Excellent condition. Germany, circa 1880, the doll is known as Alice in Wonderland for its resemblance to Alice as depicted by John Tenniel, the early British illustrator of Alice in Wonderland book. The doll wears wonderful costume in the Alice style, with pocket watch on chain.

In each print the people are dressed in very stylish costumes a la model. The parlor scene indicates that being shown are "costumes d'enfants des Magasins du Louvre" (costumes from the Parisian department store of Au Louvre).

Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, large blue glass paperweight inset eyes, closed mouth, pert smile, pierced ears, original kid poupee body with gusset jointing, silk costume and undergarments. There is an old hairline that extends up the back of head, curving over left ear and moving a bit into the edge of left cheek, (not interfering with facial features at all), very sturdy body.
