Handsome Cole Agee Cattle Brands engraved, Colt Single Action Army, .45 caliber Revolver, SN 11419SA Lot #1 (Sale Order 1 of 306) Handsome Cole Agee Cattle Brands engraved, Colt Single Action Army, .45 caliber Revolver, SN 11419SA, manufactured 1957 as a .45 caliber with a 5 1/2†barrel. It is believed to have been engraved by master engraver, the late Cole Agee with full coverage of many different cattle brands to include King Ranch, XIT, Pitch Fork, 101, with the signature Cole Agee “2 (lazy 2) P†brand on the top of the backstrap, and others, finished in full nickel plating. The stag grips fit very well and are extremely thick. This handsome revolver is in excellent condition and comes in a crushed velvet lined case made of cherry and birch wood with a stylized Colt insignia on the lid. ( King Collection) (MOD).

Handsome antique Colt Single Action Army Revolver, .45 caliber with checkered ivory grips. SN 104040 Lot #14 (Sale Order 14 of 306) Handsome antique Colt Single Action Army Revolver, .45 caliber with checkered ivory grips. SN 104040 matches on the frame, trigger guard and backstrap. Based on the serial number, it was manufactured in 1884. The 7 1/2†barrel has a very nice bore and a readable address with some light, peppery pitting covering parts. The action functions flawlessly. There are strong traces of original blue finish. There is a provision for a lanyard ring in the bottom of the grip frame but the ring and base are missing. The checkered ivory grips have a pleasing mellow color and beautiful age checkering throughout. There is a very old, worn chip on the back, left corner. The grips fit very well and were likely installed when the gun was new. (King Collection)

SN 64234 matches on the frame, trigger guard and backstrap with the last four digits on the cylinder. Based on the serial number, it was manufactured in 1881. The barrel address is sharp and clear as is the 3 line patent dates on the frame. The .45 CAL is marked clearly on the front trigger guard bow. There are scattered dings and minor pitting present mostly on the barrel and cylinder. The worn checkered ivory grips have a nice, aged color and are slightly undersized. The bore is good and the action functions properly. (King Collection)

Deluxe, Factory Engraved Winchester, Model 1894, Short Rifle Lightweight Takedown in .30 WCF caliber Lot #18 (Sale Order 18 of 306) Deluxe, Factory Engraved Winchester, Model 1894, Short Rifle Lightweight Takedown in .30 WCF caliber. SN 753306 was manufactured in 1914 with at least 9 special features including; engraved, shotgun butt, rubber butt plate, takedown, 22" barrel, tapered barrel, fancy wood, checkered stocks and tang sight. These features add up to an extremely scarce lever action Winchester Rifle. The condition is excellent, retaining nearly all of the restored blue finish and high gloss varnish. The action functions properly and the bore is bright. The engraving is sharp and includes coverage on the frame, forend cap and takedown band. The shorter than standard forend wood correctly measures 8 1/2". (King Collection) (MOD)

Beautiful engraved antique Colt SAA with carved ivory grips, SN 178157 was manufactured in 1898 and Lot #19 (Sale Order 19 of 306) Beautiful engraved antique Colt SAA with carved ivory grips, SN 178157 was manufactured in 1898 and is .44/40 caliber with a 4 3/4" barrel with carved snake and eagle grips. The serial number matches on the frame, trigger guard and backstrap. The frame number has Colt stamped over it. The gun has been beautifully engraved in a Helfricht style pattern and finished in nickel. The finish is 100% and the gun has not been fired since the work was completed. The screw heads are finished in a bright niter blue and add to the beautiful appearance of this fine gun. All of the factory applied markings are clear and sharp. The Rampant Colt has been engraved over. The action functions properly and the bore is very good. (King Collection)

The action functions in single action and double action but the trigger return spring is weak, bore is good. Outstanding antique Colt SAA, .45 caliber Revolver, SN 59482 is confirmed by the accompanying Colt A Lot #33 (Sale Order 33 of 306) Outstanding antique Colt SAA, .45 caliber Revolver, SN 59482 is confirmed by the accompanying Colt Archive Letter as a .45 caliber with blue finish shipped to Hartley & Graham in New York on November 5, 1880. The barrel length and stocks are "Not Listed" which is an indication that they were the standard barrel length of 7 1/2" and the standard stocks of wood. The serial numbers match on the barrel, trigger guard and backstrap. The action is perfect and the bore is very good. There is a substantial amount of blue finish remaining along with strong and vivid case hardening colors on frame. The wood stocks fit perfectly and retain most of their varnish. After researching the paper work to this Revolver we find it once was in the collection of avid collector Jack Slaughter, notes read it was purchased new in Waco, TX., most likely from Ambold Gun & Pistols by a Robert McDaniels. Note states it remained in his family until it was sold in 2010. H.E. Ambold was in Waco between 1878-1892. They were dealers in firearms and were located at 457 Austin Ave., Waco, TX.

