OLAF WIEGHORST SIGNED NUMBERED PRINT "INDIAN COUNTRY" EST $100-250 Lot #142 (Sale Order 163 of 387) Southwest 47/999 signed numbered print Two Indians on horseback looking over Mountains and valleys 31x35 nicely framed and triple matted STUNNING! Danish immigrant Olaf Wieghorst, master of American Western art, is called the "DEAN OF CONTEMPORARY WESTERN PAINTERS" by his peers. A circus performer at age 6, the young Olaf was struck by wild west shows throughout Europe. By age 18, he was determined to reach the United States. He signed on as a seaman on a Danish freighter, and jumped ship in NY harbor. Despite the language barrier, he managed to locate a relative living in NY. After 20 years in the NY police department, he retired, and moved west to begin a full time art career. In 1984, he presented a limited edition piece, "Nomads of the Plains" to President Reagan, in the Oval Office. According to Olaf, this was the greatest honor of his life. Two of his most famous paintings, "The Navajo" and the "Navajo Madonna" sold in 1985 for $1,000,000, the highest price ever paid by a private collector for two paintings by a living artist.

RICHARD LUCE SIGNED NUMBERED PRINT "SPIRITS OF THE RISING MIST" EST $100-150 Lot #143 (Sale Order 164 of 387) Southwest 467/1500 signed numbered print with remarque by artist Indian Warrior On Horseback w/COA 33.5x24 unframed Born and raised in Younkers, NY, this artist of Indian descent has devoted his life to portraying the history that he loves. A professional artist for over 28 years, his subject matter has varied little from his primary interest, the American West. Graduating with a degree from Duchess Community College in Poughkeepsie, NY, where he learned the basics of composition, color, and design, he worked for a publishing company in Manahatten as an assistand art director. During that time, he started developing his artistic style while painting in the evening. When he was young he admired Frederic Remington, and still gets the chills when he stands in front of one of his pieces. Painting western subjects comes naturally to this artist. His interest and fascination with American Indians with their free roaming way of life, and strong family structure has enabled him to produce paintings of unequaled excellence. Another great opportunity to own a wonderful piece of southwestern art.

FRANK MCCARTHY SIGNED NUMBERED PRINT/PEWTER TRAIN/BOOK "THE COMING OF THE IRON HORSE" EST $550-600 Lot #172 (Sale Order 191 of 387) Southwest RARE OPPORTUNITY! COMPLETE COLLECTION! AP 71/100 signed numbered artists proof print with matching numbered 71/100 19" long cased pewter locomotive train sculpture and book "Buffalo Days" with the artwork featured on the front cover. Buffalo Running from Train On Tracks 25x30 unframed. Viewing a McCarthy painting of the Old West is like walking in on an Indian raid or chasing bandits or riding with the cavalry in a column of two's. There's action, and plenty of it! Born in 1924 in New York City, McCarthy has been drawn to the west ever since he read Will James novels as a boy. He attended Pratt Institute, and the Art Student's League where he studied under George Bridgeman and Reginald Marsh. Following a successful career in commercial art and illustration, with book cover, and advertisting work for publishers, and movie studios, and large corporations, he was lured to the West and in 1974, he settled in Sedona, AZ, where he has blazed a trail of accomplishments ever since. He has had shows at the Museum of the Southwest in Midland, TX, and the Norton Museum in LA, and exhibits his paintings in galleries in Dallas, and Sedona. To quote McCarthy, "My paintings are the result of a lot of hard work. Next to my wife, painting is probably the most important thing in my life. I guess I love to paint." Another great opportunity to own a great investment piece of artwork.

VIKTOR SHVAIKO LIMITED EDITION PRINT 1995 "BISTRO LA BOUILLE" EST $300-400 Lot #191 (Sale Order 211 of 387) Landscape limited edition print French Bistro Street Scene 34x43.5 framed and double matted Born in Altai, Russia and raised in one of Russia's most remote towns, Shvaiko grew up surrounded by the beauty of the wilderness. His natural inclination for fine arts and his strong urge to share his vision of nature drove him to Novoaltaisk Artistic School, one of the two best arts schools in the former Soviet Union. Four years of strenuous studies enabled him to acquire the skills of a true artist. The strict regimen of drawing, intricate technique of using colors and the influence of nineteenth century Russian artists brought Shvaiko close to a traditional academic style of painting. He now possessed the tools with which to express his feelings to the world. Shvaiko painted Altai landscapes and the mountainous countryside of Ukraine for a while, and exhibited in Moukachevo and in Hungary in 1991. However, he was disenchanted by the stifling effect the Russian bureaucracy had on the careers of young artists. Unable to obtain a Visa, he was permitted to travel to Yugoslavia and in the confusion of civil war, fled to Italy with his paintings strapped to his back. He survived by selling his paintings on the streets of Rome and eventually obtained passage to America, where he developed his penchant for painting cafes. His work is found in museums throughout Russia and he has exhibited widely throughout the United States and Canada.

