Dr. Pepper – Vintage Brass Sidewalk Safety Marker – for School Crosswalk Lot #8 (Sale Order 8 of 242) 3 3/4” DIA Brass marker has the Advertisement 10-2-4 Drink Dr. Pepper and then “Safety First” on the Bottom – Back Side has a 2” Spile for setting it in the pavement? - Markings on the back side” “Pat'd 4-11-33 National Safety Marker Co.Pontiac, Mich.” - Has a bautiful patina – History: “The Dr. Pepper company supplied these to areas near schools and high pedestrian traffic for sidewalk safety markers in the 1930's. It would sit flush with the top of the sidewalk, used at storefronts, bus and streetcar stops, etc. Schools would also use them as cue-up points to form a line for the bus. Most of the surviving markers were removed during World War Two WWII WWII for the metal.”

I found this item online, described as: 'Dean Cornwell, N.A. (1892-1960) (after) The Father of American Pharmacy, William Procter, Jr.Wyeth Incorporated, Philadelphia: 1943 Photo-process print 16 x 20 inches' --Illustration of William Procter, Jr. (1817-1872), the "Father of American Pharmacy." He is shown with his assistant in his laboratory among apothecary jars, apparatus, and bookshelves. Dean Cornwell is among the leading American painters of the golden era of illustration art. He was a member of the National Academy.
