Cache of 10 Esopus Broad-Style Blades, Found in Livingston Co., New York, Ex: Summers. Excellent lot of blades, likely found together as they have been glued together and appear to have similar patters of manufacture/flaking, style, and material. One of the pieces has been broken and reglued (bottom right corner). The longest measures 4 1/8". These appear to be lehigh broad preforms or Morrow Mountain performs. The middle left piece is the "most finished" piece and most closely resembles a transitional preform of a Lehigh form. All pieces are glued on the board, can easily be removed with warm water. HUGE 19 1/4" Stone Blade/Bullroarer/Churinga, The "Archaic Instrument" Notched x4, Australian, Limestone. Often referred to as a bullroarer, churinga, rhombus, or turndun, this is an ancient ritual musical instrument and a device historically used for communicating over great distances. This piece has 4 notches on the end. These were typically made from wood, less common are made from stone. This has been broken in half (not reglued) and another section broken and reglued. 12.5" Owasco Castle Creek Style Pottery Vessel, Pre-Iroquoian, Port Jarvis, New York Find, RARE. Simply impressive piece, restoration is present. Mainly restoration to the very bottom with a few sections in the body seen. Mainly this has been re-glued back together. There is a coating on the inside that stabilizes the entire pot. There is a small portion of the rim restored as well, pretty easily seen in the pictures. Owasco style, later corded example with design. This is a massive NY vessel and is in overall fair condition. I would estimate about 60-70% of this vessel is original. HIGHLIGHT Serpentine Pop-Eyed Meadowood Birdstone, Drilled, Found along Seneca River, Upper Great Lakes region between Cayuga Lake and Onondaga Lake, New York, Ex: Charlie Wray. This is one of the top authentic birdstones that I have seen from the northeast. It is a classic Meadowood pop-eyed birdstone that are found in the Northeast. Measures 3 1/2" long. This is made out of black and white serpentine material. Fully drilled, well made and in overall good condition. This piece has been examined under a scope and authenticated by an external reputable northeastern source as well as thoroughly examined with use of a scope by myself. It exhibits excellent patina, correct drilling, correct form for Meadowood style pop eye birds. Also of note are the quartz veins and phenocrysts running through the material that show small frost cracking under the scope with numerous absorbed ferrous deposits. Dave Summers collected this highlighted piece from Charlie Wray. A similar example is pictured in William Ritchie's "Archaeology of New York State" 1980. This piece would have had shell bead eye-inserts in the holes as is depicted on this piece. These are likely not the original ones and are currently held in by molding clay (easily removed). This piece is pictured in Lar Hothem's Pipe book. This piece interestingly enough comes with an x-ray that was completed of the pipe. NICE 8" x 7" Iroquoian Mohawk Pottery Vessel, Found in Warren, Herkimer Co., New York, Restored. This piece does have restoration to portions of the rim/body junction, as well as the parts of the body and bottom of the pottery vessel. For the most part it is pretty easily seen. There is a heavy amount of "overlay" restoration in which the restoration material extends past the actual restoration. For example, the majority of the inside has a coating to assist with stabilization (can be seen where there was small amount of re-cracking of pieces after the restoration on the rim).
