1957A $1 Blue Seal Silver Certificate Grades AU, Almost Unc. Silver Certificates were redeemable in Silver. One of their most distinctive qualities is the blue Treasury seal and serial numbers. These notes include an additional legend printed on the face that is not present on any other Federal Reserve notes. The legend states that Silver had been deposited in the Treasury and was payable on demand to the note’s bearer.

This note does not have the familiar "In God We Trust" motto on the reverse, though, as that motto was not added until 1957.

2003A $2 Green Seal Missouri Green Seal Federal Reserve Note (FRN) Grades Gem++ CU. On+AI13:AJ14 November 3, 1975, Secretary of the Treasury William E. Simon announced the reissuance of the $2 note as a cost-saving measure; the new $2 notes would be available from banks on April 13, 1976, Thomas Jefferson's birthday.[28] Series 1976 and onward $2 bills were partially redesigned and reissued as a Federal Reserve Note. The note retains the same portrait of Jefferson, and the basic design of the obverse remains unchanged since 1928. The treasury seal and serial numbers are printed in green ink, replacing the red used on the previous United States Note. Since the reintroduction of the note coincided with the United States Bicentennial, it was decided to use a bicentennial-themed design on the reverse. The bill was not issued specifically to celebrate the bicenntenial, as is widely assumed. An engraved rendition (not an exact reproduction) of John Trumbull's Declaration of Independence replaced Monticello on the reverse. Beginning with Series 1995, all $2 notes have been produced at the Western Currency Facility in Fort Worth, Texas. An issue of Series 2003A $2 bills was printed from July to September 2006 for all twelve Federal Reserve Banks.

Up for Auction is a Consignment I have been talking about for the last few months, and I have finally secured. I have secured a collection of old 1960Õs Las Vegas Casino Half Dollar Shot Gun Rolls from various Casinos. These Rolls contain 20 Half Dollars. They have tight ends and are wild!. I opened three rolls to examine the contents and what I found was mostly Circulated Walkers, a few Franklins and a Seated coin or two and a couple of Barbers. But after I opened the rolls, I wished I hadn't as they were so cool as antique Las Vegas Half Rolls. I have only seen a handful of these ever. The consignee has given us some additional rolls. I have put 3 in each of the Independence auctions. We estimate the rolls to be worth $2000 each as a collectable antique, but if the roll is opened and has a rare date, who knows the value, a 1921 Walker even in low grade is worth over $500, and several other dates are worth over $200 each. But who knows, maybe a rare 1878-s Seated is inside. ($35k in g4), or an 1892-o Barber ($5k in G4). In any event the rolls themselves are amazing collectibles of a bygone era of the Rat pack and Las Vegas. From the rolls we have received there are 10 different casinos. Good Luck.

Per PCGS, only 400 examples survive in all grades. This nice near AU example has great detail for the grade, some original mint luster remains in the protected areas. Once again, there is a different head of Liberty on the 1838 quarter eagle than there is on the preceding years of this type; it is somewhat similar to the 1834 large head. Strictly uncirculated specimens are very rare. This style head appears only on the 1838, although the head on the 1839/8 is virtually the same with only a few minor differences. 1928A $50 Gold Demand Federal Reserve Note Signatures woods/mellon Grades AU Details. Ulysses S. Grant is the central subject of this scarce $50 gold note, issued because of a change in the size of United States currency beginning with all series dated 1928. This change in the size of America’s currency came about from a study that had determined that printing smaller currency would save the government a hefty amount of money in production cost. Because of the nature of gold certificates – each one accompanied the deposit of gold coins – they are somewhat scarce to begin with, as gold is far more scarce than silver. Add to that the decision to drop the gold standard by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1933, thus making owning gold coin (or notes promising gold coin) illegal, and you end up with a series of notes that was printed, then recalled less than six years after their initial issue. Many of the notes were destroyed when turned in, and few of them survived. Fortunately for collectors, the restriction for owning gold certificates as collectibles was repealed by Treasury Secretary C. Douglas Dillon in 1964, but the damage had been done to the stockpiles of said notes. Not many remain of the millions that had originally been issued prior to the depression.

