His former home, Hampton Plantation, is a state operated park and is open to the public. Rutledge’s notable descendents to name only a couple include two former South Carolina governors (his grandfathers) and a signer of the Declaration of Independence.

Gass was a sergeant on the expedition and as such was one of the persons charged by Jefferson with keeping a diary of events. Front cover detached but present, library withdrawn, the front marbled end pages are chipped, text generally very good. Gass lived in Washington County PA as well as Brooke County, WV and some of his descendants still reside in the area.

Cummings navigated the Ohio, Mississippi, and Missouri rivers, taking notes and readings. Field #1690 states- "Of this scarce book, very few copies are complete or in good condition. Having been issued in a remote corner of Northwestern Virginia, and designed principally for a local circulation, almost every copy was read by a country fire-side until scarcely legible. Most of the copies lack the table of contents. The author took great pains to be authentic, and his chronicles are considered by Western antiquarians, to form the best collection of frontier life and Indian warfare, that has been printed".

History Of George III, 4 Vols Lot #407 (Sale Order 415 of 444) HISTORY OF THE REIGN OF GEORGE 111 TO THE TERMINATION OF THE LATE WAR, In Four Volumes, Bisset, Robert, A New Edition (the second edition), Levis & Weaver, Philadelphia,1810,1811. (Sabin has the 4th volume printed in Baltimore). Sabin notes “it contains much relating to the Stamp Act and the American Revolution.” Each volume has “Franklin Society” in ink on the title page except vol 111 where it is written on the top of the first page. The Franklin Society was a literary society of Jefferson College in Canonsburg before the 2 schools joined in 1865? Rebound in leather with new end pages, library withdrawn from Washington and Jefferson College long ago. The title page is missing from volume 111. Some foxing and toning of pages throughout.
