Some restoration to a few areas around the jaw and one small area at the top of the skull. This is a hard to find fossil and would make a great display for any relic room! The cave bear (Ursus spelaeus) was a species of bear that lived in Europe and Asia during the Pleistocene and became extinct about 24,000 years ago. The cave bear had a very broad, domed skull with a steep forehead. Its stout body had long thighs, massive shins and in-turning feet, making it similar in skeletal structure to the brown bear. Cave bears stood almost 12’ tall, and the average weight for a male Cave Bear was 770 to 1,320 lbs., though some specimens found were estimated to weigh as much as 2,200 lbs. *Due to size-extra shipping applies.

Made of native tanned hide, each moccasin measures 7 1/2" long. Made in three piece construction of upper, tongue, and rawhide sole. Tongue is pointed and cuff area is slant cut. Front of each moccasin is seed beaded across the instep and vamp area. Done in blcok style of a light blue background color. Design motiffs consist of a stacked double hour glass figure in pink and dark blue color. Instep area done in a row of horizontal blocks in pink and dark blue color at the ends are a feather design. Lazy stitch method used in the bead embroidary and sinew used in the sewing. Soles are cut from buffalo parfleche with the paint side out. Deaccessioned by the Museum of Native American History.
