Quezon as a token of his country's gratitude for the General's pre-war service. The Garand Rifle, called "The finest battle instrument ever devised by man," by General George Patton was chosen as the basis for the Presentation Rifle because of the high regard it was held in by Military men the world over. Truly a masterpiece of the Gunsmith's art and fit for one of the worlds most famous Military figures, General Douglas MacArthur! Included in this is a double set of hand tinted photographs of the General and his son, leather bound and framed with bubble glass, an impressive piece. "U.S." marked Colt, SAA, Cavalry Revolver, .45 caliber, 7 1/2" barrel. This revolver appears to be Lot #539 (Sale Order 245 of 314) "U.S." marked Colt, SAA, Cavalry Revolver, .45 caliber, 7 1/2" barrel. This revolver appears to be an Artillery Model. Between 1895 and 1903 the government had nearly 17,000 of its SAA's reconditioned and rebuilt by the Springfield Armory and the Colt Factory. Most of these revolvers had the barrels shortened to 5 1/2". Since most revolvers were reassembled without concern for part numbers, this is one of the few collectible revolver variations that is considered "correct" with mixed serial numbers, meaning that the various parts of the revolver will usually not match each other. Such is the case with this example. The barrel, cylinder, ejector rod head and hammer are later replacements. The frame is numbered 17433, the trigger guard is numbered 114189 and the back strap is numbered 82792. The frame has the earliest 2 line, 2 date patent and US that are well stamped. The action functions properly and the bore is excellent. The walnut grips fit very well and are original to the period.

Between 1895 and 1903 the government had nearly 17, 000 of its SAA's reconditioned and rebuilt by the Springfield Armory and the Colt Factory. The frame is numbered 11652, the trigger guard is numbered 131551, the back strap is numbered 131594 and 0191 appears on the side of the cylinder. This Colt retains a very high percentage of the arsenal finish that was applied prior to reassembly. The action is flawless and the bore is excellent. The markings on the top of the barrel are faint but readable. The early 2 line patent dates and the US on the frame are very clear and strong. The walnut grips fit very well and are period correct.
