Longest is 3 1/8" One of the jasper pieces has been dual fluted with a working edge, possible preform. Two of the jasper pieces are made specifically for hand held use, very unique. Another has a curved edge for cutting. The Normanskill chert piece appears to be a lamoss paleo tool, great pieces!

Great full groove axe found by Ritchie Enders (Titus Ender's son- the collection we sold earlier in the year) while fishing along the bank of the Susquehanna River (east bank) in Halifax, PA. He recalls seeing a rock that looked like something so he decided to kick it. After kicking it, he realized there was a groove around the stone. He picked it up and there was a nice full grooved axe!

Pair of Salvaged Bannerstones, Drilled, Peach Bottom Slate, York County, PA Ex: Fogelman, Henry. Two very interesting salvaged Peach Bottom Slate bannerstones. One is a wing of a banner that broke, was reshaped and re-drilled through the wing. The other, the wings were damaged and this was reworked. The holes through the center hole on the face are intentional and were done anciently, likely to suspend. Additionally there are heavy incising lines on this piece. These were found when water screening features/soil from the site/various pits during the excavation.

This was an exciting "find" in the collection, further explaining to the family of the significance of the piece when going through the collection! Measures 3 1/4" x 2 1/2".

. HIGHLIGHT Likely Cache of 5 Trade Axes, 3 tools, Found Washington Boro Village Site, Ex: Henry. Ex: Glen Henry & Family Collection of Washington Boro, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania (PA). This is an extraordinary lot of trade axes and celt tools. This is considered a "likely Cache" as these were found within an approximate 10 foot distance of each other during excavations by Elizabethtown College in 2008 and 2009. This is an incredible assortment and most of these pieces still have their original debris on them. TWO of the axes have partially charred wood piece from the original handle! One axe and 3 tools seen look "nicer" than the others. This is simply due to the electrolysis process the college experimented with on these items. There are pictures (in this listing) that show the electrolysis process on two of the pieces in the grouping. After electrolysis was completed to one of the 5 Biscayne trade axes, hallmarks were present. The others were kept in their original condition. The professor at the time surmised these were laid in a circular pattern and likely for ceremonial purposes. A copy of the original site map of the excavated features and locations of the axes will be included with this lot. Additionally, photocopied journal entries will be included from the excavations documenting the day several of these axes were found. Does not get much better than this in regards to documentation! We felt it was important that these axes stay together as does their significance. The largest axe measures 8". Ex: Glenn Henry Collection.

This is an incredible Washington Boro Pottery Vessel found on the Boro Village site, 36La8 by the Henry Family on their own private property. This is a SOLID piece, no cracks, restoration present. There are nicks and damage to the rim however the pot itself is not re-glued/restored or cracked. The old dirt is still on this piece! Tucked away in the top shelf of the family's closet for close to 35 years. This piece would have had face effigies (the classic triangular form) and small parts of each of the 2 effigies can be noted (close up pictures taken). This is an extraordinary piece, one that I personally enjoy in its exact "as found" state! This measures 6 1/2" tall and 6" wide.

This is an extremely rare style- Susquehannock face effigy pipe found directly off of Mill Street in 1977 during a road resurfacing by Mr Edgar Roberson who was a Pastor at the United Methodist Church in Washington Boro. This piece is restored from the elbow to approximately 2.5" down with a married end stem piece. You can see the restoration lines pretty easily in the pictures. No restoration to the effigy or bowl! Base in the form of a Lehigh Broad, this impressive piece measures 6 5/8" long! A huge piece of jasper. This was found in Butler Co., PA. Originally this was the centerpiece of a large frame of jasper and other points (notably an agate basin). This piece was purchased in June of 2016 by Walt Podpora and has been in his collection since. This is a large piece of brown jasper with hues of yellow jasper within the material.

This was broken (likely during manufacture as you can see crystaline structure where there was a vein through the material. Additionally, lots from the southeast, central states and far west (obsidian points at end of sale) are included. All artifacts within this auction are guaranteed by the consignors to be legally obtained and found on private property. Of note is a large consignment of Washington Boro, PA found artifacts from the Glenn Henry collection as well as an incredible selection of PA points including rhyolite, jasper, quartz and quartzite. Below are details of several of our consignments: The Glenn Henry Collection Glenn: Henry resided in Washington Boro on the actual Washington Boro Susquehannock Village site (36La8). Unfortunately Glenn recently passed away at the age of 70. His family decided to share the family artifact collection with other collectors and will be featured in our November 5th auction. At the age of 15, Glenn had an unfortunate life-altering event when he became paralyzed after a neck injury at a swimming pool. His wife , Patricia, and his children reminisce on his resilience as a human being and his ability to not let this define him. Glenn went on to be a great father, active community and church member, successful business owner and a founder of the Blue Rock Heritage Center. The Henry collection consists of mainly family and friend finds on the Washington Boro Village site and Strickler site. Glenn's family remembers spending countless hours sifting and finding beads and other artifacts during their early years. In addition to family and friends, a portion if the collection was excavated by Elizabethtown College. For several years the Henry family allowed the college to complete excavations for a field school that was part of the Anthropology/Archaeology program. I reminisce as we begin to sort and catalog this collection as I was part of the field school one year and found several of the pieces in the collection during our excavation. Mr. Hallman has amassed a nice collection consisting of both personal finds and purchases over his long time of collecting. A large portion of his collection is from the Berks County region. Included from his collection is a nice selection of axes he collected. Mr. Barry George has been looking for artifacts since his father and mother introduced him to the world of collecting artifacts back in 1969. His Grandfather started collecting beginning in 1898. He had a keen interest in the culture of the indigenous people. Collecting artifacts carried on through Barry's life and has since amassed a great collection of artifacts, letting some of his pieces go in this auction. Walt Podpora has been collecting for a large number of years and he has amassed a wonderful collection of artifacts. He decided to consign some artifacts from his personal collection.
