1970 Honda C70 "Suitcase Scooter"

Lot #008 (Sale Order 8 of 165)

The “suitcase cycle” was an innovation that took existing small scooters and cycles and modified them for easy disassembly and storage during flight. Once on the ground, the pilot could easily remove their cycle, reassemble, and have motorized ground transportation. This particular Honda was modified and sold by the S&K Suitcase Cycle Co. of Santa Monica California. Sold with a bill of sale.

Lot #018 (Sale Order 18 of 165)

This fine example of a classic British sports car was manufactured and marketed from 1962 until 1980 by the British Motor Corporation. All MGBs (except the V8 version) used the BMC B-Series engine. For 1972, the MGB featured a new interior and fascia. This British Racing Green convertible has a new soft top. The clutch was recently replaced and the vehicle was tuned and serviced. 1988 Mercedes Benz 560 SL Roadster 1988 Mercedes Benz 560 SL Roadster

1988 Mercedes Benz 560 SL Roadster

Lot #022 (Sale Order 22 of 165)

With 126,000 miles on the odometer, this Benz is just coming into its prime years. These engines are well known for their longevity and this one is a great example. Always being stored indoors and spending every November to May in storage has kept this vehicle in prime condition. Tires have approx. 8,000 on them. In 2017 a full tune-up was done with new plugs etc. After coming out of winter storage in May 2018, the car was uncharacteristically being difficult to start. Brought to a very experienced and knowledgeable Benz mechanic, it was found that some of the vacuum hoses were beginning to crack. After replacing all the hoses in the engine compartment, along with the Throttle Actuator and Voltage relay, the car went back to its old self and now fires up right way. Even after its long winter storage periods. It now runs and drives like it’s new again. If you have never driven one, there is nothing like old school Benz power and handling. 2500 RPM will get you to 82 MPH and if you don’t pay attention, you will crack 90 and not even feel like you are moving. (Don’t try this at home folks.) I had to unwrap the hardtop from being stored for these photos as it has not been on the car in 7 years. Car is always in the garage under a cover with the top down, ready to go when the day is going to stay nice. (Car has not seen rain in MANY years.) Look underneath and there is no rust to be found. As you can see from the photos the car is in beautiful condition and ready to move into your garage. Only known issue is that the power antenna needs help going down. (Works fine going up.)

1929 Ford Model A Custom

Lot #030 (Sale Order 30 of 165)

Classic custom car enthusiasts should take note of this true 1950’s built Ford Model A V8. It was built in California and later owned by Danny McCue of Santa Barbara and came to Maine in the 1980’s. The paperwork showing the California ownership background went missing while the car was in PA. It now has a clean PA title. Up front this Model A custom is powered by a 59A series Ford flathead V-8 and backed with a 1939 style transmission. The 1942-48 era engine has Edelbrock aluminum cylinder heads and Edelbrock two carb intake manifold with a pair of Stromberg 97 carburetors. Chromed tube exhaust headers lead to a chrome plated dual exhaust system. The tailpipes show some deterioration but are believed to be original to the 1950’s build. A modified Lincoln Zephyr distributor with a dual coil provides ignition. The frame and body are original Ford components with no rust or rust repair. There are no reproduction body parts on this car. The 60+ year old paint on the chassis shows some deterioration but the white pin-striping on the maroon paint is still bright. Hydraulic brakes are 40-48 Ford style, steering box is F-1 Ford, wheels are 15” postwar Ford with Coker Whitewalls, 8.00×15 on the rear and 6.70×15 on front. The front axle has a 4” drop and the back axle is Model A. A new six-volt battery is mounted in the rear with new battery cables and the starter has been rebuilt. Sealed beam headlights have pre-1956 style bulbs. The original Spartan horn has a chrome-plated trumpet. Fender welting is bright finish against the all-black bodywork. There are some nicks, chips and scratches in the paint, as on would expect of 60+ year old lacquer. The top dates from the fifties build and is reasonably good with some staining. Red “Naugahyde “ upholstery is in very good condition. It has had a recent full service and tune up. The engine runs well, starts easily although it can be a bit fussy when cold as no chokes are fitted to the carbs…Southern California car. Even without a fan the engine does not overheat in traffic. The car will run down the road happily at 60.

1986 Mazda RX-7 1986 Mazda RX-7

1986 Mazda RX-7

Lot #033 (Sale Order 33 of 165)

Redesigned for 1986, the Mazda RX-7 grew up a bit, becoming more of a sophisticated GT sports car. The styling sported subtly flared fenders along with the oh-so-’80s pop-up headlights. It also packed more power from the rotary engine, now up to 142 horses which, thanks to the RX-7’s light weight (under 2,800 pounds) provided peppy acceleration to go along with its athletic handling. This RX-7 is the high end GXL trim level, with alloy wheels, A/C, a power sunroof and a plush interior with power windows, tilt wheel, cruise control and an AM/FM/Cassette audio system with equalizer. The all original body is in excellent shape with the original red paint still sporting a nice even gloss. The original alloy wheels are in good shape as well and the newer tires have plenty of tread. Inside, the seats, dash, door panels, headliner and carpet look great, and are further testament to the low mileage and excellent care the car has received. On the road, the RX-7 runs great and handles and stops as a sports car should. Indeed, it must be driven to be believed as the rotary engine is super smooth right up to redline as is the automatic transmission, and the car has a light on its tires feel when running through a twisty section of blacktop.

2013 Mercedes Benz CL550 Coupe 2013 Mercedes Benz CL550 Coupe

2013 Mercedes Benz CL550 Coupe

Lot #052 (Sale Order 53 of 165)

Standing at the top of the Mercedes-Benz coupe hierarchy, the CL-Class is nothing less than the best the luxury car company can offer. Based on the company’s superb S-Class sedan platform, the CL can best be thought of as an S-Class coupe, sharing powertrains and luxury features with the four-door flagship. This 2013 CL550 4Matic has been very well cared for and has just under 32,000 miles. This sleek coupe boasts a twin-turbocharged 4.7-liter V8 that sends a muscular yet refined 429 horsepower through a silky-smooth, seven-speed automatic transmission and on to the four wheels. Both stunning performance (0-60 mph in just 4.6 seconds) and confident handling in inclement weather are here, thanks to that “4Matic” all-wheel-drive system. The CL’s sleek coupe body style is somewhat unique for modern cars in that there is no “B” pillar between the front- and rear-side windows. Power all the windows down and there’s an uninterrupted open space on both sides of the car, providing plenty of “al fresco” cruising when the mood strikes. The beautiful black paint looks fantastic, as does the quartet of AMG triple-spoke 19-inch alloy wheels. Inside, an abundance of high-quality leather and genuine wood trim, along with every power feature you can think of (including power closing assist for the long doors) let you know in no uncertain terms that this is a world-class luxury car. Cruising at high speeds is effortless and very quiet; it’s not a stretch to say traveling in the CL 550 is like being on a land-bound business jet. Although this is a 2013, you’d be hard pressed to discern it as anything other than a pampered three-year-old car; it’s overall condition is that nice it drives as nice as it looks.

