgetto Giugiaro. His creative pen was put to good use and the resultant Bora, and subsequent Merak were launched to much international acclaim. By 1975 Maserati had shrugged off the restraints of ownership by Citroën and was revitalised with De Tomaso as a partner. In November 1977 at the Turin Auto Show, Maserati launched the Merak 2000 GT, basically a Merak with a smaller two-litre powerplant. It was built almost exclusively for the Italian market, where a newly introduced law strongly penalised cars with an engine capacity over 2000 cc. Maserati's competitors already offered similar two-litre models, specifically the Urraco P200 and Dino 208 GT4. The Merak 2000 GT featured a 1,999 cc engine generating 168 hp at 7000 rpm, obtained by de-stroking and de-boring the V6.First registered in Modena, Italy on 31st January 1979, this example would remain in the same town as the manufacturing plant and in the same family for 38 years. Purchased new by the father then passed on to his son, this example has been clearly cherished and mainly dry stored away from the elements in the family garage. Our vendor describes the car as very original and overall corrosion free. This example retains its original windscreen and the body shows no sign of collision damage. Open the door to the cabin area and the Blue velour sports seats appear to be in excellent order as is the dash and instrumentation. The car is said to start and run very well, however, will require some new tyres if it is to be used frequently. The Merak is to be sold with original Italian documents, Handbooks and maintenance manuals, and a NOVA Certificate is currently being applied for and will accompany the car prior to UK registration. This is an opportunity to own a rare 2-litre version of a late 70's supercar, with a mid-mounted engine and pop-up headlamps that is fondly remembered for decent performance and excellent handling. An example that has yet to be 'got at' and as a result offers the option to enjoy 'as is', or maybe restore to 'Concours' standards. Click here for more information

This rally started in London on 19th April 1970 and finished some 16,000 miles later in Mexico. Originally Ford intended to use Escorts with the Twin Cam or BDA engine, but after reconnaissance work, it was decided that high speeds and high power were less important than reliability and ease of servicing, and therefore the 1598cc 'Kent' pushrod engine was used in the Escort shell. This engine is one of the strongest Ford ever made. It seems likely that Ford already had plans to produce a high-performance Escort to fit in the range between the 1300GT and the Twin Cam/RS1600, and their victory in Mexico provided an ideal platform to launch such a model. The engineers at the newly formed AVO (Advanced Vehicles Operations) quickly developed the 'Mexico', marrying the stronger Type 49 body-shell (as used in the more expensive Twin Cam and RS1600), which aided the car's sporty, rear-wheel-drive character, with the reliable and responsive Kent 'crossflow' engine and 2000E gearbox. So, effectively, the Mexico was basically a re-engined Twin Cam/RS1600 and the model was built from 1970 to 1974 at the AVO plant. Over the years there were some tiny detail changes and the 'Mexico' badge is only found on the wings of cars with pin-stripes, or no stripes at all, whereas on the cars with stripes all the way down the sides and across the roof, a '1600GT' badge is displayed on the front wings. All cars have the Mexico badge on the boot lid. The battery was located in the boot until September 1972, then moved to the engine compartment. The Mexico was the most successful and numerous of the 'Rally Sport Escorts,' and was an instant sales hit, with buyers loving its wide-wheeled stance, bold graphics, and rally-inspired DNA. 10,352 examples were built according to the figures from Ford, although in reality, the real figure is likely lower. It had a number of advantages on the road, in that it had decent performance, was easy to maintain, relatively easy to insure, and above all, it was great fun to drive, something which is still true today. There is a real sense of occasion as you settle down behind the wheel, and a sharp throttle response, precise controls, and raspy engine note only add to the drama. The Ford Escort Mexico presented here was first registered on the 23rd February 1973. The car is a real survivor, retaining its original shell, and was still being used regularly up until 2014. When our Ford-fanatic vendor acquired the car he decided that it was the ideal candidate for a complete restoration. The work was entrusted to Tony Collins of 'Classic Car Restorations' in Kent and, after many hours of specialist work, the car was transformed into one of the best Mk1 Escorts we have ever offered. The bodywork and mechanicals have been given the best possible treatment, whilst the interior has also benefitted from expert attention from 'Kent Car Upholstery'. The engine was fully re-built and tuned by specialists 'Bailey & Liddle' of Faversham (including an A2 cam, steel rocker posts, an HD oil pump, unleaded valves etc.). The restoration was lengthy and exacting and was completed only recently. The car is now simply superb, having not been used since the work was finished, and looks fabulous in its original colour of Daytona Yellow, a very fetching hue for a Mk1. A lack of storage space and not enough time to enjoy this great car have dictated that our vendor - who has owned numerous classic Fast Fords over the years - has decided to sell it, hoping a similar devotee will get to drive and show it properly, which it richly deserves. Nobody can have failed to notice the swell of interest in Classic Fords, particularly the quick ones, and it doesn't look like abating any time soon. This Mexico must surely be one of the best examples available, it's absolutely ready to go and would be an asset to any enthusiast of these era-defining, characterful, sporting Fords. 1977 Aston Martin V8 Series 3 S 1977 Aston Martin V8 Series 3 S

1977 Aston Martin V8 Series 3 S

Lot #319 (Sale Order 19 of 67)

UK-supplied on the 1st November 1977 with factory 'S' specification engineTremec 6-speed manual gearbox fitted during the extensive mechanical overhaulInvoices from Chris Shenton Engineering and CMC totalling some £70,000 from 2013 to 2015Recent service at 108,128 miles and a refreshed interior by Oselli at a cost of £5,500 in OctoberSuperb history file showing service records from 1979, old MoTs and the substantial invoicesKnown ownership from new, with maintenance bills recorded for each owner Introduced in 1973, the 'Series 3' employed a quartet of Weber 42 DCNF carburettors instead of the previous Bosch mechanical fuel injection, the change bringing with it increased torque and necessitating a larger bonnet bulge. Although not quoted, the power output of the standard car was around 300bhp and even in automatic transmission form, the V8 could reach 100mph in around 15 seconds and better 145mph flat-out. Summarising its 1973 road test of a V8 automatic, Autocar magazine revealed that the new version of the V8 Aston engine with four Weber carburettors and automatic transmission had proved nearly as quick as its manual-transmission fuel-injected predecessor and fractionally more economical, concluding that it was: "A well-equipped car with magnificent stride for long journeys."Later Series 3 cars were fitted with 'S' specification engines, as was this car when it was first registered to a Robin Hamilton on the 1st November 1977, keeping it for under a year before selling it to John Ward. Mr Ward was to keep the car until 1993 with regular servicing and maintenance by Aston specialists Four Ashes Garage of Stratford-upon-Avon. On the 1st May 1995, the car was purchased by a Mr Cavanagh and three years later Adam Van Straten, a leading London lawyer took over ownership until 2005 whereupon a Mr Adam Blaker bought it, servicing it at cost of £2,163 at Newlands Motors in 2007. A year later a Mr Riyad Hehio bought the car maintaining it a cost of some £9,617 in the two years he owned it. The car then caught the attention of Lord Burnett, who purchased it for £25,500 on the 8th August 2010. Lord Burnett sold the car in 2011 to a Simon Instance who serviced the car at Simon Furlonger on the 2nd August 2011 at a cost of £944.On the 11th June 2013, when it was purchased by Peter Ainsley that the car got the restoration and mechanical overhaul that it was, no doubt, due. Some work was undertaken by Chris Shenton but the majority was by Classic Motor Cars, otherwise known as Aston specialists CMC of Wolverhampton. The total cost of these works carried out between 2013 and 2015 was to amount to over £70,000. This included structural works to the sills, jacking points and outriggers, an engine rebuild, fitting of a Tremec 6-speed gearbox, and a bare metal respray. Our vendor took the car as part exchange against his own V8 Volante in September this year and has spent some £5,500 at marque specialists Oselli on new carpets, an engine tune, and a service.Presented to auction with an incredibly detailed leather-bound history file that includes twenty-one past MoT Certificates, old tax discs, previous ownership details, reams and reams of past invoices, and the largely immaterial mileage of some 108,000 miles. 1987 Ford Fiesta XR2 - 19,000 miles 1987 Ford Fiesta XR2 - 19,000 miles

1987 Ford Fiesta XR2 - 19,000 miles

Lot #320 (Sale Order 20 of 67)

Powered by Ford's punchy 96bhp 1.6-litre CVH engine - in a car weighing just 839kgs!Distinctive full body-kit, rally-style spotlights, improved suspension, ventilated front discs, uprated exhaust, and classic 'pepper pot' alloysA fully verifiable 19,000 miles, backed-up by previous MoT Certificates, a stamped service booklet, and a thorough history fileAll original panels, glass, alloys and interior; never welded as Waxolyed from new; recent recommissioning work and a cam-belt service Coming from the collection of one of the UK's most knowledgeable Ford enthusiastsFord has always had a certain panache when it comes to building everyday heroes for the humble petrol-head. The Escort, Capri, Sierra, and Fiesta were all at some point in their lifespan transformed from mundane runabouts into blue-collar road rockets capable of the sort of performance normally reserved for more expensive machinery. In the late 1980s, the Mkll Fiesta XR2 sold for about £8,500, which is around £20,000 in today's money. Ford invested buyers' hard-earned cash on goodies such as a full body-kit (with rally car style spotlights at the front), a 5-speed gearbox, improved suspension, ventilated front disc brakes, an uprated exhaust, a larger 40-litre fuel tank, the now iconic 'pepper pot' alloy-wheels and, of course, more power. The Mkl XR2 was lumbered with an 84bhp 1.6-litre engine, yet the Mkll benefited from a punchier 96bhp 1.6-litre CVH unit borrowed from the Escort XR3. 96bhp in a car weighing just 839kg was not to be sniffed at – especially in the 1980s. Accelerating from 0-60mph takes about 10 seconds, whilst the top speed is 110 mph, which may be modest by today's standards, but with enough power, low weight, minimal sound insulation and a low-to-the-ground feel, the Mkll XR2 feels as sporty as it looks. The car presented here is a 1987 Ford Fiesta (Mkll) XR2 which has covered a wholly verifiable 19,000 miles from new. This mileage is supported by accompanying MoT Certificates, an original service book (with early Ford stamps) and a thorough history file. All original manuals, supplying-dealer number-plates and a rear window sticker are all still present and correct. In striking Diamond White, this example is a real survivor in term of condition and originality. Being a 1987 model, it benefits from the later lean-burn CVH engine, featuring a revised cylinder head and carburettor, without any loss of power. The car is offered from a small private collection belonging to a prominent UK Ford collector and aficionado. He informs us that all the panels, glass, alloys and interior components are original. The car still has its original Ford exhaust fitted, whilst the original Pirelli P6 tyres have just been replaced (due to age and some cracking) but the spare alloy wheel retains its original tyre. Likewise, the interior is in simply remarkable condition and the carpet has benefited from always having genuine Ford waffle over-mats fitted, so is in exceptional condition. Our vendor understands the car never to have been welded, as it benefited from being Waxolyed from new and likewise, the engine bay is very original and in great condition, being wholly commensurate with the mileage. The vendor has just completed some re-commissioning work (including some new suspension components and a brake overhaul) due to the car covering so few miles over the last 10 years, plus a recent service with cam-belt change. The Mkll XR2 is fast becoming a very rare model, with this special little car being certainly one of the best out there. It is described, by someone who really knows, as being very close to Concours condition. If 'showing' a Fast Ford at a club or motoring event is your desire, then there isn't a better or more cost-effective way than with this car. Get the trophy cabinet ready! 1993 Ford Escort RS Cosworth (Big Turbo) 1993 Ford Escort RS Cosworth (Big Turbo)

1993 Ford Escort RS Cosworth (Big Turbo)

Lot #321 (Sale Order 21 of 67)

A much-admired example from a private Ford collectionAmazing originality and conditionFord Club Concours Gold Cup winnerJust 28,000 milesThe Ford Escort RS Cosworth proved that it was possible to follow its legendary 1980's Sierra namesake. Just like the Lancia Integrale and Subaru Impreza, this was a Group-A 'rally car for the road' - pure and simple. It was actually underpinned by a shortened version of the Sierra Cosworth RS Cosworth's platform and powered by the same 2.0-litre turbocharged longitudinally mounted Cosworth-developed engine driving all four wheels. The car was designed and engineered in Boreham, being styled by noted designer Stephen Harper, and ended up being assembled by Karmann in Germany. The potential of the Escort was seen in its first event, the 1993 Monte Carlo Rally, where Delecour and Biasion came 2nd and 3rd respectively. The Escort continued to be very competitive throughout the '93 and '94 season but it was a 'one-off' guest drive by Tommi Makinen that provided the win on the 1994 '1000 Lakes' Rally. Importantly, and true to Ford's grassroots philosophy, the Escort Cosworth provided a platform for National Rallying and Club enthusiasts throughout the world to enjoy 'off-the-shelf' competitive support. The car presented here is a 1993 Ford Escort Cosworth and is a 'big-turbo' model, thus one of the first 2,500 homologation cars ('homologation specials'), which are considered to be more desirable by the Fast Ford purists. If you know your Fast Fords, then this car needs no introduction! It was the 'cover-car' on the 'Essential Buyer Guide RS Cosworth Sierra & Escort', whilst also featuring in Dan Williamson's 'Factory Original Ford RS Cosworths' and in many other Ford magazines, it being a multiple Gold Cup and 'RS Owners' Concours winner. In 2008 it was purchased by Mark Barber, a very well-known Concours expert and judge on the show scene. The car has only been used for Concours events since, travelling just a few miles on the road. With its leather trim and striking red paintwork, it is a simply stunning example. Being such a 'star', it now travels mainly in a closed transporter to and from shows. Its maintenance has still been kept up-to-date though, even though very few miles have been covered. The car is immaculate in every aspect, right down to the period-correct Pirelli tyres and genuine one-piece exhaust system. Deservedly, it has amassed over 150 trophies in a 10-year period. This surely must be one of the best Escort Cosworths out there – if not the best. It really needs to be seen to be fully appreciated; cars like this rarely come to the open market. If you want the best, this is it. Don't miss it! Click here for more information

1934 3.5-litre Derby Bentley 'Bologna' 1934 3.5-litre Derby Bentley 'Bologna'

1934 3.5-litre Derby Bentley 'Bologna'

Lot #322 (Sale Order 22 of 67)

