1870's US Fractional Currency 25¢ Fourth Issue Fr-1231 Washington Grades f+ Lot #26 (Sale Order 26 of 634) 1870's US Fractional Currency 25¢ Fourth Issue Fr-1231 Washington Grades f+. Fractional or postage currency has a rich history. At the beginning of the Civil War people starting hoarding coins for their precious metal content. Coins became difficult to find because of the hoarding. People started to try to use stamps instead of coins as a means of commerce. The government decided to help ease the hoarding issue by issuing “paper coins” also known as postage currency or fractional currency. Fractional currency was first issued on August 21, 1862 and they were last issued on February 15, 1876. Three cents, five cents, ten cents, twenty-five cents, and fifty cents notes were all issued. Fractional currency is physically smaller than other United States money. It also does not have a serial number.

***Auction Highlight*** Old Casino 50c Roll $10 Halves Aladdin Hotel Vegas 1917 Walker & 'O' Barber Lot #74 (Sale Order 70 of 634) ***Auction Highlight*** Old Casino 50c Roll $10 Halves Aladdin Hotel Vegas 1917 Walker & 'O' Barber Ends. Up for auction is a Consignment I have secured a collection of old 1960’s Las Vegas Casino Half Dollar Shot Gun Rolls from various Casinos. These Rolls contain 20 Half Dollars. They have tight ends and are wild!. I opened three rolls to examine the contents and what I found was mostly Circulated Walkers, a few Franklins and a Seated coin or two and a couple of Barbers. But after I opened the rolls, I wished I hadn’t as they were so cool as antique Las Vegas Half Rolls. I have only seen a handful of these ever. The consignee has given us some additional rolls. We estimate the rolls to be worth $2000 each as a collectable antique, but if the roll is opened and has a rare date, who knows the value, a 1921 Walker even in low grade is worth over $500, and several other dates are worth over $200 each. But who knows, maybe a rare 1878-s Seated is inside. ($35k in g4), or an 1892-o Barber ($5k in G4). In any event the rolls themselves are amazing collectibles of a bygone era of the Rat pack and Las Vegas. From the rolls we have received there are 10 different casinos. Good Luck.

1927-p Peace Dollar $1 Grades Choice Unc Lot #86 (Sale Order 81 of 634) 1927-p Peace Dollar $1 Grades Choice Unc. The 27-p is the big sleeper of numismatics in my opinion. It has the 2nd lowest mintage in the whole Peace dollar series. Lower than the 34-s, the 21-p, yet it does not command its proper value. Good coin to own multiple of and save, in my opinion, but if you've been coming to our auctions for a while you will have seen that this has always been my opinion.

***Auction Highlight*** 1883 Hawaii Half Dollar 50c Graded Choice AU By USCG (fc) Lot #88 (Sale Order 83 of 634) ***Auction Highlight*** 1883 Hawaii Half Dollar 50c Graded Choice AU By USCG. This is a satiny example with very light rub at the high points. The devices are well-struck, and each side exhibits a hint of light champagne tinting. With a small mintage of only 700,000 pieces, and the vast majority melted after it gained territory status, The 1883 Hawaii half dollar is quite scarce today, much more so than the Quarter or Dime. The 1883 Hawaiian "Hapalua" was struck at the San Francisco Mint on U.S. Half Dollar planchets. Many were redeemed and melted after Hawaii acquired U.S. territorial status Per Maurice Gould and Kenneth Bressett writing in Hawaiian Coins, Tokens, and Paper Money (1961): "In 1883, Claus Spreckels, a banker, sugar planter, and power behind the throne, approached the King on the subject of having a silver coinage struck for the Islands. Application was made by the Hawaiian Government for the coinage at the San Francisco mint, of one million dollars in silver denominations to correspond with the silver coins of the United States of America in fineness and weight, regulations of the 9th of November, 1883, by the Secretary of the United States Treasury." Ultimately, 700,000 Hawaiian half dollars were struck in 1883 A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win Coin

