1899 General Electric Type UI Form E7 Pancake Fan

1899 General Electric Type UI Form E7 Pancake Fan, this General Electric fan is a relic of the past with bright brass blades and large black "pancake"style body. The information plate on the top of the motor housing reads "Alternating Current Fan Motor, Type UI Form E7 Volts 104 Cycles 125 No 37736" as well as several patent dates, the last of which dating May 27, 1890. The serial number of 37736 dates its production to 1899. Brass blades and fan cage are still bright with only minor tarnishing. The pie crust base and motor housing retain a glossy black paint finish and the fan overall is in very good condition. Fan has an older restoration, looks and runs good, power cord is present. Must see photos. Measures 13.75" x 10" x 15.5"

In this lot, there are three dishes with Commodore Dewey, a US naval commander during the Spanish-American War that decisively destroyed the Spanish Pacific Fleet, two dishes with eagles watching over "The American Hen, Puerto Rica, Cuba, & Philippines", one cruiser with Uncle Sam, and one US cruiser. All pieces are in very good condition with some minor chipping and discoloration. A very nice grouping. See photos.

Dishes are in good condition with some of the cruisers having minor cracks and chips. One of the blue ships has a broken piece that is still present but detached. A very neat grouping. See photos.

One of the USS Oregon still has the original paper label, though it is tattered and missing some pieces. A very nice grouping. See photos.

History Of Anglo Indian Furniture In India The Mughals popularized furniture in India but the concept of conventional furniture was promoted through the influence of the Portuguese and the English East India Company after they entered our shores from 16th CE onwards. The Dutch & French were also influential in bringing about a revolution in cabinet making in the years to follow. As a result, a number of European styles combined with Indian motifs & designs came into being leading to the birth of fusion styles such as Anglo Indian, Indo Portuguese, Indo Dutch and so on. In the beginning of the 18th CE, a number of exotic woods & materials such as ebony, cherrywood & ivory were incorporated in the creation of masterpieces in the Chippendale style. However with time, the availability of these raw materials dwindled and other woods such as rosewood, satinwood, mahogany, etc. were used in cabinet making. Things changed again in the 20th CE when all other wood varieties became too expensive leading to the extensive use of Burma Teak owing to its durability, reliability and cost effectiveness. Even today, large quantities of reclaimed Burma Teak are used to make furniture in the Anglo Indian style given its proven resistance to all weather conditions such as dry heat, humidity, cold, snow, etc. Initially, the colonial masters made furniture by commissioning Indian carpenters under the supervision of their own expert cabinet-makers to make replicas of pieces that were used in their home countries. The carpenters were allowed a slight bit of creative freedom to add Indian motifs to make the pieces look more ornamented. Following which, a number of furniture companies similar to Lazarus of Calcutta came into being and took the furniture trade to a whole new level by opening showrooms all across India. Even today several antique dealers all across India refurbish old pieces by employing the same techniques used by cabinet-makers of the past in order to pass on these jewels to their modern day owners. It is this mix of culture & art that transcended borders centuries ago that has given Indian society a solid foundation in cabinet making which has survived until today.

Bernard Gantner Winter Landscape Oil Painting in French reads "Neige au ciel rouge" meaning Snow in Red Sky. Artist signed the back of painting on the frame in 1978. Bernard Gantner Winter Landscape Oil Painting, oil on canvas, Bernard-Gantner B. 1928 -Artist Bernard Gantner was born in Belfort, in 1928, into a family from the Alsace region of France. At the age of nine years old his talent emerged; his propensity for drawing was remarkable. His grandfather, who was a teacher, was able to nurture and encourage Gantner's gift, and taught him to appreciate the wonders of nature. During World War II, Gantner was fortunate in that the curator from the museum in Belfort became his mentor, and initiated him into the world of oil painting. The museum was closed to the public because of the war, and so Gantner practically had the museum to himself. Gantner was able to admire and study the medieval works, and art by such renowned artists as Delacroix, Courbet and Jongkind. After finishing school in Belfort, Gantner went to Paris to expand his horizons. He studied at the School of Fine Arts, and spent much of his time soaking in the enormous amount of culture Paris had to offer; the museums, the galleries, the architecture. After about a year, Gantner returned home, but he began to experience many material hardships. This difficult time, though, never daunted his purpose nor compromised his standards. At the end of the 1950's, Gantner was noticed by the great art critic Claude Roger Mars. Shortly after that, he won the Critic's Prize in 1961. Rare Navy Brand Manufacturing Company slim flip top lighter, made by the Penguin company out of Japan in the 1950s, graphics of a sailor on the front. Navy Brand is company out of St. Louis, Mo that was founded in 1907. Also includes misc lighters made in Korea, USA, and Japan from different manufacturers such as Supreme, Windguard, hi-light, Ogawa, Omega, and Reliance. Lighters have minor wear from use and age on the surfaces. All the wicks and lids are clean with signs of limited use. Overall excellent condition. See photos.

