Fractional or postage currency has a rich history. At the beginning of the Civil War people starting hoarding coins for their precious metal content. Coins became difficult to find because of the hoarding. People started to try to use stamps instead of coins as a means of commerce. The government decided to help ease the hoarding issue by issuing “paper coins” also known as postage currency or fractional currency. Fractional currency was first issued on August 21, 1862 and they were last issued on February 15, 1876. Three cents, five cents, ten cents, twenty-five cents, and fifty cents notes were all issued. Fractional currency is physically smaller than other United States money. It also does not have a serial number.

The New Orleans Mint opened in 1838 and produced its first half dollars, 20 proof examples dated 1838-O, in January of 1839. A further 178,976 coins dated 1839-O were delivered throughout the remaining months, making this issue the only collectible O-mint half dollar of the 1838-1839 Reeded Edge type. Breen asserts that the 1839-O was extensively hoarded by the public as the first business strike half dollar from the New Orleans Mint. If this is true, then the majority of these coins were retrieved from circulation because this issue is a significant rarity in Mint State. The present satiny-textured mint state example is mostly brilliant throughout. There are no unsightly surface marks but for lamination line on the obverse and the strike is well executed, even in the peripheral areas.

***Auction Highlight*** 1846-o Breen-6186 Gold Liberty Quarter Eagle $2 1/2 Graded Select Unc By USC Lot #84 (Sale Order 79 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** 1846-o Breen-6186 Gold Liberty Quarter Eagle $2 1/2 Graded Select Unc By USCG. This appears to be the Breen-6186, so-called overdate, that shows traces of what appears to be a 4 beneath the 6 in the date. It is given little credence as a real overdate because no Quarter Eagles were struck in New Orleans during 1844. Akers acknowledges the issue as extremely rare in Mint State. Only a handful of the 62,000 coins minted have escaped circulation, and of these, Akers claims only ten are in mint state. The example at hand is a bright and pleasing example with its smooth, creamy surfaces and bright luster. Slight weakness is noted at the center of the reverse, a characteristic of this issue. Also the reverse has some minor and unnoticeable with the naked eye, hairlines, while not distracting it is the grade-limiting factor. An underrated and undervalued issue.

***Auction Highlight*** Old Casino 50c Roll $10 Halves Silver City Hotel Vegas 1928 Walker & 'D' Fra Lot #98 (Sale Order 93 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** Old Casino 50c Roll $10 Halves Silver City Hotel Vegas 1928 Walker & 'D' Franklin Ends. Up for auction is a Consignment I have secured a collection of old 1960’s Las Vegas Casino Half Dollar Shot Gun Rolls from various Casinos. These Rolls contain 20 Half Dollars. They have tight ends and are wild!. I opened three rolls to examine the contents and what I found was mostly Circulated Walkers, a few Franklins and a Seated coin or two and a couple of Barbers. But after I opened the rolls, I wished I hadn’t as they were so cool as antique Las Vegas Half Rolls. I have only seen a handful of these ever. The consignee has given us some additional rolls. We estimate the rolls to be worth $2000 each as a collectable antique, but if the roll is opened and has a rare date, who knows the value, a 1921 Walker even in low grade is worth over $500, and several other dates are worth over $200 each. But who knows, maybe a rare 1878-s Seated is inside. ($35k in g4), or an 1892-o Barber ($5k in G4). In any event the rolls themselves are amazing collectibles of a bygone era of the Rat pack and Las Vegas. From the rolls we have received there are 10 different casinos. Good Luck.

The New Orleans Mint hit its stride in 1880, after being reactivated the year before to help strike the enormous number of Morgan dollars mandated by the Bland-Allison Act in 1878. A respectable mintage of 5.3 million Morgan dollars was achieved and examples can be located easily in grades up to MS63, but finer coins are costly and elusive. This sharply detailed, Near Gem, Choice specimen offers well-preserved surfaces that are lustrous and appealing. Slightly frosted devices, and incredible breast feathers. The coin is closer to ms65 than ms64. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

Pretty hon Lot #116 (Sale Order 111 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** 1856-s Medium 's' Three Dollar Gold 3 Graded au55 By SEGS. Pretty honey-rose patina blankets both sides of this lustrous and boldly defined Choice AU. This is an impressive, highly desirable survivor from this early San Francisco Mint gold issue. The 1856-S is the second of only five San Francisco Mint issues in the three-dollar gold series (including the unique 1870-S) and had a mintage of 34,500 pieces, most of which saw extensive commercial use. Indeed, the 1856-S is typically seen in VF or EF grades. AU coins, as here, are scarce and seldom offered. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away Coin