The Philadelphia Mint and its branches did not begin striking a gold dollar until 1849. Obviously, the Bechtler family recognized a need for such a small gold piece many years earlier, and began production of their own gold dollars in the early 1830s. The Bechtler pieces were the first gold dollars coined in the United States. This piece, struck from bulged dies, is a rare and desirable Mint State example with frosty green-gold patina, light hairlines, and exceptional eye appeal. ***Auction Highlight*** 1884-s Morgan Dollar $1 Graded BU+ By USCG (fc) Lot #115 (Sale Order 110 of 634) ***Auction Highlight*** 1884-s Morgan Dollar $1 Graded BU+ By USCG. This is an attractive and desirable Uncirculated specimen of an eagerly sought Morgan dollar. Essentially untoned with a somewhat reflective appearance. Struck slightly soft in the centers. The 1884-S is one of the most famous condition rarities in the Morgan dollar series. Though 3.2 million pieces were struck -- a generous total for the type -- the vast majority were spent and spent again in local commerce, and today the typical grade may be EF or AU, with many survivors well below those grades. The scarcity and value of this issue increases exponentially in Mint State, where it becomes a significant challenge for advanced Morgan specialists. Clearly the present offering represents an important opportunity in today's market. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

Up for auction is an ultra rare, possibly only known example of a PROOF Morgan Dollar with a certified Mint Error. Proof coins, especially Limited Proof runs from the 1800’s, were made under special care and with attention to detail and in creating a “perfect strike”. To date no Mint Error Proof Morgan has been certified, nor any sold at auction, until today. Long held in a private collection, this 1894 Morgan Proof, to my knowledge, has never before been sold, having been passed down from the original owner, who it is believed to have been a senior Philadelphia Mint Director. Graded MINT ERROR PF64 by NGC. I am pleased to be able to bring this numismatic rarity to you today. I wish you good luck.

A smallish mintage of 1.2 million Morgan dollars was accomplished at the San Francisco Mint in 1892 and few high-quality examples were saved by contemporary collectors. As a result, The 1892-S is the second-rarest Morgan dollar in high grade, behind the 1893-S. This attractive Choice AU specimen shows just a trace of wear on the sharply detailed design elements and the lightly abraded surfaces are blanketed in shades of lavender-gray toning, with a few flashes of emerald-green. ***Auction Highlight*** 1861-p Gold Liberty Double Eagle $20 Graded ms61 By SEGS (fc) Lot #126 (Sale Order 120 of 634) ***Auction Highlight*** 1861-p Gold Liberty Double Eagle $20 Graded ms61 By SEGS. A frosty and undeniably original example, both sides are bathed in lovely rose-orange patina. Beginning in 1861, gold coins were extensively hoarded in anticipation of economic difficulties pursuant to the armed conflict between the states. Silver coins were hoarded as well, beginning in the spring of 1862, following the introduction of Legal Tender notes that were not redeemable in gold or silver coins. The public's confidence in the economy wasn't restored until the late 1870s. During this period the government responded to the disappearance of specie by printing and issuing paper money, with denominations ranging from three cents up to $5,000; shortly thereafter -- in 1863 -- the $10,000 denomination was also added. Although gold and silver coins disappeared from circulation in the East and Midwest, they continued to circulate unabated on the Pacific Coast, where Legal Tender notes were accepted only at a deep discount. With the bombardment of Fort Sumter in April 1861 and the beginning of the Civil War, the North needed about $80 million to fund the war effort. The production of 2,976,452 double eagles at the Philadelphia Mint and 768,000 additional examples at the San Francisco Mint resulted in a combined production at those facilities of 3,744,452 $20 coins, more than had been produced since the inception of the double eagle series in 1850, or that would be coined in any single year for over 40 years to come. The resulting $74.8 million face value of this denomination alone went far in meeting the federal government's needs for that year. However, with about $260 million required by the North in 1862, and even more in the war years that followed, gold production could not come close to those levels. Financial elasticity was possible only by returning to a federally issued paper currency, the Demand Notes of 1861 followed by the Legal Tender or "greenback" notes of 1862. They were federal paper not seen in quantity since the American Revolution.Including coins recovered by Odyssey Marine Exploration from the wreck of the S.S. Republic, lost in 1865, we estimate that about 1,000 Mint State 1861 double eagles have survived to the present time. Scarce from a market availability standpoint, and possessed of an appearance that does not suggest a sunken treasure find, our offering of this premium quality MS-61 represents a fleeting bidding opportunity for the astute double eagle collector.

