But please understand, if you win a coin and receive it and send it out to one of the grading companies and it comes back graded less than I estimated or "genuine but Ungradeable", we will not buy back that coin. Lot #6 of the 450 Masonic Tokens from The Walter O. Collection. We Recently received a very Large Collection of 450 Masonic Tokens and coins. This collection was one man’s hobby for over 40 years. He collected each and every one with care and attention to detail and variety. Some of them are amazing and incredibly rare and highly sought by collectors and Masons. Here is a Brief Overview : Masonic coins often raise many questions for those looking to better understand the significance of the coins themselves as well as the symbolism represented in their imagery. In fraternal culture as a whole, symbolism has always been a significant part of these organizations’ identity, especially in Freemasonry, as Masonic coins are rich with symbolism, reflecting different events and characteristics of Freemasonry that give them the priceless value they hold. There are several varieties of masonic coins and tokens, and all tokens will fall into one of the following categories: a token celebrating a particular mason, lodge or event; an initiation token showing when a Brother was initiated, passed and raised; and finally the mark mason token (or penny) which signifies a pivotal part of a Mason’s initiation. Because symbolism was so important to fraternal culture, these small coins are rife with meaning. The most ubiquitous representation of the Masons was the letter "G" surrounded by a compass and square, representing the holy geometry of God. Some tokens feature the letters "H.T.W.S.S.T.K.S.," which means "Hiram the Widow's Son Sent to King Solomon," the biblical story that must be acted out to reach the third, or Master's Degree, in Freemasonry. Additionally, many contain either Apron and gloves: These symbols stand for living with a pure heart and to keep one’s hands clean. All-seeing eye: This symbol is designed to remind Masons that God and others always see their thoughts and actions. Ashlars: You may see rough and smooth ashlars on Masonic coins. They are to remind Masons of the contrast between man’s natural state and perfection and the Level: This symbol found on some Masonic coins reminds Masons that everyone is equal before God. We have broken the set up into groups of 5 Tokens in each lot. We have put 5 Lots per night over the 18 Nights of the Spring Auctions.

Group of 3 Special Mint Sets 1965-1967 15 coins. In 1964, just when the mint was removing 90% silver coins from circulation, and the us was having a coin shortage, the Mint announced that beginning in 1965, no Proof Sets, or Mint Sets would be produced, Instead they would be making a Special Mint Set. Special Mint Set coins were not proofs, and were not uncirculated, Mint State pieces. Dies for the coins were over polished, while the planchet themselves were not polished. The resulting SMS coins have a brilliant, proof like appearance, much nicer than the run-of-the-mill circulation coins. In 1965 these sets were released in the Traditional Mint Cellophane and White Envelope and in 1966 and 1967 they were packaged in hard, pale blue plastic holders. Note, the set contains a 40% Half Dollar.

Scattered carbon flecks are also noted, commensurate with the assigned grade, although iridescent toning is minimal and largely confined to the obverse. Definitely a premium quality RB example, the reverse retains nearly complete rose-red color, the obverse much of the same. The copper coinage of 1847 was the first for the Hawaiian Islands and several minor varieties -- date styles and berry counts -- are known. All are fairly elusive, especially in Choice Mint State as offered here. The 1847 Hawaii cents were struck by the Attleboro, Massachusetts firm of H.M. & E.I. Richards. They bore the blundered legend HAPA HANERI in place of the proper HAPA HANELE

Ranked #16 in the 100 Greatest American Currency Notes, the Series 1899 Black Eagle note is from an era when paper money was backed by precious silver, as the issue bears the statement ONE SILVER DOLLAR PAYABLE TO THE BEARER ON DEMAND. It doesn’t take much work to figure out the nickname of the 1899 $1 silver certificate. A quick glance shows three vignettes, an eagle, Ulysses S Grant, and Abraham Lincoln. Somewhere along the way the collecting world decided that this note should be called a “black eagle.” The name has stuck. Whether you have been collected for a week or your entire life, you certainly know what a black eagle is. Grant and Lincoln often get overlooked. That might be for the best since both men are closely associated with several other large size pieces of currency. Up for auction is a Consignment I have secured a collection of old 1960’s Las Vegas Casino Half Dollar Shot Gun Rolls from various Casinos. These Rolls contain 20 Half Dollars. They have tight ends and are wild!. I opened three rolls to examine the contents and what I found was mostly Circulated Walkers, a few Franklins and a Seated coin or two and a couple of Barbers. But after I opened the rolls, I wished I hadn’t as they were so cool as antique Las Vegas Half Rolls. I have only seen a handful of these ever. The consignee has given us some additional rolls. We estimate the rolls to be worth $2000 each as a collectable antique, but if the roll is opened and has a rare date, who knows the value, a 1921 Walker even in low grade is worth over $500, and several other dates are worth over $200 each. But who knows, maybe a rare 1878-s Seated is inside. ($35k in g4), or an 1892-o Barber ($5k in G4). In any event the rolls themselves are amazing collectibles of a bygone era of the Rat pack and Las Vegas. From the rolls we have received there are 10 different casinos. Good Luck.

