Lot 202- 1958 Nelco Solo Car 3528

Lot #202 (Sale Order 5 of 101)

Post-World War II, the British Ministry of Health saw a need for independent transportation for those with loss of mobility, especially those wounded in the war. Beginning in 1948, Englands National Health Services contracted with several companies to provide so-called invalid carriages for those in need. These road-going vehicles were often tricycles with all controls operated by handboth motorized and non-motorized versions were available. The vehicles were maintained by the Ministry of Health and were issued at hospitals that supplied artificial limbs. For road use they were classified as a prosthetic mobility appliance instead of a traditional car or motorcycle and therefore did not require a motoring license for the operator to operate. As a result of the success of the program, the Invalid Trike Association (ITA) was created in 1948 with the mission providing support for users of the carriages through rallies, travel help and an association magazine. During WWII, electrical engineering firm Nelco, Ltd. supplied electric motors to the Britians Royal Navy, began production of the Auto-Electric Carriage, which was renamed the Solocar in 1947. The more powerful Solocar stood out from and included a deep trunk (boot) plus a tonneau cover to help keep operators dry in inclement weather. The battery power is housed under the seat. The front round badge on the front is the remaining base of the Road ax Disc holder- issued each year in UK to operate on the road. We do not have the UK registration with this Solocar. Featuring a steering tiller with integrated acceleration control and hand-activated brakes, the Solocar is powered by a 5/8 horsepower electric motor and was capable of 20 mph and operate for 35 miles on a charge. A few Solocars were included in the National Health Services program, but most were purchased and owned privately. Of the less than 500 invalid carriages manufactured by Nelco, only less than 50 are estimated to exist today by collectors world-wide, and just a handful those are known exist now reside in the USA. This Nelco Solocar is in excellent cosmetic condition. The body and frame are solid with no rust found. The power, brake controls and motor works and included is the matching tonneau cover. The 2 rear tires have been recently replaced with vintage but unused (NOS) pair. The Nelco has been a part of a large private collection of vehicles, and for the past 10 years, has been cared for regularly on public display in a clean, heated building.

Lot 203- 1967 BSA B44 Motorcycle

Lot #203 (Sale Order 6 of 101)

BSA motorcycles were made by the Birmingham Small Arms Company Limited (BSA), which was a major British industrial combine, a group of businesses manufacturing military and sporting firearms; bicycles; motorcycles; cars; buses and bodies; steel; iron castings; hand, power, and machine tools; coal cleaning and handling plants; sintered metals; and hard chrome process. BSA Purchased Triumph in 1957 and a subsequent government-organized rescue in 1973 led to the takeover of BSA-Triumph motorcycle operations by Norton-Villiers, later known as Norton Villiers Triumph. At its peak, BSA (including Triumph) was the largest motorcycle producer in the world.

Lot 224- 1988 Century Arabian Boat Lot 224- 1988 Century Arabian Boat

Lot 224- 1988 Century Arabian Boat

Lot #224 (Sale Order 26 of 101)

I bought this 1988 Century Arabian from the original and only owner this spring. The boat had been used seldom in the past 3 years and needed a cleaning, some repair to the rear seat framing, and a new sterndrive. I purchased and installed a brand new sterndrive from Crowley Marine (3099.00+S&H) and installed it and finished up the rest. I followed the 10 hour break in procedure for the new drive exactly and the boat performed great. I bought a new OEM cover from A&A Marine in Manistee MI (850.00), a new full engine freshwater cooling system from Orca Marine in Bellingham ($2100.00+S&H) and new exhaust manifolds and risers ($650.00). These are still on the original unopened box and are included in the sale. On the 4th of July we left the boat moored at a dock in Long Lake and a leaking hose caused the boat to sink, stern first is shallow water. The water reached the drivers seat bottom and the engine was under water, the dash and forward was not. I had the boat home by 11am, pulled the spark plugs, pumped the crankcase, pulled and cleaned the carb, added oil with seafoam and started it up. By 11 pm I had made the 4th oil change and there was no water in the oil. The engine still will run but I cannot stand by it and it will need a long block. I pulled the sterndrive and inspected it for water intrusion and it was not compromised. The boat was dried and upholstery was taken apart, dried and put back as needed.

