Rare! 5 7/8" tall by 6 1/4" wide nicely decorated pottery vessel found protruding from a Creek bank near the town of Watson in Lewis County New York along the Black River. Found in the early 1940s by a member of the Wilder family. Has a few stress cracks but still a very rare piece of solid pottery from upstate New York. There are still remains of dried moss/algae around the neck and rim area. This vessel is known as a Genoa Frilled, cord marked vessel. Early Iroquois, Circa 1600-1625. These vessels are associated with the Wenro Iroquois group of Western New York.
