Austrian M-1849 Kammerbuchse Sword Socket Bayonet Lot #1002 (Sale Order 3 of 194) DESCRIPTION: Made in Austria. Circa 1849-60s. Designed to be used as either a bayonet or a sword, depending on the need. It was used on a carbine or short-rifle, not a full-length musket. Locking ring functions fine. Blade length: 22-1/2". Civil War Ames Model 1860 US Navy Cutlass Sword Lot #1006 (Sale Order 7 of 194) DESCRIPTION: Undated. Serial number 20M282 (marked on crossguard). Marked USN with anchor along with inspector's initials "DR" on ricasso. Daniel Reynolds (initials DR) was responsible for inspecting a substantial amount (if not all) of the model M1860 cutlasses produced at Ames Manufacturing Company. His initials can also be found on the pommel. Sword is also marked with the desirable Ames scroll trademark on reverse side of ricasso. Blade length: 25-7/8". Overall length: 31-5/8". USN M1917 Naval Boarding Cutlass Lot #1009 (Sale Order 10 of 194) DESCRIPTION: Vintage World War I era manufactured item. Stamped USN on the blued blade, having the distinctive falchion shaped blade with double edge clipped point and broad runnel, japanned steel hilt with a full half basket cup, black all-wood crisscross grip. Blade length: 25". Overall length: 30". ADDITONAL INFORMATION: The design was based on the Dutch Netherlands Klewang Cutlass model M1898-M1911. This was the first time that the US Navy manufactured its own cutlass and it is believed that the production took place at the Navy Yard either in New York or Boston. It was the last Official Naval Cutlass authorized for use as a personal weapon. There is no record of it being issued to any ship, and an unknown quantity were produced. CONDITION: Good. Areas of rust on the blade and hand guard. Comes with original black leather scabbard. MEASUREMENTS: Overall length: 30" ESTIMATE: $200-$300

US Model 1918 Trench knife by LF&C Lot #1015 (Sale Order 16 of 194) DESCRIPTION: Original era manufactured. Model 1918 by Landers, Frary, & Clark. Landers, Frary and Clark also made an assortment of other products such as household metal products and knives for the Boy Scouts. The brass knuckle handle is marked "US 1918 L F & C 1918." The matching steel scabbard is marked "L F & C 1918." “Skull-crusher” at bottom. Measures 12-3/4" long overall. The double edged steel blade measures 6-3/8". Scabbard only measures 7-1/8". CONDITION: Good. Several contact marks on blade's edge. Scratches on the blade. Most of the black finish is gone from the bronze handle. Patina on handle. MEASUREMENTS: 12-3/4" ESTIMATE: $200-$400

WWI Purple Heart, Original Letter & Shrapnel Lot #1026 (Sale Order 27 of 194) DESCRIPTION: Original numbered WWI Purple Heart medal, with Sergeant Baker’s name engraved on the back. These were not issued until the 1930’s and only if the vet requested one. The original letter, dated 1936, from the adjutant general’s office accompanies the medal. Also in the grouping is the actual piece of shrapnel that hit Sgt. Baker in 1918 with a note indicating that it was "In Argonee piece of German 75 shell which was in David's head from ~5pm Sept 14, 1914to between 4 am & 5am next morning.". The box also includes his sergeant’s stripes with an AEF pin, his Meuse Argonne campaign medal, and a large “For God & Country” American Legion School Award medal and pin. Rare German Book--The German Way, 1935 Lot #1042 (Sale Order 43 of 194) DESCRIPTION: This scarce volume, Der Deutsche Weg, was published first in 1933 and lays out many of Hitler’s viewpoints. This copy was printed in 1935 in Leipzig. In German. The 1935 edition adds material to the first edition taken from Hitler’s speeches and notes from 1933 to 1935. Rare Hitler Portrait & Hitler Youth 1938 Document Lot #1043 (Sale Order 44 of 194) DESCRIPTION: Famous photo of Hitler, intended to honor the Hitler Youth (Hitler Jugend.) Produced in 1943. On the reverse are two photos showing construction projects during the war. Also in this lot is a very scarce Hitler Youth document from the grand birthday celebration on April 20, 1938, when the youth corps honored Hitler. Signed by J.M. USAF Archive of Lieutenant Colonel Winsor Harlow Lot #1168 (Sale Order 169 of 194) DESCRIPTION: Archive of Lieutenant Colonel Winsor Harlow, United States Air Force who flew for his country in WWI thorugh The Korean War. Includes seven Pilot's Log Books including civilian and military flights dating from June 11, 1927 through May 23, 1949. Logs document instruction, licensure flight on November 20, 1928 (Massachusetts state license number 17), private and commercial flights as well as military examination flights and mission flights. Official military flight records date from 0931 through 1961. Also included in the archive are the Lieutenant Colonel's dress uniform with insignia, two pairs of pants, belt, service cap, and dress hat. Five sterling aviator badges are present. Documents include United State Air corps appointment and identification card, transfer papers, and retirement orders. Photographs include photos of the young Harlow in private aircraft and formal military photos of Harlow and others. Medals include Air Medal Reserve Armed Forces, National Defense, Korean Service, American Campaign, and World War II.