An elaborately engraved pair of Colt SAA Revolvers, SN 165061 matches on the frame, trigger guard an Lot #36 (Sale Order 36 of 306) An elaborately engraved pair of Colt SAA Revolvers, SN 165061 matches on the frame, trigger guard and back strap. This revolver is a .38 WCF caliber with a 4 3/4" barrel manufactured in 1896. The action functions properly and the bore is very good. The second Revolver is SN 344576 (MOD) and indicates manufacture in 1923. This revolver is a .32 WCF caliber with a 5 1/2" barrel. The action works properly and the bore is very good. The deep floral engraving pattern is nearly identical on both revolvers and they are both finished in full blue. Both revolvers have finely engraved heavy silver grips with an Indian chief facing rearward on both sides. They are accompanied by a 2005 letter stating they were purchased in the 1950s by John Speakes who was the legal Attaché for the American Embassy in Mexico City. The letter also states these Revolvers were once owned by a Mexican Cowboy movie actor Pedro Infante. The Colts come with a beautiful, deep floral relief carved, double Buscadero Rig with three gold overlaid silver buckles and tips all marked "Ricardo." The letter is described by serial number. Pedro Infante Cruz (Nov. 18, 1917- April 15, 1957), better known as Pedro Infante was a Mexican actor and singer. He was hailed as one of the greatest actors of the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. Beautiful, Cased engraved "Freedom Colt", SAA Revolver, SN 85168SA is a .45 caliber, 7 1/2" revolver Lot #52 (Sale Order 52 of 306) Beautiful, Cased engraved "Freedom Colt", SAA Revolver, SN 85168SA is a .45 caliber, 7 1/2" revolver manufactured in 1977 and was subsequently engraved by master engraver Dwain Wright. It commemorates President Abraham Lincoln and has a raised bust of his likeness on the left side recoil shield with an image of his signature engraved on the bottom of the grip strap. Engraved on the top of the back strap is "No 3 of 20". The ivory grips have a carved Federal Eagle with a banner and shield and is very finely painted, signed at lower right on grips "Wright '77", also signed on opposite grip. The Presidential Seal is shown in a medallion on each side of the grips and on the inside lid of the presentation case. The case is lined with blue crushed velvet and includes six primed .45 caliber brass cartridge casings. The revolver is fully silver plated and accented in fire blue screws and other small parts. There are minor toning colors on various parts of the silver finish. All of the factory applied markings are clear and sharp. The action is flawless and the bore is bright. The beautiful wood display case has pearl inlaid borders and accents. (King Collection) (MOD).