***Auction Highlight*** 1916-s Walking Liberty Half Dollar 50c Graded ms65 By SEGS (fc) Lot #127 (Sale Order 121 of 634) ***Auction Highlight*** 1916-s Walking Liberty Half Dollar 50c Graded ms65 By SEGS. The 1916-S (508,000 coins) has the lowest mintage of the three first-year Walking Liberty half dollar issues, and is by extension the scarcest in high grade. This Premium Gem example ranks among the the finer-known survivors, and only twenty or so are certified higher. Attractively toned surfaces display vibrant mint frost that combines with a pale overlay champagne color on each side, accented by splashes of olive-green and pale lilac. A few daubs of iridescent orange, magenta, and forest-green patina occurs peripherally. The eye appeal and technical quality make for an ideal Set acquisition A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

The 1879-S is among the most popular issues in the Morgan dollar series for type collectors. High-grade examples are often available, and the eye appeal of such pieces is usually outstanding. This MS68 coin does not disappoint. It is among the finest pieces certified, and it surpasses most of its peers in appeal. Sharp devices and virtually flawless, frosty surfaces yield dazzling cartwheel luster and semi reflective fields. Additionally a very cool, never before encountered broken digit mint error. ***Auction Highlight*** 1912-p Gold Indian Quarter Eagle $2 1/2 Graded ms64 By SEGS (fc) Lot #136 (Sale Order 129 of 634) ***Auction Highlight*** 1912-p Gold Indian Quarter Eagle $2 1/2 Graded ms64 By SEGS. Vivid reddish-rose iridescence blends with warmer orange-apricot patina. Sharply struck with intense mint luster. The preferred approach to collecting gold coins in the early part of the last century was to acquire a Proof as representative example for a particular year. In 1912, the Sandblast Proof half eagles produced that year were enough to satisfy the needs of the numismatic community, leaving the 790,000 coins struck for circulation to fend for themselves in everyday commerce. It was not until the 1950s that interest began to grow for Mint State specimens, but by then the great Treasury melts had occurred and what coins were left were abraded from extended periods of time spent in bags. Indian half eagles with their unique design elements were particularly prone to surface issues, making them especially arduous to find in the finest grades. The 1912 as an issue was especially impacted and while low end Uncirculated examples may be found with ease, above MS-64 the issue is an important condition rarity. Once underappreciated for its rarity in the finer Mint State grades, now this issue is considered among the scarcest in its series from the Philadelphia Mint. For connoisseurs seeking to assemble a high quality assemblage of gold coins from this period, this is indeed a rare opportunity. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away Coin

Both sides are awash in billowy mint frost, the texture expectably smooth for the assigned grade. The Obverse is essentially untoned, while the reverse is evenly toned in a golden hue. Brilliant, boldly struck and a delight to behold. Though struck to a quantity of 8,830,000 examples and well represented in government releases during the 20th century, the 1900 dollar becomes conditionally scarce at the uppermost reaches of Superb Gem preservation. This is one of the finest known examples. Tied for 10th finest known. I have included two examples for your comparison. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

The Silver Story - Treasure Album Lot #152 (Sale Order 145 of 634) The Silver Story - Treasure Album. The Silver Story . .. This treasure album represents a look at a bygone era, a time when the average U.S. citizen could reach into his pocket and get a silver coin. June of 1968 will always be remembered as the official time when Uncle Sam decreed that his silver certificates were no longer redeemable for silver. The tiny drops of silver granules which a citizen could get only by traveling to the San Francisco or New York Assay Office were his redemption fulfillment. No mail transactions were allowed so the number of redeemable certificates were minimal until the dealer in silver got into the story. By offering a bonus ranging from 50 percent for a certificate, the dealers were able to redeem many millions of the bills. In turn, they got bars of silver and then resold them for a minimal profit in a fluctuating market. This great collection contains Two Near gem Morgan & Peace Dollars, a CU Silver certificate and a troy ounce bar of silver.

1863 US Fractional Currency 25c Second Issue fr-1283 Washington In Oval Grades Choice AU Lot #154 (Sale Order 147 of 634) 1863 US Fractional Currency 25c Second Issue fr-1283 Washington In Oval Grades Choice AU.

1870's US Fractional Currency 10¢ Fourth Issue Fr-1258 Grades f+ Lot #250 (Sale Order 224 of 634) 1870's US Fractional Currency 10¢ Fourth Issue Fr-1258 Grades f+.

***Auction Highlight*** Old Casino 50c Roll $10 Halves Stardust Hotel Vegas 1918 Walker & 'O' Barber Lot #346 (Sale Order 314 of 634) ***Auction Highlight*** Old Casino 50c Roll $10 Halves Stardust Hotel Vegas 1918 Walker & 'O' Barber Ends. Good Luck.