1949 Mercury Eight Convertible

Lot #056 (Sale Order 56 of 165)

In 1949, Mercury released their first fully redesigned automobile since the beginning of WWII. The American public was eagerly anticipating the application of wartime technological advances in engineering and new attractive designs. Mercury did not disappoint. The redesigned Mercury Eight combined a new 255ci V8 engine with long sleek curves that took direction from America’s new fascination with streamlining and aviation, inspired by beautiful aircraft produced during the war years. This 1949 Mercury Eight convertible is a stunning example of one of America’s premier post WWII automobiles. This 1949 Mercury Eight convertible is a high quality older restoration that has been maintained to a high degree by its current owner, a respected and long time collector of high quality automobiles. Prior to current ownership, this convertible underwent a complete and thorough high quality restoration that included full mechanical rebuilds as well as body, and interior. The 255ci Mercury V8 engine was rebuilt at the time of restoration as was the transmission and rear end. The odometer was not reset at the time of restoration, however the consignor states that this convertible has been driven just over 150 miles since its restoration. Despite the low mileage, the owners of this car have made sure to run, inspect and maintain the condition of this fine automobile. Full restorations were also performed on all systems, including brakes and electrical. Throughout this Mercury, a great deal of attention was given to all areas with an attention to detail and quality. According to the consignor, this vehicle runs exceptionally well. The same attention to detail and quality was given to the restoration of the exterior and interior of this vehicle. The exterior Bermuda Cream finish has been maintained to a high degree and is complemented beautifully by the restored two-tone red and tan interior. The convertible top material was new at the time of restoration. Options on this Mercury include power windows, power seat and a power operated convertible top. Classic post war convertibles of this caliber are a rare find and this Mercury would be a welcome addition to any collector’s stable. Sold with a title.

1957 Ford Thunderbird 1957 Ford Thunderbird

1957 Ford Thunderbird

Lot #058 (Sale Order 58 of 165)

Back in 1955, the Ford Thunderbird debuted as a more luxurious, more powerful two-seat convertible alternative to Chevrolet’s Corvette (which initially was only available with a straight six coupled to an automatic). The “baby bird” ran just three years, 1955 through 1957, and with its stylish design and V8 power was the car of choice for the sports, radio and screen stars of the day. On offer here from a private estate and having just one owner for the past 20 years is a 1957 Thunderbird that was the subject of an older, high-quality restoration. Overall, the T-bird still presents very well although it has a few blemishes consistent with a classic that’s been driven and enjoyed, not just displayed. The rock-solid body was resprayed in the correct and original Raven black. A set of factory Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels, fitted with whitewall radial tires, add to the T-bird’s fantastic curb appeal. The latter is furthered accented with a new removable hardtop, complete with its iconic porthole window. It also includes a new black cloth top. Inside, the black and white upholstery looks great and the bench seat is still firm and is comfortable on long cruises. This baby bird is loaded too, with a telescopic steering wheel and full power features, including steering, brakes, windows and seat. The “Town and Country” station-seeking radio still resides in the dash, and the instruments, dash top and eye-catching “engine-turned” dash panel accent are in fine condition as well. Under the scooped hood is the original 312 cubic-inch V8 with its factory 4-barrel carburetion and factory “dress up” kit, which consists of the chrome air cleaner cover and ribbed rocker covers with the Thunderbird logo. The V8’s power runs through the original automatic transmission. Underway, the T-bird is smooth and peppy and wheeling this classic around is a breeze thanks to the power steering and brakes. Whether cruising with the top down on a balmy summer’s day or parked at a Cars and Coffee collecting compliments, this 1957 Thunderbird is ready to provide miles of smiles to its next owner.

1969 Chevrolet C10 Pickup

Lot #059 (Sale Order 59 of 165)

This fine example of a 1969 Chevrolet C10 Pickup is a collector’s dream. It features a 350 ci V8 mated to the TH-400 automatic transmission. As General Motors was building of the success of the first iteration of the C-series pickup, they introduced the redesigned version in 1967. While the second generation may have carried over certain features such as coil springs at all four corner, a crisp and cleanly-designed new body appeared. This example also comes with power steering and power brakes which add to its driving appeal.

1934 Ford Pickup

Lot #060 (Sale Order 60 of 165)

This 1934 Ford pickup is representative of a classic 1930’s pickup that has undergone an early 1950’s style customization. According to the consignor, this truck runs and drives extremely well and gets attention wherever they go. Overall the goal of this project was to retain the 1934 look of the truck while improving the performance and driving experience with a nostalgic customization. On the outside this truck is all 1934 having retained its original frame, body, and bed. The original sheet metal body is in very good condition and was repainted in a classic red with black fenders combination. All of the glass was replaced, and an electric wiper was added. Inside the cab, this truck still retains its 1934 feel. Under the hood is where this truck really shines. In keeping with the theme of a 1950’s era customization, the engine was replaced with a 1950 Mercury 110hp flathead V8 mated with 1939 Ford transmission and running gear, creating an exceptionally looking and driving classic all Ford pickup. 1935 Ford Pickup 1935 Ford Pickup

1935 Ford Pickup

Lot #063 (Sale Order 63 of 165)

Representing an era when a pickup truck was a practical, utilitarian vehicle, the 1935 Ford pickup still boasted its fair share of style. That year was notable for the company updating its pickup’s design with a look more closely resembling its passenger cars as both the grille and windshield were laid back slightly while the fenders were skirted for a more substantial and classy look. Also, the four-cylinder engine was dropped, meaning all the ’35 pickups sported Ford’s feisty flathead V8. Here we have a beautiful 1935 pickup with its all-original metal body done in a classy gray and black two-tone paint scheme accented with a red grille insert and red wire wheels. Chrome accents abound as well, with chrome wheel caps/trim rings, front bumper, headlights, taillights, horns and hood ornament further adding to the head-turning presence of this classic pickup. The bed is lined with wood stakes while underneath the frame and floors are solid. Look closely and you’ll see very good panel fits and gaps. You might also notice that turn signals have been fitted in a tasteful manner. Inside, the thickly-grained brown vinyl headliner, seating and door panels offer the right period look. These are a couple of worthwhile upgrades, including seat belts (with shoulder belts) and a couple of auxiliary gauges that allow you to keep tabs on the flathead V8. As with the exterior, the various chrome hardware is in nice shape, and the windows roll up and down easily. Flip up the hood sides and you’ll see the flathead V8 is impressively clean. And yes, it runs as good as it looks. It starts, idles and accelerates quietly and smoothly. The electrical system was upgraded to a more powerful 12-volt system. The three-speed manual shifts without a hitch and both the steering and brakes operate smoothly as well, adding to the pleasure of cruising around in this cool rig.