Beautifully engraved matched pair of Second Generation Colt SAA Revolvers, engraved by master engrav Lot #68 (Sale Order 69 of 306) Beautifully engraved matched pair of Second Generation Colt SAA Revolvers, engraved by master engraver Dan Cullity, consecutively numbered, silver plated. Colt factory records disclose that SN's 60977SA / 60978SA were shipped as a pair of .45 caliber guns with 4 3/4" barrels, blue finish and rubber stocks, to Pete's Gun Shop, Falmouth, MA., c/o William Harvey on November 19, 1971. Pete's Gun Shop and Dan Cullity's shop were located near each other and it is known that Mr. Harvey and Mr. Cullity were close friends. W. Dan Cullity was a Colt Factory Master Engraver for several years during the 1960s and early 1970s. Conversation with Mr. Cullity disclosed that these two Colts were the last work he did for Colt on special commission after he retired from Colt. The engraving is very well executed floral vines and scrolls and is perfectly matched on both revolvers. Each is fitted with beautifully colored and nicely grained one piece ivory stocks. They are finished in full silver plate which has just started toning with rainbow colors. The revolvers remain unfired with only a very faint turn line around the cylinders. Each has a raised gold shield on the top of the back strap with the stylized Colt "C" in the center of the shield. The SN's appear on the bottom of the frames, on the left sides of the front and back straps with the last two digits of the numbers in the butt strap channels of the grips. The left side of the front straps are engraved "-WDC-", initials for W. Dan Cullity as he marked all of the guns engraved by him. The last three digits of the SNs appear on the bottom of the barrels under the ejector housing guard on the faces of the cylinders. This is a special pair of revolvers. Saddle horn has a beautiful raised Buffalo Head horn cap. E.H. Bohlin's well known rodeo performers can be found in15 different locations on this saddle. Saddle has 25" engraved sterling mounted tapaderos, full mounted engraved sterling breast plate with 10 sterling mounted drops, full mounted engraved sterling serape and full mounted engraved sterling tail cover, has engraved sterling mounted bridle and matching romal reins with 11" popper. Revolvers both have been nickel plated to match with some of the factory applied markings removed during this process. SN 127180, manufactured 1888, numbers match on trigger guard, backstrap and cylinder, SN 148784, manufactured 1892, numbers match on the frame, trigger guard and back strap with back strap engraved "TO LOUIE FROM THE RED RIDERS 6-18-34" , believed to be presented from the cast of the 1934 movie starring Buck Jones, to the director, Lew Landers (as Lois Friedlander) which is indicated by the raised gold "F" on each grip. Extremely scarce Bohlin Engraved Gold plated Colt SAA in Presentation Case, SN 197126, manufactured Lot #85 (Sale Order 87 of 306) Extremely scarce Bohlin Engraved Gold plated Colt SAA in Presentation Case, SN 197126, manufactured 1900, numbers match on frame, trigger guard and back strap, a first generation Colt, .45 caliber with a 4 3/4" barrel, that has been profusely engraved by Edward H. Bohlin of Hollywood, California and is stamped with the Bohlin shop's trademark on both sides under the Bohlin carved Buffalo head grips marked "E.H.B." for Edward H. Bohlin, inside. The Revolver is inscribed on the backstrap " 1861-KANSAS CENTENNIAL-1961" to commemorate 100 years of Kansas statehood. The beautiful engraving covers nearly all metal surfaces, the gold plating is nearly 100% with very minor wear on a couple of high edges. This outstanding revolver comes in a custom made clear presentation case that displays the revolver in a vertical manner and has a beautiful burgundy velvet lining on the base with gold accented accoutrements, including 2 screwdrivers, a patch rod, patch box and a gold plated oiler and 6 inert bullets. His personal Spurs, #101, "McChesney Special" Pattern from the Nocona-McChesney Era, with full silver mounted heel band, beautiful hand engraving and sunset engraved 2 1/4" rowels. These spurs have Bohlin type two piece straps with silver buttons, 2" raised engraved Conchos and matching gold and silver three piece buckle sets with inset rubies. This rare one of a kind pair will be sold with a folder of documentation, which was researched and assembled by spur expert Bruce Bartlett of San Antonio. Documentation shows time and place of purchase and the last seven owners to have owned these spurs with the eighth owner being Buddy King. The unbroken chain of ownership begins with Will Rogers (1934-1935), who purchased these spurs in El Paso, Texas in 1934 from what we believe to be the S.D. Myers Stockman Stores, the largest and most prestigious in El Paso. The next owner was George MacGregor (1935-1973), Don Schoffield (1973-1995), Bill Lockridge (1995-2001), Brad Watts (2001-2009), Bruce Bartlett (2009-2009), Buddy King (2009-2019). Documentation will also include two actual letters, one from George P. MacGregor and one from Donald Schoffield. These spurs will be sold on an oak and marble Spur Stand and will be accompanied by a 9 1/2" x 12" plaque with the etched image of Will Rogers, and a book titled "Will Rogers". Will Rogers was a cowboy and showman of world renown and one of the most gifted and famous trick ropers of all time. One of his sayings was "I Never Met A Man I Didn't Like". Custom built by the factory for early legendary Western, Hollywood actor Tom Mix who performed on the silver screen from 1909-1935. Tom Mix (1880-1940). SPECIAL NOTE: It is documented that Tom Mix was a pall bearer for Wyatt Earp. The initials "T" over "M" on the bottom of the trigger guard. This shotgun is a 12 gauge side by side, 30" barrel, SN T13493, F/F, factory engraved, target model with auto ejectors, ventilated rib, beaver tail forend and presentation grade checkered wood. The barrels are blue and the frame is color case hardened. There is a Pheasant engraved on the right side of the frame and a raised Gold Flying Duck on the left side. This may be the finest Iver Johnson Shotgun ever made. Accompanied by letters from well known collectors Roger Jack and Ray Brazille. The pearl grips were likely installed by Wolf & Klar and fit well, all factory applied markings are clear and sharp, action functions properly and the bore is very fine. Beautiful antique, New York engraved Colt SAA Revolver with carved Buffalo Grips, SN 68466, matches Lot #140 (Sale Order 142 of 306) Beautiful antique, New York engraved Colt SAA Revolver with carved Buffalo Grips, SN 68466, matches on the frame and trigger guard with no number visible on the back strap. The accompanying factory letter and many other documents confirm this revolver as part of the April 1, 1881 first shipment of guns shipped "Soft" for engraving outside of the factory. Hartley & Graham along with other New York distributors ordered guns that had not been case hardened or finished to make them less expensive and easier to engrave. Originally a .44/40 caliber, the barrel and cylinder have been replaced with .38 WCF during a factory restoration as is indicated by the asterisk on the right rear trigger guard bow and the assembly (bin) numbers visible on the loading gate arm, face of the cylinder, inside the grip frame and on the barrel under the ejector housing, barrel and cylinder have engraving that appears to be factory applied during the restoration, other modifications include a marble front sight and a replacement hammer modified to accommodate an adjustable v-notch rear sight. The beautiful ivory grips fit well, are of the same age as the revolver and have been adorned with 7 gemstones and a Yellowstone Park medallion, scarce carved buffalo head has ruby colored eyes. All of the factory applied markings are clear and sharp, retains nearly all of the Colt applied nickel finish with only minor loss on the top of the frame, action functions properly and the bore is very good, incredible Wild West look. It is labeled inside the top, "Dunlap & Co.", and is approximately 6 7/8 size. This Top Hat is in extremely sound condition, leather sweat band is missing as with most hats of this age. This hat was worn by Sul Ross as Governor of Texas and would date from 1890-1910. Some of the accomplishments of Sul Ross: The 19th Gov. of Texas; As a Confederate General he fought in 135 battles; Was Sheriff of McLennan County; His family started the city of Waco, which was a frontier stop; Indian fighter, he was severely wounded in battle with the Comanche Indians; Rescued Cynthia Ann Parker, mother of Quanah Parker, from the Comanche Indians; Attended Baylor University; Became a Texas Ranger; Two terms as Texas Senator; When the School of Texas Agriculture and Mechanics was about to close he took over and saved what is known today as Texas A&M University; First Governor to bring a surplus to the Texas Treasury; Dedicated the Capital Building in Austin; He died at the age of 59. This circa 1880s revolver is designed to have two purposes. It fires directly from the 6-shot cylinder. The cylinder pin has right hand threads that were later changed due to the early model with right hand threads that came unscrewed as the cylinder rotated during firing. The brass frame is factory engraved. The 6" Dirk was added during its original period of use by removing the safety and pinning the dirk in place. This early example has the frame marking "MY FRIEND" marked on the left side of the frame below the cylinder and has the old style right hand threads on the cylinder pin. The action functions properly.

