SN 178416, 4th model safety DA revolver in the original box. MFG 1898-1907, Revolver is .38 caliber and has a 3 1/4" barrel with rusty bore. It has the "lemon squeezer" safety feature on back strap. The gun was in top condition when it was improperly stored. There is surface rust and loss to the blue finish. The gun will not break open and is rusted in place. The action works somewhat, and should benefit from oiling. The hard rubber S&W monogram grips are excellent The gun should clean up better. Includes rare original matching box. Good-Very Good*

Smith brass-barreled Blunderbuss, circa. late 18th-early 19th century. Was orignally a flintlock and was converted to percussion in the mid 19th century. Walnut stock with engraved brass fittings, lockplate marked Smith, brass round barrel with proof marks on the left side of the breech. Action works well, and spring bayonet releases as it should. Barrel is 14" and overall the gun is 29 1/2". Stock has some dings and handling marks. The ram rod is contemporary. Very Good

Confederate Pike spearhead that according to family descendents was picked up from the Shiloh battlefield shortly after the battle by Private Frederick Slade of Company D, 64th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. While the 64th Ohio Infantry arrived on the field of Shiloh too late too be engaged in the battle he nevertheless souvenired this spearhead. The pike was eventually transported back home, according to family history, on the back of a supply wagon. This non excavated example is in fine condition, completely of local Confederate manufacture and made with a desirable "bridle cutter" hook. very good

The sword resembles a scaled down version of the French model 1816 artillery sword. The sword has cast brass fish scale grip with a rooster (cock) on both sides of pommel. The quillon has a flower decoration on each side. The double fullered blade is 17 1/4" long and 1 1/4" wide at ricasso. The balde is quite nice with scattered minor patina and light pitting. The blade may have been shortened at one time. The leather has both brass mounts and split stitching. The frog stud is broken off and the leather was sliced to allow attachment to a belt. The chape has denting. 22 1/4". Very Good-Excellent

Interesting brass hilt short sword or bowie knife with original leather scabbard brought home from the Philippines during the Spanish American War. The sword / knife appears to be mid 18th century, but has H.G. Martin Manila PI, Aug, 13, 1898, on one side of grip and May 1 1898 KV on the other side. The first battle between American and Spanish forces was at Manila Bay where, on May 1, Commodore George Dewey, commanding the US Navy's Asiatic Squadron aboard USS Olympia, in a matter of hours defeated a Spanish squadron under Admiral Patricio Montojo. On August 13, 1898 Manilla fell to U.S. troops. 21" overall with 15 1/2" clipped point blade that is 1 3/4" wide at hilt. Blade has scattered pitting, staining and patina. Leather scabbard has wear and damage, but retains original brass throat and chape. A wonderful souvenir sword/knife with soldiers name and 2 significant events noted. Very Good

This model sword was the insperation for the U.S. Model 1833 Artillery short sword. The leather scabbard is contemporary copy of the original. Excellent

This is a German theatrical sword. Produced by Hugo Baruch who was the premier manufacturer of theatrical items in Berlin, Germany during the 1920's and 1930's. His company was in business until Hitler closed it down because Hugo was of Jewish heritage. The sword has a solid brass cast hilt 22 1/2" blunted blade. The markings "Hugo Baruch & Cie Commandit Gesellschaft Berlin C" are stamped to one side. The are numerous edge nicks on the edges. The original scabbard is brass bound wood. It shows wear and is missing some adornments. Very Good

These swords were carried by specialist pioneer troops who were responsible for clearing undergrowth and building defences . This type of sword was designed with a heavy blade for utility work. 24" overall with 18 3/4" blade that is 1 14" at ricasso. Blade is unfullered. Brass guard is marked 102.R.4.71. Leather scabbard shows wear and flaking to finish. Scabbard has shrunk some, nd the sword does not fit all the way in. Mounts are brass and the throat is marked and has a oval frog stud. The chape is loose. Very Good

Included is a medallion for the final reunion of the Lafayette Flying Corps held in 1983, a 1929 copy of "High Adventure, a Narrative of Air Fighting in France, and Porter's Buchanan High School Note Book of notes and drawings. Accompanying this is a letter of provenance written by the individual who obtained them directly from Porter's estate. very good.

M1852 Naval sword with a beautifully etched blade. The etchings on one side consist of an eagle perched on a cannon barrel, an anchor, a scroll with “U.S.N.” and a sword knot tied in the shape of a square knot. The opposite side has the name “C. O. Ward” etched near the ricasso. Forward of this are an anchor with US shield and a circle of 16 five-pointed stars. The maker’s name etched in the ricasso is “J. A. FREDK. HORR, PHILA. PA.” Horr is a known maker of Navy swords from about 1905 to the 1930’s. The blade is 11/16" wide at the ricasso. The leather washer at the ricasso is 100% intact. The scabbard is engraved "COW" (Ward's initials). The top 5" of the leather scabbard is missing. very good.

The newspaper predicts that James would be acquitted, which in fact he was. Paper is in excellent condition with minor edge wear but otherwise very stable. excellent.
