1927-p Peace Dollar $1 Grades Select Unc Lot #49 (Sale Order 49 of 695) 1927-p Peace Dollar $1 Grades Select Unc. The 27-p is the big sleeper of numismatics in my opinion. It has the 2nd lowest mintage in the whole Peace dollar series. Lower than the 34-s, the 21-p, yet it does not command its proper value. Good coin to own multiple of and save, in my opinion, but if you've been coming to our auctions for a while you will have seen that this has always been my opinion. 0

This note features the familiar portrait of Abraham Lincoln that was used on all of our $5 bills through 1999, and the back shows the Lincoln Memorial. ***Auction Highlight*** Morgan dollar roll ends 1881 & 'cc', Better than average circ (fc) Lot #60.5 (Sale Order 61 of 695) ***Auction Highlight*** Morgan dollar roll ends 1881 & 'cc', Better than average circ. 0 Great Original Roll of Morgan Dollars. The roll is held in an old "Steel Strong Automatic" Wrapper Dated from 1921. The Roll is also faintly stamped "Banker Trust of Philadelphia, Central City Office, Walnut Street at Juniper". I researched that name and the Bank closed in the post-Crash of '29 Depression period (my research showed that it failed on Dec 22, 1930). The Two ends showing are the obverse of an 1881 and the other end has a 'cc' Carson City Mint Reverse. We received this incredible consignment from a private collector while at the Baltimore show. The consignee gave us his father's entire estate hoard of shotgun rolled coins. We have had great feedback on the rolls so far. Your choice to open the shotgun roll or leave it as is, but if you do open the Roll, please let us know what you find. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away lot.

It was the darkest days of World War II, just after Pearl Harbor. Everybody in Hawaii was sitting on pins and needles. Were the Japanese preparing a massive invasion of the islands? If they did invade, they could use the millions of dollars in currency on the islands to buy war material. To thwart this, these $1 Federal Reserve Notes were sent to the islands. Each has a large HAWAII printed on the reverse. If the Japanese did invade, the currency would be demonetized. After the threat passed, most of these "Hawaii" Notes were destroyed. Today they're hard to find.

I researched that name and the Bank closed in the post-Crash of '29 Depression period (my research showed that it failed on Dec 22, 1930). We received this incredible consignment from a private collector. The consignee gave us his father's entire estate hoard of shotgun rolled coins.

1927-p Peace Dollar $1 Grades Select Unc Lot #145 (Sale Order 150 of 695) 1927-p Peace Dollar $1 Grades Select Unc. 0

They were a substitute for Large Copper Cents. Dr. Feuchtwanger made them out of German Silver (which is nickel, copper and zinc). The obverse depicts Feuchtwanger's favored motif, an eagle with serpent in its talons. The reverse states 'One Cent' surrounded by a wreath, further surrounded by 'Feuchtwanger's Composition'. They are widely collected with Large Cent coins and are a great piece of historical Americana.

It was the darkest days of World War II, just after Pearl Harbor. Were the Nazis under Field Marshall Rommel preparing a massive push through North Africa? If they did, and succedded, they could use the millions of dollars in currency the seized to buy war material. To thwart this, these Silver Certificates were sent to North Africa. Each has a yellow seal on the front. If the Nazis did succeed to over run our expeditiary force, the currency would be demonetized. After the threat passed, most of these "North Africa" Notes were destroyed. Today they're hard to find.

The Roll is marked 1896-o and the Two ends showing are the obverse of an 1896, and the other end has an 'o' New Orleans Mint Reverse. Sandi and I guarantee that all 20 coins are key date 1896-o Morgans. We received this incredible consignment from a private collector while at the Baltimore show. The consignee gave us his father's entire estate hoard of shotgun rolled coins. Your choice to open the shotgun roll or leave it as is, but if you do open the Roll, please let us know what you find. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away lot.

Series 1934, signatures Julian-Morgenthau. This note features the familiar portrait of Alexander Hamilton that was used on all of our $10 bills through 1999, and the back shows the US Treasury. This note does not have the familiar "In God We Trust" motto above the US Treasury, though, as that motto was not added until 1957. The Blue Seal is large and at right; a large blue "10" dominates the left side of the note.