It was the darkest days of World War II, just after Pearl Harbor. Everybody in Hawaii was sitting on pins and needles. Were the Japanese preparing a massive invasion of the islands? If they did invade, they could use the millions of dollars in currency on the islands to buy war material. To thwart this, these $1 Federal Reserve Notes were sent to the islands. Each has a large HAWAII printed on the reverse. If the Japanese did invade, the currency would be demonetized. After the threat passed, most of these "Hawaii" Notes were destroyed. Today they're hard to find.

Vividly toned in handsome orange-khaki patina, the surfaces are suitably lustrous for the assigned grade. The texture is satiny and relatively smooth overall to allow one to focus on the bold striking detail. While this issue is not the lowest mintage entry of its type (that distinction goes to the 1909-O), the 1911-D is still a very scarce coin by 20th century gold standards with only 72,500 pieces produced. It is also one of the most challenging Indian fives to find in high grade. Collector demand has always been strong for Mint State survivors, with any offering thereof eagerly snapped up by specialists assembling high quality sets. They walk toward Father Flanagan’s Boys Home and the 1940s Pylon representing what would become Boys Town. Inscriptions include “BOYS TOWN,” “1917,” “2017,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “LIBERTY,” and “Saving Children.” Reverse: Features a present–day Boys Town neighborhood of homes where children are schooled and nurtured by caring families. Out of these homes come young adults who graduate from high school and the Boys Town program. Inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “Healing Families,” and “HALF DOLLAR.”

Series 1976 $2 Green Seal Dallas Green Seal Federal Reserve Note (FRN) Grades Select AU. On November 3, 1975, Secretary of the Treasury William E. Simon announced the reissuance of the $2 note as a cost-saving measure; the new $2 notes would be available from banks on April 13, 1976, Thomas Jefferson's birthday.[28] Series 1976 and onward $2 bills were partially redesigned and reissued as a Federal Reserve Note. The note retains the same portrait of Jefferson, and the basic design of the obverse remains unchanged since 1928. The treasury seal and serial numbers are printed in green ink, replacing the red used on the previous United States Note. Since the reintroduction of the note coincided with the United States Bicentennial, it was decided to use a bicentennial-themed design on the reverse. The bill was not issued specifically to celebrate the bicentennial, as is widely assumed. An engraved rendition (not an exact reproduction) of John Trumbull's Declaration of Independence replaced Monticello on the reverse. Beginning with Series 1995, all $2 notes have been produced at the Western Currency Facility in Fort Worth, Texas. An issue of Series 2003A $2 bills was printed from July to September 2006 for all twelve Federal Reserve Banks.

This note features the familiar portrait of Alexander Hamilton that was used on all of our $10 bills through 1999, and the back shows the US Treasury. This note does not have the familiar "In God We Trust" motto above the US Treasury, though, as that motto was not added until 1957. The Blue Seal is large and at right; a large blue "10" dominates the left side of the note.

1935A $1 Silver Certificate Hawaii WWII Emergency Currency Cool CC Block Grades f, fine. 1935a $1 Silver Certificate Hawaii, Signatures of Julian & Morgenthau Cool CC Block. It was the darkest days of World War II, just after Pearl Harbor. Everybody in Hawaii was sitting on pins and needles. Were the Japanese preparing a massive invasion of the islands? If they did invade, they could use the millions of dollars in currency on the islands to buy war material. To thwart this, these $1 Federal Reserve Notes were sent to the islands. Each has a large HAWAII printed on the reverse. If the Japanese did invade, the currency would be demonetized. After the threat passed, most of these "Hawaii" Notes were destroyed. Today they're hard to find.

This 1917 $1 note is the last large-sized legal tender bank note ever issued. It's referred to as a "Horseblanket Note," due to their large size. The obverse features Washington and a vignette of Columbus sighting America. The reverse shows a "sawhorse" design. Add in the bright red seal and serial numbers and you've got a miniature work of art. The nicest one we have ever been able to bring to auction. These notes are usually found in xf and lower. Finding higher grade ones can be a challenge.

The Proof coin is much more common as it has a mintage which is almost five times higher than the Uncirculated version. The 1990 Eisenhower Centennial Commemorative Silver Dollar was issued to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Dwight D. Eisenhower on October 14, 1890. The coin honors him as a Five Star General and the 34th President of the United States. This is the only US coin to feature two portraits of the same person on the same side of the coin. This example was graded Perfection ms70.