Rare 1930s Art Deco Black Cigarette Case

This cigarette case has a dispensing mechanism as well as a built-in lighter that is operated by sliding the top clasp over. When slid even further, the built-in lighter pops up. Lighter flips up but does not work as there is no lighter fluid in it. Marking on inside of case reads “Magic Case Mfrs, St. Louis, Mo.” as well as the patent numbers “1186530, 1293197”. The black exterior is in very good condition with the art deco styling still nicely colored. An absolute must have for serious collectors and art deco enthusiasts. See photos.

Beattie Jet Lighter stamped "Made in U.S.A. US Pat 1894300" and 9 Misc. Lighters from different makers and countries. The Beattie Jet Lighter (bottom row, 3rd from left) is similar in design to other petrol lighters, just with one strange and unfamiliar looking part added on. The jet tube is the key to what sets this lighter apart. If held upright it functions just like every other petrol lighter, but tilted slightly with maybe the hint of a roll of the wrist and that same flame will jet straight out. The other lighters have some surface wear and others have more wear on the lids and barrel. Wicks are worn from use. Some lighters are in better condition than others. Conditions vary. See photos.

Rare US Military 45th Inf Div Ashtray Stand

In 1920, the 45th Infantry Division was created from the Oklahoma State militia and the unit would adopt the swastika as their good luck symbol, using it on everything like coins, medals, and this ashtray stand. They would later change their symbol to the infamous Thunderbird, as they would later be called, due to the usage of the swastika by Nazi Germany in the 1930s. This ashtray stand features the prominent swastika at the center of the stand. Stand has a four-legged base and is missing the glass ashtray. Original finish is worn were ashtray would be and has some edge wear. Very interesting and rare piece of American military history. Must see photos. Measures 8” x 8” x 21”

The exterior skin is made of solid copper lithograph plates which still bear catalog images. The lid opens reveal the cedar lined interior. Comes with a vintage lock and key. Machine is powered by a belt drive. Oak case has four glass sides and glass top. Half of the glass is missing. Front partial glass has Waite & Bartlett logo etched in glass. The fixed brass tag has patent date of May 1901. Another affixed brass tag reads Nowes Bros. and Cutler, St. Paul, MN. Needs total restoration but would be a very impressive unit when finished. 62" x 43" x 29".

Delivery tag on bottom of cash drawer shows it was built May 22, 1903. Still has the original National Cash Register brass tag on the front and the brass escutcheon with model number on the back and the original National brass drawer pull. No key included with the lock. Manufactured by, Fruit-O-Matic Manufacturing Company, during the early 1950's, in Los Angeles, California. The machine was both a popular and dependable, unique, vending machine for dispensing, chilled, fresh fruit. The machine features a hermetically sealed refrigeration unit and an attractive fluorescent lighted front display panel. The machine gained popularity when it appeared in the 1949 movie staring, Marlon Brando in "The Men". The Fruit-O-Matic was later promoted by the actress, Jane Mansfield and began appearing on college campuses, such as UCLA and the Fruit-O-Matic even had a location in Times Square, in New York City. This machine appears to be complete. It is in original, as-found condition and believed to be in working condition although untested by auction house. Measures 73" tall, 45" wide, 24" deep and weighs 700 pounds. Has original sales literature.

Swiss Railway Station Coin-Op Automaton Music Box

Henri Vidoudez An outstanding example of the Swiss railway station music box genre; used to entertain children and adults alike in the waiting rooms while they idled the time between trains. They were used to entertain children (and adults too) in the waiting rooms. Historically, these coin-op machines were owned by their creator (in this case Henri Vidoudez) and leased to the Swiss Railway System in a revenue-sharing arrangement. They were maintained by Vidoudez throughout their service life. This piece dates to 1895. The casework is in exceptional condition, measuring 23” wide x 14” deep x 29” tall. There is an outside crank for winding and a electrical cord for the lighting only (with a 220 adapter to use here in America). The coin slot is located on the upper right side, and just below it on the bottom is the “secret” drawer where the money is collected. The 10-tune music box was restored in recent years at the renowned Baud Museum in St. Croix, Switzerland, to the highest of standards. The casework was done nearby by Monsieur Margot of L’Auberson. The drum and bell accompaniment, as well as the three dancing dolls, make this a wonderful presentation! Drop a penny in the slot, the light comes on, and the dolls start dancing to the music, and everyone watching will be all smiles! A true musical treasure, and one that will become a family heirloom!

