Note the line glaze over salt glaze which throws a great glaze with beautiful runs. Three nice kiln drips on the jug, also has bloating from the clay not being milled throughly. Note that is part of the process and is sometimes present in southern pottery. Condition basically mint. 13" Tall

Exceptional Alabama 1840-60 Churn 4 Gallon That bears a exceptional celadon & modified lime glaze and with lime color background and deep dark green bold runs all over the jar. Also has some great iron burst. This is possible a Oxford Ala. piece with this new discovery being found a short while ago with shards found with same glaze. Also possibly came from Randolph Co. area. Condition is outstanding shows signs of kiln stacking on the rim of the jar. Has a drying or firing line at base, note not a hairline and holds 180 degree water. No repairs and fresh out of a private North Ga. collection. Fine addition to any collection. 16" Tall.

Early Alabama Alkaline glazed pitcher circa 1840-60's from Randolph Co. Alabama. This is just a great and rare ball form pitcher. It has a nice green alkaline glaze that on one side is over fired and the other is just fantastic lively glaze. Strong pulled handle that shows the potters true talents. Overall very well potted and glazed with very good condition one minor rim nick (see pictures ) and a small very tight firing line at base, please not this does not go through the pitcher and is water tight. Possibly Urssey shop not out of the question. Either way a fine example of Alabama stoneware and will make a great addition to any collection. 10" Tall x 7" with at base.

Stellar Crawford Co. Pitcher One Gallon This is just one fine example of Crawford Co. stoneware where you have form, glaze and great condition. This being a pitcher makes it more soughtafter. Being in such great condition, with only one minor glaze chip in rim. Also No cracks or repairs. Note it does have a piece of small kiln debris on one side, not distracting at all. Glaze is close to good as it gets with strong bold paintrock and modified lime glaze, that on one side has the electric blue runs at the bottom half. Very well potted and overall a wonderful piece. Classic Middle Ga. Pottery Shop possibly Billy Merritt or Bill Bryant, either way you simply can't go wrong with this piece. Standing 10 1/4" Tall

1850's Crawford Co. 4gal Long Family Jar. Early Jar with iron wash glaze that has two concentric lines around the jar. This is a unusual size being four gallons, we have never had form come up at Cagle Auction. We had discussed this being a large bean pot or a meat storage jar, whi knows. This is just a outstanding ealy form and the double handles just really set this jar off. Also note the 4 is different than what you see that are typically stamped on the handle of Crawford pieces, which leads us to belive these were used at early eastern Crawford Co. pottery sites. Again this is a must for any southern pottery collector. Condition is outstanding with no damage. Private Georgia collection. 12 1/2" Tall x 10 1/4" Width at base.

David Steinheimer Saloon Liquor Jug Important one gallon Saloon jug that is from Atlanta, 40 Wall St. He was a local business man with ties in the saloon and liquor distribution in the Atlanta area from 1891 - 1896. The jug is more than likely made at Howell Mill pottery site. The jug has a salt over slip glaze with a unique salty colored runs. Very clear and legible stamp. Condition is near mint with a few minor glaze flakes from age and normal use. Highly sought after stamp, this is the first example we have ever offered. Private North Ga. collection. 10" Tall.

Important T.B. Cofield Alkaline glazed Jug. One gallon with a rich green alkaline glaze that is circa 1860s-70s he listed as a potter in Atlanta. This is the father of Thomas M. Cofield, who is also a listed Atlanta area potter. This is the only known example of a Thomas B. Cofield in alkaline glaze. This is no doubt museum quality and a prized piece by any Southern Stoneware collector. All I can say is ( "Find Another One" ) Has a few rim nicks from normal use. Again just a exceptional Atlanta piece. 10" Tall.