The cylinder pin has left hand threads that were changed from the early model with right hand threads that came unscrewed as the cylinder rotated during firing. The brass frame is factory engraved and retains strong traces of the original silver finish. The revolver is SN 16362. The side of the top strap of the frame is marked "MY FRIEND" with patent dates. The action functions but needs adjustment.

Fantastic and rare Deluxe Cased Colt, 1855 First Model Sporting Rifle. An extremely rare example of Lot #175 (Sale Order 178 of 306) Fantastic and rare Deluxe Cased Colt, 1855 First Model Sporting Rifle. An extremely rare example of a Colt, 1855 "First Model" Sporting Rifle with English style factory case. The .36 caliber rifle has blue finish on the barrel, frame, barrel bands, cylinder, trigger guard and butt plate. The loading lever and hammer have a case hardened finish. The stock is highly figured walnut with the unique patent oiler on the left side of the barrel and a brass forearm cap. The trigger guard has a sling swivel at the lower end. A sling swivel is also fitted to the lower barrel band. The barrel is part octagon / part round and has a dove tailed front sight. The rear sight is mounted on the top strap of the frame and has a v-notched arm that rotates on the base for elevation. The six-shot cylinder is stamped with a deer hunting scene and marked "COLT'S PATENT / SPORTING RIFLE" in two lines. The trigger guard has a finger-spur in front and in back of the iron trigger hole. The iron crescent butt plate has a sliding trap door for a brass cleaning rod. The rifle is fitted for an iron cleaning rod but the rod is missing. The top barrel flat is roll-stamped: "COLT'S PATENT / 1856" in two lines and "ADDRESS COL. COLT / HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." in two lines. The serial number "350" is marked on the bottom of the frame, the cylinder, the lower tang, and the butt plate. The number "50" is marked on the loading lever plunger. The action functions properly in half cock and full cock. The rifle comes in its original English style oak case. The case interior is lined with green felt and has 11 compartments. The case contains a brass double cavity bullet mold with an iron spruce cutter, a tin of rifle patches and an Ely Bros. tin of percussion caps with a green paper label that states they were: "Made expressly for "COLT'S PT / REPEATING / RIFLES". Accompanying this set is a laminated page from the Rock Island Auction Company catalog where this rifle and case sold in December 2009 with the following description of condition; "The rifle retains approximately half of the original blue and case hardened finish. Nearly 90% of the blue is present on the barrel and bands. The frame has about 60% of the original finish. The upper tangs, trigger guard and butt plate have a silver patina with traces of blue in protected areas. The cylinder has a gray patina and retains most of the roll-engraved deer hunting scene and patent markings; there is moderate flash pitting on the front and rear of the cylinder. The hammer and loading lever have approximately 70% of the original case colors. The patent oiler has a gray patina with traces of blue finish in protected areas. The highly figured walnut stock is in very fine condition and retains at least 85% of the "piano finish" varnish and scattered light handling marks. The forearm is in fine condition with 90% or more of the varnish finish but has a hairline crack in the loading lever channel. The barrel legend, cylinder engraving and serial numbers are crisp. The case is in very good condition; the exterior shows the usual storage marks but has no damage or repairs. The case interior is in fine condition; the green felt lining has faded slightly and has some minor compression marks and oil stains. There is one minor tear and a larger oil stain in the lid opposite the location of the cylinder and hammer. The patch and cap tins are in fine condition. The brass bullet mold has numerous small dents in the sides of the blocks and some rust on the iron spruce cutter near the "COLT'S / PATENT" marking. This is a very fine example of an extremely rare Colt 1855 First Model Sporting Rifle with transitional wooden forearm. Robert Sutherland / R.L. The top of the frame has a relief carved, raised decorative gesso panel with raised 2 1/8" high lettering reading "TRADE U.M.C. MARK" and the bottom " THE UNION METALLIC CARTRIDGE CO.". Display features every Cartridge UMC manufactured from the BB Cap to 1" Gatlin Cartridge and 20 lead Bullets of various calibers. Nicely arranged around a diamond in the center of the Board that has a painted mountain scene with elk. The cartridges are in categories from "RIM-FIRE", "CENTRAL FIRE PISTOL", "SPORTING and MILITARY". The bottom has a display of paper and brass shotgun shells, exploder shells and friction cannon primers. flanking a separately boxed display of percussion caps, primers and gun wads. At the bottom reads "FACTORY BRIDGEPORT, CONN.,USA / GOVERNMENT and CONTRACTS / STORES: NEW YORK and SAN FRANCISCO". This superb e Lot #178 (Sale Order 181 of 306) Outstanding Colt Lightning large frame Express Short Rifle, extremely high condition. This superb example of a large frame Colt, slide action rifle is in a very scarce configuration with 20" barrel in a .50-95-300 caliber, manufactured in 1891, SN 5317. The rifle is accompanied by a Colt Factory Letter which confirms the caliber, barrel configuration, and shipment as a part of a 10-gun order to the London Agency on March 16, 1891. This rifle is chambered for the .50-95 Winchester Express cartridge and has a special order 20" round barrel. Under remarks the Colt Historian stated; "Although the records do not contain a notation indicating the firearm was shipped as a Carbine model, they do note a 20" barrel length, shorter barrel lengths are usually associated with the Carbine models." The rifle has a rifle style butt plate confirming it to be a short rifle rather than a Carbine. Most of the high polished blue finish remains, including the niter blue trigger and loading gate. The hammer is color case hardened. The walnut stock and forearm are oil finished; the forearm is checkered. The barrel has a nickel silver front sight blade and adjustable buck horn style rear sight. British commercial proof and inspection marks are stamped on the left side of the barrel and frame. The factory applied markings are clear and sharp. With less than 6500 large frame Colt Lightning Rifles manufactured, this may be one of only 10 ever produced in this configuration. (King Collection)

