US Navy Arleigh Burke Fleet Trophy Lot #2254 (Sale Order 254 of 276) United States Navy Arleigh Burke Fleet Trophy being a large heavy gilded bronze plaque measuring 24" x 13.75" featuring bust portrait of Burke in uniform. Plaque is signed under portrait by artist "H. De Bells 1962". Lower portion of obverse of plaque shows evidence of loss of information plate. Reverse of plaque at lower portion shows title "U.S.S. Vulcan AR-5". The Arleigh Burke Fleet Trophy is presented annually to the ship or aviation squadron in both the Pacific and Atlantic that has achieved the greatest improvement during the previous year based on the Battle Efficiency competition. The USS Vulcan (AR-5)was the lead ship of her class of repair ships of the United States Navy. The ship was launched in 1940, serving until 1991 and was then scrapped in 2006.