The 1883 Hawaiian "Akahi Da Lot #119 (Sale Order 114 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** 1883 Hawaii Dollar 1 Graded Select Unc By USCG. The 1883 Hawaiian "Akahi Dala" was struck at the San Francisco Mint on U.S. Dollar planchets. Many were redeemed and melted after Hawaii acquired U.S. territorial statusPer Maurice Gould and Kenneth Bressett writing in Hawaiian Coins, Tokens, and Paper Money (1961): "In 1883, Claus Spreckels, a banker, sugar planter, and power behind the throne, approached the King on the subject of having a silver coinage struck for the Islands. Application was made by the Hawaiian Government for the coinage at the San Francisco mint, of one million dollars in silver denominations to correspond with the silver coins of the United States of America in fineness and weight, regulations of the 9th of November, 1883, by the Secretary of the United States Treasury." Ultimately, 500,000 Hawaiian dollars were struck in 1883. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

A higher-end example of this conditionally elusive San Francisco issue. The strike is bold and just a brush of friction dulls the luster on each side. Even so, a distinct cartwheel effect survives in the protected areas of the fields. The surfaces are fairly smooth and each side displays light golden-gray color. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** The Famous Ten-Dollar "Bison Note" of 1901 $10 Grades vf, very fine (fc) Lot #122 (Sale Order 117 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** The Famous Ten-Dollar "Bison Note" of 1901 $10 Grades vf, very fine. One of the most sought-after notes in the world. The Series 1901 $10 Legal Tender Note symbolizes the spirit of our frontier past with a beautifully engraved image of a powerful bison. With its massive size, prominent head and shaggy fur, the giant of the Great Plains captivated settlers and became a legendary fixture in the American imagination. Issued at the dawn of the last century. Flanking the bison are vignettes of explorers Lewis and Clark, whose mapping of the Louisiana Purchase territory paved the way for western expansion. The reverse features Columbia, a poetic female personification of the U.S. This rarely seen “legal tender note” is full of intricate flourishes and distinguished by a rich red seal and serial number.

***Auction Highlight*** 1916-s Walking Liberty Half Dollar 50c Graded Choice+ Unc By USCG (fc) Lot #124 (Sale Order 119 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** 1916-s Walking Liberty Half Dollar 50c Graded Choice+ Unc By USCG. Offered is a Near Gem Mint State example of the scarcest of the three first-year Walking Liberty half dollar issues. Well executed by the standards of the issuing Mint, both sides exhibit bold to sharp detail in virtually all areas. Attractively toned in golden iridescence with blue highlights on the reverse, the surfaces are lustrous with a smooth satin texture. Although the mintage for the 1916-S is only 100,000 coins fewer than that of the 1916 (508,000 vs. 608,000 pieces), this mint marked issue is far more elusive in Mint State. Undoubtedly fewer San Francisco Mint coins were set aside at the time of issue by contemporary Americans looking for keepsakes of the newly introduced half dollar. With most Uncirculated survivors grading no finer than MS-63, this superior quality example will be just right for an advanced collection. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away Coin

This Philadelphia Mint Morgan dollar issue is readily available through Gem condition, but it is scarcely seen in any grade with Deep Mirror Proof like contrast. Coins of this quality are rare and unsurpassed. Richly frosted and fully struck relief elements stand out in stark contrast to the glassy fields. The cameo effect is highly appealing. Lone ms65+, behind about 5 examples grading ms65 dmpl. I have provided pictures of 2 of the ms65 dmpl examples for your comparison. ***Auction Highlight*** 1820/19 N-3 Coronet Head Large Cent 1c Graded Choice AU/BU Slider By USCG (f Lot #127 (Sale Order 122 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** 1820/19 N-3 Coronet Head Large Cent 1c Graded Choice AU/BU Slider By USCG. A beautiful cent with cartwheel luster of incredible depth. Slightly faded original mint red surrounds some design features. The remaining surface area has toned to an evenly blended and deep steel blue and olive on the obverse while the reverse is a bit more olive near the center. A few scattered marks mostly require magnification for detection, and there is really nothing to distract the eye otherwise. Sharp overdate, with the erroneous digit 1 visible behind the 2. The late state of the dies, where the 9 under the 0 is no longer visible due to die erosion. Superb example, terrific eye appeal. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win Coin

Attractive for the grade, and a find for the advanced Carson City Mint or double eagle enthusiast. The mintage for this scarce issue is just 42,565 pieces, a figure reduced by nearly 96,000 coins from the previous year's relatively high production mark. Many were shipped overseas after they had circulated in regional commerce. Some 800 to 1,200 circulated examples of the 1877-CC are known, with many of those just VF or EF. Nice AU examples such as this can be challenging to acquire and deserve serious bidder attention whenever they appear at auction. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away Coin

***Auction Highlight*** 1850 Braided Hair Half Cent 1/2c Graded ms62 bn By SEGS (fc) Lot #136 (Sale Order 131 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** 1850 Braided Hair Half Cent 1/2c Graded ms62 bn By SEGS. Per Ron Guth of PCGS : The Braided Hair half cents boast some of the lowest mintages of any U.S. coin types and are among the best values, as well. Every date in this type boasts a low mintage. By way of comparison, the mintage of the any Braided hair Half Cent is almost a fraction of the mintage of the 1909-S VDB Lincoln Cent (a far more valuable coin), making this an excellent value. An overall boldly defined example, minor softness is confined to a few of the obverse stars and, on the reverse, a couple of the leaf clusters on the branch. Warmly patinated in gray-brown, the surfaces retain blushes of original faded mint orange color in the protected areas around some of the design elements, especially on the reverse. A smooth and satiny example with a pleasingly original appearance. Scarcer than the 1849 Large Date and 1857, the 1850 is the most elusive circulation strike Braided Hair half cent in Mint State. An important bidding opportunity for the astute collector. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win Coin