They are nimble and powerful and all the rage in the tropics and warm climates. You will find them on super yachts on the Amalfi Coast and throughout resorts and hideaways. Made world renowned from the spy-series The Prisoner and the James Bond movie Live and Let Die. These are hard to find in their original form and highly sought after. This rare find comes from the family of local racing legend and auto dealer magnet, Pete Lovely of Tacoma. His original Ferrari Testarossa from the 50s is valued at over $30 million dollars. This is quite an interesting and useable piece. The last one we sold at Lacky was a yellow one and it brought $40,000.00.

Lot 234- 1967 Maserati Mistral Lot 234- 1967 Maserati Mistral

Lot 234- 1967 Maserati Mistral

Lot #234 (Sale Order 36 of 101)

This 1967 Maserati Mistral is an alloy-bodied coupe that was completed on November 24, 1967, and sold new in Italy before being imported to the US. The car was acquired in 1984 by its current owner, with whom it has since remained in Delaware. Power is provided by a numbers-matching 3.7-liter DOHC inline-six that has been fitted with triple side-draft Weber carburetors and is paired with a ZF five-speed manual transmission. Finished in red over tan leather, the car also features servo-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, independent front suspension, Borrani wire wheels, rear occasional seats, a cargo compartment shade, a rear minibar, and an AM/FM radio. One of approximately 830 Mistral coupes built, this Tipo AM109 is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with an owners manual, a jack, and a clean Delaware title in the owners name that lists the car as a 1967 model. With fastback styling by Pietro Frua, the Mistral coupe was introduced at the 1963 Turin Motor Show and remained in production for seven years alongside a spyder variant that arrived in 1964. Construction incorporated either aluminum or steel bodywork built by Turin coachbuilder Maggiora over a steel box-section frame. This example wears an older repaint in a lighter shade of red than its original Rosso Capannelle, and imperfections in areas of the finish, such as chips, cracking, and flaking, are shown up close in the photo gallery below. Borrani wire wheels are secured by three-eared knock-offs and wear 185R16 Firestone Cavallino Sport 200 tires that are said to have been mounted in 2017. Girling disc brakes at each corner utilize three-piston calipers, which were resealed in 2018 during service that also included replacement of the master cylinder and booster. Suspension comprises a coil-spring double-wishbone front setup and a leaf-sprung solid rear axle along with tubular shock absorbers and anti-roll bars at both ends. The cabin is trimmed in Senape leather over seating for two with matching upholstery over the door panels, console, rear cargo area side panels, and rear seats, the latter of which were optional equipment for the Mistral model. Portions of the leather have been re-dyed and present in a brighter shade, and cracking is exhibited on the seat surfaces. Additional features include tan carpeting, a factory-optional retractable rear cargo compartment cover, a black leather-trimmed dash, gray shoulder belts, and a Panasonic AM/FM push-button radio. A minibar trimmed in black upholstery has been added on the rear shelf and is equipped with shot glasses. The wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation including a 300-km/h speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline flanking gauges monitoring coolant temperature, amperage, fuel level, oil temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 18k kilometers (~11k miles), about 2,500 of which have been added by the current owner. The 3.7-liter inline-six features an aluminum block with cast-iron cylinder liners, an aluminum cylinder head with hemispherical combustion chambers, dual overhead camshafts, and twin-plug ignition. Triple Weber carburetors were installed several decades ago in lieu of the original Lucas fuel injection system. Service in 2019 is said to have included a cleaning and resetting of the distributor, fabrication of replacement carburetor plumbing, dipping and sealing of the twin fuel tanks, installation of a Malpassi fuel filter and Facet fuel pump, replacement of the fuel lines, fuel hoses, and cooling hoses, a coolant flush, and a tune-up. Number *580* is shown stamped on the block above, matching the chassis number, and can also be seen stamped on the cylinder head in the gallery below. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a ZF five-speed manual transmission. The seller notes that the throwout bearing has started to make noise. A new dual-outlet exhaust system is said to have been fabricated using Quicksilver components in 2019.

