15RGRT-300 PAIR HORSEMAN'S PISTOLS

Outstanding pair of 18th Century horseman’s size flintlock pistols converted to percussion and signed “A. Mann” with fancy cast and hand engraved brass mounts with deep engraved and ornamented steel barrels. The pistols measure approximately 20” overall, the barrels measure 13.5” and are approximately .60 caliber smoothbore. The trigger guards show a small panel that is engraved with the initials “F M”; the owner’s plaques mounted in the wrists show a crown with a center panel that is hand engraved with a crown over a shield with three fish intertwined at the center. The butt caps show a small vignette with a single fleur de lis. The balance of the mounts are nicely cast, then hand engraved and chased in scrolls and geometrics; the mounts show good traces of gold gilt. The pistols were originally made ca 1725-1750 and show a good conversion to percussion about 1830 with the hammers engraved to match the lock plates at time of conversion. The barrels show floral engraving on the breech extending approximately 3.75” down the barrel. The

The barrel and ¾ length magazine retain the majority of their blue finish with sharp edges and some light scratches. The receiver shows significant flaking blue finish with the remainder going to brown patina. A period Lyman aperture sight has been added at the tang. The smooth wood stock is in very good condition with small mars and compressions consistent with field use. The butt stock ends with a smooth, steel crescent butt plate which also shows considerable original blue finish. The hammer and trigger show old, muted case hardening. The checkered wood medallion grips are in just fair condition showing heavy use with mars, flattening of checkering and a half inch chip missing at the base of the left grip panel. Lot of two custom Anza fixed blade knives. The first is marked, “ANZA USA 11 KKM” on top of the full-tang construction. This knife was custom made by Kelly McGee in 2011, who has since left Anza. The knife is 7 ½” in total length with a 3 ½” hollow ground blade made from a double cut Nicholson file. The scales are polished Dymond wood with two brass pins. The second knife is an Anza Bird and Trout by Jon How. The knife is 7 ½” in total length with a 3 ¾” blade made from a Nicholson file. The full tang handle features Cognac Dymond wood scales and is marked, “ANZA USA 15”. Both knives are brand new, never been sharpened and include custom, Anza marked leather sheaths. Falchon style broadsword from Mideast to North Africa circa 19th century and earlier. Measures 30” overall with a 24” blade. The blade measures 2” and flares to almost 5” at the end. The blade shows upside down crosses and thin construction typical of North Africa. The guard is nicely forged in European style with decorative faces on the cross guard. Forged rings on the grip and wire wrap. The grip appears somewhat earlier that the blade. The estate of Dennis Tupper. Fair condition with rust and pitting. The grip wrap is unraveling. Winchester Model 1897 pump shotgun, 12 gauge, Serial #209068. The shotgun is in good overall condition with a barrel that has been shortened to 20” in length. The metal surfaces retain a considerable amount of their muted blue finish with areas of flaking finish and light surface rust on the receiver. The smooth wood stocks are in good condition with mars and compressions consistent with carry and use. The butt stock features a round knob pistol grip and ends with a hard rubber, Winchester marked butt plate. The bore is good, the action crisp and markings are sharp on this desirable Model 1897 which had its barrel shortened to riot length during the period of use. Est.: $250-$500. (C+R).