This is an absolutely original octagon barrel rifle that has the look that all collectors want. The brass frame has that beautiful dark rich mustard patina. The barrel markings are faint as usual and partially obscured by roughness but is mostly readable. The original flip up 900 yard ladder sight is in very good condition. The front sight is a brass blade sight. This could be considered a Deluxe Rifle due to the fancy wood stocks and factory sling swivels. The added screws in the upper tang are extended from removal of a tang sight. The brass second style butt plate has the same untouched patina as the frame and has a trap door in the bottom for a cleaning rod. (King Collection)

Beautiful Winchester with a 28" octagonal barrel and a shiny, bright bore. SN 129489 was manufactured in 1903. The factory applied markings are clear and readable. There is a presentation shield inlaid in the bottom of the buttstock that reads "MARVIN / ROUTAN / DAYTON / O". The rifle has a brass butt plate with the makers name "JOHN OBERLIES / DAYTON, O", who was a well known gunsmith in the 1920s and 1930s. The light weight configuration includes a tapered round barrel, a 2/3 length magazine, SN 132707 was manufactured in 1904 and remains in excellent condition. The frame has a high percentage of original blue. The 22" barrel and 2/3 tube has over 90% original blue finish with a semi-buck horn rear sight and a blade front sight. The action functions flawlessly and the bore is bright and shiny. The lever and hammer have strong traces of case colors present. The steel shotgun butt plate is in good condition and the wood stocks are very good with normal, minimal bumps and dings. (MOD)

Extremely fine antique oak Tantalus (Liquor & Gambler's Cabinet) has a beautiful silver engraved pre Lot #187 (Sale Order 190 of 306) Extremely fine antique oak Tantalus (Liquor & Gambler's Cabinet) has a beautiful silver engraved presentation shield with eagle crest that reads "PRESENTED TO MAJOR F.W. BENTEEN, A GALLANT OFFICER AND SOLDIER WHO SERVED HIS COUNTRY WELL FROM YOUR FRIENDS IN THE U.S. CAVALRY / JULY 7, 1888." Fredrick Wm. Benteen (1834-1898), he was 63 years of age. According to history this was given to him possibly as a retirement gift from friends. He served with the Union Army during the Civil War, and was later assigned to the 7th Cavalry Regiment and its field commander LT. Col. George Armstrong Custer. This Tantalus will be accompanied by copies of Major Benteen's biography. His remains lie in the Arlington Cemetery. This fine quality quarter sawn oak Tantalus has a lift top, folding front that reveals three crystal Decanters with ground glass stoppers and four silver stems. Tantalus has compartments that include cards and gambling items, folding front also has a pull out pistol drawer that has an early S&W .32 caliber, Double Action, 4th Model, 5-shot Revolver, manufactured 1883-1909, silver finish with back strap engraved "Major F.W. Benteen" and period, raised carved Mother of Pearl grips with eagle & shield, SN 238526. Tantalus measures 15" wide x 11" deep x 13 1/2" tall. (King Collection)

The front sight is a standard blade with an ivory bead, wood has been sanded and refinished and has a nice appearance. (MOD)

The barrel and tube retain virtually all of the original blue finish and strong crisp markings. The sights are standard rear ladder and front blade, the bore is like new. The frame retains some thin blue, turning brown. The lever has visible case colors that have turned dark. The wood fits perfectly and is in excellent original condition. The carbine butt plate has engraving around the top and bottom screws and has "Two Shots" engraved in between. The significance of this inscription is not known but one could conjure up a few possible scenarios. (MOD)