When notes are discovered that have been printed incorrectly (such as having the serial numbers upside down, etc.) the misprinted "error notes" are replaced with star notes because no two bills within a certain series can be produced with the same serial number. They are used to maintain a correct count of notes in a serial number run. By their nature, star notes are more scarce than notes with standard serial numbers and as such are widely collected by numismatists. Some of the highest prices paid for modern (post-1928) U.S. banknotes have been for star notes.

Up for Auction is a Consignment I have been talking about for the last few months, and I have finally secured. I have secured a collection of old 1960’s Las Vegas Casino Half Dollar Shot Gun Rolls from various Casinos. These Rolls contain 20 Half Dollars. They have tight ends and are wild!. I opened three rolls to examine the contents and what I found was mostly Circulated Walkers, a few Franklins and a Seated coin or two and a couple of Barbers. But after I opened the rolls, I wished I hadn’t as they were so cool as antique Las Vegas Half Rolls. I have only seen a handful of these ever. The consignee has given us some additional rolls. I have put 3 in each of the Independence auctions. We estimate the rolls to be worth $700-$900 each as a collectable antique, but if the roll is opened and has a rare date, who knows the value, a 1921 Walker even in low grade is worth over $500, and several other dates are worth over $200 each. But who knows, maybe a rare 1878-s Seated is inside. ($35k in g4), or an 1892-o Barber ($5k in G4). In any event the rolls themselves are amazing collectibles of a bygone era of the Rat pack and Las Vegas. From the rolls we have received there are 10 different casinos. Good Luck.

This means that out of aproxomatly 3.6 Billion 1928 Notes Printed less then 1% Were 1928D Series Notes. There are six different 1928 $1 silver certificates. They are easily identified by their series letter. They can be series of 1928, series of 1928A, 1928B, 1928C, 1928D, or 1928E.. .Series of 1928D one dollar silver certificates were only printed for the seven months between June 1933 and December 1933. This coincides with the period of time that WA Julian and WH Woodfin were in office together. Although other CC-Mint silver dollars have lower mintages (the 1881-CC and 1885-CC, for example), the title of rarest Carson City Mint Morgan dollar has long been held by the 1889-CC. A large cent-sized Flying Eagle pattern featuring a hooked-neck eagle, slanting 5s on the obverse, and ONE CENT in the center of the reverse surrounded by a thick laurel wreath similar to that of a Coronet cent. Struck in copper with a plain edge. Weight 98.46 grains, 99% copper, 0.4% gold. The other 0.6% is assumed to be various trace elements. The obverse of this lovely piece has rich orange color that has faded to medium brown with some splashes of blue. The reverse is brighter golden-orange.In 1854 the Mint started experimenting by producing small pattern cents in order to replace the Large cent coins. The 1855 J-167 Pattern Flying Eagle cent was one of the coin designs that the Mint struck as a possible replacement for the Large cent coins. The 1855 J-167 had a very similar design to the 1854 flying eagle pattern cents, but with some slight modifications, such as having different style 5’s on the date. The example at hand is the finest surviving example, with a stunning patina and beautiful eye appeal, a true coin worth owning. I have included a picture of The Finest Graded at PCGS, a PR65, which realized $9,106 in 2016. I think you will agree ours is more attractive. 2003A $2 Green Seal Philadelphia Green Seal Federal Reserve Note (FRN) Grades Gem++ CU. On+AI13:AJ14 November 3, 1975, Secretary of the Treasury William E. Simon announced the reissuance of the $2 note as a cost-saving measure; the new $2 notes would be available from banks on April 13, 1976, Thomas Jefferson's birthday.[28] Series 1976 and onward $2 bills were partially redesigned and reissued as a Federal Reserve Note. The note retains the same portrait of Jefferson, and the basic design of the obverse remains unchanged since 1928. The treasury seal and serial numbers are printed in green ink, replacing the red used on the previous United States Note. Since the reintroduction of the note coincided with the United States Bicentennial, it was decided to use a bicentennial-themed design on the reverse. The bill was not issued specifically to celebrate the bicenntenial, as is widely assumed. An engraved rendition (not an exact reproduction) of John Trumbull's Declaration of Independence replaced Monticello on the reverse. Beginning with Series 1995, all $2 notes have been produced at the Western Currency Facility in Fort Worth, Texas. An issue of Series 2003A $2 bills was printed from July to September 2006 for all twelve Federal Reserve Banks.

