Mfg'd. 1895. Condition is fair to good with less that 10% blue finish remaining. The balance with a combination light gray with scattered dark spotting. Barrel address, etc. are clear. Left grip shows normal moderate wear; right grip is heavily worn with a piece missing at the bottom front cover. Hammer and trigger are smooth and tight. Cylinder with some movement. The barrels are a dark brown patina with moderate surface erosion over thie length. The action shows toning case hardening but is unmarked. The smooth wood stock is in good condition showing wear and use with a small silver inlay at the wrist. The stock features a brass trigger guard and crescent butt plate. An interesting rifle from the 1860's - 1870's that the consignor notes is consistent with westward migration through Missouri.

Korinsky German Drilling Shotgun in 16 Gauge SXS and 9X57 Cal. This German Drilling Shotgun/Rifle is 42-1/2" overall length with 26-5/8" barrels. It is bored 16 gauge with an under rifle at 9 mm X 57 mm Cal. Bores are in excellent condition. The SN 1984X is marked on the bottom of the barrels along with proom markings from Bavaria in the letter G under a crown. Other proof marks are visible on the barrels along with two ** patterns behind the lug. The right barrel is marked "Erlangen" while the left barrel is marked "A. Korinsky" the manufacturer. This drilling is thought to be vintage 1883 in manufacture in the black powder period for ammunition. The gun displays two exposed hammers with a barrel selector on the top tang with a break-action release lever under the trigger-guard. The gun has double triggers while the locks are the back-action style and the gun has unique large faced fences at the breech. The gun is fitted with a dolls-head design lock-up and the hinge is remarkably smooth and tight. There is no water-table to establish design or proofing as this is not a true SXS. There is a swivel for a sling under the barrels but missing in the butt stock. The stocks are of European walnut with age and patina finish with very little shrinkage. This gun is an antique and no attempt has been made to fire this gun to confirm it's mechanical integrity. Nor should this gun be fired without the examination by a qualified gunsmith. Any attempt to fire an antique gun is at the risk of the owner and not consistent with the value of the firearm.
