Edison Diamond Disc Model B250 Golden Oak

Edison Diamond Disc Model B250 Golden Oak. Untouched original in exceptional condition. Has perfect original grille. Has 2 record storage drawers with original record index and original numbered paper dividers. Machine winds, runs and plays. Original dark brown paint on motor bedplate (red and brown paint on Edison motor bedplates of this vintage are notorious for not aging well, which makes this one even more special). Has a few minor chips here and there, but overall is exceptional. With bold gold pinstriping and oiling instructions, has correct early style reproducer and original gold winding crank. Has original Edison "dolphin" cabinet key. In our opinion, this may very well be one of the finest examples of this hard to find machine that we've ever seen. An additional note of interest is that the B250 was produced only after the devastating fire in the Edison plant December 1914. As a result, the B250 is far less common than its predecessor.

EXTREMELY RARE Original Victor/Victrola Model XX. Approximately 500 were produced in 1908 per "Look for the Dog" production data. Remarkable all original machine in exceptional highly-figured red Laguna mahogany cabinet, with original finished which is slightly crazed The elaborate carvings are handsomely appointed in the original gilded Louis XV style. All decorative embellishments and moldings are present and intact. Cabinet has a few marks here and there. Winds, runs and plays. Has all original gold-plated tone arm and trim. Tone arm support is the early 2- piece style, with a large gold plated knurled thumb screw with original black paint and crisp gold pinstripes. Has original gold exhibition round hole reproducer. Has original gold bullet brake with correct early gold needle cup. Has original gold winding crank. Machine winds, runs and plays. Has early style fully raised motor deck. Has patent applied for decal on its internal horn. Has correct elaborate cabinet knobs. Has uncommon Victor "wreath " type cabinet key. Has original slide-out shelf. Has original accessory drawer. Also has 10 original hard to find record storage boxes, each with their original gold ring pulls, and gold embossed letters A through J; and its original numbered dividers which bear patent information "Patented April 14, 1908". Note of interest: this machine bears serial number 8288. Separately in this auction is a VTLA machine in Circassian walnut, which bears the serial number 8300. This is just a mere 12 numbers that separate these rare and beautiful machines. It is known that the Victor Talking Machine Co. produced high grade or custom machines in groups. There's a real possibility that these 2 machines were on the Victor factory floor at the same time in 1908.Located inside the rear of the cabinet is the original paper licensing label and bears the date February 1 1908, with a suggested price of $300. A unique opportunity to own one of the few known examples of this exceedingly rare machine. A real treasure.

Victrola XX Rare Companion Items. This lot of 3 items consists of a beautiful 6" x 3.5" Victor Victrola XX color advertising card. Front depicts the rare Victrola XX in all its glory. The glossy finish is bright and crisp. The reverse side has a detailed description of this rare machine. This card appears to have been glued into a book of some sort at one time, and has some glue residue at the top of the back side; the front is perfect. Also included is a leather bound Victor Victrola record index with numerous pages, none of which have been filled in. Some evidence of a minor fold. This index would have been included with the Victrola XX. Finally, a full page color ad from the World's Work Press, depicting the Victrola XX and its list price of $300. Page measures 14.25" x 10" and is in good condition. These 3 items would be a perfect companion to go along with the Victrola XX. Please note also included in this auction is Lot #50, a beautiful original Victrola XX.

Original Victor Pre-1910 Talking Machine Catalog. This amazing original catalog with brightly colored graphics on front and back cover consists of pages numbered 1-32. Catalog chronicles the entire Victor talking machine line at that time. We suspect this catalog is from approx. 1908 however catalog is undated. In particular it describes the Victor Victrola XX, and the Victor Aux-e-to-phone, along with horns, reproducers, needles and records. Covers are nicely attached, with a nice spine and no rust at the staples. A truly amazing and sharp catalog.

Victor Electrola Model VE XVIII Circassian Walnut

Victor Electrola Model VE XVIII Circassian Walnut. This remarkable elegant machine has its original rich golden finish, complementing the highly figured Circassian walnut veneer. This was the top of Victors' standard line introduced in 1915 and only produced until 1916; and according to production data in "Look for the Dog" only 994 Electrolas were produced of this model, even fewer were produced with the additional option of Circassian walnut. This machine with its optional veneer and optional electric motor put it's price at a whopping $400 in 1915. The original Victor electric motor has been tested and runs, and it's electric light has been tested and works as well. However a new power cord needs to be installed. Has original gold plated tone arm, with gold exhibition reproducer. Has original gold Victor needle cup and other original gold trim. Has its original gold plated cabinet knobs, and the original gold Victor cabinet key.. The serpentine cabinet is handsomely appointed with raised moldings and trim along with fully decorated back doors, with the same handsome trim. Nice original condition cabinet with few marks and scratches here and there, see photos. Has 16 original Victor record storage albums. This machine in Circassian walnut in this condition is an absolute gem.