L. Bacigalupi Organ 46 Key

Built by the great Luis Bacigalupi, in the West Coast Organ Company, El Monte, CA. Luis Bacigalupi was considered one of the greatest organ builders in the world. He came to American in 1904. He built this organ with his son in the late 1930's and early 1940's. He built this organ for himself but rented it to people in Hollywood and others in his area. You would call him and he would deliver and pick up the organ. Luis was the inventor of the cardboard and roll operated organs. This organ has had stories written about it by the NBSI magazine on at least 2 different occasions as well as by smaller publications. The organ has been in 30-40 and B movies in Hollywood. The most famous movie was Hatari! in 1962, with John Wayne. Henri Mancini was credited as the greatest composer of his time and played this organ in the majority of these movies. He played the tune "Elephant Walk", which was written for Hatari, during the scene where the animals gather at the watering hole. After Luis's death in 1958, the organ was left to his son, Luis Jr. Only a few years later, Luis's health failed. Then he sold it to J. Ward. Mr. Ward created Bullwinkle and was also considered the greatest cartoonist of his time. Mr. Ward played this organ on TV many times on the Howdy Doody and Kukla, Fran and Ollie shows. You cannot find an organ today built with so much craftsmanship with so much history as this great organ. Truly a museum piece that should be shared with everyone. Having the greatest organ builder, the greatest music composer and the greatest cartoonist all a part of one organ. This organ has been in a private collection on the east coast, owned by Dennis Windsor, who's show was mostly history but included his famous monkey, Joey, for the kids. Entertainment for children young and old. Dennis purchased this organ from Mrs. Ward after Mr. Wards death. It was then sent to The Great Canadian Nickelodeon Company where it underwent a total restoration.

Laughing Sal 6½ Ft Tall Carnival Animatronic

Laffing Sal is one of several automated characters that were built primarily to attract carnival and amusement park patrons to fun houses and dark rides throughout the United States. Its movements were accompanied by a raucous laugh that sometimes frightened small children and annoyed adults. Produced by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company (PTC) of Germantown, Pennsylvania during the 1920s and early 1930s. The figure stood 6 feet, 10 inches, including a 12-inch pedestal. It was made of papier-mâché, consisting of seven layers of pressed card stock with horse-hair strengthener, mounted over steel coils and frame. It did not come with a hat — hats were added by purchaser — but wore an artificial wig and was missing an upper incisor tooth. This version is an exact reproduction from an original, both physically and mechanically though it has a recorded audio card playing an original record! See photos.

Made by the Polyphon Musikwerke in Germany. It was imported by Regina Music Box Company in 1903 and sold at the Polyphone Concerto to hotel and tavern suppliers. Spring motor drives a 32" steel disc which plays a piano, two drums and one cymbal. It is coin operated. Two piece cabinet with original finish measures 112.5" tall including an 11" removable gallery, 45" wide and 24" deep. Lower cabinet has pull out door for disc storage. Disc included. There are only a few of these boxes known in the United States and this is perfect for the advanced collector. Plays well but hasn't been tuned for 40 years. The all wood cabinet has its original finish, paint and graphics in good unrestored condition. The original back glass is in overall good condition with some minor paint deterioration near the top. This machine can take up to 6 players. Has its original $0.10 coin mechanism and coin box. Also included are 4 original metal pucks, original can of shuffleboard wax and various original manuals, instructions, schematics, etc. Machine appears complete, it was in working order some years ago, but has not been tested lately. Has been in storage for over 25 years. This machine was pulled out of the Wakefield Tavern in Cicero, IL January 1985. The Wakefield Tavern was well known for being Al Capone's hang out.