Historical inscribed Colt, 1878, Double Action Revolver, "Presented To An eagle that soars, Irving W Lot #221 (Sale Order 226 of 306) Historical inscribed Colt, 1878, Double Action Revolver, "Presented To An eagle that soars, Irving Woodworth / From his friends and deputies, Always." This revolver once belonged to Sheriff Irving Woodworth, Kent County, Michigan. SN 6795 is profusely engraved and inscribed and has a gold wire inlay circling the inscription. This Colt was manufactured in 1881 and is a .45 caliber with a 5 3/4" barrel and a German silver front sight. The round inspection cover on the left side has the afore mentioned inscription and is extremely well executed with high quality engraving and tight floral scrolls. The ivory grips have a soaring eagle carved on the right side and a carved decorative border on both sides. Irving Woodworth was the sheriff of Kent County Michigan from 1895-1900. Accompanying this Colt is an early framed photograph of Sheriff Woodworth, his son in his lap and many of his deputies, as well as several copied documents that tell the Sheriff's history. The action functions properly with some looseness. The bore is good. (King Collection)

The butt plate is checkered steel. There is a high percentage of remaining nickel finish. The wood fits very well to the frame and has an oiled finish. The action works properly and the bore is fair. The shotgun is accompanied by a letter from the daughter of the previous owner who was an Adams Express employee. Included is a photo of the daughter in her younger years. The shotgun and a large amount of money was stolen from his office by another employee. There is also included an original Adams Express wanted poster picturing the thief and offering a reward for his capture. The letter speaks of his capture and the return of the Winchester. This Winchester is SN 2 Lot #234 (Sale Order 239 of 306) Beautiful engraved Winchester, 1873 Saddle Ring Carbine in .44 WCF caliber. This Winchester is SN 225241B which indicates manufacture in 1887. The barrel is a standard 20" round type with a good bore, clear markings and a standard carbine flip up ladder rear sight. The front sight is a brass blade style. The wood stocks are worn with minor age cracking which adds to the overall character. The engraving is deep relief scroll engraving that includes a cowboy mounted on horseback in a circle on the left side plate. The right side plate has a majestic bull engraved in the center of a circle with mountains in the background. The elaborate style engraving on the frame, dust cover, both barrel bands, the bottom of the elevator and the top of the rifle style butt plate, including the slide.

In 1964, Texas Ranger Captain Clint Peoples presented me with this Badge. He stated that he had used it as a prototype to get permission from Colonel Homer Garrison to change the Ranger Badge from the type being used prior to 1961, which resembled a Texas Highway Patrolman Badge. After Colonel Garrison's approval the Rangers were issued badges made from the silver 50 Peso Mexican Coin. Captain Peoples did not use the coin on this prototype and it is unique and one of a kind. The Rangers have worn this type of badge since 1961. Robert E. Davis." The late Robert E. (Bob) Davis was well known Waco and Texas Historian. This Badge will be accompanied by an uncirculated copy of the Book titled "CAPTAIN CLINT PEOPLES / TEXAS RANGER / Fifty Years A Lawman", by James M. Day. Historical Texas Ranger M.T. "Lone Wolf" Gonzaullas pair of Smith & Wesson M&P Revolvers with "Capta Lot #236 (Sale Order 242 of 306) Historical Texas Ranger M.T. "Lone Wolf" Gonzaullas pair of Smith & Wesson M&P Revolvers with "Captain M.T. Gonzaullas, Texas Ranger" engraved on the back straps. This matched pair of Smith & Wessons, SN 436466 & SN 585308 are .38 S&W Special Cartridge with nickel finish and beautiful, high relief buffalo carved pearl grips with one revolver carved on the right hand grip and the other carved on the left grip. They are in excellent condition with very minor chips on one of the pair. They come with a beautiful floral carved, Buscadero style jock strap, double Holster Rig made by S.D. Meyers, El Paso, Texas, from the same period. Both Holsters are maker marked on the front and the Belt is marked under the Buckle. The sterling silver buckle and tip are marked "Vogt". Manuel T. Gonzaullas entered the Texas Rangers service in 1920 and served until his retirement in 1951. He is one of the best known and respected Texas Rangers in modern history. The Revolvers and Holster Rig are reported to have been given to "Lone Wolf" Gonzaullas as a birthday gift from the family of a murder victim in a case solved by Ranger Gonzaullas. Also accompanying these Revolvers is a framed image of Ranger Gonzaullas with a short history on the front. Verso is a business card belonging to David G. Raney with a note inscribed "To Chick Davis..." David Raney was a Licensed Polygraph Examiner in Houston, Texas. The late Chick Davis was a very well known and prominent collector of fine firearms. Included in this is also a Book titled "Captain M.T. Gonzaullas / LONE WOLF / The Only Texas Ranger Captain of Spanish Descent", by Brownson Malsch. (King Collection) (MOD)