1940 Ford F-1 Custom 1940 Ford F-1 Custom

1940 Ford F-1 Custom

Lot #064 (Sale Order 64 of 165)

This 1940 Ford F-1 custom pickup is a fine example of a high quality custom vehicle. Described by its current owner as being in excellent condition, this represents custom upgrades for drivability and performance with maintaining that classic old Ford pickup look. The previous owner purchased the truck in 2009. At that time this truck had just received, and currently still has, a 350ci Chevrolet small block engine, automatic transmission and a Ford 8 inch rear end with 4:11 gears. The wheels are 14-inch mag wheels in the front, 15-inch in the back. After purchase in 2009, the prior owner had the frame sandblasted, painted, and rebuilt. At the same time the truck was repainted Viper Red and the bed oak wood was re-varnished. During the 2009 restoration work the prior owners also converted the electrical to 12 volt, installed a new 4bbl Edlebrock carburetor, HEI ignition and new white-faced instrument dials and gauges. A new headliner was installed, as were the door panels. New disc brakes were added in the front and rear, new gas tank, new aluminum muffler and exhaust, new springs and shocks and all new glass and rubber seals. New valve covers, “swan neck” side mirrors, and a new steering wheel finished off the 2009 restoration work. Since 2013, the current owner has added electric power steering, a floor gearshift, and a new three-row radiator with electric fan and installed new LED taillights. Accompanying this Ford custom is a July 2019 appraisal and condition assessment by an NSRA specialist who also holds multiple ASE certifications. Overall the owner describes this classically styled 1940 Ford F-1 custom pickup as being in excellent condition. Sold with a registration.

1967 Chevrolet Camaro

Lot #065 (Sale Order 65 of 165)

1967 Chevrolet Camaro with a stout 383ci engine and TH-350 automatic transmission. This car is very fun to drive with power steering, power brakes, posi rear end and plenty of power on tap. The exterior looks great (there are some blemishes here and there in the paint) with a cowl induction hood, front/rear spoilers and staggered BFG Radial T/A tires on 15 inch rally wheels. The engine runs excellent and starts right up hot or cold – the transmission shifts excellently and has a nice feel to it with an upgraded torque converter. 1986 Mack 1986 Mack

1986 Mack

Lot #066 (Sale Order 66 of 165)

This 1986 Mack RD686S is an extraordinary piece. Currently it has just over 18,000 original miles and is in exceptional original condition, inside and out. It was purchased in 1986 for the Freehold, NJ Fire Department and used to haul a large water tanker to fires when needed. In 2017 it was sold to a collector in Maine, who used very little yet kept it always stored inside and maintained. Since new, this Mack has always been kept inside, cleaned and maintained to a high degree and on inspection of the truck it shows. Under the hood this Mack is powered by a 300hp Maxidyne Diesel engine, with engine brake, and a 5 speed Mack transmission. The truck rides on rear camelback spring suspension and 11R22.5 tires all around, mounted on aluminum wheels. The cab of this truck is amazing. All of the upholstered interior panels and headliner are still in excellent condition. All of the gauges and lights work as intended. The original factory radio works, and the truck also comes with factory option air conditioning. Recently this truck was driven almost 100 miles from Old Town Maine to Owls Head by a well-known gentleman with over 60 years in the trucking industry who commented, “this may be the nicest Mack I’ve ever driven, it’s basically brand new.” A truck like this would be a perfect example for a serious collector of fine trucks for show or for putting back to work. This 1986 R Model Mack, with just over 18,000 original miles, is ready to roll. Original road tractors in this condition with such low miles are virtually impossible to find.

1969 MGB-GT

Lot #069 (Sale Order 69 of 165)

This 1969 MGB-GT has undergone a complete, no expense spared restoration by its previous owner. At the time of restoration the owner was seriously ill, all the while they still wanted to see this GT coupe restored to its full potential while they still could. The resulting restoration produced a vehicle of exceptional quality and detail, making this MGB-GT one of the finest examples to be found. Based on the goals of the prior owner, this MGB GT underwent a 100% rotisserie restoration. Every aspect of this vehicle was disassembled and restored to the way it should be. The engine, transmission, and rear end were all rebuilt, as were both the front and rear suspensions. Each and every component of the chassis and substructure of this GT was restored. The rebuilt 1798cc engine runs amazingly well and is paired to a manual transmission, with overdrive. All new disk brakes were installed and a stainless steel exhaust system was installed with chrome tips. The current owner describes this restoration as one where literally “everything was done” on this vehicle to high standard. The entire body was stripped and properly restored and finished in an attractive green color. On the interior all of the upholstery and carpeting was replaced. All new knockoff wire wheels and new tires were installed. Overall, the current owner states that everything that could possibly have been done to this vehicle was done during the restoration; resulting in one of the finest MGB-GT’s to be found. 1973 Porsche 911T

Lot #072 (Sale Order 72 of 165)

This 1973 Porsche 911T has been meticulously cared for and set up for an exceptional driving experience. The “T” does not stand for Targa, rather Touring. And while this signifies that this is the entry level 911, that doesn’t mean this car is any less a Porsche. For starters, in 1973 the larger 2.4 liter engine offered a noticeable improvement over the previous 2.2 liter engine it replaced. One of the advances to the 1973 911T was fuel injection which allowed the six-cylinder boxer engine to develop a very respectable 148 lb-ft of torque. This Porsche features a new muffler, master cylinder, plug wires and connectors and generator belt. In 2019, the engine was completely rebuilt An all new interior featuring front leather seats, dash speaker, and horn have all been installed. A 4-wheel alignment has also been performed on this vehicle. As one former owner noted, the design of this vehicle was unique nearly 50 years ago and today it still exudes plenty of style. This vehicle is being offered with a registration.

1955 Chevrolet 3100 Big Window Pickup 1955 Chevrolet 3100 Big Window Pickup

1955 Chevrolet 3100 Big Window Pickup

Lot #074 (Sale Order 74 of 165)

Absolutely gorgeous example of a first mid-year design for Chevy trucks and the one that practically started it all! Very desirable short-bed “big back-window” version that has received a full-restoration and catches all the attention wherever it goes. Extremely solid west-coast truck for majority of it’s life until it was shipped out east from Oregon in 2019. Powered by an era-correct 283-V8 engine which has been rebuilt along with the factory-style 4-spd manual transmission. Full tune-up and recent upgrades added just this year include a petronix ignition, new shocks, rebuilt carb, new alternator, brake service and new exhaust. Truck runs beautifully and is ready to enjoy. Exterior is finished in a stunning shade of Bordeaux-Red metallic that glistens in the sunlight and fits the truck perfectly. Excellent chrome bumpers, grille and trim with a beautiful dark-oak wood bed kit. Truck rides nicely on correct 15? steel wheels with Chevrolet accessory hubcaps and Coker wide-white radial tires. Interior shows just as nice with a black vinyl bench-seat, correct rubber floor mat and stock painted dash with original gauges. Cool off with the vintage accessory cabin-fan or warm up with the original working heater. Underneath is super solid (as one would expect from a western truck) and the engine bay is nicely detailed as well. These old trucks are extremely popular right now and it’s getting harder to find the good ones that haven’t been cut-up or modified. This one is all dialed in and ready for work or play!