Full rims and dentils are seldom seen at the Fine grade level, since many lower-grade coins lack edge detail between 10 and 2 o'clock on the obverse. The reverse is likewise weak below the denomination. This Choice Fine example is an exception, with complete borders and exceptional detail for the grade. All of the raised elements show above-average definition for the grade. Rich-silver patina blankets both sides for sharp eye appeal, and there are no distracting marks or abrasions. The First National Bank Of Racine in Ohio printed $201,600 dollars worth of national currency. That is a small output. National bank notes from here Are quite Scarce. This note belongs to an important series of United States currency in that it is the last type note of National Bank Currency printed in the old larger size. At the beginning of the final charter of notes (1929) all the new notes are made in the new smaller size. This note also features the portrait of William McKinley, who had been shot and killed at the Pan-American Exposition just a few months before the first notes in this series were printed and released bearing his image. National bank notes are different from other nationally printed currency in that they are printed specifically for each individual chartered bank organization. This assisted greatly in creating a system of bank notes that were the same across the country. This aided in travelers knowing what they were spending and receiving in change, rather than the times when each bank and state printed their own currency with their own designs. The National Bank Note system was abandoned shortly after the changeover to smaller size notes in 1929, making the third charter notes the last truly used issue of this kind.

However, those pieces that grade AU or Mint State are elusive, and demand for such pieces is at a high level. There were no quantities of this issue that appeared in the early 1960s U.S. Treasury dispersal. Afterward, demand for high-grade circulated examples escalated. This impressive near-Mint example would feel right at home in a Mint State collection of Morgan dollars, while saving the collector significant funds to be used for other components of the collection. Both sides are nicely toned, the obverse has great luster commensurate with the grade, but the reverse has less luster than appropriate for the grade, which is the root of the details grade. A remarkably well preserved and attractive example of this popular Carson City Mint issue. Undeniably original surfaces are bathed in a blend of softly frosted luster and handsome rose-orange surfaces. Fully struck, aesthetically pleasing, and sure to sell for a strong bid. Only 81,139 double eagles were coined at the Carson City Mint in 1884 (equal to $1,622,780 in face value). Although most known examples are circulated, hundreds of Mint State coins also exist. Many were shipped overseas for payments that required gold. Q. David Bowers said that these first started to appear in returns from foreign bank holdings beginning around 1950. His 2004 Guide Book of Double Eagles, published by Whitman, gave a high end estimate of 500 pieces for the Mint State population. While this is a generous population by Carson City Mint double eagle standards, the vast majority of Uncirculated coins are in the lowest grades (read: MS-60 and MS-61). Virtually Choice, the example offered here is sure to have no difficulty finding its way into another highly regarded double eagle set. This 1882 $20 Gold Certificate, an incredible condition rarity.This design ranks #95 in 100 Greatest American Currency Notes by Q. David Bowers and David M. Sundman. The face depicts the recently martyred (1881) President James Garfield, while the back shows an eagle clutching a lightning bolt, with two cable-laying ships in the distance, titled Ocean Telegraph, engraved by George D. Baldwin. A portrait of Garfield also appears on the $5 National Bank Notes of 1882; a close copy mirror-imaged. The inscription "GOLD COIN" is in the "shingle"-style lettering layout. Gold coins, absent from commerce since the waning days of December 1861, achieved parity with Legal Tender and other paper on December 17, 1878. The Atlantic telegraph, as it was best known, was completed in the summer of 1858 amidst great celebrations on both sides of the Atlantic. In New York City a grand display was held in the streets and within the Crystal Palace. Conceived by Cyrus W. Field, the connection made possible fast communications between Europe and America, with great implications for news and financial information. The transmission was not instantaneous, however. A message of 99 words from Queen Victoria to President Andrew Johnson took 67 minutes to transmit. This was deemed satisfactory, far eclipsing the sending of news by steamship. There was trouble, signals were often interrupted or incomplete, and the last clear message was received on September 1. Soon afterward, the project was abandoned. Not until after the Civil War was an effective connection made. In 1866 the S.S. Great Eastern laid new cable and repaired some cable laid in 1865, achieving the success that is honored on this note design. The print run of F-1178 (W-2220) was 16,344,000. PMG estimate that about 525 to 550 survive in All Grades