He moved to California with his family when he was a child and enrolled at the Otis Art Institute, studying with Ralph Holmes. Although he preferred portrait painting, he won recognition for landscapes and was so proficient technically that he spent his last year at Otis teaching. He worked as a commercial artist for M.G.M. and Columbia studios and then discovered a love for desert painting. He was also challenged by portrait painting, especially Navajo and Hopi Indians from Arizona and New Mexico. His goal was to have a painting look wet after it was completed, and to achieve this effect, he mixed his colors to get a luminosity by mixing oil paint, linseed oil, and turpentine, but he never used glaze or lacquer. He lived in LaQuinta from 1960-1965, when he and my his wife moved to Cottonwood, AZ, and from there to Quemado, NM, 1972-84. From 1984 until his death in 1994, they lived in Sonoita, AZ. JAMIE WYETH SIGNED NUMBERED LIMITED EDITION LITHOGRAPH "HORSE UNDER THE MOON" EST $200-400 Lot #198 (Sale Order 218 of 387) Equine 115/300 Lithograph signed numbered Horse Upper Body W/COA 24x33 unframed Jamie Wyeth has since adolescence attracted considerable attention as a third-generation American artist: son of Andrew Wyeth, among the country's most popular painters, and the grandson of Newell Convers Wyeth, famous for his distinctive illustrations for the classic novels by Stevenson, Cooper, and Scott. "Everybody in my family paints - excluding possibly the dogs," says Jamie Wyeth. And non-human subjects are a common theme: long a sensitive observer of his rural surroundings, he paints livestock and other animals with the same care and intensity he devotes to portraits of people. He won precocious fame, in fact, with Portrait of Pig, his picture of a pink and white sow. The technical facility Wyeth showed even in his early work helps explain why his first one-man show in New York happened when he was only 20, and a retrospective in Omaha, Nebraska, occurred before his 30th birthday. James Browning Wyeth was born on July 6, 1946, in Wilmington, Delaware, just south of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, where he grew up and still lives part of each year. With pencils, brushes, and paints always at hand, the boy found it natural to use them to express his impression of a book he'd read or a movie he'd seen. He left public school after the sixth grade to be tutored at home so he could devote more time to art. Having acquired most of his own schooling from private tutors, his father didn't consider a formal education necessary for an artist. Jamie Wyeth spent at least eight hours a day studying, sketching, and painting. His natural talent developed under the guidance of his father, who in his own youth had the benefit of N. C. Wyeth's instruction and encouragement. His father, he recalls, didn't actually give him lessons, but rather let him work and then offered constructive criticism.

He studied Interior Design at the Philadelphia College of Art and Architectural Space Planning at Temple University. During the 1970's he studied printmaking and drawing at San Francisco's Fort Mason Art Center. Bruce created limited edition etchings as well as monoprints on his handmade paper. He was best known for multi-plate color hand pulled etchings of rugs and tapestries, which appear three dimensional with folds, fringes and turned up corners. Etchings were executed by use of traditional hard and soft ground etching technique. His works are rich in texture and color and show an incredible attention to detail. Weinberg's early artwork was influenced by design elements found in Middle Eastern textiles, architecture, exotic animals and an enchantment with Southwestern and American Indian design. In 1985 Weinberg began experimenting with techniques to produce paper for his etching plates. These papers were free flowing colored cotton pulps, beautifully textured with repeat patterns or marbleized, sometimes enhanced with gold, silver and copper leaf. Artworks in themselves, they constituted the base for his color etching on handmade paper. In 1990 he created "Tokyo Suite", his contemporary interpretation Japanese art. "Tokyo Suite" is composed of ten abstract etchings on handmade paper. These pieces may be considered a single art work of ten or any combination of individual etchings. Weinberg in his later years became involved in the creation of monoprints. These artworks carry bold, abstract, geometric and calligraphic designs which further explore American Indian motifs and post modern architecture.