1959 Chevrolet Apache Pickup 1959 Chevrolet Apache Pickup

1959 Chevrolet Apache Pickup

Lot #076 (Sale Order 76 of 165)

Pickup trucks have been very hot for more than a few years now in the collector/hobby car circles. Those from the ‘40s, 50s and ‘60s are especially popular with their simple yet classic styling, wood-planked beds, no-frills interiors and vibrant colors. Some of the allure may have to do with these being work vehicles that were typically driven into the ground, not a lot of them have survived. As such, seeing one at your local Cars and Coffee is a considerably rarer treat than seeing say a ’69 Camaro or ’66 Mustang. Purchased from a private estate, this 1959 Chevrolet Apache Fleetside half-ton pickup is a special truck indeed. The recipient of a high-end nut-and-bolt restoration (with less than 2,000 miles added since), this California truck still boasts nearly all its original body panels, including the front fenders, doors and bed sides as well as its floors and undercarriage. The truck has plenty of eye candy with its arrow-straight and pristine body panels, gorgeous Galway Green factory color and the “Custom” trim with its chrome bumpers and chrome-enhanced side spears. The rebuilt suspension features original-style spiral shocks. This Apache features a custom mirror mounted above the side window. The wood planks in the bed add to the old-school charm, while the 16-inch color-matched wheels with their chrome caps/trim rings are fitted with modern Michelin 235/85R16 radials to further the curbside appeal. The Apache’s underside is so clean you could eat lasagna off the floor pans. It is obvious that this classic Apache has led a pampered life since its incredible restoration. Inside the cab the Apache is just as impressive. Everywhere you look, the attention to detail is stunning. The steering wheel has been restored, as has the whole dash with its crystal-clear instrument panel, as-new controls and tastefully added N.O.S. 1950 Chevrolet dash clock that is blended into the dash top. The bench seat has been restored with soft, charcoal-colored upholstery and the painted surfaces are as beautifully finished as the rest of the truck. As no radio was ordered when this truck was new, it still has the bow-tie embossed block-off plate and plugs. Under the big hood there’s plenty of power in the form of a rebuilt 350 V8 originally rated at 350 horsepower. That potent V8 is finished in satin black and features a Carter 4-barrel carburetor as well as a massive, late 1950s-style air cleaner to preserve the period-correct look. A 4-speed manual gearbox featuring a super-low first-gear (aka “Granny gear”) sends the power to the 4.11-geared rear end. The Apache runs smooth and strong, with performance the original powerteam could only dream of. To say this beautifully restored 1959 Chevy Apache is in like-new condition is not entirely accurate; we’re pretty sure the truck wasn’t quite this nice when it rolled out of the factory.

1980 Airstream 25' Front Kitchen Caravelle

Lot #077 (Sale Order 77 of 165)

This fully restored and functional 1980 Airstream 25’ “front kitchen” Caravelle is one of the most rare and unique travel trailers to be manufactured by the Airstream Corporation and is offered for sale with No Reserve. New for the 1980 line up, the Caravelle trailer in its various lengths was designed to fit a perceived gap in their line up to meet their goal of “an Airstream for everyone.” It is estimated that only 150 Caravelles of various lengths were produced. Of that number, the 25’ “front kitchen” was by far the least produced version and was a last moment addition to the line up. Airstream production records of this period are almost non-existent. Based on estimates within the Airstream community, this 1980 25’ Airstream “front kitchen” Caravelle is one of the only two known to be in existence in the United States. Restoration work was completed in 2012 at a cost in excess of $112,000.

1946 MG TC

Lot #079 (Sale Order 79 of 165)

This 1946 MG TC, chassis # TC1570, comes from the widely recognized “Cobb Collection” and is being offered for sale at No Reserve. Dick and Dotty Cobb of Gardiner, Maine developed an enthusiastic love for the MG marque. Their love evolved into a life long passion and led to the creation of one of the finest and respected MG collections in the United States. It was their wish that their collection come to live at the Owls Head Transportation Museum for the benefit of all to enjoy. This vehicle is one of a select few that are being offered from the collection in order to help maintain the wonderful examples of MGs that will remain. Until recently, this TC has sat for an extensive period of time in storage or on static display, having not run under its own power until the early 2000’s. Owls Head volunteers undertook an analysis check over of all of the systems to return this vehicle to a running condition. After general servicing and fluid checks, this TC was found to be still in very good condition and representative of a quality, older restoration. The 4-cylinder engine is paired with a 4speed manual transmission and was found to run and shift well. The number on the engine matches the number on the vehicle data plate. Owls Head volunteers and staff have driven this vehicle on museum property as part of their sorting out and inspection process. While museum staff has done a great amount of work in resurrecting this classic MG, further attention may be needed to bring this extremely solid MG back to its full driving potential. 1959 Volkswagen 23 Window Samba Bus 1959 Volkswagen 23 Window Samba Bus

1959 Volkswagen 23 Window Samba Bus

Lot #085 (Sale Order 85 of 165)

This sensational 1959 Volkswagen 23-Window Samba Bus is a gorgeous specimen of a very collectable classic vehicle that created great memories for many people around the world. Produced from 1950 to 1967, the first generation of the Volkswagen Bus Type 2 (T1) was originally intended as a basic cargo hauler. After much success and growing demand, Wolfsburg realized the full potential of their comfortable people mover and, in 1951, began producing a model called the Deluxe. The Volkswagen Samba, in the United States marketed as the Sunroof Deluxe, was the most luxurious version of the T1. In the US, Volkswagen vans were informally identified by the window count. This particular model had 23 and later 21 windows including eight high windows in the roof. The 23 window variant also had curved windows in the rear corners. To distinguish it from the normal Volkswagen van, the name Samba was coined. The Samba had bi-parting doors in lieu of a sliding door, and could be ordered with a large fabric sunroof. Volkswagen advertised the Samba for making tourist trips through the Alps. Standard paint finishes on the Samba were two-tone, usually with the upper bodywork in white. The lower bodywork carried a contrasting color, the areas separated by a decorative strip. The roof carried slightly forward of the windshield at the front, creating an integral visor. When Volkswagen started producing the successor of the T1 (the T2) the company stopped producing the Samba and the concept of a van with such a high window count. As the chassis number indicates this vehicle was built in Germany between August 1958 and May of 1959. During its lifetime the original vehicle M-code ID plate was lost so the original build specifications are unknown. This vehicle was the beneficiary of a detailed, concours-level restoration by well-known KAO Autostyling located in Las Vegas, NV. It was restored with meticulous attention to detail inside and out using the finest quality German parts. The restoration was completed in or around 2018 and it has less than 500 miles since completion. The exterior is in beautiful condition throughout. It was finished in Mango and Pearl White which complements it well. The two-tone paint colors are separated by a molding with a red pinstripe that highlights the body. The paint has recently been detailed and shows very well. The new tan fabric sunroof is unique and fun. All of the windows have been replaced with new Safari-style glass, including the front windshields and pop-out side windows. Everything on the exterior was restored or replaced such as the wipers, dual mirrors, door handles, Wagner headlights, taillights, painted front and rear bumpers. It sits on matching 14” steel wheels with chrome hub caps and BF Goodrich Silvertown white wall radial 185-70-14 tires. The interior is also in beautiful condition throughout. The interior is very spacious, comfortable and bright with the natural light from the 23 windows. The tan upholstery including the headliner, three bench seats and panels was professionally installed. The tan authentic German square-weave carpet was also professionally installed. The overhead vent, dash and floor pans were finished in white to match the exterior. Everything in the interior was restored or replaced such as the steering wheel, speedometer, ash tray, dash hardware, door panels, door hardware, shifter, seat frames and pedals. The painted engine compartment is nicely detailed throughout with many new parts. It’s been converted to a modern 12-volt system consisting of an electronic voltage regulator and Pertronix electronic ignition system for better performance and reliability. It’s powered by an upgraded 1500cc factory engine (code HO) that was rebuilt and runs excellent. The carburetor has an electric choke for better reliability. The engine is coupled to a 4-speed manual transmission that operates smoothly. The painted undercarriage is also nicely throughout with many new parts. Everything underneath has been restored or replaced including the exhaust system, steering components, suspension system and braking system. This vehicle was recently serviced and detailed which is documented with an invoice that is included. This vehicle is offered with a title. From the MS CLASSIC CARS collection.