1871 Indian Cent 1c Grades g+ Lot #285 (Sale Order 302 of 695) 1871 Indian Cent 1c Grades g+. Quoting PCGS :"The 1871 Indian Cent is one of the lowest mintage issues of the series. In fact, from 1859 - 1876 it is the lowest mintage coin in the Indian Cent series. What's even worse is that during the early 1870's the Mint was melting a lot of previously issued cents, including many 1871 cents. Making the coin become scarcer. A semi key date to the series with possibly about 5,000 examples in existence in all grades combined." 0

***Auction Highlight*** Incredible Find, Unc Morgan $1 Shotgun Roll w/1889 & cc mint ends (fc) Lot #300.5 (Sale Order 321 of 695) ***Auction Highlight*** Incredible Find, Uncirculated Morgan $1 Shotgun Roll w/1889 & cc mint ends . 0 Great Original Brilliant Uncirculated Roll of Morgan Dollars. The Two ends showing are the obverse of a 1889, which looks ms64, and the other end has a 'cc' Carson City Mint Reverse, also looking ms64.

1927-p Peace Dollar $1 Grades Select Unc Lot #337 (Sale Order 361 of 695) 1927-p Peace Dollar $1 Grades Select Unc. 0

1932-d Washington Quarter 25c Grades vf++ (fc) Lot #353 (Sale Order 378 of 695) 1932-d Washington Quarter 25c Grades vf++. According to David Hall, from PCGS The 1932-D is by far the rarest of the Washington quarters. There are only two Washington quarters with mintages of under one million coins. The 1932-D has an original mintage of 436,800. This coin has been highly sought after in all grades for the past 60 years. This is one of the key dates of the Washington quarter series and one of the better known rare coins of the twentieth century. Very scarce Key Date. This is the key date to the seies, even more scarce than the 1932-s. Scarce in all grades. 0

1934D $5 Blue Seal Silver Certificate Grades vf++ Lot #354 (Sale Order 379 of 695) 1934D $5 Blue Seal Silver Certificate Grades vf++. 0 This lot is for a great example of the $5 Blue Seal Silver Certificate. Series 1934D, signatures Clarke-Snyder, KL#1655, FR#1654. Grades Choice CU. This note features the familiar portrait of Abraham Lincoln that was used on all of our $5 bills through 1999, and the back shows the Lincoln Memorial. This note does not have the familiar "In God We Trust" motto above the Memorial, though, as that motto was not added until 1957. The Blue Seal is large and at right; a large blue "5" dominates the left side of the note.

The Two ends showing are the obverse of an 1879 that's near unc, and the other end has a 'cc' Carson City Mint Reverse. We received this incredible consignment from a private collector while at the Baltimore show. The consignee gave us his father's entire estate hoard of shotgun rolled coins. Points to check for wear include Lincoln’s Cheekbone, Jaw, Eyebrow and the Hair Above His Ear. On the Reverse, examine the Eagle’s Breast Feathers and the Grass Beneath its Left Claw.

This is a sealed double mint set. I can't tell from the outer envelope what the year is. We measured the height of the envelope with a caliper and compared it to other years with 2 or 3 cardboard inners and this one definitely has 3 inner cardboards. That would mean it could be any year from 1947-1955 as all of them had 3 inners. Remember there was no 1950 mint set made. Since it is still sealed it most likely has pretty toning. You won't know until or if you open in. Have fun and good luck.

This was the last large-size U.S. $1 bill. This note was so large that it was known as a ‘horse blanket’. This Silver certificate features a blue Treasury seal and blue serial numbers on the front. When the note was issued in the 1920’s each $1 silver cert was backed by an actual Morgan or Peace Silver Dollar in the U.S. Treasury. The bearer of the note could, by law, exchange it on demand at the Treasury for the Silver Dollar.