Weinberg in his later years became involved in the creation of monoprints. These artworks carry bold, abstract, geometric and calligraphic designs which further explore American Indian motifs and post modern architecture.

Today he has achieved international recognition as a successful and gifted artist. His unique self-taught style conveys movement, strength, and grace. Since age thirteen, Azoulay’s thirst for adventure has taken him to many parts of the world, earning his way by painting and performing as an actor. SUSAN RIOS SIGNED NUMBERED LIMITED EDITION PRINT "OLIVIAS PLACE" EST 1500-2000 Lot #227 (Sale Order 248 of 387) Still Life 29/295 Signed Numbered Limited Edition Print 34x35 unframed The physical environments in Susan Rios' work emanate life-affirming values that appeal directly to our hearts and minds, giving them the power to set us dreaming. Her barely perceptible brush work, contemporary hues and delicate detail bring to life intensely introspective paintings which reveal a strong bond between the artist and her audience. Her blend of illustrative realism and impressionism allows her to portray the scenes, objects and moods which are meant to trigger the imagination of the viewer. She finds inspiration from the plein air painting and serenity of Claude Monet, the colors of Henri Matisse and the decorative patterning and precise attention to detail of Gustav Klimpt. Rios' work recalls the paintings of the seventeenth-century Dutch artist Vermeer, who similarly delighted in depicting richly patterned oriental rugs, colorful tablecloth, vivid tiles, and lush drapery. As with Rios' work today, Vermeer's realistic scenes were thus given an abstract, architectural edge. Yet with both artists, fascination with pattern never springs from purely decorative intent; the care and attention lavished on intricate details invest them with a dramatic and emotional value that enhances the overall thematic concerns. The abstract element provided by Rios' use of pattern is complemented by the shifting perspective evident in much of her work. Planes of space often seem to shift in a Rios painting; objects within a single scene may be shown from varying vantage points. Rios' fluid perspective lends her images a dreamy quality that hints of surrealism. The scenes depicted in Rios' paintings seem to exist in glass-bubble worlds where the laws of realism work side by side with the play of the imagination.

JOSE ROYO SIGNED NUMBERED LIMITED EDITION SERIGRAPH "DESPUES DEL BAILE" EST $2000-3000 Lot #228 (Sale Order 249 of 387) Impressionist 153/230 Serigraph or Embellished Silkscreen W/COA Exotic Latin Woman with Fan (backshot) 24x16 unframed Artist Jose Royo: Impressive parallels can be drawn between Royo’s work and that of the Spanish master, Joaquin Sorolla. Both were born in Valencia, both were classically trained, both ‘matured’ in styles of painting capturing the dramatic visual essence of their homeland - Valencia and the Mediterranean Sea. They have both been described as ‘Painters of the Light’; some have said, “of Light of the South”, that is, the southern coast of Spain. It is the overwhelming influence of Sorolla blended with his own style that makes Royo’s masterful treatment of the Mediterranean subjects both haunting and mysterious, yet full of raw power at the same time. The sweeping brush strokes, bold swaths of colour, and heavy impasto capture the eye and draw one inward until that final absolute moment of awareness that one is actually there in the scene feeling the light and heat of the sun, the salt and sea spray, and hearing the crashing surf. Royo conveys not merely image, but mood and atmosphere as well. This is rare in today’s art world, hence the connoisseur is compelled to compare with the old masters. Thus, the appeal of Jose Royo’s work for today’s collector becomes obvious.

JOSE ROYO SILKSCREEN ON MUSEUM BOARD "EN LA ORILLA" EST $2250-2500 Lot #229 (Sale Order 250 of 387) Impressionist 193/230 HUGE EXQUISITE STUNNING Silkscreen on Museum Board Woman w/flowers & Umbrella w/COA 30x54 unframed Impressive parallels can be drawn between Royo’s work and that of the Spanish master, Joaquin Sorolla.