"Bob" Crowder's Engraved Colt, .38 Super Automatic Pistol with Belt and Holster Rig. Accompanied by a Colt Archive Letter listing SN 10396 as a .38 Super with a 5" barrel and blue finish in a 1 gun shipment to Stauffer, Eshelman and Company on February 3, 1931. This historic Colt .38 Super was owned and used by Texas Ranger Bob Crowder. It was custom built for him to include profusely etched engraving with nickel finish and fitted with steer horn grips, inlaid with silver and abalone (now missing a few small pieces). The initials "BC" are included in the engraving on the top of the slide. Also accompanying this Pistol is a custom Belt with double buckles, Holster and 2 double magazine holders, all made from Alligator skin. In addition this set is accompanied by a 9 page letter from noted author and Colt expert R.L. Wilson where he describes the rarity and importance of this Pistol. This is a truly special, one of a kind Texas Ranger Pistol and Rig. According to R.L. Wilsons report the engraving on this Pistol was done by Master Engraver Rudolph J. This unique Revolving Shotgun holds four 12 Ga. shells in its round carrier which ejects one shell and rotates another into position with each hammer pull. The trigger launches the bolt which loads the shell in the chamber and fires it. The 28" barrel is in good condition with a threaded shroud at the muzzle for an attachment. The bore is fair with moderate roughness. The loading gate on top of the carrier is marked "Roper Sporting Arms Co. / Hartford, Conn. / Pat. April 10, 1866. July 14, 1868." Overall very good condition with very minor dings in the wood. Minor hair line crack on the left side of the stock that does not transfer through to the other side. Metal is in good condition and the action functions properly. Serial Number is 376. This Shotgun is considered fairly scarce among collectors. (King Collection)

Rare and well documented tooled leather Belt once belonging to Texas Ranger and early Marshal of Aus Lot #242 (Sale Order 248 of 306) Rare and well documented tooled leather Belt once belonging to Texas Ranger and early Marshal of Austin, Texas, Ben Thompson (1843-1884), occupation gunfighter, gambler and lawman. He was a contemporary of Buffalo Bill Cody, Bat Masterson, John Wesley Hardin and Wild Bill Hickok, some of whom considered him a friend, others an enemy. He was active as a lawman from 1868-1884. Ben Thompson was killed in a pistol duel while attempting to clean out a group of gamblers in "SanAntone". This well known and historic Belt will be accompanied by a letter dated March 15,1918 signed by a Will W. Cloon stating the facts of this belt and how it was retrieved from a pawn shop in San Antonio. Belt measures 2" wide x 56" overall length, with unique silver and gold buckle, conchos, double silver tip and double keepers. Several framed images accompany this as well as a fragile newspaper article, and a unique framed oil on canvas painting of Ben Thompson appearing to be wearing this Belt. (King Collection)

Extremely rare and one of a kind Artifact, a well documented pair of early Iron Hand Cuffs, made by Lot #243 (Sale Order 249 of 306) Extremely rare and one of a kind Artifact, a well documented pair of early Iron Hand Cuffs, made by "TOWERS". These cuffs will be accompanied by an actual Time Book from Minnesota State Prison and a letter dated July 1, 1925 stating these hand cuffs were worn by Cole Younger, the famous bank robber and bandit. These cuffs were used in taking him to Stillwater, Minnesota State Penitentiary for life imprisonment after being captured during one of the last raids of the James Boys Gang at Northfield, Minnesota. The cuffs were given to "Ford, The Penologist King" in Vaudeville, by Henry Wolfer, Warden of the above named institution in 1910, who in turn has presented them to his old friend John Loftus for his Antique Shop in Flint, Michigan. Signed "Ford, The Penologist King". July 1st,1925". The Time Book was keeping time of prisoners in 1882-1883. Cole (T.C.), and brothers Jim and Bob Younger's name was found at least 17 different times on the roster of prisoners. Bob Younger died in prison in 1889, brother Jim was pardoned in 1901 and committed suicide in 1902. T.C. (Cole) Younger was pardoned in 1901 and died in 1916. (King Collection)

Extremely rare and historical Presentation Folding Bowie / Dirk, circa 1830s-40s, maker marked on ri Lot #244 (Sale Order 250 of 306) Extremely rare and historical Presentation Folding Bowie / Dirk, circa 1830s-40s, maker marked on ricasso " W (crown) R, James, Rodgers, Justly, Celebrated, Dirk". Dirk measures 17" overall with a 12" spear point , lock back blade when open and 6 1/2" when closed. Grip has mother of pearl panels secured with four pins. Bowie has incredible presentation deeply engraved in the blade on one side "JOHN B. DADE, WASHINGTON CITY, AUGUST 16, 1842", other side has "PRESENTED BY JOHN TYLER". The escutcheon plate on the grip also has engraved on it "JNO TYLER TO J.B. DADE". John B. Dade was warden of the penitentiary at the District of Colombia when John Tyler was the 10th President of the U.S., from 1841-1845. Overall condition is good with no cracks or chips to the mother of pearl; blade exhibits an overall dark patina with minor pitting. One pin at guard securing blade may have been replaced, blade locks up tight when open but is slightly loose when closed. Bowie / Dirk comes with the original sheath that has been covered with leather and a later period presentation box with ribbon showing John Tyler picture. This Bowie / Dirk was examined by a previous President of the National Bowie Knife Association, Tommy Knox who wrote his findings here. (King Collection)