A personal project by the respected coachbuilder Ian Pitney of Pitney RestorationsConceived as an homage to the metalworking skills of the Carrozzeria in Modena and BolognaBased on a 1934 3.5-litre Bentley with a sound chassis and excellent mechanicsHandcrafted details and period features abound. Classic styling cues from the twenties and thirtiesBrand new tailored hood and weather equipmentSuperbly crafted, beautifully finished, and real presence. A work of art. It's a sobering thought. Had Rolls-Royce not purchased its financially troubled competitor Bentley in 1931, the world would have been denied the Continental, Turbo R, Mulsanne and countless other legendary models subsequently graced with the 'Flying B'. Of particular loss to many, would have been the coachbuilt Derby Bentleys manufactured between 1933 and 1939. The chassis was derived from an experimental supercharged 2.75-litre Rolls-Royce (codenamed Peregrine) that never saw the light of day, and power came from a redesigned and tuned version of the company's 20/25 engine, initially of 3.5-litres (3669cc). Fed by a pair of SU carburettors, it drove through a four-speed manual gearbox, the suspension was by semi-elliptic springs all-round, and retardation by servo-assisted drums. The newcomer was introduced to the public in the appropriate surroundings of Ascot during August 1933, and production of these 3.5-litre cars continued into 1937; by which time 1,191 examples had been produced. The last year's allocation was manufactured alongside the incoming 4.25-litre (4257cc) version that would ultimately supersede the 3.5-litre cars. The Derby Bentley was, of course, an exclusively coachbuilt automobile with body styles being the preserve of the customer, and a number of illustrious firms including Park Ward, Barker, Vanden Plas, Thrupp & Maberly, Gurney Nutting, H.J. Mulliner, Hooper, James Young and Arthur Mulliner were keen to clothe these fine cars. In the event, nearly fifty per cent were finished as stylish saloons by Park Ward and these were frequently dubbed 'The Silent Sports Car', a slogan which was used by Rolls-Royce in their advertising for many years to come. However, the remainder were coachbuilt in any number of shapes and sizes, mostly with sporting aspirations almost certainly influenced by the 'Bentley Boys'.Beloved of the press and contemporary newsreels, the Bentley Boys were a group of British motoring enthusiasts that included Woolf Barnato, Sir Henry "Tim" Birkin, steeplechaser George Duller, aviator Glen Kidston, automotive journalist S.C.H. "Sammy" Davis, and Dr Dudley Benjafield. Many were independently wealthy and often had a military background and their colourful lifestyles and motor racing exploits kept them in the news for many years during the late Twenties and early Thirties. The one thing they had in common was a passion for big, open-top Bentleys, keeping the marque's reputation for high performance alive. The one-off, 1934, 3.5-litre Derby Bentley "Bologna" on offer here was built with that era in mind and was created by Father and Son professional coachbuilders, Pitney Restorations. Started by Ian Pitney's father in 1973 and followed by Ian in 2002, Pitney Restorations have been creating one-off aluminium panels for pre and post-war motor cars using time-honoured techniques, traditional tools and skilfull craftsmen for many years. The perfect curves and swooping lines seen on the world's most expensive cars start life in workshops such as these.Forming, and lovingly shaping, 'swoopy' aluminium panels for all of the top pre-war European marques, Ian was confident in his own abilities, but had, for quite a while, been thinking about building something for himself, a very special one-off that, as well as scratching his creative itch, would serve as a 'shop window' for the team's metal working and fabrication skills. It would have to be big and dramatic, superbly crafted, beautifully finished, and with sufficient 'presence' to impress the 'Bentley Boys' should they still have been around. A Derby Bentley chassis would be an ideal starting point and the body would have a long bonnet, two seats and a bit of a Brooklands racer feel. Ian was an enthusiast for the work of the dozens of small Carrozzeria in the Modena / Bologna area during the thirties so there would be lots of styling cues from there with a bit of Alfa Romeo, Delage and Figoni et Falaschi thrown in. How exciting.Fortunately, a 1934 3.5-litre Bentley with a sound chassis and excellent mechanics but an uninspiring saloon body became available and was to become the starting point for the project. Once the body had been removed, the chassis prepared and sealed, and the engine ancillaries (carburettors etc) cleaned, it was time to commence the creative process. The Click here for more information

1983 Talbot Sunbeam Lotus Sll - 7,998 miles 1983 Talbot Sunbeam Lotus Sll - 7,998 miles

1983 Talbot Sunbeam Lotus Sll - 7,998 miles

Lot #323 (Sale Order 23 of 67)

Bought by our vendor in 1988 with just over 7,000 miles; lovingly owned and stored Fully verifiable 7,998 miles; serviced regularly by a specialist (including belts); last serviced August '18One of its only journeys was to the Lotus Factory - where it won 1st prize in a Club Team Lotus Concours event!A remarkable survivor and a car for the true collector - it will not disappoint. The Talbot Sunbeam-Lotus was one of the most exciting hot-hatches to emerge from the 1970s. Chrysler commissioned Lotus to produce an effective entrant for international Group 4 rallying - to beat the dominant Ford Escort RSs at their own game. Lotus took a 1.6 GLS shell and installed a 2.2-litre ('Type 911' and closely related to the Type 912 found in the S2 and S3 Esprits) version of their 16-valve four-cylinder engine and a 5-speed ZF gearbox. The new Sunbeam-Lotus certainly looked the part - initially offered only in Black and Silver, with Marchal spotlights and tailored 'double four-spoke' cast-alloy wheels. Launched in 1979, the high-compression 2174cc twin-cam engine breathed through two twin-choke Dell'Orto carburettors, developed 150bhp (but was easily tuneable to well over 200bhp for rally use), and delivered excellent performance, being rear-wheel drive and weighing only 960kgs, giving a 0-60mph time of just 6.6 seconds. Lotus wasn't just an engine supplier, it was also involved in designing the suspension and exhaust system. As soon as it qualified for inclusion in international rally competition, the Sunbeam-Lotus proved extremely effective, finishing 1st, 3rd and 4th at the 1980 Lombard-RAC rally, Britain's round of the World Rally Championship. In 1981, the Sunbeam Lotus brought the entire manufacturer's championship to Talbot. For the Series 2 cars in 1981, a big 'T' was placed in the middle of the grille, the engine was mildly tweaked, the fuel tank and headlights were enlarged, and the wing mirrors were changed. By 1982, Moonstone Blue was the only available colour. Only 1,184 right-hand-drive examples of the Sunbeam-Lotus were ever built approximately half the total number. However, today you'd be lucky to find 80 of these special cars according to the owners' club. The car presented here is a 1983 Talbot Sunbeam-Lotus (Series 2) and is a very special example indeed, being in remarkably original and unused condition, with just 7,998 (fully verifiable) miles covered. It is offered from a true enthusiast and has survived in an 'as new' time-wrap state. It was bought by our vendor in 1988, just 5 years after leaving the showroom, with just over 7,000 miles. This particular car wears an evocative 'DAC' registration number which is synonymous with the final few examples produced. These were to be sold by ASOC Honorary Member Leon Gibbs at his Arbury dealership and were registered from DAC 2Y to DAC 150Y.The car was delivered to its original owner, a Mr Baird, on the 1st February 1983 and was regularly serviced three times at dealership 'C. & R. Bird' of Herefordshire from 1984 to 1988 (at 5,000 miles). During this time, it was sold to a Mr Peart, who's wife disliked driving the car, so after just four months of ownership, it was sold to our vendor on the 14th August 1988. He wanted the best example he could buy and intended to keep it that way. Hence, he assured the car was professionally stored, driven rarely, and has never seen any rain. He had the car serviced on the 16th May 1989 at 7,328 miles by Lotus specialists 'DayTune' of Cambridge, then again on the 24th May 1999 at 7,944 miles by Gerald Turner of 'GST Performance' and then again by 'GST Performance' at 7,995 miles on the 20th August 2018 (costing £1,800). On each occasion, our vendor insisted on a cam-belt replacement. He has only ever really used the car twice, firstly to go to Castle Combe for a Lotus Club meeting and secondly, in 1989, to attend a Club Team Lotus Concours Show at the Lotus Factory at Hethel, where Hazel Chapman presented our vendor with a glass decanter for the car winning 1st in class – the Concours label still adorns its windscreen. The car is as special as you'd expect, being in the sort of condition which is wholly commensurate with the mileage and history. Unsurprisingly, this truly exceptional car comes with its original and complete book-pack and a comprehensive history file, including numerous invoices for servicing, which support the mileage. This is perhaps a unique opportunity to acquire the best Talbot Sunbeam Lotus you will ever find. Click here for more information

1989 BMW E30 M3 Johnny Cecotto Ltd Edition

Lot #324 (Sale Order 24 of 67)

Property of pop legend and Jamiroquai frontman - Jay KayOwned by him for a decade and very well maintained. Less than 18,000 miles from newA 'Johnny Cecotto' Limited Edition, with 215bhp, factory Evo II spoilers and thinner glass etcAll finished in the same shade of Nogaro Silver, black centred wheels, unique trim, and with appropriate badging Extremely rare with just 505 versions ever built worldwide so highly collectable and sought after The BMW M3 was introduced in 1986 as an "Homologation Special" to allow BMW to compete Internationally in Touring Car races and International rallies around the globe. It was designed on the drawing board exclusively with competition in mind and was the first BMW built with the sole aim of winning races. Its global success made BMW a highly credible entrant in races throughout the world and undoubtedly directly contributed to BMW becoming a global brand, recognised for engineering excellence and driver-focused cars.Only ever available in left-hand drive form, the E30 M3 was refined during its 7-year production life with numerous variants allowing more and more specific components to be homologated and subsequently able to appear on their race and rally cars. One of these variants was a strictly limited edition M3 known as the "Johnny Cecotto", launched in 1989, which celebrated his (and the BMW M3's) victory in the 1988 European Touring Car Championship.Externally all were finished in the same darker version of Nogaro Silver with larger black centred wheels and a unique trim with appropriate badging on the dashboard. In addition to their bespoke colour and trim, various other performance parts were added and the engine upgraded to 215 BHP. Just 505 versions were ever built worldwide. This, therefore, is a particularly rare example of a Johnny Cecotto edition and has covered just under 18,000 miles from new in total, with a full and comprehensive service and MoT history. Bought by Jay Kay around ten years ago, the car has been one of his 'pride and joy', long-term members of his private collection, having occasional use, but always stored in a temperature controlled professional environment.Imported in 1995 to the UK with just 7,000 km on the clock by Munich Legends, the speedo was professionally changed for a UK MPH clock which now shows just over 13,000 miles and naturally this change was fully documented. All prior MoTs are present in a comprehensive history file which includes details of the car's most recent major service and further attention in September 2017. This is a very rare and special car, in outstanding condition, and with exceptional provenance, that is ready to drive and enjoy today with an MoT until August 2019 and all its manuals and service history present. 1989 Mercedes-Benz 300SL (R107)

Lot #325 (Sale Order 25 of 67)

Approaching its 30th-birthday this smart 300SL still turns headsDelightfully finished in Thistle Green Metallic with a matching interior and factory hardtopThe 3-litre, six-cylinder car was the lightest and most nimble of the range in periodMain-dealer maintained for the first 20 years with specialist attention subsequentlyGood service history with regular servicing, the most recent being in May 2018.With detailed history, celebrity provenance, and only 54,000 miles, this may well be a very sensible investment The Mercedes-Benz SL range from the 1980s was known as the R107 Series and was undoubtedly the ultimate, California-sunshine, top-down symbol of the era. Various engine options were offered but the most desirable was always the smaller 280, 6-cylinder version (which at the end of the decade became the 300) so inevitably it was always the rarest and most sought after. This particular late model 300SL is a UK car from new and is offered directly from rock legend and Jamiroquai frontman, Jay Kay, with only 54,000 miles recorded. He obviously loves this car (and was very reluctant to part with it) as he has owned it for over eight years and says it drives extremely well and smoothly.Supplied new by Drake and Fletcher of Maidstone in June of 1989, the car is finished in Thistle Green metallic with matching upholstery and is accompanied by a factory original hard top in excellent condition. It was main-dealer maintained for the first 20 years of its life and specialist maintained since with regular servicing, the most recent being in May 2018.Today this stylish classic Mercedes cabriolet offers excellent value for money and is a wonderful entry into classic Mercedes-Benz SL ownership with a car that has superb provenance and good maintenance history, which will help it maintain, or possibly even increase in value, over the long run.Meanwhile, it's a hoot to drive and enjoy with the top up or down! Lot #327 (Sale Order 27 of 67)

Original 'A-Code', four-speed manual fastback built to the exact specification of the car from 'Bullitt'Correctly mixed 'Highland Green Metallic' by Dupont. Blacked-out grille. 'Torque Thrust' wheels390ci 'Big-Block' professionally built. CNC-machined Edelbrock aluminium heads, new timing chainsStage-2 Crower camshaft and tappets, Edelbrock dual-plane aluminium manifold. Edelbrock 750 CFM carburettorFrom the stable of rock legend, Jay Kay of JamiroquaiMaintained with no expense spared, including another more recent major engine rebuild and further upgrades This specific car is an original A-Code, four-speed manual fastback Mustang that has been built to the exact specification of Steve McQueen's Mustang from the legendary film 'Bullitt'. It was built at Ford's Metuchen factory in New Jersey in 1967 and has recently been the subject of a full bare metal restoration in 2008 in the USA. This entailed the removal and replacement of any damaged or rusty body panels, new chrome and bright work, new deluxe interior, new carpet and seat covers and a rare overhead console with integrated map lights. As per the original 'Bullitt' Mustang, the bodywork was finished in the correct Highland Green Metallic paint supplied by Dupont and a blacked-out grille with tail light details were fitted. American Torque Thrust wheels, 7-inch fronts and 8 and a half inch rears, with white lettered BF Goodrich tyres complete the true 'Bullitt' look. The car has now been fully rebuilt into an extremely powerful machine. The original 289 V8 was discarded in favour of the correct 390 big block. At the time of restoration, the engine was rebored, the crankshaft reground, new pistons and bearings fitted, and all reciprocating parts fully balanced. The rebuild included the fitting of full CNC-machined Edelbrock aluminium heads, new timing chains, new Stage-2 Crower camshaft and tappets, Edelbrock dual-plane aluminium manifold and an Edelbrock 750 CFM carburettor. In addition, an electronic billet distributor and ignition box were also fitted. In order to handle such power, an 11-inch performance clutch assembly with fully rebuilt four-speed, top-loader gearbox and an overhauled 9in rear axle were fitted. Stopping performance has also been uprated in the form of a front and rear disc brake package by Wilwood.Following the completion of the restoration in 2008, the car was imported to the UK by a renowned collector in December of that year. Purchased from us by rock legend, and Jamiroquai frontman, Jay Kay, the car has been maintained with no expense spared, including another more recent major engine rebuild and further upgrades, details of which are all available in the comprehensive history file confirming over £7,000 spent in July 2017, since which time the car has covered just a few hundred miles. It sounds, looks and drives absolutely superbly now and is ready to be enjoyed without the need for any short-term spend. The eagle-eyed amongst you will spot that this car was also offered and sold in 2012 by Silverstone Auctions. The large history file, recently added to, details import paperwork confirming EU taxes are paid, an original Certificate of Title from the state of Pennsylvania and the car also comes with a fresh MoT. This outstanding Mustang sounds absolutely incredible and offers its new owner an iconic muscle-car motoring experience at a fraction of the build cost. - this is a unique opportunity to have your own "Bullitt" car, which is particularly topical as the original Mustang from the film has recently been found and valued at a million dollars. Making this one look extremely good value! Click here for more information

1996 Volvo 850R Sport-Wagon

Lot #328 (Sale Order 28 of 67)

Five-door 'Sport Wagon' featuring a 250bhp, 2.3-litre turbocharged, 5-cylinder engine, and a 5-speed manual gearboxSupplied new to Japan in right-hand drive form (as it is today) and arrived here in the UK in 2017Superbly finished in Dark Olive Pearl, Charcoal Leather and Amaretta (suede) interiorMassive spec including traction control, sports suspension, ABS, Volvo Guard alarm, and 17inch Volan wheels Recent new CV boots, ABS sensors, cambelt, power steering rack, battery, and a full serviceClassic 'Q'car, subtle and understated but goes and handles like a 'Touring Car' In 1996, Volvo introduced a new high-performance Volvo 850 as a replacement for the hugely successful limited edition T-5R. Earlier, the company had decided that they would not produce a direct successor to the T-5R, but this was the era when Rickard Rydell, driving for Tom Walkinshaw Racing, was winning in the British Touring Car Championship and Volvos image suddenly became that of a serious performance car manufacturer and with the T-5's surprising sales success, they changed their minds and decided to develop a new high-performance model. The new car was based on the T-5R but with a number of improvements and was christened the 850 R. It was offered as either a saloon or in five-door 'Sport Wagon' form and featuring a 250bhp, 2.3-litre, 5-cylinder engine, 5-speed manual gearbox and a limited slip differential as standard, the turbocharged estate car could accelerate from 0-62 mph in 6.5 seconds and reach up to 158 mph. This particular 850R Sport-Wagon was supplied new to Japan in right-hand drive form (as it is today) and arrived here in the UK in 2017. The car had recorded 53,000 km at that point and has now covered a further 14,000 km taking the total mileage to 67,000 km, or 41,000 miles.Superbly finished in Dark Olive Pearl, this well specified car is fitted with traction control, sports suspension with self-levelling rear shock absorbers, ABS, Cruise control, a Volvo Guard alarm with remote, front fog lights, electronic climate control, leather and Amaretta (suede) electric seats and steering wheel - both heated, a sunroof, 4 air-bags, and 17inch Volan wheels.Bought by rock legend and Jamiroquai frontman, Jay Kay, as part of his private collection, the Volvo benefited from some attention in March of this year. It was fitted with new CV boots, ABS sensors, cambelt, power steering rack, a new battery, and was fully serviced. Since then it has covered just a few hundred miles and is offered, ready to use, with a fresh MoT.The 850R Sport Wagon is probably the ultimate 'Q' car appearing to be a sensible practical estate car in a discreet shade of green metallic whilst being able to demolish 0-60 in just over six seconds and handle like a 'Touring Car'. The fact that it's also a rare and highly collectable classic just makes it all the more appealing. Click here for more information

1996 BMW 850 CSi Manual

Lot #329 (Sale Order 29 of 67)

Classically proportioned, understated, and timeless styling. BMW's flagship in the mid-90sOnly two owners from new (including Jay Kay) and a warranted 12,777 milesSuperbly finished in Cosmos Black over Black Leather. Well spec'd from new (Cost £72,486)Alpina alloys, a graduated tinted windscreen, front seat heating, and a tracker systemThis is a rare car (BMW GB only supplied 138) with fantastic provenance. What an opportunity The BMW 850CSI was the factory's flagship model in the mid-1990s and featured the silky smoothy S70 V12 engine mated to a Getrag 6-speed manual transmission and was one of the first cars ever to offer drive-by-wire throttle control. Developed from the M70, the S70 increased the bore and stroke and utilised more aggressive valve timings, resulting in an increase in maximum power to an impressive 380 hp at 5,300 RPM and torque to 402 lb/ft at 4,000 RPM. With the hydraulic control unit mounted on the differential, the 850 uses hydraulic rear steering linked to 'Servotronic' front steering to give precise, high-speed stability and harness the S70's significant power output for a great driving experience. Although considered avant-garde when it first arrived, the pillarless coupe was blessed with classically proportioned, understated, and essentially timeless styling that has not dated, and these beautiful and exclusive Gran Turismos still look modern today. This particular 850CSi was supplied new by Alan Kerr in Warwick in September 1996 and had been ordered in Cosmos Black with black leather upholstery, a graduated tinted windscreen, Auto-dim interior mirror, front seat heating, and a tracker system. Costing £72,486 (original invoice in the owner's file), it was bought by a private Bristol-based client who kept the car until August 2017 covering no more than 12,000 miles from new. He had Alpina wheels and tyres fitted later in his ownership as the only non-original, but highly desirable, upgrade to the factory specification.Discovered by rock legend and Jamiroquai frontman, Jay Kay, (an avid BMW collector), it was purchased and added to his private collection as only the second owner of the car from new. Recently fitted with a new battery and having been professionally stored and maintained during his ownership, the car is now offered for sale publically for the first time since it was new. The indicated mileage is currently just 12,777 in the hands of its two owners and the car remains in excellent condition. The 850CSi is now a rare car (BMW GB only supplied 138) and this is a wonderful opportunity for a collector to acquire a true modern classic that has impeccable provenance and still offers the convenience and safety of relatively modern technology. We have sold a similar car with higher mileage for over £100k in the recent past, making the guide price of this particular car very realistic in today's market. A true opportunity. Click here for more information

Having lived a cossetted life in Belgravia it is on the open market for the first time. The ultimate 'wolf in sheep's clothing' of the 1990s, the 500E saloon was built to rival the BMW M5 and was created in close cooperation with Porsche. With its engineering department fully occupied with the development of the new S-Class, Mercedes-Benz commissioned Porsche in 1989 to redesign the W124 chassis to enable the 5.0L V8 from the SL to be shoehorned in, along with the necessary changes to the suspension system and drivetrain. The new stealth saloon offered no visible clues on the outside except for very slightly flared wheel arches, wider tyres and discreet side skirts. 60mph arrived in just 5 seconds and 100mph in just over 14 seconds, remarkable for a car with such 'stately' presence. It was only available as a hand-built, four-door saloon in left-hand drive and the low production numbers rendered it an instant classic. It is believed only twenty-nine orders were placed by British buyers for the 500E, and this example was supplied by Bradshaw & Webb, now Mercedes-Benz Chelsea, to a member of the Vardinogiannis shipping family on the 28th March 1991. 1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS 1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS

1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS

Lot #334 (Sale Order 34 of 67)

One of only 235 UK right-hand drive 246 GTS Dinos Recent glass-out respray in its original colour of Argento Auteuil Documented and photographed engine rebuild by Foskers in 2008 (£12,842) Supplied with a comprehensive history file, UK V5c and MoT'd until 18th July 2019 The Ferrari Dino was built to honour Alfredo 'Dino' Ferrari who died of muscular dystrophy in 1956. He was the only legitimate son of 'Il Commendatore', and unlike any previous road-going Ferrari, the Dino utilised a V6 engine (Tipo 156) which Alfredo himself had developed and advocated during his lifetime.Enzo Ferrari vehemently answered his critics when he said: "For reasons of mechanical efficiency he finally came to the conclusion that the engine should be a V6 and we accept his decision." The acceptance of this decision resulted in a legacy of motorsport orientated derivatives from Formula One through to various famous sports car racing applications. Following this continued success on the track and in order to homologate Ferrari's 1966 Formula Two campaign, a new line of mid-engined production V6 coupes with Fiat running gear went on sale in 1967 in two-litre form. However, in 1969 a larger 2.4 litre Dino was introduced, named the 246 GT or GTS in the case of the Spider. The voluptuous bodywork, which many people regard as the prettiest ever to grace a road-going Ferrari, was designed by Pininfarina and built by Scaglietti. It covered a tubular chassis which carried wishbone independent suspension at each corner. The compact four-cam engine, which delivered 190bhp, was mounted transversely above the five-speed gearbox and just ahead of the rear axle, allowing for both a comfortable cockpit and some usable boot space. Proving a great sales success, production of the Dino 246 finished in 1974 with 2,487 GTs and 1,274 GTS models. We are incredibly pleased to offer this particular, UK-supplied, right-hand drive Ferrari 246 GTS Dino, which was delivered through S.G.M. Garages Ltd of Newcastle Upon Tyne to its first owner at Conforth Developments Ltd, Country Durham on 24th September 1973. As confirmed by a letter from Tony Willis and copies of the original order, chassis #06964 was finished in Argento Auteuil with a black interior. It was also specified with 2 door mirrors, Perspex headlight covers and an electric aerial – features it retains to this day. After two further owners, the car was purchased by John Harris, who was the sound engineer for rock band Queen. Legend has it that the Queen song 'I'm in Love with My Car' was written about him and his attachment to the Dino! After Mr Harris' ownership and in the early 1980s, the car was purchased by a Mr J. Ford who had it completely restored by Rosso Ltd, culminating in a Concours class win in 1982 at a Ferrari Owners Club, Eastington Hall Concours. By 2008, chassis #06964 was owned by a Mr N. Freeman of Gloucestershire who decided the Ferrari could do with a bit of attention and an engine rebuild was top of the list. This was carried out in May 2008 by leading Ferrari specialists, Foskers, who completely removed and dismantled the engine, cleaning, machining and replacing parts where necessary. A detailed invoice for £12,842 and a set of photographs document the work that was carried out. Later that year the suspension and braking system received a full overhaul along with some bodywork repairs generating three further invoices totalling £14,000. Most recently, this stunning 246 GTS was returned to its original colour scheme and Foskers were again chosen to complete the full glass-out respray totalling £18,338 as confirmed by an invoice in the file. A 700-mile round trip to the Le Mans Classic was completed this year in #06964 with the Ferrari performing effortlessly in the searing heat – perhaps the only over-heating was by the driver and his co-pilot! Supplied with a UK V5c, an MoT until 18th July 2019, a Driver's manual, leather wallet and a comprehensive history file, this 246 GTS Dino is now showing 60,482 miles and has to be one of the finest available today. Rarely, do well-documented cars of this quality come to market, and we are proud to offer this beautiful example which is now ready to begin the next chapter of its life. The Le Mans Classic in 2020 perhaps? Click here for more information

Driven by names such as Hopkirk, 'Whizzo' Williams and 'Smokin' John Rhodes, the Mini Cooper firmly cemented its place in motorsport folklore.XFF 780 is as close to a brand new Mini Cooper rally car as you are likely to find. Every part has either been comprehensively restored or replaced with new. The car comes ready to compete in any Historic Endurance Rally Event, such as those run by HERO or HRCR, or simply as an amazing 'café racer' road car. Had the build been carried out commercially, it would have cost in the region of £40,000 + the original MK1 Shell and outsourced paintwork. A full spreadsheet of work and associated costs can be located in the accompanying paperwork folder. This build has been completed, as you can see, to an extremely high standard by a team of trainee motorsport engineers under the supervision of the highly experienced and professional team at 'Project-shop'. All of the funds raised in this sale will be channelled directly into the next project to ensure a further group of young engineers learn how to build and manage classic sports car projects from the ground up. This excellent build includes;Drivetrain;A+ Block and gearbox, bored to 1380cc, lightened and balanced crank and flywheel, new shells, pistons, conrods, push rods and bearings, stage 4 Mini Spares cylinder head, roller rockers, fast road cam. single 45 DCOE Weber carburettor with Airflow filter, RC40 free flow centre exhaust, high capacity water pump and radiator, 13-row oil cooler, programmable 123 Ignition, competition-spec clutch, quick shift gear change.Shell;Original MK1 Morris Mini-Cooper body shell: Completely stripped, sandblasted, rust affected areas repaired/replaced including new: Battery box, A Panels, Front panel, Both front wings, Inner and outer sills both sides. It's admirable that the proceeds of this sale will be used to fund another project designed to enthuse the next generation of racing car engineers and, if they can achieve a similar standard to the team that built XFF 780, they can be justly proud of their efforts. 1987 Ferrari Testarossa 1987 Ferrari Testarossa

1987 Ferrari Testarossa

Lot #336 (Sale Order 36 of 67)

1 of only 438 RHD cars ever built for the UK market and just 17,258 miles An early 'Monodado' car featuring wheels with central locking nut In the classic combination of Rosso Corsa paintwork with Crema leather Supplied with a UK V5c and service history Cambelt service carried out in October 2017 at Ferrari Lancaster ColchesterWhen Ferrari introduced the Testarossa in Paris in 1984, it was regarded as possibly the best car they had ever built but, whilst the design was spectacular, it was not considered to be as sensually beautiful as numerous GT Ferraris of the past. As a complete departure, Pininfarina had designed a modern, aerodynamic and efficient body shape, immediately recognisable by its very distinctive side 'strakes' unlike anything else seen in the post-war period. The name 'Testarossa', literally Redhead, became synonymous with Ferrari sports racing cars in the '50s and '60s and was resurrected at the launch of this new model at the Porte de Versailles in 1984.The Testarossa was the 'poster car' of the 1980's, being perhaps the ultimate automotive status symbol to emerge from the 'greed is good' decade. The Testarossa's imposing size and in-your-face attitude tend to hide the fact that here we have a remarkably user-friendly supercar; mighty performance delivered in a smooth manner by a sweet and free-revving 4.9-litre flat-12 producing 390bhp, endowing the car with a respectable 0-60 mph time of 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 196mph. The Testarossa really does offer a rare package of serious performance, practicality, and reasonable comfort and its confidence-inspiring handling at high speed becomes almost addictive. It even has windows you can actually see out of!Although the design may have seemed to be 'of the moment', the Testarossa proved itself to be a well-built and enduring car, with the passing of time proving Pininfarina's design to be durable, timeless and much echoed in design language for numerous products over the years. The Testarossa was produced between 1984 and 1992, with some 7,177 examples in total, and was Ferrari's most successful model ever - perhaps one of the reasons why it remains comparatively good value for money - but for how long? Remember the UK received just 438 RHD examples….Offered here is a UK-supplied, right-hand drive Ferrari Testarossa 'Monodado' which was delivered through Modena and first registered on 20th May 1987. Finished in Rosso Corsa over Crema, this car has been used sparingly by its five former keepers. The service book records the following:Date Mileage DealerJune 1987 1,492 Modena FerrariDecember 1987 3,666 Modena FerrariSmall service post '87 5,672 Modena FerrariOctober 1995 9,446 Carrera SportSeptember 1998 10,850 Hargreaves RacingAugust 1999 11,312 Hargreaves RacingOctober 2001 12,500 Hargreaves RacingOctober 2004 14,504 Rosso CorsaAugust 2012 16,857 Ferrari Lancaster ColchesterJanuary 2015 16,989 Ferrari Lancaster ColchesterFebruary 2016 17,077 Ferrari Lancaster ColchesterOctober 2017 17,188 Ferrari Lancaster ColchesterThe last service in October 2017 included fresh cambelts. The car is accompanied by a UK V5c, its service book, some old MoT Certificates, its tools and jack. This Testarossa has now covered just 17,255 miles and is a great early example of one of the finest supercars from the 1980s. Click here for more information

1999 Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Volante

Lot #337 (Sale Order 37 of 67)

UK-supplied, right-hand drive, automatic V12 DB7 Vantage Volante with only 42,500 miles Finished in Pentland Green with Olive and Fawn hide and a dark green mohair hood Incredible service history with £17,500 spent in 2016 with marque specialist R.S. Williams Supplied with both keys, service book and owner's wallet, UK V5c and MoT'd until 19/7/19 At the Geneva Motor Show in 1999, Aston Martin introduced the long-awaited Vantage version of their successful DB7. Sporting a Cosworth-designed, 5.9-litre V12 producing a creamy 420bhp, the car was super-quick and was electronically limited to 185mph. The V12 had a serious appetite for air compared to its 6-cylinder predecessor, demanding a larger intake and other modifications to the frontal airflow were made to aid cooling. Other changes included chassis and braking upgrades, to cope with the increased performance and Ian Callum enlarged the grille, added fog lamps and re-styled the valances to give the car a more purposeful look. The Vantage interior leather trim was cut and sewn at a special trim shop at Newport Pagnell, where the carpet and wood veneers were also prepared. The 5.9 Litre V12 Vantage Volante, costing over £100,000 at its launch, remained in production until 2004.Offered here, is a DB7 5.9-litre V12 Vantage Volante automatic, supplied new to its first owner on the 11th September 1999 by Grange Aston Martin. This stunning example is finished in the desirable combination of Pentland Green Metallic with an Olive Fawn leather interior and a dark green mohair hood. The original service book is stamped 18 times, predominantly by the supplying dealer, but also by marque specialists. A whole host of work was completed in 2016 by leading Aston Martin authority R.S. Williams which included: four new tyres, fresh fluid and filters, new F.E.A.D belt, new front brake discs, new right-side catalytic converter and sport exhaust fitted, removing and renewing damaged fuel lines, new ABS sensor, re-fitting of passenger airbag, new ignition coil and boot assembly and so forth…. An invoice included in the file documents the £17,255 spent at the aforementioned specialist to ensure everything on this car was perfect. A new mohair hood was also fitted at this time. In September of this year, the car received its annual service at marque specialist Pugsley & Lewis, by which time it had covered 42,231 miles. During the service, Pugsley and Lewis noted that the underside of the car is incredibly clean and well above average condition, a car that has clearly been loved and used in fair weather. Supplied with a UK V5c, desirable 'V12' cherished registration, MoT until 19th July 2019, both sets of keys, and its original handbooks and service book, this incredibly well-maintained DB7 Vantage Volante is in fine order. It has covered very few miles since its service, and DB7s of this calibre rarely come to market. With the prices of its DB predecessors continuing to rise, this well-cared for DB7 surely ticks all the boxes for any serious car collector. DB4, 5, 6, and soon the DB7 Vantage. It won't be long! 1973 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Spyder Conversion 1973 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Spyder Conversion

1973 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Spyder Conversion

Lot #338 (Sale Order 38 of 67)

An original UK-supplied, right-hand drive 365 GTB/4 Daytona delivered through H.R Owen in September 1973 Finished in stunning original colours of Verde Pino with tan leather and carpets Most recently recommissioned and repainted by a leading marque specialist Supplied with a UK V5c and MoT tested until 5th April 2019 Two years after Lamborghini debuted the mid-engined Miura in 1966, Ferrari launched its defiantly traditional and determinedly contrasting alternative, the 365 GTB/4. Almost immediately the 365 GTB/4 gained its 'Daytona' moniker as a result of Ferrari's 1-2-3 result in the 1967 24-hour race at the famous Florida circuit. The Daytona's engine and handling certainly didn't undermine its racing nomenclature. The 4.4-litre, 4-cam V12 produced an astonishing 352bhp and, despite its, less than slimline, 1,633 kilos, the Daytona was billed as the fastest road car in the world at the time. Not only was 174mph more than brisk, but, crucially, it was faster than the Miura. The five-speed gearbox was mounted at the rear for a more optimal weight distribution and helped give the Daytona its predictable handling and solid road-holding.Like so many Ferraris of the period, the Daytona's beautiful bodywork was designed by Pininfarina with the car built by Scaglietti. The delicate front was cleanly cut with both pop-up and Plexiglas headlight varieties, the rear slope was suggestively rakish, and a Kamm tail provided further clues that this was a serious motor car. The wheel arch flares, although elegant in proportion, are the only real overt notion that this car has significant pace.We are incredibly pleased to offer this stunning UK-supplied, right-hand drive Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona which was delivered to UK importer Maranello Concessionaires for their dealer H.R. Owen, London and first registered on 19th September 1973. A letter from Ferrari aficionado Tony Willis and copies of the original order confirm chassis #16761 was finished in one of the most striking colour combinations of Verde Pino Metallic with a tan leather (VM3104) and tan carpets throughout. It is believed that this car was converted to Spyder configuration via Maranello Concessionaires in 1987 with additional strengthening and support as per the original cars. In the late 1990s, it received a comprehensive cosmetic restoration and was finished in Rosso Corsa with Tan leather and Nero Daytona inserts in the seats. After some years of hibernation in storage and without use, the car was treated to a comprehensive mechanical recommission and thorough detailing by leading marques specialist, D.K. Engineering. In June 2017, all fluids were refreshed, the carburettors were stripped – pump diaphragm replaced, float heights set and new gaskets fitted, the braking system was checked and bled, engine timing checked, air-conditioning system recharged, and a host of other remedial work. In the early part of 2018, the car was fully stripped and prepared ready to be repainted in its original colour, Verde Pino Metallic, before being fully reassembled. The bumpers were re-chromed and power steering also fitted, making manoeuvring in tight spaces much lighter work. A number of substantial invoices are included in the history file for all the work undertaken during this time. Sitting on a set of gleaming Borranis, this Daytona now looks absolutely sublime and is supplied with a UK V5c and MoT tested until 5th April 2019. With only 122 Ferrari 365 GTS/4 Spyders ever produced and now commanding premium prices, #16761 is seemingly great value at today's estimate. Having been driven down a busy high street and seen the reaction, the consignor can confirm you will certainly turn heads and leave people with their jaws on the floor when they see this beautiful Daytona. We are all impressed with beauty, in whatever form it takes, and when it comes to sheet metal, this is about as beautiful as you could ever hope to find. Click here for more information

1979 Aston Martin V8 Oscar India 1979 Aston Martin V8 Oscar India

1979 Aston Martin V8 Oscar India

Lot #339 (Sale Order 39 of 67)

Impeccably maintained, matching numbers, UK-supplied and showing 24,150 miles on the odometerThe history file contains the Heritage Certificate, build records, and previous ownership historyInvoices amount to some £40,000 since 2002 with recent works by Aston specialists DavronSubtle upgrades include electronic ignition, Vantage exhausts and a new air conditioning unitRestoration works include leather, wood facings, carpets, sills, suspension, brakes, valances and the jacking pointsOffered by a private vendor who has owned a variety of Aston Martins, including a DB6.One could describe the Aston Martin V8 Series 4, often titled 'Oscar India' (October Introduction in phonetics), as "the Mustang that went to Eton". The exterior, particularly the front, may have had a touch of Ford's Mustang about it but the interior was unmistakably Mayfair. The first Aston Martin in decades to combine sumptuous Connolly leather and polished Walnut facings, the interior of the Oscar India, launched in 1978, provided the driver with all of the comforts of the era and the grunt of the legendary Tadek Marek designed V8. Compared to the contemporary exotica on offer from Italy, Aston's V8 would cruise unassumingly, with only the burble and the occasional pop from the twin exhausts on the overrun alluding to the turn of speed available under the discreetly bulging bonnet. Few cars genuinely suit an automatic gearbox but the standard Aston V8 is a car that perfectly mates the 5.3 litre V8 to the Chrysler-derived 3-speed Torqueflite automatic gearbox. Gears change with barely a quiver and the kick-down can be executed without fuss. This, rather special, early V8 Oscar India was finished, according to the copy build sheets, in Blenheim Silver with dark blue leather in 1979 and delivered to a Mr D. H. Britt of Elwell & Brown Ltd of Dudley on the 2nd February 1980. Interestingly the car is fitted with the Aston V540 engine, one of the last variants fitted before the V580 became the standard for the model. On 1st May 1984, the car was sold to businessman Mr Fairhurst and registered to his home address Wingfield Castle, Suffolk. In 1987 Mr Fairhurst moved to the Isle of Man, registering the car there, which may account for the low indicated mileage. It returned to the mainland in 2001 in the care of its third owner a Mr Meade who subsequently arranged for the car to be sold to a Mr Joyce via Goodwood Green Classics Ltd. of London with a mileage of just 15,215. The Aston was restored by Marksdane Restoration Ltd. in 2003 and the colour was changed from the, rather bland, Blenheim Silver to the far more suitable Windsor Blue at that point and there are numerous invoices detailing the work carried out. The car was placed in storage from 2007 to 2013 and was later purchased by Mark Lloyd, the managing director of Marksdanes Restoration Ltd., to be used as his personal car after some recommissioning. When our vendor, an air traffic controller used to precision and order, saw the car he was particularly impressed and bought it from Mr Lloyd in 2014. Our vendor is a true Aston enthusiast and has owned half a dozen examples of the Marque, including a DB6, and undertook a programme of subtle upgrades to enhance the driving experience and preserve the car for future generations including twin Vantage exhausts, Harvey Bailey handling kit, electronic ignition and a new air conditioning unit, that is a great improvement on the rather asthmatic factory unit. The leather interior was refreshed, sound and heat insulation renewed and new boot carpets fitted. Structurally, attention was given to the sills, outriggers and jacking points and the brake servos were overhauled. A full list of works, complete with receipts, is contained in the generous history file.To conclude, we offer this car in a very good 'driver's' condition. Minor blemishes are limited to a little paint bridging at the bottom of the pillars, as is often seen on this model, and the inside corner on the left-hand petrol flap may require future attention. These blemishes are acknowledged by the vendor as only being rectified by a bare metal re-spray, an undertaking that is really not necessary for the foreseeable future and otherwise the coachwork and paint finish presents wonderfully.Offered to auction freshly MoTd, which it flew through naturally, with the delightfully low mileage of 24,150 miles. 2002 Renault Clio V6

Lot #340 (Sale Order 40 of 67)

The Clio V6 Phase 1. 227 bhp (230 PS), 60 mph in 6.2 seconds, top speed 146 mphFinished in Iceberg Silver Metallic over Renault Sport half-leather, half-suede Sports seatsJust 50,172 miles from new and original service book showing 9 stampsMost recent service in August '17 included a new cambelt and a water pump Supplied with an MoT, a UK V5c, and its book pack The Clio V6 was in many ways the spiritual successor to the mid-engined 5 Turbo - a true motorsport homologation special of the 1980s. Taking inspiration from the 5 Turbo, Renault created an equally wide-hipped, mid-engined, 'baby supercar' in the Clio V6. Launched in 2001, the Clio V6 Phase 1 was broadly based on the Renault Clio Mk ll, but the V6 variant actually shares very little with its standard counterpart. Utilising a tweaked version of the proven and unstressed 3.0-litre V6 24V unit from the Laguna saloon in place of the rear seats, the Clio V6 Phase 1 had access to 227 bhp (230 PS) which was enough to propel it from 0-60 mph in just 6.2 seconds, with a top speed of 146 mph. Certainly not for the faint-hearted, these rear-wheel drive cars were built in genuinely limited numbers and driven by true enthusiasts of the day. This right-hand drive, UK-supplied car (number 470 of 1,513) was originally sold through D.S Dalgleish & Son Renault in October 2002 finished in Iceberg Silver and sporting a half leather/half suede interior with Blue carpets. The service book and pile of invoices that accompany the car detail its seven visits to a Renault main dealer as supported by a raft of invoices, whilst the latest service was completed at Dryclough Lane Garage in August 2017 when the car also benefitted from a new cambelt and water pump. In beautiful overall condition, this Clio V6 is supplied with a UK V5c, an MoT until 4th October 2019, its original book pack, a folder full of invoices, and an odometer showing just 50,172 miles.Classic car history often suggests that it's the early cars that end up being the most sought-after and this Phase 1, the essence of modern mid-engined motoring 18 years ago, will no doubt be a classic in the future. 1985 Porsche 911 (930) Turbo SE 'Flat Nose'

Lot #341 (Sale Order 41 of 67)

The first example delivered to the UK, utilised as the factory press car Number of superb factory options, confirmed by Porsche GBFinished in its original colour of Silver Metallic and special order full 'Can-Can Red' leather interiorFitted with extremely rare Recaro Ideal 'C' seatsFully documented ownership history; just 34,000 miles; enviable service/maintenance history An exciting opportunity for any lover of the Porsche marqueAt the 1973 Paris motor show, Porsche unveiled a prototype turbocharged 911, the 'Type 930'. By utilising a Kuhnle, Kopp and Kausch (KKK) turbocharger, the 930 was the most powerful production Porsche thus far and, suddenly, the 911 was a supercar. The production-ready 911 Turbo was shown at the Paris show in autumn 1974 and, not surprisingly in an era when turbocharging was seen as rather exotic, it captivated the world's motoring press. Rightly, it was billed as a supremely fast and luxurious flagship model, combining ballistic performance and head-turning looks with air conditioning, electric windows and other creature comforts. Anyone who followed the 'World Championship of Makes' will remember their surprise at the shape of the new 935 when it first appeared at Mugello in March 1976. Subsequently, these 'Flat Nose' 935s and 936s (in Group 6) were to prove very competitive in the hands of Ickx, Mass and Stommelen and during the next two seasons managed four victories in eight World Championship races and a triumph at Le Mans in each year. However, Porsche began to worry that all these high-profile victories by the works Flat Nose cars - most famously the 'Moby Dick' 935 - might alienate the vast number of private clients who were investing their own money in conventionally shaped competition 911s, hence decided to restrict their efforts for 1978 to an entry at Le Mans. However, the distinctive look of the Flat Nose or 'Flachbau' (literally translated as Low Build) struck a chord in the minds of their road car customers. This demand was initially catered for by 'Kremer Racing' who offered a conversion but subsequently this service was taken up by the factory's own Customer Department to special order (Sunderwunschen) from 1981, becoming an official option only in 1986. The front wings were steel, incorporating cooling vents and pop-up headlamps while the rears had extra cooling intakes. There were different sills and along with the body modifications came an even more luxurious interior. The SE 'Flatnose' was a fully bespoke, hand-built option for the 1980's Porsche buyer and was over twice as expensive as a standard 930 Turbo when newThe car presented here is a 1985 Porsche 911 (930) SE Flat Nose and was first registered on 11th November 1985 to Porsche GB Ltd. on the famous '911 HUL' number-plate. The 1st of just 50, right-hand drive factory 'Flat Nose' models, this example was the Porsche GB press car for many months and featured in numerous publications such as 'Car' Magazine in January 1986. It has covered just 34,241 (verifiable) miles. Finished in its original colour of Silver Metallic, this example was not only the first delivered to the UK, but featured a number of superb factory options, including the extremely rare Recaro Ideal 'C' seats, special-order full Can-Can Red leather interior, a full engine conversion with 330bhp, and a modified front spoiler and oil cooler, with all of these specifications confirmed by Porsche GB.The car was purchased by its previous (and fourth) owner over 16 years ago in April 1999 at 12,200 miles, and boasts a fully documented service history from new, substantiating the mileage and demonstrating that this example has been cared for by knowledgeable Porsche experts such as Bob Watson Engineering, Steve Bull, Porsche GB Reading and Stratstone of Wilmslow. In April 2015 a comprehensive service and check were carried out, plus an A/C service, and a new clutch, new front discs and pads, starter motor, alternator, ignition box, battery and 4 'Continental Sport' tyres, all within the last few thousand miles or so. The current owner is a true classic car enthusiast, ensuring regular maintenance/servicing over the last few years (including a Turbo rebuild), all completed by a Porsche Centre (and their accredited specialists), but circumstances dictate that his Flat Nose must now be sold. Supplied with its original stamped service books, manuals, wallet, a comprehensive invoice file since 1999, and a number of previous MoT Certificates, we welcome any inspection. This very special car is a blue-chip icon of its era and represents an exciting opportunity for any lover of the Porsche marque. 1967 Ford Mustang 390GT 'Bullitt' Homage 1967 Ford Mustang 390GT 'Bullitt' Homage

1967 Ford Mustang 390GT 'Bullitt' Homage

Lot #342 (Sale Order 42 of 67)

15-year restoration and $150,000 of invoices excluding labour575 bhp 410 ci balanced Windsor engine Ford Racing TKO 600 5-Speed manual Front and rear coil over suspension Rack and pinion steeringFinished with a two-stage PPG Urethane paint in Dark Highland GreenAn engineering masterpiece underneath Whenever filmmakers tried to create an exciting car chase action scene, they were hampered by technical limitations like rear-screen projectors that took you out of the scene at the crucial moment. But then 'Bullitt' was released in 1968 with the most realistic depiction of a car chase movie-goers had ever seen. Bullitt essentially did for movie car chases what Star Wars did for science fiction films. That's because, unlike other movies at the time, the stunt driving was all real. There were no cheap rear-screen projections used for the close-up shots of the actors, and none of the scenes were sped up in post-production to heighten the sense of speed. They didn't need to be, because those cars really were barreling through the streets of San Francisco at over 110 mph. There was a sense of danger unlike any movie chase before it as the two muscle cars weaved through traffic and jumped over the hills of San Francisco, while the camera literally put you in the driving seat. The soundtrack is glorious, too - and we don't mean the music soundtrack. Not a word of dialogue is spoken during the 11-minute long sequence. Apart from the scene setting jazz score that does a great job of building tension before the chase erupts in a cloud of tire smoke, there's no music either, allowing you to appreciate the sound of two thunderous V8 muscle cars and their screaming tortured tyres battling it out. Bullitt set the standard for all movie car chases to follow, making it the most iconic and influential chase scene of all time despite the last twenty years of CGI, mainly because it's real and you can go to San Francisco and wonder 'how in the hell did they do that'.Many enthusiasts have dreamed of owning a Mustang just like Steve McQueen's in the movie and worldwide a good number have sourced a '67 or '68, 390GT Fastback Mustang, painted it Highland Green, popped on some Torque-Thrust wheels, and have had a lot of fun.One such young man was Bradley Hunt who, with his brother Jack L Hunt III, are the third generation of the family to run Jack L Hunt Automotive-Sales-Service in San Rafael, California, a large car sales, service and restoration business that had been started by 'Granpappy' back in 1927. He decided it would be fun to create a Bullitt 'homage' and set about the task around 16 years ago and the result is here. This specific car is an original 1967, C-Code, 1967 San Jose produced, 390GT fastback Mustang that has been subject to a long-term, bare metal rotisserie restoration. Preparation of the shell took an age but the benefit of the rotisserie is that it's possible to achieve the same level of finish underneath as on top. When ready, it was finished with a two-stage PPG Urethane paint in Dark Highland Green.Power is delivered by a balanced and blueprinted, 410 ci Windsor 'stroker' with a nett 575hp and 550 ft-lbs of torque mated to a 5-speed Ford Racing TKO gearbox which is rated to 600hp and 600 lbs torque. A Fab-9 posi-trac 9" Ford 3.9-1 differential does a good job of transferring that prodigious output cleanly to the 17" American Racing Wheels 'Torque-Thrust D with custom offset', which are absolutely the right wheels for a modified '67 Mustang. To keep the car going in the right direction, be it sideways or straight, front and rear coil-over suspension has been engineered and rack and pinion steering installed using Total Control Products.Uprated front and rear disc brakes with 6-pot calipers and a 'Willwood 'master cylinder with piggyback proportioning valves and steel brake hoses deal with the retardation and, we understand, cope well with the large (occasionally very large) numbers involved.Any inspection underneath will reveal, not only the cleanest, shiniest set of mechanicals you have ever seen on a used car but some serious engineering solutions to steering, braking and geometry. Whoever built this car knew what they were doingCustom leather sports seats, a Shelby roll-bar, and Auto Motor Sport-Comp gauges finish the interior to an excellent standard.Full build details can be found in the history file along with an invoice for in excess of $150,000 for parts and components alone without a charge for labour, a frightening prospect considering the whole project took a reported 15 years. Supplied with a NOVA number and a valid MoT, this engineering masterpiece is ready for UK registration.Whether this was supposed to be an inch-perfect recreation of McQueen's film car or a superb homage to the Bullitt car using m Click here for more information

1966 Mercedes-Benz 230SL Pagoda 1966 Mercedes-Benz 230SL Pagoda

1966 Mercedes-Benz 230SL Pagoda

Lot #344 (Sale Order 44 of 67)

UK-supplied, RHD Pagoda showing just 71,000 miles with complete historyMatching numbers, two owners from new, the second from 1974, a true time capsuleSubstantial history folder with service booklet showing 18 services at a main agentLow ownership, classic colours, original and correct, a rare opportunity The second generation of the SL series began with the 230 of 1963. Designed by Paul Bracq, its wonderfully crisp styling clothed a monocoque chassis equipped with all-round independent suspension, power assisted disc/drum brakes, recirculating ball steering and a 2306cc straight-six engine producing 150bhp and 145 lbs-ft of torque mated to either a four-speed manual or automatic transmission. The car was an international hit for Mercedes-Benz throughout the 1960s and has remained hugely popular amongst film stars, musicians and enthusiasts ever since. The 230 SL Pagoda we have on offer here is perfectly honest and original, just the way we enthusiasts love to see them, full of character and a charm that no restoration can ever replicate. It's a UK, right-hand drive car finished in Silver Grey Metallic, fitted with an automatic gearbox, and first registered on the 1st of August 1966. The original service booklet shows the first three services were carried out by the supplying Mercedes-Benz Dealership, Croft & Blackburn, in Ripon. Care of the car was then be transferred to Charles Sidney Mercedes-Benz, Bradford, for the next 14 services, the latest showing a mileage of 57,140. A Bill of Sale included in the history folder shows this 230SL became the property of its second owner on the 18th of June 1974. After the 18th main dealer service, the second keeper decided he would personally keep up the maintenance schedule with all work documented including dates and mileage. The substantial history folder includes MoT Certificates from 1975 to 2012 leaving, in our opinion, no reason to discount the mileage showing on the speedometer. This history folder also includes Tax Discs from 1975 onwards, the original Mercedes-Benz build-sheet, the original logbook, and the original book pack including the service booklet. Also accompanying the car in this sale will be its original tool kit and spare keys with the original key-fob.Please note; the following works have been undertaken by the vendor to prepare this vehicle for the sale. Recently issued MoT with no advisories as of 24/09/18.Reconditioned radiator and header tankReconditioned front brake callipers with new padsReconditioned rear brakes including new wheel cylinders, new brake shoes etcOil & filter change. Fuel filter replacement. Automatic transmission fluid changedNew battery. Five new tyresFull vehicle check and fresh MoTOn test, this wonderfully well-preserved car is said to drive perfectly, as you would expect from such a well looked after example. The chrome is excellent, and the interior appears to be in good order with the original headlining, dashboard and 'Tex' seats also presenting well. Having been dry-stored for the last four years the car is to be presented for sale recommissioned with a fresh MoT Certificate. Rarely do Pagodas, UK-supplied, RHD, very low ownership and with such a fantastic history folder come to market, an opportunity surely not to be missed. 1990 Lister Le Mans Mk III Convertible 1990 Lister Le Mans Mk III Convertible

1990 Lister Le Mans Mk III Convertible

Lot #345 (Sale Order 45 of 67)

• A lot of its life in private collections consequently only 15,000 miles from new
• 7.0 litres of extensively developed V12 producing a staggering 604bhp
• One of only five 'Le Mans' convertibles produced in 1990
• Finished in Rolls-Royce Royal Blue metallic with a blue-piped, magnolia leather interior
• Cost new was a staggering £167,000, five times the price of the donor XJ-S!
Lister is one of the most renowned names in sports car racing history, the Lister-Jaguar, designed by Brian Lister, sweeping all before it during its first full racing season in 1957. Then, in recent years, cars bearing the Lister name have been a major force in GT Racing worldwide. From the early 1980s, the name has also graced some of the world's fastest road cars, after an agreement first with BLE Automotive and then WP Automotive resulted in a number of highly modified XJ-S models marketed as Lister-Jaguars. The famous Lister Jaguar connection made its commercial reappearance in 1986. Approximately 90 tuned Jaguar XJS 'Le Mans' were produced the emphasis being very much on 'supercar' performance. For those who felt the standard V12 Jaguar engine a bit insipid, Lister added a comprehensive tuning package. The fuel injection was modified with four additional injectors and throttle bodies. The engine management system was tweaked, the heads gas-flowed with larger valves, and to handle the power the crankshaft was nitrided, whilst Cosworth con-rods carried specially forged pistons. New bearings and a modified oil system were also deemed necessary in order to reliably deliver the 604bhp that it could now produce. Clearly, the suspension and braking were going to need some attention, and this they duly got. The car was made to look the part too, with a full body kit and superb Lister Recaro leather interior.
This Lister Jaguar is one of only five 'Le Mans' dropheads that were manufactured in 1990 using brand new XJ-S Convertibles as the basis. The car is powered by a Lister-converted 7.0-litre V12 engine, and its 604bhp is transmitted through a Ferrari clutch and a five-speed manual transmission to oversize (335x30x18) Goodyear F1 tyres. Almost certainly the most powerful British passenger car at the time of its construction, the Lister cost a staggering £167,000 when new, getting on for five times the price of the donor XJ-S!
The car offered here was registered initially as the company demonstrator until 1994, then sold to a Mr P. Miles who kept it for two years and then part-exchanged it back to Lister in 1996. It was then sold to a Mr S. Raven who continued to have the car maintained up to 1998 by Listers. It was subsequently sold in 2000 to the Heritage Attractions private collection, who kept it until 2009. With two further private owners between 2009 and 2013, it then became part of 'The Private Collection' in 2013.
Having spent more than half of its life in private collections, this Lister has only covered some 15,000 miles, is in excellent condition, and drives superbly. It has recently benefited from a service in April 2018 and £4,300 has been invested in new alloy wheels, a full exhaust system, and a fresh set of belts. Finished in Rolls-Royce Royal Blue metallic with a blue-piped, magnolia leather interior, this is a rare 'supercar' from the early 1990s, with a pedigree back to Jaguar's glory days of the fifties and sixties. Its physical presence could not be more evocative, a 'Bare-Knuckle Boxer in a Gentleman's Overcoat', the proverbial 'Iron Fist in a Velvet Glove'.
Supplied with an extensive history, past MoTs and a current one until April 2019 (with no advisories), this dramatic car will reward any inspection.

2009 Ford Focus RS 2009 Ford Focus RS

2009 Ford Focus RS

Lot #346 (Sale Order 46 of 67)

Brand new from 'Burns Garages in Cheshire on 23rd April 2009. First Focus RS available in the North/MidlandsTwo totally fastidious owners and only 9,491 miles. Completely unmolested2.5-litre, 5-cylinder Turbo, 301bhp, 324lb/ ft, 2-wheel-drive, 0-60 mph in 5.9 seconds, and 160mphFinished in Frozen White with a showroom-standard interior with RS Grey/Blue RecarosFull Ford service history. Five Service stamps. Factory protection film still on the sills.Original stereo with all codes and paperwork.Original 'Purchase Invoice' and 'Sales Receipts' in the extensive History File The second generation Focus RS is the Focus that Ford originally claimed they would never build – a limited run 300bhp, 'super-hatch'. But we're delighted they did, and make no apology for being enthusiastic about this remarkable little car with its huge twin-blade spoiler at the back, aggressive body kit, and ballistic performance from the turbocharged 2.5-litre, 5-cylinder engine. Only 11,500 examples were built in a production run that lasted a little over three years, with just 4,000 finding homes in the UK.The RS may not have had four-wheel drive, but a combination of Ford's trick Revo-Knuckle front suspension, a Quaife limited-slip diff, and well-judged ESP did a great job of putting the power down and managing the torque-steer while still providing plenty of involvement. The chassis was stiffened by about 30% and bigger drive shafts, a wider track, lower ride height, and a faster steering rack translated into remarkably civilised road manners. With 301bhp and a massive 324lbs ft available, the RS could hit 60 mph in under 6.0 seconds and topped 160mph, all accompanied by a distinctive five-cylinder warble, plenty of turbo chatter, and even the occasional pop and bang from the exhausts. And when you weren't on a charge, the RS was a polite and practical hatchback capable of returning 25-30mpg, easy to park, offered plenty of boot space, and was reasonably quiet at a constant speed. However, with its gaping grille, 19-inch wheels, flared arches, deep diffuser, and a wing that would embarrass a Porsche Turbo, the RS leaves you in no doubt about its intentions. This 2009 Focus RS Mk 2 is finished in seriously cool Frozen White and is in simply immaculate condition. It was purchased new by its original owner, a Ford enthusiast, from Burns Garages Ltd, in Cheshire on 23rd April 2009 and, we understand, was the 1st Focus RS available in the North / Midlands at the time. It was specified from new with Continental Contact Sport 3' Tyres, the 6-speed manual gearbox, Sony DAB Radio and 8 speakers, a heated windscreen, and auto-levelling Xenon headlights with jet wash. The interior is finished in Ford Grey and Blue cloth and the Recaros appear unmarked, as do the carpets, in fact the whole of the interior is virtually in 'showroom' condition. The car has been maintained to 'Original Standard Ford Specification' by Burns Garages with five Service Stamps, the most recent being recorded at 9,004 miles. The current indicated mileage is around 9,500. All the electronics function as Ford intended and the stereo codes and paperwork are present in the original handbook wallet. The car's original Purchase Invoice and 'Sales Receipt' are contained in the comprehensive History File alongside previous MoTs and service invoices. This is a comparatively new vehicle for a classic car auction house but the demand for sporting Fords, no matter what vintage, seems to continue unabated, and with this impressively low mileage and history of care, be sure not to miss out on this really superb example. 2000 BMW Z3M Coupe 2000 BMW Z3M Coupe

2000 BMW Z3M Coupe

Lot #347 (Sale Order 47 of 67)

A UK-supplied, right-hand drive, S50-engined car (E36 M3 321bhp) Finished in Estoril Blue Metallic with an Estoril Blue and Black Nappa interior Well serviced and maintained throughout. One previous owner and just over 64,000 miles Supplied with a UK V5c and MoT tested until July '19 Very much an oddball and all the better for it, the Z3 M Coupe follows no model lineage and wasn't replaced when production ceased, but what a wonderful hiccup in the corporate product line this car was. The M Coupé housed the fabulous straight six engine from the M3 in a smaller body based upon the two-seat Z3. There were three distinct iterations of the Z3M Coupe made for the UK market over the model's short life. Until April 1999 the car was referred to as the S50 pre-facelift, between April '99 and 2001 it's known as the S50 post-facelift, and the rarest of the three was built between 2001 and 2002 and is known as the S54 facelift car.The main distinguishing feature is the engine used. The S50 engined car (321 bhp) was built between 1998 and 2001 using motive power from the E36 M3 and the later S54 engined model (325bhp) was manufactured between 2001 and 2002 and adopted the power unit from the E46 M3. Apart from the engine, the main differences between models are the drive by wire throttle, DSC system, and externally, shadow chrome wheels.Offered here is a, 2000 year, UK, right-hand drive, S50-engined Z3M Coupe which was first registered to BMW Cooper Ipswich in March of that year, before being purchased by its only private owner in April 2000. Finished in Estoril Blue with a two-tone blue/black interior the specification includes; Sports seats, air conditioning, M-Sport steering wheel, diff lock and a heated door mirror & driver's lock. Incredibly, this car has seen the workshops of BMW main dealers no less than 9 times, as recorded in the service book, with a final service completed by a specialist in July of this year. Accompanied by a raft of invoices, a UK V5c and an MoT until 23rd July 2019, this car has now covered 64,151 miles, is fast becoming a future classic, and would make a shrewd purchase now while they are still available in this condition. . 1956 Land Rover Series I 1956 Land Rover Series I

