1840-60s Alabama Pitcher Scarce Form Lot #108 (Sale Order 12 of 73) Early Alabama Alkaline glazed pitcher circa 1840-60's from Randolph Co. Alabama. This is just a great and rare ball form pitcher. It has a nice green alkaline glaze that on one side is over fired and the other is just fantastic lively glaze. Strong pulled handle that shows the potters true talents. Overall very well potted and glazed with very good condition one minor rim nick (see pictures ) and a small very tight firing line at base, please not this does not go through the pitcher and is water tight. Possibly Urssey shop not out of the question. Either way a fine example of Alabama stoneware and will make a great addition to any collection. 10" Tall x 7" with at base.

This is a unusual size being four gallons, we have never had form come up at Cagle Auction. We had discussed this being a large bean pot or a meat storage jar, whi knows. This is just a outstanding ealy form and the double handles just really set this jar off. Also note the 4 is different than what you see that are typically stamped on the handle of Crawford pieces, which leads us to belive these were used at early eastern Crawford Co. pottery sites. Born 1870 - 1929 and is buried at Macedonia Cemetery. This is the Only known example signed by Homer Burns, who potted with E.L. Stork in Orange Ga. and you see alot of Storks traight's on this jug. Very heavy and well potted jug. Slip glaze with some salt traces. Again a very important jug due to rarity. 5 gallons and has a missing handle and rim chips. Very note worthy of a restoration. No cracks.

Classic Cheever loop handles and lug handle. Also has 4 scratched into the shoulder under lug handle. Extremely well potted form, from the period circa 1940s. Overall this is a extremely eye appealing churn, and is fresh barn find in Cherokee Co. Ga. Condition is one glaze chip on lifter handle.
