Sale Highlight - Pictured! One of the largest and finest Hopewell shovel Pendant ever recovered. Measuring 7 3/16" tall by 2 3/4" wide, this incredible relic was found in the 1970s by the late Jay Sparks, 1 mile west of Radnor Ohio in Thompson Township, Delaware Co.,. There is no damage to this item, excellent mineral deposits on surface and engravings on one side. Mr. Sparks was hunting a bulldozed fence row between two fields with his friend Roy Plymale when they found it. As Mr. Sparks has passed, I met and interviewed his friend Mr. Plymale who was there when it was found for confirmation of provenance. A video was taken of our conversation, in which Mr. Plymale verifies this is the same artifact, and he provided details of how, where and when it was found. This Pendant is pictured on the front cover of the Ohio Archaeologist magazine, volume 71, No.2, Spring 2021 with an associated article and photos on page 36-37. The highlight of the frame are two pieces of circa 1600s Spanish trade gold items. One is a glass bead with gold foil, the other is a small hammered gold disc. all in all, a beautiful frame of Florida prehistoric and contact period artifacts. all found at the Lone Pine mound, Ruskin Florida.
