Lot #3 (Sale Order 6 of 224)

Smith & Wesson First Model, Double Action "Frontier" Revolver, chambered in .44-40. The revolver is known as one of the three "first model" variants, alongside the First Model Russian, and the First Model Favorite, and is distinguished by its 1 9/16" cylinder. The revolver utilizes a top break, serrated target hammer, factory Smith & Wesson hard rubber grips, automatic cartridge ejector, nickel finish, a 5" barrel, and a six shot cylinder. The revolver is marked with the correct pre-1900 patents, and reads "Smith & Wesson Springfield MASS. U.S.A. PAT'D JAN. 17 & 24. 65 - JULY 11. 65 AUG 24. 69 JULY 25. 71 DEC. 2. 79 MAY 11 & 25 1880". The .44-40 was a favorite of the renowned marksmen Ira Paine, who owned two of the revolvers, Texas outlaw John Wesley Hardin was toting a .44 Frontier when he was killed in the Acme Saloon, and is seen in major television and cinema in the 2007 reboot of 3:10 to Yuma, and Boardwalk Empire. The Frontier was manufactured between 1886 to 1913, with 15,340 examples made, this is a low serial example, shipped pre-1890.. Additionally, the revolver exhibits good mechanical condition, with a good bore and a tight action. This revolver qualifies as an Antique Hand Gun, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check. Frame and cylinder are matching serial numbered 1945.

Rare Very Early Production JP Sauer M1926 Commercial Model 7.65 Cal. Pistol Rare Very Early Production JP Sauer M1926 Commercial Model 7.65 Cal. Pistol

Rare Very Early Production JP Sauer M1926 Commercial Model 7.65 Cal. Pistol

Lot #14 (Sale Order 26 of 224)

Serial number range for this rare model ran approx. 161000-171400. This pistol is serial number 161592, so a very early commercially produced pistol. Original finish condition is average. Bore exhibits wear. The firing pin is not present, but could be an easy fix if a parts pistol happened to come along! This pistol is considered the "missing link" in most JP Sauer collections. "This gun was originally called the Export Model, and only later named the Model 1926. In 1926 the safety lever was provided with a nose which is used to lock the slide in its rear position. The slide catch in the trigger guard is eliminated (as the slide is now held open by the nose of the safety lever). The Zusatzsicherung is retained, and the internal lock work is identical to the Model 1913, Variant 3. The frame retains the square-cut grip of the Model 1913, however the trigger guard is now oval shaped, rather than round, and its bottom runs parallel with the slide. The serrations extend from the screw cap onto the slide. The old-style magazine is retained, so the Model 1926 has magazine interchangeability with the Model 1913. THE EARLIEST (as this pistol is) MODEL 1926 PISTOLS HAD GRIPS LIKE THE MODEL 1913 VARIANT #3 (as this pistol does), but later the hard rubber grips show the word “Sauer” in a rectangle at the top and “Cal. 7,65” in a rectangle at the bottom. Only about 10,000 of these guns were made, making this model relatively rare. There is some crossover of serial numbers between the Model 1926 and the Model 1930."

Late War German Officer's Sword-Rare Field Marshal Series By Eickhorn-LUTZOW Pattern

Lot #17 (Sale Order 29 of 224)

This example is in good overall condition exhibiting wear to the original gold gilt finish. The twisted wire black celluloid grip has what appears to be an old repair. The 32-1/4” blade is in extremely good condition and exhibits the stamped 1935-41 squirrel logo of the Carl Eickhorn Co. Scabbard is not present. The Lützow Pattern has the same Wehrmacht eagle and swastika on the pommel as the Prinz Eugen Pattern. The backstrap is engraved with oak leaves and acorns that run the length and extend into the grip tabs. The "P" guard also has a panel engraved with oak leaves and acorns. The ferrule consists of oak leaves with a cross between the pair, and acorns on either side of the cross. This pattern is repeated on the opposite side. The cross guard is interesting in that it has back-to-back acorns that run all the way out to the curlicue Quilon end. The reverse langet is plain, with a "seal" designed to accept a monogram. The opposite side has the characteristic Lützow motif, consisting of a sword piercing a mobile swastika, with oak leaves on either side. The Lützow Pattern Sword is the rarest of all the Eickhorn Field Marshall Series.

Scarce Heer Parade Standarte Pole Top

Lot #44a (Sale Order 61 of 224)

These scarce pole tops were cast aluminum. The detail is fairly crisp. There are file marks on some of the inner edges as is often found on originals. The base has the stylized initials of the designer "PC". The interior of the base is rough which is a characteristic of known originals. The bottom rim stampings are in the correct period font although placement sometimes varies. There is a small piece of unfiled slag just above the Eagle's left leg talons. This pole top is attributed to being a WWII U.S. Veteran bring back! We have had many varied opinions on this particular pole top. Ranging from 100% textbook and WW2 period to Vet may have found in a reject pile due to the slag presence, to not liking the detail. Again, this pole top can be indirectly attributed to a WW2 veteran's estate. Please bid based on your own knowledge, expertise and/or research.