Lot 238- 1970 Jaguar E-Type Roadster

Lot #238 (Sale Order 40 of 101)

1970 Jaguar XKE Roadster Series 2 VIN#: 1R12172 4.2 L XK I6 with a 4-speed manual transmission. This vehicle is an older restoration. The paint was probably completed sometime back in the 80s. After a good buff the paint is still in seemingly good condition. The body is in good condition with no signs of impact or rust. The vehicle has complete been gone through mechanically. Extensive recording of the work including some documentation is included. Dashboard- Repaired speedometer, lubricated and adjusted tachometer, replaced heater control lever and choke mechanism. Replaced two rocker switches, cleaned and reworked the rest. Replaced instrument voltage regulator. Cleaned wire harness and all instrument contacts from oxidation. Repaired wiring on turn signal and hazard light system. Floor- Removed old carpet and treated all areas. Seats- Repaired, cleaned and adjusted all seat mechanisms. Top- Repaired mechanical attachment to car. Trunk- Repaired latch. Lights- Replaced all light bulbs and cleaned connections. Adjusted major cable plug to hood. Engine- Cleaned and replaced needle valve and gaskets on carburetors. Replaced damaged fuel hoses. Cleaned and flushed fuel filter and added additional filter. Rewired ignition system. Replaced oil pressure sender and spark plugs. Repaired sheet metal around engine compartment. Brake system- Replaced the master brake cylinder and boaster. The clutch slave cylinder was replaced and repaired heater control valve. Built battery hold down brackets. Rewired brake fluid reservoirs. Overall, the electrical system was inspected and sorted out as needed. The fuel was replaced, the crankcase oil and filter changed and the hydraulic system flushed. It starts with ease. Every single electrical item was inspected, all of the switches now work, the lights, everything was cleaned and made safe. History: Longtime residents, owners of the best Pizza Delis in the Valley, have enjoyed the car hobby for decades here in Southern Oregon. The XKE was purchased in the 80s from a repair shop in Ashland, Oregon for an outstanding repair bill, long before Jaguars were thought of as collectable with value. According to the story, it was a random conversation on an airplane flight that led to finding the Jag. Soon after, it was brought home in boxes as a long-term project. Over the years, the previous owner worked on the car with help from local shops and suppliers. Paint was applied most likely in the late 80s and the car were enjoyed all of these years, mostly locally with a couple of longer trips at the beginning of its stewardship. There are no records of any work done at the time and the one that would know most passed about five years ago. The car had not been driven much the past fifteen years, mostly brought out for parades and the such. The normal course of events was the car starting the event under its own power but brought back on a trailer by the end of the day for one electrical gremlin or another. Finally, it was parked and started on occasion, the last time about 2010.

Lot #252 (Sale Order 54 of 101)

Very unique and well built 1973 Volkswagen Bradley GT 2. The body is a 1978 Bradley Gt 2 and it is built on a 1973 Volkswagen pan. The car has several nice features including everything mechanically rebuilt. The front suspension has been completely gone through the 1600 Dual Port motor and transmission have both been rebuilt and have only 97 miles on that work. It runs and drives excellent as if on rails! The exterior of the car has taken designs from the Corvette and Ferrari 308. The interior is in excellent condition and features a vintage leather LA Carrera steering wheel, vintage Hurst shifter, an interior fan and a complete set of VDO gauges. The gull wing doors are very cool and have removable roof panels for that open air experience. The car looks great and drives excellent for a original car that is coming up on 50 years of age. The rear window doubles as a rear hatch (a la Volvo P1800 ES) which is great for those grocery or beer runs. It appears that this may very well be one of the few that were built at the Bradly factory. You absolutely will not find a better or more complete example of a GT II anywhere.