1934 $10 Blue Seal Silver Certificate Signatures Julian/Morgenthau Grades vf++ Lot #452 (Sale Order 485 of 695) 1934 $10 Blue Seal Silver Certificate Signatures Julian/Morgenthau Grades vf++. 0 This lot is for a great example of the $10 Blue Seal Silver Certificate.

1927-p Peace Dollar $1 Grades Select Unc Lot #457 (Sale Order 490 of 695) 1927-p Peace Dollar $1 Grades Select Unc. 0

The 1932-D has an original mintage of 436,800. This coin has been highly sought after in all grades for the past 60 years. 1871 Indian Cent 1c Grades f, fine (fc) Lot #466 (Sale Order 500 of 695) 1871 Indian Cent 1c Grades f, fine.

Very scarce. With an original mintage of over 13.5 million; PCGS estimates that only 4000 survive in all grades. 0

The Two ends showing are the obverse of a 1879, which looks ms64, and the other end has a 'cc' Carson City Mint Reverse, also looking ms64.

1934A $10 Silver Certificate North Africa Mule Note, Signatures of Julian/Morgenthau Grades vf++ Lot #483 (Sale Order 519 of 695) 1934A $10 Silver Certificate North Africa Mule Note, Signatures of Julian/Morgenthau Grades vf++. 0 1934a $10 Silver Certificate North Africa, Signatures of Julian & Morgenthau. This is a 'Mule Note'.

1927-p Peace Dollar $1 Grades Select+ Unc (fc) Lot #529 (Sale Order 569 of 695) 1927-p Peace Dollar $1 Grades Select+ Unc. 0

***Auction Highlight*** Incredible Find, Unc Morgan $1 Shotgun Roll w/1879 & cc mint ends (fc) Lot #540.5 (Sale Order 581 of 695) ***Auction Highlight*** Incredible Find, Uncirculated Morgan $1 Shotgun Roll w/1879 & cc mint ends . 0 Great Original Brilliant Uncirculated Roll of Morgan Dollars. The Two ends showing are the obverse of a 1879, which looks ms64, and the other end has a 'cc' Carson City Mint Reverse, also looking ms64.

1914 $10 Federal Reserve Note St. Louis 8H Grades xf (fc) Lot #546 (Sale Order 587 of 695) 1914 $10 Federal Reserve Note St. Louis 8H Grades xf. 0 1914 $10 Federal Reserve Note, Chicago, Blue Seal, Signatures Burke-Houston grades vf++. KL#482, FR#931. Teddy Roosevelt inspired gold coins with iconic American images, and this first-ever 1914 $10 Federal Reserve note did the same thing for paper money. The reverse features farming and industry, the two drivers of the economy at the time. The farmers are using real 'horsepower,' and the factory symbolizes American power and ingenuity. This classic note is rarely seen and makes a great addition to any collection. Check out the bold blue Federal Reserve Bank seal on the front. These are part of the last series of large-size 'horseblanket' notes.

***Auction Highlight*** 1928 $10 Gold Certificate Woods/Mellon Grades vf++ (fc) Lot #594 (Sale Order 640 of 695) ***Auction Highlight*** 1928 $10 Gold Certificate Woods/Mellon Grades vf++. 0 Alexander Hamilton is the central subject of this scarce $10 gold note, issued because of a change in the size of United States currency beginning with all series dated 1928. This change in the size of America’s currency came about from a study that had determined that printing smaller currency would save the government a hefty amount of money in production cost. Because of the nature of gold certificates – each one accompanied the deposit of gold coins – they are somewhat scarce to begin with, as gold is far more scarce than silver. Add to that the decision to drop the gold standard by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1933, thus making owning gold coin (or notes promising gold coin) illegal, and you end up with a series of notes that was printed, then recalled less than six years after their initial issue. Many of the notes were destroyed when turned in, and few of them survived. Fortunately for collectors, the restriction for owning gold certificates as collectibles was repealed by Treasury Secretary C. Douglas Dillon in 1964, but the damage had been done to the stockpiles of said notes. Not many remain of the millions that had originally been issued prior to the depression.
