Lot #05 (Sale Order 5 of 70)

**Please note: This motorcycle will not be onsite in Pebble Beach due to an International shipping delay. Bidding will continue and if sold the motorcycle will arrive in the United States approximately September 1st. ** This bike has been built to Lightning specs using only the best original parts and new parts where necessary. The engine is fitted with GP1 racing carbs and a racing Lucas magneto with competition Lucas HT leads. Speedometer and rev counter are the large Smiths Lightning/Shadow clocks. 1978 Harley Davidson XLCR 1000 Racer

Lot #08 (Sale Order 8 of 70)

This is an excellent example of a rare bike designed by Willie Davidson. It was to compete in the newly created Café Racer Class, very successful already for Japanese and European manufacturers. It is sleek, appears fast and sinister, black on black. With its signature Siamese exhaust system, it performed well, with sub-13 second quarter mile times. Unfortunately it did not sell well and was discontinued after only one and one-half production years. Seller restored in 1992, repainting the frame and rebuilding the upper end of the engine. It runs and looks great. Included in the sale are the original factory service and shop manuals. In addition the seller has numerous spares, including a fuel tank and fender. Second owner since 1982 and has a bit over 14,000 miles on the odometer. It continues to draw a crowd wherever it goes. Please note: Missing portion of rear chain guard; Solenoid rubber cap needs minor repair - original part in spare parts box provided by owner, battery tie-down broken off, needs repair - also included in spare parts box; divots in front spokes due to loose brake caliper bolt; missing right rear view mirror; few dents in exhaust pipes. 1969 Norton P11

Lot #11 (Sale Order 10 of 70)

Instant Buy: $11,500 This late production model Norton P11 was built October/November 1968 but it is titled as a 1969 in California. This is a great running, very complete example of a late production P11. It appears to be a P11A but it is a Ranger 750 by serial number. This was the last variant in the P11 series that ceased production in November 1968. For every 22 Commando's there is only one P11, so they are actually very scarce, particularly in this condition. These P11s are now known as hybrids as they were made during AMC ownership of Norton and utilized the light weight racing frame of the Matchless G85CS, made of 531 Reynolds tubing (chromoly) and the mighty Atlas 750 engine and transmission. 1953 Indian Chief Roadmaster 1953 Indian Chief Roadmaster

1953 Indian Chief Roadmaster

Lot #16 (Sale Order 14 of 70)

Instant Buy: $40,000. Seller purchased in 1988 from an elderly gentleman in Ludlow, MA, near Springfield, home of the Indian Motorcycle Co. factory from 1901 until 1953. One of 300 Chiefs built the year they went out of business in May. This motorcycle shows signs of that “end.” When the company was failing, they would build bikes out of whatever parts they could find on the shelf as new manufacturing had all but stopped. Hence the dealer catalogs would show an Amal carburetor and handlebars just like those found on British bikes (with the choke “wheel” mounted on the bar), but not all bikes were made as such. Earlier Indians had larger differently shaped bars and Linkert carburetors. This bike has the latter with a “352” code on the carburetor meaning 3 for Chief and 52 for 1952. This was standard and correct for this bike. Another interesting feature is the small cutout on the lower left side of the rear fender. This shows that the motorcycle was used by a police department for the siren “rub wheel” would be pulled up to contact the rotating rear wheel and actuate the siren! If you are old enough, you may have had exactly the same kind of siren on your bicycle… This motorcycle was completely restored in 1989 and was entirely apart down to the frame on a milk box in the living room. Painted parts were sent out for paint and the engine went to Randy Zorn of Island Restorations in Long Island, NY. All other parts were rebuilt, rechromed, or replaced with original NOS parts, very good used or reproductions (such as tires, tubes, spokes, bearings, etc). Seller has pictures of himself on this bike in 1988 when bought with a funky paint job from an ad in New England’s Motorcyclist Post. Sold on a Bill of Sale/Alabama Registration. Fr#/Eng#CS61014

Lot #21 (Sale Order 18 of 70)

Instant Buy: $8,000 Sunbeam motorcycles, during the period 1910-1937, were made by John Marston and Company of Wolverhampton, England, famous for their superb bicycles and immaculate and hard wearing paint finishes. This 1936 250 has been imported as a 1935. The motorcycle has the sporting 250 long stroke engine and then new Burman 4 speed gearbox and clutch which was a great advance on earlier gearboxes. 1961 Triumph Bonneville T120R 1961 Triumph Bonneville T120R