***Auction Highlight*** 1897-p Top POP Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms66 DMPL BY SEGS (fc) Lot #349 (Sale Order 317 of 634) ***Auction Highlight*** 1897-p Top POP Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms66 DMPL BY SEGS. Although we have offered quite a number of Gem Deep Mirror Proof like examples of this available (but conditionally elusive) date in our past auctions, this is the first Premium Gem 1897 with Deep Mirror Proof like certification that we have handled. That is not totally surprising, as the present piece is one of only two so graded, and there are none finer. As expected, this brilliant silver-white piece offers blindingly radiant fields and thick mint frost on the devices. Even for a Premium Gem coin, the surfaces are quite appealing and essentially pristine. The strike is excellent, further contributing to the obvious, over-the-top eye appeal. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

To quote David Hall from PCGS: The 1914-D is quite rare in circulated grades and is one of the semi-keys dates in the Buffalo nickel series. There were appparently some examples saved in mint state condition although scarce, choice and gem specimens can be obtained. In gem MS65 or better condition, the 1914-D is about equal in rarity to the 1913-D Type 2 and 1915-D.

***Auction Highlight*** 1856 Three Dollar Gold 3 Graded ms63 details By SEGS (fc) Lot #356 (Sale Order 324 of 634) ***Auction Highlight*** 1856 Three Dollar Gold 3 Graded ms63 details By SEGS. Endearing Choice surfaces are fully lustrous in a softly frosted texture, but with faint hairlines on the obverse. Further adorned with handsome orange-gold patina, this lovely coin also sports sharp to full striking detail throughout the design. As a Philadelphia Mint issue situated near the beginning of the series, the 1856 is often regarded as one of the more readily obtainable three-dollar gold pieces in today's market. While this is true of circulated examples, the issue is actually quite scarce and underrated in Mint State, especially relative to the 1854 and 1855, and to say nothing of the 1874 or 1878. Definitely a find for the astute gold specialist.

***Auction Highlight*** 1878-cc Trade Dollar $1 Graded au58+ By SEGS (fc) Lot #359 (Sale Order 327 of 634) ***Auction Highlight*** 1878-cc Trade Dollar $1 Graded au58+ By SEGS. Unlike the Philadelphia Mint, the Carson City facility managed a small production of Trade dollars before the denomination was abolished by Treasury Secretary John Sherman on February 22, 1878. Nevada mint officials struck 56,000 pieces in January and 41,000 examples during the first three weeks in February for a total mintage of 97,000 coins. That total stands as the lowest in the Trade dollar series, making the 1878-CC a perennially in-demand issue. This piece is as close to Mint State as one could hope to find without crossing that threshold. Wear is virtually unseen, and any softness on Liberty's head or the eagle's wingtips is a reflection of strike rather than friction. The stars, olive leaves, feathers, and talons are notably well-struck. Delicately toned lilac-gray surfaces display minimal abrasions with glints of original luster in the recesses. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

1864 L Indian Cent 1c Grades Choice AU Lot #403 (Sale Order 371 of 634) 1864 L Indian Cent 1c Grades Choice AU. Very scarce 1864 L on ribbon Indian cent variety. According to David Hall, “The 1864-L is scarce in circulated grades and very scarce in mint state. However, its price has as much to do with its popularity and importance to collectors as it does with its scarcity. All 1864-L Indian cents have a pointed bust on Ms. Liberty, while the no L’s have a rounded bust. So sometimes low grades are designated (correctly) as L’s even if you can't really see the L.

A very well margined example of this high denomination first issue type that has rich green ink colors and terrific eye appeal. The print quality is sharp with the back design being well centered.

I5 R5 Morgan $1 Graded Choice AU/BU Slider+ By USCG. A Top 100 Variety. This piece is only a whisper away from Mint State, showing just a touch of high-point rub over the silvery surfaces. The strike is a typical O-mint one, with weakness on the hair over the ear, but there are few contact marks of any significance. The Hot Lips is seldom seen in finer grades. January 1st, 1863 $2 State of Georgia, Milledgevill CR-11a Grades vg details Lot #418 (Sale Order 385 of 634) January 1st, 1863 $2 State of Georgia, Milledgevill CR-11a Grades vg details. After the Civil War broke out in 1861, the newly established Confederate government began to issue it's own money as legal tender to the citizens of the South. The gamble was that if the South won the war, the money would be redeemable. The 1st note from the Government of the Confederate States of America was issued in April of 1861. From then on, notes were issued on through 1864. Almost every Confederate note was painstakingly hand signed and numbered. It is not uncommon for these notes to have uneven, or rough borders since scissors or shears were used to hastily cut the sheets of notes apart.

