United States Model 1860 staff and field presentation sword measuring 35.5" (29.75" blade). Folding clam-shell guard presents engraved presentation "Dr. Geo B. Peck Jr. From Mary H. Grosvenor, Prov. R.I.". Dr. George Bachler Peck (1843-1934) was a lieutenant in Company G of the 2nd Rhode Island Volunteer Infantry and was wounded at the Battle of Sailor's Creek Virginia. Mary H. Grosvenor (1818-?) was an artist in Rhode Island. Sword would have been presented to Peck post 1870's after his graduation from Yale Medical School. Sword is accompanied by research.

Pistol grip has been replaced with crude facsimile. Gun lacks trigger guard. A fine and displayable World War I relic.

Joseph John Sadowski (1917?1944) from Perth Amboy, New Jersey was serving as a Sergeant in Company A, 37th Tank Battalion, 4th Armored Division in Valhey, France when he lost his life trying to rescue a trapped crewman in his burning tank.