***Auction Highlight*** Ultra Rare 1862 Gault’s Encased Postage EP-40 w/ Silvering 3c Burnett’s Extract Graded vf35 By SEGS. Up for Auction is One of The Civil War’s Foremost Rarities, The “Encased Postage” coin. While not Technically a Coin, a Note or a Stamp, John Gault’s Encased Postage was king of currency For a Brief Year in 1862. When The Civil war Broke out in 1861, all of the “Hard Currency” quickly Disappeared. But people still needed to purchase a 3¢ loaf of bread, a 1¢ newspaper, a 5¢ quart of milk and countless other goods that required coins. And vendors had to make change when an item’s price was less than a nickel, a dime or a quarter. In some cities, businesses gave customers I.O.Us, private companies created “Civil War tokens” and paper money was cut into several pieces to represent a fraction of a dollar. Clever remedies for sure, but none that were widely used or accepted. All of this radically changed on July 17, 1862, when Congress decided to address the coinage shortage and passed a law that allowed postage stamps to satisfy debts of less than $5. People began to carry stamps in their purses and pockets and used them repeatedly for daily purchases. Vendors gladly accepted the stamps as payment. But all of this hand-to-hand usage quickly resulted in damaged stamps with denominations sometimes unrecognizable. The local post offices would not exchange damaged stamps for new ones, so a remedy was needed. John Gault, a New York entrepreneur, decided he had the best solution. On August 12, 1862, Gault obtained a patent for a “postage stamp case”, or as he named the item in a newspaper advertisement, the “New Metallic Currency. Gault didn’t sell the encased stamps to the public. Instead, he sold them to stores and businesses that needed “coinage” to make change for customers’ purchases. Gault’s profit came from the 20% markup over the face value of the stamp. To increase his potential profit, Gault’s second idea was to inscribe advertising on the back of the encased stamp. He would charge companies who purchased the metallic currency an additional 2¢ for each item. Encased stamps were widely accepted in the general commerce realm until later in 1862 when the government issued “fractional currency”. This legitimate, government-sanctioned currency quickly eliminated the coin shortage. Having no other value than the stamp, people tore apart the encasements of their metallic currency to remove the stamp to use as postage. Thus the scarcity of the 1862 encased stamps today. The Example being offered today is EP-40, Burnett’s Standard Cooking Extracts of Lemo Vanilla Almond Rose & C&C, 3c Rose Colored Washington Stamp, The Rare Silvering on the case is still mostly intact, the Red Stamp is faded and the Mica is intact with a Natural imperfection. It was the darkest days of World War II, just after Pearl Harbor. Were the Nazis under Field Marshall Rommel preparing a massive push through North Africa? If they did, and succedded, they could use the millions of dollars in currency the seized to buy war material. To thwart this, these Silver Certificates were sent to North Africa. Each has a yellow seal on the front. If the Nazis did succeed to over run our expeditiary force, the currency would be demonetized. After the threat passed, most of these "North Africa" Notes were destroyed. Today they're hard to find.

From a robust mintage of 1.2 million pieces, the 1879-S Liberty double eagle was heavily circulated at the time of issue and many examples were used to settle large accounts in foreign trade. Many coins have been repatriated from overseas holdings in recent years, but most examples seen have excessive bagmarks from rough storage and transport. Mint State coins are scarce in today's market and high-grade examples are rare. Michael Fuljenz and Douglas Winter write in their Type Three Double Eagles, 1877-1907 reference that the 1879-S is often found weakly struck. Our Select Uncirculated offering exhibits above average striking characteristics. The obverse star centers are strong, as is most of Liberty's hair, the eagle's plumage, and peripheral lettering, all areas that typically are weak. Additionally, attractive orange-gold and yellow-green coloration bathes the lustrous surfaces of both sides. Distributed contact marks prevent a higher grade. Fortunately, though, these are fewer and of less severity than usually seen on surviving specimens of this issue. Trends on this Rare issue are ms63 $39,500 ; ms62 $14,600 - To date only 10 example, many of which are likely resubmitted coins, have graded finer. Rarity-2. Two Leaves. Au58 DetailsThis is an attractive specimen, with attractively toned surfaces and noticeably semi-proof like fields. Ample design details on both sides. Scattered tiny surface marks and faint scratches that do not impact the pleasing overall visual impression of the piece. The lack of significant luster is likely the reason for the details grade. Liberty's hair curls show strong separation, a feature seen on precious few of these important type coins. The strike is reasonably sharp too, with most of the eagle's wing feathers clearly defined by the dies, and retained through limited circulation. This first style or type of silver dollar was issued in late 1794 and through most of 1795--scarcely more than twelve months combined. The mintage reported for 1795 is 160,295 pieces with an additional 42,738 pieces that are believed to have been of the new style introduced in late 1795 of the Draped Bust, Small Eagle design. Most disappeared long ago, and finding a nearly Mint State example as seen here is quite a challenge for the collector. Up for auction is a Consignment I have secured a collection of old 1960’s Las Vegas Casino Half Dollar Shot Gun Rolls from various Casinos. These Rolls contain 20 Half Dollars. They have tight ends and are wild!. I opened three rolls to examine the contents and what I found was mostly Circulated Walkers, a few Franklins and a Seated coin or two and a couple of Barbers. But after I opened the rolls, I wished I hadn’t as they were so cool as antique Las Vegas Half Rolls. I have only seen a handful of these ever. The consignee has given us some additional rolls. We estimate the rolls to be worth $2000 each as a collectable antique, but if the roll is opened and has a rare date, who knows the value, a 1921 Walker even in low grade is worth over $500, and several other dates are worth over $200 each. But who knows, maybe a rare 1878-s Seated is inside. ($35k in g4), or an 1892-o Barber ($5k in G4). In any event the rolls themselves are amazing collectibles of a bygone era of the Rat pack and Las Vegas. From the rolls we have received there are 10 different casinos. Good Luck.

