Outstanding sterling silver and bone ladle. Bacchus, ca 1894. The bone handle is inset with well detailed bust of bacchus on the end. The handle turns in to an egraved grape leaf and bark sleeve overlaid with grape clusters terminating in a beautifully shaped deep bowl with a bacchus bust at the rim. The underside displays a stamped gorham hallmark, 5191 within a cartouche. Additionally inscribed with two continuous moograms and the date 1891. 18 3/4" long. Condition: very fine.
