This well shaped Montell was recovered in Kerr County, Texas.  It was made from Edwards Plateau Chert during the latter portion of the Archaic Period 3,000 to 4,500 years ago.  It is in excellent condition and measures 2 in long and 1 2/16 in wide.  This Point grades a solid 8 grade.

Both of these Kays points are about the same size and received a Grade 8.  The gray one was recovered in Tulsa County, Oklahoma and the black one was found in Kentucky and was made from Fort Payne Chert.  It measures 1 13/16 in long and is 1 4/16 in wide.  The gray one was made from Boone Chert and is 1 15/16 in long and is 1 3/16 in wide.  These types of Points were made and used from the Mid-Archaic to the early Woodland Periods 2,000 to 5,000 years ago.

This is a nicely formed Big Sandy that was found in Clark County, Kentucky several years ago.  It was made from Boyles Chert during the Archaic Period. This one would grade an 8 to 8.5 and measures 2 2/16 in long and 1 in wide.  This small to medium size side notch Point was made and used for almost 7,000 years of the Archaic times in the Southeastern United States.

This pretty Motley Point was recovered from Meigs County, Tennessee. It would grade a 7.5 to an 8. It was made from a high-quality Dover Chert during the Late Archaic to early Woodland Periods 2500 to 4500 years ago. The Point measures 2 10/16 in long and is 1 1/16 in wide. This was another fairly common point from the Southeastern U.S.

This was a very large Dickson used as a Spearpoint. The tip was fractured when discovered and has been expertly restored. Baker graded it a solid 8 after the repair. The Spearpoint was discovered in Union County, Ohio. It measures 4 8/16 in long and the width is 2 4/16 in. The Dickson was neatly made using Mercer Chert and is estimated to be 1,500 to 2,500 years old.

This is the only other Point in the Auction that had some restoration done. When found about 2/16 in of the tip was missing and the past owner had it professionally restored. The Black Obsidian Side Notch was recovered in Oregon. It?s an Ex-Jim Bennett Collection and from there it went to the D.W. Brooks Collection. Now its here ready for the next lucky owner. I say lucky because it is a beautiful well-made Point. It measures 3 in long and is 1 4/16 in wide. Baker graded it a very conservative 8. The winning bidder will be well pleased with this Gem of an Artifact from the Northwest. The Point was made and used in the early Archaic Period. Note: Has two COAs.

In this case we have a dark reddish-brown Chert 1 1/2 in Folsom Point from El Paso County.  Also, a nice Midland Point from Wise County.  On the far right there is an Angostura from Comanche County. Also, a small drill above it. Bottom right is Black Flint Paleo Palm Knife from Calhoun County and far left is an Early Stemmed Lanceolate from Parker County.  The 4 5/8 in Snap Base Knife was recovered from Bexar County as well as the Shaft Straightener. The Folsom Point is fluted all the way to the tip on one side and about 30 to 35% on the other side.  All eight Artifacts are in excellent condition.

The Etley Spear points and Knifes were made and used towards the end of the Archaic Period 2,500 to 4,000 years ago. Obviously, this long Blade was attached to some kind of handle and used as a Knife. The sharpening signs on one side reveals this. This Knife was recovered from St. Louis County, Missouri. The maker used a high- quality Burlington Chert and did a fine job. The Blade measures 5 2/16 in long and is 1 4/16 in inches wide. It grades a strong 8.5 and has a fantastic patina and appearance.

The Clovis and Sandia Points are the oldest known man made Points in the Western Hemisphere. The Clovis was made 10,600 to 11,500 years ago and many have been discovered near Mastodon kill sites. This one was recovered in Putnam County, Indiana. It was made from Crescent Quarry Flint and grades a 9. It is fluted about 40% on one side and is unfluted on the other. The point measures 3 8/16 in long and is 1 3/16 in wide.

Some have now been found in West Texas. This one is 4 in long and 1 ... in wide. It was made from High Plains Chert and was more than likely one of the first Knives used in North America. This Artifact along with several others in this collection has 2 COAs. One appraiser saw this as a Dovetail and the other as a Hopewell. I am leaning towards a Hopewell. I?ve never seen a Dovetail this wide but it is from the right location for both types so it could possibly be a hybrid. This big Spear Point was made from Heat-treated Burlington Chert. The brown, white, red, and maroon pinkish colors are tremendously beautiful. The Point was recovered from St. Louis County, Missouri. It is 6 5/8 inches long and 2 7/8 inches wide. The G-10+ rating is the first I?ve ever seen on a Hopewell. This Point is most likely a mid-Archaic one. It is definitely one of a kind.

The Spear Point is 6 inches long and is 1 11/16 inches wide. It is a true Gem.

This Cumberland was made from a high quality Burlington Chert and measures 5 inches long and is 1 9/16 inches wide. This is a solid Grade 9 Point.

The two long Points could have been used as knifes. 20 years ago you could find these African Neolithic Point types commonly at Arrowhead and Fossil Shows but now this type is mostly found in even smaller forms or with broken ears and tips. This Giant Spear Point was recovered in Pickaway County, Ohio. Although this Point does show some signs of use, we believe that it was probably used more as a ceremonial show piece instead of a tool for hunting, working, or even war. It has fantastic shape and measures 7 1/8 inches long and 2 5/8 inches wide. The Spear Point is named for the Hopewell Culture that designed it. This one was made from Zaleski Flint and definitely is one pf the finest Spear Points ever made. The Hopewell is a Woodland Period Artifact and this one is from the Ex-Bill Wertz collection. This Point is special because it has earned a G-10+ rating and also because its Huge. This is a Collectors dream and it would fit well in a Museum also.

We believe this Giant Lost Lake Spear Point to be one of the Top 2 or 3 best Spear Points ever made by Primitive Man in North America.  The Lost Lake is an Early Archaic Point that was made and used in the Southeastern States 6,000 to 9,000 years ago.  It is a very popular Artifact with Collectors and this one is certainly one of a kind. This Point was displayed at a Natural History Museum until its closing a few years ago.  It was recovered from Greene County, Missouri and was made from Burlington Chert.  The Point measures 7 5/16 inches long and is 2 8/16 inches wide.  This Spear Point like the Hopewell, was most likely used for ceremonial purposes and shows very little wear.

Points like this were probably commonplace at that time. This one was recovered in Oklahoma and was made from Boone Chert. A good size one at 5 ... inches long and 1 ... inches wide, this one is as nice as they come. A very rare G-10+ grade make this Point one of the finest ever found.