1862 $100 Confederate Note, T-39 Richmond, Virginia Grades vf++ Lot #570 (Sale Order 509 of 634) 1862 $100 Confederate Note, T-39 Richmond, Virginia Grades vf++. High-denomination $100 Confederate Notes are in great demand among collectors and history buffs alike. Carefully preserved for over 155 years since the Civil War. This was the first interest bearing $100 note to be issued in large quantities by the Confederacy. They paid a 7.3% annual interest rate; double that of the First Series notes of Montgomery and Richmond. Some were issued by agents by hand, and their signatures—and sometimes the place of issue—are written on the backs. Some T-39s also have interest paid stamps on the backs indicating that the interest was collected by the bearer. The notes have a popular “Train” vignette on the front, with easily visible “straight steam” (all white) coming out of the smokestack. To the left is a vignette of a milkmaid. Once thought to be an apple, the object in her left hand above her head is most likely the handle of the bucket on her head. These notes were payable six months after the ratification of a Treaty of Peace between the Confederate States and United States and were not fundable.

Philadelphia produced just 93 proof quarter eagles in 1890, and experts estimate that fewer than half of those pieces survive in any grade today. ***Auction Highlight*** 1901-p Morgan Dollar $1 Graded Select Unc By USCG (fc) Lot #593 (Sale Order 532 of 634) ***Auction Highlight*** 1901-p Morgan Dollar $1 Graded Select Unc By USCG. The 1901 Morgan dollar is much more elusive than its mintage of more than 6.9 million pieces would suggest, especially in high grade. Most coins not released into circulation were probably melted in 1918, under the provisions of the Pittman Act. This impressive MS62 example is nicely detailed and highly lustrous, with lightly marked surfaces that show no noticeable toning. Flashy is the best way to describe this terrific example. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** 1921-p Mercury Dime 10c Graded Select Unc FSB By USCG (fc) Lot #594 (Sale Order 533 of 634) ***Auction Highlight*** 1921-p Mercury Dime 10c Graded Select Unc FSB By USCG. The 1921 is one of the lower mintage issue of the type with only 1,230,000 pieces struck. Demand for circulating coinage fell off during the early 1920s as the American economy stumbled from the boom of World War I back to a peacetime footing. Additionally, the mints were busy striking millions of Morgan silver dollars, the Philadelphia Mint also adding a few of the new Peace dollars before the end of the year. Mint State survivors are scarce. An undeniable condition rarity. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away Coin

***Auction Highlight*** 1862-p S.S. Republic Gold Liberty Eagle $10 Graded ms61 By SEGS (fc) Lot #595 (Sale Order 534 of 634) ***Auction Highlight*** 1862-p S.S. Republic Gold Liberty Eagle $10 Graded ms61 By SEGS. Ex: S.S. Republic. The 1862 Liberty eagle claims a low mintage of just 10,960 pieces and high-grade specimens were almost impossible to locate before the recovery of the S.S. Republic. The Republic left New York on October 18, 1865, bound for New Orleans. According to her captain, she was carrying passengers and a cargo of $400,000 in coins. The city of New Orleans, captured largely intact by the Union in 1862, had been the southern hub of Federal war efforts and was a thriving, busy city – but due to war, "hard money" (or gold and silver coin) was in very short supply. On the fifth day of her voyage, a hurricane off the coast of Georgia proved too strong for the ship. By evening, her hull was leaking so badly that the fire in the boiler was extinguished, and she stalled in heavy seas, taking on water faster than her crew and passengers could bail her. At 4 pm on October 25, 1865, she sank. The passengers and crew escaped in four lifeboats and a makeshift raft, but 40-foot seas throughout the night made keeping them afloat a serious challenge. It was not until two days later, on October 27 that the survivors, now desperate with thirst, were found by the sailing ship Horace Beals. On October 29, the steamer General Hooker had been sent to look for the Republic, and rendezvoused with Horace Beals. The passengers were transferred and taken to Charleston. Most of the passengers and crew survived, although several were lost on the raft before they could be rescued. All the coins were lost. In August 2003, the wreck of the Republic was located by Odyssey Marine Exploration, Inc., a commercial archaeology company in Tampa, Florida. She was found about 100 miles southeast of Savannah, Georgia, in about 1,700 feet of water. A salvage effort recovered about one-third of the rare 19th-century gold and silver coins carried aboard, worth an estimated $75 million. The coin offered here features well-detailed design elements with just a touch of softness on some of the stars. The brightly lustrous surfaces have an attractive greenish-gold tint and a scattering of minor contact marks on both sides explains the grade. On the plus side, it has highly reflective fields that enhance the bright golden luster, it is sharply struck, and most importantly is strictly free of any traces of wear that would lower it to the AU level. This is the finest certified 1862 Eagle that we have handled in recent memory, and is likely to be a fleeting opportunity for the astute specialist who recognizes the importance of this rarity in Mint State grade. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

