Hamilton Boys' Rifle, Model 7 (First Model)

Lot #53 (Sale Order 53 of 255)

Serial Number: NSN Design: Hamilton's first attempt at a .22 rifle made from 1899 to 1901. The Model 7 is quite scarce today; it is estimated that fewer than 45 presently exist. Overall length: 31 1/2". Barrel length: 8". Only Hamilton with all steel construction. As with all Hamiltons, most were put into the hands of youths to be beaten, broken and finally abandoned decades ago. Rifle is functional. Caliber .22 short. Material/Finish: All steel construction. Nickel plated. Provenance: This is part of the Hamilton Boys' Rifle grouping of antiquarian and arms collector J. W. Heckert, featured in the August 2016 [Vol. 38, No. 4] edition of "Man at Arms", the NRA Journal for the American Arms Collector [back issues available from the publisher]. These rifles were manufactured from 1897 to 1945 by the Hamilton Rifle Co. of Plymouth, Michigan. We believe this to be the only offering of a complete array of Hamilton models available worldwide. Condition: Very good. Inventory No./Category: 5744-001/C&R Estimate: $500-$700 IMPORTANT: Before bidding, please read the terms and conditions. Hamilton Boys' Rifle, Model 35 (Military Model) Hamilton Boys' Rifle, Model 35 (Military Model)

Hamilton Boys' Rifle, Model 35 (Military Model)

Lot #64 (Sale Order 64 of 255)

Serial Number: NSN Design: The Hamilton Model 35 has an action that is generally similar to the Model 31. This model was referred to as the "military model" and featured an extended wooden forearm with the wood reaching out to about 2 1/2" from the muzzle. Tiny sling swivels and a front barrel band add to the military appearance. This model was built circa 1915-1918 and fewer than 12,000 units were manufactured making this model one of the rarest today. This has a replacement nut and bolt holding the front and rear sections together, probably applied by the boy who owned it years ago. This rifle was sold with an accompanying steel bayonet (not included) which turned out to be a bad idea for a youth rifle; most of the bayonets were confiscated by the mothers of America and summarily destroyed.
