He has received numerous awards and is always a must see at the shows’ "Quick Drawsâ€. Rick was born and raised in the Gallatin and Madison valleys of Southcentral Montana. The Bridger and Tobacco Root mountain ranges were also his stomping grounds. He studied art at Bozeman Senior High School, Montana State University and Eastern Washington University. During his years as a student, Rick spent his free time hunting, fishing and playing golf in this area he describes as "a sportsman’s paradiseâ€. Rick is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys building his own fly and spinning rods, tying his own flies and using them. Rick also enjoys golf, football, basketball, and baseball. The subject matter of Rick’s work reflects numerous hunting and fishing trips throughout the western U.S. and Canada. These are “research trips†insists Rick. He also paints many pieces from memories of his Montana upbringing and scenes on location at his family’s summer retreat on Meadow Lake near Ennis, Montana. Living in Cheney makes Turnbull Wildlife Refuge an amazing research opportunity. The major body of Rick’s works are in the watercolor medium. His watercolor technique is unique, and he feels he has attained his goal of painting pieces that are recognized as his without having to check the signature. Within the body of Rick’s work are two sold out bronze sculptures, pen and ink drawings, pencil drawings, etchings, oil paintings, acrylic paintings and wood sculptures.

Father Anthony New Clairvaux Studio Pottery Vase Lot #166 (Sale Order 169 of 819) Very nice vase. Made by Father Anthony of New Clairvaux Monestary in Nappa Valley California. No chips or cracks. Wonderful purple glaze. 7" tall. Father Anthony - Potter Artist Biography Father Anthony, a member of the Abbey of New Clairvaux, a Trappist Monastery located in the Napa Valley of Northern California at Vina, has been a potter for over thirty years. He creates only one-of-a-kind pottery which, when available, is sold in the Abbey Gift Shop. Because these pots are usually purchased by tourists and visitors to the monastery, it is rare to find a number of his pieces displayed together and available for purchase. Father Anthony was born in Philadelphia in 1935. He studied Business and Engineering at Drexel University where he received a B.S. degree in Commerce in 1957. For the next four years he was employed by Allis-Chalmers which led to his transfer to the San Francisco area. In 1963 he entered the Dominican Order and received a degree in Philosophy and an advanced degree in Theology from Saint Albert’s in Oakland. Father Anthony was ordained a priest in 1969; he entered the Abbey of New Clairvaux in 1972 where he has remained ever since. It was during his studies at Saint Albert’s that Father Anthony became interested in ceramics. One year after entering New Clairvaux he built a studio and kiln for the production of pottery. He specializes in glazing vase forms using a red stoneware body fired to cone 4 or 5. It might still be possible to find one of his earliest vases with the signature "Anthony OP" (Order of Preachers). For most of his time as a potter Father Anthony has incised the bottom of his vases with NEW CLAIRVAUX in a circular fashion with the year in the middle, for instance 96 for 1996.

James Bason A Grey Day In May Lot #456 (Sale Order 459 of 819) Very nice plein air painting. 13.5" by 16.5" framed. James Bason paints what he grew up with - not the majestic mountain peaks so common and popular in western art but more often than not the vast open prairie, the windy vista or simply the space in between things - a clump of grass, some willows, the clouds of Montana’s big sky. He is a native Montanan best known for his serene and soft edged landscape paintings of central Montana. He received a Bachelors in Art Degree with Honors from Montana State University at Bozeman in 1996 with concentrations in both graphic design and painting. Elton Bennett The Returning Washington Serigraph Lot #459a (Sale Order 463 of 819) Very nice Serigraph in frame. 23.75" by 29.5". Elton Bennett (1910-1974) was a lifelong native of Grays Harbor. One look at his luminous silkscreen art work is enough to inform the viewer of his deep and enduring love for everything that Grays Harbor has to offer- our grey days, the abundance of rainfall, the brisk scent of salt air, the rivers, beaches, and waterways. My memories of my father always conjure the image of an artist reaching for sketch book and pen, a delighted expression of coming upon yet another scene he needed to record. Weekends were spent as a family exploring places which would later appear in a finished print. The early years were a difficult time, as he struggled to establish himself as an artist. He had no desire to leave home in order to fit in with the Seattle art community. The inspiration for his art was always here, and here he would stay, even if it meant putting his talent to use screening labels for cans of clam chowder. Which he did! There were also bumper stickers for the Westport Salmon Derby, menu covers for Sourdough Lils, motel brochures, and paper placemats.

After World War II, they bought an acre and a half tract near Redlands, California where Jack built an adobe house. Then after eighteen months, he and his wife sold the home so that he could attend the Los Angeles Art Center School. He was accepted on the GI Bill in 1947 and attended for two years. In 1949, he got a job in Dallas, Texas with per diem for a year as a draftsman with the Carter Engineering Group. He did not graduate from college but they were continually promoting him in mechanical engineering positions. He then worked in Wichita, Kansas as a draftsman again. At the end of his work day, Jack would paint until midnight on freelance work for his own enjoyment. The King's moved back to West Covina, California in 1952. He went to work for Aerojet Aerospace Engineering and then worked in Tacoma, Washington until 1972. They again came back to California. Then they moved again to Idaho Falls again with Aerojet Aerospace for one year. Jack got sick so they came back to California where he retired in 1970. Despite working full-time he continued to paint whenever possible; after retirement in 1970 he painted full-time and his work was marketed exclusively through an agent in Canada. He exhibited for many years at the Calgary Stampede Western Art Auction.