1967 Sunbeam Tiger Mark IA 1967 Sunbeam Tiger Mark IA

1967 Sunbeam Tiger Mark IA

Lot #086 (Sale Order 86 of 165)

This gorgeous 1967 Sunbeam Tiger Mark IA was the product of a recent show quality restoration and is equipped with LAT (Los Angeles Tiger) dealer options. The restoration was completed in 2020 and has less than 100 test miles. This is a matching numbers vehicle which is documented with a Sunbeam Tiger Owners Association Certificate of Authenticity No. 1005 that is included. The Sunbeam Tiger is a high-performance V8 version of the British Rootes Group’s Sunbeam Alpine roadster, designed in part by American car designer and racing driver Carroll Shelby and produced from 1964 until 1967 totaling 7,085 units. Shelby had carried out a similar V8 conversion on the AC Cobra and hoped to be offered the contract to produce the Tiger at his facility in the United States. Rootes decided instead to contract the assembly work to Jensen at West Bromwich in England and pay Shelby a royalty in every car produced. Production ended in 1967 soon after the Rootes Group was taken over by Chrysler which did not have a suitable engine to replace the Ford V8. Owing to the ease and affordability of modifying the Tiger, there are few remaining cars in standard form and this vehicle is one of them. A total of 2,706 MK IA’s were built between August 7th, 1965 and February 9th, 1966. This late production Mark IA was built in 1966 and sold as a 1967 model which was normal. This vehicle’s ID tag is fixed with its original rivets as the 2014 Sunbeam Tiger Owners Association Certificate Authenticity inspection documents. Most Sunbeam Tigers ID tags aren’t fixed with the original rivets like this example. This vehicle is finished in its original color code 108 which is Polar White. A limited amount of late production MK IA’s were finished in this color as it was a MK 2 color choice. This car retains original California Black Plates which are included and documented with 12 California registrations dating back to 2003 which are also included. The car was purchased as a very nice driver quality matching numbers vehicle by a gentleman named Steven Bernheim from Studio City, CA in 2015. Steven immediately connected with well-known Avik Avedisian of A and B Racing to perform a complete show quality restoration. Since this is a documented California car and carried a lot of original patina prior to the restoration it’s possible some of the LAT (Los Angeles Tiger) dealer options were installed when the car was new or early on in its life. Prior to the restoration the vehicle was a rust free and never damaged. During the restoration process the entire body was stripped to a bare metal shell and a LAT 79 Fiberglass Engine Hood was added. The original hood was refinished and included with new stand. This vehicle retains all of its original sheet metal and has very nice gap lines throughout. The car was painted in its original color of Polar White which looks beautiful. The high quality paint work was recently detailed to a show quality shine. The white paint is complemented with a new black convertible top and cover. All of the original glass is in nice condition and retains the factory stamps. Everything on the exterior has been restored or replaced such as the glass trim, wiper arms, antenna, front grille trim pieces, drivers side mirror, Lucas headlights, turn signal bezels and lenses, front bumper, door handles, Tiger body molding, gas cap, trunk hinges, tail light bezels and lenses, rear bumper and emblems. The car sports LAT 70 15x 6 ½ polished alloy wheels with spinners that have a Sunbeam Tiger center cap. The wheels are wrapped with new Michelin Defender 185-60-15 tires. The original 13” wheels are painted with custom fabricated stainless original hub caps and Milestar Touring SE 175-80-13 white wall tires which are included. The interior was refinished in its original color of black which looks amazing. The interior space is surprisingly spacious and very comfortable. Everything in the interior was restored or replaced such as the rear view mirror, black dash pad, wood dash, black Jaeger gauges, black Lucas amp gauge, black Smiths clock, dash hardware, wood steering wheel, door panels, door hardware, black bucket seats, seat belts, Bendix radio, custom O.E.M. center speaker console, carpeting, shifter with chrome bezel and leather boot. Everything in the interior is in working order such as the lights, gauges, horn, wipers, radio, heating system and clock. The trunk compartment was restored and painted body color. It’s home to the black front cover, black side panels, black trunk mat, full size spare that matches the original wheels, original jack assembly, two set of original tools with pouches and a correct style Specialty battery. The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout with many correct style parts. The entire bay was painted body color and looks stunning. Everything was restored or replaced such as the hoses, clamps, grommets, washer bottle, clutch cylinder, master cylinder, heater core, radiator, etc. Sold with title.

1937 MG SA Saloon 1937 MG SA Saloon

1937 MG SA Saloon

Lot #087 (Sale Order 87 of 165)