1935A $1 Silver Certificate Hawaii WWII Emergency Currency Grades vf+. 1935a $1 Silver Certificate Hawaii, Signatures of Julian & Morgenthau Grades. It was the darkest days of World War II, just after Pearl Harbor. Everybody in Hawaii was sitting on pins and needles. Were the Japanese preparing a massive invasion of the islands? If they did invade, they could use the millions of dollars in currency on the islands to buy war material. To thwart this, these $1 Federal Reserve Notes were sent to the islands. Each has a large HAWAII printed on the reverse. If the Japanese did invade, the currency would be demonetized. After the threat passed, most of these "Hawaii" Notes were destroyed. Today they're hard to find.

1928 $10 Gold Certificate, Signatures Woods/Mellon Grades vf, very fine. Alexander Hamilton is the central subject of this scarce $10 gold note, issued because of a change in the size of United States currency beginning with all series dated 1928. This change in the size of America’s currency came about from a study that had determined that printing smaller currency would save the government a hefty amount of money in production cost. Because of the nature of gold certificates – each one accompanied the deposit of gold coins – they are somewhat scarce to begin with, as gold is far more scarce than silver. Add to that the decision to drop the gold standard by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1933, thus making owning gold coin (or notes promising gold coin) illegal, and you end up with a series of notes that was printed, then recalled less than six years after their initial issue. Many of the notes were destroyed when turned in, and few of them survived. Fortunately for collectors, the restriction for owning gold certificates as collectibles was repealed by Treasury Secretary C. Douglas Dillon in 1964, but the damage had been done to the stockpiles of said notes. Not many remain of the millions that had originally been issued prior to the depression.

This 1917 $1 note is the last large-sized legal tender bank note ever issued. It's referred to as a "Horseblanket Note," due to their large size. The obverse features Washington and a vignette of Columbus sighting America. The reverse shows a "sawhorse" design. Add in the bright red seal and serial numbers and you've got a miniature work of art. The nicest one we have ever been able to bring to auction.

1935A $1 Silver Certificate Hawaii WWII Emergency Currency Rare PC Block Grades vf+. The $1 Hawaii Note Came in 7 Blocks the SC Block Which is the most common, The LC, PC (This Note), CC, and YB Blocks are All equialy as rare but are much less common then the SC Block. Then there are the ZB and AC Blocks which are Very Rare. 1935a $1 Silver Certificate Hawaii, Signatures of Julian & Morgenthau Grades. It was the darkest days of World War II, just after Pearl Harbor. Everybody in Hawaii was sitting on pins and needles. Were the Japanese preparing a massive invasion of the islands? If they did invade, they could use the millions of dollars in currency on the islands to buy war material. To thwart this, these $1 Federal Reserve Notes were sent to the islands. Each has a large HAWAII printed on the reverse. If the Japanese did invade, the currency would be demonetized. After the threat passed, most of these "Hawaii" Notes were destroyed. Today they're hard to find.

Up for auction is a Consignment I have secured a collection of old 1960’s Las Vegas Casino Half Dollar Shot Gun Rolls from various Casinos. These Rolls contain 20 Half Dollars. They have tight ends and are wild!. I opened three rolls to examine the contents and what I found was mostly Circulated Walkers, a few Franklins and a Seated coin or two and a couple of Barbers. But after I opened the rolls, I wished I hadn’t as they were so cool as antique Las Vegas Half Rolls. I have only seen a handful of these ever. The consignee has given us some additional rolls. We estimate the rolls to be worth $2000 each as a collectable antique, but if the roll is opened and has a rare date, who knows the value, a 1921 Walker even in low grade is worth over $500, and several other dates are worth over $200 each. But who knows, maybe a rare 1878-s Seated is inside. ($35k in g4), or an 1892-o Barber ($5k in G4). In any event the rolls themselves are amazing collectibles of a bygone era of the Rat pack and Las Vegas. From the rolls we have received there are 10 different casinos. Good Luck.