Giacometti was one of the most important sculptors of the 20th century. His work was particularly influenced by artistic styles such as Cubism and Surrealism. Philosophical questions about the human condition, as well as existential and phenomenological debates played a significant role in his work. Around 1935 he gave up on his Surrealistic influences in order to pursue a more deepened analysis of figurative compositions. Giacometti wrote texts for periodicals and exhibition catalogues and recorded his thoughts and memories in notebooks and diaries. His critical nature led to self-doubt about his own work and his self-perceived inability to do justice to his own artistic vision. His insecurities nevertheless remained a powerful motivating artistic force throughout his entire life.

Jan Adam Zandleven Oil On Board Lot #463 (Sale Order 468 of 819) Dated 1909. Oil on board. 21" by 24" framed. Has a few spots of inpaint as shown under blacklight.
Jan Adam Zandleven (6 February 1868– 16 July 1923) was a Dutch painter, mostly of landscapes and still-lifes.
He was the son of a paint manufacturer and merchant. Although he always wanted to be an artist, he never took formal lessons and worked for his father's company until 1901, when some of his works received positive reviews from Paul Gabriël and Jozef Israëls. Despite continuing opposition from his father, he chose to become a painter and made the acquaintance of the art dealer, Henk Bremmer, who gave him advice and financial support, as well as introducing him to the art collector, Helene Kröller-Müller, who became a major patron.
In 1904, he and his wife settled in Gorssel, lived briefly in Hengelo, then moved to Putten, near the Veluwe in 1912, where he spent much of his time painting in the woods; sometimes accompanied by his friend, the still-life painter Jan Carbaat (1866–1924). A deeply religious man, this would often produce a state akin to meditation and the degree of his concentration is clearly visible in his attention to small details. The influence of Impressionism is obvious, but his technique was more closely related to Pointillism.
Between 1916 and 1922, he exhibited regularly at the "Kunsthandel Gerbrands" in Utrecht. After 1918, he lived in Rhenen, where he died. Major retrospectives have been held at the Stedelijk Museum in 1929 and, more recently, at the Museum Flehite in 2012.

Sheryl Bodily Reservation Indian Boy Painting Lot #464 (Sale Order 469 of 819) Painting of a Montana Indian Boy on Reservation holding his Dog. 16" by 19" framed. Oil on Canvas. A western wildlife and landscape artist, Sheryl Bodily is a resident of Montana. He was the winner of the 1986 Ellensburg Washington Rodeo Association Poster Award, and recently received Best of Show/Flatwork at the Florence Festival Art Auction in Florence, Montana. Favorite subjects rendered in oil and pencil include Indian scenes with children, old cabins, wagon trains and wildlife. He is widely exhibited in Sante Fe and Taos, New Mexico, Sedona, Arizona and Idaho. In the fall of 1970, an art auction was held through the Pacific Northwest Indian Center in Spokane, Washington. To that auction a young man named Sheryl Bodily, from Columbia Falls, Montana, brought a few of his oil paintings. A good deal of excitement was caused by the fact that Mr. Bodily's paintings were sold at auction for twice their listed value. A few months later the performance was repeated at another art auction in Great Falls, Montana, and suddenly an artist who had been painting professionally for 12 years, two of them full time, was discovered. Suddenly a man who had had to work hard to sell his work, found himself with more advance commissions than he could readily complete. Western artist Sheryl Bodily was born in Boise, Idaho, on April 20, 1936, the second oldest in a family with one brother and four sisters. Mr. Bodily's father was a farmer in the Boise Valley, and he remembers six moves to different farms in that region. He described his father as the breadwinner and his mother as the counselor and teacher in his early years. "I remember milking eight to fifteen cows which was always my chore at home, but my real interest at that time was the hobby of collecting arrowheads and other artifacts in Rocky Canyon with my younger brother near Meridian, Idaho." His enthusiastic interest in Indian people and their contemporary culture has continued to grow over the years and has had a tremendous influence on his art. Mr. Bodily first remembers drawing in the first grade of the Meridian Idaho Grade School, and being told at that time by his teacher that someday he would become an artist. The artist laughingly suggested that, "it took nearly thirty years to prove her right." Mr. Bodily began oil painting at 14, and oil has been his primary medium since that time. He has also completed a number of works in pen and ink, but at present works almost entirely in oils. "I would like to do more pen and inks, but I´m so busy now with oils that I really can't find the time." After completing high school, Mr. Bodily studied commercial art for two years at Brigham Young University in Utah. He found during those two years that commercial art held little interest for him as a lifetime pursuit and at the end of two years he accepted a call to serve a two and one half year mission for his church to the Spanish speaking peoples of Texas and New Mexico. During this period, and shortly afterward, he traveled extensively in the southwest and expanded his interest in contemporary and historical Indian culture to include those of the southwest. Those years influenced his art and this influence can occasionally be noted in the rich colors used in the countryside depicted in some of his works.

