1979 Volkswagen Super Beetle Convertible Lot #17 (Sale Order 16 of 58) 1979 Volkswagen Super Beetle Convertible
VIN: 1592041295
The Volkswagen Beetle, first produced in the 1930s, enjoyed long-standing sales success in the world-wide market. Convertible models are especially popular, but the 1979 Super Beetle was the end of the line for the VW convertible, out of concern the government would introduce new safety regulations banning convertibles.
The Super Beetle has a McPherson strut front suspension. To make this major front suspension change, the Super Beetle features different front body sheet metal including front hood, fenders, apron and quarter panels. The front of the chassis is changed as well to accommodate the new suspension design. The body is the same as Standard Beetle from the "A" pillar back. The chassis is the same as the Standard Beetle from the framehead back. The bumpers, turn signals, headlights and most trim items such as the hood handle are the same as the Standard Beetle.
The Super Beetle Convertible presented at auction has benefited from long-term current ownership since 2005. Extensive care and maintenance has been invested including a front-end work including new linkage and repair of the steering assembly. The car now tracks well down the road. Repair and maintenance receipts are present in the car.
The car is equipped with the 1600cc fuel injected dual port motor. The engine runs strong and is mated to a 4 speed manual transmission. The mechanics have been well maintained and sports a fresh oil change, tune-up and lube.
The body is all original as is the interior, and care was taken to not drive the car in winter conditions by the present owners. The car was always garaged under current ownership, and the body/paint present well, consistent with typical wear to the car being a driver. The interior also presents with wear including the seats, though not shown in pictures due to the presence of seat covers. The Vinyl Convertible top shows some patch work and, according to the owner, would benefit from replacement.
The odometer shows 36K miles, but likely has turned over. The previous owners were "snowbirds" and a tow bar assembly is available with the car. It is not known how many miles were resulted from towing.
Drop the top, crank the aftermarket radio, and get ready to respond to looks, compliments and high thumbs from people when enjoying this car on a cruise!

1941 Ford Super Deluxe Convertible Lot #40 (Sale Order 40 of 58) 1941 Ford Super Deluxe Convertible
Though the sabres of War were rattling across the seas, the Ford Motor Company accomplished a complete update to their Super Deluxe Convertible. Though production was shifted to the war effort in 1942, this design would restart in 1946 and last through 1948. Excellent lines, innovative front fenders, a wide body that nearly covered the running boards and a stately presence! The front and rear fenders were still pronounced, but were now integrated more into the body and the headlights were pushed all the way up and out over the front wheels. The Super Deluxe had several amenities of higher quality over the base models, including more chrome, leather seats, and a wood-grain dashboard.
The car presented at auction is an excellent example of pre-war quality production showing pride of ownership over the years. The car underwent a complete restoration nearly 40 years ago, and the quality workmanship still shows today. Extensive records and receipts from the rebuild in 1982/83 are present with the car.
Ford's Famed Flathead V8 powers this car superbly and the manual transmission flows smooth especially at highway speed in overdrive! The Automatic Power Top works as designed and the Boot Cover, when installed with the top down, provides that elegant look.
This car was acquired from an estate in North Central Montana from long-term ownership. While the body and paint shows normal markings from a 40 year-old restoration, the car continues to present very well. This will be an excellent car to add to a collection and/or to enjoy as a driver.

1962 Ford Thunderbird Convertible Lot #50 (Sale Order 48 of 58) 1962 Ford Thunderbird Convertible
VIN: 2Y85Z173708
The 3rd generation Thunderbird, produced from 1961-1963, featured new and sleeker styling over the 2nd generation "square birds". Sales were very strong over the three year run selling more than 200,000 units. Other innovations include a floating rear view mirror, common on almost all automobiles produced today.
The car presented at auction is a finely restored example. VIN: 344778M216262
Though under the same corporate umbrella, Pontiac and Oldsmobile were in competition for the performance market. In the early 1960s, Pontiac made available the GTO package to it's LeMans and Oldsmobile added the 4-4-2 option to its popular Cutlass line of automobiles. Both packages included larger engines, enhanced suspension design and special badging. The 4-4-2 package was based on its combination of four-barrel carburetor, four-speed manual transmission and dual exhaust.
The second generation of the 4-4-2 became its own, distinct model from 1968-1971. An automatic transmission became an option on the car and all standard 400ci engines were painted bronze/copper color topped by a fire-red air cleaner. Of the more than 36,000 4-4-2s produced for model year 1968, only 4700 Sports Coupe models were produced.
The car presented at auction will capture your eye from the start. The chrome bumpers and stainless trim appear original and are in good condition. The trunk appears in untouched, original and very solid condition. The jack, lug wrench and spare are present and appear original to the car.
The interior will catch your attention as it appears the front bucket and rear bench seats are recovered in the original vinyl Parchment colored material. New exhaust manifolds are joined to new exhaust from the engine to the dual tail pipes, emanating an awesome sound. New hoses, belts, etc. were added as well. Records and receipts of work performed is present with the car.
