Flobert in .22 Caliber Rifle - Annie Oakley Commemorative Lot #83 (Sale Order 87 of 295) Flobert in .22 Caliber Rifle - Annie Oakley Commemorative. This Flobert style single shot .22 Rifle is the type used by Annie Oakley while practicing for and performing in Buffalo Bill's Wild West. This 39 1/2" long Rifle has a 23 5/8" octagonal smoothbore barrel and no serial number. The barrel has a gold sheared blade front sight and a fixed open rear sight. Stamped on top of the barrel is "Annie Oakley 1891" and "Buffalo Bills WWS". There is a Belgian proofmark on the left side of the barrel just in front of the breech. When the barrel is removed from the stock, the underneath is marked PPE/OST V.O.T. T SD #2. The barrel, trigger guard and buttplate retain about 98% of their original bluing. The breech has a rare falling block type action which houses the firing pin (Hadley's Patent). The hammer, falling block and trigger are case hardened with a medium/dark gray patina. The walnut stock has a half-stock pattern and checkered wrist area which retains most of its original finish. There is a 1 3/4" shield-shaped brass plaque on the right side of the stock which is engraved "1st Place World Champion 1891". Shooters favored these gallery Rifles (known as business Rifles, parlor Rifles, target Rifles, gallery Rifles and ladies Rifles) because of their accuracy.

The blades are sharp but have odd issues. Yellow handle has uniform scratches as does the unboxed pearl.
