1844 Harpers Ferry Rifle Lot #71 (Sale Order 71 of 421) This rifle is marked "Harpers Ferry 1844" just behind the hammer (it is difficult to make out in pictures). We were told by the consignor that it was used by Native Americans in the 1800's, which is why it features early brass tacs all over it. This beautiful table features all wooden pegged construction, a stretcher base, and pad feet. The maple on top is held down with large hand forged nails and is cracked but could be easily repaired to its former glory. If you look on the underside of the top you can see a hint of the red paint that used to be there along with marks from where they would have attached various kitchen tools. Antique Masonic Knights of Templar Sword and Scabbard Lot #157 (Sale Order 157 of 421) This antique Masonic Knights of Templar Sword comes with its Scabbard, and is estimated to be from the late 19th Century. It is highly detailed on both the scabbard and even on the blade itself. It has the original owners name, "George H. Davis", inscribed on both the blade and scabbard, as shown. On the base of the blade it is embossed "Germany" and just above that it is inscribed "The Henderson Ames Co. Kalamazoo Mich"; along the back of the blade is highly detailed as well-depicting a war scene across much of the blade. On the scabbard, encircling the cross and crown, it reads "Be Thou Faithful Unto Death And I Will Give Thee A Crown Of Life". "Jocko" the Lawn Jockey Hitching Post Circa 1860's Lot #167 (Sale Order 167 of 421) This very early Lawn Jockey Hitching Post Circa 1860's was used to hold colored lanterns which signaled that the house was a "safe house" and part of the network which was safe to escaping slaves. It is known to have been on the grounds of the former Walker Homestead of Topsham ME which provided freedom seekers during the American Civil War with access to the Underground Railroad network; when the building was demolished in 1960 revealed two tunnels in the north and south cellar wall leading to two different houses, one of a General. This unique piece of history has maintained most of its original state, missing just the rim of its hat, and still has much of its color still visible!