This 1937 MG SA Saloon, chassis # SA0720, comes from the widely recognized “Cobb Collection” and is being offered for sale at No Reserve. Dick and Dotty Cobb of Gardiner, Maine developed an enthusiastic love for the MG marque. Their love evolved into a life long passion and led to the creation of one of the finest, most respected MG collections in the United States. It was their wish that their collection come to the Owls Head Transportation Museum for the benefit of the museum and for all to enjoy. This vehicle is one of a select few that are being offered from the collection in order to help maintain the wonderful examples of MGs that will remain. Based on the Wolseley Super Six design, the SA model represented a departure for MG from their line of small sports cars for a venture into the larger luxury market to compete with the likes of Jaguar and Bentley. In all, 2,738 SA models of all types were produced. Chassis#SA0720 is confirmed to have been formerly owned by well known automobile executive Bob Lutz and was exhibited at multiple shows and concours events by the Cobb’s during the mid 1990’s to early 2000’s. With its elegant lines and design features, it is easy to understand why prior owners felt so fondly about this automobile. On the exterior this SA is painted in an attractive ivory blue two tone color combination that is accented nicely by the blue wilton wool and light tan leather interior. Natural wood finish trim outlines the interior cabin and original gold color finish gauges on the instrument panel. Other features include a Pegasus radiator ornament, dual outside horns, dual driving lamps, sunshine roof, a central lubrication system and on-board jacks. The older paint, while highly presentable on the majority of the vehicle has blistered and flaked off in some spots. Until recently, this SA has sat for an extensive period of time in storage or on static display, having not run under its own power until the early 2000’s. Owls Head volunteers undertook an analysis check over of all of the systems to return this vehicle to a running condition. Worked performed on this vehicles included inspecting the carburetors and installation of an inline fuel filter. The brake master cylinder and wheel cylinders were removed, dissembled for inspection and either rebuilt and/or cleaned and reassembled. The electrical systems and wiring are older and while functional, may need further attention in the future. A full detailed repair and inspection journal was kept by volunteers and can be made available on request. The 6-cylinder engine, #QPHG2381, is paired with a 4speed manual transmission and was found to run and shift well. The engine is a correct SA engine but is not original to the car. Owls Head staff and volunteers have driven this vehicle on museum property as part of their sorting out and inspection process. It is worth noting that this SA is an older restoration that has sat for close to 20 years in a non-running state. While museum staff have done a great amount of work in resurrecting this classic MG, further attention may be needed to bring this extremely solid 1937 SA Saloon back to its full driving potential. It was their wish that their collection come to the Owls Head Transportation Museum for the benefit of the museum and for all to enjoy. This vehicle is one of a select few that are being offered from the collection in order to help maintain the wonderful examples of MGs that will remain. During the mid 1930’s, the VA 1.5 litre was the smallest of three models produced by MG as a venture into the larger luxury market to compete with the likes of Jaguar and Bentley. The elegant Tickford drophead design by famed coach-builder Salmon&Sons was one of the most sought after VA body styles of its time and is considered by many to be one of the most highly collectable pre-WWII MG’s. Natural wood finish trim outlines the interior cabin. Until recently, this VA has sat for an extensive period of time in storage or on static display, having not run under its own power until the early 2000’s. Owls Head volunteers undertook an analysis check over of all of the systems to return this vehicle to a running condition. Worked performed on this vehicles included inspecting the carburetors and installation of an inline fuel filter. The brake master cylinder and wheel cylinders were replaced. A full detailed repair and inspection journal was kept by volunteers and can be made available on request. The 4-cylinder engine, #TPBG13483, is paired with a 4speed manual transmission and was found to run and shift well. The engine is a correct VA engine but is not original to the car. 1932 MG-F1 Magna Stiles Special Threesome 1932 MG-F1 Magna Stiles Special Threesome

1932 MG-F1 Magna Stiles Special Threesome

Lot #089 (Sale Order 89 of 165)

The 1932 MG M1 Magna Stiles Special Threesome is one of the rarest MGs. Alfa Romeo’s British concessionaire and racing team manager Frederick Stiles was responsible for the fabulous design, featuring a sleek stance with graceful curves that surround a hidden third “dickie” seat. Stiles collaborated with world-renowned coachbuilder James Young to create this automotive work of art. Of the 30 created by Stiles and Young, there are only five known survivors in the world that have the original body and chassis combination. This example is the only one of those five in North America. Given its historical documentation, authenticity and quality of restoration, this particular Stiles Special is considered by many to be the finest, most award winning, surviving example in the world. Well-regarded English anesthetist Dr. Frankis Evans, as a birthday present for his wife, originally purchased this MG in May 1932. The current owner discovered the MG in a barn over 30 years ago. This vehicle triggered a passionate endeavor of extensive research, investigation and restoration. Its discovery is included in automotive historian Tom Cotter’s book “The Cobra In The Barn”. Since that time this vehicle’s complete history has been meticulously documented from the original owner through to the present day. The depth of research and investigation completed is truly remarkable. The resulting documentation including storyboards, family history, registration transfers, original license plate, notable events in the vehicle’s life, and even black and white home movies of this vehicle in an ice race, are all included. From the beginning, the goal of the restoration project was to create a “100 point” car, worthy of any award and concourse showing. Full attention to detail was taken to ensure authenticity of the vehicle. The exterior ocean-blue metallic with beige trim color combination was verified by paint found on the body and in the Stiles Company original sales brochure. Under the bonnet the vehicle is powered by its original 6 cylinder OHC 1271cc Wolseley engine, rebuilt by Brooklands Engineering Works in Stratford, Connecticut. The interior was restored to the original brown rexine with beige carpet material. All gauges are original to the car and rebuilt with the exception of the oil pressure gauge. An original, correct Maltese Cross oil gauge was found and restored completing the instrument cluster to full originality. In short, every mechanical aspect of this vehicle was taken apart and inspected, repaired, and/or restored as needed. Every body panel, with the exception of the hood sides and rear fenders, is original to the car. The rear fenders were hand crafted from patterns from the original design. Following restoration this MG Stiles Special began its tour on the show circuit and has been invited to some of the most prestigious concours shows in America, winning numerous prizes. In 2014, the car earned the AACA’s S.F Edge Trophy, awarded to the “most outstanding restoration of a foreign vehicle” appearing in any national AACA show that year. Among many other honors, this rare car won awards at Amelia Island in 2015, and the 2015 Arizona Concours. It was awarded the 2018 Greenwich Concours “Best in class: British,” a class award at the 2017 Boston Cup, and “Best in Class” at the 2019 Ault Park Concours in Cincinnati. All awards, trophies, and display signs from these shows are included with the sale. Also included is the consignor’s “concours judging bag,” complete with a special binder of information and documentation to present to judges during inspection. This vehicle began its life as a cherished gift and has been loved by each owner ever since. Wonderfully cared for and resurrected by its current owner, now is the time to find the next steward of this extremely rare, award-winning automobile, considered by many to be the finest example of the five remaining in the world. 1914 Lea Francis

Lot #090 (Sale Order 90 of 165)