RARE OLEG ZHIVETIN ORIGINAL OIL ON CANVAS "BLOSSOMING BEAUTY" MUSEUM QUALITY PIECE EST $5700-67000 Lot #231 (Sale Order 252 of 387) Impressionist Rare Original Oil on Canvas Canvas Magical Rennaisance Style Woman 47.5x41.5 in Museum Quality Frame Stunning piece that comes to life right off of the wall!! A rare opportunity! Oleg Zhivetin was born in 1964 Oleg: Russian icon painting is a basic and profound point-of-reference in Oleg Zhivetin's work. The viewer will find religious imagery golden halos, Madonnas, angels, and saints. Other typical icons include hearts, musical instruments, books, celestial beings, and flowers, symbols of beauty, delicacy, and spiritual development. One of the most beautiful aspects of Oleg's painting is his skillful rendering of faces, hands and feet. Oleg's characters often communicate through the use of hand gestures rather than eye contact. Gestures are imbued with subtle meaning; a deep sense of shared experience is created through this control of body language. To study a Zhivetin is to take a symbolic journey to enlightenment. Intricate patterns are ever present. The Soviet Union's loss is our gain. For Olex Zhivetin, creating art is like uncovering the meaning of life. It's no wonder then that he continues to move the art world with the beauty, symbolism, and spirituality of his work.

RARE RARE ZU MING HO MUSEUM QUALITY ORIGINAL ACRYLIC PAINTING "HEARTLAND" EST $4000-6000 Lot #232 (Sale Order 253 of 387) "RARE Original Acrylic Painting Indian Women Tending Goats 50X50 Gold Leaf Framed in a Museum Quality Style The highlight of our Auction! Zu Ming Ho was born in 1949 into a remarable family that had already produced several well-known artists. He began taking lessons in both Chinese and Western style figure sketching, watercolors and landscape painting while still in elementary school. Like many members of the emerging Yunnan School, he had hoped to enlighten the Chinese people with his uniquely westernized versions of traditional Chinese themes. The Red Chinese authorities were not amused or enlightened; when the cultural revolution swept over China in 1966, it swept away everything western or different. Along with many contemporary artists of his day, Ho was required to paint only portraits of Mao Tse Tung, and propaganda posters depicting the struggles of the working class. When he continued to paint images in his own style, Ho was taken away by the Red Guard and placed in a forced labor camp. Many of his paintings were destroyed or vandalized.

JEAN-CLAUDE NOVARO UNIQUE ROUND HANDMADE GLASS VASE ONE OF A KIND PURPLE/ORANGE/WHITE EST $750-1000 Lot #238 (Sale Order 258 of 387) Glass Sculpture Vase One of a Kind signed by artist Unique Handmade Art Glass W/COA Born in Antibes, France in 1943; Jean-Claude Novaro is today recognized as one of the greatest glass blowers of our time. His unique and distinctive art-glass creations are highly prized and sought after by art connoisseurs world-wide. The acclaim and success Novaro enjoys today didn’t come easily. Novaro began his lifelong passion for glass in 1957 when he apprenticed at a glassworks in France when he was only 14 years old. Novaro’s love of the craft, combined with incredibly hard work, perseverance and talent, allowed him to become a “maitre verrier” or master glassmaker by the unprecedented age of 20. Jean-Claude spent the next ten years at the glass factory, in charge of production, ambiance, and the apprenticeship program. During these early years, Jean-Claude also made little glass animals to sell to tourists for a few francs apiece. Novaro then began to experiment with pushing glass to its extreme limits in size, creating very large and small objects. Novaro has had over 125 individual and collective shows of his work throughout the world, including France, Germany, Belgium, Japan, Switzerland, Italy, Holland, Saudi Arabia and the United States. Novaro is known today in the glass community not only for his amazing technical and artistic abilities but for his constant search for new ways to stretch the capacity of glass. Jean-Claude has invented new techniques, like his hand painting in between layers of glass and his magique collection, that leave people mystified and in awe. He is also a traditionalist in his insistance on working alone, letting every piece be a creation of his own gifted hands.

