Neely who enlisted on August 8, 1862 at 22 years of age at Alaiedon, Michigan as a Private. On 8/15/1862 he mustered into "A" Co. MI 20th Infantry. He was discharged for wounds on April 3, 1865 at Detroit, Michigan. Battles he was present at include 2nd Bull Run, Blue Springs, TN; Campbells Station, TN; Fort Sanders, TN and Spotsylvania Court House, VA (where he is listed as wounded on May 12, 1864). Included with the lot is his original G.A.R. cap, his billfold with some paper documents, (XXX Souvenier medal), (2) Reunion medals, a G.A.R collar pin, Mich. 20th Infantry Reunion Ribbons for 1886 (21st), 1887 (22nd), 1890 (25th), 1891 (26th), 1902 (37th) plus (3) other related ribbons. Other items include a photograph of Neely and other ephemera. Research is included. Please inspect photos.