It highlights the set up, operation and care of the Victor Electrola Model XVIII. The nicely illustrated pages number from 1-25, front cover has become detached. Hole punched in the upper left hand corner where the manual was tied with string to the machine when new. This rare and uncommon manual is the perfect companion to go with our Victor Electrola XVIII. It is in its original box with its original liner. The outer box is very fragile in poor condition, however the liner is in better condition, see photos. The other round bulb is approx. 4" in diameter, 60W as per the label on the box; full frosted with a pinched tip. Upon testing did not work. Its original box is in good condition for its age, has its liner, however is missing one of its top cover flaps. Too cool pieces!

Victor/Victrola Model VTLA Circassian Walnut. This extremely rare machine with its exceedingly beautiful highly figured Circassian walnut veneer is one of very few known examples. This cabinet has been professionally refinished some years ago to complement its beautiful veneer. Some marks here and there, see photos. Runs, winds and plays. Has original gold plated tone arm, with correct early support bracket, with large knurled gold plated thumb screw. Original black paint with crisp all original pinstripes. Has original gold round hole reproducer. Has original gold plated bullet brake, correct early gold needle cup and other original gold accessories. Has early fully raised motor deck. Also attached in the inside rear of the cover is a interesting nickel plated dealer tag which reads as follows: "SO. CAL. Music Co., Los Angeles. CAL". The internal horn bears its original patent applied for decal. Has original gold plated cabinet knobs with correct pull out record shelf and accessory drawer. Also has uncommon Victor "wreath" type cabinet key. Machines has 10 original record storage boxes, with all their original gold plated ring pulls and numbered paper dividers bearing patent information April 14, 1908. The original paper licensing label located inside the rear of the cabinet bears the date February 1, 1908. Note of interest: this machine bears serial number 8300. Separately in this auction is a Victrola XX machine , which bears the serial number 8288. This is just a mere 12 numbers that separate these rare and beautiful machines. It is known that the Victor Talking Machine Co. produced high grade or custom machines in groups. There's a real possibility that these 2 machines were on the Victor factory floor at the same time in 1908. Also attached to the inside rear of the cabinet is an interesting paper repair tag from the California Furn. Co. which bears the owners name of "C.H. Stine" , see photos. A unique opportunity to own a stunningly beautiful exceedingly rare Victor in Circassian walnut.

The front mount has been made to fit cabinet by carving out the front molding and adding a spacer in between the mount and the base plate. Machine runs and plays well. Phonograph is as found unrestored condition. Wood support arm possibly has some replacement parts, or metal parts have been heavily cleaned and wire brushed, you be the judge, see photos. Original Victor long throat concert reproducer is missing its' locating pin. Has its original winding crank; motor winds and runs. Motor bed plate has its original well worn oxidized copper finish; please note known examples of the Johnson's Type C typically have a nickel plated bed plate, and a larger knurled speed control knob. This example of this motor bed plate and speed control knob is more in line with what is typically found on the Victor Type R. An oxidized finish bed plate would make this a very rare variant. Missing its record hold down. Original black and brass bell horn has been repainted. Leather elbow original but is dry, brittle and thread is cracked and separating.

Has exceptional original red paint with bold gold pinstriping on both motor bedplate and gear covers. Has original Edison "dolphin" cabinet key. One of the nicest we've ever seen. Rich original oxidized copper finish on Type M 2-4 minute combination reproducer and back elbow. Both styli appear to be in good shape and can be manually flipped. However the 2-4 minute selector knob for the reproducer slips on the shaft. Has both original wooden top grilles. Has nicely intact attractive faux wood graining on internal horn. Motor winds and runs. Has original gold winding crank. Has 4 cylinder storage drawers with original clips. The 100 cylinders shown in the storage drawers are NOT included with the machine, they are being auctioned separately as Lot 120A. However they will be sold separately as a separate lot. An above average example of this hard to find machine. The serial number on the ID plate is 3326, the bed plate serial number is 355. We understand they do not match. The owner purchased this machine from a home over 40 years ago like this, he did not marry them together.

Edison Music Master Oak Horn. Very nice oak cygnet horn has double decal, Music Master and Edison. The bell is in very good shape and has only minor dents. Horn gooseneck has 80% paint. One guide pin is missing from the valve but the gooseneck holds tight without it.