Columbia Regina Grafonola Phonograph/Music Box

Columbia Regina Grafonola Phonograph/Music Box combination, this magnificent machine with its impressive carvings, has its original brown mahogany finish which is lightly alligatored throughout. Overall above average condition. The vast majority of these machines were produced as a style 240 Reginaphone, however this example is marked "Colombia Grafonola Deluxe". Experts speculate that from that group, approximately 500 were produced as "Colombia Grafonola Deluxe." This unique convertible mechanism allows the user to play either disc phonograph records or a 15.5" Regina disc music box. Both the phonograph and music box mechanisms are in good working order. The 15.5" double comb short bed plate Regina mechanism is in excellent untouched original condition and also has a Zither attachment. This is among the finest sounding we have ever heard. It has its original 12" cast iron accessory turntable with its original felt. The toner and reproducer have their original nickel plating which is lightly oxidized. It has its original swing out waste needle cup mounted below the needle block. It has its original winding crank with safety clutch. The glide away tone modulating doors open and close smoothly over the internal horn which also houses a small trap door which is to be opened while the music box is playing. The lower storage compartment houses its eight original record storage boxes with their original paper dividers and knobs. The above consists of 4 10" and 4 12". The storage compartment also has provisions for storage of the 15.5" metal music box discs. As is appropriate with this machine, the 12 original, copper-plated 15.5" music box discs are the original complement to this style and are included. These discs bear no Regina markings as appropriate for a Colombia machine. Has its original cabinet key. The four legs and skirts are nicely intact and tight. This machine was purchased from the estate of the original owners in the mid 1980s in Riverside, Illinois. The machine had been in its original location in the parlor since its purchase and has only been moved twice and is being sold by the second owner. You never find them in such an exceptional condition with its complete complement of original accessories and in outstanding condition. A real treasure from the Roger Merenkov collection. ~50" x 23" x 23"

Lifting a wood slide on the side will release a steel ball (the pill) and by moving his head back and forth you can guide it down into his mouth. Game in overall very good original condition with good graphics and does work. No key included with lock. Measures 23.75" tall, 16.25" wide, 11.25" deep. Note: Some games were originally listed 5 pills for a penny, this one is 3 pills for a penny and the flip lever on the side has been retrofitted with a sliding arm.

This German Heyn massive lion stander is reportedly from the Heyn carousel that resided in Willowbrook Park, Staten Island, New York. This impressive animal sports a thick, deeply carved, wavy mane which surrounds his ferocious face. His glass-eyed stare has a magnetic quality when combined with the open mouth “ready to bite” expression. Trappings include a bird-back saddle over a fringed blanket. He retains the original neck handle in lieu of a bridle. The body has a whitewashed texture which could be painted to match the head coloring. His tail is tucked between his legs. This example would be a rarer model as these were not sold but leased and distributed or exchanged monthly to high-end jewelry stores via the US Postal Service. In the 1950s, the restrictions on size and weight were reduced resulting in many of these models being chopped down, eliminating the larger bottom base, sold into Canada, or scrapped for parts. This chopped down model has been freshly restored by Mike Hassanov.

In the year 1950 to 1955 there was a TV show that aired called “Space Patrol“. It was the biggest thing on TV for kids at that time. It was sponsored by the Ralston Purina cereal company. As you can see the red and white checkered motif on the rockets tail. The rocket works 100% on a dime for one minute. The steering wheel makes the rocket tilt to the left or tilt to the right and there is a interior thruster bar as you pull back speeds up the motion of the rocket from going up and down. There is also an audio box with a volume control switch that plays the original Space patrol soundtrack and Rocket sounds as the child is flying in the rocket with a built-in fan that blows in the child’s face as if he or she was flying through the galaxy.

St James Church Adoration of the Magi Windows

Original Tiffany style windows installed in St James Catholic church in Chicago, with the companion piece to the Tiffany Crucifixion windows, also available in this auction. Church had a devastating fire in 1972 and these windows survived, remained hidden and forgotten for 47 years. Rediscovered in 2019. Windows portray a genius use of color, window plating, and drapery glass is all evident in this 7 window set. Multiple layers of glass, known as plating, give unique lighting shades and tones found in the technique of Tiffany's fabulous works. The drapery glass used in the robes is also unique to Tiffany and other makers such as LaFarge's works. The quality in the faces, hands, feet and body shapes matches that of high end paintings. These were most likely commissioned at the turn of the century. These windows will need complete restoration. The lead needs to be re-tightened and there are several cracks and missing pieces, see photos. This is a once in a lifetime chance, as these windows have never previously been offered for sale. Each 2 window section is 27" x 9'. The Magi window was inspired by the painting Adoration of the Magi by Henrich Hoffman (1824 – 1911). Tiffany did translate the Hoffman design into glass in 1892 as documented in Middle Collegiate Church, Manhattan, New York City, NY. Our windows bear a striking similarity to the Tiffany window in the Middle Collegiate Church. The experts we have had contact with have varying opinions. The consensus is these windows could be Tiffany, Lamb, John Laforge, or Edward Peck Sperry. We were sent this information from an expert “Tiffany would have used a stained glass designer to translate the Hofmann design into glass. His most famous designer was Frederick Wilson, but he didn't work with Tiffany until 1893. So I'm guessing (but have no proof) that the 1892 design was by Edward Peck Sperry. And Sperry left Tiffany in 1899 to co-found a competitor company to Tiffany Glass and Decorating Company called the Church Glass and Decorating Company. Sperry left that company in about 1904/1905. If the St James version of "Adoration of the Magi" dates to between about 1899 and 1905 then it could well be by Church Glass and Decorating Company instead of by Tiffany. But this is extremely, extremely speculative.” In addition to our expert opinions, we were able to find historic photos of the interior of St .James Church showing these very windows in place through the Chicago Historical Society.