1961 Triumph Bonneville T120R

Lot #27 (Sale Order 23 of 70)

Instant Buy: $17,500. In 1956, Texan Johnny Allen built a fiberglass cigar around a 650cc T110 ‘Tiger’, and flew through the timing lights at Bonneville at 214 mph, claiming the World Motorcycle Speed record. His streamliner subsequently made a victory tour of Triumph dealers around the world, while Edward Turner, the legendarily egotistical boss of Triumph, snatched the ‘Bonneville’ name for his newest model for 1959, the T120. Essentially a dual-carb version of the old T110, the ‘Bonnie’ had a host of other go-faster improvements, including the hot E3134 camshaft, and a stronger clutch to handle the power. The machine lived up to is ‘120’ designation, according to road tests of the day, and the legend of the model was established. With a winning combination of styling flair (courtesy the pencil of Mr. Turner himself), a reasonable price, and high performance, the Bonneville became a best seller and remains so to this day. This 1961 T120R is among the last of the pre-unit construction Bonnies, which are considered the most collectible of all variants in the long production life of the model. It is certainly among the prettiest of the line as well, with its silver and sky-blue paint and ‘mouth organ’ tank badge. Beautifully executed renovation of this hallmark year model. A specialized design to meet the wishes of the all important U.S. market. 1961 was the year the Bonneville took off. Own a Jim Hiddleston meticulous restoration. Sold on a Bill of Sale/Import Papers. This is the first year of the model EL which Harley Davidson produced from 1936-1947. This is the last motorcycle that was restored by the late Johnny Burgin, owner of Vintage Motorcycles Northwest. Finished at the end of 2004 over a 14 month period, it is one of the finest examples of the 1936 model EL in existence today. There were many Harley Davidson factory changes the “Knucklehead” underwent in 1936. This motorcycle was accurately restored to the version that debuted in the first half of 1936. It features many of the original factory options that were available at the time and the sidecar is 1936 matched and in perfect condition. Included with the sale is the original Harley Davidson accessories price catalog. Eng#36EL2278

1948 Harley Davidson UL

Lot #42 (Sale Order 36 of 70)

**Please note: This motorcycle will not be onsite in Pebble Beach due to a shipping delay. Bidding will continue as usual.** In 1948 Harley Davidson was busy launching their now "famous" Panhead models, the F, FL, and FLH. There is not a lot of information about the 1948 U-series ("Big Fatty"). The Harley Davidson factory had anticipated producing 970 units in 1948. The actual number is unknown. The majority of these motorcycles were exported to South America with a few staying in North America for the sole purpose of fulfilling long standing police and government contracts that clearly specified the procurement of U, UL, or ULH models. A 1937 model EL (Knucklehead) was originally traded for this rare 1948 UL model motorcycle. It was restored by J.C. Burgin in 1995. This motorcycle is an exceptionally accurate restoration and is extremely rare. Eng# 48U2519

1967 Triumph Bonneville T120R 1967 Triumph Bonneville T120R

1967 Triumph Bonneville T120R

Lot #49 (Sale Order 42 of 70)

Instant Buy: $15,000. Essentially a dual-carb version of the old T110, the ‘Bonnie’ had a host of other go-faster improvements, including notably with the change to a power plant incorporating the gearbox and primary drive into a clean and streamlined unit. The chassis underwent big changes as well, with a duplex cradle frame giving better support to the swingarm pivot area, making the handling a little more secure. Brake sizes increased, and the styling evolved into a more compact and streamlined package, which we now think of as the ultimate Classic Bonneville. American market T120s gained the ‘R’ suffix to denote the changes which management felt were needed abroad, which included the TR6 wheel sizes and higher-rise handlebars. All Bonnevilles have terrific performance for their day, and can be relied on for a fun and secure ride, with the added benefit of being a beautiful and highly desired machine. To quote Jomo in 1967, "Here is the fastest standard motorcycle in the world today. Strictly for the expert rider." An opportunity to acquire a fast appreciating classic you can actually ride. Instant Buy: $160,000 There are three things America has given to the world, Freedom, Rock and Roll, and Harley Davidson. What else do you need! Be an owner of one of the earliest Harley Davidson's in the world. This is a true investment of Americana. This is 1 of 8 that were ever made. 1950 BSA D1 Competition

Lot #59 (Sale Order 52 of 70)