Morgan Dollar $1 Graded vf30 By SEGS. 0 Pleasing silver gray surfaces retain flickers of original luster in the protected areas around the devices. Overall detail is suitably bold for a mid grade Morgan dollar, the eye appeal further enhanced by whispers of reddish-gold iridescence here and there around the peripheries. The key date 1893-S boasts the lowest circulation strike mintage in its series with just 100,000 coins produced, survivors eagerly sought in all grades.

***Auction Highlight*** 1890-p TOP POP Morgan Dollar $1 Graded GEM+ Unc By USCG (fc) Lot #598 (Sale Order 537 of 634) ***Auction Highlight*** 1890-p TOP POP Morgan Dollar $1 Graded GEM+ Unc By USCG. The Sherman Silver Purchase Act, passed in July 1890, replaced the Bland-Allison Act as the authorizing legislation for the Morgan silver dollar. The law provided for the purchase of some 54 million troy ounces of silver annually from Western mining interests. As could be expected with such a supply of bullion, silver dollar production in 1890 was substantial throughout the year, with more than 16 million coins ultimately produced. These were paid out gradually over many years, with the final distribution being in the Treasury releases of the early 1960s. Careless preservation, then, ended up being a major factor in the rarity of high-grade examples, as the date is readily available in grades through MS64, but is exceedingly rare at the Premium Gem level. This representative displays bold design elements and nearly unabraded, frosty surfaces. Faint traces of light golden color accent otherwise brilliant surfaces, giving this piece seemingly unrivaled appeal for the issue. I have included another ms66 for your comparison. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** 1890-cc Vam 4 Top 100 I5 R5 Tailbar Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms65 By SEGS (fc Lot #601 (Sale Order 540 of 634) ***Auction Highlight*** 1890-cc Vam 4 Top 100 I5 R5 Tailbar Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms65 By SEGS. This GEM has a lot going for it. First it is among the five FINEST graded examples of this very popular Morgan Dollar variety; only a single MS65+ is certified finer. The luster displays lively swirling cartwheels over a semi-PL texture on the reverse. Blast white, there is nothing to disturb the wonderful eye appeal. While there are many Morgan dollar varieties, many of them are very minor and esoteric, needing a strong glass to identify, the Tail Bar is visible by the naked eye and is often included in advanced sets of Morgans. We have included two other ms65 Examples for your comparison, included the last to sell, the ex. Jack Lee Example that realized $25,850 in June of 2017. Clearly this is a special coin for the advanced CC collector, and we anticipate strong bidding. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. ***Auction Highlight*** **Star Note** 1891 Large Size $1 Treasury Note Edwin M Stanton Fr-351. Tillm Lot #602 (Sale Order 541 of 634) ***Auction Highlight*** **Star Note** 1891 Large Size $1 Treasury Note Edwin M Stanton Fr-351. Tillman-Morgan Sig Grades vf++. Treasury notes were only printed in 1890 and 1891. Some notes in the 1860s did say “treasury note” on them. However, those are not true treasury notes. These are also sometimes called 1891 $1 coin notes. 1890 and 1891 $1 treasury notes look very similar at first glance. However, there are differences in the seal type and color. The back of the 1891 $1 specimen has a lot more white space. Like many large size currency notes from the late 1800s, the series of 1891 $1 treasury note has taken on a nickname based on the person featured on it. Many collectors simply call this a “Stanton” note. Edwin M Stanton is the bearded man on the left hand side of the bill.

Warmly patinated golden-brown, this is a boldly defined coin for both the variety and assigned grade. The surfaces are generally smooth in hand with only a few minor marks over and around the obverse portrait. Considerable gloss is noted to further enhance the appeal of this mid grade Liberty Cap cent. Sheldon-30 is one of the popular Marred Field varieties of the 1794 issue, identifiable by a prominent die chip in the left obverse field behind Liberty's central hair locks. The surfaces show copper on the worn areas and dark olive in the fields and are a bit rough when studied with a loupe. A scarce variety from this highly popular series. Although the 1/1 is a bit hard to discern, it is clearly the 1/1 variety by the Cornered ‘E-E’ reverse which is unique to this variety. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away Coin

***Auction Highlight*** 1884-s Morgan Dollar $1 Graded Select Unc By USCG (fc) Lot #605 (Sale Order 544 of 634) ***Auction Highlight*** 1884-s Morgan Dollar $1 Graded Select Unc By USCG. Up for Auction is a Superb example of the 1884-s. Well struck, Virtually untoned surfaces, which exhibit significant reflectivity. Finding an 1884-s with any degree of Proof Like fields is rare. The hair above the ear is fully struck and the overall appearance of the coin is spectacular. Slight weakness in the strike on the center reverse but the outer devices are razor sharp. Unbroken luster and a high well peeked eyebrow.

