"The doll is made of firmly-pressed black wool felt and has a swivel head. It has applied felt eye whites and lips, painted nostrils, black shoe-button eye pupils, black wiry frizzed hair. It has a very plump torso with jointing at shoulders, hips and short plump legs. The doll was shown in the first Lenci advertisement of 1920, and is one of the rare earliest models. The doll is in good condition, but it does have some holes on the lower legs. There is an original 1920's paper tag, wrapped in plastic and attached to one of the felt strips in the rush skirt. 26" European folk art Merry Go Round Carousel with working clockwork mechanism.

The total dimensions of the piece are 26"T x 18" x 18" (at the widest point of the tent top), and it weighs 16 pounds. The carousel has the appearance of having been handmade. The base is hexagonal and made of thick heavy grade wood. It has been covered in decorative papers. It has two hand carved/cut large horses and two smaller ones. They are hand painted in old milk paint that is fading and flaking, but still presents well. The horses have thick leather handcut tails and modeled saddles. There are two tin crescent moon shaped seats that have been painted blue with tole-painted flowers. The pitched tent top is made of a heavy grade canvas, that could easily be recovered with colorful fabric or silk. The hand crank winds up nicely and the carousel plays music and spins. Interesting side note, the roof of the sitting area is made from a colorful old European advertising sign for liquor. It shows a young lady holding a bottle at the top and a picture of the factory at the bottom, plus many of the assorted liquors that they offered. There is a partial word "COLAR" showing. This is a wonderful and rustic piece of folk art. We have tried to disassemble it for easier shipping and it will not come apart. So it will need to be shipped as seen. The light oak furniture appears to be made by Robert L Carlise with many pieces signed by the artist. The room box contains three rooms consisting of a foyer, dining room and kitchen. All are decorated in early 20th century style furniture, furnishings and miniatures. All is contained in a wooden box structure with an attached glass front panel and topped with a removeable glass lid, for easy access to the room. The craftsman, Robert L Carlise, was known for his highly detailed reproductions of furniture, in miniature, with special attention paid to scale. "This is a wonderful grouping of vintage and antique dresser or trinkett boxes. The smallest is 1 1/2""T and has sculpted pansies and a pale pink lining. The next two are 2 1/2"" and 3"" tall and heavily Art Nouveau styled with molded vines and flowers. One has a hinged lid and the other lid just pops off. Both are finished off in gold paint and one has a burgundy silk lining (may be newer). The next is 3""T and a faded silver tone. It is heavily embossed with scrolling vines and flowers. It has it's original pink silk lining (frail). The next two are 2 1/2""-2 2/4"" tall and done in a gilt pierced roccoco style. Each one has a beveled glass lid hinged lid. He has jointed arms and the head pops off to expose the candy holder; a 14""T felt man with crossed legs in a seated position. He is made of felt with applied felt features. He is wearing a felt hat with a ""RETIRED"" ribbon tag on the front. "The 24"" girl is a Kestner 154 shoulderhead on a kid body with sleep eyes. She has excellent bisque and is mounted on a kid body that has a few repairs, but is still very sturdy. The 17"" character baby is a 985 by AM and it has excellent bisque. He is mounted on a very clean composition body. He is dressed in a hand knit cotton dressing gown with matching bonnet. "The groups contains: a 6"" googly-eyed bisque baby by Barbara Fernando. It is in nice condition, but has some breakage on the porcelain lace trim of the bonne; a pair of 6"" felt flower children by Sue McFadden. They are tagged on the back, â€œMIS BLUE FLOWER, SUE MCFADDEN, 1997"" and â€œSUNFLOWER, 1997, SUE MCFADDEN"". Both are in good condition with only mild dusting. Each one has a paper wrist tag; a 13"" elephant and mouse by Sandra Arteaga called â€œSolomon & Jose"". They are in very good condiiton with slight dusting. Also included in the lot is a soft past pitcher that is covered with graphics of animals and children at play.