***Auction Highlight*** 1875-s /cc Fs-502 Trade Dollar 1 Grades Unc Details. Up for auction for the second by Sandi and me is the Legendary 1875-s s/cc Trade Dollar. Per Ron Guth at PCGS “The 1875-S over CC Trade Dollar is one of a group of interesting and unexpected varieties created when mint engravers used dies intended for one of the branch mints, then overpunched the mintmark with that from another. Thus, we see coins such as the 1875-S/CC Trade Dollar, the 1900-O/CC Morgan Dollar. and later issues such as the 1955-D/S Nickel, all of which are important coins to collectors. Currently, the 1875-S/CC is the only major Trade Dollar variety recognized by PCGS. As such, it is the rarest of all the Trade Dollars in Mint State, even edging out all of the celebrated CC issues. PCGS has only ever certified 79 coins as the s/cc. For some reason at least two Carson City reverse dies of the Type I style, with tall CC letters, had the CC mintmark partially effaced and overpunched with an S mintmark. This issue was generally unknown to numismatists until the early 1960s. One of the earliest market appearances of the variety was in New Netherlands Coin Company's sale of December 10-11, 1963; In his Encyclopedia, p. 468, Walter H. Breen credits the discovery to C.H. Farrar, who published the variety in the Numismatic Scrapbook. Today, it is considered to be scarce in lower grades and quite rare in Mint State. As it is the most significant die variety in the trade dollar series. In Mint State, the 1875-S/CC is considered to be slightly rarer than the famous 1878-CC. There are two varieties of the s/cc, the fs-501, which we sold in Spring 1, and the fs-502, which we now offer for auction. The fs-502 is considered considerably rarer than the fs-501, additionally this is a Chinese chop marked example and that even makes it rarer. The penultimate s/cc. Good luck.

Sharply struck with full smooth, frosty luster, both sides also display lovely toning in vivid golden-apricot. Struck on the eve of the Great Depression, the 8,816,000 double eagles produced at the Philadelphia Mint in 1928 proved to be by far the largest mintage, and also the last readily available issue for the entire Saint-Gaudens series. A significant portion were shipped abroad in international trade while a smaller quantity were paid out domestically. The massive Treasury melts of the 1930s took their toll on the coins that remained. The coins that sat in European and South American vaults fared better with the vast majority that returned stateside beginning in the 1940s and 1950s are Uncirculated. This issue is readily available up through Gem Mint State. However, at the Superb Gem level, the numbers diminish drastically.

***Auction Highlight*** 1860-o Variety 1 Gold Liberty Eagle 10 Graded Choice AU/BU Slider+ By USCG. Highlight of the Entire Auction – Up for Auction is a Numismatic Rarity. An very near Uncirculated 1860-o, one of the final coins struck in the New Orleans Mint, while still under US authority. This example is the Variety 1, which displays bold neck curls compared to Variety 2 and clash marks within the vertical shield stripes on the reverse, from the opening of Liberty's ear. The New Orleans Mint struck 11,100 eagles in 1860, a year in which the Southern factory focused largely on silver half dimes, quarters, half dollars, and silver dollars. Garrett and Guth in their second-edition Gold Encyclopedia call the 1860-O eagles "definitely an underrated sleeper" in the series, and Mint State examples "exceedingly rare." PCGS reports five submissions from MS60 to MS62, while NGC data show seven graded from MS60 to one MS63 (these are almost certainly not all different coins, however). The present piece shows the look of a higher grade to our eyes, attractive reddish-orange surfaces with a good strike in the central reverse but some weakness around the obverse peripheral stars, and scattered ticks and small scrapes of little import. A quite nice example of this historic Southern gold issue. It holds the lone 6th finest example known position. Trends are au58 $10,500 and ms60 $18,500. Up for auction is a Consignment I have secured a collection of old 1960’s Las Vegas Casino Half Dollar Shot Gun Rolls from various Casinos. These Rolls contain 20 Half Dollars. They have tight ends and are wild!. I opened three rolls to examine the contents and what I found was mostly Circulated Walkers, a few Franklins and a Seated coin or two and a couple of Barbers. But after I opened the rolls, I wished I hadn’t as they were so cool as antique Las Vegas Half Rolls. I have only seen a handful of these ever. The consignee has given us some additional rolls. We estimate the rolls to be worth $2000 each as a collectable antique, but if the roll is opened and has a rare date, who knows the value, a 1921 Walker even in low grade is worth over $500, and several other dates are worth over $200 each. But who knows, maybe a rare 1878-s Seated is inside. ($35k in g4), or an 1892-o Barber ($5k in G4). In any event the rolls themselves are amazing collectibles of a bygone era of the Rat pack and Las Vegas. From the rolls we have received there are 10 different casinos. Good Luck.

1935A $1 Silver Certificate Hawaii WWII Emergency Currency Rare YB Block Grades f, fine. The $1 Hawaii Note Came in 7 Blocks the SC Block Which is the most common, The LC, PC , CC, and YB Blocks are All equialy as rare but are much less common then the SC Block. Then there are the ZB and AC Blocks which are Very Rare. 1935a $1 Silver Certificate Hawaii, Signatures of Julian & Morgenthau Grades. It was the darkest days of World War II, just after Pearl Harbor. Everybody in Hawaii was sitting on pins and needles. Were the Japanese preparing a massive invasion of the islands? If they did invade, they could use the millions of dollars in currency on the islands to buy war material. To thwart this, these $1 Federal Reserve Notes were sent to the islands. Each has a large HAWAII printed on the reverse. If the Japanese did invade, the currency would be demonetized. After the threat passed, most of these "Hawaii" Notes were destroyed. Today they're hard to find.