Art Deco Bar & Back Bar

Curved top back bar has 3 square mirrors in center and 2 round mirrors on opposite sides. 4 light fixtures enclosed by glass rods. The back bar all original as pulled from a Wisconsin Supper Club. Hardware and doors are all original. There is some water damage to the finish on the left hand corner. This is a very restorable piece with very little effort. Back bar measures 21' long, 7' 8" high. Massive 25' front bar is all original with both finished ends. This bar has not been restored. It was taken from its original location. All sinks and front bar included. Incredible ornate steel-bronze and wood stair rail. Wood handrail in good shape Some minor chips. One 2.5" x 3/4" larger chip toward top. Easy fix. Upper straight top rail about 132" long. From upper curve to bottom curl is 197" long. Upper rail is at 35" high and lower part the same. Could use mounting blocks to get desired height for building codes. Rumors have it coming out of an old St. Louis hotel.

1933 Art Deco Pub/Pedestal Tables Pair

This pair of tables was designed for a post office building that opened in 1933 in conjunction with the 1933 World's Fair. They were designed by the architect Salisbury, who designed other furnishings in the building as well as the building itself. The medium is cast aluminum and French marble. The tables are being sold as a pair however only one marble top remains. Marble around both bases is intact. Octagonal tops measure 42" x 42". Tables are 42" tall.

Has original kickstand. Original decal on front has Hedstrom Union Company, Gardner, Mass. Sidecar complete. Looks like the back metal panel has been replaced. This car model would have been used to show potential drivers how the operation of the steering, gearbox, clutch, transmission, lights and brakes work. Also shown in models like this are section views of the engine and axle. This model features a red painted front with license plate showing model number "VVR 160". Some coloring is faded and some minor surface rust is present on metal parts. Front tires are absent with hub cap present on driver's side front wheel. Dashboard is missing steering wheel and some other controls. Untested. Comes with a box of extra parts including battery, steering wheel, see photos. Measures 51" x 19" x 15"

This model car has a light green chassis and features controls to show operation of the car. License plate has the model number "51-61" and car has all four tires with a spare in back. This model car has a gray chassis and features controls to show operation of the car. License plate has the model number "H-D 60" and car has all four tires with a spare in back. The car is mounted to a presentation board with a plaque reading "Werner Degener, Lehrmittel GmbH, Hannover, Hindenburgstr. 33". Some controls appear to be present on the board. Car is in very good condition and is untested. See photos. Measures 42" x 15" x 14.5"

Included in this lot are two door gaskets, side and vent window glass for one door, instrument panel gasket, ignition switch, two NOS door handles and spare lock cylinder, two 24" compression lines, and an escutcheon, as well a couple of other trim pieces. In 1961, the Amphicar was launched at the New York Auto Show. Originally designed by Hanns Trippel, the amphibious vehicle was built by the Quandt Group at Lübeck, as well as Berlin-Borsigwalde, and approximately 3878 of them were manufactured in a single generation. Examples of the Amphicar can be seen ini films such as "Rotten to the Core" (1965), "The Sandwich Man" (1966), and others.

16' Wooden Old Town Style Row Boat

Vintage 16 foot wood row boat. Row boat is in remarkably good condition for its age. Interior structure looks to be complete with no breaks or rot in the wood. Interior is constructed in Old Town style with 4 seats and exposed ribs. Outside covered in painted canvas which is heavily crazed and cracked from age. This would be a great candidate for restoration or to make a standing bookcase out of. Comes with pair of wooden oars, but only has one brass oarlock.
