Early Post War German Soldier Replacement Knights Cross W/Oak Leaf/Swords-Souval Maker Lot #103 (Sale Order 115 of 330) These early post war Knights Crosses were not made as reproductions to fool collectors! These were produced as replacement awards available to WW2 period Knights Cross holders who had either lost and/or had their original award confiscated. 3 piece ribbed frame construction with magnetic iron centers. The frame is silver hallmarked .800 and maker marked L/58 for the firm of Rudolf Souval, a prominent 3rd Reich award manufacturer. In a lot of cases original period frames and centers, along with original period Knights Cross ribbons were used. We believe this is the case for this early post war example. The hanger loop attached to the Oak Leaf/swords is also stamped 800 for silver content. These early post war examples were "official" replacements until the 1957 law/resolution banning the Swastika.

Early Nazi Period Fire Police NCO Tunic In Rare Brown Ribbed Wool-Town Of Germete Lot #113 (Sale Order 127 of 330) Ribbed Corduroy constructed tunic. Most likely a Colonial tunic converted to Fire Police. Collar has the zig zag stitching. Shoulder boards with one pip were tailor sewn into the shoulder seams and are for the rank of "Revier-Oberwachtmeister". Collar tabs are hand sewn to the collar just as the Germete city patch is to the sleeve. All insignia is original and appear to have been with this tunic since it was worn during early through WWII. Two top pleated pockets with scalloped flaps and single button closure. All buttons exhibit a chrome finish. The interior has a rear draw string. There is no reaction to UV lighting anywhere. The Fire Police piping does show spots of moth damage and tunic body has minor soiling. The town of Germete is only 1.76 square miles of area and population was less than 1,000 during Pre/Early WW2, which would also indicate it had a very small Fire Department! The city is known for it's healing spring and is now somewhat of a little known tourist spa. Rare tunic. Rare patch!

Late War “Last Ditch” Japanese Officer’s ‘Islands/Colonial’ Samurai Sword Lot #166 (Sale Order 186 of 330) More than likely produced in a locale such as the Philippines in preparation for the return of General MacArthur. The rear of the helmet has a gray "duct" tape strip applied horizontally with the handwritten letters "THRUSH" in black sharpie. The front seam dimples indicate the shell was manufactured by McCord. WW2 period fiber liner is by Westinghouse. The "A" frame paratrooper chin cup buckle straps have been rigger or possibly factory applied. The buckles are blackened brass. USAAF Pilot Officer's Named Tunic/"Pinks" Pants-W/Bullion "9th Airborne Troop Carrier" Patch Lot #183a (Sale Order 205 of 330) Class A Four pocket tunic with belt. Laundry tag inside appears to be the handwritten name of "Serchow" or possibly "Gerchow". The Captain rank insignia is pin back with locking clasp. Rare bullion thread embroidered on medium blue wool base "AIRBORNE 9th TROOP CARRIER" patch on the left shoulder. The bullion thread has age toned nicely. The right shoulder has the Army Air Forces HQ patch which is machine embroidered on wool. Full size 3" pilot wings are pin back with 90 degree opening pin and locking clasp. It is hallmarked "AMCRAFT ATTLEBORO MASS. STERLING" in raised relief. Above the right breast pocket is the Presidential Unit Citation ribbon bar with one oak leaf. The 3 place ribbon bar has the Air Medal, ETO with 2 battle stars and the Good Conduct ribbon. Not all that unusual for an officer to wear the Good Conduct ribbon if it was earned before being promoted from EM/NCO to officer. In this case, it is certainly more than likely this pilot was promoted wartime especially when noting the 5 bullion overseas service bars for a combined 3 years, on lower left sleeve. This officer quality fine tricot wool tunic is in extremely fine overall condition, exhibiting moderate service wear and a few spots of minor moth tracking and "nips" which does not distract from display. Scarce named tunic with even more scarce bullion Airborne 9th Troop carrier patch! The "pinks" trousers are button fly and exhibit moderate period wear. No size stamps or tags are present on either. The "pinks" trousers measure to be approx. 34 X 33 and the jacket measures approx. 19" point to point (shoulder seam) and jacket length is approx. 29" indicating an approx. size of 38-40 regular.

"Flying Tigers" AVG Pilot Wings-Collar Insignia-Silver Lot #200a (Sale Order 225 of 330) These wings and collar insignia were found at a local Church donation sale a few years ago here in Western North Carolina. (just FYI) The wings are full 3" size and appear to be cast silver. Excellent detail to the obverse and in the style of U.S. type manufactured wings, The AVG lettering on the front appears to have been separately applied/soldered to the shield and the shield was "smoothed" where the lettering was placed. The pin, hinge and open reverse "C" catch are a little more crude and have been affixed nicely into a circular countersunk indentation. These have been extremely difficult to research as there is not much information to be found to compare to original Chinese made wings that were also cast silver. There is a definite letter hallmark of some sort at the top of the shield on the reverse which is hard to make out as it has not been stamped clearly. The AVG letter collar insignia has the British type lug loop attachments that is known to have be the attachment method used on period examples. One is stamped .925 for silver content. If indeed this insignia is early WW2 Chinese theater made for AVG pilot officers, it is extremely rare. All have natural age patina. rare period examples? made for reunion? Please bid based on your own knowledge, expertise and/or research. We did find a pair of wings that were museum quality replicas that were similar but not the same, especially the reverse hardware. It was much more like that of standard made WW2 U.S. wings with locking clasp and patina was absent.