***Auction Highlight*** 1880/79-cc rev 78' Vam 4 Top 100 I5 R4 Morgan $1 Graded Select+ Unc By USCG Lot #137 (Sale Order 132 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** 1880/79-cc rev 78' Vam 4 Top 100 I5 R4 Morgan $1 Graded Select+ Unc By USCG. A Top 100 Variety. Struck from a leftover reverse die from 1878 that shows the flattened breast feathers on the eagle, and an obverse leftover from 1879 with the 79 clearly showing. The Reverse of 1878 coins are usually found bag marked, and a mint state example such as this one is worthy of consideration. The surfaces are brilliant and show thick mint frost one would expect from a Carson City product. The luster is also unbroken by the abrasions usually found on this issue, atypical of a CC dollar. Fully struck. The 1880/79-CC is noteworthy because the under digits 79 are clear below the 80. Furthermore, this die was paired with a leftover reverse die from 1878 where the arrows are bent, basically the top two arrows are parallel but the bottom arrowhead is clearly placed at a downward angle, which implies the entire shaft and tail feathers should be at a similar angle, but they are not. This minor design error was corrected early in 1879 but a leftover 1878 die was pressed into service to create this variety. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win Coin

Up for Auction is true numismatic rarity, a Proof Like and light Cameo 1874 $10 Liberty. To date SEGS has only graded 1 as PL, NGC 2 as PL and PCGS none. This example has a terrific orange gold color and nice reflective fields with heavily frosted devices. Stray marks in the field are consistent with the grade. ***Auction Highlight*** 1802 S-237 EDS Draped Bust Large Cent 1c Graded Select Unc BN By USCG (fc) Lot #348 (Sale Order 310 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** 1802 S-237 EDS Draped Bust Large Cent 1c Graded Select Unc BN By USCG. Smooth in hand with a hard, tight, satiny texture, this endearing example is further enhanced by blended medium and golden-brown patina. The strike well centered and both sides are fully denticulated. Detail is sharp in all areas save for over the lower right portion of the wreath and the upper curls. Close inspection with a loupe reveals faint marks in the left and right obverse field, commensurate with the grade that are easily overlooked and just as easily forgiven. All in all, a pleasing high grade example of the type and variety that is sure to catch the eye of discerning bidders. Breen Die State II. ***Auction Highlight*** 1904-p Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms65+ By SEGS (fc) Lot #349 (Sale Order 311 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** 1904-p Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms65+ By SEGS. This pretty Gem plus exhibits untoned brilliant surfaces both the obverse and reverse. Both sides are sharply struck with smooth, frosty mint luster. One of the scarcer Philadelphia Mint Morgan dollars in Mint State, the 1904 was not widely represented in any silver dollar releases from government holdings during the middle decades of the 20th century. Q. David Bowers (1993) talks of releases "in the 1941-1942 years, in the 1950s and again in the early 1960s, but, apparently, there was no major release at any specific time." With the typical survivor grading no finer than MS-64 by today's strict standards, the premium quality Gem offered here offers both absolute scarcity and condition rarity that will appeal to the advanced Morgan dollar enthusiast. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** 1795 O-105 R-4 Flowing Hair Half Dollar 50c Graded au58 By SEGS (fc) Lot #350 (Sale Order 312 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** 1795 O-105 R-4 Flowing Hair Half Dollar 50c Graded au58 By SEGS. 1795 Flowing Hair Half Dollar, o-105 R-4 au58 SEGS. Two points of star 1 are attached solidly to the lowest curl, and the point of star 2 lies entirely across the end of the second curl from the bottom. On the reverse the berries are arranged 10 and seven, and there is one berry above, one below the R in AMERICA. After the considerably smaller mintage of 1794 Flowing Hair, Small Eagle half dollars, recorded as 23,464 coins, the fledgling U.S. Mint produced a much larger quantity of 1795 half dollars, recorded as 299,680 pieces. Those recorded mintages are, of course, the numbers of coins produced in each year -- not the number of coins dated in each of those two years. While 1794's emission produced a total of 11 Overton varieties seen to date, the 1795 mintage, which was 12 times larger, produced only three times as many die marriages -- 33. While