This 1914 Lea Francis motorcycle is an extremely rare, mostly original, and well cared for example of British motorcycle history that is ready to find its new caretaker. Designated as a “pioneer cycle” by the Association of Pioneer Cyclists, this 1914 Lea Francis is recognized as one of the earliest examples known to exist and is registered with the Lea Francis club of England. Of the 1,500 Lea Francis cycles produced from 1912-1924, this 1914 is one of the estimated 25 total Lea Francis cycles believed to be in existence. This motorcycle is also prominently featured in the book Classic British Bikes by Andrew Kemp and Mirco De Cet. Lea Francis were universally recognized for their innovation and build quality. Some of these innovations include early adoption of front brakes, clutch operation by both hand and foot, and fully enclosed primary and secondary chains. Described by the consignor as a mostly original motorcycle with sidecar, it is powered by its original 430cc V-Twin J.A.P side valve engine. Reportedly this Lea Francis was used for 24-hour endurance racing in England, hence the racing number plates affixed to the sidecar. Many of the array of believed to be original accessories on the motorcycle are extremely rare and nearly impossible to find. Examples of these include a dual pointer Bonniksen speedometer, a cloisonne trimmed rear view mirror, a glove holder/cosmetic case with mirror, a Chelsea clock and multiple early brass era acetylene powered headlights and tail light. Included in the sale is a full binder of historical records, manuals, Lea Francis information and the original British registration or “Buff Card” first issued in 1920. Also included in the binder are various British registration tax receipts. The current owner of this 1914 Lea Francis is a longtime collector of early vintage motorcycles and is a three time, and preparing for their fourth, participant in the famous “Cannonball Run” long distance vintage motorcycle competition. According to the consignor, this Lea Francis is an exceptional piece that runs and operates extremely well and has been meticulously cared for. When not in use, the owner property services the cycle and drains all of the fuel, until it needs to be readied for its next use. Fuel, overall systems check, and oiling for use are all that would be required to run. It has been this consistent care that has maintained its runnability and overall condition. In 2019, this cycle was driven onto the field and won a “Best of Class” award at the Greenwich Concours d’Elegance. Sold with on Bill of Sale.

Lot #094 (Sale Order 95 of 165)

Offered for sale with No Reserve is this 1964 Mercedes-Benz 230SL roadster. This roadster has been well cared for its entire life and is coming to the auction from the estate of a long time collector. Original documentation included with the sale provides a detailed explanation of the early history of this vehicle. According to the documentation, the original owner of this vehicle was a United States Citizen who was working in Italy on assignment for the Westinghouse Electric Company. In September of 1964, a letter was written to Mercedes expressing a desire to purchase a 230SL and ship it back to the U.S. on their return in November of that same year. Multiple letters and communications between Mercedes and the original owner document the ordering, pickup, and exportation process of this beautiful 230SL. Based on the paperwork, this 230SL was in the possession of its original owner until 1992. Detailed records from the original owner show mileage readings for each year from 1965 to 1992 and also list what service was performed and at what mileage. Multiple letters between the original owner and Mercedes during their ownership suggest that this Mercedes was always maintained to a high standard. Currently the odometer reads 80,900 miles and is believe to be originals. The final odometer reading by the original owner in 1992 was just over 71,000miles. A November 1993 appraisal indicated that this vehicle underwent a full restoration. The appraisal states that the restorer had “completely gone through the car and done extensive and thorough restoration wherever needed to body, paint, upholstery, suspension, and mechanical. A matching red hard top, with stand, is included in the sale. Little information is provided from the estate of the current owner regarding this vehicle, however based on the condition of the vehicle it is evident that this car has been well maintained to current day. Well cared for 230SL roadsters with in this condition and historical documentation are not easily found and would be a welcome addition to any collectors lineup. Sold with a registration.

1952 MG TD 1952 MG TD

1952 MG TD

Lot #107 (Sale Order 109 of 165)

This 1952 MG TD, chassis # TD19133, comes from the widely recognized “Cobb Collection” and is being offered for sale at No Reserve. Until recently, this TD has sat for an extensive period of time in storage or on static display, having not run under its own power since the early 2000’s. Owls Head volunteers undertook an analysis check over of all of the systems to return this vehicle to a running condition. Services performed on this vehicle-included ignition tune up and fuel system and carburetor cleaning. A new old stock master cylinder, new brake shoes and wheel cylinders were installed. Contact OHTM for a complete list of services performed on the vehicle. The 4-cylinder engine is paired with a 4speed manual transmission and was found to run and shift well. The number on the engine does not match the number on the vehicle data plate. Owls Head volunteers and staff have driven this vehicle on museum property as part of their sorting out and inspection process. While museum staff has done a great amount of work in resurrecting this classic MG, further attention may be needed to bring this extremely solid MG back to its full driving potential. 1933 Ford Deluxe Wagon 1933 Ford Deluxe Wagon

1933 Ford Deluxe Wagon

Lot #109 (Sale Order 111 of 165)

This 1933 Ford Deluxe Wagon is a wonderful example of a rare, classic Early Ford V8 “Woodie.” In 1933, only 1,654 of the vehicles produced by Ford that year were wagons. Before coming into the possession of its current caretaker, this wagon underwent a complete and thorough restoration by its previous owner whose story with this vehicle began over 50 years ago. Much more than just a vehicle, this wagon was a decades long passion that resulted in an exceptionally restored classic wagon. Its story was featured in the August 2012 edition of Oldcarsweekly.com. (Click here) The previous owner, a former Maine State Trooper, saw this wagon on the side of the road in Edgecomb, Maine while on patrol in 1966. Still in uniform, he walked up to the house and inquired about the Ford. After agreeing to a price of $295, the Trooper soon returned when off duty and drove the wagon home. Not much of the history was known of the wagon at the time of purchase other than that it was believed to have been used as a school bus for a private school in Rhode Island for many years prior to coming to Maine at some point in the 1940’s. After a few minor repairs, it was used for a few years as it was found until being put away in a barn until 1995. After his retirement from the Maine State Police, the previous owner dedicated himself to the completion of this wagon to the level of quality that he felt it deserved. Countless hours were spent on repairing and restoring every aspect of this beautiful wagon. A local boat yard was contracted to perform all necessary repairs on the wooden body and students at Southern Maine Vocational College performed a full rebuild on the engine and transmission as part of their coursework. Other aspects of the restoration included new suspension parts, brakes, gas tank, bodywork, and upholstery. Wanting to be as authentic as possible, the restoration focused on utilizing proper colors on the bodywork and upholstery to match what would have been offered in 1933. Powered by a 221ci Ford V8 engine with a three-speed transmission, this Ford wagon runs and drives exceptionally well. After being on display for several years at the Boothbay Railway Village Museum, the prior owner felt it was time to find his beloved wagon a new caretaker. The current owner has maintained and cared for this vehicle to the high degree of care, which a vehicle like this deserves. Opportunities to find a classic early Ford V8 wagon in this condition are rare and this vehicle would be a welcome addition to any serious collector. Sold with a registration

1941 Harley Davidson Servicar

Lot #110 (Sale Order 112 of 165)

Designed by Harley Davidson in the early 1930’s, the servi-car was an attempt to increase Harley-Davidson’s sales and create more uses for their products. Servi-cars were often used by automotive dealerships and shops to provide quick mobile service to individuals when needed. The rear compartment allowed for caring tools and equipment while also providing space to give a stranded motorist a ride. This Servi-car was restored by Steve McPhillips in NY in the late 1980’s. He was considered by many at the time to be the “go to” guy for Harley engines and restoration. The current owner purchased the vehicles over ten years ago and has kept it in a well maintained running condition. Often taking it for small rides and showing it at numerous events. It is powered by a matching number 45ci engine, both halves of the engine casting numbers match. It features a 3 speed transmission, reverse, and starts and runs extremely well. 1914 Ford Model T Express 1914 Ford Model T Express