***Auction Highlight*** Old Casino 50c Roll $10 Halves Silver City Hotel Vegas 1918 & 'D' Franklin E Lot #606 (Sale Order 545 of 634) ***Auction Highlight*** Old Casino 50c Roll $10 Halves Silver City Hotel Vegas 1918 Walker & 'D' Franklin Ends. Good Luck.

The O-109 variety usually comes nice, and this silver-white example is no exception. The stars are well-formed and needle-sharp. Struck slightly off center on the obverse. In demand for type and a favorite issue of Seated quarter collectors, the 1873 Arrows is rare in Gem or finer grades with only about two dozen pieces extant. This example is sharply struck on the central devices except for Liberty's head, which shows merging of the fore curls, and several of the stars lack central definition. Cartwheel mint luster illuminates satin-smooth fields that show areas of die clashing but no serious marks. Predominantly blue toning surround lightly toned silver centers.

The 1840-O No Drapery Dime is easily the rarest date in this short-lived series. It has the lowest total population of the No Drapery type, the smallest number of Mint State examples, and the quality of Uncirculated examples shifts toward the lower end of the spectrum. Unlike the 1840 Dimes from the Philadelphia Mint (which comes in No Drapery and With Drapery versions), the 1840-O comes only one way: No Drapery. Because collectors have only one option for the 1840-O Dime, there is even more upwards price pressure on this date. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win Coin

Not only is this a SUPERB toned GEM, but this one also ranks among the highest certified of this date. Multi-colored toning adorns the entirety of the obverse, the whole surface awash in some truly regal patina. Aqua-teal, rich violet, magenta-rose, and pearly-silver. There are a few tiny ticks, mostly hidden by the color and are appropriate for the assigned MS67 grade. The eye appeal is truly superb. While non-toned examples have generally sold in the $5,000-$7,200 range, and the Collectors Universe value is listed at $6,500, but this coin is worth a very strong bid from the advanced collector of GEM toned Morgans. This is a date, that unlike the 1896, does NOT often come with stunning toning like this beauty! Good luck, bidding will be very intense for this one. Good luck. The Lafayette dollar, design by Charles Barber, synthesized a variety of influences. Houdon's bust of Washington and Canoes' 1824 commemorative medal depicting Lafayette are the sources most often named for the portraits, though Q. David Bowers (1991) credits Arlie Slabaugh with noting the unmistakable similarity between the conjoined portraits on Barber's design and "the obverse of the Yorktown Centennial medal of 1881, made from dies engraved by Peter L. Krider." The reverse is after Paul Wayland Bartlett, designer of the statue depicted on the reverse.Quality control was far from the minds of Mint personnel on December 14, 1899, the day the Lafayette dollars were coined. The press was an old one, long out of regular service and used mostly for traveling exhibits and promotional striking's. After the coins were struck, they fell into a hopper and mixed together, and many examples sustained significant abrasions before they ever left the Mint. Yet a handful of exemplary survivors exist today, coins such as this Superb near Gem. It is the Duvall 2-c Variety. The variety can be determined by looking at the The leaf that terminates above the 9 in the date, and the fact that the second S in STATES is repunched. It is a virtually untoned example with strong luster. Always a popular Commemorative as it is the only Dollar commemorative of the entire series as well as depicting two people on the obverse and the same person on both the obverse and reverse. The coin has many firsts and only. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

Melting under the Pittman Act, and perhaps other unknown factors, make the 1886-O conditionally rare. By New Orleans standards, the mintage was large -- more than 10.7 million pieces were struck, yet no appreciable Mint sewn bags have materialized during the past 60 to 70 years. In Gem or finer conditions, no other Morgan dollar issue is rarer, based on the combined certified populations at PCGS and NGC. This superb example is colorfully toned on the reverse while, frosty untoned white on the Obverse. Strong luster and great eye appeal. Mint state examples are scarce.