Interesting 1830s-1840s Short Sword that is 23" overall in length with a 17 3/4" single edge, slight Lot #245 (Sale Order 251 of 306) Interesting 1830s-1840s Short Sword that is 23" overall in length with a 17 3/4" single edge, slightly dropped point blade. Grip is made of iron with two horn washers. Sword is the style of a Mexican Espada ancha and is a classic Texas Southwest carried weapon. This particular example has an interesting etching on both sides of the blade "Republic of Texas 1836" and a five point Texas Star on the other. The etching is done in a similar style to period swords of that time frame and may have been a war trophy of the period. Original leather sheath of the Mexican Short Sword is included. The period cased set includes the stocked lever action frame, two matching barrel assemblies, period bore brush and keys. The barrels are chambered in .303-Savage and .250-3000 Savage. The engraved frame, lever, takedown caps and release mechanisms are all gold plated. There is a tang sight mounted on the frame and sight blanks mounted in the rear sight s on both barrels. All original, Civil War U.S. 1860, Colt Army Revolver, .44 caliber with 8" barrel, notched for a sho Lot #269 (Sale Order 275 of 306) All original, Civil War U.S. 1860, Colt Army Revolver, .44 caliber with 8" barrel, notched for a shoulder stock. SN 116528 was manufactured 1863 and likely saw service in the Civil War. The serial number matches on the barrel, frame, trigger guard and back strap with the last four digits on the cylinder and the matching wedge. There is no finish remaining. The barrel and frame markings are clear and sharp. The grips fit well and are original to the revolver with strong signs of inspector cartouches on both sides. It comes in a felt lined, modern case with a period correct bullet mold and cap tin. There is a hand written letter in the box that describes other colorful events that this Colt was a part of and is signed by C.H. Cashman, Killeen, Texas.

Original, Civil War U.S. 1860, Colt Army Revolver, .44 caliber with 8" barrel and notched for a shou Lot #270 (Sale Order 276 of 306) Original, Civil War U.S. 1860, Colt Army Revolver, .44 caliber with 8" barrel and notched for a shoulder stock. SN 118789 was manufactured in 1863 and saw service in the Civil War, according to the accompanying documents. The serial number matches on the barrel, frame, trigger guard and back strap with no numbers visible on the cylinder or wedge. There is no finish remaining. The barrel and frame markings are mostly clear. There is pitting on the cylinder and frame along with dings and dents on various parts of the revolver. The revolver is cased in a more modern box containing a mismatched powder flask, bullet mold and capper. Also included in the case is a military style button and a strip of fabric, presumed from a uniform. The lid of the box has an "SNY" belt buckle embedded in the front and hand carving on the top reading "1861 SGT. C.H. SEWELL / BULL RUN / CO. G 97 REGT. 1864" in a banner at the top and "NY VOLUNTEERS" in a banner at the bottom. The revolver comes with a folder containing numerous documents relating to the previous owner of the revolver, Sgt. Charles H. Sewell of the NY Volunteers. Also accompanying these documents is a letter from Dealer Consultant Donald S. Ball, President of American Heritage Investments, dated 5 / 1 / 94, showing the purchase of this revolver and copies of the National Archive Records.

An exceptional Springfield, U.S. 1873, "Trapdoor" Rifle in .45-70 Caliber, SN 118513 is a standard c Lot #278 (Sale Order 284 of 306) An exceptional Springfield, U.S. 1873, "Trapdoor" Rifle in .45-70 Caliber, SN 118513 is a standard configuration with a 32 5/8" round barrel having two barrel bands, the forward having sling loops. The barrel has the long range type rear sight with adjustable side leaf. The front sight is an iron blade style. The barrel is excellent, has most of the original blue finish and the bore is bright and shiny. The wood is excellent with only minor scuffs. The frame and trapdoor has visible case colors that are darkened with age. The carbine style butt plate has much original blue and has the rear sling loop attached. The action functions flawlessly and is like new. The top of the trapdoor is marked "1873". (King Collection)

This example was likely m Lot #279 (Sale Order 285 of 306) Colt, 1851 Navy style Brevete Revolver in .35 caliber with 7 1/2" barrel. This example was likely made in Belgium during the period when Colt was producing its original revolvers. The top of the barrel appears to have been marked but is no longer visible. The frame is marked "Colts PA" and ".35 CAL" on the left rear trigger guard flat. Most of the manufacturers that were copying Colts Firearms made subtle changes to avoid legal action. The revolver functions adequately and has primitively marked SN 191272 on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, and back strap. There are light signs of engraving on various parts. The walnut grips are finished nicely and are slightly undersized. The revolver comes in an older display case with a brass bullet mold, a cleaning rod, a powder horn and a nipple wrench.

This painting has a great history, it was once owned by Gaines DeGraffenreid, one of the most recognized collectors of all things western. When Gaines passed away, many of his items were sent to Christie's East in New York, see Christie's markings verso. A great friend of Gaines' flew to New York and bought several things from that auction, including this Jimmy Walker painting. There is a faded business card belonging to Walker attached to back of painting. This painting remained in the Sellers' family until now.
