Non FFL, Pre 1898 Antique. Very rare and desirable heavy 15.6 pound Sharps 1874 custom Sporting Rifle in 44 caliber with 30" heavy octagon barrel having and exceptional bright shiny bore and excellent rifling. "44-90 caliber". It is my opinion that the impeccable condition of this bore indicates professional attention. Double set triggers, dual blade Lawrence ladder sight. Bridgeport address, caliber is marked calibre 44 on breech of barrel flat. Forearm is serial numbered to receiver. Smooth steel crescent butt plate. Overall condition is very good, mild chipping evident to stocks, Spire pattern Pewter forend cap. Metal patina has faded to brown with traces of original case color finish. Repaired break at wrist. Excellent operable mechanical condition with a mirror bright bore. Includes factory letter, copy of original customers order form and 1869 dated sales slip from the original purchasers hardware store for general merchandise. Original purchaser was a well known Middleton Connecticut personality Henry Woodward. (1838-1907). Includes a gloss sale description from a prior 2018 Auction where this fine piece was purchased by the consignor. GR/Rack.