Each has a yellow seal on the front. If the Nazis did succeed to over run our expeditiary force, the currency would be demonetized. After the threat passed, most of these "North Africa" Notes were destroyed. Today they're hard to find.

This note features the familiar portrait of Alexander Hamilton that was used on all of our $10 bills through 1999, and the back shows the US Treasury. This note does not have the familiar "In God We Trust" motto above the US Treasury, though, as that motto was not added until 1957. The Blue Seal is large and at right; a large blue "10" dominates the left side of the note.

Per Ron Gutho PCGS:” This unusual variety shows 15 stars on the obverse instead of the usual 13. This was strictly an engraving error that occurred when the stars were placed too closely together. It is in no way related to the earliest U.S. coins that had varying number of stars. In those cases, the number of stars started at 13, then increased with the addition of each new state, but the number eventually reverted back to 13 as the designs became too crowded. By 1817, there were 18 states in the Union, thus there is no valid connection with the number 15.”

I have secured a collection of old 1960Õs Las Vegas Casino Half Dollar Shot Gun Rolls from various Casinos. These Rolls contain 20 Half Dollars. They have tight ends and are wild!. I opened three rolls to examine the contents and what I found was mostly Circulated Walkers, a few Franklins and a Seated coin or two and a couple of Barbers. But after I opened the rolls, I wished I hadnÕt as they were so cool as antique Las Vegas Half Rolls. I have only seen a handful of these ever. The consignee has given us some additional rolls. I have put 3 in each of the Independence auctions. We estimate the rolls to be worth $2000 each as a collectable antique, but if the roll is opened and has a rare date, who knows the value, a 1921 Walker even in low grade is worth over $500, and several other dates are worth over $200 each. But who knows, maybe a rare 1878-s Seated is inside. ($35k in g4), or an 1892-o Barber ($5k in G4). In any event the rolls themselves are amazing collectibles of a bygone era of the Rat pack and Las Vegas. From the rolls we have received there are 10 different casinos. Good Luck.

It was the darkest days of World War II, just after Pearl Harbor. Everybody in Hawaii was sitting on pins and needles. Were the Japanese preparing a massive invasion of the islands? If they did invade, they could use the millions of dollars in currency on the islands to buy war material. To thwart this, these $1 Federal Reserve Notes were sent to the islands. Each has a large HAWAII printed on the reverse. If the Japanese did invade, the currency would be demonetized. After the threat passed, most of these "Hawaii" Notes were destroyed. Today they're hard to find.

The Obverse was Designed by George Morgan and the Reverse was One of John Sinnock's First Designs. George Morgan was the Chief Engraver at the time of the US Mint and Sinnock would be his successor, so two U.S. Mint Directors Designed this Beautiful Commemorative! Points to check for wear include Lincoln’s Cheekbone, Jaw, Eyebrow and the Hair Above His Ear. On the Reverse, examine the Eagle’s Breast Feathers and the Grass Beneath its Left Claw.

When notes are discovered that have been printed incorrectly (such as having the serial numbers upside down, etc.) the misprinted "error notes" are replaced with star notes because no two bills within a certain series can be produced with the same serial number. They are used to maintain a correct count of notes in a serial number run. By their nature, star notes are more scarce than notes with standard serial numbers and as such are widely collected by numismatists. Some of the highest prices paid for modern (post-1928) U.S. banknotes have been for star notes. The note itself is a Silver Certificate. Silver Certificates were redeemable in Silver. One of their most distinctive qualities is the blue Treasury seal and serial numbers. These notes include an additional legend printed on the face that is not present on any other Federal Reserve notes. The legend states that Silver had been deposited in the Treasury and was payable on demand to the note’s bearer.

Out of about 65 Million Hawaii Notes Printed in all Denominations Only about 7% of them were $5 that makes the $5 Hawaii The lowest Mintaged Hawaii In the series and makes it the key date for the series.1934a $5 Silver Certificate Hawaii, Signatures of Julian & Morgenthau. It was the darkest days of World War II, just after Pearl Harbor. Everybody in Hawaii was sitting on pins and needles. Were the Japanese preparing a massive invasion of the islands? If they did invade, they could use the millions of dollars in currency on the islands to buy war material. To thwart this, these $5 Federal Reserve Notes were sent to the islands. Each has a large HAWAII printed on the reverse. If the Japanese did invade, the currency would be demonetized. After the threat passed, most of these "Hawaii" Notes were destroyed. Today they're hard to find.