Attractive rich colorfully toned surfaces are original on this near-Mint 1843 Seated dollar, and a strong hint of reflectivity remains in the fields despite light wear. This is a well-struck coin, highly appealing for the grade and worthy of a fine type set. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away Coin

***Auction Highlight*** 1881-s Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms67+ PL By SEGS (fc) Lot #629 (Sale Order 568 of 634) ***Auction Highlight*** 1881-s Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms67+ PL By SEGS. It is well known that among all Morgan dollar issues, the 1881-S is the most available in better Mint State grades. But even the '81-S emerges as an important conditional rarity at the MS67+ level with proof like fields and frosty motifs. Examples with the eye-catching white-on-black look of the present coin are particularly in demand. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

The 1921-S Morgan dollar was produced in huge numbers, but few examples are seen with proof like surfaces. ***Auction Highlight*** 1883-o Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms66 DMPL By SEGS (fc) Lot #641 (Sale Order 579 of 634) ***Auction Highlight*** 1883-o Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms66 DMPL By SEGS. 0 An exceptionally well produced, carefully preserved Gem that certainly ranks among the most attractive 1883-O dollars available in today's market. Both sides are fully brilliant to allow ready appreciation of deeply mirrored fields. The devices are modestly satiny in texture and the strike is sharp to full throughout. A higher mintage issue for its type with 8,725,000 pieces produced, the 1883-O also benefited from the release of numerous 1,000-coin bags as early as the late 1930s. As a result, this issue has always been a more available Morgan dollar in Mint State. This premium Gem Deep Mirror Proof like coin is a noteworthy strike and condition rarity, however, and its offering in this sale represents a fleeting opportunity for the advanced collector.

***Auction Highlight*** AU/BU Slider Brinks Shotgun Morgan $1 Roll 1890 & P Ends Virtually UNC (fc) Lot #648 (Sale Order 586 of 634) ***Auction Highlight*** AU/BU Slider Brinks Shotgun Morgan $1 Roll 1890 & P Ends Virtually UNC. . Up For Auction Is a Very Near Solid Uncirculated Morgan Dollar Roll In an old Brinks Wrapper with Tight Shotgun Ends. This Roll is filled with Virtually all Uncirculated Silver Dollars. This is how we determined that. An Uncirculated Morgan Dollar Weighs 26.73 Grams. So 20 of them would weigh, 534.6 Grams. Our Uncirculated Roll Weighs 536.7 Grams, so the Wrappers weigh 2.1 Grams. The Roll at hand weighs 536.34 Grams. Deducting the Wrapper Weight of 2.1 Grams, the average coin in this roll weights 26.71 Grams. Your going to find in this roll a lot of Uncirculated coins and a few sliders. This is a Very Near Solid roll of Uncirculated Morgan Dollars.

***Auction Highlight*** 1879-s Rev '78 Top 100 Morgan Dollar $1 Graded Select Unc+ PL By USCG (fc) Lot #649 (Sale Order 587 of 634) ***Auction Highlight*** 1879-s Rev '78 Top 100 Morgan Dollar $1 Graded Select Unc+ PL By USCG. An exquisite and important example of this elusive Morgan dollar hub variety. Attractive Untoned surfaces. The strike is completely full in all areas, as befits the issue, and the fields are nicely mirrored to offer appreciable contrast with the devices. While the 1879-S as an issue numbers among the most plentiful Morgan silver dollars in Mint State, the vast majority of survivors were struck from dies of the Reverse of 1879 hub type. Far rarer are the Reverse of 1878 pieces, which are distinguished by having a flat breast on the eagle and parallel top arrow feather. Only a few thousand Mint State examples of this variety are believed extant, and with few exhibiting a PL finish and virtually no Deep Mirror Proof like pieces are known. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

This 1917 $1 note is the last large-sized legal tender bank note ever issued. It's referred to as a "Horseblanket Note," due to their large size. The obverse features Washington and a vignette of Columbus sighting America. The reverse shows a "sawhorse" design. Add in the bright red seal and serial numbers and you've got a miniature work of art. The nicest one we have ever been able to bring to auction.

By 1883, Morgan dollar production was partly determined by storage capacity at the different mints. San Francisco was nearly out of space, so the New Orleans Mint stepped up production to more than 8.7 million pieces. Most went into storage and were dispersed in the 1960s. This is a brilliant and lustrous high-end Superb Gem, nearly unabraded with a mark-free cheek on Liberty and a sharp O-mint strike. Faint roller marks on each side remain from the original planchet preparation before this piece was struck. Just a single grade point separates this from the finest known. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation
