19th Century French Louis Wood and Gold Gilt Bronze Bureau Plat Writing Desk

Lot #1 (Sale Order 2 of 56)

Beautiful gold gilt inlay above red and black accents. The leather top writing surface banded by gilt bronze borders. Three shaped drawers. Raised on cabriole legs headed by acanthus cast mounts and foliate motifs matching the feet sabots. The oak carcase veneered panels. This bureau does show some damage in the inlay on the center drawer, a few scuffs in the leather top and few minor bubbles in veneer finish. Measures 62" in length, 32" deep and 32.5" tall.

17th century Flemish framed oil on canvas painting that is titled Portrait of Infanta Dona Maria, Queen of Hungary, depicting a richly dressed woman and is attributed to Frans Pourbus (1569-1722). This appears to be original, however it has not been authenticated. Does have puncture in the canvas that may be repaired by a professional - see pictures. With gold gilt frame the measurement is 53" tall, and 46" wide.