Exceptionally mark-free for the grade, and well struck for the issue.The Hawaiian commemorative half dollar, struck to commemorate the sesquicentennial (150th anniversary) of Captain Cook's landing in the Hawaiian Islands in 1778, was a rousing success. Unlike many other silver commemoratives, especially those struck in the "abusive" commemorative era of 1935-1939, the Hawaiian was a legitimate anniversary, a relatively low mintage coin, and a "honestly" distributed issue. The Hawaiian halves were sold at an issue price of $2 by the Bank of Hawaii. This attractively toned and overall sharply defined example is sure to have no difficulty finding its way into an advanced collection of America's favorite silver dollar type. The 1893-S is an issue that needs no introduction in today's market, and its fame is such that its desirability transcends the Morgan dollar series. With only 100,000 pieces produced this is the lowest mintage circulation strike silver dollar of its type. While many of these coins were likely melted under terms of the 1918 Pittman Act, thousands were released into commercial channels. The latter probably happened no later than the earliest decades of the 20th century, for the typical example offered in today's market is well worn in grades such as Fine and VF. The surfaces are virtually brilliant, and present as such at most viewing angles, although upon closer inspection one will discern wisps of faint champagne-gold iridescence. The strike is uncommonly sharp by the standards of the issuing Mint, and the level of preservation is nothing short of remarkable in an 1854-O quarter. This is one of only two New Orleans Mint issues of the Arrows, No Motto Liberty Seated quarter type, and it is more plentiful than the 1855-O in all grades. On the other hand, the 1854-O is far rarer than the 1854, and it is also scarcer than the 1855. HIGHLIGHT OF THE ENTIRE AUCTION - Up for Auction is the Finest Known s-236 and a contender for the 5th Finest known in the entire date. It is also one of only 10 known Red Brown examples in the entire 1802 date surviving. Breen Die State VII, a later middle die state, with the reverse cracked through the terminal leaves, but with no evidence of the retained cud or rim break on ST, yet the heavy clash marks have been created. Known as the Draped Bust Liberty design, this style of cent has long been a favorite of collectors. In fact, the famous numismatist Howard R. Newcomb authored an entire book on just the Draped Bust Cents of 1801, 1802 and 1803! Famed American painter Gilbert Stuart (whose portrait of George Washington is found on the one-dollar bill) is credited with this bust of Liberty, though the actual modeling in relief was performed by the U.S. Mint's John Eckstein. It was then copied by skilled Chief Engraver Robert Scot. Debuting on the silver dollar in the fall of 1795, it was ultimately translated to all of the lesser denominations. The first cents of this type appeared in July of 1796. The Mint was threatened with closure during the early 1800's, and it was particularly careful to be thrifty in its use of dies. As a consequence, 1802 cents were not particularly well made, yet this lovely specimen is quite superior to its typical contemporaries. Though its reverse die broke over the letters states, this fine example is still well struck and richly lustrous. A liberal amount of its mint red color is still evident, a very rare condition for cents of this vintage. I wish you good Luck in obtaining the only Red Brown Draped Bust of any date we have ever offered and one of the very few Mint state bust cents we have ever brought to auction. 2003A $2 Green Seal New York Green Seal Federal Reserve Note (FRN) Grades Gem++ CU. On+AI13:AJ14 November 3, 1975, Secretary of the Treasury William E. Simon announced the reissuance of the $2 note as a cost-saving measure; the new $2 notes would be available from banks on April 13, 1976, Thomas Jefferson's birthday.[28] Series 1976 and onward $2 bills were partially redesigned and reissued as a Federal Reserve Note. The note retains the same portrait of Jefferson, and the basic design of the obverse remains unchanged since 1928. The treasury seal and serial numbers are printed in green ink, replacing the red used on the previous United States Note. Since the reintroduction of the note coincided with the United States Bicentennial, it was decided to use a bicentennial-themed design on the reverse. The bill was not issued specifically to celebrate the bicenntenial, as is widely assumed. An engraved rendition (not an exact reproduction) of John Trumbull's Declaration of Independence replaced Monticello on the reverse. Beginning with Series 1995, all $2 notes have been produced at the Western Currency Facility in Fort Worth, Texas. An issue of Series 2003A $2 bills was printed from July to September 2006 for all twelve Federal Reserve Banks.