ROBERT K. WHITE RARE LARGE ORIGINAL OIL ON CANVAS "RINCONADA NEW MEXICO" est $3-4000 Lot #239 (Sale Order 259 of 387) Landscape original oil on canvas W/COA STUNNING BRILLIANT HUGE BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF ART! 45x60 unframed, stretched Robert K. White was born in Salinas California, on May 22, 1950. While he was growing up in the Monterey Valley, Robert became aware of his artistic talents at a very early age. The stark and beautiful wind swept coast of Monterey gave him a freedom of spirit that shines through his work today and is often the subject of his paintings. Like John Steinbeck, his early years were spent observing familiar people and places, from the Salinas Valley to the Monterey Coast, which made a lasting impression on him. Robert White has accumulated many unsought accolades for his work around the world. His talent is truly natural, he has never had any formal training or instruction. I think talent is a matter of focusing one's consciousness, often to the exclusion of other aspects of life. Most people find their way by the diffuse light of a 100 watt bulb; they see everything with reasonable clarity but not too intensely. Talented people, on the other hand, may focus their 100 watts into a pinpoint laser beam; they perceive the object on which their beam falls very well, but often stumble over the ordinary furniture of life." Robert has refined his techniques through a painstaking study of the masters, uncovering many forgotten techniques used by the great masters of the past. Robert has emerged as an extraordinarily diverse artist with a mastery of many painting techniques. Of much greater significance, however, is his ability to incorporate any of these techniques, in a wide range of subject matter. The work of Robert White has been collected and commissioned by well-known celebrities, fine art connoisseurs and corporations from around the world. In addition, his work is featured in various public collections, (too numerous to mention.)

FREDERIC WHITAKER "CACTUS COWBOY" EST $300-500 Lot #256 (Sale Order 271 of 387) "Southwest 199/275 Limited edition signed lithograph W/COA 35x24 unframed Cowboys riding through the desert Frederic Whitaker (1891-1980) won more than 150 awards for his representational watercolors. In addition to his painting and leadership contributions in the visual arts, Whitaker wrote two books on watercolor, ""Whitaker on Watercolor"" and ""A Guide to Painting Better Pictures"", and a third, ""The Artist and the Real World,"" random reflections on the art world. He wrote more than 90 articles on artists for American Artist magazine, and was a contributor to The Artist of London and Today's Art, New York. Whitaker's watercolors are meticulously designed on a small scale, where he would ""think"" his way through each detail. When pleased with the overall design, he transferred it to the full sheet, confident in exactly what he wanted to do. Ideas for his paintings came from things/people/circumstances he observed, usually picking out the ""unusual."" Whitaker often found beauty in architectural scenes, but he handled every challenge: the human figure, landscapes, seascapes, city scenes, country scenes, night scenes, details of trees, whimsical dolls, and variations of doorway or archway depictions. Frederic Whitaker was born in Providence, R.I., Jan. 9, 1891, and quit school at age 14 to go to work. On Valentines Day, 1943, artist Frederic Whitaker met artist Eileen Monaghan, who was to become Eileen Monaghan Whitaker, at a one-man exhibit of his work at Ferargil Galleries in New York City. In 1949, Whitaker retired from business to devote himself to painting, writing, and serving in varying leadership capacities for art societies. In 1965, the Whitakers moved to La Jolla, Calif. He died in his home March 9, 1980.

CHRISTINE ROSAMOND SIGNED NUMBERED PRINT "FIRST STATE ROSAMOND '79 ONE WOMAN SHOWS" EST $50-100 Lot #262 (Sale Order 274 of 387) Impressionist 590/700 signed numbered limited edition print 29x20 framed In 1972 at an art street bazaar in Los Angeles, a shy young artist, entirely self-taught, displayed her first two oil paintings. Within six months she achieved national acclaim. Those of you who may not recognize her name will recognize her style. By 1976 she had become the most published artist in the world eclipsing such legendary artists as Norman Rockwell and Salvadore Dali. Her published works sold in the millions - more than any other artist dead or alive. Thus, it is said that she met with historical notoriety and overnight success. At the age of 25, Rosamond was a major player in the art world, and one of few women ever to succeed in it. Since 1974 Rosamond has published over 40 limited editions and the plan is to continue to publish the late artist's works. Her paintings, noted for their negative space, economy of line and purity of subject matter immediately struck a chord with the public. The portraits, while often serene, evoke a deeper response from the viewer. On March 26, 1994 the world lost this treasured artist on the rocky coast of the Pacific Ocean. Rosamond's artistic legacy is preserved forever in her works, which eloquently express the essence of the feminine spirit. Her use of negative space became her signature, inviting viewers to participate in the painting by requiring their own completion or resolution of the image. As she matured, so did her art. Colors deepened, images aged gracefully and compositions took on the responsibilities of family, career and personal fulfillment in keeping with Rosamond's own evolution. In March 1994, at the height of her career, Rosamond was swept from her success story by a rogue wave off the Big Sur coast as she wandered the tidepools with her sister and then eight-year old daughter. Her sister saved the child. Rosamond drowned. She was 46.