Lot #7 of the 450 Masonic Tokens from The Walter O. Collection. We Recently received a very Large Collection of 450 Masonic Tokens and coins. This collection was one man’s hobby for over 40 years. He collected each and every one with care and attention to detail and variety. Some of them are amazing and incredibly rare and highly sought by collectors and Masons. Here is a Brief Overview : Masonic coins often raise many questions for those looking to better understand the significance of the coins themselves as well as the symbolism represented in their imagery. In fraternal culture as a whole, symbolism has always been a significant part of these organizations’ identity, especially in Freemasonry, as Masonic coins are rich with symbolism, reflecting different events and characteristics of Freemasonry that give them the priceless value they hold. There are several varieties of masonic coins and tokens, and all tokens will fall into one of the following categories: a token celebrating a particular mason, lodge or event; an initiation token showing when a Brother was initiated, passed and raised; and finally the mark mason token (or penny) which signifies a pivotal part of a Mason’s initiation. Because symbolism was so important to fraternal culture, these small coins are rife with meaning. The most ubiquitous representation of the Masons was the letter "G" surrounded by a compass and square, representing the holy geometry of God. Some tokens feature the letters "H.T.W.S.S.T.K.S.," which means "Hiram the Widow's Son Sent to King Solomon," the biblical story that must be acted out to reach the third, or Master's Degree, in Freemasonry. Additionally, many contain either Apron and gloves: These symbols stand for living with a pure heart and to keep one’s hands clean. All-seeing eye: This symbol is designed to remind Masons that God and others always see their thoughts and actions. Ashlars: You may see rough and smooth ashlars on Masonic coins. They are to remind Masons of the contrast between man’s natural state and perfection and the Level: This symbol found on some Masonic coins reminds Masons that everyone is equal before God. 1934A $10 Silver Certificate North Africa WWII Emergency Currency Grades vf+. 1934A $10 Silver Certificate North Africa, Signatures Julian/Morganthau. It was the darkest days of World War II, just after Pearl Harbor. Were the Nazis under Field Marshall Rommel preparing a massive push through North Africa? If they did, and succedded, they could use the millions of dollars in currency the seized to buy war material. To thwart this, these Silver Certificates were sent to North Africa. Each has a yellow seal on the front. If the Nazis did succeed to over run our expeditiary force, the currency would be demonetized. After the threat passed, most of these "North Africa" Notes were destroyed. Today they're hard to find.

Up for auction is a Consignment I have secured a collection of old 1960’s Las Vegas Casino Half Dollar Shot Gun Rolls from various Casinos. These Rolls contain 20 Half Dollars. They have tight ends and are wild!. I opened three rolls to examine the contents and what I found was mostly Circulated Walkers, a few Franklins and a Seated coin or two and a couple of Barbers. But after I opened the rolls, I wished I hadn’t as they were so cool as antique Las Vegas Half Rolls. I have only seen a handful of these ever. The consignee has given us some additional rolls. We estimate the rolls to be worth $2000 each as a collectable antique, but if the roll is opened and has a rare date, who knows the value, a 1921 Walker even in low grade is worth over $500, and several other dates are worth over $200 each. But who knows, maybe a rare 1878-s Seated is inside. ($35k in g4), or an 1892-o Barber ($5k in G4). In any event the rolls themselves are amazing collectibles of a bygone era of the Rat pack and Las Vegas. From the rolls we have received there are 10 different casinos. Good Luck.