it is understandable that as mint personnel gained experience in coining the new denomination they would manage to achieve a greater number of coins struck per die, it still appears that the numbers of known varieties compared to the recorded mintages are somewhat askew. Perhaps there were more 1794-dated pieces produced in 1795, making the 1795 rarer than generally acknowledged. While this is speculation, it does seem to square with the available evidence. However, the fact remains that the 1795 half dollars are much less rare than the 1794 pieces, making the 1795-dated pieces the obvious choice to represent the Flowing Hair, Small Eagle type. The present coin offers original lustrous, mostly untoned surfaces with a light cast of multi color toning over each side. Slight weaker strike in the centers, but full detail in the outer devices. A piece destined to form the centerpiece of an advanced date or type collection. This piece occupies the sixth slot among top-grade O-105's. Tied for 6th finest in the Variety. We have included an ms61 o-105 for your comparison. I think you will agree based on the ms61 example, our au58 is soundly graded. It is worth noting that the variety is so scarce that the highest ever graded by PCGS was a vf30. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** 1811 C-2 R3 Classic Head half cent 1/2c Graded xf45 Details By SEGS (fc) Lot #351 (Sale Order 313 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** 1811 C-2 R3 Classic Head half cent 1/2c Graded xf45 Details By SEGS. The Close Date variety. Other than the proof-only 1831 and 1836 issues, the 1811 is the key to the Classic Head half cent series. The obverse is medium-brown with deeper color evident near the date and the lower stars, while the reverse is a more uniform deep brown. The obverse has several very light marks which is the reason for the details grade. A high degree of detail is evident under light wear; indeed, the reverse is especially attractive for the grade. A coin for the Half Cent specialist or the date collector intent on completing a high grade set. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. The date numerals slant left on this Overton 110 variety. On the reverse, the AM in AMERICA are joined at the bases. This Capped Bust type coin is radiantly lustrous and toned a very attractive antique silver. Several of the left-hand stars are weak, but the central devices show bold definition. Eye appeal is outstanding for the grade, well-deserving of the Plus designation. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. ***Auction Highlight*** 1889-o Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms65+ By SEGS (fc) Lot #353 (Sale Order 315 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** 1889-o Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms65+ By SEGS. There is no trace of toning on this blazing white specimen, and the strike is sharp on the obverse and reverse. The reverse die does look worn a tad, but this is typical of the issue and all the important design elements are well formed. Liberty's cheek is exceptional and free of virtually any sign of contact from other coins, keeping the eye appeal high and the frosty luster intact. A delight to behold and certainly one of the finest examples of this date from the New Orleans Mint. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. Incredible quality, not only in terms of preservation (as excellent as the grade implies) but also the strike and luster. If poor definition is the rule, the crisp lines on the hair over Liberty's ear and the eagle's breast feathers make this Superb Gem a remarkable exception; the luster too is bold, prominently cartwheeled with thin gold and peach accents in the fields. ***Auction Highlight*** 1824/2 JR-1 Capped Bust Dime 10c Graded Choice AU/BU Slider By USCG (fc) Lot #356 (Sale Order 318 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** 1824/2 JR-1 Capped Bust Dime 10c Graded Choice AU/BU Slider By USCG. Up for Auction is an ultra rare and lustrous 1824/2 Capped Bust Dime. Only 225 survive in all grades and only 25 in mint state. The coin at hand has just a bit of rub at the high points and virtually full luster. Plagued by weak strikes, the issue generally lacks full detail in the center devices. I have included 3 other examples to illustrate. Two au53 and one au58 example. The coin needs to be graded via the luster, which is virtually full. Even on the reverse where the luster is impeccable and unbroken, you will see the same weak strike on the eagles neck as on the three other examples provided. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin

A meager mintage of 677,000 Morgan dollars was achieved at the Carson City Mint in 1893, the final year of coinage operations at the famous Western facility. This Plus-graded near-Mint specimen exhibits sharply detailed design elements with the slightest trace of wear on the high points. Lincoln Wheat cent 1c orig roll, 1909-s end, VDB other end Lot #364 (Sale Order 326 of 630) Lincoln Wheat cent 1c orig roll, 1909-s end, VDB other end. Lincoln Wheat cent 1c original Shotgun Roll, 1909-s on one end, VDB reverse on the other. The roll is held in a Rare & Collectable Brandt wrapper. Actual roll pictured is the roll you will get. A great original bank shotgun roll with very tight ends. From the feedback we have been receiving, people are happy with these rolls, nearly half the roll seems to be teens, all the rolls have a few Indians, most of the rolls have some steel cents, and a lot of the wheaties are mintmarks. These shotgun rolls are all from a new consignee. They are all frrom one Estate. This particular Roll shows a 1909-s on one end and a VDB reverse on the other end.

***Auction Highlight*** 1884-s Morgan Dollar $1 Graded Select Unc By USCG. This is an attract Lot #365 (Sale Order 327 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** 1884-s Morgan Dollar $1 Graded Select Unc By USCG. This is an attractive and desirable Uncirculated specimen of an eagerly sought Morgan dollar. Virtually untoned surfaces, with slight reflectivity. It is boldly to sharply struck throughout with a very attractive appearance for the assigned grade. The 1884-S is one of the most famous condition rarities in the Morgan dollar series. Though 3.2 million pieces were struck -- a generous total for the type -- the vast majority were spent and spent again in local commerce, and today the typical grade may be EF or AU, with many survivors well below those grades. The scarcity and value of this issue increases exponentially in Mint State, where it becomes a significant challenge for advanced Morgan specialists. Clearly the present offering represents an important opportunity in today's market. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. ***Auction Highlight*** 1874 Arrows Seated Liberty Quarter 25c Graded ms65+ By SEGS. The exqu Lot #366 (Sale Order 328 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** 1874 Arrows Seated Liberty Quarter 25c Graded ms65+ By SEGS. The exquisite frosty surfaces of this quarter are enhanced by bold crescents of slate blue peripheral toning on the obverse. On the reverse, slate blue is seen around the border, while the rest is brilliant. Fully struck throughout with silky smooth surfaces that are very close to numismatic perfection.During the 1870s, silver became the focus of considerable attention. Huge amounts of the metal ore were discovered in Nevada's Comstock Lode. Additionally, a massive quantity of the metal was released by France and Germany when they adopted the gold standard. These factors helped to drive down the price of silver worldwide. To address this concern and mollify the silver barons out West, the Coinage Act of February 12, 1873, was passed, demonetizing silver and effectively putting the United States on the gold standard. One minor addition to the bill was an ever so small increase in the weight of the remaining silver denominations. For the quarter this translated to an increase from 6.22 grams to 6.25 grams, an almost insignificant amount. The Mint added arrows on either side of the date as it had done in 1853 with the last weight change. These arrows proved to be essentially superfluous so they were removed after 1874.A moderate number of 1874 quarters survive, though primarily in circulated grades. Choice Mint State examples can be found, but locating a Gem can be very challenging. The present example is the single finest certified at SEGS and in the top 10 overall. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** 1806 BD-6 Gold Draped Bust Half Eagle 5 Graded au53 Details By SEGS (fc) Lot #367 (Sale Order 329 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** 1806 BD-6 Gold Draped Bust Half Eagle 5 Graded au53 Details By SEGS. The 1806 Capped Bust Right eagle is known in six different die varieties. This still-attractive specimen is lightly worn and lightly abraded, with pleasing lemon-yellow surfaces that show a few marks on the obverse. Possibly planchet flaws. This coin represents the popular BD-6 variety, easily identified by the Round Top 6 in the date and the arrangement of the obverse stars in a 7x6 array (all the other varieties have a Pointed 6 and stars arranged 8x5). The BD-6 has a surviving population of 600-900 examples in all grades, making it a favorite choice of type collectors. The durable BD-6 die pair probably struck 35,000-50,000 examples of the large reported mintage. This was the only use of the obverse die, but the reverse was used previously to strike the BD-5 variety of this date. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

Superb example of the Civil War issue. This is the WB-102 Variety. The WB-102 Shows Repunching that is evident on the base of the 1 and the crossbar of the 4. A thin die crack runs along the outer edge of the reverse legends. Heavy clash marks appear throughout. Wiley-Bugert rate this die marriage High R.6 in Mint State. The surfaces appear semi Proof Like, but the highlight of this spectacular coin has to be the razor sharp, deep strike. One of the best strikes I’ve ever seen on any Seated Half. ***Auction Highlight*** Old Casino 50c Roll $10 Halves Dunes Hotel Vegas 1918 Walker & 'D' Franklin Lot #370 (Sale Order 332 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** Old Casino 50c Roll $10 Halves Dunes Hotel Vegas 1918 Walker & 'D' Franklin Ends. Good Luck.

By way of comparison, the mintage of the any Braided hair Half Cent is almost a fraction of the mintage of the 1909-S VDB Lincoln Cent (a far more valuable coin), making this an excellent value.

***Auction Highlight*** 1879-p Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms65 dmpl By SEGS. This remarkable str Lot #381 (Sale Order 343 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** 1879-p Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms65 dmpl By SEGS. This remarkable strike rarity is sure to appeal to advanced collectors of proof like Morgan dollars. Satiny in texture with razor sharp definition, the devices appear to float atop the reflective fields. Both sides are fully brilliant and expertly preserved allowing ready appreciation of this bold cameo contrast. Certainly obtainable in an absolute sense, the 1879 is surprisingly scarce in DMPL. Indeed, many proof like examples are reflective on only one side of the coin, usually the obverse, and the fields tend to be "cloudy" with limited depth to the reflectivity. Writing in the 1993 reference Silver Dollars & Trade Dollars of the United States: A Complete Encyclopedia, however, Q. David Bowers references a small group of high quality cameo proof like 1879 dollars that entered the numismatic market in 1977 through a San Francisco dealer. The number of coins involved in that dispersal was apparently limited, and they have long since been absorbed by the market. We do not know if the present example was part of that group, but it is certainly an exceptionally well produced and fully deep mirror proof like. Beautiful and conditionally rare, and worthy of strong bids. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