1956 Land Rover Series I

Lot #348 (Sale Order 48 of 67)

An 88" Land Rover Series I first registered in November 1956The recipient of a full refurbishment and finished in Bronze Green with Exmoor Green seatingFitted with a more modern TDi engine, but sold with a period correct petrol engine and gearbox in need of full refurbishmentSupplied with a UK V5c and a new canvas topThe original Land Rover Series I was designed by Maurice Wilks and launched by the Rover Company of Solihull on 30th April 1948. It had an 80-inch wheelbase and a sturdy box section ladder-frame chassis. The open back with 3 seats in the front design was heavily influenced by the American World War Two Willys Jeep. The Land Rover quickly became popular with both the army and the farming fraternity (not least because it had a 'power take-off' or PTO as standard). The wheelbase was extended to 86 inches in 1955 to give the vehicle more stability and greater load capacity. A canvas top also became a practical addition. The strong, reliable 2.0-litre petrol engine was standard until 1957 when, with the introduction of the Series II model, a diesel engine was offered as an alternative. This right-hand drive Land Rover Series I 88” was first registered in the UK on 26th November 1956. Having been the recipient of a full refurbishment some years ago, this 'Landy' is finished in the classic colour combination of Deep Bronze Green with body coloured wheels and a new Khaki canvas rear top. The interior has been refinished in new Exmoor Green Square-style seating and the vehicle has been upgraded to a more modern TDi engine making it more efficient and driveable. An age-related petrol engine and gearbox (in need of a full rebuild) accompany the sale, should one wish to return this Series I back to its roots, and it will need to be collected by the buyer after the auction from the vendor. Supplied with a UK V5c and a folder of invoices, this Series I 88” is now in fine condition and ready to roam its natural habitat in the countryside - the perfect companion for those summer evening jaunts to your local! 2015 Volkswagen XL1 2015 Volkswagen XL1

2015 Volkswagen XL1

Lot #349 (Sale Order 49 of 67)

Two-seat, limited production. 800cc diesel-powered, plug-in hybridMade from carbon fibre reinforced polymer and weighs just 795kgSuper-aerodynamic. Only needs 8bhp to achieve a steady 62mph and 313mpgOne of only 200 built worldwide, one owner, less than 100 miles from newLeft-hand drive. Finished in Oryx White Pearl. Just serviced by Volkswagen UK Revealed at the Qatar Motor Show in 2011, the VW XL1 not only looks amazingly futuristic but also features a whole raft of pioneering construction and drivetrain technology. Power comes from a meagre 800cc TDI two-cylinder common rail diesel engine which develops just 48bhp. It's linked to an electric motor producing a further 27bhp, resulting in a far more respectable 75bhp when working together. Bearing in mind the kerb weight is just 795kg, that's adequate to scoot it along quite nicely we presume as you go through the 7-speed DSG gearbox fitted to the car. It will even run just on the electric motor with zero emissions - and in this mode it has a range of 50km (31 miles). That's more than enough to get you to your local supermarket for the weekly shop. The XL1's suitably streamlined body is equally innovative. It's made from Volkswagen's patented carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) which is constructed using a process called resin transfer moulding (RTM). Elsewhere, magnesium wheels, ceramic brake discs and the use of aluminium for the dampers, steering and brake callipers help shave off that all important weight. In fact, just 23.2% of the car is made out of either steel or iron. Meanwhile, friction optimised wheel bearings and driveshafts, as well as special low-rolling resistance Michelin tyres, contribute to the low energy consumption and this technologically advanced masterpiece was made at VW's Osnabruck factory. Fundamentally, the XL1 is a two-seater with gullwing doors and shrouded rear wheels being the key design features helping to keep the drag efficient to a minimum. That's not to mention the natty use of small cameras (e-mirrors) instead of traditional wing mirrors to tell the driver what's going on outside. Remember Audi being boastful of its ground-breaking 100 model's 0.30 drag coefficient back in the early 1980s? Well, the VW XL1 virtually halves that with its figure of 0.186, making it the world's most aerodynamic road-going production car to date. This example is a one-owner car that has never been sold outside of the dealer network and is still registered to Volkswagen UK. With just 79 miles delivery mileage on the clock, it's just had a service completed by Volkswagen UK based on a time interval rather than mileage. Having always been transported, rather than driven this surely must be the lowest mileage and near to new example available on the market today. Click here for more information

1960 Facel Vega HK500 1960 Facel Vega HK500

1960 Facel Vega HK500

Lot #350 (Sale Order 50 of 67)

The legendary Facel Vega HK500. An outstanding combination of alluring styling and a roaring Chrysler V-8Very rare, right-hand drive, manual, 35,000 miles and now fitted with power steeringTubular frame with independent front suspension, live rear axle and over 390bhp from the 6.2-litre V8Owned by our private vendor since 2009 forming part of his eclectic collectionThree previous owners and a full mechanical rebuild by Facel specialists, Hans Ruhe in the NetherlandsTo quote from the 1957 brochure "For the Few Who Own the Finest" Founded by Jean Daninos in 1939, Forges et Ateliers de Construction d'Eure-et-Loir (FACEL) originally specialised in the production of aircraft materials before the outbreak of war in 1939. After World War II, Facel distributed car bodies to Panhard, Simca and Ford France. It would not be until 1954 that Facel began to manufacture its own vehicle, the Facel Vega FV, which was unveiled at the Paris Salon in 1954. Crippling legislation immediately after the war made it virtually impossible for luxurious cars to be manufactured in France, but despite this, Jean Daninos was passionate about reigniting the romance of lavishly glamorous French motoring. With no post-war European power unit available that would suitably complement the magnificent luxurious interior and exterior of his new creation, Daninos turned to the 276 cubic inches (4.5-litre) De Soto Firedome V-8. This was a dependable engine, with a 7.5:1 compression ratio and pushrod-operated overhead valves, pushing out 170 horsepower at 4,500 rpm and capable of propelling this imposing piece of French architecture to a top speed of 130mph. Despite the staggering $7,000 asking price at launch, buyers were still flocking to take ownership of Daninos beautiful creation.Later developments saw the introduction, in 1956, of the Facel Vega FVS, further evolving into the all-new HK500 in 1959. The chosen engine to power the next chapter in Facel history was the most famous of them all, the 383 cubic inch V-8, which produced a thundering 360bhp and a claimed top speed of 147mph. Through this outstanding combination of alluring styling and significant power, the Facel Vega HK500 legend was born. The media were hugely excited with Facel's latest sports coupé. A 'Mechanix Illustrated' magazine tester, Tom McCahill, said the HK500 was, "Sexier than the Place Pigalle and throatier than a Russian basso; A sporting piece of equipment that looks like money, which is exactly what it costs ($9,795 new). A car to be appreciated as a remarkable and wonderfully satisfying road companion". Adored for its charm and style, the Facel Vega HK500 captivated the hearts of the masses, with numerous celebrities such as Dean Martin and Ava Gardner taking ownership of this pinnacle of French elegance. Drawn by Jean Daninos himself, the Facel Vega seamlessly incorporates American styling with French glamour.Mechanically, the HK500 was very similar to its predecessors. The chassis was designed by Lance Macklin, a tubular frame featuring independent front suspension coils and wishbones; whilst at the rear, a live axle is held in place by longitudinal semi-elliptic springs. With over 390bhp available from the roaring Chrysler V-8, the HK500 was one of the fastest cars of its day. This HK500 is a very special car indeed. '#HKBD1' is an early right-hand drive fitted with the desirable manual gearbox and is finished in White with a red leather interior. The odometer is showing just over 35,000 miles, which looking at the previous MoTs in the accompanying history file could well be accurate. Our vendor has owned this car since 2009, forming part of his significant private collection, and only three owners have had the chance to enjoy this magnificent Voiture before him. Prior to our vendor's ownership, marque specialist Hans Ruhe (Amicale Facel Holland) oversaw a mechanical rebuild of the car and there are invoices in the accompanying history file detailing this. More recently, our vendor has entrusted GTC Engineering in Silverstone to look after the Facel's various needs and the decision was taken under his ownership to fit power steering to enhance the driving experience. It doesn't look like the car has ever been fully restored as such, just lovingly cared for over the years. Our vendor has thoroughly enjoyed his time with 'HKBD1', especially attending events such as the 2010 Goodwood Revival in which this he took the Facel to be showcased as part of the 'Great Touring Greats' category, but the time has now come for someone else to enjoy this sensational automobile. A previous sales sheet in the accompanying history file states that the 6.2 V8 four-barrel carburettor Chrysler 'Wedge' engine in this model produced 390bhp at 5,000 rpm and a top speed of 147mph. 1942 Willys Jeep 1942 Willys Jeep

1942 Willys Jeep

Lot #351 (Sale Order 51 of 67)

A genuine early Willys Jeep and not a post-war import 1942 Willys early pressed rear panelSympathetic nut and bolt rebuild in 2011 by well known Land Rover specialist and historianOver £8,000 spent on parts alone, not including labourWell sorted and ready to go.Original registration number Although forever associated with Willys-Overland, the original Jeep military vehicle was developed by American Bantam, formerly American Austin. Designed to meet the US Army's requirement for a rugged, go-anywhere, four-wheel-drive vehicle capable of surviving on the barest minimum of unskilled maintenance, Bantam's prototype was up and running by 1940, meeting the Army's requirements apart from the engine, which was deemed insufficiently powerful. The Pentagon though, doubted Bantam's ability to meet the military's post-Pearl Harbour demands so the major contracts went to Willys and the Ford Motor Company, which would be responsible for the Jeep's trademark slotted radiator grille. Willys made various modifications to take advantage of a revised maximum weight requirement, which meant it was able to use its relatively heavy but adequately powerful 'Go Devil' engine. It was in this revised form that the Jeep would enter volume production. Willys-Overland's final production version was the Model MB, Ford's being designated the Model GPW. Produced by the million, the ubiquitous Jeep saw service in every theatre of WW2 and continued in military service with armies worldwide for several decades thereafter. Today the Jeep remains highly sought after by discerning military vehicle enthusiasts. This example is a June 1942, Willys M.B with an early pressed rear panel, no blackout lamp and no Jerry can. It's ex-British Army, was released in1958, and comes from long-term ownership. In 2011, it was subject to a sympathetic rebuild with body parts renewed but still retains the original bulkhead and wheel arches. Many new parts including, rebuilt engine and ancillaries, new gearbox, loom, allied Canvas set, Firestones tyres, 12V alternator conversion, brakes and bearings replaced, wire loom, fuel system and much more. The driver's seat has been modified to suit a larger build driver! Comments from our vendor;'It had £8,000.00 spent on parts alone, not including labour. Purchased in March 2011 and rebuild carried out then. This is an early pattern 1942 and still has all the correct parts and look. Jerry cans, rifle brackets, tow plug, and blackout lamps were not fitted at this stage. The blue markings are correct for the age and would have been changed to white when in active service. The British Army rebuild plate is on the Chassis by LHF Spring which would have been fitted in the 1950s. The vehicle was registered in Taunton and lived between Devon and London after release. The 2nd keeper was related and purchased it in 1970 and owned it until Philip Bashall purchased it in 2011. Apart from a flat battery hence the alternator conversion it has never let me down, though when it was used it was 800 miles at a time in Europe. It attended the 70th anniversary of Jeep in London and a parade with around 100 plus others. It has been on two trips to Normandy and a couple of local shows in 4 years.”This is a well sorted, reliable, ready to go Jeep with its original registration number and is not a post-war import. 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback (Code 63A) 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback (Code 63A)

1965 Ford Mustang Fastback (Code 63A)

Lot #352 (Sale Order 52 of 67)

A 'first year of manufacture' model - very early Fastback and still features the original Mustang 2+2 badgingProduced on the 22nd May 1965 as part of the first production run; from the 'dry' state of Denver, Colorado (DSO code: 51)Presented in its original combination of Vintage Burgundy (code: X) with a Red interior (code: 23)Believed just 76,000 miles; replacement 302 V8 engine (with amended front wing badges) just 20,000 miles ago The original Mustang was exactly the right car at the right time and this 'sports car for the masses' sold a million in less than two years. Available as a notchback coupe, convertible or, from 1965, as a fastback coupe, the array of trim and engine options meant that there was a 'Stang to satisfy everyone, although it was in powerful V8 form that this 'Pony Car' was most fulfilling. The fastback coupe is an effortlessly cool shape and is the Mustang profile that people default to in their mind's eye. The car presented here is a 1965 Mustang Fastback (code: 63A), from the first year of manufacture making it one of the very earliest fastbacks, and still features the original Mustang 2+2 badging. Ford extended manufacture to three plants to meet demand and opened the Metuchen, New Jersey plant on 1st February 1965. This car is from that first production run, dated 22nd May 1965 and is one of a total of just 71,303 built across all three Ford plants that year, so something of a rare beast, especially here in the UK.It looks fabulous in its original Vintage Burgundy paintwork (code: X) with its factory Red interior (code: 23) and is believed to have covered just 76,000 miles from new. The car comes from one of the 'dry' States, Denver, Colorado (DSO code: 51) and appears very solid. It had a replacement 302 cu in (5.0-litre) V8 engine (with amended front wing badges!) about 20,000 miles ago in the US, and benefits from an 'Edelbrock' inlet manifold and carburettor, plus MSD electronic ignition. The C4 auto transmission works well, having had a recent service at American car specialist E G Wright of Ashton-under-Lyne. During the last year, it has benefitted from new front and rear shock absorbers, new bushes, new brake pipes and linings, a new fuel tank, battery and solenoid, and four new tyres. With its gleaming paintwork, bright red interior, and fresh BF Goodrich tyres on big chrome wheels, there is a lot to recommend this early classic Mustang, particularly at such a sensible guide. Today's manufacturers build hundreds of prototypes when developing a new car but Jaguar built only a handful of cars prior to launch and the story of the E-type is now legendary around the globe.'1E14831' was imported from the USA a few years ago and was the subject of a two-year complete ground-up restoration and upgrade by the "Carriage Company" to bring it to a very high standard. The work included the following which has all been photographically documented:Bodyshell dipped and processed with SPL treatment.FABS upgraded bonnet frame. All chrome work to a very high standard. New wiring harness and all ancillary electrical components replaced or overhauled.New high-torque starter motor and alternator fitted. Electronic ignition.Cooling system upgraded incorporating a Revo fan.Engine completely stripped, re-machined, new pistons fitted with all internals replacedHead conversion and upgraded to unleaded fuel. 1995 Porsche 911 (993) Carrera 2 Tiptronic 1995 Porsche 911 (993) Carrera 2 Tiptronic

