But please understand, if you win a coin and receive it and send it out to one of the grading companies and it comes back graded less than I estimated or "genuine but Ungradeable", we will not buy back that coin. We received this incredible consignment from a private collector. The consignee gave us his father's entire estate hoard of shotgun rolled coins.

It was the darkest days of World War II, just after Pearl Harbor. Everybody in Hawaii was sitting on pins and needles. Were the Japanese preparing a massive invasion of the islands? If they did invade, they could use the millions of dollars in currency on the islands to buy war material. To thwart this, these $1 Federal Reserve Notes were sent to the islands. Each has a large HAWAII printed on the reverse. If the Japanese did invade, the currency would be demonetized. After the threat passed, most of these "Hawaii" Notes were destroyed. Today they're hard to find.

The Two ends showing are the obverse of a 1884, which looks ms64/65, and the other end has a 's' San Fransisco Mint Reverse, also looking ms64/65. The roll is held in an old "Steel Strong Automatic" Wrapper Dated from 1921. The Roll is also faintly stamped "Banker Trust of Philadelphia, Central City Office, Walnut Street at Juniper". I researched that name and the Bank closed in the post-Crash of '29 Depression period (my research showed that it failed on Dec 22, 1930). We received this incredible consignment from a private collector while at the Baltimore show. The consignee gave us his father's entire estate hoard of shotgun rolled coins. We have had great feedback on the rolls so far. Your choice to open the shotgun roll or leave it as is, but if you do open the Roll, please let us know what you find. This note features the familiar portrait of Abraham Lincoln that was used on all of our $5 bills through 1999, and the back shows the Lincoln Memorial. This note does not have the familiar "In God We Trust" motto above the Memorial, though, as that motto was not added until 1957. The Blue Seal is large and at right; a large blue "5" dominates the left side of the note.

When notes are discovered that have been printed incorrectly (such as having the serial numbers upside down, etc.) the misprinted "error notes" are replaced with star notes because no two bills within a certain series can be produced with the same serial number. They are used to maintain a correct count of notes in a serial number run. By their nature, star notes are more scarce than notes with standard serial numbers and as such are widely collected by numismatists. Some of the highest prices paid for modern (post-1928) U.S. banknotes have been for star notes. The note itself is a Silver Certificate. Silver Certificates were redeemable in Silver. One of their most distinctive qualities is the blue Treasury seal and serial numbers. These notes include an additional legend printed on the face that is not present on any other Federal Reserve notes. The legend states that Silver had been deposited in the Treasury and was payable on demand to the note’s bearer.

The most common block is the AA block, the IA, JA, KA, and LA blocks also exist, and these are scarcer. The lowest serial number notes were presented to important officials in Washington DC. These were given out in sheets of 12. There are still some uncut sheets that exist. All 1928 one dollar silver certificate notes feature a portrait of George Washington at center and a blue seal on the left hand side of the note. All 1928 $1 silver certificates are known as “funnybacks.” They get this name from their distinctive back design.

The roll is a solid carson city roll, and Sandi and I guarantee that all 20 coins are cc mint coins. Therefore since we can see one end is an 1879, the roll contains at least one 1879-cc, WOW! The Blue Seal is large and at right; a large blue "10" dominates the left side of the note.

The 1916-D Mercury Dime is the true key date of the series. The coin has a mintage of just 264,000 pieces, which makes it the lowest of the series. It also represents the only coin of the entire series that had a mintage below the one million mark. The entire mintage was struck during November 1916. At the end of the month, it was decided that the Denver Mint should focus production on quarters to fulfill a large order from the Treasury Department. The production of all other denominations was suspended through the end of the year. As a result of these circumstances, the Denver Mint’s production of 264,000 dimes became the final mintage.

From the feedback we have received, the rolls are filled with a mixture of 1800's and 1900's. The folks who have gotten them have also said that they are better than average circulated condition and all nice Indian cents. All of the shotgun rolls we currently have up are from One Consignee's Estate. A difficult to find original roll. This particular Roll shows an 1895 on one end and an 1897 on the other end.

Great Original Roll of Morgan and Peace Dollars. The Two ends are covered. Any dates and any condition possible inside. Note you will receive a roll completely similar to the photo. We have a large hoard of these rolls and they all look exactly alike. We have had great feedback on the rolls so far. Some lucky bidders have gotten key dates and PL's. The roll is held in an old "Steel Strong Automatic" Wrapper Dated from 1921. The Roll is also faintly stamped "Banker Trust of Philadelphia, Central City Office, Walnut Street at Juniper". I researched that name and the Bank closed in the post-Crash of '29 Depression period (my research showed that it failed on Dec 22, 1930). We received this incredible consignment from a private collector. The consignee gave us his father's entire estate hoard of shotgun rolled coins.