1914 Ford Model T Express

Lot #113 (Sale Order 115 of 165)

Starting in 2019, volunteers at the Owls Head Transportation Museum began work creating this 1914 Style Ford Model T Express and it is being offered for sale with No Reserve. Over the course of almost two years, volunteers worked together with Museum staff to build a well-crafted vehicle. This project, the third one of its type since 2014, created numerous learning opportunities and a great sense of camaraderie for the workshop volunteers. This high quality built up Model T began its life as a collection of both spare and donated parts to the Owls Head Transportation Museum. A usable frame was obtained and every component was stripped down, primed and repainted. Every aspect of the chassis was completely rebuilt with the exception of the engine. The engine, an older rebuilt 1923 engine, was provided from a donor vehicle and is in extremely good condition that has been road tested. All of the tires, tubes, and rim flaps are new. Mounted on the chassis is a wooden express body that was Modeled after a vehicle designed and built by ground vehicle conservator Warren Kincaid in the early 1980’s. Every aspect of this body was built and finished at the Owls Head Transportation Museum’s woodshop by volunteers. Choice grade oak was used for the construction of the body. In the rear, the bedsides are grade A plywood. The front fenders and running boards are very good original pieces, while the rear fenders and splash aprons are correct reproductions. Longtime museum volunteer and well known auto restorer George Sprowl painted the black body pieces. Most hardware and all of the body basketry was made in house. The top material and upholstery are new. Overall, this Ford is an excellent example of a built up reliable Model T. A great deal of time, dedication, and passion went into its construction and is evidence of the positive difference volunteers made at the Owls Head Transportation Museum. Sold with a registration. NOTE: Registered as a 1914, engine# is 1923.

1925 Rickenbacker

Lot #115 (Sale Order 118 of 165)

Offered for sale at No Reserve, is this 1925 Rickenbacker Brougham Sedan. A well restored vehicle, this car is as much an example of American history as it is automotive history. In the post World War I era, perhaps no American was as recognizable as the famed fighter ace Eddie Rickenbacker. Looking to capitalize on his post war notoriety and the growing automotive craze, Rickenbacker established his own automotive company in 1921, using the famous top hat inside a ring emblem from his fighter squadron, the 94th Aero Squadron. According to a previous appraisal, this vehicle is extremely rare and 1 of 61 known to exist. This vehicle was purchased by the current owner in 2004. At the time of purchase, the vehicle had 1937 plates and the odometer read 29,003. A total frame off restoration was performed by well respected classic car restorer Ken Clark of Pittsfield, Maine. The restoration was completed in 2007 and the current mileage is just over 30,000 miles, indicating that this Rickenbacker has been well maintained, and driven little since its restoration. According to the consignor the seat cushions are original and still in very good condition. For the last two years, this vehicle has been on display at the Larz Anderson Museum. 1914 Oldmobile Model 42 1914 Oldmobile Model 42

1914 Oldmobile Model 42

Lot #120 (Sale Order 123 of 165)

1914 was the first year of the Model 42 or “Baby Olds”, a move by Oldsmobile back into the lighter car market. Only 400 Model 42s were built in 1914 and serial # 84015 is the 15th vehicle to be produced in that line. The engine number, 723712 corresponds to the early production. All the Model 42 Oldsmobiles were this 5-passenger Touring style. The engine is a 192 cubic inch overhead valve four-cylinder. Oldsmobile rated it at both 20 or 30 hp depending on the source. This engine is fitted with the original Marvel Model “E” carburetor. The gear box is a 3-speed transmission and the car has a 112” wheelbase. Electric starter and lights are original fitment. Mechanical brakes on the rear wheels. Overall this is a well maintained older restoration. This car has been in the collector car community for more than 60 years. It spent a number of years displayed in the Don Bolton collection in Oklahoma although it actually belonged to a close friend who reportedly toured the car quite a bit in the western U.S. The paint finish shows reasonably well; there are some nicks and chips along with some touch-up. Upholstery is an older job in the original pattern, done in vinyl. It shows minor wear. The dash instruments are working, other than the clock, which I have never tried. The clock key is in the glove box. The dash itself is a very nice walnut with dual glove boxes. Nickel plating is very good. Recent work includes: Dropped oil pan and cleaned, Cleaned and adjusted the oil pump and air pump for fuel tank pressure. Lubrication of the chassis. New battery. Clean and adjusted carburetor. Removed the fuel tank, cleaned, sealed and refinished the outside of the tank. Sold with a clean Oklahoma title assigned to the selling Maine Dealer.

1937 Ford 74

Lot #121 (Sale Order 124 of 165)

This 1937 Ford 74, two door, slant back sedan is an extremely rare vehicle both for its engine combination, originality, and condition. To date, this vehicle has just over 10,000 original miles and it has been meticulously cared for its entire life. Under the hood, this Ford is powered by the lower priced, 60 hp engine that was available at the time. Most buyers chose the larger engines, and the majority of these 60 hp models never survived to today due to their lower production and intense use over their lifetime. The 60hp sedan, as a result, is one of the hardest vehicles to find by collectors of Early Ford V8’s. Mechanically this vehicle is extremely sound, despite only having 10,000 original miles, the owner decided to have the original engine properly rebuilt. Well known machinist and engine builder, the late John Schramm, performed the engine rebuild and the result was a smooth running Ford V8 that is deserving of being in a 10,000 mile original car. The interior mohair upholstery is in very good condition, and this vehicle runs, drives, and rides like a dream. Serious collectors of original cars should take note. Sold with a registration.

1938 MG VA Drophead

Lot #143 (Sale Order 147 of 165)

This 1938 MG VA Tickford drophead, comes from the widely recognized “Cobb Collection” and is being offered for sale at No Reserve. Of the 2,407 VA models manufactured prior to WWII, only 564 were Tickford’s in the drophead style OHTM volunteers have run it and the brakes work, engine sounds good and gets good oil pressure. We have driven the car to make sure it is a good potential project car.

1973 Mercedes Benz 450SE 1973 Mercedes Benz 450SE

1973 Mercedes Benz 450SE

Lot #161 (Sale Order 161 of 165)

This fine example of German engineering needs to be seen in person. This is the first big-bodied Benz to formally receive the S-Class name, in 1972, and demonstrated Mercedes-Benz’ innovation on a global scale. It helped pioneer technologies like electronic anti-lock brakes and a reinforced passenger cell with impact-absorbing crumple zones. From an engineering and design standpoint, the W116’s refinement and avant-garde style set standards that we take for granted in modern cars. During their heyday, W116s were some of the most dependable cars in an era when reliability was a hit or miss for many other automakers. They were also designed for easy servicing. Wrenching on and tackling one as a restoration project isn’t any more difficult than other cars of equal vintage. This is the first 450SE to be sold in New England and has been a one owner vehicle. The vehicle is being offered with a registration.