Anthony Barham Country Farm Hog Oil Painting Lot #470 (Sale Order 475 of 819) Wonderful oil on board by artist Anthony Barham. Reverse is also painted as is customary with Barham's portraits. 13.75" by 15.75" in frame. Middleburg artist Anthony Barham grew up in England surrounded by art and antiques. His father owned an antique shop on famed Portobello Road in London and another in Plymouth. Barham traveled with his father throughout England on buying trips, along the way developing his eye for art. The Portobello Road shop, built in 1863, originally housed The Portobello Dairy. It was three stories tall — space that was needed as Barham’s father would often purchase rooms of paintings at a time. It was there that Barham began to paint by restoring his father’s purchases. He also learned gilding and frame restoration, crafts he still practices today. Barham moved to America in 1994 and studied art for seven years at the Art League in Alexandria, Virginia. To visit the studio that merges with that of his wife’s, Misia Broadhead, one is surrounded by the paintings of two prolific artists: still lifes, landscapes, portraits, figure studies, allegories and an abundance of foxes, pigs, birds, cats and dogs. The paintings are small to large. They hang from the walls, line the shelves and lean in layers against the furniture and wall vacancies where nothing else is hung. Known as Broadhead Barham Studio, it is an enthralling environment that never ceases to amaze and delight. Barham has painted commissions for Senator John Warner and Paul Mellon and a significant portion of his current work involves commissions for paintings of dogs and other pets. Barham’s process is to get to know the pet first, beginning by shooting videos and listening to the owner’s comments about its personality.

J.R. Eason Montana Indian Cowgirl Bronze Lot #727 (Sale Order 734 of 819) Very nice bronze. Artist is JR Eason of Montana. 13.5" long, 7.5" tall. Signed. JR Eason sculpts what she knows best - people and their universal emotions. In doing this, she draws from her own well of emotion and finds it unnecessary to rely on photos or any means outside of her "self". Eason’s sculpture is easily recognized. With each piece, representational or stylized, the viewer is immediately drawn to the face. Here, you see and feel the emotion and relate to the message the artist portrays. Her unique, stylized form lends an earthiness that maximizes the subject of the piece. JR’s confidence in her own unique style developed after she determined to step out of the norm of ‘Western sculptureâ€, and fulfill her own expressive urges. Once gaining the credibility and success through museums and galleries, JR let go of her boundaries and her distinctive style came through. Born on a rural Idaho ranch, JR currently resides in Scottsdale, AZ, showing her works, and connecting with those who appreciate, and collect her figurative sculpture. JR has enjoyed a successful career as a full-time professional artist since 1988. JR’s work is collected throughout the United States and Canada, as well as over seas. She is represented with Fine Art Galleries throughout the states.

Woody Crumbo Spirit Horse Taos Indian Lot #752 (Sale Order 759 of 819) Very nice Serigraph by Woody Crumbo. 10" by 12" matted. Woodrow Wilson "Woody" Crumbo (January 21, 1912—April 4, 1989) (Potawatomi) was an artist, Native American flute player, and dancer who lived and worked mostly in the West of the United States. A transcript of his daughter's interview shows that Mr. Crumbo was born on January 31, 1912, so there is a discrepancy of the date until confirmation.[2] As an independent prospector in New Mexico in the late 1950s, he found one of the largest beryllium veins in the nation, valued at millions of dollars.[3] His paintings are held by several major museums, including the Smithsonian Institution and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, with a large collection at the Thomas Gilcrease Institute in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Crumbo was a 1978 inductee into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame for his paintings. He was appointed as an "ambassador of good will" for Oklahoma in 1982 by Governor George Nigh.

Robert Chee Navajo Indian Bear And Bees Lot #754 (Sale Order 761 of 819) Nice Serigraph by Robert Chee. Roadrunner. 10" by 12" including matte. Artist Robert Chee was Diné painter. He frequently used dark backgrounds on his paintings and often used gold paint. His work is very fluid and with exceptional detail and finesse. The colors are bright, but soft at the same time. Archie Blackowl Cheyenne Indian Serigraph Lot #756 (Sale Order 763 of 819) Nice Serigraph by Archie Black Owl. Roadrunner. 10" by 12" including matte. Archie Blackowl was born in Custer County, Oklahoma, on November 23, 1911. Indigenous artists, such as Blackowl, grew up being sensitive to nature. Archie's culture made him sensitive to natural textures, which created a traditional Indian school of painting (much like the Kiowa art movement from Oklahoma). This included flat shaded native images and was an encouraged style in art competitions (Oklahoma 1946). For the public, it encompassed a "real Indian art" which Archie helped to contribute to. Though some scholars say this is the only legitimate art, it proved to be a unique piece of a large mosaic of art.