1995 Porsche 911 (993) Carrera 2 Tiptronic

Lot #354 (Sale Order 54 of 67)

Family owned from new with only two registered keepers and just 40,000 milesService book includes main dealer service stamps and bills and just one specialist stampThe Porsche and the family's Rolls-Royce were regularly treated to oil and filter changes by their private mechanicRecent servicing works at the Porsche Centre Wolverhampton to the tune of £2,379Cherished number, N6 YTC, the only number the car has worn, is generously offered The 993 was the final generation of the air-cooled 911, and as such will always have a special place in the affections of Porsche enthusiasts. It is also widely said to be the last of the 911s that were built whilst engineering integrity overruled accounting pressures at Porsche. Twenty years on, it still looks modern - a truly timeless design. The 993 was launched in the autumn of 1994 and was claimed to be 80% new. The bodywork was altogether more curvaceous, with a number of new panels and the overall look was much smoother and more integrated. Importantly, this new style was still every inch a 911 in the traditional manner, with the profiles of the doors and rear quarter windows remaining unchanged from earlier models. The biggest change under the skin was the new multi-link rear suspension, giving greater driver confidence, less road noise and excellent ride quality. Designed to give a level of passive rear-wheel steering (the 'Weissach effect'), thus controlling the way the suspension behaved under cornering, braking and acceleration, it transformed the 911. It was also the first 911 to be equipped with power steering and an advanced ABS system. The 993 uses essentially the same 3.6-litre engine as the 964, mated to a development of the worthy G50 gearbox, but now with six forward gears or the smooth Tiptronic automatic gearbox. Whereas the Porsche 964 produced 247 bhp, the 993 from 1995 produced 272bhp enabling a top speed of over 150mph and acceleration to match. The Guards Red with Grey Leather Porsche 911 993 Carrera 2 (Tiptronic) that we have the pleasure to present to auction has the dual distinction of being family owned and showing a warranted 40,000 miles from new. First registered to a gentleman in Shropshire on 1st August 1995 the sophisticated dual-function gearbox made this little Porsche eminently drivable and when it was registered in his wife's name on the 31st October 2015. The family also owned a 1996 Rolls-Silver Spur from new up until this year and both the Spur and Porsche were treated to regular oil and filter services by the family's private mechanic. The extensive history file shows a myriad of receipts and the service book shows stamps from Porsche main dealers, bar one in 2005. Recent bills from the Porsche Centre Wolverhampton in June this year amount to £2,379 in exchange for a full service, auxiliary belts, and sundry other items. To conclude, therefore, it is rare to find a find a 993 Carrera 2 with just two owners from the same family and so lightly used, with the indicated mileage at a shade under 40,000 at the time of consignment. Presented to auction freshly serviced with an MOT until April 2019 and a substantial history file. Click here for more information

1981 Porsche 911 (930) Turbo 1981 Porsche 911 (930) Turbo

1981 Porsche 911 (930) Turbo

Lot #356 (Sale Order 56 of 67)

An award-winning restoration by JCT600 Porsche Centre Leeds. Both awards were "Porsche Cars GB Employee's Choice" and the second win was for "Best Mechanical Restoration"Featured in a seven-page article in the April 2015 edition of Classic Cars MagazineBought from us in October 2015 joining an important Porsche collection, a further £10,000 has been spent at Tech 9Offered with the largely immaterial mileage of 103,000 miles and an MoT until June 2019. Multiple platitudes have been written about the iconic 930 Turbo and we at Silverstone Auctions have sold more examples than most other auction houses in recent years. It is, therefore, our intention to concentrate on the multiple award-winning restoration of this car, completed by a Porsche main dealer. As Auctioneers, our Legal Department is wary of the terms "as new, like new or better than new" but this situation makes it difficult to describe our 930 Turbo featured here, which would certainly qualify for "Better than new" if only we were allowed to say it... This ambitious project was completed in just six months by the team at the 'Porsche Classic Restoration Centre' to an exceptional standard resulting in two major accolades at the awards ceremony. The first was the winner of "Porsche Cars GB Employee's Choice" and the second win was for "Best Mechanical Restoration". A thorough account of the full restoration is chronicled in a dedicated seven-page feature in the April 2015 issue of Classic Cars magazine and a book produced by the Porsche Centre Leeds. The basis for this restoration was an original UK right-hand drive 1981 930 Turbo which had been discovered in a garage north of Leeds after having been laid up for more than fifteen years. Complete, but down on its luck in terms of condition, it required a full nut and bolt restoration. With just six months to go before the car was to be judged, by 1970 Le Mans 24 Hour winner Richard Attwood, against the efforts of every Porsche Centre in the land, that mid-October deadline at Brands Hatch seemed ambitious. To beat the competition it was clear that attention to detail and a sympathetic nod to originality would be necessary to make this truly 'best of breed'. Andrew Harrison who was responsible for the bodywork and paint recalls "I didn't realise how bad the car was until it was chemically stripped and bead blasted with tiny plastic balls...The inner wings, door panels, doors and spring hangers were the worst areas". With originality being paramount, a flat paint finish would have been out of character in some areas of the car so an orange-peel effect needed to be created on the insides of wings and cill bottoms. This was achieved by using a 68-line paint thickener in Guards Red, normal paint being 23-line. Jack Clarke was responsible for the running gear and brakes. He remembers the moment he saw the project and realised he was in for some late nights to get it all done. "The callipers were seized, the pistons jammed, the handbrake cable stuck and the wheels were scraping on the inside of the wheel arches". These observations weren't too daunting until the brief arrived suggesting that as many parts as possible were required to be retained by sandblasting and zinc plating rather than replacing, and have it all finished in just a few months. Just removing and stripping the brakes took an entire day due to corrosion, split callipers, locked handbrake and perished seals, however, shot blasting, zinc-coating and, no doubt a lot of swearing got it to tip-top standard. Finally, refinished wheels and fresh tyres completed this section. On to the mechanicals, the section for which their major accolade was received. Despite starting and running upon delivery to the JCT600 workshops, it was feared that any extensive engine tests may cause unnecessary harm and since a full mechanical strip, repair and rebuild were scheduled anyway, this started in earnest. Andrew Wrexham, the Porsche Centre Leeds engine shop manager, identified rusty tin-ware, inhibited fins and baffle plates, corroded aluminium parts, nut fittings and pipework as well as more oil on the outside than the inside. As with the bodywork, attention to originality was key so it was imperative that despite being a 33-year-old engine, as many original parts as possible were to be retained. As such, the engine retains its original aluminium crankcases and rocker covers which were vapour-blasted which is the only technique that won't pockmark delicate surfaces. Despite all their heroic efforts, a new wastegate and new turbocharger were ordered and fitted. The gearbox, though thoroughly inspected required little work. It didn't need new synchromesh so was cleaned, reassembled and performs well. The end result is a real credit to the restorers. Finally, Click here for more information

**Regretfully Withdrawn**1968 Lotus Elan S3 FHC **Regretfully Withdrawn**1968 Lotus Elan S3 FHC

**Regretfully Withdrawn**1968 Lotus Elan S3 FHC

Lot #357 (Sale Order 57 of 67)

**Regretfully Withdrawn** Subject to a recent complete restoration, including the mechanicals Presented in a lovely shade of Wedgewood Blue From a true Lotus marque enthusiastAmazingly packaged, extremely capable and surprisingly roomy sportscar - ready to be enjoyedThe Lotus Elan burst onto the scene in 1962 as the first road-going Lotus to use the now synonymous combination of a steel backbone chassis coupled to a separate fibreglass body. Colin Chapman proudly announced in the launch literature that "We wanted to build you a fun car..."A technologically advanced DOHC development of Ford's proven 'Kent' engine, bored out to 1558cc provided the propulsion, whilst cutting-edge features such as all-round disc brakes, fully independent suspension, and rack and pinion steering provided agility and handling that was second-to-none.The Series 3 Fixed Head Coupé arrived in 1965 closely followed by the S3 soft top. In line with Lotus's intention to move upmarket and justify an increase in prices, the quality of fit and finish had been improved over the earlier Elans and the Coupé sported a considerably smarter dashboard. The new S3 further benefited from revised windows with frames to reduce cabin noise and, of course, the windows were now electrically operated. This superb Series 3 presents beautifully in Wedgewood Blue and has clearly been very well maintained by its five former keepers. Owned by our vendor since 2007, it has recently been subject to a complete restoration, including all mechanicals, and now drives as well as any Elan should. Details of all this attention can be found in the extensive owner's file containing lots of invoices and vehicle history. Quite rightly, the Lotus Elan is today regarded as one of the finest British sports cars of all time and the S3 coupé is arguably the most beautiful of all the early Elans. 'On the button' and ready for the next chapter in its life, this little Lotus has many more years of enjoyment to offer. Click here for more information

1990 Aston Martin Virage 6.3-litre 'Works Special' coupe 1990 Aston Martin Virage 6.3-litre 'Works Special' coupe

1990 Aston Martin Virage 6.3-litre 'Works Special' coupe

Lot #358 (Sale Order 58 of 67)

Manufactured as a standard Virage; traceable ownership history; excellent provenance Converted to '6.3' specification by Aston Martin Works in 1993 costing circa £50,000'Vantage' coachwork added later by AM dealership 'Stratton Motor Company'Believed to be 1 of 12 Distributor Demonstrators Engine rebuild in 2005 by Ian Moss; fully restored by AM specialists in 2010 The shortcomings of the Virage were being worked on by Aston Martin from the beginning of 1991. Their solution, ahead of the forthcoming twin-supercharged Vantage, was for the Works Service Department to offer 6.3-litre conversions for the existing 5,340cc V8-engined cars. Introduced in January 1992, this package could cost more than £60,000 (depending on options) and offered increased power whilst offering a menu of modifications to the bodywork, suspension, and brakes. This treatment could be ordered new or retrofitted to customers' existing cars. Power was upped to circa 450bhp, thanks to boring and stroking the V8 to 6.3 litres, which gave the two-tonne leviathan the wallop the world expected. To cope, huge ventilated brakes were fitted to all corners, along with bigger OZ alloy-wheels and tyres, with flared arches to accommodate matters. Most crucially, the suspension was uprated also, and a conventional de Dion rear end was fitted, using Watts linkage/radius arm location, whilst at the front the spring rates were increased. The suspension tuning was the work of Rod Mansfield, the legendary Ford SVO engineer. The car presented here was built in 1990 as a standard Virage and sold new through the authorised Aston Martin Distributor 'Stratton Motor Company' of Norfolk to a Mr Jeremy Pilkington in July 1990, then registered as G907 WHM. This car would become very well known to Stratton Motor Company, with their MD, Roger Bennington, acquiring it back to use personally (registered as RJB 49) in 1991. It was later dispatched to the Works Service Department, where engine builder, Alan Shackell, set about its conversion to 6.3-litres. The car was returned to Stratton Motor Company with the larger engine, wider body and wheels, plus the requisite suspension and brake upgrades, however, it still retained the standard Virage front and rear end appearance at this time. It was subsequently used by the Stratton Motor Company as a Demonstrator to help promote the 6.3-litre conversion package. Following this, in March 1995, it was sold to Mr Anthony Peters, who appropriately registered it as SPY 60 (and later as A5 XXV). As the release of the new Vantage model was imminent, Mr Peters requested that the Stratton Motor Company 'update' his already enhanced 6.3-litre car with Vantage-esque coachwork. Thus, a special front and rear end were crafted, with the new Vantage 'signature' front grille and round rear lights expertly applied. Mr Peters diligent ownership saw Stratton Motor Company continue to service the car regularly, even rebuilding the engine in 1997, right up until March 2000 when it was eventually sold to a Mr Phillip Hall.In May 2002, it was acquired by 'The Runnymede Motor Company' of Buckinghamshire, before selling soon after to a Mr Henry Stevens in July 2002, who registered it as G5 HGS. It was next bought by Mr Colin Trevor (again through Runnymede ) in September 2003, who applied the registration it still wears today C2 AMV. It was briefly owned by Mr Keith Dare, before the urbane Mr Martin Brewer at Runnymede seized another opportunity to advertise it for sale, being bought by our vendor in May 2005. During his dutiful ownership, the car was refreshed with a complete engine rebuild in 2005 by specialist engine builder Ian Moss, son of Four Ashes Garage founder Jack Moss '(see photo listed). The car has been very much enjoyed, having been driven to and around the Le Mans race circuit, whilst always being regularly serviced. In 2010 it was treated to a thorough and documented refurbishment (including a bare metal repaint, work to the chassis and sills, undersealing etc.) completed by Aston Martin specialists 'Rikki Cann Ltd.' of Essex. A 'TCI' high-performance auto gearbox was fitted in June 2012 by Stratton Motor Company. This is an extraordinary car, not frequently described as subtle and definitely not for the faint-hearted, however it still has a lot to offer a new owner, who should feel reassured given its service/maintenance history and its large and very detailed accompanying history file (with a service booklet, handbook, photos, invoices, letters, old V5s and MoTs, build sheets etc.). Presented in generally very good condition, this unique 6.3-litre Aston Martin is British muscle at its finest and is 'proper old school”. Click here for more information

1974 BMW 2002 Turbo

Lot #359 (Sale Order 59 of 67)

Europe's first turbocharged production car and one of just 1,672 builtFirst imported to the UK on 01/07/1982. More recently supplied through Munich Legends in 2007Fitted with new front discs and pads in 2016Supplied with a UK V5c and a folder of invoicesTopical, extremely rare and highly collectable The 2002 Turbo was launched at the 1973 Frankfurt Motorshow and was Europe's first turbocharged production car. With an output of 170bhp and 240Nm feet torque, it was the fastest BMW yet produced, pinching that mantle from the superb 2002 Tii. Only produced in late '73 and '74 there were just 1,672 built, all in left-hand drive and, sadly, very few survive today. Replaced in 1975 by the ubiquitous '3' series, it was the last model to be introduced by BMW whilst they were still regarded as a specialist low volume niche manufacturer. This car was first imported to the UK on 01/07/1982 before being supplied through the respected dealer, Munich Legends in 2007. At that point the entire underside of the car was stripped back to bare metal, repairing and treating any areas of corrosion, before re-stone-chipping. Three owners later the car was exported to Ireland in June 2009, before returning to the UK in 2014. The car appears very original and well cared for and has most likely had a respray at some point in the past but still presents very well today. The speedo shows 8,919 km today which we can only presume is a total of 108,919kms – which would equate to 67,680 miles. This year a BMW 2002 Turbo sold at auction in the USA for an incredible $192,500 showing the surge in demand for these special cars. Rarely are they seen in the 'wild' and you could really turn heads at the next Breakfast Meeting by turning up in this legendary BMW. Click here for more information

1969 Mercedes-Benz 280SL Pagoda 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280SL Pagoda

1969 Mercedes-Benz 280SL Pagoda

Lot #360 (Sale Order 60 of 67)