Lot 262- 1970 GMC Royal Motorhome 55 Spartan

Lot #262 (Sale Order 64 of 101)

1970 GMC ROYAL 70 GMC pusher chassis/ 1955 Spartan Imperial Mansion J. Paul Gettys Spartan Aircraft company of Tulsa, Oklahoma made high quality travel trailers and (Spartan trailers 1946-1960) mobile homes. Bodies were aircraft aluminum, all riveted. Woodwork on interiors were birch. Wiring and plumbing were done in copper. In 1955 the Imperial Mansion was the apex of the companys line. Enter Dr. William Schultz of Bishop California. Being familiar with Spartan trailers he noted that none of the motorhomes on the market could compare. In 1969 he owned two 55 model Imperial Mansions and he decided to convert one to a motor coach. Royal Motorhome Manufacturing Co, Dr. Shultz And two employees set out to build the coach. A prototype the plan was to build and market a new motorhome brand utilizing some of the remaining Spartans as a basis. Shultz purchased a brand-new school bus chassis for just under $7000.00 from his local GMC dealership. The rear pusher chassis came with a 401 cubic inch V-6 gas engine producing 273 horsepower and 372-foot pounds of torque. It has a 5 speed Clark transmission and a 2-speed drive axel. It came equipped with air brakes, power steering and 22.5 Budd wheels, a new front end for a gilling bus was factory sourced from the Oakland, CA factory. Mated to the trailer body it gives the coach a windshield, headlights, and an access door for vehicle electrical panel. The new chassis was nearly $9000, equal to two corvettes! The dashboard was fabricated of steel. The GMC chassis came with a steering column, pedals and a dash panel with amp, oil pressure and temp gauges. Added by Shultz is a S.W. gas gauge (switchable between 260-gallon tanks), a tachometer, an air pressure gauge, and a manifold vacuum gauge. The dash included map storage and cassette stereo wired with 3 pairs of speakers throughout the interiors. Dashboard was trimmed with aluminum and padded switches for lighting, heat, defrost, air seats, ect. Are easily accessible. From the body rub rail up, with the addition of the cockpit its a 1955 Spartan Imperial Mansion, serial number 1321. Below the rail is all designed and built by Dr. Schultz and his team, 12 compartment doors, all keyed alike accessed the rear engine, the generator, propane fuel tanks and multiple storage compartments. The engine bay is entered through the rear door and through an opening in the interior of the coach. A rear control panel allows engine to start and shut off. The generator is a Kohler, it was last run in 2016. It is a gas powered, water cooled, 4-cylinder model with its own radiator. Access is through a side door on the passenger rear and through the engine bay. A fold out set of steps to the main entry door are air actuated. In 2014 some major upgrades were made to the interior. New insulation and wiring, wall coverings, day & night shades with valences, 2-way lights, individually adjustable work on both 110 and 12 volts with wiring for both, roof air conditioner and emergency escape hatch added, a new flex steel convertible couch, recliner and front drivers and passengers air ride, air adjust seats with armrests which swivel 360* for use in living area. The passenger seat is a recliner. Radiant heat was added front to rear with separate control for bedroom and bath, all covered with high quality Berber carpet. The dinette was reupholstered matching the recliner and shade valences. A microwave oven was installed under the counter. A comfort air king size bed with dual controls is in the rear bedroom. The bath was upgraded with new cabinet lighting. A safe is built in, details to new owner. In 2014 it made a nearly 10,000-mile trip cross country to tour the fall colors of Vermont Connecticut and New Hampshire. In 2015 the trip was repeated. It was parted and used as a guest house, Man cave and air-conditioned hot weather retreat until purchased by the current owner in 2021. Since then, its received a major tune-up, new fuel pump, belts, oil and filters and new hydraulic clutch line, master slave cylinders and new HD vehicle battery. Permanent Washington registration was added. The coach runs and drives as it should. Very solid and reliable in every way. Standard shift lineage and all systems fully adjusted and smoothly functional. Good visibility and handling. Cruises easily at 60 miles per hour. Featured on page 150 of 2006 book by Doug Keister, Mobile Mansions copy of the book included videos on YouTube 1970 GMC Royal Motorhome, Spartan Motorhome We have a suitcase of manuals, diagrams, and photos. Thank you.

Lot 290- 1969 Lincoln Continental Mark III NO RESERVE

Lot #290 (Sale Order 91 of 101)

Lovely low mile example of the Frank Cannon version of the milestone designed Lincoln Continental Mark III. Great example to spruce-up. Recent torrential down pours and heinous wood knocked a big conifer limb onto the drivers door and whacked it good. Drive it when the IRS stops by or social services r the folks that check on spousal support. Or just fix it. Nice car otherwise.
