Thrust SSC currently holds the world land speed record of 763 mph (1,1228 km/h), which was set on 15th October 1997 and is the only car to officially break the sound barrier (Mach 1.02). This is a 1/43 scale model and is a 'Black Rock 1997 Exclusive Edition' Number 102.  It sits on a wooden plinth with a Perspex case.