Instant Buy: $8,500. This is a one hundred percent meticulous, concours restoration by George Lanyon, a noted Midwest racer on the BSA marque. Included receipts document the restoration. George raced Class C, dirt, TT, road race, and GP from 1955 to 1960 in Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin and Illinois. The seller, in a conversation with George, is amazed at his memories of the other racers and the historic racing history he was a part of. His recollection of the legendary dirt track “mile” is fascinating…the speed, the dust, the final slide. George‘s first motorcycle was a 1949 BSA Bantam D1 (competition model). He found and nostalgically restored this machine in the early 2000’s making many trips over a period of five years to England for NOS parts. A true gentleman and historian of the British/US racing era, he is now 76 years young and living in central California. This machine may well be the most authentic and original D1 in the world. A must for any British collection or add fluids and you are ready to go. No disappointments. Title Guaranteed. Fr#YD127299 Eng#27298YD

1942 Indian Sport Scout

Lot #63 (Sale Order 56 of 70)

This 1941 Sport Scout is titled as a 1942 in California and has an unusual history. After being sold in 1942 to go to China, it was crated and shipped to the dock in San Francisco, but never left. The motorcycle drifted around until 1952 when a local resident bid on the unopened crate at an auction. The seller bought the Sport Scout from him, still virtually unused in 1973. It was a first place show winner at the National Antique Motorcycle Club show in Los Angeles, California during the 1970s. The Sport Scout was a favorite of the deceased owner who was an Indian restorer and also a factory racer for the Indian company for seven years between 1933 and 1940 and holds the flat track speed record at Springfield, Illinois where he averaged more than 95 miles an hour for 150 miles. Lot #64 (Sale Order 57 of 70)

Instant Buy: $58,000. Restored in the mid 1980s this Rapide won 1st Prize Concours award at the Royal Welsh Show in 1985. It spent 16 years on display at the recently closed Porthmadoc Museum in North Wales. Vincent Owner's Club records indicate this machine's frame was originally part of a Rapide registered as 'SMM 25', which was delivered to Messrs Humphreys in London in October 1950, while the engine 'F10AB/1/1778' was part of the Rapide that went to Messrs Avery in Oxford, leaving the factory in February 1949. These facts make this a 1950 Vincent Rapide with 1949 HRD Rapide motor. The frame number is RC7024 with the engine number being F10AB/1/1778. This Rapide has a fresh tune up and fluid change. It has a new front fender assembly and a Lucas generator with solid state regulator. New Amal 928 concentric carbs, wiring harness, cables, brake shoes, and muffler. 2010 Confederate P120 Fighter Combat Serial #01 Pre-Production Model 2010 Confederate P120 Fighter Combat Serial #01 Pre-Production Model

2010 Confederate P120 Fighter Combat Serial #01 Pre-Production Model

Lot #70 (Sale Order 62 of 70)

From Confederate Motors, the American motorcycle company leading the world in cutting-edge design comes the new Fighter Combat. Being unveiled for the first time to the press and public this very weekend at the Quail Motorsports Gathering (on Friday, August 14th) during the 2009 Pebble Beach Car Week, the Fighter Combat is the newest edition to Confederate’s stunning line-up of hand-built motorcycles. As with previous Confederate models, the Hellcat and Wraith, the new Fighter is sure to cause a sensation. Incorporating a massive 120ci motor (1966cc) into a lightweight aluminum frame, producing an astounding 145 ft/lbs of torque and 160 rear wheel horsepower, the agile and powerful machine also takes Confederate’s hallmark design to new heights, resulting in a creation that can only be described as breathtaking. This specific motorcycle, “Arabic 01”, is the only pre-production P120 Combat edition Fighter in existence and will be campaigned as a works machine for a world speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats between August 30th and September 6th in the 2009 BUB Speed Trials, class APF 2000. Only 25 (“Arabic 01-25”) P120 Combat edition Fighters will be built and delivered to their respective owners beginning November 30th at the pace of two per month, at which point the book will be closed forever. The successful bidder of the "Arabic #01" will take delivery of the motorcycle from Confederate Motors, Inc. after the Bonneville run. His or her name will be included in the record books as owner of the bike should a victory be attained. The owner's name or his/her company's logo may be displayed on the motorcycle (at least 18" on both sides) if so desired. Please note: the images pictured are renderings. The actual motorcycle will be on display – after its unveiling Friday, August 14th – at the MidAmerica auction tent at Pebble Beach on Saturday the 15th and Sunday the 16th. Sold with a Bill of Sale.