A UK-supplied 280SL Automatic Pagoda - the one to own! Finished in light gold with a red leather interior and body coloured hardtop Recipient of a body restoration in the late 80s and further improvements in the 90s Supplied with a UK V5c and MoT tested until 3rd July 2019 The Mercedes-Benz 280SL 'Pagoda' was introduced in December 1967 and continued in production through until February 1971. The W113 was then replaced by its successor, the entirely new and substantially heavier R107 350SL. Over the years, the W113 quietly evolved from a nimble 'sports car' into a comfortable 'grand tourer' and was usually equipped with four-speed automatic transmission and air conditioning. The final evolution of the Pagoda was the 280SL, launched in November 1967 with a host of technical improvements, and is now seen as the most refined iteration of the W113 series. The robust new seven-bearing, 2778cc, M130 engine developed 170bhp and perfectly suited the automatic transmission. New one-piece wheel trims distinguished the last W113 but alloys were now an option. By the time production ceased in March 1971, some 23,885 had been made making the 280SL the most popular of all W113 variants. Offered here is an original right-hand drive, Mercedes-Benz 280SL automatic first registered in the UK on 11th March 1969. The car presents really well in Tunis Beige with a red leather interior and carpets throughout. A body coloured hardtop completes the look of this lovely Pagoda. In 1989, one of the former owners embarked on a body restoration which included; new front wings, front headlamp bowls, inner and outer sills, new boot floor, and a full strip down to bare metal and professionally painted. At the same time, the bumpers and grille surround were re-chromed and a new set of glass and rubbers fitted. The engine also received some attention at the time to include; a fully rebuilt injection system, a new water pump, and an overhaul of the cylinder head. In the late nineties, a new beige hood was fitted and the car was properly stored in a heated garage and used mainly during the summer months. This car has clearly been loved over the years as it still presents wonderfully today. It is supplied with a UK V5c and the MoT is valid until 3rd July 2019. Now showing just 39,514 miles on the odometer all the qualities that made the Pagoda SLs so desirable in their heyday remain today - chic styling, Teutonic build quality, and wonderfully spirited driving. The 280SL has never gone out of fashion but interest - and values - have never been stronger than they are today. Click here for more information

1981 Ferrari Mondial 8

Lot #361 (Sale Order 61 of 67)

One of only 145 UK-supplied Ferrari Mondial 8s produced Finished in the classic Ferrari colours of Rosso Corsa over Nero leather Major cambelt service in February 2018 at GVE London Showing 14,817 miles and supplied with its book pack and a UK V5c Launched at the 1980 Geneva Auto Salon, the Mondial was the first Ferrari to depart from the company's familiar three-digit naming scheme and its name was inspired by their famous Mondial sports-racers from the fifties. The Mondial saw Ferrari return to Pininfarina as its choice of styling house, and it was sold as a mid-sized coupe and, eventually, a cabriolet. Conceived as a 'more usable' model, offering the practicality of four seats with the performance of a mid-range Ferrari and hopefully attracting a slightly wider audience than their traditionally more focused two-seaters. The car was not built as a monocoque in a conventional way, but instead, the steel outer body was produced by the famous Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Scaglietti, just down the road in nearby Modena and clothed a lightweight steel box-section space frame. The Mondial was the first Ferrari where the entire engine/gearbox/rear suspension assembly was mounted on a detachable steel sub-frame, making engine removal for a major rebuild or cylinder head removal much easier than it had been on earlier models. In common with most Ferraris launched in the 1980s, the Mondial received several updates until it was discontinued in 1993. The first iteration was dubbed Mondial 8 and was sold for roughly three years, between 1980 and 1982. Production ended at 703 units, about 12-percent of the total Mondial run in 13 years.Offered here is a 1981 Mondial 8 that was supplied new to F. C. Shepherd & Co. Ltd. of London by Maranello Concessionaires as one of the 145 UK-supplied, right-hand drive cars produced. Finished in Rosso Corsa with a black leather interior, it is understood that this car was stored in a London underground car park for over a decade which explains why it hasn't covered many miles. In 2012, the cylinder head was refaced and a new exhaust manifold and radiator were fitted. In 2014, a reconditioned starter motor, front brake callipers, and new front and rear brake discs were fitted. In February 2018, GVE London carried out a full cambelt service, fitted a new battery, re-gassed the air-conditioning, and replaced the anti-roll bar bushes at both front and rear – there is an invoice in the file for £5,078 for this work. Now showing 14,817 miles on the odometer, which we believe to be correct but cannot warrant, this Mondial is supplied with a UK V5c and its book pack. The Mondial's image issues are a thing of the past and a well maintained and set up Mondial is one of the sweetest handling Ferraris of its day, so at today's realistic estimate this car offers great entry into Ferrari ownership. 2009 Aston Martin DBS

Lot #362 (Sale Order 62 of 67)

An impeccably maintained example with the rare manual gearbox Just 2,733 miles. The service book shows nine main dealer stamps in total Complete with book packs and an extensive history file. Supplied with a UK V5c and MoT'd until 9th July 2019 When Daniel Craig sauntered into the Casino Royale, Montenegro for his high-stakes poker game in the eponymous film of 2006, parked outside was his service issued Aston Martin DBS. Menacingly sleek and packing a punch, much like 007 himself, the DBS was to star in a record-breaking action sequence towards the end of the film and an exhilarating opening scene for Craig's second outing as Bond in Quantum of Solace. With a top speed of 191 miles an hour and a zero to sixty time of 4.3 seconds, the DBS was the raffish younger bother to its rather sedate older sibling, the DB9, within the Aston family at the time. Overall, the weight of the two-seat DBS was 65kg lower than the DB9 helped by the lighter weight semi-aniline interior leather and even the standard carpets were made of a lighter-weight fibre. The conventional key was ditched and replaced by a polished sapphire ECU that was inserted into a slot in the starter button. The centre console was changed with a cast metal surround, new graphics and turned-aluminium heater knobs. The UK launch price was £161,147 with many buyers after 2009 ticking the option box for the automatic 'Touchtronic 2' transmission at a further cost of £2,000.We are pleased to offer this rare manual, UK right-hand drive, Aston Martin DBS supplied through Stratstone Wilmslow Aston Martin on the 24th March 2009 in Meteorite Silver with an Obsidian Black leather interior with Silver stitching. The cabin is complemented by Piano-Black wood, charcoal seatbelts and auto-dimming mirrors. Showing just one former keeper, this well-maintained car has been serviced at the supplying dealer no less than 9 times, as recorded in the service book, the last of which was completed in January '18 when the car had covered 2,152 miles. Supplied with a UK V5c, an MoT until 9th July 2019, and its original books, this beautiful example has now covered just 2,733 miles and presents a rare opportunity to buy a 'best of breed' DBS – the ideal collector's car. The Golden Hawk was a one-year-only model that featured the big-block, Packard 352' engine, producing 275bhpAfter the merger of two long-established automotive companies in 1955, the Studebaker-Packard Corporation looked to design their own 'Finned' car with the development of the 1956 Studebaker Golden Hawk. Raymond Lowey and his design studio were commissioned by Studebaker to design a more 'European' style car. Earlier, in 1953, Studebaker had launched the Starliner Coupe, recognised as "one of the most beautiful cars ever made", and beautiful they may have been, but powerful, they were not. In 1956, the top-of-the-range, Golden Hawk, a direct evolution of the '53 model was launched and it addressed the issue of under-power with the fitment of the Packard 352' engine resulting in the Golden Hawk inheriting the mantle of ' America's fastest family car'.Details regarding the engine rebuild;Jack Vines is a renowned builder of Packard engines in the USA. 1998 Bentley Continental T 1998 Bentley Continental T

1998 Bentley Continental T

Lot #364 (Sale Order 64 of 67)

One of just 322 Bentley Continental T's produced pushing out 420 bhp Finished in delectable Black Sapphire over Parchment leather interior Comprehensive service history supports 51,068 miles Supplied with a UK V5c and an MOT until 23rd April '19 The Bentley Continental 'T' is a special motor car and comparatively rare, with just 322 examples gliding out the doors of the Crewe factory between 1996 and 2002. This rarity may have had something to do with an eye-watering list price of £234,000 plus options when new! The 'T' differed from the 'R' having a shorter wheelbase, sportier handling, and an increase in BHP from 400 to 420, but more significantly with a stump-pulling 650lbs/ feet of torque, the highest of any road car at the time and higher even than any F1 car from the 1997 season. The January 1998 'Autocar' said of the car after a road test; "Astonishingly rapid for any coupé, let alone one that weighs the same as five and a half Caterham 7s!"This particular, right-hand drive, UK-supplied, Continental 'T' was first registered on 13th March 1998 and is finished in the delectable colour combination of Black Sapphire with a Parchment leather interior and blue rugs throughout. The cabin looks sumptuous with gleaming Burr Walnut veneers and drilled light-alloy pedals. The service history is comprehensive and details a rear axle replacement by the main dealer Harwoods Bentley. Open the boot and the original Bentley umbrellas and fire extinguisher remain, its three former keepers have obviously really cared for this elegant motor car. The odometer currently indicates 51,068 miles and the Bentley is supplied with a UK V5c, an MoT until 23rd April 2019 and the normal manuals and handbooks in a 'feel-good' wallet. This is a rare opportunity to enjoy the last of the line of the true 'British' Bentleys. Click here for more information

1983 Talbot Sunbeam Lotus Series 2 1983 Talbot Sunbeam Lotus Series 2

1983 Talbot Sunbeam Lotus Series 2

Lot #365 (Sale Order 65 of 67)

Series 2 Talbot Sunbeam Lotus finished in Moonstone Blue with original 'Piccadilly' trimDAC 30Y is one of the final batchOnly four previous owners from new (one for 26 years). 68,000miles supported by 20 old MoT Certificates Totally standard apart from rear Bilstein shock absorbers and all new front Gaz adjustablesRemarkably original interior. Factory trim still looking fresh, original Philips AC480 radio still in place. This cracking little TSL will tick all the boxes for the collector of iconic 1980's hot hatches The Talbot Sunbeam-Lotus was one of the most exciting hot hatchbacks to emerge from the 1970s. It originally came about because Chrysler commissioned Lotus to produce an effective entrant for international Group 4 rallying - to beat the dominant Ford Escort RSs at their own game. Lotus took a 1.6GLS shell and installed a 2.2-litre (Type 911) version of their 16-valve four-cylinder engine and a five-speed ZF gearbox. The new Sunbeam-Lotus certainly looked the part - it was initially offered only in Black and Silver, with Marchal spotlights mounted above the front bumper and tailored 'double four-spoke' cast-alloy wheels. Launched in 1979, the 2174cc twin-cam engine breathed through two twin-choke Dell'Orto carburettors, developed 150bhp, and delivered excellent performance. It proved effective in rallying, winning the challenging 1980 Lombard-RAC event. The road-going version proved quick and balanced, although it was priced higher than the comparable Chevette HS or Escort RS2000.The final batch of cars was sold through a single dealer, Arbury, and these cars were all registered in sequence bearing the marks DAC 2Y to DAC 141Y'DAC 30Y' is a Series 2 Talbot Sunbeam Lotus finished in Moonstone Blue with original 'Piccadilly' trim and was registered in the UK on 14th January 1983. It has covered a genuine 68,000miles which is supported by 20 old MoT Certificates and a current one valid until October 2019. It's supplied with its original book pack/Lotus supplement book/Service book and lots of bills and invoiced history. In 2014, a further £3,500 was invested in mechanical attention with the respected Sunbeam specialists, Skip Brown Cars, and more recently £4,500 has been spent on restoration work mainly to tidy up under the bonnet. Only four previous owners from new and owned by our vendor for 5 years with his predecessor caring for it for 26 years. The car is totally standard apart from rear Bilstein shock absorbers and all new front Gaz adjustables with alloy top mounts, a massive improvement. The interior is also remarkably original, with the factory Piccadilly trim still looking fresh and the original Philips AC480 radio still in place. The spare alloy wheel appears to have been there since the car was new and is still wearing its Pirelli CN 36.Having just benefitted from a new Lotus oil filter and oil change (with invoice) and with the previous four MoTs being issued without any advisories, this Sunbeam Lotus with the desirable "DAC" registration will tick all the boxes for the collector of iconic 1980's hot hatches. 1983 Honda CX500 'Street Scrambler' 1983 Honda CX500 'Street Scrambler'

1983 Honda CX500 'Street Scrambler'

Lot #366 (Sale Order 66 of 67)

A 1983 CX500 Custom, Water cooled, Shaft drive, 5-speedCompletely stripped and a full nut and bolt rebuild. Only 300 miles since. Fresh MoTFrame, forks, tank and panels stripped to bare metal, repainted and coated Engine overhaul, carbs serviced, new suspension, complete brake rebuild, complete rewire Bespoke stainless steel exhaust with black mufflers, specially built spoked wheels with Metz tyres Honda took a different design direction in the late seventies with the arrival of the CX-Series with many innovative features that seemed a bit brave for a mass manufacturer. The 497cc 'Twisted-Twin' produced around 50bhp and sat on top of a five-speed gearbox with shaft-drive to the rear wheel. It was water-cooled with dual CV-type carburettors that were tuned for reduced emissions and starting was electric only, but sensibly the electronic ignition was separate from the rest of the electrical system, enabling the motorcycle to be push-started and ridden in case of total electrical failure. The 1978 CX500 Standard had a large fuel tank, stepped seat, a round brake fluid reservoir and a plastic mini-fairing that was thought to look unusual at the time, and gave the bike the unfortunate nickname "plastic maggot". Fortunately, the CX500C (Custom), introduced a year later addressed the looks issue with a conventional tank and metalwork. Significant numbers of CXs were made in a variety of guises before production ended in 1983 and the CX faded into obscurity. However, amazingly, the CX is back in vogue in a big way and they have obviously been biding their time waiting for their moment of glory. It's impossible to ignore the new wave of CX powered 'café racers' and personalised 'street scramblers' on the roads, with some machines changing hands for serious amounts of money. This distinctive machine started life as a 1983 CX500 Custom and has undergone a full and complete strip down with a full nut and bolt rebuild. The frame and forks were stripped to bare metal, repainted and coated as were the tank and panels. Additionally, it has benefitted from an engine overhaul, new suspension, complete brake rebuild including all new brake pipes, carbs fully serviced and overhauled, complete rewire with all Motogadget equipment, and a completely new water-cooling system including the radiator. It has been fitted with a bespoke stainless steel exhaust with black mufflers, specially built spoked wheels with Metz tyres, new handlebars with all new levers and cables, and a new high-quality leather seat.Since the rebuild was completed the bike has only covered 300 running-in miles and now has fresh fluids and a new MoT. This is a very smart CX Tracker, that is easy to ride with a sensible saddle height, high bars, shaft drive, and smooth gear changes, and no matter if the hair you tuck into your crash helmet is mainly grey, your 'street credibility ' is bound to go up a number of points.(Helmet and gloves not included) Click here for more information

First registered in Spain in 2006, it was UK registered on 1st July 2018Showing 500 kilometres from new and never used off-roadWith 105bhp and just 175kg in weight, the HP2 was launched to huge acclaimDesigned to be used for daily commutes and off-road fun on the weekends. The fact that BMW chose in 2005 to dip its toe into the water with a giant mud-plugger is quite courageous - big weight and big power are not the first things that spring to mind when designing a dirt tool. It's a giant enduro tool for those who wish to ride 70 miles to their local green lane without loss of fillings, traverse it and be home in time for pre-dinner drinks. With 105bhp and just 175kg in weight, the bike was designed for weekly commutes and off-road fun at weekends.First registered in Spain in 2006 the bike was UK registered on 1st July 2018 and we are told it has never been off road.