The lone ms64 sett a record for the issue when it brought a strong $70,550 in the Stacks Bowers Americana Auction (2/2013), lot 2178. The last Uncirculated example, another ms61, sold in February of 2020 and realized $11,40. This impressive Mint State specimen exhibits nicely detailed design elements, aside from a touch of the usual softness on some of the stars. ***Auction Highlight*** 1895-p Gold Liberty Double Eagle $20 Graded Select+ Unc By USCG. Up for Auction is a very lustrous and attractive 1895-p $20 Liberty Gold Double Eagle. The 1895-p is very scarce in higher grades. None have been graded higher than ms65. Gorgeous rose-orange patina mingles with fulsome satin luster on both sides of this beautiful choice uncirculated example. Nicely struck and nearly smooth enough to secure an even higher grade. Most Uncirculated coins are from repatriations of quantities that fled the country in the mid-1890s. The Treasury was required to keep at least $100,000,000 in gold coins on hand, but in February 1895 just $41,393,212 was in the coffers. Gold coins by the millions continued to be shipped overseas, however, as the value of silver was less than half that of gold and foreign traders insisted on payments in the yellow metal. President Grover Cleveland reached a deal with J.P. Morgan & Co. and August Belmont & Co. of New York, in cooperation with N.M. ***Auction Highlight*** 1836 Reeded Edge GR-12 Capped Bust Half Dollar 50c Graded xf45 details By SEGS. Lovely rim toning highlights this ultra rare 1836 Reeded Edge Half Dollar, GR-1 R2. Good detail throughout the devices. The details designation is due to some light hairlines on the obverse which can be seen with the ad of a loupe. These Reeded Edge half dollars were struck late in 1836 and were some of the first coins struck on the new steam powered coining press. At last the variable human element was removed from striking the coins and the result is a more uniform and predictable strike on each coin made with such a machine. As a tighter collar was used to hold the planchet in place, this no longer allowed for lettering on the edge, as lettering would cause the struck coin to stick in the collar and not eject properly. Thus reeding was imparted by the collar, and coins could be ejected efficiently as part of the striking process and recoil of the dies. The mintage of the Reeded Edge half dollar of 1836 is reported by the Guide Book as 1,200+ pieces of which only a few hundred are known today. This example will serve well to represent this important technological achievement which finally allowed for more mechanized production of dies and of striking the coins in a uniform manner. It is highly lustrous with a softly frosted finish and both sides are brilliant apart from wisps of pale gold iridescence in and around the perimeters. The strike is above average for a San Francisco dollar of this type, with the overall detail bold and the centers showing plenty of emerging definition.Although it did not have the lowest mintage in its series, the 1934-S has long been recognized as the rarest Peace dollar in terms of total number of Mint State coins extant. Writing in his 1993 reference Silver Dollars & Trade Dollars of the United States: A Complete Encyclopedia, Q. David Bowers speculates that many of the 1,011,000 coins minted went into circulation as early as the mid to late 1930s, most being paid out for face value from the San Francisco Mint or West Coast banks. Dealers and other numismatists active in the market of the 1940s paid little attention to the 1934-S, falsely believing that thousands of Mint State coins were still safely tucked away in vaults at the San Francisco Mint. Winter estimates that only 3-5 pieces are extant in AU condition. Slight softness of strike is seen in the centers, but overall this is a well defined coin for the issue. Numerous small abrasions are scattered over each side, as one would expect for a coin in this grade, but the only mentionable ones are in the field parallel to Liberty's nose and another angling mark above the eagle's head. How did the inverted overprint errors happen?The BEP’s assistant director for operations at the time the Series 1974 notes were being printed, E.J. Prescott, said that, when the errors were printed, the BEP was conducting experiments with the note inspection equipment in connection with its Currency Overprinting Processing Equipment. Changes in procedure during the experimentation factored into producing the rash of errors. According to the BEP, the resulting notes were due to human error “almost exclusively.”During the experimentation, printed notes were being mechanically moved for inspection instead of being manually retrieved for examination for anomalies that would require their removal from progress toward distribution. This interruption in the usual process apparently played a significant role in creating the errors. The inverted overprint error notes occurred when 16-subject half sheets were turned the wrong direction before insertion into the overprinting equipment. All of the overprinting elements were thus inverted from their normal positioning.

HIGHLIGHT OF THE ENTIRE AUCTION - Up for Auction is the First Half Cent Struck in the Fledgling United States, The “Left facing Half Cent” - The C-1 variety is considered by most specialists to be the first 1793 half cent struck, according to die state and emission sequence analysis. Four varieties are known for the 1793 half cents, and they were produced in an unbroken chain consisting of two obverse and three reverse dies. The total mintage for the year was 35,334 coins, all produced during the summer 1793, beginning on July 20. Walter Breen made a case for Adam Eckfeldt as the designer of these coins, although other specialists have disputed such an attribution. It is not known who actually prepared the design and the dies for these first half cents, although it may have been Joseph Wright, who designed the Liberty Cap large cents two months later.At the time, half cents and large cents were not actually legal tender issues, a status reserved for silver and gold coins that were first produced in the following year. Section 16 of the Mint Act of April 2, 1792 specifically stated: "That all the gold and silver coins which shall have been struck at, and issued from the said mint, shall be a lawful tender in all payments whatsoever, those of full weight according to the respective values herein before declared, and those of less than full weight at values proportional to their respective weights."This example is a lovely dark olive piece with glossy surfaces and only a trace of rub on the high points. The surfaces have light planchet striations or rifts as struck. In addition, a few post-mint abrasions are evident, but clearly not significant. The 1796, BB-61 is rare in About Uncirculated or finer condition. The Bowers reference suggests no more than 30 pieces exist in any AU grade, and only about a dozen Mint State pieces are known. This example is remarkably well-defined with smooth, toned fields and nice mint luster that glows beneath the toning. Light hairlines are present, but unnoticeable without aid of a loupe. Bands of slate-blue alternate with areas of tan-gold patina on the obverse, while the blue overtones are less prevalent on the still-lustrous reverse. Slight wear on Liberty's temple and the eagle's breast indicate minimal circulation.One other variety exists with the Small Date, Large Letters configuration -- the BB-64 die marriage -- but that reverse die failed early and only two or three examples are confirmed, making the BB-61 the sole 1796 die pair to represent the type. ***Auction Highlight*** 1916-d Mercury Dime 10c Graded Select Unc By USCG. HIGHLIGHT OF THE MONTH - Up for auction is a coin that usually comes between ag and vg. Up for auction is the legendary 1916-d Mercury Dime, but this time its in mint state ms62. At first glance this piece suggests a finer grade in terms of its overall appeal. The silvery surfaces are frosty, with cartwheel luster and a tinge of gold on each side. Under a high-power loupe, a few tiny areas of dark toning appear--on the obverse near the top rim and on the reverse tucked into some of the device crevices--but they are not readily visible otherwise. The horizontal bands are completely visible, but they are neither fully split nor totally rounded, the criteria for a Full Bands designation. This piece is nonetheless quite appealing and will fit well into a Mint State or high-grade circulated set A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. Up for auction is a Consignment I have secured a collection of old 1960’s Las Vegas Casino Half Dollar Shot Gun Rolls from various Casinos. These Rolls contain 20 Half Dollars. They have tight ends and are wild!. I opened three rolls to examine the contents and what I found was mostly Circulated Walkers, a few Franklins and a Seated coin or two and a couple of Barbers. But after I opened the rolls, I wished I hadn’t as they were so cool as antique Las Vegas Half Rolls. I have only seen a handful of these ever. The consignee has given us some additional rolls. We estimate the rolls to be worth $2000 each as a collectable antique, but if the roll is opened and has a rare date, who knows the value, a 1921 Walker even in low grade is worth over $500, and several other dates are worth over $200 each. But who knows, maybe a rare 1878-s Seated is inside. ($35k in g4), or an 1892-o Barber ($5k in G4). In any event the rolls themselves are amazing collectibles of a bygone era of the Rat pack and Las Vegas. From the rolls we have received there are 10 different casinos. Good Luck.