This is a gorgeou Lot #383 (Sale Order 345 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** 1881-o Near Top POP Morgan $1 Graded ms65+ By SEGS. This is a gorgeous example of the issue that ranks among the finest known. Brilliant satin white surfaces are highly lustrous with a silky smooth, virtually pristine appearance. Light pale yellow toning adorns the obverse. Fully struck with abundant eye appeal. As with so many Morgan dollar deliveries, the 1881-O is plentiful in lower Mint State grades but scarce to rare any finer than MS-64. Premium quality both in terms of striking quality and surface preservation, this impressive MS-65+ is seemingly earmarked for inclusion in an advanced collection of this widely collected series. *Highlight Of Entire Auciton* 1900-o TOP POP! Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms68 By SEGS (fc) Lot #389 (Sale Order 351 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** 1900-o TOP POP! Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms68 By SEGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE ENTIRE AUCTION. Single Finest Known 1900-o Morgan Dollar, Lone TOP POP. The mintage exceeding 12.5 million pieces makes the 1900-O a readily available coin in all but the highest Mint State grades -- an honor this example proudly displays. In short, the luster and strike on the coin are incredible. It displays vibrant Mint freshness seldom seen on an O-Mint dollar of any date, with the portrait of Liberty fully brought up and the cheek smooth and rounded. Brilliant surfaces are frosted and entirely untoned. Although the 1900-O is an available issue in lesser grades, there are no finer examples than this MS68. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

Up for Auction is a Key Date 1896-o. Silvery and lightly toned obverse and fully untoned reverse. Minimally abraded surfaces, this appealing coin is worthy of a strong bid. A true condition rarity among Morgan dollars, the 1896-O is readily obtainable in worn condition yet scarce to rare in all Mint State grades. When we further consider that most Uncirculated survivors of this 4,900,000-piece issue are poorly struck with inferior luster, the present offering is sure to catch the eye of the discerning Morgan dollar collector. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin

***Auction Highlight*** 1879-s Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms68 By SEGS (fc) Lot #397 (Sale Order 359 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** 1879-s Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms68 By SEGS. At the threshold of numismatic perfection, this fully struck, exceptionally well preserved Superb Gem would do equally well in a high grade type or date set. The 1879-S Morgan dollar is by no means a rare coin in the strictest sense until you reach the very upper echelons of preservation. Many thousands of Uncirculated 1879-S dollars exist up to and including the Gem level, but further up the numbers thin out significantly. Almost the entire production run of 9,110,000 coins struck at San Francisco were not paid out, but rather remained in the Mint's vaults, only gradually being released in quantities in 1942 and again in the early 1960s. Most Mint State survivors come from those releases and most often will have bag marks or other abrasions from being moved around from vault to vault during counts in large and very heavy $1,000 face value sacks for the better part of 80 years. Pristine examples become challenging above the MS-67 level. Ever so close to perfect and a showcase coin for any numismatist. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

1899 $2 Large Size Silver Certificate "Mini-Portholes" Fr-256 Teehee-Burke Grades f, fine Lot #400 (Sale Order 362 of 630) 1899 $2 Large Size Silver Certificate "Mini-Portholes" Fr-256 Teehee-Burke Grades f, fine. The Series 1899 $2 Silver Certificate is notable not only for being the last $2 silver certificate series printed, but also because it is the only $2 bill to feature a portrait of George Washington instead of the more common Thomas Jefferson image. Because Washington’s portrait on the bill’s face is small and surrounded by an oval frame resembling a ship’s porthole, collectors have named it the “Mini-Porthole” bill.

1896 $1 Silver Certificate Martha & George Washington "Educational Series" FR-224 Tilman-Morgan Grad Lot #415 (Sale Order 375 of 630) 1896 $1 Silver Certificate Martha & George Washington "Educational Series" FR-224 Tilman-Morgan Grades g+. In 1896, the U.S. Treasury printed Silver Certificates with beautiful designs depicting educational motifs. Known as the “Educational Series,” each of these notes is a numismatic masterpiece. They’re also incredibly difficult to come by on the front, paired on the back with a first and only in U.S. currency: the portraits of BOTH George and Martha Washington!Due to their theme, these notes became known as “One Dollar Eds” and they feature much more than just History in the form of a reclining woman pointing towards a panoramic view of the Potomac River and Washington, DC with her arm wrapped around Youth represented by the figure a young boy. Besides the images of the Washington Monument and Capitol building, the United States Constitution can be seen on the right side of the bill. Additionally, the last names of important Americans are printed in wreaths that surround the front of the bill. Some of those listed include Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Robert Fulton and Ulysses Grant. Most of the people were included because of their artistic, cultural, or scientific achievements. In the book 100 Greatest Currency Notes by Q. David Bowers, the $1 Educational Note is ranked #7

1862 $100 Confederate Note, T-39 Richmond, Virginia Grades Choice AU Lot #430 (Sale Order 387 of 630) 1862 $100 Confederate Note, T-39 Richmond, Virginia Grades Choice AU. High-denomination $100 Confederate Notes are in great demand among collectors and history buffs alike. Carefully preserved for over 155 years since the Civil War. This was the first interest bearing $100 note to be issued in large quantities by the Confederacy. They paid a 7.3% annual interest rate; double that of the First Series notes of Montgomery and Richmond. Some were issued by agents by hand, and their signatures—and sometimes the place of issue—are written on the backs. Some T-39s also have interest paid stamps on the backs indicating that the interest was collected by the bearer. The notes have a popular “Train” vignette on the front, with easily visible “straight steam” (all white) coming out of the smokestack. To the left is a vignette of a milkmaid. Once thought to be an apple, the object in her left hand above her head is most likely the handle of the bucket on her head. These notes were payable six months after the ratification of a Treaty of Peace between the Confederate States and United States and were not fundable.