Victor/Victrola Model 130 Circassian Walnut. This elegant machine with its serpentine cabinet has its original rich golden finish, complementing its highly figured Circassian walnut veneer. Handsomely appointed with delicate carvings, has a few marks here and there, see photos. It appears to have had a very old light coat of varnish applied at some time in its past. Has original gold plated tone arm with the gold Victrola #2 reproducer fitted with an interesting record brush. All other trim has original gold plating. Has hard to find original waste needle drawer instead of the typical waste needle cup. Has original gold winding crank. Motor winds, runs and plays. Has its original gold plated cabinet knobs with the correct "bulls-eye" pattern. Has original gold Victor cabinet key. Has16 original Victor record albums. This uncommon machine was introduced in late 1921 and remained in production until 1924. According to "Look for the Dog" production data, only 5200 were made. Another interesting fact in "Look for the Dog" states that they were only available in oak or mahogany, which means this machine was most likely custom ordered. A rare and unusual find in circassian walnut. A real beauty!

This organ was owned by a WWI veteran who lost his limb during the war. He made a living with this organ, raising 2 girls who both went on to college and became school teachers. In the early 1920's, he took this organ to the G. Molinari & Sons company in New York, where he had a new barrel and 8 American tunes pinned. This is an extremely rare organ. German craftsmanship with American tunes. Beautiful case with beautiful inlay. Truly a rare organ.

46 Key Luis Bacigulupi Organ

Built by the great Luis Bacigului, in the West Coast Organ Company, El Monte, CA. Luis Bacigulupi was considered one of the greatest organ builders in the world. He came to American in 1904. He built this organ with his son in the late 1930's and early 1940's. He built this organ for himself but rented it to people in Hollywood and others in his area. You would call him and he would deliver and pick up the organ. Luis was the inventor of the cardboard and roll operated organs. This organ has had stories written about it by the NBSI magazine on at least 2 different occasions as well as by smaller publications. The organ has been in 30-40 and B movies in Hollywood. The most famous movie was Hatari! in 1962, with John Wayne. Henri Mancini was credited as the greatest composer of his time and played this organ in the majority of these movies. He played the tune "Elephant Walk", which was written for Hatari, during the scene where the animals gather at the watering hole. After Luis's death in 1958, the organ was left to his son, Luis Jr. Only a few years later, Luis's health failed. Then he sold it to J. Ward. Mr. Ward created Bullwinkle and was also considered the greatest cartoonist of his time. Mr. Ward played this organ on TV many times on the Howdy Doody and Kukla, Fran and Ollie shows. You cannot find an organ today built with so much craftsmanship with so much history as this great organ. Truly a museum piece that should be shared with everyone. Having the greatest organ builder, the greatest music composer and the greatest cartoonist all a part of one organ. This organ has been in a private collection on the east coast, owned by Dennis Windsor, who's show was mostly history but included his famous monkey, Joey, for the kids. Entertainment for children young and old. Dennis purchased this organ from Mrs. Ward after Mr. Wards death. It was then sent to The Great Canadian Nickelodeon Company where it underwent a total restoration.

Columbia Type AD Home Grand/Combination Grand Cylinder phonograph. A very nice example of a very rare and uncommon phonograph. This model is seldom seen. This machine has its original brown oak finish with its original cover and original handle, and all original ornamental trim is nicely intact. Also the cabinet has both original latches for securing the cover. Has a bold and clear gold banner decal. Few nicks and scratches here and there, see photos. Has its original winding crank. The massive and powerful 6 spring motor winds and runs well. Also included is an original 2-piece cardboard box for the reproducer (which has a torn flap), plainly marked "reproducer". Comes with 1 Columbia indestructible 2-minute cylinder in its original brightly colored box, missing cover. Also included is an original Columbia A-1 aluminum horn, which measures 14"L with a 7.25" diameter bell. At the small end of the horn, near the seam, it is marked "PAT APL'D FOR". Horn has a few dents and dings here and there, see photos. This machine has its original 5" removable aluminum mandrel, which when removed exposes the 2" mandrel. The mandrel drive mechanism has a unique feature that can be raised and lowered as needed, and secured by use of a wing nut depending on the size cylinder to be played. Has original #5 aluminum reproducer with good stylus. The entire upper carriage and transport, and queuing mechanism, is entirely original, is in good working order and moves freely. As is well known among collectors, the above described parts are very fragile and typically broken or missing. These original parts have been carefully restored and stabilized, and brought back to working condition. They shows signs of the typical swelling and crazing, see photos. These parts are not perfect; however the fact that these original parts still exist and have been made to function is remarkable. This is a good honest piece! Follows are excerpts from Howard Hazelcorn's "Columbia Phonograph Companion Volume 1": "This combination model Graphophone appeared in the 1902 Columbia catalog. Like the Type 'AB', this machine was fitted with both a fixed 2" and a removable aluminum 5" mandrel. When the larger mandrel was removed the standard 2" one could be raised up and locked into playing position by the use of a wing-nut that was located on the left side of the chassis. This machine and the Type 'AF' were the only Columbia models to use two separate sets of belt driven pulleys to drive the feed-screw and the mandrel. The all-aluminum chassis came highly polished and featured decorative machinist "jewelling" on the sides. The speed control knob for this model was conveniently placed on the highly nickeled bedplate and though a shaving attachment could be fitted to this machine, none was offered. The power source for this unit was a six-spring motor (in barrels) arranged in two tandem sets of three. This was the same motor utilized in the second style type 'HG'. It is interesting to note that the company then claimed this motor will play nine cylinders per winding and, with the second style 'HG' it claimed fourteen. The cabinet, like the motor, was identical to the second style 'HG'. It offered heavily carved corner columns, recessed side panels framed with rope molding, rope molding trim around the top edge of he motor board and pressed molding along he base. The motor board was hinged to the rear of the cabinet and could be tilted upward to expose the motor for servicing. A gold banner 'The Home Grand Graphophone' decal was placed on the front panel. Original price in 1902 was $75. Note: The author considers this machine to be the 'king' of the Columbia 'A' series. It offered beauty, power and versatility.