None other have ever graded ms67. This coin has long been held in a private collection in New Hampshire, never having been graded, until just before this auction. No other 1879-o has ever risen to this lofty grade, and the example at hand deserves it. In A Guide Book of Morgan Silver Dollars, fifth edition, Dave Bowers does not even mention MS66 examples of the 1879-O. Rather, the silver dollar authority writes: "MS-64 coins are scarce, and in proportion to the demand for them, MS-65 pieces are rare. ... Bag marks are a huge problem." The Premium Gem population is so small that most collectors will never be able to acquire such a coin. No 1879-O Morgans are known finer.This dazzling MS67 coin is at the top of the Condition Census and is truly about as close to perfection as a Morgan can get without crossing that landmark border to 68. Then there are the ZB and AC Blocks which are Very Rare. 1935a $1 Silver Certificate Hawaii, Signatures of Julian & Morgenthau Grades. It was the darkest days of World War II, just after Pearl Harbor. Everybody in Hawaii was sitting on pins and needles. Were the Japanese preparing a massive invasion of the islands? If they did invade, they could use the millions of dollars in currency on the islands to buy war material. To thwart this, these $1 Federal Reserve Notes were sent to the islands. Each has a large HAWAII printed on the reverse. If the Japanese did invade, the currency would be demonetized. After the threat passed, most of these "Hawaii" Notes were destroyed. Today they're hard to find.

Bright and satiny, this delightful Gem also sports some attractive rim toning that further enhances already strong eye appeal. The Carson City Mint produced a significant number of quarter dollars in this year -- nearly five million were struck. Most of these entered circulation in due course, but a few hundred apparently survived in various Mint State grades. At the Gem level of preservation, this date and mint becomes a condition rarity that is still obtainable with patience, and numismatists of all sorts would do well to secure a Gem like this example to represent the date and mint of this popular centennial issue.On May 10, 1876, the Centennial Exposition opened in Philadelphia and continued for several months to celebrate the founding of America. Progress included a new record time for the Transcontinental Express train which arrived in San Francisco on June 4, less than 84 hours after leaving New York City, opening doors for rapid transportation across the country. Meanwhile Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer met his fate along with another 267 members of the 7th Calvary Regiment and scouts at the Little Bighorn in the Montana Territory at the hands of some 5,000 Lakota, Cheyenne and Arapaho led by Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse on June 24-25 of that year. 1935A $1 Silver Certificate Hawaii WWII Emergency Currency Rare CC Block Grades f+. The $1 Hawaii Note Came in 7 Blocks the SC Block Which is the most common, The LC, PC , CC, and YB Blocks are All equialy as rare but are much less common then the SC Block. Then there are the ZB and AC Blocks which are Very Rare. 1935a $1 Silver Certificate Hawaii, Signatures of Julian & Morgenthau Grades. It was the darkest days of World War II, just after Pearl Harbor. Everybody in Hawaii was sitting on pins and needles. Were the Japanese preparing a massive invasion of the islands? If they did invade, they could use the millions of dollars in currency on the islands to buy war material. To thwart this, these $1 Federal Reserve Notes were sent to the islands. Each has a large HAWAII printed on the reverse. If the Japanese did invade, the currency would be demonetized. After the threat passed, most of these "Hawaii" Notes were destroyed. Today they're hard to find.