*Star Note* 1891 $2 Large Size Tresaury Note Fr-357 General McPherson Grades vf+ Lot #578 (Sale Order 505 of 630) *Star Note* 1891 $2 Large Size Tresaury Note Fr-357 General McPherson Grades vf+. Treasury notes were only printed in 1890 and 1891. It is interesting to note that James B McPherson is the only person to die in the Civil War who was later featured on United States paper money. McPherson was also the second highest ranking Union officer to die in the Civil War. Collecting paper money by portrait has always been an interesting but very challenging way to put together a currency collection. It is also difficult to try to complete a collection of 1891 treasury notes. The $1,000 note is unique and a $500 1891 treasury note has yet to be discovered. Any denomination over $20 is very scarce and rarely seen. There really isn’t an accepted nickname for 1891 $2 treasury notes. Collectors definitely refer to the portrait on the bill as a quick way to identify the item. McPherson was pictured on both the 1890 and 1891 treasury notes so you still have to get a little bit more specific

This brightly untoned MS63+ coin is well-struck for a New Orleans Morgan dollar. It features notably strong detail on the eagle's breast feathers and claws. ***Auction Highlight*** 1889-cc Morgan Dollar $1 Graded au55+ By USCG (fc) Lot #593 (Sale Order 520 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** 1889-cc Morgan Dollar $1 Graded au55+ By USCG. A handsome example of this key date in the Carson City Mint Morgan dollar series. Both sides of this coin retain plenty of lively mint luster, the surfaces predominantly satin to softly frosted in texture. Essentially brilliant, we note only faint wisps of iridescent gold and russet toning around the peripheries. Boldly to sharply defined overall. Although other CC-Mint silver dollars have lower mintages (the 1881-CC and 1885-CC, for example), the title of rarest Carson City Mint Morgan dollar has long been held by the 1889-CC. Of the 350,000 pieces struck, only small quantities emerged from government holdings during the first half of the 20th century, mostly from storage in the San Francisco Mint and/or Treasury stock. Since few 1889-CC dollars seem to have entered circulation at or near the time of issue, both worn and Mint State survivors are elusive. A find at all levels of preservation, this premium quality AU-55+ will certainly draw plenty of attention from both Carson City Mint and Morgan dollar enthusiasts. I have included another au55+ for your comparison. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** 1901-s Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms66+ By SEGS (fc) Lot #597 (Sale Order 524 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** 1901-s Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms66+ By SEGS. Up for Auction is one of the finest 1901-s Morgans we have ever offered. This date was stored in quantity at the San Francisco Mint for decades after its production, during which time bags of coins were gradually paid out. Little numismatic interest was taken, however, and the coins that survived in Mint State often showed extensive abrasions and bag marks. Today, the 1901-S is scarce in the context of the series, and it is genuinely rare at the Premium Gem grade level. This Plus-graded coin is among the finest pieces surviving. Brilliant, frosted mint luster forms vibrant cartwheel bands on each side, and the strike is sharp throughout. Faint roller marks on each side remain from the original planchet preparation before this piece was struck. Finer pieces are prohibitively rare. This example is ted for 4th finest known. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** 1809 S-280 Classic Head Large Cent 1c Graded ms61 details By SEGS. Th Lot #599 (Sale Order 526 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** 1809 S-280 Classic Head Large Cent 1c Graded ms61 details By SEGS. This handsome example ranks among the nicest Classic Head cents for the assigned grade that we have ever offered. No wear is evident on either side, the cheek is high and well rounded, the leaves on the reverse are fully detailed. The details designation is due to the porosity of the planchet.Produced only from 1808 through 1814, the Classic Head series is one of the shortest among early U.S. Mint coppers. The paucity of examples produced does not alone explain why this is also one of the most challenging types to locate in finer circulated and Mint State grades. Planchet stock for this series, all of which was supplied by Matthew Boulton of Birmingham, England, is inferior to that which the Mint used to produce other large cent types. The copper used for the Classic Head coinage is softer with more metallic impurities, which made the finished coins more susceptible to wear, environmental damage and unattractive toning. Indeed, the vast majority of survivors of all dates of this type are well worn and/or impaired. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin

*Highligh of Entire Auction** 1897-o Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms64 By SEGS (fc) Lot #601 (Sale Order 528 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** 1897-o Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms64 By SEGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE ENTIRE Auction. Up for Auction is a Near Mint 1897-o Wow! Most Mint State 1897-O dollars within the MS61 to MS63 range, with the certified total falling off dramatically in MS64. This is a smooth near-Gem with distinctly satin mint luster and hints of dusky gold color over otherwise silvery surfaces. Strongly defined for a New Orleans Morgan dollar. Just a couple of tiny ticks appear on the cheek. Specialists understand the difficulty this Southern issue poses in MS64 and the rarity of higher-graded examples. Tied for 17th Finest known. I have included an ms64 and an ms64+ for your comparison. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** 1834 B-1, FS-901 Capped Bust Quarter 25c Graded ms62 details By SEGS (fc) Lot #602 (Sale Order 529 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** 1834 B-1, FS-901 Capped Bust Quarter 25c Graded ms62 details By SEGS. Lovely untoned surfaces, that have a few nicks under liberty's chin which accounts for the details grade. The fields are glassy, smooth, and faintly proof like. The devices are bold and lustrous. The repunching of the letters is strong and a shadowy O overlaps the primary O to the left, and the top of the F extends from the O to the final F, just touching that letter. Two tiny dots left of the A(MERICA) are likely traces of that letter being repunched as well. It is interesting that this same reverse die was also used in 1833 and then carried forward to strike coins again in 1834. The O/F reverse die is listed in the Guide Book and many collectors desire an example along with the normal reverse 1834 quarter. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away Coin

***Auction Highlight*** 1901-p Vam 3 Top 100 WOW DDR I5 R6 Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms61 By SEGS. Lot #605 (Sale Order 532 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** 1901-p Vam 3 Top 100 WOW DDR I5 R6 Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms61 By SEGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE ENTIRE AUCTION - VAM-3. A Top 100 Variety. Not only is this an extremely important doubled die variety, but it is also a rare date, especially in Mint State grades. Sometimes called the "Shifted Eagle" variety, the VAM-3 is the most obvious of several 1901 doubled reverse coins. This is the only true doubled die example, as the other varieties are actually doubled hub pieces, with the die produced by an impression of the old (pre-1900) hub overlapped by an impression of the new hub.Doubling is most prominent on the arrows and tail feathers, appearing quite similar to the 1878 doubled tail feather varieties. Additional doubling can be seen along the lower edge of the eagle's beak, and elsewhere, including the branch, arrows, and IN GOD WE TRUST.Although not fully struck, this piece has good detail with brilliant satin luster on each side. A few faint splashes of rose color appear on the otherwise untoned surfaces. Less than 10 known mint state examples exist. This ms61 is the first example I have ever held in my hand let alone had the honor of bringing to auction. I have included a picture of another ms61 example for your comparison. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** 1839-p HM-1 R-4 TOP POP! Gold Classic Head Quarter Eagle $2 1/2 Graded Selec Lot #606 (Sale Order 533 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** 1839-p HM-1 R-4 TOP POP! Gold Classic Head Quarter Eagle $2 1/2 Graded Select Unc By USCG. 1839-p $2 ½ Classic Head Gold Quarter Eagle, HM-1 Variety. The 1839 is the rarest Philadelphia issue in the Classic Head quarter eagle series, and it is actually scarcer than a couple of the branch mint issues. Fewer than 100 coins survive in all grades, and only eight are Uncirculated. This MS62 coin displays an unusually sharp central strike with trivial softness on the left-hand star centers. Light chatter in the fields limits the grade. Tied for Finest Known. We have included another ms62 for your comparison. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

According to David Hall, ‘The 1916-D is scarce in circulated grades and scarce in mint state. It is very scarce in Gem MS65 or better condition. In Gem condition, it is about equal in rarity to the 1913-D Type 2, 1914-D, 1915-D, and 1917-D. The 1916-D is all too often found weakly struck. This piece, however, is strongly detailed throughout with almost complete braid definition and full fur on the bison's head. The bright, satiny surfaces show no toning and there are no mentionable marks. Truly a high-end coin A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. ***Auction Highlight*** Old Casino 50c Roll $10 Halves The Mint Hotel Vegas 1929 Walker & 'D' Frankl Lot #634 (Sale Order 559 of 630) ***Auction Highlight*** Old Casino 50c Roll $10 Halves The Mint Hotel Vegas 1929 Walker & 'D' Franklin Ends. Good Luck.

1915-s Panama Pacific Old Commem Half Dollar 50c Grades Choice AU Lot #636 (Sale Order 561 of 630) 1915-s Panama Pacific Old Commem Half Dollar 50c Grades Choice AU. Exceptionally Rare Commemorative. The Pan Pac was Minted Along with 4 Other Coins to Commemorate the Completion of the Panama Canal and Distributed at the Panama Pacific Exposition in San Francisco which also Celebrated the Renewal of San Francisco since the Great Fire. When Examining the Pan Pac Half Dollar, Note that there is a Problem with Pan-Pac Halves in its Strike: Weakness is often Evident on Columbia’s Head, Cap, Arm and Body, also on the Eagle's Breast Feathers and Claws. Occasionally, Coins are seen with a Rim Indentation Near the Periphery on Each Side; this is a Mint Caused Problem and Should Not Be Factored Into the Grade. When Grading Lightly Circulated Examples, Friction is First Evident on Columbia's Shoulder and on the Eagle's Breast.