Columbia Concert Cylinder Phonograph Type HG

Columbia Concert Cylinder Phonograph Type HG. This is the second style introduced in 1900. Home Grand has a 4.25" mandrill for the 5" concert grand cylinders. This phonograph is in excellent working condition. The original carriage moves freely back and forth. The ears on the original reproducer mount are present but broken and quite possibly were repaired with epoxy but it is stable and operates fine. It also looks like the horn stud of the reproducer mount has had some epoxy work. See photos. Has original reproducer and shaver. Has 95% original pinstripe in oak cabinet which is in beautiful condition and finish. The Home Grand second style featured the deluxe cabinet with pillared corners and extra fancy trim molding. This is a beautiful example of this rare Columbia.

This is a great alternative for a short horn instead of using the large brass horns normally associated with this BC phonograph.

Few marks here and there, see photos. However most of the pinstriping is worn away. Has both original gear covers and original auto stop rod. Has original gold plated winding crank. Motor winds, runs and plays. Has original front grill. Faux grain metal internal horn has approx. 10% paint remaining. Machines of this type with their open leg design did not survive well and as a result intact examples are fairly uncommon. It could use a good cleaning and it is a unusual survivor.

Has original nickel plated, cast iron lower support arm, original cast iron turn table and original felt. No record hold down. Original brake, speed control, and spring housing has original worn nickel plating. Winding crank is most likely a reproduction. Golden oak cabinet appears to have its original finish although appears to have been recoated. Has typical embossed aluminum Berliner ID tag that reads Gram o phone. Motor winds and runs.

Ratchet Wind Front Mount Berliner Phonograph, this scarce phonograph has all original parts including reproducer (believed to be of the Clark Johnson type), horn and older replacement leather elbow. Original wooden tone arm has all of its original hardware. Nickel plating on ratchet is only at 75% showing some wear and rust. Cabinet has its original golden oak finish. Decal on back of machine 15% remains, original felt on turntable is present but needs to be replaced. There is an unusual metal trim/shim underneath the front mount. See photo. Also, one tiny screw hole on top right side of cabinet. Since the original break mechanism is present on the left side, no idea why there is a screw hole on the right side. No record hold down. Has original all black 15" horn with 9-3/4" cone shaped bell. Original black paint with gold pinstripes. Has numerous dents and dings on large end of bell, as well as a few on the body. A good and honest example of a hard to find machine!

Has perfect original grill. Has rare and uncommon option of a pair or heavily hand-carved wooden tone arms in a feather pattern, which are nestled in a beautiful green velvet-lined accessory drawer. See photos. Concept behind 2 separate arms is that one is to be used for "lateral" cut records, and the other "hill and dale" records. The arms are easily detached and changed as needed. Machine winds, runs and plays. Has up and down winding indicator, and 3 original needle cups and cover. Has original gold winding crank and rare original key, see photos. Includes original seldom-seen paper numbered swing-out record storage sleeves with some wear. Has a few marks here and there. Small automatic stop rod missing. This seldom seen machine with this unbelievably rare option originally sold for $500 in 1916. A real treasure.