1944 Dated Luftwaffe M43 Cap With Heer Insignia-Late War Volksturm Worn?

Lot #86 (Sale Order 106 of 224)

Upon close observation it is hard to tell if there is any indication of this cap ever having a Luftwaffe eagle applied. The Heer/Mountain Troops type "T" Eagle and cockade insignia is bevo embroidered and has been machine sewn onto the front and goes through the lining. The cap has the pull down straps. Light blue rayon blend lining is ink stamped 1944 and with an RBNr. Luftwaffe blue wool cap body is fairly salty and combat worn. No stitching reacts to UV lighting. Most probably a late war M43 cap worn by a member of Hitler's last ditch army, The Volksturm.

3pcs- Waffen SS Foreign Volunteer Collar Tabs 3pcs- Waffen SS Foreign Volunteer Collar Tabs

3pcs- Waffen SS Foreign Volunteer Collar Tabs

Lot #115 (Sale Order 137 of 224)

They are the 18th Hungarian "Horst Wessel" Division, 4th SS Panzer Grenadier Brigade "Nederland" and the 15th Waffen SS Grenadier Division "Latvian Volunteers" Silver gray thread embroidered on black wool bas with buckram stiffener. The buckram that is evident on the reverse of all three does exhibit The light "sheen" as is typical of Third Reich produced (Dachau) collar tabs. That being stated, there was a company in the 1970's called Delta Enterprises that started manufacturing Waffen SS Foreign Volunteer collar tabs-2 of the telltale signs of recognizing these tabs versus is that the buckram was slightly different than these examples and did not have the "sheen". The other sign is the white stitching on the reverse was always close to the edges on the Delta collar tabs as these 3 collar tabs depict. But, there are known Dachau produced examples that also have the stitching close to the edge. There are many collectors that stay away from these type of collar tabs and there are many that accept them as period. No reaction to UV lighting. Please bid based on your own knowledge, expertise and/or research.

WW2 Period U.S. Airborne/Paratrooper M2 Automatic Pocket Knife-Presto/Schrade WW2 Period U.S. Airborne/Paratrooper M2 Automatic Pocket Knife-Presto/Schrade

WW2 Period U.S. Airborne/Paratrooper M2 Automatic Pocket Knife-Presto/Schrade

Lot #137 (Sale Order 161 of 224)

Worn in the breast pocket of the Paratrooper M2 Jump Jacket, these knives were intended for paratroopers to cut their parachute cords and anything else if they got entangled during a jump. All of the versions are quite rare and hard to find, partly because they continued to be used after the war, and simply wore out. The spring on this example is still strong. The earliest models of these had a "jigged bone" handle, but as the war progressed, a simpler textured metal grip design was introduced, which was painted black. Unlike other versions, this one came in two sizes, the smaller No.2, which was the same size s the No.1, and the larger No.3. This knife is the model 3 as reference in Cole’s reference book. It has an original overall length of 8 3/4", compared to the 7 1/8" inch of the No.2 and later No.4 and No.5. The blade is marked “PRESTO MADIN THE U.S.A.” on one side of the ricasso and “GEO. SCHRADE BRIDGEPORT CONN.” On the other side. The blade has a faint etching that appears to be “Commando”..? Scarce example.

2pcs-WW2 U.S. Airborne/Para/Glider Troops Garrison Caps W/Bullion Insignia 2pcs-WW2 U.S. Airborne/Para/Glider Troops Garrison Caps W/Bullion Insignia

2pcs-WW2 U.S. Airborne/Para/Glider Troops Garrison Caps W/Bullion Insignia

Lot #178 (Sale Order 202 of 224)

The OD wool cap has blue infantry piping and the parachute patch is sewn onto the wearer's right front as commonly done by higher rank NCO's and officers. It is a cotton embroidered example with a felt center and bullion accents have been added most likely in the Italian Theater. It has a size 7 label. The interior has had a portion cut out possibly done post war as was often the case when the WW2 vet would donated or sell his equipment as to not have his name associated. The bullion accents to the patch have toned nicely with age and the patch/patch stitching do not react to UV lighting. The khaki garrison cap also has blue infantry piping. The combined paratroops/Glider Troops patch is multi piece construction with hand embroidered silver bullion parachute/glider. The bullion has toned nicely with age-rare theater made patch! No reaction to UV lighting. The interior has a size tag of 7. We believe these caps with such rare patches are original WW2 period but please bid based on you own knowledge, expertise and/or research.
